Essay on Loss In One Art by Elizabeth Bishop
One Art by Elizabeth Bishop is a poem that explores loss in comparison to an art; however, this art is
not one to be envied or sought after to succeed at. Everyone has experienced loss as the art of losing is
presented as inevitably simple to master. The speaker s attitude toward loss becomes gradually more
serious as the poem progresses.
Keys, having virtually no reason for emotional attachment, are mentioned in line 5 with a tone of
acceptance that, Yes, it is okay to lose keys. Although vital to the penetration of a lock, keys are such a
generic object that they can be easily replaced and, aside from the inability to open that door, will not
be missed for long. Lines 2 and 3 state that so many things seem filled with the intent ... Show more

At this point in the poem, the speaker s attitude toward loss is rather blasé due to the fact that the items
she has misplaced holds no emotional attachment and can be replaced.
As the poem progresses, the misplaced or forgotten items become concepts such as names and ideas,
and therefore carry more of an impact. For example, forgetting someone s name, however not
uncommon, can be associated with feelings of embarrassment from the forgettor, and annoyance from
the forgotten when they discover that they were not important enough to be remembered. The speaker
simply shrugs off these losses because None of [them] will bring disaster, as mentioned in line 9.
Emotion, often associated with memories is introduced in line 10 when the speaker announces, I lost
my mother s watch. An item such as a mother s watch holds sentimental value, unlike the previously
mentioned keys; however, the speaker repeats, I miss them, but it wasn t a disaster, (line 15) indicating
that the watch was merely a material possession crowded with memories. At this point, the reader
recognizes the feeling of missing something associated with greater losses of objects and ideas the
speaker regards with more emotional attachment.
In line 16, the speaker s emotional attitude toward loss changes as it becomes evident that the speaker
has lost a person, yet they still view loss as a part of

Analysis Of Surviving Death By Melissa Wlostoski
Surviving Death by Melissa Wlostoski Human beings can be push to their limits when certain
situations cross their path. Sometimes they survive situations which should have killed them by luck
or their own will to survive. I saw a movie called the Revenant with Leonardo DiCaprio. The movie is

Research Paper On Swarm Intelligence
Abstract Swarm intelligence (SI) is the collective behaviour of decentralized, self organized systems,
natural or artificial. The concept is employed in work on artificial intelligence. The expression was
introduced by Gerardo Beni and Jing Wang in 1989, in the context of cellular robotic systems. The
project proposes a swarm intelligence based procedure to detect critical conditions of a patient,
affected by a specific disease, at an early stage in absence of clinician. The procedure is to be
integrated inside a remote health care system for patients at home, where some physiological
parameters related to a specific disease are being monitored. A significant variation in the monitored
parameters can lead the patient to a critical state, thus ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The ABC algorithm has three phases: employed bee, onlooker bee and scout bee. In the employed bee
and the onlooker bee phases, bees exploit the sources by local searches in the neighbourhood of the
solutions selected based on deterministic selection in the employed bee phase and the probabilistic
selection in the onlooker bee phase. In the scout bee phase which is an analogy of abandoning
exhausted food sources in the foraging process, solutions that are not beneficial anymore for search
progress are abandoned, and new solutions are inserted instead of them to explore new regions in the
search space. The algorithm has a well balanced exploration and exploitation

Analyzing The Origins Of The Dutch Armies And Its First...
Countermarching is the military maneuver in which rows of infantry take turns advancing and firing
upon an enemy, only to be replaced by the rank behind them which had already reloaded. The
maneuver would allow ranks of infantry to establish a constant base of fire while involving a greater
proportion of rifle bearing soldiers at a single given time. The deadly practice saw its first applications
in late 16th century Japan and later developed independently in the midst of the Dutch Revolt in
Western Europe. Western European countermarch stemmed from humble and classical origins, but
would grow to be the status quo used by every major military power in Europe by the end of the 17th
century. To fully grasp the importance of this development, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

During the siege of Middleburg in 1572, the Spanish implemented water defenses that prevented any
the effective use of siege equipment by the Dutch. The Spanish also exploited their competitive
advantage in open combat away from Dutch waterways, and in open combat crushed Louis of Nassau
s army at Mook on the 14th of April 1574. Fighting between the army of Flanders, which had just
under 100,000 men by the end of 1580. The combination of Dutch Naval superiority and the Army of
Flanders superiority on the ground meant that no meaningful victory could be achieved. The wars
remained costly for both governments with the Spanish defaulting on war debts in 1575, but with the
dutch unable to exploit their sudden advantage because of a tired and ineffective military. In order to
finally reunite the low countries, newly appointed Maurice of Nassau would have to embark on a
series of military reforms that could see influence expanded into the landlocked south, away from the
comfort of the ocean and waterways of the north.
Early military reformers had a great deal of difficulty reforming the status quo, as military generals
and members of the intellectual community demonstrated a great deal of inertia. As military thinkers
and philosophers began to explore newly translated ancient texts, they ran into a great deal of
intellectual backlash. In a particularly potent example, Thomas Digges, an Englishmen who served in
the armies of the Dutch republic, writes in his

Panera Bread Strengths
Panera Bread Company has a variety of strengths that make it stand out from its competitors in the
market. One of these strengths that make Panera Bread Company stand out from its competitors is that
it has strong brand image across the whole entire country. This strength is the foundation for many
successes Panera Bread Company has achieved such as having very good financials in all regions of
the country. The reason this strength is so important for Panera is that it allows for its potential
customer no mater where he or she is in the country to know exactly what a great experience they will

