Failure Of The Stalemate On The Western Front
The main theatre of fighting in World War One was on the Western Front. The Western Front was
a stretch of land weaving through France and Belgium from the Swiss Boarder to the North Sea.
The belligerents on the Western front consisted of the central powers, Austria Hungary and
Germany pitted against the Entente Powers. This involved the British empire, the Russian
empire and the French with the addition of the United States from 1917 onwards. The creation
of the stalemate on the Western Front is linked to a variety of reasons. These include the failure
of the Schlieffen plan, The Battle of the Marne, Plan 17 and the Race to the Sea and the
defensiveness of weapons. Failure of the Schlieffen Plan To a large extent the failure of the
Schlieffen plan was the most significant reason for the creation of the western front. The
Schleiffen Plan was a defensive military strategy to deal with the French and Russian forces ,
staunch allies, in order to avoid a war on two fronts. Which was not what Germany wanted. This
plan created by Von Schleiffen Outlined that troops being sent through Belgium and the
Netherlands whilst simultaneously having the bulk of troops travel down to defend the Alsace
Lorraine region which Germany had gained in the Franco Prussian war (1970). The troops at
Belgium would attack as a hammer swing effect for they would travel south and around Paris
capturing the city whilst the French forces were distracted. However, on the contrary

Human Rights Campaign Paper
The Human Rights Campaign is a nationwide organization that supports the LGBT community, by
promoting equal treatment and rights in all areas of life, both public and personal, and educate on
issues this population faces and promotes political activism. The HRC is the largest national
lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender civil rights organization, and continues to grow. [The
Human Rights Organization is focused on social welfare and equality among gays, lesbians,
bisexuals, and transgender, and effects this mainly through campaigns and events as well as social
media and political lobbying. These goals and methods, however, do not focus on people who do
not fit into LGBTguidelines, nor those with intersectional identities, and thus do not... Show more

Their website includes information about the company, news articles about human rights cases,
how to donate or volunteer, as well as their goals and successes. While the website alone is
packed with information, the other main source of lobbying is through Social Media, such as
Facebook, Instagram, and twitter. They use symbols in which people will post to their wall, or use
as a profile picture, that promotes equality. Social media today is one of the largest resources in
which people learn about and exchange information, and the HRC utilizes this to educate the public
about issues of the LGBT community, and also gather followers and supporters all across the
country and world. This is an essential aspect of their campaign, as it provides a basis of
engagement among members, and allows for open communication across the board. The HRC has
over 2 million followers on Facebook, with hundreds of thousands on Instagram and twitter. The
main point in their use of social media, other than gathering supporters for the campaign, is to
connect the users with effective tools that will contribute to the campaigns support for the LGBT
community. Such tools include interactive maps, location services, information on state policies,
legislation voting records, and

Utopian Society Today
For this project I decided to take an approach that outlines every bit of society today and
transform that into what it would be like in the new utopian world. I spent hours thinking through
certain aspects of the society contemplating pros and cons at every turn. Every aspect of this
utopia had thought behind it and in truth that is the first step to creating a utopia. Society needs
to slow down and think things through more often. The outline of my Utopia that I created is
created with knowledge of existing problems in our world. Yes, some aspects of the Utopia
contain things we have never seen in our present day, but adequate research has allowed me to
make the world as realistic as possible. I know gladly welcome you to explore and interoperate...

In an article written on the issues religion brings to society the author states RELIGION achieves
its highest social ministry when it has least connection with the secular institutions of society. If
caught speaking about it by another member severe punishment will follow. Religion conflict
causes an absurd amount of problems so by not openly showing your beliefs to those outside
your family the conflict should be eliminated. Religion is banned from weddings however, as the
entire community views marriages. The head priest must be an atheist as he can not show favor to
any religion. He is essentially the librarian of the religion building and is not allowed to see the
faces of any people he services. Religion has a few other limitations as you can only practice it in
your free time. Nobody is excused from work for it. Sapnis Zeme has what is called religion weeks.

religions holidays. However, if problems occur and the field of work they are a part of is needed to

Analysis of Romance of Resistacne by Lila Abu-Lughod
The Romance of resistance is an article which is written by Lila Abu Lughod in regard with the
different forms of resistance among the Bedouin women and the traditional structure of power
among the Bedouin Community in the Egypt s Western Desert. She arrived in late 1970 to begin a
fieldwork, and she discovered different forms of resistance among the Bedouinwomen. In this
Article she emphasis on how the Bedouin women resisted the decision of their fathers, uncles, and
older brother, how the resisted the sexually segregation, and sexually irreverent discourse.
Furthermore, it also talk about how local communities are being incorporated into modern states
and integrated into a wider economy.
The first one is sexually segregated, since the community is rule and influence by man particularly
elder so it led to Defiance and women merely take the advantage of secretly like meeting friends or
visiting healer and even sometimes smoking secretly. This shows how women are restricted. The
second form of resistance is girls and women resistance to marriages. Where women have no
control over the arrangement of the marriage but only elder man or relative like uncle and father
decide even they were intimidate and force to marry a person older in age than them. But sometime
girl s mother take stands and refuse the male decision as author mentioned the story of her host that

RE: Proposal for Final Project
I request that you accept my topic for the Writing 465 final project. Hopefully, I will be able to use
this project to help alleviate the current parking problem at Winthrop University. Jack Allen, from
Campus Police, and Walter Hardin, Associate Vice President for Facilities Management, have
shown interest in my project.
BACKGROUND
Winthrop University is a small public school with an enrollment of 5,065 undergraduate students
(Fall 2002). Although there is a wonderful parking system ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

After years more of complaining, they decided to add a parking garage to their campus. Although
this garage eliminated 200 spaces, it added 613. The price of this garage was $5.5 million.
Arkansas State used the parking deck, as well as the reserved parking system to help alleviate their
situation. Many other campuses utilize the same systems, such as: University of Cincinnati,
University of Iowa, University of Louisville, University of Pittsburgh, University of South Florida,
University of Tennessee, University of Wisconsin, and many more.
There are currently only a handful of reserved spaces on campus, and the ground has yet to be
broken for the construction of the parking deck. In fact, Winthrop University does not even have
all the funds needed to build this parking deck. When I approached Jack Allen, of Campus Police,
with my idea of reserved parking spaces, he told me that he thought it was a good idea. Walter
Hardin, when given the same idea, seemed to think that the reserved parking system would not
realistically work out but was open to the proposal.
PROPOSED PROJECT
I am planning to find the funding needed to establish reserved parking at Winthrop University
through Campus Police and the current traffic and parking system. Hopefully, Winthrop University
and Campus Police will recognize the need and responsibility to fund these reserved parking spaces.
My report will

