The Norman Conquest of England took place in 1066 when William the Conqueror, Duke of Normandy, led an army of French, Breton, and Norman soldiers across the English Channel and defeated the Anglo-Saxon King Harold at the Battle of Hastings on October 14th. This established William as the first Norman King of England and marked the end of Anglo-Saxon rule.

The capital city of the United Kingdom is London, which is also the most populous region and urban zone, so I’d like to present it as one of the most beautiful cities in the world, with its sightseeing, places that have historical significance, places that everyone should see at least once in their life. Moreover, I rebound the British culture, its Literature, Music, Film industry, Sport, and also British traditions and holidays, and its national symbols.

Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

It took place on 11th century in England.
An army of French, Bretons and Normans
led by William II of Normandy (William
I of England) entered England from the
southern coast.
After this, William, took the nickname of
“William the Conqueror”

Conqueror
Harold Godwinson was the last Anglo-
Saxon king of England.
He died fighting the Norman invaders led
by William the Conqueror.
William the Conqueror was the first
Norman king in England.

6. Battle of Hastings
It was the confrontation between the troops of the last
Anglo-Saxon king of England, Harold the Saxon, and the
army of the Duke of Normandy, William the Bastard.
The Battle took place at Hastings on 14 October 1066.
Harold only had 5,000 soldiers in front of 15,000
Norman soldiers.
7. Bayeux Tapestry
It is a tapestry which portrayed the Battle of Hastings, in
the eleventh century of almost 70 meters long that tells,
through a succession of images, before the Norman conquest
of England, culminating in the Battle of Hastings facts.
8. It’s a manuscript record of the survey of
England and Scotland. It was written in Latin
and ordered by William the Conqueror in
1086. This book is held at The National
Archives at Kew, London. It’s available in The
Open Doomsday Site since 2011.

northern England. He destroyed every
village that presented opposition to him.
