Title analysis - the fault in our stars
1.
2. Appears at 00:27 seconds and is on screen for 2 seconds Appears at 00:31 seconds and is on screen for 2 seconds
The screenshots above are the titles that first appear in the opening. This gives
information to the audience of who presents the film and who produced the film.
These titles look like they have just been drawn with crayon, which appeals to the
child-like audience. While these are on screen non-diegetic up to beat, high pitch
music is being played, this makes the audience relaxed and ready to see what is to
come in the next scenes. As you can see they are positioned in the bottom corners,
this allows the audience to still see what is in the background and also shows they
are not that important to the film as they are printed small. The companies have
been printed out in white capitals and what they do has been printed out in blue
lower case, enhancing their names.
3. Appears at 01:07 seconds and lasts for 4 seconds
This is the title of the film. It is still in the same crayon looking font as the previous
titles. As you can see it takes up the whole screen which shows the audience the
importance of it and it contrasts with the previous titles as they were small and
placed in the corner. Also how the colours have been used contrasts with the
previous titles because “fault” and “stars” have been printed out in blue and they
are the most important words in the title, whereas the previous titles the most
important words were printed out in white. This is on screen for longer than the
titles previously which shows the importance also.
