The, A Fusion Of Animal And Machine
In You Are a Cyborg (Harl, Kunzru, 2013), Donna Haraway claims that humans are cyborgs; a fusion of animal and machine . Not
robots like artificial intelligence Ava in Ex Machina (Garland, 2015), but cybernetic organisms or information machines. Haraway s
cyborg claim rests on a complex interaction between humans and technology and how this interaction is not co existing with one
another, but as humans and technology incorporating one another. The Dictionary of Sociology defines cyborg as a, growing
integration of human beings into mechanical systems (2012). Following Haraway s claim, I am a cyborg when I use technology, and
more specifically when I use the social media application Instagram. Instagram is a social networking application ... Show more

interaction on Instagram is not typical face to face communication because Instagram tracks when the interaction took place, what

involved who experience the interaction, but a third party is gathering information based on the details of the interaction. As an
Instagram user, I am a cybernetic organism, because I am associated with the vast network of profiles, companies, and advertising on
Instagram and therefore subject to the gathering of information. Next, Instagram uses the detailed information on its users to create an

Absurdity Of Human Existence By Albert Camus
Albert Camus is a prominent existential philosopher from Algeria. Despite the fact that Camus believes that life is meaningless and
absurd, Camus thinks that we should embrace the meaningless and absurd. I fully agree with his opinion on life because Camus is
essentially saying that we should find meaning within a meaningless life and take on life head on. As stated in the ¨Absurdity of
Human Existence by Albert Camus, Camus believes that ¨the one truly serious philosophical problem [is suicide].¨ Camus thinks that
deciding whether life is worth living is the most fundamental question of philosophy and that ¨suicide is a solution to the absurd.¨ To
be absurd is to be ridiculous and what is absurd in life completely depends on the interpreter. There are many absurdities in life
Camus groups the biggest absurdities in life into five categories. The first of the absurdities is the repetition of life. We mindlessly
repeat our schedules everyday until we realize that we are following an endless cycle that has no meaning that only ends in ¨suicide or
recovery.¨ The second absurdity in life is the absurdity of life. Humans are dense and cease to understand the meaning of life outside
of the mere images that we claim to understand because we ¨lack the power to make us of that artifice.¨ The third absurdity in life is
the absurdity of people because we merely perform meaningless pantomime that ¨makes silly everything that surrounds¨ us everyday;
we have no meaning or purpose in

Performance Enhancing Drugs in the Workplace
Performance enhancers are becoming more common in our everyday life, despite our efforts to ban them. This raises the questions,

Short Story Of Myrtle Wilson
VALLEY OF ASHES It was a sweltering night, the air heavy with the tears of God, as Mrs. Myrtle Wilson was struck by the death
car. Mrs. Wilson ran out of the Wilson s building, a garage structure for Mr. Wilson s business and the couple s house right on top.
Simultaneously, a yellow car, (spectators disagree on the color of the car, and there have not been any confirmations on the true color
of the car, however, Mr. Wilson claims to know the kind of car it was), was whizzing past heading back from New York, assumed to
be driving at fifty to sixty miles per hour, while Mrs. Wilson ran into the road. In a tragic event, Mrs. Myrtle Wilson was killed
instantly, with her left breast left unattached to her body and her red hair tangled with blood, and left for dead as the death car and its
owners never stopped and continued on down the road. Mr. Wilson, absolutely distressed, was yelling in exclamations right after the
death car s mowing down of his wife.
Mrs. Wilson was a loving wife, and was planning to go West to pursue their own American Dream, one can only assume, with her
husband, Mr. George Wilson. Mrs. Myrtle was an easy going, high energy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Wilson has spoken about his belief that his wife was murdered and continues to express his understanding of the event by stating that
Mrs. Myrtle Wilson was having an affair and was running to the man in the car in order to speak to him and the man refused to stop.
However, a source close to Mr. Wilson suspects that Mrs. Wilson had been trying to run away from her husband than trying to speak
with her lover. The frenzy and chaos that took hold in the Wilson s home is a plausible explanation for Mr. Wilson s belief. According
to a medical professional, Mr. Wilson s grief has caused him to create fantasies and delusions in order to lessen the pain over the
death of his wife. It has been most commonly explained as part of the grieving process. Also, foul play has not been cited as a reason
for the incident by the

