Snake
• Denotationis what something is a
direct definition e.g. snake an animal
• Connotationis something what
represents e.g. a liar who is misleading
someone or something
Flag
• Denotation
A flag is what represents a country such as
the British flag
• Connotation
What the colours mean can symbolise what
the country may have gone through, done or
represent such as the red in the British flag
meaning sacrifice and blood e.g.
Gun
• Denotation
Guns are used for protection in most people
understanding; to use this as weapon to
inflicted pain towards others.
• Connotation
Guns are used for actions not threats. When
connotations are used with guns this can
symbolise danger, death, and violence
The connotation of the Lego Batman
film is that it feels inviting and
mysterious by having the main color as
yellow. Yellow can be related to a
semantic field of happiness, positivity,
clarity and energy what Lego Batman
has in the film by having a Lego floor
automatically reminds us of a world
reminding us that we are in a world of
a animated universe.
The background of the movie poster
shows us that the location could
possibly be most hosted in the city.
The common age group for this movie
genre would mostly be targeted at a
younger audience from 6-12 years of
age, its social classification would
stand mostly for second class. The
gender focused for this films would be
mostly be pursued by males of
younger age.
The color scheme of the movie poster feels inviting and blurry simultaneously. The actors
seem to look satisfied looking at their facial expressions, this could possibly mean or hint that
they could of accomplished a goal of some sort. Also the props such as the bags and Bmxs -can
symbolize that they were probably biking long distance trip giving them better, fast and cheap
transport in there local location to where they might want to go. The background has a
Californian vibe by a beach somewhere giving them this tropical warm city they possibly may
live in.
The colour scheme of PUBG
looks vintage, the contrast in all
the colours and the background
feels as if its an Action pack
game the bold bright colours of
the title makes the background
have some sort of meaning such
as the explosion and comparing
it to the texts colour.
The character in the game looks
to be equipped with a rifle and a
pistol. The location of the
character seems to be in a place
were its main focus is in an
industrial factory where its been
abandoned.
The character seems to be
hiding his identity to ensure he
wasn’t seen in the making of the
explosion.
PUBG
The target audience primarily for this game is for
teens from age 15- 20. The social classes for this
game is mostly expressed to classes of working
middle class and the psychographic is Emulator this is
because this class is more driven to achieve and to
survive the challenges of the game.
Soundtrack
• Clip 1
The mood of the picture feels
mysterious and climatic because
of the tense music being played,
which suggests the person on the
computer feels nervous or
anxious to what may be
happening.
• Clip 2
The mood of the soundtrack is a
complete juxtaposition to the first
clip, as it feels open happy and
atmospheric.
Shining
• This is a horror film but edited to make a
happy positive family film the warm
contrasting colours the song had in the
background made it hard to think about
the movie being a horror film by changing
the soundtrack and the editing of the video
or anything it can change
Scary Mary
• The genre of the film has been made to make
a tense climatic scary film by having quick
scenes of flashes to scare and to make a
horror film more realistic and dramatic. By
having sharp hard sound in the film it created
a sense of dramatic irony, where the
characters play a not so sensible role in being
rushed to the death. This created scary
thoughts and imagery in the viewers mind to
scare and confuse you as to what's going on.

• Women are not as strong as men
• Women are not politicians
• Women are quieter than men and not

Iconography- Western
Iconography is the aspects of
a product we expect to see
in that genre.
In a western film we would
expect people to be riding
horses, cowboy hats,
stealing carts and guns.
Iconography- Sci-Fi
• Sci-fi is where we expect to
be in the distant future
where there is more
technology that is advanced
and technologically based
around their life style.
Iconography- Fantasy
• Lastly in this fantasy we end
up seeing creativity and
collaboration in making
hybrid animals as a natural
nature of a animal.
• This unreal world of a fantasy
world will include a more
creative atmosphere and
characters.
Narrative
• Narrative Definition:
A product’s story line
• Linear Narrative Definition:
A storyline that is presented in order beginning middle and end.
• Linear Narrative Film Example:
GhostBusters
• Non-Linear Narrative Definition
– A storyline that jumps around the product’s timeline; out of
order/sequence, flashbacks, flashforwards
• Non-Linear Narrative Film Example:
• An Inspector Calls
• 1969The Milky Way Luis Buñuel
Clip Analysis
The costumes of the characters looked like old robes but it had a sci-fi fantasy touch to the
clothes. The colours of the clothes looked used and wrecked. Giving us knowledge and
curiosity to whether they might be in poverty or rebellious.
The lighting of the clip looked dark and mysterious and it didn’t feel inviting at all, the tone
through out the film looked to be unengaging but the characters had a goal of wanting to
obtain some small pyramid. The characters in the clip didn’t have many props but they were
trying to obtain something of their desire.
The camerawork had different views of how the play progressed; in the fist section of the
clip it started off with a face zoom then slowly zooming out to give us a insight to where
they might be in their location after they allowed us to have a feel for the atmosphere
around them. Then, they cut towards a cave symbolising they might be going to a place to
locate a refugee close by
The music was mellow but as the creatures (spiders) in their environment approached them
the music started to get tense giving a dramatic and emphasised climax to create tension
the the action.

  • 18. Clip Analysis The costumes of the characters looked like old robes but it had a sci-fi fantasy touch to the clothes. The colours of the clothes looked used and wrecked. Giving us knowledge and curiosity to whether they might be in poverty or rebellious. The lighting of the clip looked dark and mysterious and it didn’t feel inviting at all, the tone through out the film looked to be unengaging but the characters had a goal of wanting to obtain some small pyramid. The characters in the clip didn’t have many props but they were trying to obtain something of their desire. The camerawork had different views of how the play progressed; in the fist section of the clip it started off with a face zoom then slowly zooming out to give us a insight to where they might be in their location after they allowed us to have a feel for the atmosphere around them. Then, they cut towards a cave symbolising they might be going to a place to locate a refugee close by The music was mellow but as the creatures (spiders) in their environment approached them the music started to get tense giving a dramatic and emphasised climax to create tension the the action.