Although Panera has strong customer loyalty it is struggling to add additional customers to it clientele.
This weakness has dramatic impact on the revenue that Panera Bread Company is able to earn. It is
one of the reasons that the company cannot take the next step in the growth process. The struggle for
Panera to acquire new customer is problem the greatest weakness of the company because if they start
losing customers they will be in a large amount of financial trouble more so than a company who is
able to acquire new customers.
Opportunities:
The Biggest opportunity for Panera Bread Company is to open it doors in foreign market such as Asia
and Europe. If Panera can successful go global it will be able to fix many of its weakness. This is
because most of them deal with not getting new customers, stagnate growth of the business model and
Panera Bread Company hitting some sort of a ceiling that is stopping its growth. By going global this
fixes many of these problems.
Another opportunity Panera Bread Company can take advantage of is the culture of the people to
wanting to eat more healthy items. Panera Bread Company can take advantage of this by creating an
advertising campaign around its already healthy food items and low calorie section of its menu. If this
opportunity is taken advantage of it could provide Panera Bread Company with a method of acquiring

Hamlet Madness In Hamlet
When reading Shakespeare s Hamlet as a class, the first thing that most teachers or professors point
out is the argument/idea of sanity, specifically Hamlet s sanity. I believe that Hamlet is, in fact,
feigning his madness. What I do not know is if I believe this because it is what I was taught or if I
came up with the idea myself based on my own interpretation. When I was taught Hamlet there was
no argument it was just fact that he was faking his madness. Because of my confusion, I came to find
that it may be interesting take out of the play any moment in which Hamlet makes the audience aware
that he is only pretending that to be mad. I want to take out any proof that his madness isn t real. The
argument for legitimate madness is always ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In choosing to believe the ghost, he decides that he must seek revenge on his father s murderer and
will allow nothing to get in his way. From this moment on, Hamlet heads in a downward spiral and we
can track him losing his mind if we just erase the lines that express his plan to act like his is doing so.
These cuts begin from the moment when Hamlet says that he is going To put an antic disposition on
(Act I Scene V). Taking out this one line could change the play entirely. Most of the lines in which he
speaks of this part of his revenge plot following his original declaration of it are moments in which he
is attempting to explain that he isn t actually insane. By removing this one, small line we effectively
make it easier to argue that his madness isn t a part of his plot but it is an actual part of him. Without
having concrete proof before the madness starts that it is, in fact, planned how are we as an audience
supposed to trust him? Removing this line makes it so that the readers, and the other characters, are
entirely unaware of this part of his plan. He acts mad for a while before he mentions again that this is
his plan. The next time Hamlet discloses the part of his revenge plan is when he is speaking to
Guildenstern in Act II Scene II, and tells him that his uncle father and aunt mother are deceived and
then clarifies

Misreading Scripture With Western Eyes
While reading the novel Misreading Scripture with Western Eyes one might ve found the same
following points and given a summary about the misreading s and hidden points in the bible.
Misreading Scripture with Western Eyes gives the reader well enlightened concepts to the bible that
before might have been obscured, but now have been broken down into terms that people from the
western part of the world can comprehend such as ice bergs. The author uses many a resemblances to
the bible and how other supportive countries of our world see it inversely. The author uses these
metaphors to build an understanding for the reader so that they can make comparisons themselves.
The author uses the metaphor about the iceberg to assemble the book into three different sections. The
tip (being the part of the world that we all see and have come to recognize misconceptions. below the
surface (the part of which only certain liberally and religiously educated beings notice, and the
massive section of the iceberg that is completely unseen to people. In the beginning chapter the author
speaks frequently of moral values that society in the past saw and assumed was correct because they
were the first to know the meaning. Moving forward through out the chapter however the author
explains that since the bible was written throughout a different period and setting, we people of the
future have come to twist and misread these moral values.
The next piece of the novel discusses on how society

Mccandless, Mccandless And Thoreau
Similar to Thoreau, McCandless does not associate being in solitude to being lonesome. Throughout
his journey, McCandless avoids forming close bonds with others because it distracts him from his
final goal of independence and transcendentalism. This lack of intimate relationships frees
McCandless as seen through the journal entry he wrote before walking into the Alaskan Bush. He
writes proudly that for two years he has roamed with no company and no comforts. He calls it,
Ultimate freedom (Krakauer 163). The fact that he considers it more of a freedom than a loss to live in
solidarity shows that like Thoreau, McCandless does not feel lonely when he is alone. According to
his sister, Carine, even when he was younger, he was fine with being alone. She said that although he
had friends, he could easily entertain himself and never seemed lonely when he was alone. Another
instance in which McCandless s dissociation of solitude and loneliness shows is in a letter he writes to
Ron Franz, a man he met near Salton City. In this letter, he tells Franz to step outside his comfort zone
and live a more adventurous life. Towards the end of the letter, he states, You are wrong if you think
Joy emanates only or principally from human relationships, (Krakauer 57). This approach is how he is
not lonely in solitude; he is capable of finding joy in things other than human contact.
Thoreau lived as a minimalist to strip away the distractions of life. He wanted to live in the woods,

The Seafarer And The Wife s Lament
The peril of exile was a major source of anxiety in Anglo Saxon society. The lyrics of The Seafarer,

theme of exile in the Anglo Saxon society. The peril of exile can be an eerie topic, because it is

Who Is Greit s Father Figure
When an object we desire becomes unavailable to us, we often search for a replacement. It economics
this is called a substitute good, in a relationship this is called a rebound, and in Freudian terms, this is
called displacement. In the movie, girl with a pearl earring, Greit creates a chain of displacement,
when she displaces her fathers love onto Vermeer and then her attraction to Vermeer onto Pieter. The
initiating event in TGWTPE is the moment Greit s father goes blind due to a work accident. Greit s

