The United States Is Facing A State Of Stagnation
Staples is a large enough company that despite negative economic conditions staples can still thrive. The United States is facing a state of stagnation.
Despite heading towards a state of stagnation staples can aggressively pursue new markets and new areas to grow. Normally the economy goes
through ups and downs in periods of six to twelve years. According to the capitalist theories a trade/monetary based society will always be heading in
an upwards direction with normal economic fluctuation. In a state of stagnation, an economy doesn't grow and instead stays about the same or slowly
declines over a long period of time. In a stagnant economy normal fluctuations do occur but there is no real growth happening. This stagnant economy
comes from many different factors. Though our population is still growing our educated working class is shrinking in the work force with the baby
booming generation starting retirement. Our population is still increasing due to immigration, not reproduction inside the country. (1), (2) The amount
of debt currently owed to other countries is another reason for our pending stagnation. Currently our countries debt is at almost eighteen trillion
dollars, about fifty six thousand dollars per citizen or about one hundred fifty six thousand dollars of debt per tax payer (3). Right now one of the few
strategies the United States has is to combat their debt is to print money and increase inflation faster than the debt grows. By doing this

Real Business Cycles Hypothesis Sees Cycles
Introduction
Real Business Cycles hypothesis sees cycles as starting in frictionless splendidly focused economies with for the most part finish markets subject to
genuine stuns (irregular changes in innovation or efficiency), it makes the contention that cycles are predictable with aggressive general harmony
situations in which all operators are levelheaded maximizers (The Economist). In opposition to what Keynesian, Monetarist, and new traditional
business analysts trusted, RBC scholars, beginning with Nelson and Plosser in 1982, found that the theory that GDP development takes after an
arbitrary walk can 't be rejected. They contended that a large portion of the adjustments in GDP were perpetual, and that yield development would not ...

RBC models were for the most part fruitful in representing diligence and co–movement, yet less effective in offering persuading clarifications for
changes in occupation (Real Business Cycle Theory).
The Baxter and King paper, "Fiscal Policy in General Equilibrium" concentrates on four exemplary financial approach tests inside a quantitatively
confined neoclassical model. The creators ' primary discoveries are as per the following: lasting changes in government buys can prompt short–run and
long–run yield multipliers that surpass one; perpetual changes in government buys instigate bigger impacts than transitory changes; the financing
choice is quantitatively more critical than the asset expense of changes in government buys; and open venture affects private yield and speculation.
These discoveries stem from critical element collaborations of capital and work truant in prior harmony investigations of monetary arrangement
(Baxter King 1993).
In the event that business cycles are brought about for the most part by changes in efficiency, instead of by money related and budgetary unsettling
influences, what part do financial and monetary arrangements play? In Satyajit Chatterjee 's article he examines the likelihood that countercyclical

Lactate is then converted back into glucose by the liver. The liver is using an aerobic reaction to produce ATP. It takes 6 ATP from the liver during
the cori cycle to produce 2 ATP for the muscle cells. Cells would not be able to survive long in a single muscle cell because it does not have the liver to
produce more ATP and to convert lactate back into glucose (Hudon

cause a decrease in the production of ATP. The decrease in ATP is seen the substrate level phosphorylation of converting succinyl CoA succinate
This would cause the cycle to become acidic due to the buildup of lactic acid. If the cycle continued it would not be functional due to the acid. There
would also be a decreased production of ATP in the mitochondria. NADH and Carbon Dioxide would also be decreased. ATP would be decreased
because of the deficiency of succinyl CoA synthase. The conversion of succinyl CoA to succinate, which is catalyze and act on by succinyl CoA

In 1960, an invention revolutionized female sexuality and paved the way for the women's liberation movement. It was the birth–control pill, or simply
"the pill" as it became popularly known. For four decades, the pill has put women primarily in the contraceptive driver's seat. But an increasing number
of people – both men and women – want men to take a more active role in contraception use. Their wish may be granted in the foreseeable future, as
research companies grow closer to revealing the first continuous, reversible male contraceptive pill. Researchers at Edinburgh University's Centre for
Reproductive Biology have finally found a way to suppress daily sperm production while maintaining normal testosterone levels. This was not an easy
task given that men emit millions of sperm in each, while women only produce one egg per month. The pill has proven to be 100% effective in
preliminary clinical trials and is completely reversible. The pill contains desogestrel, a synthetic hormone that is the main component in the female pill,
as well as the male hormone testosterone. This combination blocks the production of

Cyclical History: One Of The Five Philosophies Of History
If you look closely at history of the world, a person could believe that civilization moves in a cyclical form. Cyclical history is one of the five
philosophies of history. Everything is born raises to maturity followed by a decline and then ends in death and then reborn again, a circular form. This
circular theory is seen in: seasons, life, machinery, civilizations and in culture. Yet, acycle doesn't have to last for a day, a year, it could be 20 years or
even 12,000 years. In some incidents, it is not known whether the cycle is at the end or at the beginning. Many cultures rely on cyclical history to
show where we are in the cycle. Many cultures use cyclical history to describe the past. In China, history is based on dynasties. ... Show more content

One of the philosophies is called linear history. This is a theory that life starts as creation and proceeds down a line to judgement day. This is
especially noticeable in Judo–Christian religion. Each event or moment even though similar is different in some way. The events will never end the
same. The third philosophy is progress of history, this theory is where human condition has improved so much and will continue to improve with the
aid of technology and medicine. To give this theory some validation, people are taller, stronger, and we do live longer than before. The four
philosophy is historicism, which by Gianmbattista Viso, means history was determined by laws and the belief that understanding people and cultures
requires an understanding events. An example of this would be: what happen 200 years ago formed with the developing of the United States is why
we are here today. The last philosophy is Marxism which implies that everyone labors for his basic needs which in other words–historical materialism.
This theory is based on the changes in economic and pollical programs. Historical materialism presumes that the social structure and the economy are
chiefly influenced by changes in material conditions (such as technology, forces of production, necessities of life). Everyone has their opinion on how
history was created, yet I didn't give you my opinion

It is also referred to as the water cycle. The Grand Canyon contains water resources called a spring. The canyon contains numerous amounts of
springs. They are also part of the hydrologic cycle. A spring is a water resource formed when the side of a hill, a valley bottom or other excavation
intersects a flowing body of ground water at or below the local water table, below which the subsurface material is saturated with water. (Perlman,
2011) They can live inside any type of rock. The springs held within the Grand Canyon dischargesgroundwater, and this groundwater supplies drinking
water to the Canyon's visitors, Flagstaff, the Coconino Plateau, etc. The Grand Canyon will continue to change over time. However, it is uncertain
as to what continued acts of weathering and mass wasting will do to it. Since the canyon was developed by erosion, mass wasting and weathering,
the constant shaping of the Grand Canyon will continue. On the other hand, Geologists believe that the Grand Canyon will be affected by the
Colorado River weathering away at the rock. Over millions of years, weathering, mass wasting and erosion have been said to form the Grand
Canyon. With that said, the Canyon will grow larger, and the mile deep canyon will greatly increase. Rocks, big and small, will continue to fall down
the Colorado River cutting through more rock layers. It is also predicted that the Grand Canyon will have a shortage of water supply due to the
growing population.

The Symbolism of the Menstrual Cycle in ZZ Packer's
"Every Tongue Shall Confess"
The menstrual cycle has long been considered a symbol of many different things in cultures around the world: in many African cultures, for example,
it is recognized as the link to the passing on of life and as such is celebrated by many African women, and in many Judeo–Christian cultures it
symbolizes uncleanliness to an unmentionable degree. In ZZ Packer's "Every Tongue Shall Confess," the protagonist, Clareese, is on her menstrual

The meanings of the terms "lovesickness" and "erotic melancholy" in the article stem from this definition of love, both of which define a physical
desire. During this time period, as stated above, women were viewed as celestial rather than mortal and were therefore presumed not to be plagued by
bodily functions. In Jonathan Swift's "The Lady's Dressing Room," Strephon, the paramour of a woman named Celia, sneaks into her chambers only to
find that they are not the pristine haven he expected. Instead, he finds the squalid mess brought about by the upkeep of her glamorous appearance,
which likely included her menstrual cloths. His experience is concluded with these lines:
Thus finishing his grand Survey,
Disgusted Strephon stole away
Repeating in his amorous Fits,
Oh! Celia, Celia, Celia shits! (115–118)
The poem goes on to explainпїЅ that Strephon's perception of Celia is forever altered and that he can no longer look at a woman without thinking of
"all her Stinks" (122). After the Deacon's sexual assault and subsequent discovery of Clareese's menstrual cycle, "he drew back in disgust–no,

