-Rhode Island 
-Connecticut 
-Massachusetts 
-New Hampshire 
• Important 
attributes/characteristics: 
They were Family oriented, 
colonies were religion based, and 
they made and grew everything 
by themselves.
Middle Colonies 
• Colonies included 
-Delaware 
-New York 
-Pennsylvania 
-New Jersey 
• Important 
attributes/characteristics: 
Not all about family. Socially, 
politically, and economically 
diverse. They were Quakers and 
they didn’t believe in war(Pacifist).
Southern Colonies 
• Colonies included 
-Maryland 
-Virginia 
-North Carolina 
-South Carolina 
-Georgia 
• Important 
attributes/characteristics: 
Family Oriented so they all worked 
on the plantation, Did many things 
by themselves, came to make 
money.
Triangular Trade 
• As colonies began to grow so did economies so a trade route pattern 
began 
• Ships Carried Slaves or crops
The Great Awakening 
• Important role in American Colonies 
• The great awakening was a Religious Revival 
• People would come 1000s of miles to hear the preacher 
• Increased church membership 
• Influenced life in colonial American and beyond
Enlightenment Thinking 
• Brought logic and reason into the way colonist thought about religion 
and government 
• A focus in Balance of Power 
• Our founding fathers believed that Using reason and logic we could 
created a better form of government
