5. The inbetweeners movie is about four lads from Based on the hit
British TV series of the same name, director Ben Palmer's The
Inbetweeners follows teenage losers Will, Jay, Simon, and Neil as
they head to Greece for a wild vacation. From this picture on the
front cover we can see that instantly it gives the impression of a
British comedy film . The outfits their wearing and the flashing
lights.
The connotations are of friendship and adventure, comedy is
also represented in the bright colours and the expressions on
their faces.
6. Grand Theft Auto V is an action-adventure video
game developed by Rockstar North and published by
Rockstar Games. It was released in September 2013
for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, in November 2014
for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and in April 2015 for
Microsoft Windows. It is the first main entry in the
Grand Theft Auto series since 2008's Grand Theft
Auto IV. The impression I get from this game is that
it’s a very multi genre game just from the pictures of
the cars guns motorbikes and scenery.
The connotations are violence, greed, power and
mystery through the colours and the props. The
location suggests glamourous and American suburbs
and a mix of status.
7. FIFA 19 Led by the UEFA Champions
League, FIFA 19 offers enhanced
gameplay features that allow you to
control the pitch in every moment, and
provides new and unrivalled ways to
play, including a dramatic finale to the
story of Alex Hunter in The Journey:
Champions, a new mode in the ever-
popular FIFA Ultimate Team™, and
more.
The connotations are positive due to the
colours being calming and innocent and
very clean. The player looks mid motion,
so it suggests energetic and fast paced
and exciting content.
The logos suggest branding and
connotes a wider audience recognition
to the platform.
8. Soundtrack
• Clip 1
• The first clip that I listened to made me
feel like something bad was about to
happen from the image due to intense
build up.
• Clip 2
• In the second clip I feel like It made the
image bring a happy mood as it was soft
and playful, that maybe there is a
relationship between them more than
work colleagues.
9. Shining
• From the movie trailer I've watched it contained a lot of transitions and
voice overs. They picked out the comedy and positive scenes and put
these together with light hearted music and a narrative that suggests it is
a rom com rather than a horror film. It is much lighter than the original
which makes you think the genre is different.
10. Scary Mary
The way this film trailer was made scary was they used
scary music to add to the trailer and they also used scary
cut scenes and black outs. It is a lot darker and fast cutting
build up the pace. The scenes were taken to be edited
together that he is a threat.
11. Stereotypes
Men Women
• Men are harder working than
women .
• Men are stronger than women .
• Only men play video games
• Women are better at solving
problems.
• women are nurses not doctors
12. Stereotypes
Upper Class
• They are more important than lower
class people.
• They deserve to be where they
are.
Working Class
• They are not smart.
• They work harder than upper
class.
14. Iconography- Western
Cowboys , western deserts and films. And the
USA is associated with western .Western is a
genre of various arts which tell stories set
primarily in the later half of the 19th century in
the American Old West.
16. Iconography- Fantasy
• Good vs. Evil
• The hero is almost always a generation younger than the villain.
• Dragons, other planets and magic/religious entities
17. Narrative
• Narrative Definition
– A product’s storyline
• Linear Narrative Definition
– A storyline that is presented in the order; beginning, middle and end.
• Linear Narrative Film Example
• An example would be harry potter.
• Non-Linear Narrative Definition
– A storyline that jumps around the product’s timeline; out of order/sequence,
flashbacks, flashforwards.
• Non-Linear Narrative Film Example
• A good example is in William Faulkner's story "A Rose for Emily,"
18. Clip Analysis
• The lightsabre is red for the villain which connotes
danger and blood and the protagonist is holding a blue
saber and this connotes clarity and calmness.
• The clothing is black versus white so this is a clear
divide between good and bad
• The location is dark but the shots of the good guy are
lighter
• The music builds tension and the entrance of the bad
guy has music associated to the character which is
forceful and menacing.
• When the good guy is winning the battle, the music is
lighter and more optimistic.