What I Learned At Ais 2016. Before Starting The Accounting...
What I Learned in AIS 2016 Before starting the Accounting Information Systems class, I had little idea of what accounting information was. After
having Professor Carothers for previous accounting classes, I knew it would be a tough class but the knowledge I would gain would be well worth it
and everlasting. Throughout this semester, I have learned a great deal of information, because of this it is hard to talk about everything. I decided
instead of talking about everything I learned I would choose the topics I believe will be beneficial for later use, whether in school or at a job. The
important topics I chose are; creativity, interviewing, cycles, frauds and errors, controls, and flowcharts. The proof of what I learned in this paper
is the information stated in the following paragraphs in this paper. Some of the information stated in this paper was obtained from the sources
posted on D2L for the AIS class of fall 2016 which is documented in my sources on the last page. The first and most emphasized topics in the class
was creativity. I learned that creativity does not stop once you hit a certain age and is also not just for artists. Creativity is present in all jobs and
varies from job to job. In this class I learned that creativity consists of five parts. First, is to evaluate the problem. Second, is to identify current
knowledge. Third, is brainstorm how the current knowledge does or does not fit the problem. Fourth, develop solutions using the knowledge that fits

Community Assessment : York County, Pennsylvania
Community Assessment – York County, Pennsylvania
A major influence on health in a community is the availability of services and opportunities within the neighborhood. Public health can be further
influenced by the social environments. Accessibility to health care along with education and employment opportunities are fundamental factors to be
considered (Riegelman & Kirkwood, 2015). These elements create both advantages and disadvantages for those living within the neighborhood. If we
want to improve public health outcomes, we must consider and evaluate these along with many other contributing factors.
Setting Description York County, Pennsylvania is an urban community which, according to the US Census, covers 904.18 square miles with an
average of 481.1 persons per square mile (State and County QuickFacts). The county is made up of approximately 73 cities, townships, and boroughs
ranging in size. York City is the largest population of 43935 while Yorkana borough is smallest with a population of only 229. There are two hospitals
as well as several urgent care and outpatients healthcare facilities.
Demographics
The US Census estimates York County population at 440,755 (State and County QuickFacts). The bulk of the population, 56 percent, falls within the
age range of 18–64. This closely corresponds with the state of Pennsylvania as well as the US statistics for the age of population. Additionally, only
15.9 percent of the county is over the age of 65. Furthermore,

The Global Financial Crisis And The Macro Economy
Introduction
The global financial crisis has attracted considerable attention in recent literature. It is well known that the true origins of this financial crisis is that the
over–borrowing of US households, especially to finance housing. It had serious affected the financial sector and the macro–economy. According to
Shiller (2007), the main reason of the sub–prime mortgage crisis and the worldwide economic and financial crisis of 2007–2009 is the housing bubble.
He also believes that the preceding bubble created dynamics and the dynamics of the crisis were self–perpetuating, although in the opposite direction.
From the literature, we can see that conventional housing economics research virtually ignores interactions with the ... Show more content on

1.Housing wealth
The housing wealth refers to the market value of all residential capital stock, no matter rented or owned. It is also an important component of national
wealth. In most developed economies, housing wealth takes up almost half of household wealth. The figure below shows this phenomenal in the
United States. The data selected from 1952 to 2008.

2.Housing wealth & GDP
Compare housing wealth and GDP, we can see that housing wealth is larger than GDP. Housing wealth also fluctuates over time. Figure 2 illustrates
the ratio of nominal housing wealth to nominal GDP in the US. From the figure, we can find that the ratio of housing wealth to GDP has averaged
around 1.5 between 1952 and 2008. However, it has moved dramatically throughout this period. At the beginning of these periods, it was equal to
1.28; we can see the lowest value happen in 1962 and in 2005 it reaches the highest value of 2.26. It is at the peak of the recent housing boom. Figure

Analyzing Cyclical Steam Injections Of A Heavy Oil Reservoir
For our senior project, we analyzed cyclical steam injections in a heavy oil reservoir using reservoir simulations. We began the project as though we
had been contracted to analyze a cyclical steam injection project in a pay–zone similar to the Clearwater formation in Cold Lake, Alberta. In this heavy,
dead oil reservoir the facilities, injectors, and producer are already set up in the field with a seven spot orientation. The company wants further analysis
on the project once the market declined, requesting reservoir simulations be conducted over a six year period before proceeding. Through the program
CMG STARS, we were able to simulate production in a field with similar characteristics, employing field data from technical papers referenced in this
paper. The complex equations simultaneously solved in CMG STARS including multiphase fluid flow and conservation equations make the program an
invaluable reservoir evaluation tool. Sensitivity analysis was conducted to monitor the production responses to changes in steam injection parameters,
compiling over 40 simulations. The injection was optimized with a total of 35 simulations after identifying the most significant parameters impacting
production. Net present values and cumulative production of oil and water were analyzed to construct a recommendation for the project. In this paper,
we will discuss the model construction, sensitivity analysis, optimization, and economic analysis in greater detail. Although the constraints of

The Boom And Bust Of The Housing Market Bubble
As a member of the Millennial's and as a student of economics, The Great Recession, the greatest economic downturn we've seen in 70 years is truly
an intriguing topic. It is the first economic crisis that many of my generation can truly say we lived through. With the burst of the housing bubble and
the failure of various financial institutions, the United States was dragged kicking and screaming from the prosperous age of nearly uninterrupted
economic growth since the early eighties, into an unemployment rate of over 9% and a decline in Real GDP in the first time in decades. Years after

This led to the recession of 81–82 but managed to get inflation under 5% from the high double digits it was under Nixon at the cost of a rather high
unemployment rate of 10%. Many argue that this and other policies under the Reagan administration known as Reagonomics, were what led to the
economic prosperity that we enjoyed in the 90's and 2000's. Rather than discuss what caused the economic growth of the era, we examine a few of the
effects it had on markets, especially housing.
The family home has always been a major part of the American dream, but it had an even bigger role in the Great Recession. Under legislative
pressure banks eased up on a lot of the loans that they gave out. According to Peicuti (2014), "In the 2000s, the deregulation of the financial system and
development of the originate–to–distribute banking model led commercial banks to finance subprime mortgages" (p.7). It then goes on to lists several
characteristics that these borrowers may have including, "relatively high default probability as evidenced by, for example, a credit bureau risk...
bankruptcy in the last five years... debt–service–to–income ratio of 50 percent or greater" (p.7). All of this tells us the same story, these were risky
loans to make. We've learned from class that the interest rate is an indicator of the amount of risk on an asset. These loans however were not properly
assessed for the amount of risk on them. In short, the banks had taken on more risk than they

The Process Of Meiosis And Mitosis
In order to better understand the process of meiosis and mitosis, students observed different types of asci. The arrangement of spores was associated to
whether crossing over occurred during meiosis 1. We tried observing asci, from the mating plate that we did last lab, with a light microscope. However,
the class was unsuccessful and were told to look for images of asci on google images and use these observations as our data. The observations obtained
from google images, showed that 27 observations were made for asci of type 4:4, 19 for asci type 2:2:2:2 and 14 for asci of type 2:4:2 (Table IB–1).
With these observations, we determined the map distance which was 27.5 map units (Figure 5.4). Since asci of type 4:4 were observed more, crossing
over occurred less, thus producing less asci with different arrangements. Sordaria also undergo mitosis because the end result of meiosis are four
haploid cells and haploid cells cannot divide by meiosis. Lastly, since more asci with type 4:4 were observed, the hypothesis was supported–more
black ascus were also observed which supported the second hypothesis. Although students were not successful in observing asci during the lab, students
were still able to understand the importance of meiosis and relate it to real life issues. INTRODUCTION

Metabolism is the process of cellular respiration. It involves three steps, 1) glycolysis, 2) the citric acid or Krebs cycle and 3) electron transport

Succinyl Coenzyme A Synthase is an enzyme that is responsible for the conversion of succinyl coenzyme A to succinate. This enzyme catalyzes the
reaction and is responsible for creating ATP or GTP. The reaction takes place in the seven step of the Citric Acid Cycle. The tissues under which this
enzyme is utilized appears to determine whether GTP or ATP are produced. Under conditions of anabolicmetabolism, in the liver and kidneys, GTP
appears to be the product. While under catabolic reactions, ATP is produced. A deficiency in Succinyl
Coenzyme A Synthase causes the disease Fatal Infantile Lactic Acidosis in newborns and is fatal within 2–4 days. This disease creates a buildup of
lactic acid in the system as it creates a break in the Citric Acid Cycle. There is a net loss of ATP creating toxic levels and acidosis (Wikipedia,

