The Students
Student
School
Also called “Learners”. Someone who goes to
university, college or to school.
A place where someone goes to be taught,
for an specific time.
FIVE DEVELOPING AREAS
School plays an important role in children´s development.
Students will develop skills and abilities:
Cognitive skill,
Speaking skill,
Affective skill,
Social skill,
Fine and gross motor skill.
Provide a good
development for
children.
Help them become
successful adults.
COGNITIVE SKILL
Is what makes them build knowledge and process information
Knowledge is the product of this skill.
Without the cognitive skill, children are not able to build more
knowledge.
SPEAKING SKILL
Take place when:
Children need to communicate
Children interact with they parents having non-verbal language
(gestures, body language, sounds)
Communicating, negotiating meanings of what they say with others.
HOW STUDENTS DO IT?
Practicing dialogues, learning songs, poems, rhymes and tongue twirls
this improve their pronunciation, intonation and fluency
SOCIAL SKILL
Is the ability that will make the live in a community, being part of a
group
Students start:
Learning to share their things
Realizing that they will not be always the center of the attention
Working in groups.
Their social abilities are the ones that will let the be successful in
their future life.
 This skill is divided in two: fine and gross.
 The Fine motor skill refers to the movements we make
with our hands like handwriting, painting, coloring,
cutting.
 The Gross motor skill refers to the activities, sports,
games and physical movements people do with the
whole body.
 The motor skills should be developed since they
increase children’s creativity and motor abilities,
they are part of our daily life.
 Three steps can be noticed during childhood:
 The first childhood (from 0 to 3 years old)
 The second childhood (from 3 to 6 years old
 The third childhood (from 6 to 12 years old)
 The first childhood has some children’s interests that
characterize it.
 Sensorial interests. They are present since children
were born until they are 8 months.
 These interests develop their five sensorial organs,
which are eyes, ears, mouth, nose and hands.
 During this step, they move a lot and they want to
taste everything as well as they start organizing their
movements for walking and touching.
 They are present since children were born until they
are 8 months.
 the motor interests. During the first childhood,
children have an important purpose, which is walking
and the motor interests motivate them to do it.
 These take place in children’s life from 6 to 8 months.
 The glossy or language interest, which is from 4 to 6
months, is the third interest.
 In this interest children make their first attempts to
pronounce some words and say something.
 Their parents and relatives as well as the media
(television, radio) make them start talking.
 When children are between 1 and 3 years old, they
need parents or relatives who are affectionate,
consistent and who help them trust and bond with
family and friends.
 Children also need experiences in caring for
themselves:
 Feeding themselves
 Brushing their teeth
 Dressing.
Preschoolers’s characteristics
*Integration of I
TO RECOGNIZE THEIR OWN AND OTHER’S PEOPLE
SPECIAL CHARACTERISTICS AS WELL AS TO UNDERSTAND THAT
THEY ARE DIFFERENT.
*Disobedience:
WHY PRESCHOOLERS DISOBEY?
ONE REASON WHY PRESCHOOLERS DISOBEY IS BECAUSE THEY
WANT TO CATCH ATTENTION FROM THEIR PARENTS AND
OTHER PEOPLE.
IS THAT THEY WOULD LIKE TO BE SEEN
DIFFERENT FROM THE OTHER CHILDREN.
THEY WANT TO SEE WHAT HAPPENS IF THEY DO
THINGS THAT THEIR PARENTS TELL THEM NOT TO
DO.
*The father figure
IS ESSENTIAL FOR CHILDREN TO SHARE THEIR
PERSONALITY AND HERE A PROCESS OF
ADAPTATION.
*Games
THEY ALLOW CHILDREN TO EXPRESS
THEIR FEELINGS AND EMOTIONS, TO
RELEASE ALL THE ENERGY THEY HAVE AS
WELL AS TO HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO
FEEL SURE, MOTIVATED AND SATISFIED.
*SEXUALITY
CHILDREN START MANIFESTING THEIR
SEXUALITY BY CLASSIFYNG THINGS IN GENRE.
THEY GIVE A GENRE TO ALL THE THINGS AND
OBJECTS, FOR EXAMPLE BY ADDING THEM AN
ARTICLE. MOREOVER THEY RECOGNIZE THE
CLOTHES THEY MUST WEAR.
*Image of the world
THEY NEED TO UNDERSTAND WHAT
HAPPENS AROUND THEM AND HOW
THE THINGS WORK SO THAT THEY
CAN FEEL CONFIDENT AND SECURE.
