This document discusses the effects of personal characteristics when explaining music recommendations. It presents research questions about how personal characteristics impact user perception and interaction with a music recommender system when explanations are provided. The study design involves measuring participants' personal traits and having them use a music recommender interface that does or does not provide explanations. Results indicate explanations have a significant impact on perception and interaction, and qualitative analysis reveals differences based on traits like need for cognition. Guidelines are proposed based on traits and explanation type.