After reaching maturation, the follicle undergoes ovulation; an event stimulated by a surge in luteinising hormone release from the anterior pituitary
gland (orange line). The remnant follicle (now termed the corpus luteum) secretes progesterone (red line), which maintains the endometrial lining and
causes it to enter the luteal phase. With triphasic COC's, three incremental doses (phases 1–3) of progestogen (blue line) with (pink line)/without

crudely mimicking endogenous increases in oestrogen and progesterone. As such, it was hypothesised that the triphasic regimen would afford
various benefits over monophasic COC's. Contraceptive efficacy: The remarkable contraceptive efficacy of COC's has been known for many years. Of

increase due to both a recession and the rising costs of medical equipment (Turk). Because of both of these factors, medical facilities have been forced
to cut back and find new ways to save money. Through this industry, hospitals have begun to rent their medical equipment rather that to buy it, saving
the facilities money while not hurting patient care. According to IBIS World, the medical equipment rental industry makes around a 1.3 billion dollar
profit each year as well as employing around twenty thousand employees (Turk). Furthermore, the market is growing at 4.7 percent annually and is
expected to grow even faster in future years (Turk). While the medical equipment rental industry seems like it is targeted to one group of consumers the
market actually segmented into many different groups. The market is initially segmented based on the type of device (Research). For instance, medical
equipment industries would market surgical equipment differently than home care medical equipment or digital equipment. In addition to segmenting
the market based on the type of equipment, the market is also segmented by the end user (Research). When referring to end user the company will
segment their market based on who is going to use it. For example, the companies would market products that someone would use for in–home care

Uterus and Hysterectomy
Causes of Hysterectomy
Introduction
Having a hysterectomy can be one of the most difficult decisions a woman ever has to make. It can threaten your identity, sexuality, and fertility, and
lead to lingering feelings of grief, depression, and loss. But sometimes a hysterectomy is necessary in order to increase quality of life, reduce painful
symptoms, or even save lives. If you are thinking about having a hysterectomy, it is important to weigh your decision carefully. This report is designed
to give the reader some important background information on hysterectomy procedures and on how a hysterectomy might affect you or someone you
love.
But first, what is a hysterectomy? The Webster's New World Medical Dictionary defines... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In endometriosis, this endometrial tissue begins to grow in places outside the uterus. Typical sites include the fallopian tubes, intestines, vagina, and on
scars that my form after abdominal surgery. The misplaced endometrial tissue thickens, engorges with blood and bleeds during the menstrual cycle, just
like the normal tissue in the uterus. However, there is no place for the abnormally placed endometrial tissue outside the uterus to shed blood. This
results in the formation of cysts, scars, and adhesions. This process can also block or affect the fallopian tubes so that conception and pregnancy are less
likely to happen. It can also result in complete infertility. Other symptoms of endometriosis are often associated with heavy or painful periods. Risk
factors for the development of endometriosis include having a mother or sister with the disorder, never having children, starting the menstrual period
at an early age, and frequent or long periods. According to Dr. Camron Nezhat, Laparoscopic Surgeon at Stanford University, 5.5% of women in the
U.S are infected with Endometriosis and 30% to 40% are infertile as a result of it.

The Never-Ending Financial Crisis of 2008
Since it began in 2008, the US has faced what is being called the "great recession." It is 2013, and it is clear apparent that it is a "recession" longing
to be cured. Through the works of Putnam, Sum et. al., Wisman, and Colander, we can better understand this crisis and look for the best way to get out
of it.
To begin, Robert Putnam describes what has occurred in the U.S. over the past several decades. He states that over the past several decades the U.S.
has been subject to "[an] economic and cultural [entanglement] a mixture of government, private sector, community and personal failings" (Putnam
2013, III).
Putnam believes that this financial crisis occurred as a result of layoffs, and many closings of businesses (Putnam 2013, 2).
We can further this understanding by turning to Sum, et. al., who believed that the crisis occurred due to the blue–collar workers who have lost their
jobs, and might never see those jobs again (Sum, et. al. 2010, 6).
Our next economist to turn to is John D. Wisman. In his article he describes what he believes to be the cause of the crisis. He states that this recession
occurred centered upon inadequate regulation stemming from laissez–faire ideology, and low interest rates (Wisman 2013, 921). He further points out
that an underlying effect of wage stagnation and dramatically increasing inequality in the US over the past 35 years may also be a cause.
Now to the guy who wrote our current textbook, Macroeconomics 9th Edition, who

Unequal Democracy By Larry Bartle
In "Unequal Democracy" written by Larry Bartle focuses on how politics have influenced the growing gap between the rich and poor in America.
Bartle argues that the gap has resulted from policy choices dominated by partisan ideologies and interest of the wealthy, specifically under the
Republican Party, while Democrats have managed to slightly decrease the gap. Bartle sheds light on how poor voters have a disadvantage in which
wealthier voters are more affluent to political leaders. In addition, Bartle examines whether voting patterns of voters have contributed to the growing
economic inequality, and he concludes voters do not weigh more into social and cultural issues; rather Republic presidents are good at timing income
growth to garner voters. The political environment has essentially influenced economy, in result has led to a growing economic gap between the rich
and poor, which is a national and state issue that must be addressed. Education is essential to attain social mobility, however students face difficult
obstacles. Even though we have laws like No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB), however many students that come from low social class families do not
have equal opportunities as students that come from higher income households. NCLB is encouraging on its face, but it does not address the unequal
distribution of funds for districts. NCLB set standards in which students must achieve scores on standardized test rather than having access to equal
opportunities, in

Determinants Of The Crisis Of Colander 's A Manifesto For...
Though there are numerous determinants that resulted in the Financial Crisis of 2008, wage stagnation for the majority of Americans and increasing
income inequality are among the most influential. The housing bubble that was fueled by subprime lending and indebtedness was a subsequent result
of these two determinants. This essay will analyze the two factors (income inequality and wage stagnation) that contributed to the onset of the crisis,
factors that are prolonging the crisis––expressed from the position of Colander's "A Structural Stagnation Policy Dilemma" and "A Manifesto for
Economic Sense"––as well as provide a link between inequality and unemployment. Ultimately, this analysis will evaluate several hypotheses to further

Moreover, as the top percentage of Americans accumulated more wealth, the remaining percentage (primarily the middle–class) wages stagnated. This
furthered the income inequality between the wealthy elite––those who had the financial means to significantly influence politics––and the middle and
lower classes––those who struggled to maintain the basic welfare of their families and their social standing. As the gap increased and financial policies
began to benefit primarily the top percent of wealthy Americans, the remaining percentages were forced to spend more for critical services like
education and health care even though their wages were stagnated. This resulted in households spending larger portions of their incomes and saving
less for the long run. Debt accumulation for middle–class and lower–class households rose significantly in the decades prior to the crisis. (Within the
financial sector, debt rose from "22 percent of GDP in 1981 to 117 percent in 2008). As households spent more and saved less, they began relying
heavily on loans and speculation to sustain their spending. The housing market in the late 1990s and early 2000s became the primary focus of
spending––with banks giving out loans for houses far beyond the financial means of the one's acquiring them. As J. D. Wisman asserted in Wage
Stagnation, Rising Inequality, and the Financial Crisis, "the housing market was greatly stimulated by very low interest rates

Designer Babies and Fertilization Problems
Endometriosis– This condition is only present in women. It occurs when endometrial tissue (the lining of the uterine which sheds each period), grows
on the outside of the uterus and is attached to reproductive or abdominal organs. This compromises normal functioning of the fallopian tubes through
blockage. Endometrial cells also occasionally secrete substances that may interfere with sperm and egg interaction therefore preventing fertilization.
Polycystic Ovary Symptom (PCOS) – This condition is mainly caused by hormonal imbalance in which women make more androgens than required.
Androgens are a male hormone, produced by females as well. High levels of this hormone can negatively affect the development and release of eggs
during ovulation. A possible theory to the cause of PCOS is a large amount of insulin in the body. Many women with PCOS have an excess of insulin
in their bodies which then goes towards production of androgen. Sperm production problems– This is the most common cause of infertility in men. It
occurs when low numbers of sperm are made andor the sperm don't work properly. This could be for a number of reasons such as; infections,
varicocele and genetic issues. Infections may swell and or scar and block the passage for sperm. A varicocele is the swelling of veins that empty the
testicle. This prevents normal cooling of the testicle and leads to reduced sperm count. Gamete intra–fallopian transfer This procedure consists of

