Windows Active Directory is a central hub where a system administrator can change anything about
a users role in the organization and access on the network in a very short time unlike Linux. Because
SELinux is host based that means each change to a user or group means going in and configuring
them one at a time by hand while Active Directory GUI is much simpler to use when configuring.

wired LAN is your most logical step. Based upon previous installations in the building we are given
a few options to consider including cable, DSL and fiber. Fiber is going to give you the fastest
speeds while something like DSL is going to save you the most money. If money is not a concern
and based on that fiber is already installed a lot of the upfront cost of the installation is already
covered, fiber would be the most recommended route especially if you plan to expand your business

Firewall: We thought the ISP's router included a firewall, but it doesn't; so, we don't have one.
Updates: All the Windows XP Professional systems are up–to–date because they were automatically
checking and downloading updates. However, several installations of Microsoft Office need
updating, and the Windows 98 computers are not updated at all.

It is very common that businesses use older versions of Microsoft Word, as it is reliable and not
costly at all, especially in smaller businesses such as dentists, etc. However, using old operating
systems might require the employers to give new employees training as most employees might not

predecessors cheaper, smaller firms cannot afford to upgrade to windows 7 to XP due to it being
costly and the entire system would be down for a while, it'll be difficult to manage information.
However a larger company will be able to afford it, businesses likes to use Windows OS due to the
fact being that it has better support than other OS, and it offers better hardware support e.g. printers,
scanners, etc.
Small businesses does not need a server for their business as they do not have a need of one, hence
they only requires in their workstations, which is commonly Windows OS, Windows 7 is the most
reliable out of windows 7/8.1/10, it is also an OS that has a user–friendly making the interface easy
to use. However larger businesses will require more work stations, larger businesses will also
require a server, or a computer that's more powerful than the work stations in order to store
resources and manage accounts, etc. The server will run a different operating system than the work

The Microsoft and Linux operating systems have been long considered to be in a competition to be
the best operating systems on the market. This paper will compare and contrast these operating

Finally, marketing is a big "reason" why Microsoft still holds a large place in the desktop market

The company would also have the ability to grant access to the Internet to users that need this