Being of age often means that a girl is experiencing changes both physically and mentally. Physically
speaking she is growing more and filling out her shape as a woman. Mentally speaking, Greit is
experiencing sexual urges and frustrations. Vermeer and Greit often engaged with eachother in
sexually tense moments. The most notable moments are when Vermeer and Greit just stare at
eachother deeply, not moving, challenging the other to make a move. There are many occasions where
they stare at each other intensely. When Greit is making paints for Vermeer and he grabs her hands
under his, moving them together, she stares directly at him, unwavering. The physical contact, on top
of the very suggestive movement of the hands topped with the deep stares resonates sexual tension.
When Greit is taking off her hair wrap, letting her hair fall, to find Vermeer staring her down only to
stare at her back is an even stronger example. He s seen her hair in this scene, a symbol of her
sexuality, of her femininity, yet when she notices him staring she doesn t rush to hide it, she stands
there and stares back as if to ask, what now. They both acknowledge and are aware of the tension.
Biologically there is nothing holding them back from each other however; the biggest hurdle of their
relationship is social status. Vermeer is not only a married man, but on a different social level than
Greit. His status as a painter of a

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Cooperatives
14.31 Workers co operatives
In large public companies, management and ownership are separate. By contrast, in workers co
operatives employees will have contributed towards the capital of the organisation and may elect
managers at annual meetings.
The advantage of workers co operatives is that all workers can take part in discussions regarding their
firm. Therefore, there is a strong incentive for workers to work harder and increase profitability if they
anticipate receiving higher dividends from their shares.
Another advantage is that taking part in the decision‐making process helps to motivate workers.
However if the co operative becomes bankrupt then the workers will lose both their jobs and the value
of their shares. It may then be difficult to persuade employees to put more capital into the business.
The objectives of co operatives are usually to provide goods and services to consumers at reasonable
prices and to pay fair wages to the workers.
Whilst there have been workers co operatives for a considerable time there has been a noticeable

Plot Structure Of The Kite Runner
Khaled Hosseini and Arundhati Roy s novels are devised in such a way that the plot structures are
exact parallels. Thus, they can successfully use the same plot structure to portray two divergent effects
of losing one s innocence in a traumatic event. The plot structure of the novels also reinforces the idea
of innocence. The plot structure for The Kite Runner is chronological, but the plot structure for The
God of Small Things is circular. In his novel, The Kite Runner, Hosseini begins to dive into the
distinction by beginning the novel with introducing the main character, Amir, and his friend Hassan.
Hosseini makes sure to note that the two boys are from different religious clans, and so their
friendship is looked down upon. Hosseini ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The God of Small Things is out of sequence because the novel is jumbled. As a result, Arundhati Roy
uses this to reinforce the idea of a circular plot structure, where the characters are unable to break free
of the cycle. Estha tried to protect Rahel from losing her innocence once the Orangedrink Lemondrink
man molested him, but he was unable to, and as a result the twins end up having sex at the end of the
novel. However, in his novel The Kite Runner Khaled Hosseini portrays Amir as unable to save
Hassan from the rape that takes place, and instead shows Amir protecting Sohrab, Hassan s son, who
was also raped by the same person.
CONCLUSION: In both novels, Arundhati Roy and Khaled Hosseini took careful consideration when
conveying their message to readers. They both utilize similar story plots, plot structure, and symbols
that represent similar meanings. As an author, Khaled Hosseini clearly describes Amir s journey and
his reactions to specific events throughout the novel, crafting his responses in clever ways. Arundhati
Roy also employs the same technique in her novel, choosing to use a similar plot structure, but having
the characters react differently to the scenarios they face. Amir, for example, chooses to take control of
his future not allowing his past to affect his decisions, and thus Hosseini portrays him as hopeful for
the future. However, Roy, chooses to end the novel with the twins, Rahel and Estha,

Fast food has turned into a diet to millions of people across the world. This is because of the fact that
the food is readily available and provided in many business premises along the streets. As one of those
individuals who have been addicted to fast food consumption, I have realized the need to change the
behavior for the better. There are various benefits of reducing the intake of fast food, strategies and
challenges of changing my behavior which will be analyzed. There are three benefits I will enjoy by
reducing the fast food consumption. First, the change of the behavior will assist in improving my
immunity. This is because of the fact that keeping a healthy and balanced diet is an essential aspect
when it comes to strengthening the immunity. The second benefit of changing the behavior is that it
reduces the chances of suffering from health problems such as obesity. Consumption of fast food for a
long period of time exposes me to the risk of obesity. The third benefit of changing the behavior is that
it will lead to my being in good spirits. Fast food is known as one of contributing factors of the
number of depressed young people. This is due to the fact that fast food leads into the alteration of
hormonal system which is responsible of controlling mood and behavior swing. Eventually, it may
lead me to suffer from high blood pressure. By getting rid of the bad habit, I am likely to benefit from
reduced chances of suffering from such health issues. Moreover, there

A Feminist Reading of Buffy the Vampire Slayer Essay
A Feminist Reading of Buffy the Vampire Slayer
In numerous interviews, creator Joss Whedon has explained that the inspiration for Buffy the Vampire
Slayer struck while he was watching horror films and TV shows in which pretty women run away
from or get killed by monsters in alleyways. Whedon claims he wanted to give this paradigmatic girl
victim a new role: that of the monster killing hero. Whedon s explanation of his own artistic
inspiration reveals at least two things about him as a film viewer and maker: first, his description
suggests his awareness of the pervasive, archetypal quality of the traditional, mainstream horror film.
Second, his description rather coyly fails to account for the more marginal genre of ... Show more

In the introduction to her book, Men, Women, and Chain Saws (1993), Clover delimits her inquiry to
[those subgenres] of [1970 s and 80 s] American cinematic horror . . . in which female figures and/or
gender issues loom especially large: slasher films, occult or possession films, and rape revenge films
(5). More specifically, Clover argues convincingly that these subgenres (especially the slasher film)
make possible certain quasi transgressive viewer identifications: she proves that the mostly male
audience of the slasher film identifies less with the sadistic monster than with the monster s female
victim heroes. Clover ends her book by imagining a different kind of audience, this one for her own
work: at least some horror filmmakers read Freud . . . and film criticism (232), she notes. Ultimately,
she challenges these hypothetical, literate filmmakers: though the slasher film proper has died down. .
. . There may . . . be life in the amazingly durable and adaptable vampire movie she claims. And, she
adds, contemporary horror films do not take the kind of brazen tack into the psychosexual wilderness
that made horror in the seventies and eighties such a marvelously transparent object of study. Unless
and until the direction changes again, I suspect we will soon be back to the dominant fiction in its
dominant forms, out of which we must dig meanings rather than have them displayed so obviously