My Autobiography: Socialization And The Cycle Of Depression
In my autobiography, I went into detail about being biracial, open–minded, and depressed. I did mention other traits, for instance being Buddhist,
low–middle class, and being nineteen years of age. I just focused more on the first three because I think they all went hand in hand. Being biracial
means I am combination of two different races. I used to hate being mixed and sometimes I still do, but having this physical trait has helped me be
more compassionate towards others who are different. I always feel out of place when I'm with certain groups of people. Sometimes they'll make sure
to mention that I'm different than the rest of them. I think being biracial has helped me become open–minded but is also a cause of my depression.
I have learned many things throughout this course. I knew about most of the topics discussed throughout the class, but I only knew about them to a
certain extent. Privilege and oppression were words I knew of but everyone who talked about it had different definitions of the terms. Now, I do know
that majority of those peoples definitions were wrong.

start to realize things going on around you. The first step of this cycle is becoming more aware of what's happening (Harro, 2013, pg.619). I think
these cycles are very important to understand. We would have a better society and community if we all could stop the Cycle of Socialization and get

Currently, the medical equipment rental industry's competition consists of companies that actually sell medical equipment to hospitals and other
places. While the medical rental market is growing fast, the industry has a low market share. Because of the low market share the industry has a hard
time keeping up with their competition. Additionally medical rental services appeal to mostly smaller hospitals with smaller budgets. While small
hospitals are a large part of the health care industry the larger hospital takes up a large part. Because larger hospitals have larger budgets, it 's easier to
buy medical equipment rather that rent it. In order for the medical equipment rental industry to overcome their competition they need to appeal to the
larger hospitals in the industry. While the medical equipment rental industry is a relativity new and growing market, the market trend is going in the
markets favor. Starting with the recession in 2008 medical facilities restructured their businesses in order to compensate for their budget cuts (Turk).
Because of the budget cuts, the market trend has gone in favor of the medical equipment rental industry. This trend leads many medical facilities to rent
medical equipment rather than buy the equipment. Furthermore many technologies in the medical equipment industry are within a higher price range
and are always changing. Due to the constant updating of medical equipment

Essay about Substrate
A1. Role of Enzymes in Processes
Enzymes are organic catalysts that help to speed up the breakdown of a molecule, such as fructose. The enzyme helps a chemical reaction take place
quickly so that the reaction happens properly. In order for that to happen the enzymes process by the lock and key model, the lock is the substrate
and the enzyme is the key. The active sites are specific to a certain substrate of a molecule, so the enzymes only have one job to do. The shape of an
enzyme is not changed or consumed during these reactions. However, without enzymes the reactions would take too long and would not breakdown
properly.

B1. Interconversions of Cori Cycle
If the Cori Cycle occurred and then remained in a single cell, no useful metabolic work would be complete. The reason for this is that "if the
Interconversions of the Cori Cycle were to take a place within a single cell it would constitute a "futile cycle" with glucose being consumed and
resynthesized at the expense of the ATP and GTP hydrolysis." (Campbell & Farrell, 2008) If this were to happen the cycle would essentially be running
in opposite directions, having no affect and wasting energy. Having both theglycolysis portion and the gluconeogenesis portion going at the same
time, will result in glucose being converted in to pyruvate by glycolysis and then converted back to glucose by gluconeogenesis, all this will cause a
use of ATP, not making. The cycle needs to take place in order to produce ATP, an energy source for the body especially during muscle activity.
B3. Defect Preventing Conversion of ADP to ATP
Having a deficiency in the Citric Acid cycle can create the entire cycle to halt essentially. Having the citric acid cycle halt can create a build–up of
lactic acid, decreasing the amount of oxygen getting to the tissues. Hypothetically the Citric Acid cycle is missing the enzyme malate; "Malic acid
acts as a catalyst in the Kreb's cycle to increase energy production from the burning of pyruvic acid. Malic acid also aids in exercise recovery by

In 2012, Campisano and Modica created a dimensionless methodology for the best design of domestic rainwater harvest systems. From these studies, it
can be proved that the previous research had poorly designed the intake of the rainwater harvest systems. The size of the designs of rainwater harvest
systems were kept in small communities. They also lacked consideration of all metropolitan catchments varying in special capacity and quality of the
systems. The second category in rainwater harvest systems is simulation and evaluation of the effectiveness. First the research included evaluating the
possible potential for safe to drink water savings by using rainwater in residential areas. The second thing that was in the research was estimating
nonpotable household potential. With the performance of storage type, and investigating the potential benefits from sharing rainwater harvest systems

The stock market crash of October 1929 drastically affected the economic growth of the entire United States. In Wisconsin the attitudes of many
changed and several began to devise plans on surviving the worst depression in the Nation's history. Wisconsin, like many other states suffered as
factories began to close, wages dropped, and unemployment became even more common. The effect of the stock market crash was all felt at once,
giving those little to no time to prepare for it. To help cope with the depression many companies began advertising to half price or reduced price items,
these items consisted of anything from food to cars. Throughout the next month employment for unskilled labor began to dry up leaving few job
opportunities for those not a trained. This was just the start of what was about to come. For the next ten years Winnebago County and the entire United
States would continue to suffer in this period known as The Great Depression.
The author's main purpose in writing this book was to explain what went on in Winnebago County during The Great Depression. They discussed issues
such as unemployment, debt relief, and slow industry during the depression and how those living in Winnebago County

Research on the Cell Cycle of an Onion Root Tip
Introduction:
Cell cycle is a series of sequenced events in a Eukaryotic (a cell with a nucleus and membrane–bounded organelles) from its origin until its division to
produce two daughter cells. There are different forms of cell division: mitosis: an asexual division that produces daughter nuclei with the exact copies
of the parent nuclei and Meiosis; cell division that reduces the number of chromosomes to produce specialized cells called gametes (sex cells) that
produces half the number of chromosome of the parent cell. Cell cycle is divided in three major steps: interphase, mitosis, and cytokinesis. During
interphase step, the cell produces proteins particular cells need to function properly. Interphase is separated into three phases: G1 phase where most
cell's organelles duplicate leading the cell to grow and expand, Synthesis phase where the DNA in the chromosome replicate, and G2 phase where the
proteins are synthesized preparing mitosis for cell division. Due to the numerous activities going on, the cell spends a lot of time in interphase. Next
major step of the cell cycle is the mitotic (M) phase, during which the cell splits into two distinct cells, often called "daughter cells". Mitosis is
accomplished during four stages: prophase, metaphase, anaphase and telophase. During prophase, the replicated chromosomes condense, so they can
move around freely, nuclear envelopes, the membrane that surrounds the nucleus scatters, and spindle protein structures called

The Great Depression Fashion
During the 1930's when the Great Depression took place, fewer people were sewing to make their own clothing and it started to switch to clothes
ready to wear when bought. Because of the stock market crash, the clothing manufacturers had to look for ways to conserve money and still put out
product. They started going to cheaper materials to create clothing and cheaper ways to make the clothing. Though not everyone was able to buy clothes
and would just reuse material they had at home. There were many hand–me down clothing for the children and people would sew their old shirts to
make underwear. Farmers would use their big sacks of flour or the sacks of livestock food to re–create them into dresses for the girls. People during the
depression were either making their own clothes from old materials or if they had enough money the could go out and buy new clothes but were
made from cheaper material. The poor people during the depression wore very simple clothes that were often their old clothes before the depression. If
there was a problem with their clothes, they would patch up their clothing with old socks or any material they could get their hands on. Even though
there was not a huge market for new clothing, there were still fashion designs that were popular for those who can afford it. 1There were still fashion
magazines being put out for women during the depression and that's how people got their information on the latest fashions. The clothing for women

How Does Depression Stop?
Imagine living a life full of pain and unhappiness that is so intense that everyday life itself stops. Many would say that would never happen to them,
but millions of people live this life every day. It's not by choice and many people don't do anything to cause these feelings. The world views
depression as a mindset, but it is a disease that cannot be "turned off". Depression is an evil illness that destroys lives and even families. The question
that many ask is "how does depression stop?" Sadly, it's a complicated illness that is difficult to understand and extremely hard to outrun. Like many
things in life, to fully understand something, you must know every aspect of it. Depression has not developed recently; it has been around for quite
some time. "Historical documents written by healers, philosophers and writers throughout the ages, point to the long–standing existence of depression
as a health problem. Initially depression was called "melancholia". The earliest accounts of melancholia appeared in ancient Mesopotamian text in

believed it was a spiritual illness. Their treatment of choice included exorcisms and other more barbaric strategies such as drowning and burning.