The Life Of Frederick Douglass s The Narrative Of The...
The topic of slavery in antebellum America was very mixed overall in the nation. Normally people in the North opposed slavery,
while citizens of the South supported it. However, at the same time, many people were unconcerned with this heated topic and needed
to be persuaded to join the fight against slavery. Northern citizens may have seen the practice slavery as neither good nor bad, but just
part of Southern life going on for hundreds of years. Frederick Douglass, a slave who had escaped to the North, after years of abuse
through slavery, knew that in order to stop slavery, he had to persuade all the people in the North to vehemently oppose it as much as
he did himself. Through the Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass , which he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Today almost all children grow up knowing their parents. It is a crime to take children away from their parents under most
circumstances. Returning back to slave times, taking the slave children away from their parents is dehumanizing to the parents and
children, by taking away the most important away from their lives. Without any familial connections to anyone, Douglass had to fend
for himself like a person thrown into the jungle and try his best to survive every day. Douglass uses these descriptions in his narrative
to convey how slaves were ripped apart from their families. With each slave being evaluated as property rather than a human being,
the slaves felt like a good rather than a person with a family, who would feel so much emotional pain when they have to leave their
children, siblings, or spouse behind. Through the progression of dehumanization, the white slave owners were able to keep their
power over their slaves, who lost their dignity with each whip given.
Douglass also puts the intense picture of dehumanization into the reader s head when he writes about the whippings slaves suffered. A
young boy, Douglass witnesses for the first time a slave getting whipped, He took her into the kitchen, and stripped her from neck to
waist, leaving her neck, shoulders, and back entirely naked. He made her get upon the stool, and tied her hands to the hook (6).
Douglass hides in a closet, thinking that he would be the next

The Issue Of Immigration In America
The issue of immigration in America has caused a major controversial uproar, such as whether or not immigrants have the right to
become legal citizens of America and participate in what most citizens take advantage of, like voting and have a driver s license.
Some Americans believe that no one should be allowed to come to America to live because of the fear of minorities trying to take
over. While others believe there is nothing wrong with the idea, and that should be given the right to become a citizen of America.
Issitt (2016) said, Immigration refers to the movement of persons from one nation or region to another with the purpose of seeking
permanent residence. According to this view immigrants deserve rights as a citizen if the desire ... Show more content on

Obama sees there is an issue with immigration policy and wants to change it. In his words from the November 2014 speech: Today,
our immigration system is broken, and everybody knows it. Families who enter our country the right way and play by the rules watch
others flout the rules. Business owners who offer their workers good wages benefits see the competition exploit undocumented
immigrants by paying them far less. All of us take offense to anyone who reaps the rewards of living in America without taking on the
responsibilities of living in America. And undocumented immigrants who desperately want to embrace those responsibilities see little
option but to remain in the shadows, or risk their families being torn apart (Keeling, 2014). The given idea for an immigration reform
plan had as one of its goals to be supported by both democratic parties and republican parties and included six prospects designed to
have a win win situation for both the government and immigrants that are desiring to come to America. Things like changing border
laws, preventing visa overstays and preventing people from working without a permit and programs helping immigrants adjust to life
in the United States (Vinik 2014). These laws are not always considerate of immigrants needs. If an illegal immigrant has children in

Argumentative Essay On Technology
Technology Research When people think about the word technology, most people think about computers, cell phones, ipads, and the
latest versions we are lucky enough to play with if we are willing to pay the high price. Technology such as computers, have been
around since the early 1940 s. According to Spicer, the first computer made was called The Z3, built by German engineer, Konrad
Zuse. The Z3 computer was used for aerodynamic calculations, but was later destroyed in a bombing in 1943. Technology has always
been a benefit for physical education and special education classes. Rosengard stated on the SPARK website, that Teaching physical
education can be challenging for any number of reasons, from a lack of equipment to keeping students engaged. He later then stated
that To meet these challenges, some educators are turning to technology to create more dynamic classes that work for students with a
wide range of fitness levels. Physical education classes have been lucky to be able to use pedometers, heart rate monitors,
stopwatches, etc to be able to physically see and record how healthy their body is. When physical education classes started, teachers
were lucky enough to have a pencil, notepad, and a clock on the wall that they used for a stopwatch. Before technology exploded, it
was hard to record much of the information we are able to record and chart with technology today. With nearly 100% of public
schools and colleges having access to the internet, many classes