Peaceful Resistance
Resistance to laws positively impact a free society. The ability to resist and protest is a freedom in
itself, and gives the government feedback from the American citizens. Without peaceful resistance,
our government would not know what to change and people would get progressively more mad
every day.
Peaceful resistance gives the people the ability to stop laws and regulations that they oppose. If
this resistance was taken away, the government would pretty much have complete control over its
people. This goes against the Constitution and obviously would not be a good idea. People would
get very angry and bitter with the government, which is not a good idea in the slightest. Everyone
desires to be free, including people who are currently not. In countries where people are oppressed
and diminished, they surely desire to protest against their governments. When these people try to
protest, they are sometimes jailed or killed. This is not what a free society stands for, and surely
not what America ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is something that is evident in our society with the recent shootings of African Americans
by police officers. The people do not exactly trust our government or the law enforcement, due to
several occurrences because of these recent happenings. Peaceful protest allows individuals to
speak their mind when and where they want to. With Trump being elected just a couple days ago,
Americans are already taking advantage of this freedom by protesting around the country. People
are not fond of him, and therefore are resisting what they do not like. These protests are beneficial
to America due to the point that it is getting across to our government. Congress and the people are
baffled as how this could have happened, and are currently voicing their opinions. With these
people at work, the word is getting across America and is spreading across the

Negative Influences Of Fashion
Teenagers are exposed to numerous different pressures of having perfect bodies, and attractive
faces. Whether they get the advice from magazines, television, or the internet, many girls and boys
want to achieve society s idea of exquisiteness and perfection. Since these outlooks are huge
supporters to the adolescentslow self esteems, these are the prime reasons for the high numbers of
cases and operations done.
To begin, magazines are a huge factor towards the youth s views for beauty and trends. Many
fashion companies and brands use teenagers for targeting advertising, since they are the next
generation, or the future of fashion. However, the companies only place specific looks, and
models expose the next generations to their ideals of beauty . The fashion world has evolved
greatly through time, but still possess superficial opinions. Only a few types of beauty are
acceptable. In fact, some fashion magazines in the United States still use unhealthy models, and
heavily edited photos and discloses them as real, or natural. However, France and other countries
are stopping the damaging trend. Writer, Venessa Friedman (2017), of the New York Times writes
about the innovative laws and regulations for models and the fashion world. Models must obtain a
medical certificate from doctors pronouncing them in healthy conditions and weights. The thinner
models encourage eating disorders and teenagers to receive liposuction to achieve their smaller
physique. To add, the laws decree

Utilization Of Water Ethical Issue
Hi Aldi and Jenna, I appreciate that you shared about different ethical and legal issues relating to
п»їwater as a resource. This is really an important point that if the State is inefficient in proper
utilization of water, Federal Government should either find some alternative for proper utilization
of water or declare State of Emergency. The argument strongly support different water ethics
concept. But, this might create a situation where it changes from ethical issue to the political issue.
The whole idea to implement this requires to work on certain prerequisites. Regulating the
equivalent use of water at domestic level is a major ethical issue. Agricultural sector and industries

Walt Disney and Jet-Age City Planning Essay
Walt Disney and Jet Age City Planning
Image borrowed from Waltopia. When is a planned community too planned? Some of the exhibits
displayed at the 1939 World s Fair such as Democracity and Futurama influenced many American
community planners. The Levittown and Greenbelt projects followed the same guidelines of
community that the 1939 World s Fair introduced. These are two of the more well known Garden
City projects that took many families away from big cities and brought them to the peace and
tranquility of the suburbs. On February 2nd, 1967, Walter Elias Disney announced the plans to
create a domed community. This community would be known as the Experimental Prototype
Community of Tomorrow [EPCOT]. In this note, I will discuss how... Show more content on

The look of the city and the layout of the enclosed communities looked strikingly similar to past
garden city projects.
Image borrowed from Waltopia. The similarities between Disney s dream and that of Ebenezer
Howard are striking. Howard s Garden city was designed in concentric circles with the center of
all the circles being a large garden and park that was encircled by a Crystal Palace. In EPCOT,
rings that formed the concentric layout of the city would divide the town. The outer most circle
would consist of the most modern houses of the time, and would perpetually be remodeled to
incorporate the latest technology (Waltopia.com, 1999). The middle ring would consist of a
massive green belt that would include churches, playgrounds, and schools. The innermost ring, and
the most spectacular of all would be enclosed by a dome and would provide immediate access to
the center of town. The hub of the innermost ring would be accented by an enormous and modern
30 story hotel that would act as the center of commerce for the city, much like the Crystal Palace
did for Ebenezer s Garden City. As with most plannedcommunities of the time such as Levittown
and the Greenbelt Programs, the community members would be selected in order to form the most
ideal society as possible and isolate them from the dangers of traditional public life. As Walt Disney

The Real-Life Counterparts of 1984 s Oceania Essay
Adolf Hitler and Joseph Stalin are household names, but what about the more obscure individuals
Muammar Qaddafi, Xi Jinping, and Kim Jong un? George Orwell used 1984 as a prediction of
what could happen if the fascism in Nazi Germany and Soviet Russia persisted. The dystopian,
fascist government that exists in 1984 resembles the governments in the real life, modern day
countries of Libya, China, and North Korea. The governmentin Orwell s Oceania is fascist, causing
citizens like Winston and Julia to hate the government. O Brien explains the future of Oceania s
government to Winston, when he says: If you want a picture of the future, imagine a boot stamping