Role of Enzymes:

Enzymes are proteins that act as catalysts during a biochemical process. Catalysts are non–changing enzymes that can increase or decrease activation
energy to accelerate or slow down a biochemical reaction without using additional energy.
Enzymes break down molecules in our body faster than they would normally break down without enzymes.
On the biochemical level, enzymes work at precise temperatures and pH levels. When the temperature goes up, enzyme activity speeds up. When
temperatures decrease, enzyme activity slows down. If an enzyme is at too high of a temperature, it stops functioning. Stomach enzymes function in a

Diagram of Lock and Key Model
Cori Cycle
For needed energy, a molecule of glucose is broken down through a process called glycolysis to form 2 ATP's. The by
–product is lactic acid. During
intense, anaerobic muscle activity, anaerobic hydrolysis occurs. The Cori Cycle is activated to recycle the accumulated lactic acid back into useable
energy. The lactic acid travels through the bloodstream to the oxygen–rich liver and is converted back to glucose by a process called gluconeogenesis.
The glucose is then returned to the muscle to resupply it with energy. This conversion process uses up 6 ATP's to make 2 ATP's for the muscle to
reuse. This creates a net loss of 4 ATP's. The Cori cycle is meant to be a temporary shift of energy production from the oxygen
–depleted muscles to the
liver.
(Hudon–Miller, Cori, 2012)
If the this conversion process continues to occur within a single cell, it would be considered futile. The single cell's glucose would be used and then
resynthesized over and over again to the point where it will eventually become depleted of all ATP and die.

The Cori cycle is a metabolic pathway where lactic acid is made anaerobic glycolysis in the muscle and then travels to the liver where it is converted to
glucose and then goes back to the muscle and is made back into lactate. (Wikipedia, 2007) When muscle activity occurs epinephrine is released by the
brain. Epinephrine stimulates glycogen breakdown in the muscles as well as the liver. Muscle activity causes stored ATP (
Adenosine triphosphate) to be
used quickly and more ATP must be created by the breakdown of glycogen. In anaerobic conditions glucose is converted to pyruvate and then to lactic
acid. The lactic acid then travels though the blood stream to the liver. In the liver lactate is converted back to pyruvate and then back to glucose. Once
it has converted back to glucose it can be returned to the muscle for energy. (Ophardt, 2003)
When glycogen is used for an energy source 2 moles of ATP are produced per mole of glucose. However, when glucose is formed from lactate 6 ATP
are needed making it much less energy efficient. If the interconversions of the Cori cycle occurred and remained in a single cell you would deplete
energy sources because you have a –4 ATP when converting lactate to glucose of the cell and possible cell damage and you would then have a buildup
of the waste product lactic acid ultimately causing

The US Housing Market Bubble
When researching past economic recoveries, the housing market is the one to drive the economy out of recession. That being said, this economic
recession hasn't had much of an impact until recently. America's housing boom had a tremendous influence on the economy for its low prices and flow
of new home construction.
The new construction market in the mid 2000's was flourishing. People saw building a home as an opportunity for a solid investment because prices
and rates were so low that certain homes could depreciate extremely slowly. However, there would be a negative effect from all this low–cost new
construction and few were aware of just how devastating it would be to the new construction market.
In 2005, the market was flooded with a vast array of homes that were all selling at a low price, and this allowed people to buy and sell homes with
minimal effort. Banks were being reckless with their lending, not giving enough attention to who they were giving mortgages to, as virtually anybody
with a decent credit score could go to a bank and get a mortgage, sometimes without even going to see if the land and ability for development was
there. This created a housing bubble in 2006, and would inevitably come back to hurt a wide range of industries, but few were as damaged as the new
construction industry.
Once things started to get bad, they got really bad for a lot of families who were given mortgages, who were not properly qualified. There was a major
spike in defaults, with

