Ways in Which Shakespeare Entertains His Audience in...
Ways in Which Shakespeare Entertains His Audience in Twelfth Night
Shakespeare entertains his audience in many different ways, from the complications of the main
characters love to the overtly comic schemes of others. The main method which Shakespeare uses to
entertain his audience in this particular play is that of two plots, one main and one a sub plot,
interlocking with each other throughout.
One of the main themes throughout Twelfth Night is that of confusion and mistaken identity. This is
illustrated mainly by Viola as Cesario, confusing all of the characters into thinking that she is a man.
The only people that know of her true identity (apart from the sea captain at the very beginning) ...

He immediately takes the letters M.O.A.I to signify him, since all the letters are in his name.
It would bow to me, for every one of these letters are in my name!
It is not made clear what these letters were intended to mean, but what is clear to the audience is how
quickly Malvolio centres them on himself.
The letter is signed The fortunate unhappy . This oxymoron used by Shakespeare adds an extra touch
of comedy to the scene as it is clear to everyone except for Malvolio that the letter is a fake.
It is scenes like this which ensure that Malvolio is disliked by the audience, making it entertaining
when other characters such as Mary play tricks on him:
Observe him, for the love of mockery, for I know this letter will make a complete idiot of him
Malvolio, who is a servant and therefore lower in the hierarchy than Olivia or her uncle, often looks
down on Sir Toby as if he is better than him. At one point, Malvolio finds Sir Toby, drinking and
singing in the middle of the night and asks;
Is there no respect of place, persons, nor time in you?

Taylor Swift And Harris Research Paper
On Tuesday night, the American singer songwriter and actress behind the hit song Bad Blood Taylor
Swift and Calvin Harris (the Scottish DJ, singer, record producer and remixer) managed to be in the
same town, as the Hollywood couple enjoying their dinner together.
But, instead of settling for a table for two, Taylor Swift and Calvin Harris appeared to have welcomed
another celebrity couple into the mix.
Photographers spotted the Shake It Off singer exiting the Palm Restaurant in Beverly Hills Tuesday
night donning black skinny jeans and a leather jacket.
And just minutes later, the English model and actress who is famous for her work for lingerie retailer
Victoria s Secret Rosie Huntington Whiteley and boyfriend Jason Statham (English actor, former diver
and martial artist) walked out holding hands. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

However, with all of the Shake It Off singer s famous friends, this may not be the biggest surprise to

singer, actor and a member of the pop rock band Jonas Brothers Joe Jonas and Gigi Hadid (American

How Does Darl Lose His Mother s Death
Jake Barns, in Ernest Hemingway s The Sun Also Rises, and Darl Bundren in William Faulkner s As I
Lay Dying both have a certain desire, throughout their respective novels, for the affection and
attention of a particular woman in their lives. For Jake it is Brett, and for Darl it is his own mother,
Addie Bundren. However due to unfortunate occurrences in their lives, they can no longer gain that
love and affection. Daryl and Jake both seek for the attraction of a woman in their life but due to
circumstances they cannot have that affection and both authors both present this idea of having an
increased desire for this you can no longer have through different complexities of thought and
sentence structure.

As his mother s life began to deprive more and more Darl feels as if a force ..was driving him from his
mother s death bed, never to see her in this world again (Faulkner, 15). Darl feels there is a wedge
between him and his mother that is continuing to grow and drive them further and further apart as she
continues to die. The other characters that narrate the story tell about the comparison between Darl
and his mother and believes that ...he was the only one of them that had his mothers nature, had any
natural affection (Faulkner, 15). The other characters see him as being the most similar to the mother
and the person who showed the most affection for his mother, but his mother continued to neglect him.
He sets out to try to and impress her and be the favorite. However Darl is envious of the affection
Jewel receives. He is angered because has no interest in the affection being granted. Darl says he ...can
not love my mother because I have no mother, Jewel s mother is a horse (Faulkner, 61). Darl is jealous
of the affection his brother got from his mother. His brother was abusive and violent and resented his
mother while she continued to try and show affection to Jewel. Hemingway makes sure to come
straight out and give us direct thoughts straight from the characters. Faulkner presents the same idea as
Hemingway but uses different thought process and different thought and sentence

Argumentative Essay On Buy Nothing Day
The rise of industrialization and manufacturing that began in the eighteenth century has drastically
changed the lifestyles of the world. No longer do citizens find, make, or trade for everything they need
at home and in their local communities, but instead they rely on national and global commerce to
provide for them. This shift in production is the basis for the annual Buy Nothing Day, which attempts
to reverse the ill effects of gross consumerism and spread awareness of the issues in our current
lifestyles. While many critics would point to the fact that one day will provide little to no discernable
impact on the problems faced, Buy Nothing Day will produce greater effects through the awareness it
provides than any actual deeds committed on that singular day. Widespread consumerism and the
materialistic society we live in has many detrimental effects on the environment. The factories,
vehicles, and resources used to sustain our goods based economy contribute greatly to global climate
change, pollution, and deforestation. Your coffee beans from Starbucks are harvested from dying out
forests in South America, among other places, and shipped to the location nearest you by using
excessive quantities of non renewable fossil fuels, all so you can receive your morning pick me up.
While refraining from purchasing that coffee on Buy Nothing Day alone will not provide an
immediate solution to the issue at hand, the ideals preached by the yearly event can make the

A Comparison of The Signalman and The Red Room Essay
A Comparison of The Signalman and The Red Room
The Signalman and the Red Room are well known examples of nineteenth century ghost stories. Write
a critical comparison of these two stories. What do you consider to be their strengths and which of the
stories do you enjoy the most.
Charles Dickens and H.G. Wells were both living during the Victorian era. The many radical changes
in this era tainted their writing. Both Wells and Dickens were against the social situation at the time,
this is evident in their writings. Although Britain had many colonies, wealth was not circulating
amongst its people. This made life unbearable for some. Dickens and Wells spoke out against this and
were concerned ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the Red Room the visitor is travelling through a corridor and then into a room. The corridor is
shadowy and the visitor has to move his candle from side to side he does this to see what is before him
on either side, before actually moving on. This creates an atmosphere of tension even before he
reaches the Red Room. When the visitor enters the red room he notices a shadow in the alcove , this
alarms him and he does not feel quite alone with the presence of the shadow. To reassure myself he
places candles in various places to block all shadows from forming.
In The Signalman Dickens uses large sentences so the result is therefore trying to create an effect of
ongoing images in the mind of the visitor and in the setting of the place. Dickens also uses long
sentences in The Signalman, when he is describing the setting. This is because he is trying to create an
image in the readers mind; this is achieved by long descriptions. An array of powerful adjectives is
utilized by Wells, such as grand staircase , great window this exaggerates the visitor s journey down
the corridor. The castle seems gargantuan in size and seems to overwhelm the visitor. Also there is not
much dialogue in The Red Room. This is mainly because the visitor is on his own with his mind.