In the following passage, O Brien explains the comparison between Oceania s government and
the governments of the past that resemble theirs, We are different from all the oligarchies of the
past, in that we know what we are doing. All the others, even those who resembled ourselves,
were cowards and hypocrites. The German Nazis and the Russian Communists came very close
to us in their methods, but they never had the courage to recognize their own motives (Orwell
236). O Brien says that what differentiates Big Brother from the Nazis is that Big Brother knows
its intent. Paraphrasing what O Brien tries to convey, it can be stated that even though the Nazis
killed millions of innocent civilians, as did the Russian communists, they were not as horrible
as Big Brother because they did not understand that they were wrong. O Brien states that Big
Brother has cupidity for power and no other motivation to be fascist. To compare, in the book
Libya and Qaddafi by Don Lawson, Lawson says of Qaddafi: Today there is little doubt in most
Western observers minds that Qaddafi is very much his own person, taking orders from no one
and wanting only what he believes best for his country. This, of course, can be an admirable
quality. But it can have a dark side as well. Adolf Hitler was also his own person and a fierce
nationalist, but the methods he used to attain his goals resulted not only in the deaths of millions of

try and prevent anxiety in children have not worked due to lack of information and costs.
(Evans, D.L.,2005). There has been a lot of research done to find out the potential causes of
anxiety, but no conclusive results. Although you can t prevent anxiety disorders, you can take
steps to reduce the impact. (Mayo Clinic, 2015). Step 1 is to get help early on and don t wait for
your symptoms to worsen. Step 2 would be to journal about how you feel and what triggers your

Not only do the women feel the pressures of dowry, but their parent s and families feel the brunt
of the formidable pressure as well. Because of this, parents view their daughters as a burden
(Kishawr, 2005). Increasingly families in India have more of a desire to birth sons instead of
daughters. Umar (1998,) explains this dynamic further saying, Indian social system give
considerable importance to the birth of a male child. Unlike a daughter who must change loyalties
after marriage a son is considered to be a good investment and insurance for the future . In an
instance where woman who is already pressured by inadequate dowry, does not birth a son, she
will oftentimes be murdered, and if not murdered, compelled to commit suicide. There are several
concerns that breed bride burning. In his vigilant study, Umar (1998) examines the causative
factors leading to harassment, violence and ultimately bride burning of Indian women in their
matrimonial homes. He discusses three main causes of the issue, the rigidity of the divorce law,
maintenance of socioeconomic status for Indian families and economic inequality in relation to
poverty of husband and In laws. In India, marriage is considered the foundation of social formation
and is heavily based on Hindu religious traditions. According to Umar (1998), Shastric Hindu Law
considered marriage to be unbreakable and eternal. The belief that divorce is unacceptable stems
from this religious tradition. There have however,

Analysis Of To Build A Fire By Jack London
A story s setting can be impacted by plot, theme and mood. One thing that impacts setting is plot.
An example of how plot impacts setting is the location. The evidence that I found in the story, To
Build a Fire, by Jack London, to support how the location affects the plot is that it sets the tone. The
main characters goal was get to camp to meet up with his boys . With the weather getting bad and
the man not making it to the location it just makes the story. Could you imagine the story taking
place at a park, or at the beach? The next piece of evidence would of course be how the blizzard
affects the setting of the story. London describes the ground that the man was walking on was a
thin sheet of ice with three feet of snowon top of that. This plays an important part because later in
the story the man starts walking and doesn t notice that he was actually walking on the frozen
lake until he falls through. So with there being a blizzard going on it snowed a lot on the Yukon
Mountains. This means you could see the footprints of other traveler but unfortunately those
footprints would be gone in an hour. The second impact would be theme. In To Build a Fire,
there are three themes throughout the story. Those themes are listen to your elders, to be
prepared, and learn from your mistakes. Because of the time period of the story, people were
raised to respect their elders. Unfortunately, the main character didn t. The man from Sulphur
Creek had spoken the truth when telling how cold it sometimes got in the country, and he had
laughed at him at the time! (pg 4) Within a few paragraphs later the man wishes he would have
listened to the old man s advice which was not to travel alone when it gets to 50 degrees below
or lower. The second theme discussed throughout the story is how to be prepared. London tells
us that the man that the man did pack but not like he was suppose do. He felt that he was strong
and could handle anything so all he needed was his bag and jacket. Meaning he definitely didn t
pack the correct clothes to wear in a blizzard. That is why he got frostbite. Later we even find out
that the man only had his two biscuits with bacon warm in his jacket for him and his dog. The last

Martin Luther King s Argument Against Affirmative Action
Today s society emphasizes the need of equal opportunities; everyone should have equal chances
despite their race, gender, or other characteristics. However, there are still many barriers and
biases, often unconscious, which do not let to embrace the potential of everyone. Even though
Civil Right Era made a good improvement, because of the long years of legal racismand sexism,
ethnic minority members and women are still disadvantaged by the system. It is obvious that
something should be done about it and one of the ways to reduce inequality is affirmative action.
Affirmative action is an amalgam of federal, state, and local ordinances and other legislative
mandates to remedy inequities in employment for traditionally marginalized groups ... Show more

Martin Luther King Jr. was definitely one of the most influential characters in the history of
equal rights. He was the one who brought world s attention to unequal and unfair treatment of
African Americans. Although he was assassinated before affirmative action was introduced, he
agreed that some actions should be taken in order to reduce inequality: We must come to see
that the roots of racism are very deep in our country, and there must be something positive and
massive in order to get rid of all the effects of racism and the tragedies of racial injustice (King,
1968). For policy to work and to have space for improvement it is extremely important to have
support from the society. Majority of Americans favor affirmative action and the support have
been growing in the past years. Currently, 70% say they favor affirmative action programs, up
from 58% in 1995 (The Pew Research Center, 2009:39). 94% of African Americans favored such
programs and 65% of whites, compared to 53% in 1995, support affirmative action (The Pew
Research Center, 2009:40). Furthermore, sixty five leading Fortune 500 companies (ex. Coca
Cola, Intel, Kraft Foods, Nike, Pepsi, Microsoft, 3M etc.) stated their support for affirmative action
during the court process Grutter v. Bollinger, where Barbara Grutter filed the law suit, claiming
that the University of Michigan Law School denied her admission because school applied race as a
dominant factor in application process. The existence of racial and ethnic diversity in institutions
of higher education is vital to amici s efforts to hire and maintain a diverse workforce, and to
employ individuals of all backgrounds who have been educated and trained in diverse environment
(Brief For Amici Curiae. 65 Leading American Businesses in Support of Respondents, 2003:1).

