Conservation agriculture with Faidherbia trees in Malawi has led to increased maize yields and resilience to drought. Farmers practicing conservation agriculture with minimum soil disturbance, crop residue retention, and crop rotations experienced a 38% increase in maize yields compared to those using ridge tillage. Conservation agriculture also improved food security by protecting crops from dry spells and reduced labor needs. However, adopting conservation agriculture faces challenges such as resistance to change from traditional practices and lack of knowledge about applying the principles with other crops. Participatory extension approaches and evidence of conservation agriculture's benefits are needed to encourage more widespread adoption.
