In this session, we identify the top cloud misperceptions that can punish your success, as well as talk about ways to mitigate these risks with solutions you can take advantage of today.
Reduce Costs and Complexity with Backup-Free StorageHitachi Vantara
The growth in unstructured data stresses traditional backup and restore operations. Numerous, disparate systems with large numbers of files and duplicate copies of data increase backup and restore times and hurt the performance and availability of production systems. Cost and complexity rise, with more backup instances to buy and manage, more care and handling of an increasing numbers of tapes, and more management of offsite storage. In addition, you may need to support analytics, a compliance audit, or legal action that needs information that is stored offsite. By tiering data to an archive, you can reduce total backup volume by at least 30%. By extending that core archive to the edges of your business, your potential gains are worth investigating. View this webcast to learn how to: Lower capital expenses (hardware, software, licensing, and so on). Control maintenance costs. Simplify management complexity. Reduce backup volume, time cost, and time and administrative effort. Managing The Data Deluge By Optimizing StorageDell World
IDC predicts the overall big data and analytics market will hit $125 billion in 2015 as organizations increasingly seek to gain insight and competitive advantage from their ever-increasing volumes of data. Learn how Dell's broad portfolio of flexible, scalable and cost-effective storage solutions with cutting-edge flash, intelligent data placement, and software-defined technologies deliver a more agile and efficient data infrastructure to better achieve these goals.
Typical disaster recovery plans leverage backup and/or replication to move data out of the primary data center and to a secondary site. Historically, the secondary site is another data center that the organization maintains. But now, companies are looking to the cloud to become a secondary site, leveraging it as a backup target and even a place to start their applications in the event of a failure. The problem with this approach is that it merely simulates a legacy design and presents some significant recovery challenges.
Even though users and application owners are demanding it, the Always-On Data Center seems unrealistic to most IT professionals. Overcoming the cost and complexity of an Always-On environment while delivering consistent results is almost too much to ask. But the reality is that data centers of all sizes can affordably meet this expectation. The Always-On environment requires a holistic approach, counting on a highly virtualized infrastructure, flexible data protection software and purpose built protection storage.
Listen in as experts from Storage Switzerland, Veeam and ExaGrid architect a data availability and protection infrastructure that can meet and even exceed the Always-On expectations of an Always-On organization.

Four Reasons Why Your Backup & Recovery Hardware will Break by 2020Storage Switzerland
While backup software vendors continue to innovate, hardware vendors have been resting on their deduplication laurels. In the meantime, the amount of data that organizations store continues to grow at an alarming pace and the backup and disaster recovery expectations of users are higher than ever. Most backup solutions today simply will not be able to keep pace with these realities. If organizations don't act now to address the weaknesses in their backup hardware, they will not be able to meet organizational demands by 2020. In this webinar, Cloudian and Storage Switzerland discuss three areas where IT professionals need to expect more from their backup hardware and where they should demand less.

Data Management - a top Priority for Healthcare PracticesData Dynamics Inc
The healthcare industry has become increasingly data-driven and poised to take a leap into the future, thanks to an increasingly tech-savvy and demanding patient-consumer base. While the Healthcare Data Ecosystem is presently fragmented and often, insufficient, pioneering firms see vast opportunities to be a part of the Healthcare revolution through proper management of their massive amount of Data.
Healthcare has unique data management challenges that other industries do not face, so the solutions that worked in those fields cannot simply be replicated. Challenges in healthcare data management include -
1. Data environment consolidation in acquisitions and mergers
2. Managing the rapid growth of unstructured healthcare data
3. Adhering to the strict healthcare regulations and reforms
On top of this, Healthcare organizations have to ensure that their data management solution must have a dependable & active security protocol to safeguard sensitive information of patients as per HIPAA norms. With the exponential increase in data, risk is only going to amplify.
In case of mergers & acquisitions, a sizable challenge for large healthcare corporates is the Amalgamation and Streamlining Data with the parent company’s processes. This becomes tedious and cost intensive as merging two data environments that are often radically different from each other into a single system, is difficult and tedious.
Healthcare companies need consumer-driven data strategies with patients at the forefront of their planning. How? To know, read on.
Data Dynamics is a leader in intelligent file management solutions that empower enterprises to seamlessly analyze, move, manage and modernize critical data across hybrid, cloud and object-based storage infrastructures for true business transformation.

The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).

Search and Society: Reimagining Information Access for Radical FuturesBhaskar Mitra
The field of Information retrieval (IR) is currently undergoing a transformative shift, at least partly due to the emerging applications of generative AI to information access. In this talk, we will deliberate on the sociotechnical implications of generative AI for information access. We will argue that there is both a critical necessity and an exciting opportunity for the IR community to re-center our research agendas on societal needs while dismantling the artificial separation between the work on fairness, accountability, transparency, and ethics in IR and the rest of IR research. Instead of adopting a reactionary strategy of trying to mitigate potential social harms from emerging technologies, the community should aim to proactively set the research agenda for the kinds of systems we should build inspired by diverse explicitly stated sociotechnical imaginaries. The sociotechnical imaginaries that underpin the design and development of information access technologies needs to be explicitly articulated, and we need to develop theories of change in context of these diverse perspectives. Our guiding future imaginaries must be informed by other academic fields, such as democratic theory and critical theory, and should be co-developed with social science scholars, legal scholars, civil rights and social justice activists, and artists, among others.
