When you go on a road trip and want to plan your journey, you need to know where you are, where you want to go, and why you want to go there. You need the same things when you want to improve your test process. It doesn’t matter whether you are agile, waterfall, or part of a Test Center of Excellence, you need to assess the current state of the process, your goal, and how to implement the improvements. Gitte Ottosen takes you through some of test process improvement frameworks—TMMI, TPI, and a low level lean approach—so you can compare the different frameworks and choose your own way. The assessment is only the foundation. It gives you an indication of your current position and can be input for a roadmap for reaching higher maturity. The most important key to success when implementing test process improvement is the people who are going to implement it. Without ownership and commitment, the process will never become an integrated part of the daily work within the teams and projects. Gitte introduces tools and practices for identifying your goal, creating your roadmap, making your journey happen—and ensuring ownership and commitment in the organization.

Project Management Tips to Improve Test PlanningTechWell
When done right, testing is more than test plans, test scripts, and executing tests. In fact a test leader should consider testing a sub-project of the larger development project. By applying the same techniques project managers use to plan and manage the overall project, test leaders can improve testing and greatly influence the entire project’s success. Ricki Henry explores project management processes that test leaders need to master—risk management, human resources, stakeholder communications, and scope management. Even though you understand that the scope of testing cannot be “everything tested with zero defects,” the customer does not have this same understanding. To prevent this disconnect, test leaders need to determine the scope of what can be tested and then articulate that to the stakeholders. Join Ricki to learn new ways to improve testing while contributing to overall project success through project management processes that test leaders need to master.

These are the slides of the masterclass I gave 24-1-2018 at the Barcelona Test Academy. Using a assessment we started a discussion about what it takes to be an agile tester.
Description: Testing has transformed into Agile Testing. Testing has become a responsibilty of the whole development team. Many testers wonder what their role is now that everyone is testing. Some people say that Testing is WHAT we do and Agile is HOW we do it. In order to contribute effectively to quality solutions, agile testers need to combine the WHAT and HOW in their daily approach.
Time for a deep-dive. What defines the agile tester and how do we add value. In this workshop participant will fill ins an self-assessment based on the 12 characteristics of the agile tester. We’ll share the group results and create a snapshot of where we stand. Next, we will discuss each of the characteristics mean to us, how do they make agile testing work, help to boost the agility of the test process and how we can embed quality in the agile development process. In groups we will share examples from the trenches to go along with each of characteristics. What do we do to make it work, and what challenges do we encounter? Participants will help each other and be able to benchmark their own ideas.
This session aligns with the needs that I recognize with many colleagues. They are good testers, work successfully in an agile environment, but want to get better in explaining why they are a good tester. How does their attitude and approach contribute to valuable software solutions? Join this session if you want to improve yourself and want to get practical tips from the real world; If you want to learn what makes your testing agile and how is your agile mindset translated into a valuable testing approach. Participants can use the self-assessment to identify blind spots in their skills. Each of the participants will leave the room with a good understanding of where he/she stands: “I am an agile tester because…”