Rome And Han Comparison Essay
Owen Timmy
Group LEQ: Rome and Han Comparison
By the second and third centuries C.E, trade routes were connecting many civilizations across the
land and sea. These routes traded not only goods, but new beliefs and values as well. However,
something malicious also spread through these trade routes: disease. Both the Roman and Han
empires experienced imperial decline due to epidemic diseases spread by trade routes as well as
conflicts with neighboring forces due to clashing beliefs, however the Han Empire faced more
internal problems, whereas the Romans faced unrest from outside of the empire.

China mainly faced internal struggles, while the Romans mainly faced problems from external
sources. One problem was the aristocrats forming factions among each other, with each faction
seeking to gain more power for itself, which weakened the central government. Another problem
was the uneven distribution of land. Many landowners that possessed most of the land, were
powerful figures in the government who shifted the tax burden onto peasants. This angered the
peasants, who started the Yellow Turban Rebellion in 184 C.E. While the rebellion was
unsuccessful in overthrowing the empire, the unhappiness of the peasants would later lead to
many more uprisings. By 220 C.E, the emperor had no real political power and the Han generals
abolished the empire and divided it into three large kingdoms. On the other hand, the Romans
were faced with a massive empire that they struggled to manage. From 235 to 284 C.E, there
were 26 different barrack emperors who controlled Rome. The position was unstable, and many
of them were betrayed and killed. The Roman economy was also going downhill, and they were
also faced with a population decline. These factors also created a lack of resources needed to
protect the empire. China s internal problems were due to the peasants feeling like they were being
mistreated; Rome s problems were due to its size and the population

Three Types of Friends Essay
A friend is defined as someone emotionally close or somebody who trusts and is fond of another.
The affect that a person one calls his or her acquaintance can sometimes be very deep and
heartfelt. From my experience, I have encountered three types of friends: the chronic complainer,
the staller, and the know it all. A chronic complainer is a he or she that is fault finding. Chronic
complainers choose to blame someone else or something for his or her actions. Also, they are
uncertain about what should be done. I have this friend that I consider a chronic complainer; she
never takes the blame for anything and no matter what the situation is she s going to find a

The staller would not be of any help with moving or any other hard job. The person I know that
fits this description is not a friend but actually a family member. This person comes to do the
simplest job ever, but has to call two or three more people to come help him out. Instead of him
helping he stands there and gives out orders to everyone else. He also dose not get his important
business handled; he likes to sit around and wait until the last minute or until it s too late before
he tries to do anything about a situation. This is not someone who you would want helping you
with some very important job. Last but not least is the know it all. The know it all acts superior
and makes others feel stupid. They also maybe bullheaded and impatient; know it alls really don
need or want any help. One of my closest friends is a prime example of a know it all. She knows
everything that is discussed and want let anyone else put there say so in about the topic. One
day one of my cousins and I were talking about the cost of daycare and she just cut both of us off
and went on talking about the different costs. She didn t know what she was talking about
because she dose not have any kids. So when I cut her off and went to correcting her she got so

attractiveness of celebrities, biasedly rating individuals is difficult to prevent. The individuals
rating the celebrities could be constantly reminded to base rates primarily on attractiveness and by
asking a varying group of people to rate the individuals to get the opinion of a mock society.
However, a more accurate solution to this problem would be to have surveyors rate photos of
random individuals that they have more than likely never had exposure to or contact with. This
would ensure that bias does not get in the way of collecting an accurate average rate of
attractiveness. Incorrect measurements

Capital Structure theories
Capital Structure Theories
Capital Structure
Capital Structure is the proportion of debt, preference and equity capitals in the total financing of
the firm s assets. The main objective of financial management is to maximize the value of the equity
shares of the firm. Given this objective, the firm has to choose that financing mix/capital structure
that results in maximizing the wealth of the equity shareholders. Such a capital structure is called
as the optimum capital structure. At the optimum capital structure, the weighted average cost of
capital would be the minimum. The capital structure decision influences the value of the firm
through its cost of capital and can affect the share of the earnings that pertain to the equity ... Show

This approach also says that the overall cost of capital is independent of the degree of leverage.
Features of NOI approach:
1. At all degrees of leverage (debt), the overall capitalization rate would remain constant. For a
given level of Earnings before Interest and Taxes (EBIT), the value of a firm would be equal to
EBIT/overall capitalization rate.
2. The value of equity of a firm can be determined by subtracting the value of debt from the total
value of the firm. This can be denoted as follows:
Value of Equity = Total value of the firm Value of debt
3. Cost of equity increases with every increase in debt and the weighted average cost of capital
(WACC) remains constant. When the debt content in the capital structure increases, it increases the
risk of the firm as well as its shareholders. To compensate for the higher risk involved in investing in
highly levered company, equity holders naturally expect higher returns which in turn increases the
cost of equity capital.
Example:
Let us assume that a firm has an EBIT level of $50,000, cost of debt 10%, the total value of debt
$200,000 and the WACC is 12.5%. Let us find out the total value of the firm and the cost of equity
capital (the equity capitalization rate).
Solution:
EBIT

Australia And Japan Expressed Their Interest Of Signing A...
Australia and Japan expressed their interest in signing a defence technology cooperation agreement
after Japanese Prime Minister Abe and Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott s meeting during
Abe s visit to Australia in July (Prime Minister of Australia 2014). This is surprising for the
international society as the Japanese constitution did not allow Japan to export its military
technologies until the Japanese government s recent change to Article 9 (Nye 2014). Even though
the agreement is not signed yet, this news had attracted many attention from around the globe.
There are various kinds of explanations and analyzations on why this two states would choose to
release such information at this time. The argument for this essay would be that the defence
technology cooperation agreement may be one of the many policies that aims on making Japan a
normal country, in response in the rising power of China and the threats from Korea, so that it can
play a better role in balancing regional security. This essay will try to prove this argument by briefly
introducing why Japan is not a normal country within the international society and Prime Minister
Abe s recent efforts to change this situation, how a defence technology cooperation agreement
between Australia and Japan can play a critical role on this matter, why Japan and Australia are
considering choose to sign such agreement with each other, and the incentives for Australia to
support Japan s goal of strengthening its military