When Bad Things Happen To Good People Analysis
Introduction In the novel, When Bad Things Happen to Good People by Harold. S Kushner the theme
of suffering was explored. Kushner attended Columbia University obtaining a BA and an MA. He was
then ordained a Rabbi in 1960 and lead a very religious life. Kushner s young son was diagnosed with
progeria, which causes his body to age quickly. He died when he was fourteen and this caused
Kushner to question his faith. He decided to write this novel because of this; wanting to help others
deal with their suffering and strengthen their faith. The religious and self help tone of the novel helped
to convey his message very well.
Objective
Kushner begins by discussing simple answers that people have thought of to explain why bad things
happen to good people. Next, he takes a closer look at four main causes as to why people suffer. First,
sometimes there is no reason. The world is random and many things do not follow any particular
order. This means that if someone gets hurt, they may have been in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Kushner explains that God does not create this chaos, but tries to make order out of it. Second, the
laws of nature do not make exceptions for nice people. If a rock is going to fall, it is going to fall
whether someone is under it or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By suffering ourselves, we are able to have a better understanding the suffering of others. Kushner
attributes much of his characteristics as a person to all of the times he has suffered. When considering
his son s suffering and how that affected him he said, I am a more sensitive person, ... a more
sympathetic counselor because of Aaron s life and death than I would ever have been without it
(Kushner 133). If he had not suffered, he would not understand suffering; it is as simple as that.
Having this connection with all of humanity has helped Kushner become not only a better Rabbi but a
better and more merciful

Survive in the Lord of the Flies by William Golding Essay
When humans are pushed to survive, they are willing to do anything to do so. In the novel Lord of the
Flies by William Golding, a group of boys are stranded on an island and have to survive, however as
the story progresses the boys become more barbaric and savage like. Even though there are good
people in this world, there will always be evil. Why does evil exist? Golding s belief of human nature
is that humans are naturally evil and savage. However, law and civility keep humans from turning into
this natural state of evil and Golding uses the development of Jack to show how savagery is created.
Golding uses other characters to show Jack s regression to savagery and one of these characters is
Ralph. Ralph brings out Jack s inner savagery ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The setting of the novel takes place on a peaceful, life giving island. However, once the boys came to
the island, the island slowly became consumed in darkness as the boys became more savage like.
Towards the beginning of the novel, Golding emphasizes the light hearted mood by describing the
brightness and beauty of the island, The palms that stood made a green roof, covered on the underside
with a quivering tangle of the reflection from the lagoon. (pg 12). Just like the island, the boys start
out as peaceful boys when they first arrive on the island. However, as the boys became more corrupted
by savagery, so does the island and Golding effectively uses this in the scene where the boys lose
control of themselves and in their bloodlust, kill Simon, The clouds opened and let down the rain like
a waterfall... (pg 153). Golding s use of the setting shows the evil in humans by giving the reader a
mental illustration of the progression of the island turning from paradise to despair, much like how
Jack starts out as a normal boy, but progresses into savagery. The conch is one of the most important
symbols in the novel because it represents civility on the island and without civility, the whole island
would fall into chaos. Golding uses the conch to show what would happen to humans if law and order
were removed from humanity. Rules and order are the only things that are keeping the boys from
falling into savagery. Jack is one of the first

Does Jason Momoa Lose His Arm
For Aquaman followers, it is a known fact that the DC super hero loses his arm in the comics. The
question is, will Jason Momoa s character also be losing the very same arm?
If Jason Momoa s appearance holds any clue, it may just follow Peter David s version of the character.
Peter David, the writer of the Time and Tide series, gives the super hero a rugged look. He forgoes the
clean cut appearance and gives him a long beard and rugged facial features. In the comics and the TV
animation series, Aquaman loses his left hand to several different stories.
One, he tries to save his mother and son from destruction while he is cuffed somewhere else. He did
not have a choice but to cut his arm off. Another story features a piranha scenario. Charbydis,

Coming from prior experience of having to go to counseling as a teenager, being a client in a peer

enough to help deal with a particular problem I had been going through and wanted to search for a
possible resolution or change towards the problem for the near future. Though I did not know the
helper personally, I had known the helper through another sports team, and being friends within the
class helped with being comfortable talking about an issue within my own respective sport. Going into
the session being both athletes at the University of Maryland was comforting due to understanding
where we both were coming from. The helper concentrated working through each of the different
skills through the 3 stage model learned throughout the entire semester to help with my particular
issue within the training staff. I noticed her help and focus of wanting to guide through my initial
emotions of the situation, moving towards providing advice and insight about the problem, and lastly
providing possible recommendations and solutions towards confronting the issue at hand. It felt good

relating towards the initial problem. Listening to the helper coming from a different perspective on the
issue helped see from a new perspective outside my own opinions about the problem and

Ballet Slippers Research Paper
Ballet Slippers Culture is the overview of how a group of people live, their beliefs and moral system,
and basic things such as how they dress. Culture is subjective, no two people see it the same way. I
may see Scottish culture as a group of people who wear kilts and play bagpipes, but someone else may
think it involves red hair and haggis. Culture is often made up of stereotypes, for example: someone
may believe that Canadian culture is igloos, pet polar bears, apologizing, and saying eh after every
word. In reality Canadian culture from the perspective of someone living in it includes: different
religions, holding the door for someone behind you, and wearing a tuque in winter. There are multiple
layers of culture, the blanket term; usually referring to the country or main region in which you live.
Culture can then be broken down into many sub categories such as: ... Show more content on