How to take organizations to higher testing maturity suresh bose anagha mahaj...Anagha Mahajan
Description:
For the past many years, the focus of the industry was on improving quality by writing better code and using automation and engineering. These efforts did show results but we are still far from an illusive zero-defect state while fulfilling expected time to market.
In order to further boost software quality improvement efforts, the focus has now shifted to improving testing processes. Test Maturity Model integration (TMMi) is a detailed model for test process assessment and improvement. TMMi staged model contains stages or levels that determine the maturity of an organization and lays down roadmap for moving from one maturity level to next. As the processes evolve, an organization passes from adhoc (L1) to Optimized levels (L5). Application of TMMi will lead organizations to highly mature test process, reduced rework (about 10%), increase in defect removal efficiency (about 85%), higher productivity (about 10 test cases per day or 15% higher) and faster time to market.
Learning Objectives:
1. How can your organization improve the effectiveness of testing
2. How can you sustain testing maturity
3. What is the improvement roadmap for the implementation journey to improve testing processes
4. Why TMMI is preferred to CMMI for any testing organization
Et vigtigt redskab i arbejdet med backloggen er at nedbryde store features og funktionsområder til mindre, så de fx. passer ind i en iteration eller er overskuelige at implementere for et team.
'Growing to a Next Level Test Organisation' by Tim KoomenTEST Huddle
Many organisations start improving their testing by implementing some kind of line organisation for testing (test expertise center, test service center), hereafter called TEC. Although a good starting point for improvements, in practice the TEC is often not much more than a resource pool of testers, possibly supplying certain templates or giving advice to projects.
A next maturity level for a TEC is to grow to a test factory, responsible for delivering pre-agreed test results. From the experiences gathered mostly from a large railroad infrastructure organisation, this presentation shows the path to this next level of test maturity and responsibility. However, this is not a straight path, but a path with ups and downs and many curves, and getting there isn’t easy. It requires change, in organisational processes but, more difficult, also in the way people work, their behavior and their attitude.
In my practice, I follow the principles of the Basic Change Method (from Dutch management guru Ben Tiggelaar). BCM is a combination of the most effective insights from cognitive and behavioral science and focuses on making people change their common behavior by management of both behavior intentions and change situations. Usually change management is mainly focused on end results. But the underestimated factor between change plans and desired results is behavior.
Issues that will be discussed are:
• using the TEC as a lever for test improvement
• envisioning the roadmap
• formulating improvement actions
• (management) commitment
• organising the improvement (team)
• planning the change
• implementing the improvements
• changing behavior
• measuring results.
Practitest webinar - When a test manager makes a differenceDerk-Jan de Grood
Due to the adoption of Agile, the role of test manager seems redundant. Teams and individual professionals are self-managing and coordinating their own work.
Nevertheless, in some organizations and projects, there is a need for a quality ambassador that understand the agile quality strategy and can help, monitor and ensure that working solutions are delivered.
In this webinar we will explore situations in which you as a test manager can make a difference. For example:
How do we e.g. deal with compliance, integration and final acceptance in a contractor’s context?
How does a test manager coordinate the work over teams and ensures the quality of the testing itself?
Thanks Joel Montvelisky, PractiTest Chief Solution Architect, for hosting my webinar.
Optimism Webinar 2 - Moving from AB testing to true experimentationOptimizely
Start moving your experimentation program to the next level
Many organizations are already testing and experimenting on a small scale. So now the big question is: what’s stopping you from moving to the next level?
In this webinar, we’ll guide you through the framework that helps you to assess where you are on your journey – plus the four essential building blocks for success.
Building your team and making the time. Defining your strategy. Integrating the technology that unlocks benefits way beyond Google Analytics. And developing the culture of experimentation that drives innovation - and powers growth.
Discover real-world, actionable insights that allow you to successfully grow your program, deliver more value to your business and maximise ROI.
Lisa Rohlfs will be your expert guide:
- Discover a framework to evaluate your journey so far.
- Gain actionable insight to move your program to the next level.
- Create the culture of experimentation that drives innovation – and powers growth.
Have you had complex organizational impediments that everyone is aware of and the company tried to resolve for several years but nothing was achieved? At Dun & Bradstreet, we decided to take a fresh look at some of these problems and ask five “why’s” to get to the root cause and once we did, we invented a new Lean IT framework, which we call Lean Pilots.
Learn about the Lean Pilots with Maryia Breyter's presentation at the Lean IT Summit 2017.

Success Beyond a Test: The Importance of Application in Performance ImprovementBizLibrary
Leadership came to you with a request for training. You organized a training session where the employees seemed to have learned something. You received positive feedback, and you sent them a post-training quiz. Job well done, right?
Not exactly. A study from Robert O. Brinkerhoff found that we spend only 15 percent of our current training resources on the actual on-the-job application that a training event independently yields. We spend the majority on the design, development and delivery. That means we spend more time designing what the training will look like than evaluating how the training is helping our employees in their job roles day-to-day.
This interactive webinar, brought to you by BizLibrary, will provide easy-to-understand insights on:
- What you should do before training begins to assist with measurement
- Ways to drive behavior change post-training
- Diverse post-training tools and methods of measuring behavior
Keynote: Testing and Quality in the Scaled Agile Framework for Lean Enterpris...Derk-Jan de Grood
Scaled Agile Framework for Lean Enterprises (SAFe) is the most popular framework used by large programs and companies to achieve business agility. It challenges how testers, Q&A and test managers, and test specialists work together with the entire organisation. Derk-Jan de Grood and Mette Bruhn-Pedersen explain how test professionals can contribute with their knowledge and expertise in a SAFe organisation.
Scaled Agile Framework for Lean Enterprises (SAFe) is becoming the most popular framework used to help large programs and entire companies achieve business agility. It builds on well-known agile-lean principles and methodologies, and puts them together to address challenges not only on team level, but also on program, large solution and portfolio level. Although the framework is described in more details than other comparable frameworks it is not very elaborate on how testing and quality practices fit in. This raises new challenges for testers, Q&A and test managers, test architects, test specialists and people in similar roles together with the entire organisation. Derk-Jan de Grood and Mette Bruhn-Pedersen describe what guidance SAFe actually provides and suggest additional ways test and QA professionals can contribute with their special knowledge and expertise.
The presentation is based on the authors’ experience and an expert session at the 22nd Testing Retreat (2017, Hereford UK). The Testing Retreat is a peer-conference where leaders in the testing and quality profession share their experiences and insights. The participants discussed quality measures and actions that test professionals can take to ensure quality when using SAFe throughout the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC). We thank all for their valuable contributions.
FCB Partners Course Preview: Process Owners in ActionFCBPartners
A Three-day Advanced Certification Class on Business Process Management (BPM)
The role of Process Owner is a challenging one, characterized by significant accountability with limited resources and authority. Because process ownership is relatively new to many organizations, people taking on the role have had little guidance, training, or opportunity to learn from peers. The purpose of this course is to illuminate the role, explore the challenges, offer practical approaches, and enable individuals to successfully navigate opportunities, constraints, and conflicting priorities. This is a course for Process Owners, Managers, and Leaders seeking to improve their effectiveness as well as the staff and consultants supporting them.