development. Specifically, the National Guard s dual role posits a divide between state governor s perception of the National Guard
as a homeland security asset, and DOD utilization of the National Guard for operations abroad. Thus, the question of civilian support
to DOD homeland defense operations often arises, as a symbiotic relationship will require a commensurate effort from both parties.
Karen Guttieri of the Naval Postgraduate School states, Civil military relations are critical to homeland security...to support a large
number and variety of civil agencies in the event of domestic upheaval (2003, p. 6), but a civil disturbance may be insignificant in
relation to homeland defense efforts. For example, the number of deployed troops to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As discussed in lesson 5, the concept of DSCA is a complex provision that authorizes DOD assistance based on DOD Directive
3025.18 in the event federal, state, and local resources are exhausted. In order to improve DSCA and the domestic relationships
between federal, state, and local partnerships, the DOD introduced initiatives to clarify the framework for providing military support.
This includes the creation of the Emergency Preparedness Liaison Officer (EPLO) to facilitate the allocation of DOD resources in
support of civil authorities upon a declared disaster/emergency. Moreover, ambiguity found within the IRA provision undermines the
ability for commanders to provide assistance in lieu of DSCA approval methods. Thus, Hurricane Katrina sparked the DOD s review
of the IRA provision, in order to close the federal response gap for providing immediate disaster support by identifying current
legislative barriers. For instance, military leadership did not fully comprehend the authority obtained under the IRA provision, which
delayed military aid and assistance during Hurricane Katrina (Leshinsky, 2006). For example, the military responded under the
provision of the National Response Plan (NRP), which required the formal DSCA requests from FEMA. This delayed the response of
the surrounding military units and is one of the aforementioned barriers that spawned from the bureaucratic nature of requesting

John Howard s Argumentative Analysis
Former prime minister, John Howard s contentious statement that Australians of this generation should not be required to accept
blame for the past actions and policies over which they had no control (Howard statement, human rights report) contradicts Australia
s character. This destructive comment has deepened old wounds that are present from the genocide committed towards Aboriginals of
the Stolen Generation. Australia must accept liability for past policies as they have inflicted life long impacts towards the victims,
Australia continues to suffer division unless an apology is stated and Australia has previously apologised for the past policies of
former governments. If the nation continues to deny its history, Australia will never close ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Australia has stalled the process of addressing the issues of former governments as the nation possesses a narrow mindset of not being
responsible for other people s actions. Many continue to deny the existence of the Stolen Generation as Howard stated, I didn t
believe genocide had taken place, and I still don t. (Howard s statement, the Guardian) Due to the failure to act in a just and
sympathetic manner, it has resulted in 16,846 Aboriginal children in out of home care in 2016, in comparison to 2,785 Aboriginal
children in 1997. Australia must remove the finger from the national pause button to provide comfort for the deserving Aborigines
who were exposed to prolonged suffering, abuse and persecution. The past, present and future generations need to apologise as it is a
continuous lifelong struggle for Aborigines as it never goes away. Just cause we re not walking around on crutches, doesn t mean we
re not hurting. (Confidential Evidence 580, Queensland Bringing Them Home Report.) Australia s patriotic society lacks nationalistic
sorrow towards the victims affected by these policies. This proves that Australians of this generation are obligated to feel remorse as
the insensitivity towards Aboriginals

Essay On Cognition Enhancers
A common trend on college campuses is the use of performance enhancing drugs for both academic and athletic motives. Most
college students know of someone who abuses one of these drugs with the most common being cognition enhancers like Adderall and
Ritalin. (Greely 2008) These medications are only available legally by prescription, therefore students are illegally dealing to each
other for the buying and selling of these drugs. Their purpose for using is to have an advantage over their peers, despite these dealings
being crimes in the United States. Hyperactivity disorder, also known as ADHD, is what these prescriptions are intended for but in a