Ballet started in Italian Renaissance, but spread through Europe and made it s way into North

dance. Television shows such as So You Think You Can Dance , and America s Got Talent showcase

because of it s classical nature, but as boring or old fashioned it may seem it often is the basics for
most styles of dance. It is one of the most technically challenging, and ballerinas are some of the most

The Experimental Life Analysis
The essays The Strenuous Life by Theodore Roosevelt and The Experimental Life by Randolph
Bourne present conflicting views on the ideal lifestyle. Roosevelt suggests that the only acceptable life
is one that involves progress through struggle and perseverance while Bourne claims that because life
is filled with uncertainty it is best to prepare and embrace it. While Roosevelt s and Bourne s
arguments greatly differ from each other, both offer valid pieces of advice on how to live a more ideal
lifestyle. Roosevelt s essay addressed the working class of America and the respect that he had for
them. He stated that he wanted to preach the highest form of success which comes not to the man who

Similarities can be drawn between the themes of Roosevelt s essay and the subtext of Jack London s

when comparing America to other countries or territories. London does this when contrasting the
primitive characteristics of Jees Uck to the advanced nature of Neil Bonner. London then goes on to

Early Gothic Cathedral
An example of an early gothic cathedral is the Wells Cathedral, Somerset. It was built from 1175
1490s. It holds one of the most numbers of stained glass windows. The five windows in the Lady
Chapel shows images of saint Dunstan, and the seven light windows on the choir which portrays the
Tree of Jesse. This is a representation of the genealogy of Christ. Most of the carvings on the abacus
are a foliage motif, but the carvings on the transepts closer to the nave holds more symbolism. They

The internal plan of the cathedral are greater in length relative to the width, and consists of a nave or
central vessel with aisles at both sides and transepts which make the arms of a cathedral plan and
creating a cross shape when viewed in plan. When the transepts are applied, it is normal to have them
placed directly opposite of each other, for example like in Lichfield Cathedral. The Eastern side is
where the most value is held in the Cathedral, which is marked by greater diversity in form, richness,
and height difference of the ribbed vault. In England, the Eastern section is almost always a square

internal section of cathedrals are made up of a main arcade, which are arches supported by long and
thin pillars. [2] Above that is the Triforium, and a Gallery surrounding it and above the aisle. On the
highest level is the Clerestory, topped by the ribbed vault and the new roof. The roof is often enriched
with tiles or other coverings. Ornaments such as mouldings, carvings and the use of colour have added
a point of interest and beauty to the gothic cathedral. The gables, a triangular shaped wall forming the
roof, is one of the most distinctive gothic characteristic. It is placed at the end of the nave and

The Separation Of Powers
Separation of Powers
During the drafting of the United States Constitution at the Constitutional Convention of 1787, a topic
of most importance was the separation of power amongst the three branches of government: the
legislative, judicial, and executive. Following the end of the Constitutional Convention, Alexander
Hamilton, James Madison, and John Jay wrote a series of essays known as the Federalist Papers
promoting the ratification of the constitution. In it, they responded to the critique presented by the
people known as the anti federalist. In Federalist Papers No. 47 49 51, James Madison addresses the
need to establish the separation of powers, but to further develop them with a system of checks and

Aside from specific rules and boundaries, there must also be overlap amongst the branches. The clear
lines are drawn to protect the branches from one another but Madison believes that unless these
departments be so far connected and blended as to give to each a constitutional control over the others,
the degree of separation which the maxim requires, as essential to free government, can never in
practice be duly maintained (Madison 1788, 300). Unless the branches are connected and give each a
constitutional control over the others we cannot maintain the separation essential to free government.
The anti federalist believed that the framing of the state constitution just stating the boundary lines
between the branches was enough but something stronger is

Use of Imagery
Discuss the use of imagery in two stories of your choice. How do the various images work in a
particular story to bring its subject matter into focus? Is there a central image? And how does this
enhance or confuse or complicate the effect of the story?
Short fiction can be seen as a literary medium through which the writer concisely creates a story that
is almost as fleeting in its detail, as it is in its length of words. Imagery can be used in varying
manners depending on what the writer is trying to achieve. In the short story Sleepy by Anton
Chekhov, we see a more vivid and palpable type of imagery that s almost figurative and has the ability

Although somewhat subtle, the idea that this ball is Leila s first seems to be the central image of the
story, as Mansfield returns to it throughout the narrative. We see Leila continually informing her dance

her that she had never known what the night was like before. Up till now it had been dark, silent [...].
However even when focusing on this central image, Mansfield seems to withdraw from it and return
to the dazzling settings, as though only willing to stroke the surface of this concept.
Mansfield s description throughout the narrative is intriguing and captivating, pulling the reader into
the drill hall and making them sway to the oft, melting, ravishing tune as though they themselves
could have been Leila. Moreover, her use of description allows her to create the character of the fat
man and utilise him to portray the idea that happiness [doesn t] last for ever. Because she describes
him as the fat man, who is old and wearing a coat that looked dusty with French chalk , she creates an
evident contrast between the beautiful characters she initially described. Through this imagery,
Mansfield subtly portrays Leila s fears of losing the beauty of this first ball and emphasises that in
fact, beauty doesn t last. However, Mansfield plunges the reader back in to the dance, such that the

In fact, according to M.E Mujica in his essay Why the U.S. Needs an Official Language, the U.S
government makes it easy for immigrants to live and work in their own native languages through

Education And Education In Jane Austen s Emma
The 18th to 19th century was a revolutionary time period for women. Jane Austen s Emma was
published during a time where women were campaigning for women s suffrage and for female
education. Emma is a book about a girl that vows not to fall in love, but plays matchmaker for her
friend and acquaintances. The book shows readers what 18th century England looked like for women.
Upper class women were allowed to get an education; however, the education they were taught was
vastly different than men s education. Women learned how to weave and learn French while men
learned about government, culture, philosophy from around the world, etc. However, Emma also
introduces revolutionary concepts like education for women and the radical ideas Mary Wollstonecraft
s A Vindication of Women s Right demonstrated. The beginning of the book summarizes life in
England for women during the 18th century. Women had little opportunity to develop a respectable
position in society because of their lack of intellectual proficiency. This was because of the sexualized
education present during 18th century England. The only way women could move through social
hierarchy was through marriage. An important theme of Emma is marriage and status. In the text,
Volume 1, Chapter 4, Emma states, The yeomanry are precisely the order of people with whom I feel I
can have nothing to do. A degree or two lower, and a creditable appearance might interest me; I might