Elevating Tactical DDD Patterns Through Object CalisthenicsDorra BARTAGUIZ
After immersing yourself in the blue book and its red counterpart, attending DDD-focused conferences, and applying tactical patterns, you're left with a crucial question: How do I ensure my design is effective? Tactical patterns within Domain-Driven Design (DDD) serve as guiding principles for creating clear and manageable domain models. However, achieving success with these patterns requires additional guidance. Interestingly, we've observed that a set of constraints initially designed for training purposes remarkably aligns with effective pattern implementation, offering a more ‘mechanical’ approach. Let's explore together how Object Calisthenics can elevate the design of your tactical DDD patterns, offering concrete help for those venturing into DDD for the first time!

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).

Climate Impact of Software Testing at Nordic Testing DaysKari Kakkonen
My slides at Nordic Testing Days 6.6.2024
Climate impact / sustainability of software testing discussed on the talk. ICT and testing must carry their part of global responsibility to help with the climat warming. We can minimize the carbon footprint but we can also have a carbon handprint, a positive impact on the climate. Quality characteristics can be added with sustainability, and then measured continuously. Test environments can be used less, and in smaller scale and on demand. Test techniques can be used in optimizing or minimizing number of tests. Test automation can be used to speed up testing.
zkStudyClub - Reef: Fast Succinct Non-Interactive Zero-Knowledge Regex ProofsAlex Pruden
This paper presents Reef, a system for generating publicly verifiable succinct non-interactive zero-knowledge proofs that a committed document matches or does not match a regular expression. We describe applications such as proving the strength of passwords, the provenance of email despite redactions, the validity of oblivious DNS queries, and the existence of mutations in DNA. Reef supports the Perl Compatible Regular Expression syntax, including wildcards, alternation, ranges, capture groups, Kleene star, negations, and lookarounds. Reef introduces a new type of automata, Skipping Alternating Finite Automata (SAFA), that skips irrelevant parts of a document when producing proofs without undermining soundness, and instantiates SAFA with a lookup argument. Our experimental evaluation confirms that Reef can generate proofs for documents with 32M characters; the proofs are small and cheap to verify (under a second).

Observability Concepts EVERY Developer Should Know -- DeveloperWeek Europe.pdfPaige Cruz
Monitoring and observability aren’t traditionally found in software curriculums and many of us cobble this knowledge together from whatever vendor or ecosystem we were first introduced to and whatever is a part of your current company’s observability stack.
While the dev and ops silo continues to crumble….many organizations still relegate monitoring & observability as the purview of ops, infra and SRE teams. This is a mistake - achieving a highly observable system requires collaboration up and down the stack.
I, a former op, would like to extend an invitation to all application developers to join the observability party will share these foundational concepts to build on:

Epistemic Interaction - tuning interfaces to provide information for AI supportAlan Dix
Paper presented at SYNERGY workshop at AVI 2024, Genoa, Italy. 3rd June 2024
https://alandix.com/academic/papers/synergy2024-epistemic/
As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.

Securing your Kubernetes cluster_ a step-by-step guide to success !KatiaHIMEUR1
Today, after several years of existence, an extremely active community and an ultra-dynamic ecosystem, Kubernetes has established itself as the de facto standard in container orchestration. Thanks to a wide range of managed services, it has never been so easy to set up a ready-to-use Kubernetes cluster.
However, this ease of use means that the subject of security in Kubernetes is often left for later, or even neglected. This exposes companies to significant risks.
In this talk, I'll show you step-by-step how to secure your Kubernetes cluster for greater peace of mind and reliability.