(Ragan 2013) With Adderall being the most common drug misused, its purpose is not only too get high or lose weight, but to gain
academic advantages with help in concentrating and studying. As the demands in schooling increase, there is a prevalent increase in
the need for cognition enhancers to gain an advantage in the academic setting. Cognition enhancers used by healthy students is
mainly focused in the academic side of college campuses. However, they are also abused in other competitive settings such as
athletics. Athletes use drugs like Adderall to battle their fatigue when playing in games and during practices. This illegal act can lead
to athletes being suspended, losing scholarships, and being fined. Many times, in masculine sports, the use of performance enhancing
drugs can be more expected in male athletes. These athletes rely on their athletic performance as a sense of identity and feel more
pressured to accomplish their athletic goals. Nonmedical use of Adderall was seen highest in wrestling and lacrosse which are
masculine sports that have high expectations. Females had no particular sport associated with the use of Adderall. This shows a link
between higher contact sports and the nonmedical use of Adderall. (Veliz 2015) Athletes don t just use cognition enhancers on the
field, but many student athletes take the medications after games or practices to be

Essay on With the setting of the sun
With the setting of the sun
In F. Scott Fitzgerald s novel, The Great Gatsby, there is a constant feeling of movement and the desire to get away. Nick, Gatsby,
Wilson,
Tom and Daisy all move, or have the intention of moving. Not only does this movement seem to foreshadow events in the book, but it
also seems to lead to the conclusion that society as a whole in the 1920 s was rather unstable and was undergoing constant change.
Not all the characters move in the same way, and this shows how different their backgrounds and lifestyles are. The main movement
seems to be from west to east. Throughout the decades man is said to be progressing through the steps of evolution and toward the
setting sun, or east to west. The characters ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nick says, [h]e talked a lot about the past and
I gathered that he wanted to recover something, some idea of himself perhaps, that had gone into loving Daisy. (117) This shows how
time could never change his dream, and that Gatsby feels that if he talks about the past then he will be able to change the future for
the better. The sun also stands for power and greatness, which made Jay Gatsby shine right through Jimmie Gatz. He starts of
engulfed in darkness, as his dream does not exist. From there he seems to be obsessed with this reverie, and effectively kills off
Jimmie Gatz and creates Jay Gatsby.
This new personality is formed when the sun rises, bathing him in light. Jay Gatsby sprang from his Platonic conception of himself
(104), and even with this change he still believed that the rock of the world was founded securely on a fairy s wing. (105) This new
light blinds the people that look at him, and covers up his old self. Although it covers him, some people like Mr. Sloane see him as
Jimmie Gatz, and are disgusted by it. The first time Tom meets Gatsby is when he, Mr. Sloane and a young woman stop by his house
while out riding. Gatsby tells Tom that he knows Daisy, to which Tom states later, I may be old fashioned in my ideas but women run
around too much these days to suit me. They meet all kinds of crazy fish. (110)

The freedom of press sounds like one of the things we shouldn t be focused on, especially with everything else that is going on in our

Sometimes words can hurt, but they can also be used to do great things. Think about all of the influential books, newspapers, and

Red Emma Song Review Essay
The song Red Emma uses a trumpet, guitar, drums, tambourine, and it sounds like a maraca is used occasionally. The trumpet opens
with a melody and then plays a similar melody at the end of the song. There are solo improvisations from the trumpet, guitar, and
drums. The drummer and guitarist play improvised melodies underneath the trumpeter for most of the song, except when they take
their solos. During the solo improvisations, the instruments that are not soloing are playing melodies underneath the improvisation.
Technically, there is no rhythm section because the drums and guitar play improvised melodies throughout the song. The drummer
does keep a rhythm and follows a structure that is established by the trumpeter. The trumpet adds tone color by playing across the
range from low to high and adjusting pitch. The guitar changes the tone by playing different chords that have a low and high pitch.
The drummer adds colorations by using cymbals and playing different drums to alter pitch. The song uses an A B C D form that is not
consistent throughout the song. This song is very different from anything that I have ever listened to. This upbeat and fast tempo song

Brutalism Research Paper
The New Brutalism is a term coined in the 1955 by Reyber Banham in his essay Architectural Critic in December 1995. In this essay
Banham endeavour to summarise this (at that time) new emerging movement. Banham described how this movement has caused
some polemics and critics. For some, Brutalism does not fulfil the standards of classical aesthetic. As Thomas Aquinas said beauty
supposed to be quod visum placet(that which seen, pleases), image may be defined as quod visum perturbat that which seen, affects
the emotions, a situation which could subsume the pleasure caused by beauty. Brutalism recognised both by the Brutalist and their
critics as being anti art, or any rate anti beauty in the classical aesthetic sense of the word. That statement