Momotaro s Divine Sea Warriors Propaganda
During the time of war, nations come to rely on propaganda to help invigorate a sense of nationalism
into their people. Not only does it encourage them to unify as one, but propaganda also creates an
enemy, someone that needs to be defeated. The use of propaganda is not limited to those old enough to
understand what is happening in the world, rather it is used even upon the young and innocent who are
new to the world around them. Children become a target that can be swayed by ideals, but it must be
dealt with in a different manner. Using animation is one way to influence a younger audience,
especially by using cute animals and a figure that is well known to them, a fictional figure like
Momotaro. This familiar character for the Japanese is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

fictional medias, Momotaro and his friends are victorious, defeating the devils with strength and
words, not giving up until they have completely surrendered. It is a happy ending for Japan that is
acquired through these feats. Unlike the original text, the film does have more to add, such as showing
the lives of soldiers when they return to their home and being welcomed back, colonizing an island in
an optimistic way, giving reason to attack the devils in a silhouette scene, fighting off the devils in a
more human way, and hinting at a future in which Japan will conquer more

Essay on Society and Technological Change
1. From the Writing sections of this module: The first writing, Cuneiform, developed in
Mesopotamian cities around 3000BC. What big problem was writing created to solve?
Writing really emerged separately in three regions independently of one another. Those regions are
Central and South America, Mesopotamia, and Asia. It is generally accepted that writing (Cuneiform)
came about in Mesopotamia as a means of documenting transactions and keeping track of
merchandises. Let s say, one mark on a clay tablet intended to be one unit of something (bushel of
grains, livestock, etc.), two marks intended to be two unit, and so on. From there individuals
understood that if you could represent numbers in writing, then you could as well characterize ...

The printing press was invented in Germany by a metal smith and printer named Johannes Gutenberg.
Despite the fact that it might have taken a year to hand duplicate a book, with the Gutenberg printing
press it was probable to generate numerous duplicates a year. The discovery and creation of printing
books with movable marks a paradigm shift in the way information was transferred in Europe. The
influence of printing is equivalent to the development of writing, and the invention of the alphabet, to
the extent that its outcomes on society. Overall, the knowledge came more rapidly to the hands of the
people, in the meantime, printed books can be marketed for a fraction of the price of illuminated
manuscripts.
I believe that the printing press was very important. It was an essential requirement for Protestantism.
However, the advantage of printed books for Protestantism did stop at making Bible accessible at any
public congregation. Meanwhile books became obtainable for some village population, they could be
used to teach peasants and commoners to read and to write on a massive scale. Such fact that
Christians had finally started to read their Bible had helped the Catholic Church as well, by
compelling the Catholic Church to mend your ways and to aggressively pursue and remove deviations
from the scriptures, which the Church endured in

Apocalypse Now Madness
Throughout the IOP s presented in class, my knowledge of themes throughout the novel Heart of
Darkness has grown to a much deeper level of understanding. I have come to the realization that
Francis Ford Coppola s movie Apocalypse Now is an adaptation of Joseph Conrad s book Heart of
Darkness which is important to understand because although Apocalypse Now takes place during the
Vietnam War, and Heart of Darkness in the African Congo, we are able to see the messages of the
madness due to war and colonization in both works (Gale). I would like to bring up the role of
madness demonstrated throughout both Apocalypse Now and Heart of Darkness. Throughout
Apocalypse Now, madness is demonstrated by Captain Miller killing Captain Kurtz, shown

Lusitania Sinking
April second, President Wilson requested a declaration of war for Germany. America officially entered
World War One on April fourth, shortly after Congress passed a two hundred fifty million arms
appropriations bill intended to prepare the United States for war. However, the United States had been
preparing since February twenty second, when Congress passed a two hundred fifty million dollar
arms appropriations bill. President Woodrow Wilson announced that the United States of America was
to be neutral for World War One, which started in 1914. The American population, in majority,
favored this decision. Public opinion changed for the United States when the Lusitania, a ship headed

This was announced through several United States newspapers, some on the same page that advertised
the Lusitania trip. One of the United States trading partners at the time was Britain, and the submarine
warfare interfered with trade and caused tension to rise. German submarines were known for watching
ships movements, so the British Admiralty warned the Lusitania to be careful in the area lined out by
the unrestricted submarine warfare. They suggested that at minimum, the liner should zigzag in order
to confuse the Germans. May seventh, nineteen fifteen, the Lusitania is sunk by a German Submarine,
ending the lives of over one thousand three hundred passengers and one hundred thirty Americans.
The captain of the ocean liner had ignored the British Admiralty s warnings and recommendations,
leading up to the attack on the starboard side. The torpedo that hit the Lusitania was followed by a
larger explosion, assumed to be the ship s boilers. The ship sank less than twenty minutes later near
the sothern coast of Ireland. This was one of the main reasons that the United States entered World

The Importance Of Team Dynamics And Communication
Throughout my semester in SciTech, perhaps the most important thing that I took away from my
experience was the importance of team dynamics and communication in collaborative projects, and
this is particularly true in engineering fields, where it is absolutely essential to success, and, in my
opinion, significantly more important than the skill of knowledge of individual team members after a
certain point. Every team that I was part of during SciTech, the team for the semester challenge
especially, had numerous issues in cooperation and communication, and conflict repeatedly arises,
though we eventually learned how best to function together and were able to successfully complete the
challenge before D4 with a significant amount of time to spare, though we did have some issues with
time management in regard to the Final Report later. I have found that, although relevant skills to the
task at hand, proficiency with SolidWorks or a general aptitude for mechanical engineering for
example, organizational abilities, or other things of that nature, these are effectively useless without a
developer work ethic, a willingness to accept feedback and learn, the ability to effectively resolve
disputes, and good communication, all of which are immensely valuable in a collaborative setting. For
example, one of my group members spent more than a week on the quantitative analysis section of the
FDR, but I ended up having to redo large portions of it anyway (logbook 3/23), which