Children with Special Needs and How They Interact
As numerous people have stated before, if you want to understand someone, take a walk in their
shoes. From this, one is not able to truly comprehend the feelings someone may have or how many
difficulties a person endeavors on a day to day basis, unless they spend time with them. The topic
that I helped research as a group for our senior project was how students with special needs
cooperate with others like them, and then how they interact with people in society that do not have
these needs. While researching this project, I kept one question in mind, what similarities and
differences occur with these children when they are brought into these situations with new people.
Through our mentor, we were able to interact with the special needs... Show more content on

With proper guidance and support, these children with disabilities can be able to interact with other
children unlike them in a comfortable environment. Furthermore, it has been seen in many instants
where children with disabilities are able to interact with similar children with ease than to that of
others. A variety of reasons can be held accountable for this explanation, such as how much time is
spent with comparable children, and the emotions that are felt during these time periods. For
example, during our interview, our mentor was able to inform us on how caring the children are for
one another, which I feel takes into account where they spend the majority of their day in school
together, and those students are the children that they interact with almost everyday. Additionally,
many will say that the more time you spend with a person, the more you get to know them and care
for them, which is proof with these children. Some however, may not want to branch out and
socialize with other children, which even though I feel these students would benefit from the
experience, people can not be pressured into something they are not comfortable doing. When
doing this sort of project, there are certain risks and learning experiences that come with the
opportunity we were presented with. In order to fully commit myself to this project, a certain level
of commitment and connection had to be made with the task at hand. Before this project was

Flowers For Algernon Dilemmas
Dilemmas happen everyday. Some dilemmas can be good, and some can be bad. A dilemma is
a situation in which a difficult choice has to be made between two or more alternatives. In the
story, Flowers For Algernon by Daniel Keyes wrote a story about a 37 year old man named
Charlie who has a disability, he doesn t understand thing that normal people can. He then is
encouraged by his teacher to get a surgery done to become smarter. Some people think that the
surgery was a good idea,or some think it was a bad idea. In my opinion, I think that Charlie made
the wrong decision about the surgery. Some people think that Charlie should of have the operation
to make his dream come true In my opinion, I think he shouldn t have had the surgery because,
people weren t expecting him to be new, it would not be permanent, and he put his life in danger.
One reason why I think the surgery was a bad idea was because, no one was expecting him as a
friend. When Charlie got his surgery, some people at his work were realizing that Charlie had
changed, and was starting to have feelings. Look at him. His face is red.He s blushing. Charlie is

Iowa State University Office Of The President
Introduction
Around 300,000 American students are able to partake in studying abroad each year (Klebnikov,
Sergei). With over 7 billion people spread throughout the world we may think that experiencing
places in our own county is seemingly impossible. However, today we have so many opportunities
to travel the world as young people. Iowa State University has focused on giving students of all
different backgrounds the ability to go out and experience the world.
Analysis of Mission
Iowa State University prides itself on its mission to Create, share, and apply knowledge to make
Iowa and the world a better place (Iowa State University Office of the President: Mission and
Vision). This mission focuses on the success of each and every student that attends Iowa State. In
order for Iowa State s Study Abroad program to follow the foundational mission of the entire
university, it had to create a mission that also focused on the students. The mission they have
formed and stand today consists of: putting emphasis on developing strong international
adventures. In order for students to go out to other countries to receive a quality education, the
Study Abroad program must create a strong base on which they are able to form equal quality
education as Iowa State provides no matter where a student goes. To promote opportunities that are
inclusive and affordable for all students. To prepare students and directors for success when
studying abroad. To advance standards of safety and uphold

One Ring In The Hobbit
A symbol in The Hobbit is the One Ring. Rings normally symbolise eternity, and longevity because
a circle has no ending, but the One Ring symbolised both good and evil characteristics, like power
and commitment, but temptation and having no control. In the story, one example of someone who
had no control was Gollum, the corrupted hobbit. Gollum started out as a nice hobbit named
SmГ©agol, but he inadvertently found the One Ringand became addicted to it. He had no control
over what he was doing, and was tempted by the ring s power and kept on using it. Finally he
became fully corrupted and called the ring my precious and he started screaming and crying
when Bilbo took the One Ring from him. The book says: He wanted it because it was a ring of
power, and if you slipped that ring on your finger, you were invisible; only in full sunlight could
you be seen, and then only by your shadow, and that would be shaky and faint. The book also says

Child Independence Research Paper
Independence
As a child, one does not make decisions for oneself. Parents shape the lives of their children into the
person they want their child to become. They put their children into the sports, activities, and
hobbies that they think will take their children down a successful path. Then the time comes when
their child needs to start making decisions on their own. Although the children are not independent
adults yet, this time is a huge part of their transformation from sheltered childhood into independent
adulthood.
Growing up, my parents had me in every sport and activity possible. Soccer, dance, basketball,
softball, cheerleading, you name it. The older I got, the busier I got, causing me to drop all sports

The Spanish Empire, And The Empire Of The Portuguese Empire
Portugal: In existence for nearly six centuries, the Portuguese Empire was one of the largest and
longest lived empires in the world and the first colonial empire of the Renaissance. Portugal s
colonization style followed two basic patterns: in Asia, the Portuguese conquered cities, then
monopolize trade; whereas in Africa and the Americas, they occupied expansive territories where
European political organization was imposed on existing indigenous societies. The royal crown
withheld strict control of justice, fortified by the authority of royal agents; in this system natives
were rarely if ever given any mechanism for self governance in their own lands. Hence, the crown
created colonial institutions endowed with vague jurisdictions intended to act as a check and
balance system for each other. Although this strategy worked to solidify Portuguese presence and
establish dominance across the globe, the recurring approvals and consultations required by the
monarchical administrative procedure hindered Portuguese efficiency and rule for its far reaching
empire, especially for immediate concerns like military threats. Instead of a strong empire with
precise and defined areas of responsibility, the superpower worked through a precarious
arrangement of vertical and horizontal surveillance among officials as a means of defending their
supreme authority. This framework eventually led to a rather weak centralized empire in which the
intermediate levels of authority oversaw day to day

