• Information: I use Facebook trending to find out
the newest updates and information.
• Personal Identity: It is researching something and
finding out more about a particular subject.
• Integration and Social Interaction: Tagging people
in and sharing pictures and videos with friends.

Listening to or watching the video that the user has
been tagged in or shared.

7. Consumer Generated Content
• Example
– Gaming: Users are given a custom map maker to
create their own experience and share it with
other players.
• What are the advantages to media producers?
– The media gets free promotion and the
community gets even more free and fresh
content.
• Why would the audience generate content?
– To feel like part of the show and as though they
have made a contribution to the whole thing.