In A White Heron , the author, Sarah Orne Jewett, describes a young girl who interacts with a number
of elements that cause her to discover who she is and what she stands for. Sylvia, being only nine
years old and coming from a large family from the demanding city life , is moved to her grandmother
s remote farm where she finds herself to be comfortably isolated from the rest of the world. This, in
fact, suits her lack of social ability, and so she finds herself becoming one with nature: both the plants

It causes the reader to perhaps question their own decision making and shows the author s avoidance
of romanticism. Using romantic appeal takes away from the intentions of the story; Furthermore, this
intention being the sacrifice of love to another being and, instead, to the appeal of nature.
(Consider a better transition into the new topic. You can add transition word or add connecting
sentence to the previous paragraph) Realism is the key style in A White Heron . This element avoids a
fairy tale feeling to the story and, rather, allows it to focus on more important issues. The author shows
this in Sylvia s development of her feelings towards the sportsman and how she regards those feelings
in order to embrace individualism and knows that whatever treasures were lost to her, woodlands and
summer time, remember! the wilderness is a part of who she is (Jewett 71). This is the point where she
neglects her feelings for the hunter and, instead, realizes her own true feelings towards the countryside
and what it has offered to her and will continually provide for her own spiritual and personal needs.
Not only is realism used in Sylvia s focus on real life in the moment events, but in other minor uses
such as the setting. The story takes place within the parameters of Sylvia s clean and
comfortable...little dwelling in a middle to lower level class community that does not rebel at the
companionship of hens (Jewett 65).

We were then instructed to grab our things and begin filing onto the bus one by one. The bus ride

looked around at everyone s faces and they seemed to be thinking the same thing I was, and they all
had frowns on their faces. I then noticed these men in the distance wearing a weird brown rounded
hat. They all were broad shouldered, middle aged men and they were all standing in a line appearing
eager. These men were known as drill sergeants. They were supposed to be the meanest of the mean .
These drill sergeants were the men whose task was to shape teenagers into soldiers. The bus came to a

Bill Fontan An Internationally Reputable Composer And...
Bill Fontana is an internationally reputable composer and pioneering American sound sculptor born
April 25th 1947 in Cleveland, Ohio. Since the mid to late 70 s Fontana has used sound as a sculptural
medium, able to interact and transform our perceptions of visual and architectural spaces. Fontana is
constantly engaged with the idea that at any moment there will be something musical to hear in the
coherent sound patterns around him. His sound sculptures use the human or natural environment
surrounding as a living source of musical information, often creating multiple networks of live
listening points that relay real time acoustics to a common listening place or sculptural site. All of
Fontana s works produced over the years experiment with process of listening, recording, relocating
and representing found sound patterns. Through discussion of his works and the process undertaken in
his listening for different found sound, the technologies used in recording and relaying of these sounds
to site, and the sites themselves through his works can be seen to complicate the idea of medium
within his practice.
Links from Fontana s background can be seen to have influence upon the development of his practice.
Fontana started his musical career in the 60 s as a composition student, attending the New School for
Social Research in New York, studying both music and philosophy. It was here that Fontana became a
student of John Cage s Experimental Composition course at the school. By

How Does Truman Capote Use Syntax In The In Cold Blood
Truman Capote s In Cold Blood recounts the brutal murder of the Clutter family on November 15,
1959. However, Capote does not just detail the murder; he dramatizes it by shifting the focus from the
victims to the culprits. Through his use of syntax, diction and appeals to pathos, Capote achieves his
purpose of evoking sympathy in his audience for murderers Richard Dick Hickock and Perry Smith.
The way in which Truman Capote utilizes syntax throughout the novel gives insight to the true
character of the murderers. Following the murder, Perry Smith recalls, certain sounds returned a silver
dollar rolling across a floor, boot steps on hardwood stairs, and the sounds of breathing, the gasps, the
hysterical inhalations of a man with a severed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Capote excellently creates sympathy through his use of syntax by incorporating subordinate elements
into his writing, evolving his pace from smooth to staccato, and using syntax styles that mimic the
character s individuality. He also made crucial choices in vocabulary and grammar that contributed to
the sincerity and intent of the character at hand. Lastly, Capote stresses the loving home lives of the
murderers, evoking a sense of warm heartedness in the reader. His use of diction, syntax and appeals
to pathos in order to create sympathy for the murderers is effective in that it provoked the audience to
question the true motives of the murderers. Capote depicts the cold blooded culprits, Perry more so
than Dick, as honorable men; this evokes sympathy in the reader, for the loving, caring, respectful
nature both Dick and Perry exude would not be found in a brutal murderer. This leaves the reader is
disbelief, provoking him to then question the good and evil within himself, wondering if he too will
suffer a similar fate to that of Dick Hickock and Perry

Consumerism Speech
How many times would you say you thought, I need that bag, or those shoes because everyone else

things you like or the types of food you don t eat. Is it possible that you could, unwillingly and
unintentionally be superficial? Good morning everyone and welcome to the mindset of modern
society, materialistic and consumer driven. Today, the desirable consumerist lifestyle outweighs the
instinct of compassion, which only proves my point that the inherent values of consumerism force you

Twice? Three times? Does it end? The colloquialisms in the poem only further denote the inextricable
link of consumerism to relationships. When it is linked this closely to people, the very nature of their
interaction is shaped into a shallow never ending cycle of meaningless expression. The falseness of
communication today is directly linked to the consumerist lifestyle and has been increasing since the
late 1880 s. Clancy of the Overflow not only depicts the city as a giant symbol of materialism, but also
portrays the townsfolk as having eager eyes and greedy stating that they have no time to grow, they
have no time to waste . This statement is indicative of the busyness of people s lives and negligence of
other humans. Similarly, when Paterson wrote As they shoulder one another in their rush and nervous
haste he shows the carelessness of people affected by consumerism in this era, which has only
increased from the time of Paterson to the time of Dawe, and furthermore to present day. What can we
do to change? What can we do to stop this perpetual chain of meaningless things, people and
interactions? It begins with the consumer mindset; this is what influences our identity, and our
communications. When consumerism becomes something we understand and acknowledge we can
then bring about change in relationships and eventually

Step 6 Enter the clock rate command on R1.
You can specify any valid clocking speed. Use the ? to find the valid rates. Here, we used 64000 bps.