Course Objectives: Valuation will be discussed as a unifying theme in this course. This includes such
issues as how to value a firm that is not publicly traded, how to value a potential merger, how to value
an investment project. We will examine the use of debt in a firm s financial structure and ask if that
has an impact on the value of the firm. If a firm pays dividends, does that increase the firm s value?
The key objective of this course is to build on the foundation of your introductory course in financial
concepts and to apply more advanced concepts in corporate finance in a decision making context.
Since computer literacy is essential to the application of finance theory, the course will incorporate a
number of opportunities for the use of computer tools in a problem solving environment.
After you have successfully completed this course, you will be able to:
Apply value based management to guide valuation of a firm and valuation of a capital budget project.
Be aware of the underlying factors that impact the value of a financial option.
Understand the basic features of options contracts and how they are priced.
Have an understanding of the use and misuse of derivatives.
Understand how the firm s mixture of debt and equity, the capital structure, can impact the value of
the firm.

Statistical Analysis Of Organ Damage
Introduction
The HSE demanded a statistical report and analysis of the laboratory data, which could be used as
evidence of particular sectors of chemical industry causing potential health hazards for their
employees. For the purpose of this analysis a sample of people coming from four different sectors of
chemical industry had their blood tested for LDH 1 and LDH 5 levels (Intercellular enzyme that
determines cell damage in various organs). The degree of organ damage, in this case liver damage, can
be simply assessed by looking at the values of the ratio of those two enzymes: the higher the ratio of
LDH 1 and LDH 5 is, the worse the degree of liver damage is (nurseslearning.com). This is how we
can compare worker s health state and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One method of assessing the level of liver damage is to measure the ratio of LDH 5 to LDH 1.
To begin the statistical analysis of the data provided, we need to present the statistical description of it,
take a general look at the means and medians for each sector and test the normal distribution of the
data to see if we can undertake any further test.
As presented in the boxplot and in the descriptive statistics, the highest mean of the LDH1 to LDH5
ratio is associated with plasticizer manufacturing. Further examination and testing of the data is
necessary to determine whether there is a significant statistical difference between each industry and
health hazard associated with it, measured by LDH enzyme levels.
First of all it is worth to take a look at any outliers that may affect a distribution of the data.
Outliers affecting distribution:
De greasing outliers:
Female,34, 2 years of service
Dry cleaning outliers:
Male,33,15 years of service
Female, 60, 34 years of service
Plasticizer manufacturing outlier:
Male, 35, 14 years of service
The data set seems to have many outliers and what is more the Q1 and Q3 the quartiles are of a
different distance from the median, which makes the whole distribution unsymmetrical. What is more,
the whiskers are of a different length except for plasticizer manufacturing, which is generally the most
symmetrical one, and is the closest to the

Otto Frank No Ordinary Diary
No Ordinary Diary I had never imagined how intensely Anne had occupied her mind with the problem
of Jewish suffering over the centuries, and the power she had gained through her belief in God, this
was a surprise to me, said Otto Frank after he read Anne s diary. Because of the spread of Anne s
diary, now not only can Otto learn about how she felt, but the world can too. Although many difficult
events took place during Anne Frank s childhood before the war, life in hiding and the camps, and her
legacy after the war, she is now known as one of the most famous German Jewish Holocaust victims.
Anne lived her childhood very happily before the war. Anne was born into a small family in Germany.
Annelies Marie Frank, also known as Anne Frank, was born on June 12, 1929, in Frankfurt, Germany
( Anne Frank Biography ). There were a variety of religions in Frankfurt during this time. She and her
parents, Edith and Otto Frank, and her older sister, Margot, were German Jewish, and they were an
upper middle class family. The Frank families had lived in Frankfurt for many generations before, too.
Otto was a World War I lieutenant, and he ran a business in Germany ( Anne Frank Biography ). When
Hitler came to power, many things changed. After World War I, the German economy was very

My Experience In High School
Before graduating elementary and jumping into middle school my homeroom adviser always advises
us to try and enter the school program in this particular high school. The thing is to enter the program
you need to take an entrance exam and get at least 85% on it. The first week of May 2012 my mom
and I went to my elementary school to collect my transcripts that I needed to enroll for grade 7. At that
moment and for the last time I saw my grade 6 teachers. Upon getting my transcripts I can hear my
grade six teachers asking my mom if I will take the entrance exam.
Two weeks later after getting my transcripts, my mother and I went to the high school. The school was
crowded, it was very foreign to me, as I viewed it as I am a small shack in a city full of skyscrapers.
Before enrolling, we talked about trying to take the entrance exam for the program the high school
offers, I agreed. There is no harm in trying anyway, so I will try to give my best just to pass that exam.
Then the day of the entrance exam came. I expected that you can seat wherever you want during the
exam but to my dismay that wasn t the case. The spectators arrange us alphabetically, so being my last
name starts with an A, I was always the first one or if I am lucky the second one to be called. The
spectators were calling our last names one by one, boys were the first one to be called. After all the
boys were called, I got nervous as it is the girls turn to be called. I was called third, and I was placed
in the room where the boys are taking the exam. Along with the two girls that I don t know and who is
sitting in the far front.
During the duration of the exam, I can hear paper shuffling repeatedly. I looked at where the noise was
coming from and lucky enough it was the guy who is sitting beside me. I thought that I can just say a
few words and tell him to stop flipping his paper but I failed, as on the other hand, he thought I am
going to engage in a conversation with him. He began asking me what school I came from, why am I
so pale and that s even questionable because I m not pale, etc. At first, I ignored him hoping that he
will stop talking, he didn t.
Results came, I was very glad that I passed the exam at the same time nervous and I don t