The United States Is Facing A State Of Stagnation

  • 1. The United States Is Facing A State Of Stagnation Staples is a large enough company that despite negative economic conditions staples can still thrive. The United States is facing a state of stagnation. Despite heading towards a state of stagnation staples can aggressively pursue new markets and new areas to grow. Normally the economy goes through ups and downs in periods of six to twelve years. According to the capitalist theories a trade/monetary based society will always be heading in an upwards direction with normal economic fluctuation. In a state of stagnation, an economy doesn't grow and instead stays about the same or slowly declines over a long period of time. In a stagnant economy normal fluctuations do occur but there is no real growth happening. This stagnant economy comes from many different factors. Though our population is still growing our educated working class is shrinking in the work force with the baby booming generation starting retirement. Our population is still increasing due to immigration, not reproduction inside the country. (1), (2) The amount of debt currently owed to other countries is another reason for our pending stagnation. Currently our countries debt is at almost eighteen trillion dollars, about fifty six thousand dollars per citizen or about one hundred fifty six thousand dollars of debt per tax payer (3). Right now one of the few strategies the United States has is to combat their debt is to print money and increase inflation faster than the debt grows. By doing this ... Real Business Cycles Hypothesis Sees Cycles Introduction Real Business Cycles hypothesis sees cycles as starting in frictionless splendidly focused economies with for the most part finish markets subject to genuine stuns (irregular changes in innovation or efficiency), it makes the contention that cycles are predictable with aggressive general harmony situations in which all operators are levelheaded maximizers (The Economist). In opposition to what Keynesian, Monetarist, and new traditional business analysts trusted, RBC scholars, beginning with Nelson and Plosser in 1982, found that the theory that GDP development takes after an arbitrary walk can 't be rejected. They contended that a large portion of the adjustments in GDP were perpetual, and that yield development would not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Changes in the work supply or livelihood. RBC models were for the most part fruitful in representing diligence and co–movement, yet less effective in offering persuading clarifications for changes in occupation (Real Business Cycle Theory). The Baxter and King paper, "Fiscal Policy in General Equilibrium" concentrates on four exemplary financial approach tests inside a quantitatively confined neoclassical model. The creators ' primary discoveries are as per the following: lasting changes in government buys can prompt short–run and long–run yield multipliers that surpass one; perpetual changes in government buys instigate bigger impacts than transitory changes; the financing choice is quantitatively more critical than the asset expense of changes in government buys; and open venture affects private yield and speculation. These discoveries stem from critical element collaborations of capital and work truant in prior harmony investigations of monetary arrangement (Baxter King 1993). In the event that business cycles are brought about for the most part by changes in efficiency, instead of by money related and budgetary unsettling influences, what part do financial and monetary arrangements play? In Satyajit Chatterjee 's article he examines the likelihood that countercyclical money related and financial arrangements have assumed a vital part in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It also does not get used during the reaction (Hudon–Miller, 2012). 2. (Hudon–Miller, 2012). 3. (Hudon–Miller, 2012). 4. Fructose is component of sucrose, normal table sugar, along withglucose. Whereas glucose is able to immediately enter into glycolysis, fructose is not. Fructose is broken down via fructokinase into fructose– 1–phosphate. Fructose – 1–phospate then gets converted into DHAP+ glyceraldehyde via aldolase B. DHAP+ glyceraldehyde is used in glycolysis to produce pyruvate that goes into the citric acid cycle to produce ATP... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Lactate is then converted back into glucose by the liver. The liver is using an aerobic reaction to produce ATP. It takes 6 ATP from the liver during the cori cycle to produce 2 ATP for the muscle cells. Cells would not be able to survive long in a single muscle cell because it does not have the liver to produce more ATP and to convert lactate back into glucose (Hudon –Miller, 2012). 7. (Sanders,J. 2015). 8. A deficiency of succinyl CoA synthase can cause a decrease in the production of ATP. The decrease in ATP is seen the substrate level phosphorylation of converting succinyl CoA succinate This would cause the cycle to become acidic due to the buildup of lactic acid. If the cycle continued it would not be functional due to the acid. There would also be a decreased production of ATP in the mitochondria. NADH and Carbon Dioxide would also be decreased. ATP would be decreased because of the deficiency of succinyl CoA synthase. The conversion of succinyl CoA to succinate, which is catalyze and act on by succinyl CoA synthase an associated production of ATP occurs (Sanders,J. 2015). 9. When the animals stop taking this new form of birth control, their sperm rebound and they are able to produce perfectly healthy offspring once again."This compound produces a rapid and reversible decrease in sperm count and motility with profound effects on fertility," said James Bradner of the Dana–Farber Cancer Institute and lead author of the study.A male birth control... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... | | | | | Askmen In 1960, an invention revolutionized female sexuality and paved the way for the women's liberation movement. It was the birth–control pill, or simply "the pill" as it became popularly known. For four decades, the pill has put women primarily in the contraceptive driver's seat. But an increasing number of people – both men and women – want men to take a more active role in contraception use. Their wish may be granted in the foreseeable future, as research companies grow closer to revealing the first continuous, reversible male contraceptive pill. Researchers at Edinburgh University's Centre for Reproductive Biology have finally found a way to suppress daily sperm production while maintaining normal testosterone levels. This was not an easy task given that men emit millions of sperm in each, while women only produce one egg per month. The pill has proven to be 100% effective in preliminary clinical trials and is completely reversible. The pill contains desogestrel, a synthetic hormone that is the main component in the female pill, as well as the male hormone testosterone. This combination blocks the production of ... • 5. Cyclical History: One Of The Five Philosophies Of History If you look closely at history of the world, a person could believe that civilization moves in a cyclical form. Cyclical history is one of the five philosophies of history. Everything is born raises to maturity followed by a decline and then ends in death and then reborn again, a circular form. This circular theory is seen in: seasons, life, machinery, civilizations and in culture. Yet, acycle doesn't have to last for a day, a year, it could be 20 years or even 12,000 years. In some incidents, it is not known whether the cycle is at the end or at the beginning. Many cultures rely on cyclical history to show where we are in the cycle. Many cultures use cyclical history to describe the past. In China, history is based on dynasties. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of the philosophies is called linear history. This is a theory that life starts as creation and proceeds down a line to judgement day. This is especially noticeable in Judo–Christian religion. Each event or moment even though similar is different in some way. The events will never end the same. The third philosophy is progress of history, this theory is where human condition has improved so much and will continue to improve with the aid of technology and medicine. To give this theory some validation, people are taller, stronger, and we do live longer than before. The four philosophy is historicism, which by Gianmbattista Viso, means history was determined by laws and the belief that understanding people and cultures requires an understanding events. An example of this would be: what happen 200 years ago formed with the developing of the United States is why we are here today. The last philosophy is Marxism which implies that everyone labors for his basic needs which in other words–historical materialism. This theory is based on the changes in economic and pollical programs. Historical materialism presumes that the social structure and the economy are chiefly influenced by changes in material conditions (such as technology, forces of production, necessities of life). The canyon contains numerous amounts of springs. They are also part of the hydrologic cycle. A spring is a water resource formed when the side of a hill, a valley bottom or other excavation intersects a flowing body of ground water at or below the local water table, below which the subsurface material is saturated with water. (Perlman, 2011) They can live inside any type of rock. The springs held within the Grand Canyon dischargesgroundwater, and this groundwater supplies drinking water to the Canyon's visitors, Flagstaff, the Coconino Plateau, etc. The Grand Canyon will continue to change over time. However, it is uncertain as to what continued acts of weathering and mass wasting will do to it. Since the canyon was developed by erosion, mass wasting and weathering, the constant shaping of the Grand Canyon will continue. On the other hand, Geologists believe that the Grand Canyon will be affected by the Colorado River weathering away at the rock. Over millions of years, weathering, mass wasting and erosion have been said to form the Grand Canyon. With that said, the Canyon will grow larger, and the mile deep canyon will greatly increase. Rocks, big and small, will continue to fall down the Colorado River cutting through more rock layers. In Jonathan Swift's "The Lady's Dressing Room," Strephon, the paramour of a woman named Celia, sneaks into her chambers only to find that they are not the pristine haven he expected. What I Learned in AIS 2016 Before starting the Accounting Information Systems class, I had little idea of what accounting information was. After having Professor Carothers for previous accounting classes, I knew it would be a tough class but the knowledge I would gain would be well worth it and everlasting. Throughout this semester, I have learned a great deal of information, because of this it is hard to talk about everything. I decided instead of talking about everything I learned I would choose the topics I believe will be beneficial for later use, whether in school or at a job. The important topics I chose are; creativity, interviewing, cycles, frauds and errors, controls, and flowcharts. The proof of what I learned in this paper is the information stated in the following paragraphs in this paper. Some of the information stated in this paper was obtained from the sources posted on D2L for the AIS class of fall 2016 which is documented in my sources on the last page. The first and most emphasized topics in the class was creativity. I learned that creativity does not stop once you hit a certain age and is also not just for artists. Creativity is present in all jobs and varies from job to job. In this class I learned that creativity consists of five parts. First, is to evaluate the problem. Second, is to identify current knowledge. Third, is brainstorm how the current knowledge does or does not fit the problem. Fourth, develop solutions using the knowledge that fits into ... Community Assessment : York County, Pennsylvania Community Assessment – York County, Pennsylvania A major influence on health in a community is the availability of services and opportunities within the neighborhood. Public health can be further influenced by the social environments. Accessibility to health care along with education and employment opportunities are fundamental factors to be considered (Riegelman & Kirkwood, 2015). These elements create both advantages and disadvantages for those living within the neighborhood. If we want to improve public health outcomes, we must consider and evaluate these along with many other contributing factors. Setting Description York County, Pennsylvania is an urban community which, according to the US Census, covers 904.18 square miles with an average of 481.1 persons per square mile (State and County QuickFacts). The county is made up of approximately 73 cities, townships, and boroughs ranging in size. York City is the largest population of 43935 while Yorkana borough is smallest with a population of only 229. It had serious affected the financial sector and the macro–economy. According