4. Gun
• Denotation
– Easy to grip, slightly

– Can be deadly, used to
shoot/kill people

5. Colours: White, dark blue, brown,
(Neon). Night time colours,
comforting colours, beautiful
colours. They use these colours
because they reflect the mood/tone
of the film. The human hand
touching the alien hand could
represent the curiosity of the boy
and the friendship between him and
ET.

supernatural to the audience

film having a western style feel. Suggests
personal story and western and beautiful
looking film to the audience.
Framing: Main character walking in front of
the sunset showing there is still positivity

7. Colours: Black, white, dark blue.
They represent the movie taking
place mostly at night. Yellow for the
and white for the text. Big bright
blue light at then end of the road can
suggest sci-fi mystery.
Location: Empty road, middle of
nowhere, no-one else around and
with sci-fi feel can give a spooky
atmosphere. The audience might
relate this to sci-fi because of the
colours and also the unknown. The
light at the end also forms the shape
of a ufo which is significant into
making the audience think about the
film.

8. Soundtrack
• Clip 1 The music is dark and
suspenseful. It gives the image a
mysterious, dark intensity. It makes
you feel the two characters have
just discovered something scary on
the computer.
• Clip 2 The music gives a happy,
romantic feel to the images as if
they’re gazing into each others
eyes.

9. Shining
• The maker of the video used light hearted and
unimportant moments in the film and added
happy music and happy sounding narration to
give it a romantic comedy feel. Whilst
changing the story to make it about little
Danny trying to find a proper father.(Jack).
They have also given the trailer interesting
comedic editing.

10. Scary Mary
• The maker of the video has used fast editing
with loud sound effects whilst using most of
the footage where Mary Poppins is not smiling
and scenes where confusing things are
happening to give it a scary horror movie feel.
As well as using creepy music for the entire
thing.

18. Clip Analysis
The scene is very dark and one of the
only sources of light is coming from
the blue and red lightsabers(Fantasy
weapons). (Blue interprets good and
red interprets evil).
There is not a lot of dialogue said in the scene,
because most of the scene is just fighting so
little dialogue is needed.
The props are
fantasy (not real).
But they are used
like real swords.
Darth Vader is wearing a
simple black costume
(black showing that he is
part of the dark side
showing that he is the
villain). Whilst the heroes
are wearing bright
colourful clothes showing
that they are part of the
bright side.
The scene does have some of
the iconographies I would
expect from a sci-fi adventure,
such as colourful costumes,
lasers, spaceship, etc.