The Life And Times Of The Last Kid Picked Analysis
David Benjamin s reminiscences of dangerous outdoor activities and deviant behavior in The Life and
Times of the Last Kid Picked, portrays a classic and comedic tale of the adventures of boyhood. As the
middle child in a broken home, he accepted his invisibility and dealt with his seemingly unwanted
presence by spending hours busily getting into mischief with neighborhood boy sidekicks. One
memorable boyish antic included pouring a rancid bucket of tadpoles he d failed to keep alive with the
feeding of table scraps, over a ledge onto unsuspecting strangers below. Another involved nearly
losing an index finger to a vicious snapping turtle while digging in the murky ponds that surrounded
his town. Though he had many friends, he always seemed an outsider. Poorly equipped at baseball, he
nevertheless exuberantly returned to the daily male emotional bashing from his teammates, earnestly
wanting to be part of a team. Eventually, he found a knack for football that, to his surprise, exalted
him to star status among his peers. In desperate attempts for his father s attention, he tagged along on
male bonding trips. Never comfortable enough to ask for clarification, he did his best to mimic the
example of his father s unspoken rules in hunting and fishing excursions. One of his futile attempts at
hunting resulted in a protesting squirrel s fight for life by scurrying up Benjamin s pant leg and all but
ripping his gonads from their location. Fishing was more Benjamin s forte, as he

Rap Vs Poetry Essay
quot; When I first started rapping, me and a couple brothers would all sit around my place freestyling
while someone beat boxed. I even used to tell all the girls that I was a poet. They seemed to find it a
little more touching than a rapper quot; (Prince Paul, The Source 16) The lyrics of rappers are very
similar to the words of Black poets. It is argued as to wether or not rap is a viable form of poetry.
Both discuss similar subjects, write in the same style and use the same type of language in their
writings. When looking at a poem or reading rap lyrics, distinguishing between the two can be
difficult, if not impossible. Both Black rappers and Black poets write about the same subjects. For

quot;If we don t build we ll be destroyed / Thats the challenge we face in this race of poor and

are yet another subject shared by both rappers and Black poets. The lyrics in the song quot;Brown

In the poem quot;My Brothers quot;, Haki is sending a message to the other black males about how
they should start to love and respect the females of the black race. quot;My brothers i will not tell you

poets and Black rappers share the same views and write about the same subjects. The language used by
Black rappers and Black poets is a strong, short, to the point language. Maya Angelou demonstrates
this in her poem quot;Aint That Bad quot;. In the poem Maya uses a lot of repetition to get her point

The Buddha Vairocana And Buddhism
Buddhism was introduced into Japan in Nara Period through Korea, with only some scripts in Chinese
writing. At the time, Japanese find their country in lack of civilization like writing and cultural
religion. By sending people to China to accept more doctrine from foreign countries, different
Buddhism schools are developed later in time. During the end of Heian Period, one of the popular sect
is dedicated to Shingon, which is established by a monk named Kukai . Buddha Vairocana is one of
many Buddhas revered by this particular sects of esoteric Buddhism, also among the Chinese school
of Hua Yen(华严). This essay will be focusing on the Buddha Vairocana, the meaning behind this
Sanskrit name, his wisdom and doctrine and his characteristic Mudra (hand gesture, a major practice
in esoteric Buddhism) will be explained. The essence on how this Buddha is introduced into Japan,
along with traditions and activities that are relevant to Buddhism in general will be also stated in this

three main schools of Buddhism in Asia, most widely practiced today in Tibet. In Vajrayana
Buddhism, the concept of Five Dhyani Buddhas (Skt. for concentration ), also known as the Five
Wisdom Buddhas, are representations of the five wisdom aspects of Buddha. With Amitabha

Animals And Animal Nature
Let there be light, Let there be a space between the waters, to separate the waters of the heavens from
the waters of the earth. Let the waters beneath the sky flow together into one place, so dry ground may
appear. Let the land sprout with vegetation every sort of seed bearing plant, and trees that grow seed
bearing fruit. These seeds will then produce the kinds of plants and trees from which they came. Let
lights appear in the sky to separate the day from the night. Let them be signs to mark the seasons,
days, and years. Let these lights in the sky shine down on the earth. Let the waters swarm with fish
and other life. Let the skies be filled with birds of every kind. Be fruitful and multiply. Let the fish fill
the seas, and let the birds multiply on the earth. Let the earth produce every sort of animal, each
producing offspring of the same kind livestock, small animals that scurry along the ground, and wild
animals. Let us make human beings in our image, to be like us. They will reign over the fish in the
sea, the birds in the sky, the livestock, all the wild animals on the earth, and the small animals that
scurry along the ground. Be fruitful and multiply. Fill the earth and govern it. Reign over the fish in
the sea, the birds in the sky, and all the animals that scurry along the ground.

Stereotyping And Stereotypes
Stereotyping someone without knowing someone can bring unwanted conflicts and wrong
impressions. The other college students talked about me, as they tended to, not knowing that I could
hear what they were saying. Look at her, she looks mean and rude. The look on my face must be ugly,
I suppose. Stereotypes always upset me and when the other girls were talking about me was no
exception. After hearing what was said I began to grow angry as the elevator started to go up. I was
alone, so I started thinking and talking out loud to myself about what was said about me, when the
elevator stopped on my door room floor, I realized I shouldn t be that upset, because it was not true. I
do not have to prove anybody wrong, or explain myself to anyone until they talked to me to see what
they thought of me was wrong. I continued to walk in the direction of my dorm room. I got to my
dorm room and I introduced myself to one of my roommates and her family. I picked my bed,
dressers, and computer desk. I started unpacking and moving my furniture around to accommodate
me. One by one, I put my clothes in the dressers neatly while my family brought the rest of my things
into the room. After a couple of hours, I was done unpacking and all I had to do was go to the store
and get food, drinks, and other things that I needed. I came back to my dorm and it was time for
parents to leave, so I walked my family out and talked to them and told them that I will call them later.