to Shiller (2007), the main reason of the sub–prime mortgage crisis and the worldwide economic and financial crisis of 2007–2009 is the housing bubble. It is also an important component of national wealth. In most developed economies, housing wealth takes up almost half of household wealth. The figure below shows this phenomenal in the United States. The data selected from 1952 to 2008. Housing wealth also fluctuates over time. Figure 2 illustrates the ratio of nominal housing wealth to nominal GDP in the US. From the figure, we can find that the ratio of housing wealth to GDP has averaged around 1.5 between 1952 and 2008. However, it has moved dramatically throughout this period. At the beginning of these periods, it was equal to 1.28; we can see the lowest value happen in 1962 and in 2005 it reaches the highest value of 2.26. It is at the peak of the recent housing boom. We began the project as though we had been contracted to analyze a cyclical steam injection project in a pay–zone similar to the Clearwater formation in Cold Lake, Alberta. In this heavy, dead oil reservoir the facilities, injectors, and producer are already set up in the field with a seven spot orientation. The company wants further analysis on the project once the market declined, requesting reservoir simulations be conducted over a six year period before proceeding. Through the program CMG STARS, we were able to simulate production in a field with similar characteristics, employing field data from technical papers referenced in this paper. The complex equations simultaneously solved in CMG STARS including multiphase fluid flow and conservation equations make the program an invaluable reservoir evaluation tool. Sensitivity analysis was conducted to monitor the production responses to changes in steam injection parameters, compiling over 40 simulations. The injection was optimized with a total of 35 simulations after identifying the most significant parameters impacting production. Net present values and cumulative production of oil and water were analyzed to construct a recommendation for the project. In this paper, we will discuss the model construction, sensitivity analysis, optimization, and economic analysis in greater detail. Although the constraints of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Boom And Bust Of The Housing Market Bubble As a member of the Millennial's and as a student of economics, The Great Recession, the greatest economic downturn we've seen in 70 years is truly an intriguing topic. It is the first economic crisis that many of my generation can truly say we lived through. With the burst of the housing bubble and the failure of various financial institutions, the United States was dragged kicking and screaming from the prosperous age of nearly uninterrupted economic growth since the early eighties, into an unemployment rate of over 9% and a decline in Real GDP in the first time in decades. Years after the end of the recession we still reel from its effects. How did the fiscal crisis begin in the first place? What institutions helped exasperate the... Many argue that this and other policies under the Reagan administration known as Reagonomics, were what led to the economic prosperity that we enjoyed in the 90's and 2000's. Rather than discuss what caused the economic growth of the era, we examine a few of the effects it had on markets, especially housing. The family home has always been a major part of the American dream, but it had an even bigger role in the Great Recession. Under legislative pressure banks eased up on a lot of the loans that they gave out. According to Peicuti (2014), "In the 2000s, the deregulation of the financial system and development of the originate–to–distribute banking model led commercial banks to finance subprime mortgages" (p.7). It then goes on to lists several characteristics that these borrowers may have including, "relatively high default probability as evidenced by, for example, a credit bureau risk... bankruptcy in the last five years... debt–service–to–income ratio of 50 percent or greater" (p.7). All of this tells us the same story, these were risky loans to make. We've learned from class that the interest rate is an indicator of the amount of risk on an asset. • 17. The Process Of Meiosis And Mitosis In order to better understand the process of meiosis and mitosis, students observed different types of asci. The arrangement of spores was associated to whether crossing over occurred during meiosis 1. We tried observing asci, from the mating plate that we did last lab, with a light microscope. However, the class was unsuccessful and were told to look for images of asci on google images and use these observations as our data. The observations obtained from google images, showed that 27 observations were made for asci of type 4:4, 19 for asci type 2:2:2:2 and 14 for asci of type 2:4:2 (Table IB–1). With these observations, we determined the map distance which was 27.5 map units (Figure 5.4). Since asci of type 4:4 were observed more, crossing over occurred less, thus producing less asci with different arrangements. Sordaria also undergo mitosis because the end result of meiosis are four haploid cells and haploid cells cannot divide by meiosis. Lastly, since more asci with type 4:4 were observed, the hypothesis was supported–more black ascus were also observed which supported the second hypothesis. Although students were not successful in observing asci during the lab, students were still able to understand the importance of meiosis and relate it to real life issues. The Citric Acid Cycle (adapted from Wikipedia, 2013) 7 Succinyl Coenzyme A Synthase is an enzyme that is responsible for the conversion of succinyl coenzyme A to succinate. This enzyme catalyzes the reaction and is responsible for creating ATP or GTP. The reaction takes place in the seven step of the Citric Acid Cycle. The tissues under which this enzyme is utilized appears to determine whether GTP or ATP are produced. Under conditions of anabolicmetabolism, in the liver and kidneys, GTP appears to be the product. While under catabolic reactions, ATP is produced. A deficiency in Succinyl Coenzyme A Synthase causes the disease Fatal Infantile Lactic Acidosis in newborns and is fatal within 2–4 days. The remnant follicle (now termed the corpus luteum) secretes progesterone (red line), which maintains the endometrial lining and causes it to enter the luteal phase. With triphasic COC's, three incremental doses (phases 1–3) of progestogen (blue line) with (pink line)/without (dashed pink line) a phase 2 dose increase in oestrogen are delivered over 21 days. This is followed by a 7–day placebo period, which induces menstruation (placebo). Exogenous delivery of hormones in this way achieves contraception with significantly lower doses of progestogen, whilst crudely mimicking endogenous increases in oestrogen and progesterone. It is 2013, and it is clear apparent that it is a "recession" longing to be cured. Through the works of Putnam, Sum et. al., Wisman, and Colander, we can better understand this crisis and look for the best way to get out of it. To begin, Robert Putnam describes what has occurred in the U.S. over the past several decades. He states that over the past several decades the U.S. has been subject to "[an] economic and cultural [entanglement] a mixture of government, private sector, community and personal failings" (Putnam 2013, III). Putnam believes that this financial crisis occurred as a result of layoffs, and many closings of businesses (Putnam 2013, 2). We can further this understanding by turning to Sum, et. al., who believed that the crisis occurred due to the blue–collar workers who have lost their jobs, and might never see those jobs again (Sum, et. al. 2010, 6). Our next economist to turn to is John D. Wisman. In his article he describes what he believes to be the cause of the crisis. He states that this recession occurred centered upon inadequate regulation stemming from laissez–faire ideology, and low interest rates (Wisman 2013, 921). He further points out that an underlying effect of wage stagnation and dramatically increasing inequality in the US over the past 35 years may also be a cause. Bartle argues that the gap has resulted from policy choices dominated by partisan ideologies and interest of the wealthy, specifically under the Republican Party, while Democrats have managed to slightly decrease the gap. Bartle sheds light on how poor voters have a disadvantage in which wealthier voters are more affluent to political leaders. In addition, Bartle examines whether voting patterns of voters have contributed to the growing economic inequality, and he concludes voters do not weigh more into social and cultural issues; rather Republic presidents are good at timing income growth to garner voters. Moreover, as the top percentage of Americans accumulated more wealth, the remaining percentage (primarily the middle–class) wages stagnated. This furthered the income inequality between the wealthy elite––those who had the financial means to significantly influence politics––and the middle and lower classes––those who struggled to maintain the basic welfare of their families and their social standing. As the gap increased and financial policies began to benefit primarily the top percent of wealthy Americans, the remaining percentages were forced to spend more for critical services like education and health care even though their wages were stagnated. This resulted in households spending larger portions of their incomes and saving less for the long run. Debt accumulation for middle–class and lower–class households rose significantly in the decades prior to the crisis. • 31. Designer Babies and Fertilization Problems Endometriosis– This condition is only present in women. It occurs when endometrial tissue (the lining of the uterine which sheds each period), grows on the outside of the uterus and is attached to reproductive or abdominal organs. This compromises normal functioning of the fallopian tubes through blockage. High levels of this hormone can negatively affect the development and release of eggs during ovulation. A possible theory to the cause of PCOS is a large amount of insulin in the body. Many women with PCOS have an excess of insulin in their bodies which then goes towards production of androgen. Sperm production problems– This is the most common cause of infertility in men. It occurs when low numbers of sperm are made andor the sperm don't work properly. This could be for a number of reasons such as; infections, varicocele and genetic issues. Infections may swell and or scar and block the passage for sperm. A varicocele is the swelling of veins that empty the testicle. This prevents normal cooling of the testicle and leads to reduced sperm count. Gamete intra–fallopian transfer This procedure consists of removing a women's egg then ... • 32. My Autobiography: Socialization And The Cycle Of Depression In my autobiography, I went into detail about being biracial, open–minded, and depressed. I did mention other traits, for instance being Buddhist, low–middle class, and being nineteen years of age. I just focused more on the first three because I think they all went hand in hand. Being biracial means I am combination of two different races. I used to hate being mixed and sometimes I still do, but having this physical trait has helped me be more compassionate towards others who are different. I always feel out of place when I'm with certain groups of people. Sometimes they'll make sure to mention that I'm different than the rest of them. I think being biracial has helped me become open–minded but is also a cause of my depression. I have learned many things throughout this course. I knew about most of the topics discussed throughout the class, but I only knew about them to a certain extent. Privilege and oppression were words I knew of but everyone who talked about it had different definitions of the terms. Now, I do know that majority of those peoples definitions were wrong. Everything we've learned throughout this course has been interesting and important to me, but I realized that I had more interest in the discussions about religious ... The Cycle of Socialization is the constant loop of discrimination that's not being resolved. It starts out at birth when the doctor tells says what gender the baby is (Harro, 2013, pg.46). The Cycle of Liberation happens after you start to realize things going on around you. The first step of this cycle is becoming more aware of what's happening (Harro, 2013, pg.619). I think these cycles are very important to understand. We would have a better society and community if we all could stop the Cycle of Socialization and get into that Cycle of ... Starting in 2009 the market has seen an increase due to both a recession and the rising costs of medical equipment (Turk). Because of both of these factors medical facilities have been forced to cut back and find new ways to save money. Through this industry, hospitals have begun to rent their medical equipment rather that to buy it, saving the facilities money while not hurting patient care. According to IBIS World, the medical equipment rental industry makes around a 1.3 billion dollar profit each year as well