Occupational Health and safety procedures
• Workplace safety describe the policies and procidures that are in place to ensurethe
safety and health of the workers in an organization.
It includes identifying hazards and controls according to the standards of the
goverment, and the continous traning and education for workers on safety procedures
and process.
Importance of Workplace safety
1.Reduce Injuries and redust cost. when a worker is injured during office hours, it will
cost the bussines loss of work hours, increase rate of insurance, and compensation of
the worker, among others.
2.Safe workers are your loyal workers. Any company knows when a worker absenteeism
and attrition cause major impediments.
If a company will create a healthy workplace, it reduce such issues in a lot of ways.
3.Safety improves quality. Bussines that puts safety as their major concern turns out to
have higher quality products.
A safe, efficient working environment that is free of debris and tagled cords.
• Your workplace has its own safety and health system that reflects how the bussines is
doing and the management of employees.
Small companies may only invlove listening to employees concerns and how the
management responds to them.
• The most important thing in an organization is how their system works.
It is the accountability of the manager to ensure that the system works in favor for the
betterment and improvements of workers safety and health.
• It is the resonsibility of an employer to provide a safe working environment for his or
her workers.
However, no matter how good safety policies are, if the workers do not give importance
to it, then it will be for nothing.
The following are key factors in making the program effective
1.Commitment. Put energy in uplifting a work environment that is safe and healthy for the
bussines, for others, and most importantly, for bussines owners.
In order for bussines owners to have a safe and healthy workplace, they must integrate
the following facets to their bussineses.
a. create a policy that gives importance in the workplace.
b. Entrust resources like time, money, and personal which are needed in protecting
workers.
c. Start practicing a safe and healthy work environment. Encourage other workers to do
the same.
d. Prioritize any reports of unsafe and unhealthy conditions of work practices.
e. If accidents or/and injuries happen, it is the duty of everybody in the workplace to help
find the cause.
2.Involve workers. it is a must to include workers in any matters of discussion, especially
when talking about their safety and health.
a. Create a committee that will take charge in promoting safety and health in the
workplace.
b.Conduct daily inspections.
c.orient workers about their health inspections and other related issues.
d.Provide a meaningful work thats spports safety.
e.Always value workers feedback.
f.Present the perogram to workers for their perusal.
g.safety and health responsibilities must be included their job descriptions.
h.provide a clear flow or system in reporting circumstances in the workplace.
i.rewrd workers who always uplift and keep the workplace safe and healthy.
3. Control the Hazards. Hazards must be identified first before controoling them.
a.Review the accidents in the office.
b.Look for common factors that cause the accident.
c.Interview the workers.
d.Analyze the inspection reports.
e.Look over the workplace for problems and status, and if the follows the standards of
bussines establishment.
4.Follow the regulations. Workers and bussines owner must follow the regulation that are
implemented at their place of work.
5.Create a culture of safety. workers should always value their safety.Respect must also
be empasized.
a.Establish a resiprocal way of communication. concern workers must be responded
properly.
b.To ensure safety in the workplace, make sure that the management goes beyond
regulation.
c.Promote workers beyond the call of duty.
6.Provide tranings. Orient workers on the possible hazards they my be exposed to at
work and provide ways on how to avoid them.
a.Periodically orient workers on safety regulations and emergency procedures to follow.
b.Tranings on how to do their job safest way must be provided.
7.Continue to improve the system. Costantly review the program implemented and
continuesly develop the program to improve the system. in doing this the following must
be done.
a.Review the program.
b.Investigate accidents and close call as needed.
c.Carry out of frequent inspection of equipment and prosseces
d.Evaluate the statistic on accidents.
e.Document safety efforts.
f.Ensure that the hazards system are working and in place.