County Commission Definition
The county commission is pretty neat. They decide what our taxes go towards and try to improve our
lives as citizens of West Virginia. Also they give us parks and parks are good for tag. Most of the
money goes towards public works projects and keeping the capitol in good condition. But what does
my county commission do for me? The taxes we pay go towards making the state better as a whole.
The county commission is there to make sure our taxes are not wasted. If we have more parks and
attractions more tourists will come and that will create more stores. The more stores the more jobs and
jobs help make West Virginia the best it can be. If the county commission can create jobs, then more

Apathetic Nature In The Tempest
In Shakespeare s play, the Tempest, there are several actions and descriptions that reveal insight into
the personalities of each character. One of the most potent tools used in the play is noise. Noise, and
the perception of noise sheds, a different light on the subtleties of each character. It reveals
characteristics that contradict their written descriptions and often provides insight into the mindset of
the characters. Through the use of harsh sounds and solemn music, Prospero reveals his apathetic
nature towards the Europeans. This apathetic nature is a result of selfishness because Prospero wants
his daughter wed. In the beginning, he commands Ariel to conjure a tempest upon the ship. The are
several terrifying noises that associate with this violent storm. These include the sounds of winds, the
splashing water, the roaring thunder, and in this case the splitting of wood. According to one of the
mariners, We split, we split (1.1.57)! The sounds insue panic among the passengers and hints at their
possible death. The chaotic sounds caused by a raging storm is the method in which Prospero
psychologically manipulates the Europeans. Besides manipulation, the storm acts as a way of
releasing trapped anger towards the men on the ship. Prospero did not harm any of the Europeans, but
anger and apathy are evident because he commands his daughter tell you piteous heart/There s no
harm done (1.2.13 14).
Prospero also abuses the power of Ariel to encourage betrayal among the

Was The American Revolution Radical Or Radical
The American Revolution is typically looked at as a conservative movement, but it seems most of the
actions taken were very radical. They were fighting to defend their rights, governed and natural. The
American Revolution was as radical as any other revolution, in a special 18th century way, and this
seems to hold true while looking at the new waves of thinking. It involves the Whigs and Tories, and
while they are at opposite sides of the spectrum, they consecutively agreed to not address and higher
law principles so they would not have to rework their entire system.. The Revolution worked against
this, and the parties chose to pretend it was not a serious movement and act, as they believed it would
not take any effect. More people got involved and all aspects of life began to be questioned and
revolutionized. The Revolution seems to be radical in a more definitive way as it caused segregation
of beliefs, the Declaration of independence, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The people were finally being valued and everyone was given a chance to work towards improving
the things taking place around them. While it is very debatable, the actions that were taken and how
individuals started to think on their own cause the Revolution to be a special and more defining type
of radical. There has never been a revolution that has been born out of ideas alone and this time, it was
at least the beginning of seeing change. Starting with the Tories and Whigs reformation, carrying out
through the war and even the justice and social systems, the radicalism started growing and spreading.
There was still a long way to go and a huge separation between conservative and liberal views, but it
was a revolution for the people. It was special for the 18th century and was able to be carried out due
to the segregation of beliefs, the magnum opus, and the acts of the