Conquest Of Ai Analysis
The Conquest of Ai Joshua 7:1 9 outlines the initial failed attack on Ai. One possible reading is to
say that the omission of YHWH s voice in the attack is the reason that they were defeated. While
there is some truth that can be extracted from this, I think it s more beneficial to note that the text
attributes this failure to the poor military advice given to Joshua (Joshua 7:3). In addition, it is also
helpful to note the lack of reason given for the Israelitesneeding to take on Ai. Unlike the two
occurrences with Mosesthat I have already mentioned, Ai posed to no threat to the Israelites.
Unlike Jericho, YHWH gave no command regarding whether Ai was to be attacked or not. Verses

Because I think that it is an essential lesson for the nation of the United States to heed. We are
now that military force striking all over the world. We have done it so much that we have
masked God s voice because of our love for military activity. We send people out in his name we
bless the work that soldiers do, including the violence that they enact with others. If the United
States is truly 83% Christian, then I plead for more people to analyze this story of the Israelites
and the city of Ai, and that we learn the lessons clear to us from the text.
Military activity, particularly when it is unwarranted or for a single nation s benefit, silences
the voice of God in a society. The silencing of God allows for people to falsely speak on his
behalf. It s something that we have seen more clearly in modern times through the unrest in the
Middle East, but it has been a part of our culture for a long time now. This activity needs to cease

destruction and violence into the world. And what kind of world are we living in, if God cannot

Sometimes, something as simple as one s server can give that extra little edge.
Server Side Hardware Requirements The very first iteration of Xbox Live did not even have a
name, as it was simply a server system set up by Microsoft to allow video game players the
ability to play with other players over the internet. The first Xbox, also known more
affectionately as Xbox Original, or XO, was released in 2001. This system was supported by
500 servers, according to Ed Grabianowski and Stephanie Crawford in their 2006 article for Live
Technology, which was dispersed through four locations in three countries: the United States,
England, and Japan. This initial set up is estimated to have cost Microsoft $500 million, and was
considered by the company to be one of the necessary start up costs for their first entry into the
console wars. Rich Miller (2013) further reports that the server numbers jumped to over 3,000
when the Xbox 360 (X360) was released in 2005 and again to 300,000 in 2013 with the

Summary Of The School Days Of Indian Girl By Zitkala-Sa
Zitkala Sa s autobiography informs her readers of the damaging and traumatizing effects of
assimilation by utilizing her life experiences as a narrative, demonstrating how living under an
oppressive and dominant culture was an internal struggle between society s expectations and her
own cultural identity. Sa s experience is especially unique considering her mixed heritage as well.
Zitkala Sa s The School Days of an Indian Girl is an autobiography that was published in the
Atlantic Monthly in 1901. The autobiography in detail describes her experience in her
community, the Yankton Indian Reservation in South Dakota as a child and later her journey
ravelling with European American missionaries to attend a Quaker Missionary School that
teaches speaking, reading and writing in English. Upon her arrival at the missionary led school,
Sa felt ostracized, fearful, and terrified of every little adjustment or ordeal that appeared to be
foreign or unknown to her based upon her cultural identity and heritage. Her trauma often led to
many nights where she would sob and cry herself to sleep. Her daunting experiences of having
her heritage ripped away ensued when Sa caught word that her long and heavy hair was to be cut
(314). From the teachings from her Mother, Sa understood that only the unskilled warriors who
were captured had their hair shingled by the enemy (314). She cried and shook her head with
anguish but as her thick braids were cut she then lost her spirit (315).

A rightward moving rider gradually becomes an upward moving rider, then a leftward moving
rider, then a downward moving rider, before finally becoming a rightward moving rider once

speed. As the rider begins to climb upward the loop, he/she begins to slow down. What we talked
about suggests that an increase in height results in a decrease in kinetic energy and speed and a
decrease in height results in an increase in kinetic energy and speed. So the rider experiences the
greatest speeds at the bottom of the loop. The change in speed as the rider moves through the
loop is the second part of acceleration which the riders experiences. A rider who moves through a

acceleration of the rider has two components. There is a component which is directed towards the

Difference Between Voluntary And Voluntary Resignation Of...
Voluntary versus forced resignation of directors Voluntary resignation of directors A termination
of employment initiated by the employee or by mutual agreement with the employer in which a
letter of resignation is submitted. In most cases of voluntary termination, employees will
provide notice of their intent to resign to allow for a more orderly transition of responsibilities.
Forced resignation of directors A forced resignation is when an employee is required to depart
from their position due to some issue caused by their continued employment. A forced
resignation may be due to the employer s wishes to dismiss the employee, but the employer may
be offering a softened firing. In a high profile position the employee may want to leave before the

voluntary and forced resignation Agency One of the biggest difference between voluntary and
forced resignation is who gives the resignation of employment. Both voluntary and forced
resignation signify that the employment will end, but when someone is forced to resign it means
that the employer has decided to sever the employment. The employer can sever employment for
any reason, so long as it is not based on issues of race, religion or the sex of the employee. The

Essay On Assimilation In Canada
Within the international community Canada is regarded as an ethnically diverse country.
Conversely having many cultures under one roof does not represent multiculturalism. Over the 150

their cultures fight to hold onto their heritage. This heritage which they regard very highly is

Hebrews In Babylonia
(1) What events lead to the exile of the Hebrews in Babylonia? To the Hebrew people, their exile
to Babylonia and the destruction of the First Temple was brought on because they had displeased
Yahweh by not following his laws and by not living a lifestyle devoted to him. Once the Hebrews
reached the land of Canaan, division splintered them into eleven tribes, but with war constantly
occurring in the neighboring nations, the Israelitessoon realized they had to unite if the Jewish
people and religion were going to survive: The eleven Hebrew tribes were united under one king.
The Kingdom of Israelprospered for a short time and under the rule of King David and the aid of
his son Solomon the First Temple was constructed as a home for Yahweh. But when Solomon died,
the Kingdom of Israel splintered again into the northern and southern kingdoms. This factoring left

The idea of Satan is linked to the Babylonian Exile/Captivity due to the influences that
Babylonian culture had on the Hebrew people. This includes the evil spirits and demons in
Babylonian belief and resentment towards Babylonians for the destruction of the First
Temple/ the exile of the Hebrews in Babylonia. Satan is an evil spirit who fights against god and
his people, belief in him and his stance against god stems from the mistreatment of the
Jewish people by Babylonians which was seen as a stance the Babylonians took against Yahweh.
The religion of the conquering people also influenced the idea of Satan in Judaism and is evident by
the similarities that Babylonian evil spirits share with the many depictions of Satan in Jewish belief.

