INTRODUCTION
FINDING TIME FOR TIME MANAGEMENT
• You will never find time for
anything. If you want time you
just make it
TIME MANAGEMENT
Time management is a range of tools
and techniques required to manage
time when accomplishing tasks, goals,
projects complying with a due date
Time management doesn’t “JUST
HAPPEN” for anyone, it is a skill that
must be worked on , and most of the
students find it as a difficult challenge.
TIME MANAGEMENT SKILLS
• MAKE LISTS
• PRIORITIZE TASKS
• DIVIDE LARGE TASKS
INTO SMALLER STEPS
• GROUP SIMILAR TASKS
• MONITOR PROGRESS
“One always has enough time , if one will apply it well”
NEED FOR TIME MANAGEMENT
WE CAN’T BUY IT.
Time is distributed
equally to all,
each of us gets 24 hours
a day.
WE CAN’T STOP IT.
Time marches on, we can’t
hold
time up to take a bit longer
WE CAN’T SAVE IT.
Time can’t be saved to be
used up at another time
It’s not just time that’s Important
it’s what we do with our time
GOALS FOR TIME MANAGEMENT
• To be able to have control over your
life- manage your time, don’t let it
manage you!
• To be healthier & happier (less
stress)
• “Time is the scarcest resource, and
unless it is managed nothing else can
be managed.”
GOOD TIME MANAGERS
• Organised
 Use calenders, to-do lists, etc.
 Have short & long term goals in mind
 Follow schedule that can adapt to changes
• Plan ahead
• Plan unexpected
• Prioritize tasks
• Multi-tasking
• Avoid overload
 Take short breaks
 Don’t put everything off until last minute
• Have a vision
Benefits of Time management
 Less Stress: Managing your time can directly
reduce your stress level. Less rushing from task-
to-task and place-to-place.
 Get more done: Being productive is one of the
main goals of time management. When you are
aware of what you need to do, you are able to
better manage your workload. You will be able
to get more (of the right tasks) done in less time.
 Less Rework – Being organized results in less rework and mistakes.
Forgotten items, details, and instructions lead to extra work.
 More Free Time – We can’t create more time, but you can make
better use of it by managing your time. Even simple action getting
your work done early can produce more leisure time in your life.
 More Opportunities – Being on top of your time and work produces
more opportunities. The early bird always has more options.
“Its not about “having” time . Its about “making” time.”
 Less Effort – Proper time management makes
your life easier. Things take less effort.
 More Time Where it Matters – Managing your
time is allotting your time where it has the most
impact. Time management allows you to spend
your time on the things that matter most to you.
3 KEY STEPS OF GOODMANANEMENT
SET GOALS
MAKE A SCHEDULE
REVISIT AND REVISE
PLANS
SET GOALS
Time-based
S-Specific
M-Measurable
A-Achievable
R-Realistic
T-Time-based
REVISIT AND REVISE PLAN
• NOW THAT WE HAVE BEEN PLAYING ATTENTION
TO OUR SCHEDULE HOW ARE WE ACTUALLY
USING OUR TIME ?
• WHICH TAKES WERE WE ABLE TO DO ? WHAT
DIDN’T GET DONE ?
• WHAT CHANGE NEED TO BE MADE TO OUR
WEEKLY SCHEDULE?
• WHAT ARE PERSISTENT TIME WASTERS ?
Internal Time Wasters
Be aware of ways in which you waste your own time
• Procrastination
• Lack of planning
• Lack of priorities
• Lack of clarity
• Not being able to say “no”
Procrastination
“Never to do today what you can putt off “till
tomorrow”!
Forms of procrastination:
 Ignoring the task , hoping it will go away
 Underestimating how long it will take
 Telling yourself that poor performance is okay
 Doing something else that isn’t very
important
 Become paralyzed when having to make
choices
How to overcome procrastination?
 Win the mental battle by committing to
being on time
 Set and keep deadlines
 Organize , schedule & plan
 Divide job into smaller ones
 Make it fun
 Reward yourself when you are done
 Learn to say “no” to time wasters
Clarity , Priorities & Planning
 Why I am doing this?
 What is the goal?
 Why will I succeed?
 What happens if I choose
not to do it?
Learn to say “no”
You can’t do everything
Don’t undertake things
you can’t complete
Remain consistent to
your goals