  • 2. Essay on Loss In One Art by Elizabeth Bishop One Art by Elizabeth Bishop is a poem that explores loss in comparison to an art; however, this art is not one to be envied or sought after to succeed at. Everyone has experienced loss as the art of losing is presented as inevitably simple to master. The speaker s attitude toward loss becomes gradually more serious as the poem progresses. Keys, having virtually no reason for emotional attachment, are mentioned in line 5 with a tone of acceptance that, Yes, it is okay to lose keys. Although vital to the penetration of a lock, keys are such a generic object that they can be easily replaced and, aside from the inability to open that door, will not be missed for long. Lines 2 and 3 state that so many things seem filled with the intent ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At this point in the poem, the speaker s attitude toward loss is rather blasé due to the fact that the items she has misplaced holds no emotional attachment and can be replaced. As the poem progresses, the misplaced or forgotten items become concepts such as names and ideas, and therefore carry more of an impact. For example, forgetting someone s name, however not uncommon, can be associated with feelings of embarrassment from the forgettor, and annoyance from the forgotten when they discover that they were not important enough to be remembered. The speaker simply shrugs off these losses because None of [them] will bring disaster, as mentioned in line 9. Emotion, often associated with memories is introduced in line 10 when the speaker announces, I lost my mother s watch. An item such as a mother s watch holds sentimental value, unlike the previously mentioned keys; however, the speaker repeats, I miss them, but it wasn t a disaster, (line 15) indicating that the watch was merely a material possession crowded with memories. At this point, the reader recognizes the feeling of missing something associated with greater losses of objects and ideas the speaker regards with more emotional attachment. In line 16, the speaker s emotional attitude toward loss changes as it becomes evident that the speaker has lost a person, yet they still view loss as a part of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The concept is employed in work on artificial intelligence. The expression was introduced by Gerardo Beni and Jing Wang in 1989, in the context of cellular robotic systems. The project proposes a swarm intelligence based procedure to detect critical conditions of a patient, affected by a specific disease, at an early stage in absence of clinician. • 6. Analyzing The Origins Of The Dutch Armies And Its First... Countermarching is the military maneuver in which rows of infantry take turns advancing and firing upon an enemy, only to be replaced by the rank behind them which had already reloaded. The maneuver would allow ranks of infantry to establish a constant base of fire while involving a greater proportion of rifle bearing soldiers at a single given time. The deadly practice saw its first applications in late 16th century Japan and later developed independently in the midst of the Dutch Revolt in Western Europe. Western European countermarch stemmed from humble and classical origins, but would grow to be the status quo used by every major military power in Europe by the end of the 17th century. During the siege of Middleburg in 1572, the Spanish implemented water defenses that prevented any the effective use of siege equipment by the Dutch. The Spanish also exploited their competitive advantage in open combat away from Dutch waterways, and in open combat crushed Louis of Nassau s army at Mook on the 14th of April 1574. Fighting between the army of Flanders, which had just under 100,000 men by the end of 1580. The combination of Dutch Naval superiority and the Army of Flanders superiority on the ground meant that no meaningful victory could be achieved. The wars remained costly for both governments with the Spanish defaulting on war debts in 1575, but with the dutch unable to exploit their sudden advantage because of a tired and ineffective military. In order to finally reunite the low countries, newly appointed Maurice of Nassau would have to embark on a series of military reforms that could see influence expanded into the landlocked south, away from the comfort of the ocean and waterways of the north. Early military reformers had a great deal of difficulty reforming the status quo, as military generals and members of the intellectual community demonstrated a great deal of inertia. As military thinkers and philosophers began to explore newly translated ancient texts, they ran into a great deal of intellectual backlash. I believe that Hamlet is, in fact, feigning his madness. What I do not know is if I believe this because it is what I was taught or if I came up with the idea myself based on my own interpretation. When I was taught Hamlet there was no argument it was just fact that he was faking his madness. Because of my confusion, I came to find that it may be interesting take out of the play any moment in which Hamlet makes the audience aware that he is only pretending that to be mad. From this moment on, Hamlet heads in a downward spiral and we can track him losing his mind if we just erase the lines that express his plan to act like his is doing so. These cuts begin from the moment when Hamlet says that he is going To put an antic disposition on (Act I Scene V). Taking out this one line could change the play entirely. Most of the lines in which he speaks of this part of his revenge plot following his original declaration of it are moments in which he is attempting to explain that he isn t actually insane. By removing this one, small line we effectively make it easier to argue that his madness isn t a part of his plot but it is an actual part of him. Without having concrete proof before the madness starts that it is, in fact, planned how are we as an audience supposed to trust him? Removing this line makes it so that the readers, and the other characters, are entirely unaware of this part of his plan. He acts mad for a while before he mentions again that this is his plan. The next time Hamlet discloses the part of his revenge plan is when he is speaking to Guildenstern in Act II Scene II, and tells him that his uncle father and aunt mother are deceived and then clarifies ... Misreading Scripture with Western Eyes gives the reader well enlightened concepts to the bible that before might have been obscured, but now have been broken down into terms that people from the western part of the world can comprehend such as ice bergs. The author uses many a resemblances to the bible and how other supportive countries of our world see it inversely. • 13. Mccandless, Mccandless And Thoreau Similar to Thoreau, McCandless does not associate being in solitude to being lonesome. Throughout his journey, McCandless avoids forming close bonds with others because it distracts him from his final goal of independence and transcendentalism. This lack of intimate relationships frees McCandless as seen through the journal entry he wrote before walking into the Alaskan Bush. He writes proudly that for two years he has roamed with no company and no comforts. He calls it, Ultimate freedom (Krakauer 163). The fact that he considers it more of a freedom than a loss to live in solidarity shows that like Thoreau, McCandless does not feel lonely when he is alone. According to his sister, Carine, even when he was younger, he was fine with being alone. She said that although he had friends, he could easily entertain himself and never seemed lonely when he was alone. Another instance in which McCandless s dissociation of solitude and loneliness shows is in a letter he writes to Ron Franz, a man he met near Salton City. In this letter, he tells Franz to step outside his comfort zone and live a more adventurous life. Towards the end of the letter, he states, You are wrong if you think Joy emanates only or principally from human relationships, (Krakauer 57). This approach is how he is not lonely in solitude; he is capable of finding joy in things other than human contact. Thoreau lived as a minimalist to strip away the distractions of life. He wanted to live in the woods, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