Alfred Lord Tennyson wrote the The Charge of the Light Brigade on December 2nd, 1854, and it was then published on December
9th. This poem was written following the disastrous Battle of Balaklava, between the British Light Brigade forces and the Russian
forces (Connors 3). Alfred Lord Tennyson wrote this poem to commemorate the lives lost, and it seems to be littered with Biblical
allusions. Specifically, this poem has striking diction similarity to Psalm 23 from the King James Version of the Bible. This discovery
spurs the question of whether Alfred Lord Tennyson was directly influenced by the Psalm, and if so, in what way?
The Charge of the Light Brigade was written when Lord Tennyson learned of the carnage at the decisive and devastating Battle of
Balaklava for the British. The battle was initiated when the overall commander of British forces, Lord Raglan, ordered the Light
Brigade to follow but not to attack the Russian enemy. Through the chain of command, this message was distorted and then one of the
commanders, Lord Nolan, drove the final nail in the coffin as he ambiguously ordered the troops to seize the Russian guns as he
gestured in the general direction of both the hilltop redoubts and the adjacent valley (Connors 2). The troops, confused by this order,
followed their leader into battle since they knew it was not their place to argue. The ensuing battle led to the death of half of the Light
Brigade (Connors 2). Due to this tragic event, the British people

La Migra Pat Mora
In the first line of La Migra , Pat Mora opens the poem in an appealing way by stating Let s play La Migra as if the poem that the
reader is about to read is about any ordinary game (1). The poem is a game of freedom that unfortunately many people face, putting at
jeopardy the lives of all the characters involved if factors turn against their favor. The prize of the winner is very simple for each; if
the immigrant woman wins she obtains the American dream, and if the border patrol wins he has accomplished his duty of keeping
immigrants out of the country. The author creates two sections letting each of the two characters be vulnerable at one point but also
have authority at another. In the first section, the border patrol is the one to hold the authority. He repeatedly states I can over the
things he can do to the woman because he holds authority to do so (8,12). In the next second section of the poem the author switches
the authority around to the woman, and this is implied because at the end of the poem she states Get ... Show more content on

When I first saw it, it surprised me because it was in Spanish. The name was straightforward and I knew it would talk about
immigration from an immigrant s point of view. As I started to read the poem it was somewhat different then what I expected. The
poem indeed was from an immigrant s point of view but also included a border patrol s perspective. What I had never expected for
the poem to be is to have an immigrant woman defying the authority of a border patrol. In most cases immigrants are scared
especially at the sound of la migra which is a slag word for immigration in Spanish. In addition, when the speaker was the border
patrol officer he made himself sound bad by stating the things he could do to the woman. In most cases the speaker does not talk bad
about themselves especially if being of authority figure like in this

Leno Amendment Research Paper
6902 families have been evicted from San Francisco in 22 years. This isn t counting the hundreds of other cities across California, and
the number of families is only rising, and the Ellis Act is to blame. Established in 1985, is a California law that allows landlords to
evict tenants when they are close to becoming bankrupt, or are currently bankrupt. However, the landlords who utilize the law are
often in neither situation. Due to the growing controversy, Senator Mark Leno has proposed an amendment to the original act in order
to combat the blatant greed that amassed over 30 years. Despite its flaws, the Leno Amendment is the right step for California, as it
will not only please the landlords, but their tenants as well. In 1985, California ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Leno Amendment can help solve some of the issues that surround the act, by imposing new restrictions and regulations that will
hopefully reduce the number of casualties . In imposing fines for violations of the act and limiting the number of times the act can be
enforced, California is headed in the right direction. However, it has some missteps, such as the lack of time extension for evicted
tenants to find new homes. Despite this, the Leno Amendment is the right choice for California. As the Leno Amendment attempts to
aid the financial situation of the tenants by giving them more time to relocate, as well as being paid relocation fees, the state of
California is attempting to even out the wealth gap. The landlords gained the most money and made up smaller, but wealthier end of
the spectrum, whereas the tenants gained the least, and made up the poor majority while the Ellis Act is in place. However, with the
aid of the Leno Amendment, California is not only addressing the issue of greed and high tenant evictions, it is also taking a
progressive step forward in the fight against the wealth