Controversial Political Cartoons
In mid two thousand and eight, a New York magazine had circulated a controversial political
cartoon targeting the White House s current residents, the President, and first lady. Within weeks
many other news companies like CBS, NBC, and even Huffington post had some sort of written
article on this controversy. This though had been one of many controversial cartoons they had
circulated throughout their years of business. When they had circulated this one though they didn t
expect that big of a backlash. For them to keep their cartoon on the front page they had a lot of

History Of The Hollywood Studio System
The Hollywood studio system ran from 1927 to 1948. It applied the ideas and principles of a
manufacturing assembly line to the making of movies. During this time each studio created a
uniformed look to their productions, which allowed them to focus on quantity over
experimentation (Barsam, 469). By having every employee, especially actors, writers, and
directors under contract the studio was able to dictate not only the look but the stars and director.
This system was created in part as a way to control the cost of making movies. When an actor
signed with a studio they became like property. Their hair, teeth, and even names could be changed
to fit the studios idea or concept (Lewis, 103). This system created efficiency, workers were able

Explain What Autonomy Is In Respect To Human Dignity
1.Explain what autonomy is in respect to human dignity.
Autonomy in respect to human dignity is the right to self determination and it was used to be in
medicine to document all the decisions for the patients but that is not the case anymore. The
patients now have the right to make choices based on their own beliefs, their own values, and their
own needs. As a respiratory therapist, we have to be careful that we should not try to substitute our
religious or cultural beliefs for someone who don t believe in something; we have to remember the
patients are in control. For instance, do not resuscitate orders in some culture would be considered
unacceptable; therefore, we have to do everything to prevent death. ... Show more content on

Some people say that healthcare is a business and we are responsible for paying for our own care
and say that health care pricing should be subject to free market forces as well. This mystery lies
on personal responsibilities, for example, people with bad habits such as smoking or overeating or
speeding and riding their motorcycle without a helmet, they should be charged more for health care
because it is suspected that they are going to cost more in the long run. https://www.aarc.org
/webcasts/ethical decision making in respiratory care 2/ 4.What is the ethical dilemma in Case 1?
What did you select when voting and why did you select that choice?
The ethical dilemma in case 1 is autonomy and non maleficence. The physician writes an order for
respiratory therapy to turn off the ventilator and extubate the patient and what would you do in
that case. I think I would carry out the order because it was both the patient s and family s own
decision. There was no evidence of cognitive impairment, the patient was awake and alert as they
took him out of the sedation and said that

In a quest to explore Christianity, Marshall Petersen began visiting the Sunday school with the
encouragement of his wife. I am his Sunday school teacher and upon further communication, I
informed him of the high antioxidant qualities of the Muscadine grapes my family s produce
company sells, and I asked him if he might be interested in promoting either the grapes
themselves or the various products developed using their seeds. He was interested. The grapes
became a hot commodity and over six months, he paid for orders and delivery has been prompt,
and no issues about payments even though they can be 15 to 30 days late. During one of the
deliveries, Marshall made my son signed a contract that includes a guaranteed price schedule
consistent with what he had been paying. Marshall told him that it was just a formality to
guarantee a continuing business relationship. The signing of that contract established a formal
business agreement between the two companies. Our business transactions were running
perfectly, we were trying to meet the demand for our product, and until recently when a