Unlike the LAN interface, fully configuring the WAN interface is not always enough to have the route
entered in the routing table even if your cable connections are correct. The other side of the WAN link
must also be configured. /u gt;
Step 8 If possible, establish a separate terminal session with R2. Click on R2

others think of us then include these imaginings in our self concept. In the movie Shrek , the main

Events that are reframed which causes devaluation of self worth, that changes a person s perspective.
Shrek reflects reframing in the movie several times. In one scene in a conversation with Donkey,
Shrek describes how people runaway from him when they see him which results in isolating himself.
Another scene, when he thought Princess Fiona did hat him because he was ugly. He was sad to think
that everyone used to justify him with his ugly face but none could feel his heart. Shrek was always
trying to hide himself away from the society and he was sick and tired of the social life because
society was unable to judge him in the right way. As a result form the beginning the did not wanted

that we all need to receive and give love, support, warmth, and intimacy. In the perspective of the
Donkey, it can be seen when he wanted to be the friend of Shrek and in another scene the Donkey was
cooping with the Dragon as a result of his loneliness and need for affection. In Shrek s perspective, his
need for affection was oftten suppressed, but at the end his need for affection drives him to tell
princess Feona how he feels about her.

1.1 Background
Knowledge Discovery and Data Mining are rapidly evolving areas of research that are at intersection
of multiple application areas and approaches. Today no field either it belongs to computer or not,
knowledge discovery is required. The loss prediction, cost estimation, identification of market moves
are the common application areas where knowledge discovery is essential. Knowledge discovery is

1.1.2 Main reason for growth of Data Mining Research
The amount of digital data has been exploding during the past decade, while the number of scientists,
engineers and analysts available to analyze the data has been static. To bridge this gap requires the
solutions of fundamentally new research problems, which can be grouped into the following broad
challenges: (a) developing algorithms and system to mine large, massive and high dimensional
datasets, (b) developing algorithms and system to mine new types of data, (c) developing algorithms,
protocols and other infrastructure to mine distributed data, (d) improving the ease of use of data
mining systems, and (e) developing appropriate privacy and security models for data mining. In order
to respond to these challenges, we require applied, multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary research in
data mining and knowledge discovery (Soman et al., 2008).
1.1.3 Introduction to Data Mining
Data Mining is considered as the effective knowledge process to perform the data value analysis so
that effective data discovery over the application data can be performed. These kind of da mining
operations are defined a low level