How did changing energy conditions affect the design of the homes of powerful people comparison between the Forbidden City and
19th century merchants houses in Liverpool
Introduction
This essay will discuss the similarities and differences between The Forbidden City and 19th century merchants house in Liverpool,
in terms of the material used, the scale of the buildings, the structural engineering designs and the decorations, despite being in two
completely different energy conditions.
The Forbidden City, one of the most famous and important buildings in China, was the imperial palace from the Ming dynasty to the
end of the Qing dynasty (1420 1912). It is located in the centre of Beijing, China, now serves as the Palace Museum. When Hongwu
Emperor s son Zhu Di became the emperor, he moved the capital from Nanjing to Beijing and began to build the Forbidden City in
1406[1]. As a palace, the Forbidden City is incredibly huge, it is 961 metres (3,153 ft.) from north to south and 753 metres (2,470 ft.)
from east to west [1], it consists 980 buildings [2] and was designed to be the centre of the old city of Beijing. The Forbidden City has
a huge impact on the cultural and architecture development in the eastern world, as the culmination of the two thousand years
development of Chinese architecture culture and one of the most important symbols of China, it impacts the eastern Asia or even the
entire eastern world.
Liverpool started its development in the mid 16th

The author of Primal Leadership, Daniel Goleman a former journalist, is an astonishing man that turned the business world upside
down with his great research published in 2001 about emotional intelligence. For decades, Business leaders around the world treated
their employees like the military, whereby instructions given were strictly followed and emotional boundaries were set. Employers
required their workers to leave their emotions outside before they walked into the workplace. It was believed that emotions were bad
for work productivity, distracted workers from their duties and negatively reflected on a company`s performance. Nevertheless,

Worn Path Symbolism
In the short story A Worn Path, by Eudora Welty, Phoenix Jackson is a small old lady that is overcoming the obstacles of life. She is
figuring out that life has many different encounters to overcome. Welty describes the physical and emotional encounters Jackson

First off, Phoenix Jackson is an old Negro woman, who faces the obstacles of life. She has troubles on her path through town and life.
She begins her path through the pinewoods. The path is like a microcosm of a person s whole life. Sometimes things can be easy, and
sometimes things can be hard. Phoenix runs into obstacles which are harder than other. Life has many elements; some many be
dangerous, surprising, beautiful, and confusing. Phoenix Jackson faces some problems with her memory. Up through pines, she said
at length. Now down through the oaks. (Welty A Worn Path ). Through the story Welty uses the trees as a symbol of wisdom, strength,

Hurricanes And Climate Disaster Events
1. Summary
Hurricanes and climate disaster events caused losses exceeding $110 billion in damages and 377 deaths across the United States, in
the year 2012. This makes the year 2012 the second costliest on record, after the year 2005 which witnessed $160 billion losses due to
hurricanes, including hurricane Katrina. Hurricane Sandy was the major driver of substantial damage costs in the year 2012
(approximately $65 billion). During the 1980 2005 period, the United States sustained over $500 billion in overall inflation adjusted
damages/costs due to extreme climate events. The analysis of available data shows a significantly increasing trend in billion dollar
disasters. The economic impact of hurricanes is huge and there is a need to improve the resiliency and the sustainability of the built
environment under extreme wind events, to protect our citizens and to reduce the massive economic losses brought by hurricanes.
The purpose of this project is to significantly reduce devastating hurricane effects on infrastructure by implementing solutions to
provide strategic guidance on the aerodynamic mitigation of buildings, to help lessen roof suctions, a major source of economic
losses and community disruption. In addition, solar panels arranged aerodynamically to reduce both roof suction and panel s loads
will be investigated, in an attempt to create safer and greener buildings, as well as to meet stringent wind requirements.

Examples Of Materialism In A Perfect Day For Bananafish
John Steinbeck suggests that to a monster the norm must seem monstrous, since everyone is normal to himself . Just as some people
are born missing limbs or with another physical birth defect, such as a birthmark, others could be born missing a trait vital to
communicate with the world around them or lose a trait throughout the course of their life. Although this missing trait is not visible to
others in society, does not mean it is any less serious. For instance, Seymour has a severe case of PTSD after returning from war that
causes his actions to seem abnormal to those around him, even his family. Furthermore, Seymour finds that the actions of those
around him, the materialistically obsessed, are difficult for him to cope with. In J.D. Salinger s A Perfect Day for Bananafish ,
Salinger depicts how life is for the monsters like Seymour in such a materialistic society. Seymour, a seemingly normal man to the
naked eye, is secluded from the world around him. Searching for an escape from such an uninviting society, Seymour takes some big
grasps for help before committing to his eventual demise. Salinger begins his depiction of Seymour through disdain before he brings
the audience to his heart breaking conclusion. Salinger indicates that the emotionally fragile cannot survive in a materialistic and
superficial society because society is not willing to accept those who are different. Salinger begins his short story by depicting a
materialistic society; in turn, he creates