By contrast, in workers co operatives employees will have contributed towards the capital of the organisation and may elect managers at annual meetings. The advantage of workers co operatives is that all workers can take part in discussions regarding their firm. Therefore, there is a strong incentive for workers to work harder and increase profitability if they anticipate receiving higher dividends from their shares. Another advantage is that taking part in the decision‐making process helps to motivate workers. However if the co operative becomes bankrupt then the workers will lose both their jobs and the value of their shares. It may then be difficult to persuade employees to put more capital into the business. Thus, they can successfully use the same plot structure to portray two divergent effects of losing one s innocence in a traumatic event. The plot structure of the novels also reinforces the idea of innocence. The plot structure for The Kite Runner is chronological, but the plot structure for The God of Small Things is circular. In his novel, The Kite Runner, Hosseini begins to dive into the distinction by beginning the novel with introducing the main character, Amir, and his friend Hassan. The God of Small Things is out of sequence because the novel is jumbled. As a result, Arundhati Roy uses this to reinforce the idea of a circular plot structure, where the characters are unable to break free of the cycle. Estha tried to protect Rahel from losing her innocence once the Orangedrink Lemondrink man molested him, but he was unable to, and as a result the twins end up having sex at the end of the novel. However, in his novel The Kite Runner Khaled Hosseini portrays Amir as unable to save Hassan from the rape that takes place, and instead shows Amir protecting Sohrab, Hassan s son, who was also raped by the same person. CONCLUSION: In both novels, Arundhati Roy and Khaled Hosseini took careful consideration when conveying their message to readers. They both utilize similar story plots, plot structure, and symbols that represent similar meanings. As an author, Khaled Hosseini clearly describes Amir s journey and his reactions to specific events throughout the novel, crafting his responses in clever ways. Arundhati Roy also employs the same technique in her novel, choosing to use a similar plot structure, but having the characters react differently to the scenarios they face. Amir, for example, chooses to take control of his future not allowing his past to affect his decisions, and thus Hosseini portrays him as hopeful for the future. Whedon claims he wanted to give this paradigmatic girl victim a new role: that of the monster killing hero. Whedon s explanation of his own artistic inspiration reveals at least two things about him as a film viewer and maker: first, his description suggests his awareness of the pervasive, archetypal quality of the traditional, mainstream horror film. More specifically, Clover argues convincingly that these subgenres (especially the slasher film) make possible certain quasi transgressive viewer identifications: she proves that the mostly male audience of the slasher film identifies less with the sadistic monster than with the monster s female victim heroes. Clover ends her book by imagining a different kind of audience, this one for her own work: at least some horror filmmakers read Freud . . . and film criticism (232), she notes. Ultimately, she challenges these hypothetical, literate filmmakers: though the slasher film proper has died down. . . . There may . . . be life in the amazingly durable and adaptable vampire movie she claims. And, she adds, contemporary horror films do not take the kind of brazen tack into the psychosexual wilderness that made horror in the seventies and eighties such a marvelously transparent object of study. For the purpose of this analysis a sample of people coming from four different sectors of chemical industry had their blood tested for LDH 1 and LDH 5 levels (Intercellular enzyme that determines cell damage in various organs). The degree of organ damage, in this case liver damage, can be simply assessed by looking at the values of the ratio of those two enzymes: the higher the ratio of LDH 1 and LDH 5 is, the worse the degree of liver damage is (nurseslearning.com). To begin the statistical analysis of the data provided, we need to present the statistical description of it, take a general look at the means and medians for each sector and test the normal distribution of the data to see if we can undertake any further test. As presented in the boxplot and in the descriptive statistics, the highest mean of the LDH1 to LDH5 ratio is associated with plasticizer manufacturing. Further examination and testing of the data is necessary to determine whether there is a significant statistical difference between each industry and health hazard associated with it, measured by LDH enzyme levels. First of all it is worth to take a look at any outliers that may affect a distribution of the data. Outliers affecting distribution: De greasing outliers: Female,34, 2 years of service Dry cleaning outliers: Male,33,15 years of service Female, 60, 34 years of service Plasticizer manufacturing outlier: Male, 35, 14 years of service The data set seems to have many outliers and what is more the Q1 and Q3 the quartiles are of a different distance from the median, which makes the whole distribution unsymmetrical. The Life And Times Of The Last Kid Picked Analysis David Benjamin s reminiscences of dangerous outdoor activities and deviant behavior in The Life and Times of the Last Kid Picked, portrays a classic and comedic tale of the adventures of boyhood. As the middle child in a broken home, he accepted his invisibility and dealt with his seemingly unwanted presence by spending hours busily getting into mischief with neighborhood boy sidekicks. One memorable boyish antic included pouring a rancid bucket of tadpoles he d failed to keep alive with the feeding of table scraps, over a ledge onto unsuspecting strangers below. Another involved nearly losing an index finger to a vicious snapping turtle while digging in the murky ponds that surrounded his town. Though he had many friends, he always seemed an outsider. Poorly equipped at baseball, he nevertheless exuberantly returned to the daily male emotional bashing from his teammates, earnestly wanting to be part of a team. Eventually, he found a knack for football that, to his surprise, exalted him to star status among his peers. In desperate attempts for his father s attention, he tagged along on male bonding trips. Never comfortable enough to ask for clarification, he did his best to mimic the example of his father s unspoken rules in hunting and fishing excursions. • 34. Animals And Animal Nature Let there be light, Let there be a space between the waters, to separate the waters of the heavens from the waters of the earth. Let the waters beneath the sky flow together into one place, so dry ground may appear. Let the land sprout with vegetation every sort of seed bearing plant, and trees that grow seed bearing fruit. • 35. Stereotyping And Stereotypes Stereotyping someone without knowing someone can bring unwanted conflicts and wrong impressions. The other college students talked about me, as they tended to, not knowing that I could hear what they were saying. Look at her, she looks mean and rude. The look on my face must be ugly, I suppose. Stereotypes always upset me and when the other girls were talking about me was no exception. After hearing what was said I began to grow angry as the elevator started to go up. I was alone, so I started thinking and talking out loud to myself about what was said about me, when the elevator stopped on my door room floor, I realized I shouldn t be that upset, because it was not true. I do not have to prove anybody wrong, or explain myself to anyone until they talked to me to see what they thought of me was wrong. I continued to walk in the direction of my dorm room. I got to my dorm room and I introduced myself to one of my roommates and her family. I picked my bed, dressers, and computer desk. I started unpacking and moving my furniture around to accommodate me. One by one, I put my clothes in the dressers neatly while my family brought the rest of my things into the room. After a couple of hours, I was done unpacking and all I had to do was go to the store and get food, drinks, and other things that I needed. I came back to my dorm and it was time for parents to leave, so I walked my family out and talked to them and told them that I will call them later. Saying bye, was ... One of the most potent tools used in the play is noise. Noise, and the perception of noise sheds, a different light on the subtleties of each character. It reveals characteristics that contradict their written descriptions and often provides insight into the mindset of the characters. Through the use of harsh sounds and solemn music, Prospero reveals his apathetic nature towards the Europeans. This apathetic nature is a result of selfishness because Prospero wants his daughter wed. In the beginning, he commands Ariel to conjure a tempest upon the ship. The are several terrifying noises that associate with this violent storm. These include the sounds of winds, the splashing water, the roaring thunder, and in this case the splitting of wood. There has never been a revolution that has been born out of ideas alone and this time, it was at least the beginning of seeing change. Starting with the Tories and Whigs reformation, carrying out through the war and even the justice and social systems, the radicalism started growing and spreading.