  • 2. Ways in Which Shakespeare Entertains His Audience in... Ways in Which Shakespeare Entertains His Audience in Twelfth Night Shakespeare entertains his audience in many different ways, from the complications of the main characters love to the overtly comic schemes of others. The main method which Shakespeare uses to entertain his audience in this particular play is that of two plots, one main and one a sub plot, interlocking with each other throughout. One of the main themes throughout Twelfth Night is that of confusion and mistaken identity. This is illustrated mainly by Viola as Cesario, confusing all of the characters into thinking that she is a man. The only people that know of her true identity (apart from the sea captain at the very beginning) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He immediately takes the letters M.O.A.I to signify him, since all the letters are in his name. It would bow to me, for every one of these letters are in my name! It is not made clear what these letters were intended to mean, but what is clear to the audience is how quickly Malvolio centres them on himself. The letter is signed The fortunate unhappy . This oxymoron used by Shakespeare adds an extra touch of comedy to the scene as it is clear to everyone except for Malvolio that the letter is a fake. It is scenes like this which ensure that Malvolio is disliked by the audience, making it entertaining when other characters such as Mary play tricks on him: Observe him, for the love of mockery, for I know this letter will make a complete idiot of him Malvolio, who is a servant and therefore lower in the hierarchy than Olivia or her uncle, often looks down on Sir Toby as if he is better than him. Taylor Swift And Harris Research Paper On Tuesday night, the American singer songwriter and actress behind the hit song Bad Blood Taylor Swift and Calvin Harris (the Scottish DJ, singer, record producer and remixer) managed to be in the same town, as the Hollywood couple enjoying their dinner together. But, instead of settling for a table for two, Taylor Swift and Calvin Harris appeared to have welcomed another celebrity couple into the mix. Photographers spotted the Shake It Off singer exiting the Palm Restaurant in Beverly Hills Tuesday night donning black skinny jeans and a leather jacket. And just minutes later, the English model and actress who is famous for her work for lingerie retailer Victoria s Secret Rosie Huntington Whiteley and boyfriend Jason Statham (English actor, former diver and martial artist) walked out holding hands. ... How Does Darl Lose His Mother s Death Jake Barns, in Ernest Hemingway s The Sun Also Rises, and Darl Bundren in William Faulkner s As I Lay Dying both have a certain desire, throughout their respective novels, for the affection and attention of a particular woman in their lives. For Jake it is Brett, and for Darl it is his own mother, Addie Bundren. However due to unfortunate occurrences in their lives, they can no longer gain that love and affection. Daryl and Jake both seek for the attraction of a woman in their life but due to circumstances they cannot have that affection and both authors both present this idea of having an increased desire for this you can no longer have through different complexities of thought and sentence structure. The other characters that narrate the story tell about the comparison between Darl and his mother and believes that ...he was the only one of them that had his mothers nature, had any natural affection (Faulkner, 15). The other characters see him as being the most similar to the mother and the person who showed the most affection for his mother, but his mother continued to neglect him. • 5. Argumentative Essay On Buy Nothing Day The rise of industrialization and manufacturing that began in the eighteenth century has drastically changed the lifestyles of the world. No longer do citizens find, make, or trade for everything they need at home and in their local communities, but instead they rely on national and global commerce to provide for them. This shift in production is the basis for the annual Buy Nothing Day, which attempts to reverse the ill effects of gross consumerism and spread awareness of the issues in our current lifestyles. While many critics would point to the fact that one day will provide little to no discernable impact on the problems faced, Buy Nothing Day will produce greater effects through the awareness it provides than any actual deeds committed on that singular day. Widespread consumerism and the materialistic society we live in has many detrimental effects on the environment. The factories, vehicles, and resources used to sustain our goods based economy contribute greatly to global climate change, pollution, and deforestation. Your coffee beans from Starbucks are harvested from dying out forests in South America, among other places, and shipped to the location nearest you by using excessive quantities of non renewable fossil fuels, all so you can receive your morning pick me up. While refraining from purchasing that coffee on Buy Nothing Day alone will not provide an immediate solution to the issue at hand, the ideals preached by the yearly event can make the participants ... • 6. A Comparison of The Signalman and The Red Room Essay A Comparison of The Signalman and The Red Room The Signalman and the Red Room are well known examples of nineteenth century ghost stories. Write a critical comparison of these two stories. What do you consider to be their strengths and which of the stories do you enjoy the most. Charles Dickens and H.G. Wells were both living during the Victorian era. The many radical changes in this era tainted their writing. Both Wells and Dickens were against the social situation at the time, this is evident in their writings. Although Britain had many colonies, wealth was not circulating amongst its people. This made life unbearable for some. Dickens and Wells spoke out against this and were concerned ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the Red Room the visitor is travelling through a corridor and then into a room. The corridor is shadowy and the visitor has to move his candle from side to side he does this to see what is before him on either side, before actually moving on. This creates an atmosphere of tension even before he reaches the Red Room. When the visitor enters the red room he notices a shadow in the alcove , this alarms him and he does not feel quite alone with the presence of the shadow. To reassure myself he places candles in various places to block all shadows from forming. In The Signalman Dickens uses large sentences so the result is therefore trying to create an effect of ongoing images in the mind of the visitor and in the setting of the place. Dickens also uses long sentences in The Signalman, when he is describing the setting. This is because he is trying to create an image in the readers mind; this is achieved by long descriptions. An array of powerful adjectives is utilized by Wells, such as grand staircase , great window this exaggerates the visitor s journey down the corridor. The castle seems gargantuan in size and seems to overwhelm the visitor. Also there is not much dialogue in The Red Room. This is mainly because the visitor is on his own with his mind. ... • 7. When Bad Things Happen To Good People Analysis Introduction In the novel, When Bad Things Happen to Good People by Harold. S Kushner the theme of suffering was explored. Kushner attended Columbia University obtaining a BA and an MA. He was then ordained a Rabbi in 1960 and lead a very religious life. Kushner s young son was diagnosed with progeria, which causes his body to age quickly. He died when he was fourteen and this caused Kushner to question his faith. He decided to write this novel because of this; wanting to help others deal with their suffering and strengthen their faith. The religious and self help tone of the novel helped to convey his message very well. Objective Kushner begins by discussing simple answers that people have thought of to explain why bad things happen to good people. Next, he takes a closer look at four main causes as to why people suffer. First, sometimes there is no reason. The world is random and many things do not follow any particular order. This means that if someone gets hurt, they may have been in the wrong place at the wrong time. Kushner explains that God does not create this chaos, but tries to make order out of it. Second, the laws of nature do not make exceptions for nice people. If a rock is going to fall, it is going to fall whether someone is under it or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By suffering ourselves, we are able to have a better understanding the suffering of others. Kushner attributes much of his characteristics as a person to all of the times he has suffered. When considering his son s suffering and how that affected him he said, I am a more sensitive person, ... a more sympathetic counselor because of Aaron s life and death than I would ever have been without it (Kushner 133). If he had not suffered, he would not understand suffering; it is as simple as that. Having this connection with all of humanity has helped Kushner become not only a better Rabbi but a better and more merciful ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Survive in the Lord of the Flies by William Golding Essay When humans are pushed to survive, they are willing to do anything to do so. In the novel Lord of the Flies by William Golding, a group of boys are stranded on an island and have to survive, however as the story progresses the boys become more barbaric and savage like. Even though there are good people in this world, there will always be evil. Why does evil exist? Golding s belief of human nature is that humans are naturally evil and savage. However, law and civility keep humans from turning into this natural state of evil and Golding uses the development of Jack to show how savagery is created. Golding uses other characters to show Jack s regression to savagery and one of these characters is Ralph. Ralph brings out Jack s inner savagery ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The setting of the novel takes place on a peaceful, life giving island. However, once the boys came to the island, the island slowly became consumed in darkness as the boys became more savage like. Towards the beginning of the novel, Golding emphasizes the light hearted