A Career in the Warehouse, Storage and Logistic Operations Sector
If you enjoy physical work and want to be part of a team, this job could be just right
for you. As a warehouse operative, you would deal with goods and products that
come into a warehouse or stockroom.
You do not need any specific qualifications to be a warehouse operative. Basic English,
maths and IT skills would be useful.
To become a warehouse operative, you will need to have a good level of fitness. You’ll
need to be able to work quickly. And you’ll also need to complete paperwork and
count stock items.
Your job could include
 Taking delivery of goods and supplies
 Checking for damaged or missing items
 Storing goods
 Moving stock around by hand, using lifting gear or a forklift truck
 Picking and packing orders
 Loading goods for dispatch (some jobs include delivering)
 Keeping records of stock
 Keeping paperwork up to date
 Cleaning work areas

future career within the warehouse, storage and logistics industry by helping you to
become ‘work ready’.
What will I gain?
 10 days Employability Workskills + Certificate
 10 days essential work preparation training in our Live Warehouse Training
Environment
 Maths & English skills development (if required) + Certificate(s)
 12 days work experience in an established warehouse, storage and logistics
environment + Guaranteed job interview
 Basic personal protective equipment: high visibility vest, gloves and steel toe
cap boots.
 Greater understanding of what it’s like to work in the Warehouse, Storage and
Logistic Operations sector
Traineeship Eligibility
 Aged 16 - 23, who have not yet achieved a full level 3
 Unemployed (or work less than 16 hours per week) and have little work
experience.
 Motivated to work
 Ready for employment or an apprenticeship within six months of engaging in a
traineeship