  • 2. Failure Of The Stalemate On The Western Front The main theatre of fighting in World War One was on the Western Front. The Western Front was a stretch of land weaving through France and Belgium from the Swiss Boarder to the North Sea. The belligerents on the Western front consisted of the central powers, Austria Hungary and Germany pitted against the Entente Powers. This involved the British empire, the Russian empire and the French with the addition of the United States from 1917 onwards. The creation of the stalemate on the Western Front is linked to a variety of reasons. These include the failure of the Schlieffen plan, The Battle of the Marne, Plan 17 and the Race to the Sea and the defensiveness of weapons. Failure of the Schlieffen Plan To a large extent the failure of the Schlieffen plan was the most significant reason for the creation of the western front. The Schleiffen Plan was a defensive military strategy to deal with the French and Russian forces , staunch allies, in order to avoid a war on two fronts. Which was not what Germany wanted. This plan created by Von Schleiffen Outlined that troops being sent through Belgium and the Netherlands whilst simultaneously having the bulk of troops travel down to defend the Alsace Lorraine region which Germany had gained in the Franco Prussian war (1970). The troops at Belgium would attack as a hammer swing effect for they would travel south and around Paris capturing the city whilst the French forces were distracted. However, on the contrary ... • 15. Analysis Of To Build A Fire By Jack London A story s setting can be impacted by plot, theme and mood. One thing that impacts setting is plot. An example of how plot impacts setting is the location. The evidence that I found in the story, To Build a Fire, by Jack London, to support how the location affects the plot is that it sets the tone. The main characters goal was get to camp to meet up with his boys . With the weather getting bad and the man not making it to the location it just makes the story. Could you imagine the story taking place at a park, or at the beach? The next piece of evidence would of course be how the blizzard affects the setting of the story. London describes the ground that the man was walking on was a thin sheet of ice with three feet of snowon top of that. This plays an important part because later in the story the man starts walking and doesn t notice that he was actually walking on the frozen lake until he falls through. So with there being a blizzard going on it snowed a lot on the Yukon Mountains. This means you could see the footprints of other traveler but unfortunately those footprints would be gone in an hour. The second impact would be theme. In To Build a Fire, there are three themes throughout the story. Those themes are listen to your elders, to be prepared, and learn from your mistakes. Because of the time period of the story, people were raised to respect their elders. Unfortunately, the main character didn t. The man from Sulphur Creek had spoken the truth when telling how cold it sometimes got in the country, and he had laughed at him at the time! (pg 4) Within a few paragraphs later the man wishes he would have listened to the old man s advice which was not to travel alone when it gets to 50 degrees below or lower. The second theme discussed throughout the story is how to be prepared. London tells us that the man that the man did pack but not like he was suppose do. He felt that he was strong and could handle anything so all he needed was his bag and jacket. Meaning he definitely didn t pack the correct clothes to wear in a blizzard. That is why he got frostbite. Later we even find out that the man only had his two biscuits with bacon warm in his jacket for him and his dog. The last theme ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Martin Luther King Jr. was definitely one of the most influential characters in the history of equal rights. He was the one who brought world s attention to unequal and unfair treatment of African Americans. For policy to work and to have space for improvement it is extremely important to have support from the society. Majority of Americans favor affirmative action and the support have been growing in the past years. China mainly faced internal struggles, while the Romans mainly faced problems from external sources. One problem was the aristocrats forming factions among each other, with each faction seeking to gain more power for itself, which weakened the central government. This angered the peasants, who started the Yellow Turban Rebellion in 184 C.E. While the rebellion was unsuccessful in overthrowing the empire, the unhappiness of the peasants would later lead to many more uprisings. By 220 C.E, the emperor had no real political power and the Han generals abolished the empire and divided it into three large kingdoms. On the other hand, the Romans were faced with a massive empire that they struggled to manage. From 235 to 284 C.E, there were 26 different barrack emperors who controlled Rome. The position was unstable, and many of them were betrayed and killed. The Roman economy was also going downhill, and they were also faced with a population decline. • 20. Capital Structure theories Capital Structure Theories Capital Structure Capital Structure is the proportion of debt, preference and equity capitals in the total financing of the firm s assets. The main objective of financial management is to maximize the value of the equity shares of the firm. Given this objective, the firm has to choose that financing mix/capital structure that results in maximizing the wealth of the equity shareholders. Such a capital structure is called as the optimum capital structure. At the optimum capital structure, the weighted average cost of capital would be the minimum. The capital structure decision influences the value of the firm through its cost of capital and can affect the share of the earnings that pertain to the equity ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This approach also says that the overall cost of capital is independent of the degree of leverage. Features of NOI approach: 1. At all degrees of leverage (debt), the overall capitalization rate would remain constant. For a given level of Earnings before Interest and Taxes (EBIT), the value of a firm would be equal to EBIT/overall capitalization rate. 2. The value of equity of a firm can be determined by subtracting the value of debt from the total value of the firm. This can be denoted as follows: Value of Equity = Total value of the firm Value of debt 3. Cost of equity increases with every increase in debt and the weighted average cost of capital (WACC) remains constant. When the debt content in the capital structure increases, it increases the risk of the firm as well as its shareholders. To compensate for the higher risk involved in investing in highly levered company, equity holders naturally expect higher returns which in turn increases the cost of equity capital. Example: Let us assume that a firm has an EBIT level of $50,000, cost of debt 10%, the total value of debt $200,000 and the WACC is 12.5%. Let us find out the total value of the firm and the cost of equity capital (the equity capitalization rate). Solution: EBIT ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This is surprising for the international society as the Japanese constitution did not allow Japan to export its military technologies until the Japanese government s recent change to Article 9 (Nye 2014). Even though the agreement is not signed yet, this news had attracted many attention from around the globe. There are various kinds of explanations and analyzations on why this two states would choose to release such information at this time. The topic that I helped research as a group for our senior project was how students with special needs cooperate with others like them, and then how they interact with people in society that do not have these needs. A variety of reasons can be held accountable for this explanation, such as how much time is spent with comparable children, and the emotions that are felt during these time periods. For example, during our interview, our mentor was able to inform us on how caring the children are for one another, which I feel takes into account where they spend the majority of their day in school together, and those students are the children that they interact with almost everyday. Additionally, many will say that the more time you spend with a person, the more you get to know them and care for them, which is proof with these children. Some however, may not want to branch out and socialize with other children, which even though I feel these students would benefit from the experience, people can not be pressured into something they are not comfortable doing. • 31. The Spanish Empire, And The Empire Of The Portuguese Empire Portugal: In existence for nearly six centuries, the Portuguese Empire was one of the largest and longest lived empires in the world and the first colonial empire of the Renaissance. Portugal s colonization style followed two basic patterns: in Asia, the Portuguese conquered cities, then monopolize trade; whereas in Africa and the Americas, they occupied expansive territories where European political organization was imposed on existing indigenous societies. The royal crown withheld strict control of justice, fortified by the authority of royal agents; in this system natives were rarely if ever given any mechanism for self governance in their own lands. Hence, the crown created colonial institutions endowed with vague jurisdictions intended to act as a check and balance system for each other. Although this strategy worked to solidify Portuguese presence and establish dominance across the globe, the recurring approvals and consultations required by the monarchical administrative procedure hindered Portuguese efficiency and rule for its far reaching empire, especially for immediate concerns like military threats. Instead of a strong empire with precise and defined areas of responsibility, the superpower worked through a precarious arrangement of vertical and horizontal surveillance among officials as a means of defending their supreme authority. This framework eventually led to a rather weak centralized empire in which the intermediate levels of authority oversaw day to day ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

To the Hebrew people, their exile to Babylonia and the destruction of the First Temple was brought on because they had displeased Yahweh by not following his laws and by not living a lifestyle devoted to him. Once the Hebrews reached the land of Canaan, division splintered them into eleven tribes, but with war constantly occurring in the neighboring nations, the Israelitessoon realized they had to unite if the Jewish people and religion were going to survive: The eleven Hebrew tribes were united under one king. The Kingdom of Israelprospered for a short time and under the rule of King David and the aid of his son Solomon the First Temple was constructed as a home for Yahweh.