mood by describing the brightness and beauty of the island, The palms that stood made a green roof, covered on the underside with a quivering tangle of the reflection from the lagoon. (pg 12). Just like the island, the boys start out as peaceful boys when they first arrive on the island. However, as the boys became more corrupted by savagery, so does the island and Golding effectively uses this in the scene where the boys lose control of themselves and in their bloodlust, kill Simon, The clouds opened and let down the rain like a waterfall... (pg 153). Golding s use of the setting shows the evil in humans by giving the reader a mental illustration of the progression of the island turning from paradise to despair, much like how Jack starts out as a normal boy, but progresses into savagery. The conch is one of the most important symbols in the novel because it represents civility on the island and without civility, the whole island would fall into chaos. Golding uses the conch to show what would happen to humans if law and order were removed from humanity. Rules and order are the only things that are keeping the boys from falling into savagery. Jack is one of the first ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The question is, will Jason Momoa s character also be losing the very same arm? If Jason Momoa s appearance holds any clue, it may just follow Peter David s version of the character. Peter David, the writer of the Time and Tide series, gives the super hero a rugged look. He forgoes the clean cut appearance and gives him a long beard and rugged facial features. In the comics and the TV animation series, Aquaman loses his left hand to several different stories. One, he tries to save his mother and son from destruction while he is cuffed somewhere else. The experience within the session in class was sufficient enough to help deal with a particular problem I had been going through and wanted to search for a possible resolution or change towards the problem for the near future. Though I did not know the helper personally, I had known the helper through another sports team, and being friends within the class helped with being comfortable talking about an issue within my own respective sport. Going into the session being both athletes at the University of Maryland was comforting due to understanding where we both were coming from. The helper concentrated working through each of the different skills through the 3 stage model learned throughout the entire semester to help with my particular issue within the training staff. I noticed her help and focus of wanting to guide through my initial emotions of the situation, moving towards providing advice and insight about the problem, and lastly providing possible recommendations and solutions towards confronting the issue at hand. It felt good and promising receiving possible solutions on how to work through the problem for any future issues relating towards the initial problem. • 11. Ballet Slippers Research Paper Ballet Slippers Culture is the overview of how a group of people live, their beliefs and moral system, and basic things such as how they dress. Culture is subjective, no two people see it the same way. I may see Scottish culture as a group of people who wear kilts and play bagpipes, but someone else may think it involves red hair and haggis. Culture is often made up of stereotypes, for example: someone may believe that Canadian culture is igloos, pet polar bears, apologizing, and saying eh after every word. In reality Canadian culture from the perspective of someone living in it includes: different religions, holding the door for someone behind you, and wearing a tuque in winter. There are multiple layers of culture, the blanket term; usually referring to the country or main region in which you live. Culture can then be broken down into many sub categories such as: ... Television shows such as So You Think You Can Dance , and America s Got Talent showcase many ballet dancers, and other dancers in mainstream media. Ballet is often considered boring because of it s classical nature, but as boring or old fashioned it may seem it often is the basics for most styles of dance. • 12. The Experimental Life Analysis The essays The Strenuous Life by Theodore Roosevelt and The Experimental Life by Randolph Bourne present conflicting views on the ideal lifestyle. Roosevelt suggests that the only acceptable life is one that involves progress through struggle and perseverance while Bourne claims that because life is filled with uncertainty it is best to prepare and embrace it. While Roosevelt s and Bourne s arguments greatly differ from each other, both offer valid pieces of advice on how to live a more ideal lifestyle. London does this when contrasting the primitive characteristics of Jees Uck to the advanced nature of Neil Bonner. London then goes on to describe Jees Uck as stunned and in awe of America s advanced civilization. Homosexuals have been fighting for equality over six decades in America history. The situation of gay equality has slowly simmered down. Homosexuals are still face with certain issues. One of these issues is gay couples do not have the right to adopt children in certain states. Adoption should be legalized for gay couples; if they meet the requirements of being a great parent deserves to have that privilege. Here are some of the reasons why homosexual s couples are great parents. One reason is homosexual couples choose to have kids. Unlike heterosexuals couples who typically have uh oh babies. And how does this enhance or confuse or complicate the effect of the story? Short fiction can be seen as a literary medium through which the writer concisely creates a story that is almost as fleeting in its detail, as it is in its length of words. Imagery can be used in varying manners depending on what the writer is trying to achieve. Jane Austen s Emma was published during a time where women were campaigning for women s suffrage and for female education. Emma is a book about a girl that vows not to fall in love, but plays matchmaker for her friend and acquaintances. The book shows readers what 18th century England looked like for women. Upper class women were allowed to get an education; however, the education they were taught was vastly different than men s education. Women learned how to weave and learn French while men learned about government, culture, philosophy from around the world, etc. However, Emma also introduces revolutionary concepts like education for women and the radical ideas Mary Wollstonecraft s A Vindication of Women s Right demonstrated. The beginning of the book summarizes life in England for women during the 18th century. Women had little opportunity to develop a respectable position in society because of their lack of intellectual proficiency. This was because of the sexualized education present during 18th century England. The only way women could move through social hierarchy was through marriage. An important theme of Emma is marriage and status. In the text, Volume 1, Chapter 4, Emma states, The yeomanry are precisely the order of people with whom I feel I can have nothing to do. The Importance Of Team Dynamics And Communication Throughout my semester in SciTech, perhaps the most important thing that I took away from my experience was the importance of team dynamics and communication in collaborative projects, and this is particularly true in engineering fields, where it is absolutely essential to success, and, in my opinion, significantly more important than the skill of knowledge of individual team members after a certain point. Every team that I was part of during SciTech, the team for the semester challenge especially, had numerous issues in cooperation and communication, and conflict repeatedly arises, though we eventually learned how best to function together and were able to successfully complete the challenge before D4 with a significant amount of time to spare, though we did have some issues with time management in regard to the Final Report later. I have found that, although relevant skills to the task at hand, proficiency with SolidWorks or a general aptitude for mechanical engineering for example, organizational abilities, or other things of that nature, these are effectively useless without a developer work ethic, a willingness to accept feedback and learn, the ability to effectively resolve disputes, and good communication, all of which are immensely valuable in a collaborative setting. Knowledge Discovery And Data Mining CHAPTER 1 INTRODUCTION ________________________________________ 1.1 Background Knowledge Discovery and Data Mining are rapidly evolving areas of research that are at intersection of multiple application areas and approaches. Today no field either it belongs to computer or not, knowledge discovery is required. The loss prediction, cost estimation, identification of market moves are the common application areas where knowledge discovery is essential. Knowledge discovery is not an individual process, instead it is the combination of various session data operations that are applied in a series to extract some valuable information from dataset. Example of such data mining tools are SPSS, Clementine, SAS E Miner, Salford CART etc., (commercial software) and YALE, WEKA etc. (free software). 1.1.2 Main reason for growth of Data Mining Research The amount of digital data has been exploding during the past decade, while the number of scientists, engineers and analysts available to analyze the data has been static. To bridge this gap requires the solutions of fundamentally new research problems, which can be grouped into the following broad challenges: (a) developing algorithms and system to mine large, massive and high dimensional datasets, (b) developing algorithms and system to mine new types of data, (c) developing algorithms, protocols and other infrastructure to mine distributed data, (d) improving the ease of use of data mining systems, and (e) developing appropriate privacy and security models for data mining. In order to respond to these challenges, we require applied, multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary research in data mining and knowledge discovery (Soman et al., 2008). 1.1.3 Introduction to Data Mining Data Mining is considered as the effective knowledge process to perform the data value analysis so that effective data discovery over the application data can be performed.