as employing around twenty thousand employees (Turk). Currently, the medical equipment rental industry's competition consists of companies that actually sell medical equipment to hospitals and other places. While the medical rental market is growing fast, the industry has a low market share. Because of the low market share the industry has a hard time keeping up with their competition. Additionally medical rental services appeal to mostly smaller hospitals with smaller budgets. While small hospitals are a large part of the health care industry the larger hospital takes up a large part. Because larger hospitals have larger budgets, it 's easier to buy medical equipment rather that rent it. In order for the medical equipment rental industry to overcome their competition they need to appeal to the larger hospitals in the industry. While the medical equipment rental industry is a relativity new and growing market, the market trend is going in the markets favor. Starting with the recession in 2008 medical facilities restructured their businesses in order to compensate for their budget cuts (Turk). Because of the budget cuts, the market trend has gone in favor of the medical equipment rental industry. This trend leads many medical facilities to rent medical equipment rather than buy the equipment. The enzyme helps a chemical reaction take place quickly so that the reaction happens properly. In order for that to happen the enzymes process by the lock and key model, the lock is the substrate and the enzyme is the key. The active sites are specific to a certain substrate of a molecule, so the enzymes only have one job to do. The shape of an enzyme is not changed or consumed during these reactions. However, without enzymes the reactions would take too long and would not breakdown properly. A2. Interconversions of Cori Cycle If the Cori Cycle occurred and then remained in a single cell, no useful metabolic work would be complete. The reason for this is that "if the Interconversions of the Cori Cycle were to take a place within a single cell it would constitute a "futile cycle" with glucose being consumed and resynthesized at the expense of the ATP and GTP hydrolysis." (Campbell & Farrell, 2008) If this were to happen the cycle would essentially be running in opposite directions, having no affect and wasting energy. Having both theglycolysis portion and the gluconeogenesis portion going at the same time, will result in glucose being converted in to pyruvate by glycolysis and then converted back to glucose by gluconeogenesis, all this will cause a use of ATP, not making. The cycle needs to take place in order to produce ATP, an energy source for the body especially during muscle activity. B3. Defect Preventing Conversion of ADP to ATP Having a deficiency in the Citric Acid cycle can create the entire cycle to halt essentially. Having the citric acid cycle halt can create a build–up of lactic acid, decreasing the amount of oxygen getting to the tissues. Hypothetically the Citric Acid cycle is missing the enzyme malate; "Malic acid acts as a catalyst in the Kreb's cycle to increase energy production from the burning of pyruvic acid. Braatz and Thomas J. Rowland. Copyright 2009 by University Press of America. Published Lanham, Maryland 20706. ISBN–13: 978–0761846406. The stock market crash of October 1929 drastically affected the economic growth of the entire United States. In Wisconsin the attitudes of many changed and several began to devise plans on surviving the worst depression in the Nation's history. Wisconsin, like many other states suffered as factories began to close, wages dropped, and unemployment became even more common. The effect of the stock market crash was all felt at once, giving those little to no time to prepare for it. To help cope with the depression many companies began advertising to half price or reduced price items, these items consisted of anything from food to cars. Throughout the next month employment for unskilled labor began to dry up leaving few job opportunities for those not a trained. This was just the start of what was about to come. For the next ten years Winnebago County and the entire United States would continue to suffer in this period known as The Great Depression. The author's main purpose in writing this book was to explain what went on in Winnebago County during The Great Depression. They discussed issues such as unemployment, debt relief, and slow industry during the depression and how those living in Winnebago County ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 42. Research on the Cell Cycle of an Onion Root Tip Introduction: Cell cycle is a series of sequenced events in a Eukaryotic (a cell with a nucleus and membrane–bounded organelles) from its origin until its division to produce two daughter cells. There are different forms of cell division: mitosis: an asexual division that produces daughter nuclei with the exact copies of the parent nuclei and Meiosis; cell division that reduces the number of chromosomes to produce specialized cells called gametes (sex cells) that produces half the number of chromosome of the parent cell. Cell cycle is divided in three major steps: interphase, mitosis, and cytokinesis. During interphase step, the cell produces proteins particular cells need to function properly. Interphase is separated into three phases: G1 phase where most cell's organelles duplicate leading the cell to grow and expand, Synthesis phase where the DNA in the chromosome replicate, and G2 phase where the proteins are synthesized preparing mitosis for cell division. Due to the numerous activities going on, the cell spends a lot of time in interphase. Next major step of the cell cycle is the mitotic (M) phase, during which the cell splits into two distinct cells, often called "daughter cells". Mitosis is accomplished during four stages: prophase, metaphase, anaphase and telophase. During prophase, the replicated chromosomes condense, so they can move around freely, nuclear envelopes, the membrane that surrounds the nucleus scatters, and spindle protein structures called ... The Great Depression Fashion During the 1930's when the Great Depression took place, fewer people were sewing to make their own clothing and it started to switch to clothes ready to wear when bought. Because of the stock market crash, the clothing manufacturers had to look for ways to conserve money and still put out product. They started going to cheaper materials to create clothing and cheaper ways to make the clothing. Though not everyone was able to buy clothes and would just reuse material they had at home. There were many hand–me down clothing for the children and people would sew their old shirts to make underwear. Farmers would use their big sacks of flour or the sacks of livestock food to re–create them into dresses for the girls. People during the depression were either making their own clothes from old materials or if they had enough money the could go out and buy new clothes but were made from cheaper material. The poor people during the depression wore very simple clothes that were often their old clothes before the depression. If there was a problem with their clothes, they would patch up their clothing with old socks or any material they could get their hands on. Even though there was not a huge market for new clothing, there were still fashion designs that were popular for those who can afford it. 1There were still fashion magazines being put out for women during the depression and that's how people got their information on the latest fashions. Many would say that would never happen to them, but millions of people live this life every day. It's not by choice and many people don't do anything to cause these feelings. The world views depression as a mindset, but it is a disease that cannot be "turned off". Depression is an evil illness that destroys lives and even families. The question that many ask is "how does depression stop?" Sadly, it's a complicated illness that is difficult to understand and extremely hard to outrun. Like many things in life, to fully understand something, you must know every aspect of it. Depression has not developed recently; it has been around for quite some time. "Historical documents written by healers, philosophers and writers throughout the ages, point to the long–standing existence of depression as a health problem. Initially depression was called "melancholia". The earliest accounts of melancholia appeared in ancient Mesopotamian text in Page 2 the second millennium B.C." (Nemade, Reiss and Dombeck). Back then people that experienced depression was sent to a priest because they believed it was a spiritual illness. Their treatment of choice included exorcisms and other more barbaric strategies such as drowning and burning. Some were even tied up or locked away in "lunatic asylums". Task 4: Metabolism Enzyme Induced Fit Model and Activation Energy Role of Enzymes:
Enzymes are proteins that act as catalysts during a biochemical process. Catalysts are non–changing enzymes that can increase or decrease activation energy to accelerate or slow down a biochemical reaction without using additional energy. Enzymes break down molecules in our body faster than they would normally break down without enzymes. On the biochemical level, enzymes work at precise temperatures and pH levels. When the temperature goes up, enzyme activity speeds up. When temperatures decrease, enzyme activity slows down. If an enzyme is at too high of a temperature, it stops functioning. Build of F–1–P sends signals to glucokinase to remain in cell and reduce release of glucose. This leads to a drop in blood sugar (hypoglycemia). (High Fructose, n.d.) Diagram of Lock and Key Model Cori Cycle For needed energy, a molecule of glucose is broken down through a process called glycolysis to form 2 ATP's. The by –product is lactic acid. During intense, anaerobic muscle activity, anaerobic hydrolysis occurs. The Cori Cycle is activated to recycle the accumulated lactic acid back into useable energy. The lactic acid travels through the bloodstream to the oxygen–rich liver and is converted back to glucose by a process called gluconeogenesis. The glucose is then returned to the muscle to resupply it with energy. This conversion process uses up 6 ATP's to make 2 ATP's for the muscle to reuse. This creates a net loss of 4 ATP's. The Cori cycle is meant to be a temporary shift of energy production from the oxygen –depleted muscles to the liver. (Hudon–Miller, Cori, 2012) If the this conversion process continues to occur within a single cell, it would be considered futile. The single cell's glucose would be used and then resynthesized over and over again to the point where it will eventually become depleted of all ATP and die. (The Cori Cycle, n.d.) (Fernandes, J 2006) The Cori cycle is a metabolic pathway where lactic acid is made anaerobic glycolysis in the muscle and then travels to the liver where it is converted to glucose and then goes back to the muscle and is made back into lactate. (Wikipedia, 2007) When muscle activity occurs epinephrine is released by the brain. Epinephrine stimulates glycogen breakdown in the muscles as well as the liver. Muscle activity causes stored ATP ( Adenosine triphosphate) to be used quickly and more ATP must be created by the breakdown of glycogen. In anaerobic conditions glucose is converted to pyruvate and then to lactic acid. The lactic acid then travels though the blood stream to the liver. In the liver lactate is converted back to pyruvate and then back to glucose. Once it has converted back to glucose it can be returned to the muscle for energy. However, when glucose is formed from lactate 6 ATP are needed making it much less energy efficient. • 48. The US Housing Market Bubble When researching past economic recoveries, the housing market is the one to drive the economy out of recession. That being said, this economic recession hasn't had much of an impact until recently. America's housing boom had a tremendous influence on the economy for its low prices and flow of new home construction. The new construction market in the mid 2000's was flourishing. People saw building a home as an opportunity for a solid investment because prices and rates were so low that certain homes could depreciate extremely slowly. However, there would be a negative effect from all this low–cost new construction and few were aware of just how devastating it would be to the new construction market. In 2005, the market was flooded with a vast array of homes that were all selling at a low price, and this allowed people to buy and sell homes with minimal effort. Banks were being reckless with their lending, not giving enough attention to who they were giving mortgages to, as virtually anybody with a decent credit score could go to a bank and get a mortgage, sometimes without even going to see if the land and ability for development was there. This created a housing bubble in 2006, and would inevitably come back to hurt a wide range of industries, but few were as damaged as the new construction industry. Once things started to get bad, they got really bad for a lot of families who were given mortgages, who were not properly qualified. There was a major spike in defaults, with ...