The Impacts Of Premarital Sex And Cohabitation On Marriage

The Impacts of Premarital Sex and Cohabitation on Marriage
Becoming popular from the 1950s until now, premarital sex and premarital cohabitation have been considered as the norms in the
United States. While most people agree that premarital sex is one of the ways to find out whether the couple is perfect for each other,
others incline its consequences. Because the United States is described as the Salad Bowl, in which numerous ethnicities, religions,
and cultures are not assimilable, it exists some different perceptions about sex out of marriage. By reviewing the reasons and pointing
the consequences of having sex and living together before marriage, it is obvious ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Defending the judgment that premarital sex and cohabitation is acceptable and permissible, people who had sex before their marriage
or just agree with it expound some reasons. First of all, living together and sex outside marriage have been increasing because of
social pressure. In a community, a person who does not follow common norms is abnormal. According to the research in 2011,
Mashau learned that a person would be seen as stupid, rural, and sophisticated without participating in premarital sex as his/her peers.
It means that some people might neither agree nor disagree with premarital sex, yet they try to simulate what most people do in order
to be normal . Giving another reason to protect their opinion, people believe having sex and living together before marriage help them
be ready for marriage. Marriage is the most important event in a person s life; thus, everyone wants to find a fitting spouse with
whom they are going to live in the rest of the life. They worried a wrong decision will destroy their marriage, even their life. The
contribution of premarital sex and cohabitation is a suitable choice which not only helps the couples understand each other but also
gets their relationship closer. The couples believe engaging in sex and living together before marriage are the processes which they
are more likely experience the needs of marriage than the couples did not. As a result, the couples that think they

think that everyone used to justify him with his ugly face but none could feel his heart. Shrek was always trying to hide himself away

give love, support, warmth, and intimacy. In the perspective of the Donkey, it can be seen when he wanted to be the friend of Shrek
and in another scene the Donkey was cooping with the Dragon as a result of his loneliness and need for affection. In Shrek s
perspective, his need for affection was oftten suppressed, but at the end his need for affection drives him to tell princess Feona how

The Benefits Of Geothermal Energy
Throughout history, society has been looking for ways to increase renewable energy to provide better resources to replace fossil fuels
to reduce carbon footprints. The earth is a great source of natural energy therefore thermal energy is one of the most abundant
resources. There are many types of renewable energy, such as sunlight, wind, rain, tides, waves, and geothermal heat. Geothermal
heat renewable energy converts natural heat into electricity resources. Geothermal energy represents the inner heat of the earth s core.
Geothermal energy is mainly produced by decays of radioactive elements in the mantle and the center of the earth s layers. Heat is
constantly flowing from the Earth center to the surface creating a great source of natural energy. These geothermal power plants drill
wells into geothermal tanks to transfer hot water and steam from the earth s core to the surface. One great advantage of geothermal
energy is that using the resources of water and steam, you are able to reuse and pump back the supplies into the ground. Another perk
of using geothermal energy is that the energy is clean. Geothermal energy is environmental friendly because the power plants don t
use fossil fuels.
Some of the largest geothermal projects are located in Imperial Valley, California. It has eleven power plants built near the San
Andreas Fault. These power plants are owned and operates by a company called CalEnergy Operating Corporation and are producing

Descartes, Leibniz, And Spinoza Essay
If these great thinkers (Descartes, Spinoza, and Leibniz) were to discuss instead the soul s connection to the body, what might each
say (both on his own behalf and in response to the other)? Would they find any places where they might agree? If not, why not?
(These are, after all, smart guys!)
Though this sort of meeting would strike me as a debate with as furiously disparate and uncompromising ideals as one would find in a
meeting of Andrew Weil, Jerry Falwell, and David Duke, I expect that the philosophers would find some surprisingly common
ground. Descartes, the Christian outcast, Spinoza, the Jewish outcast, and Leibniz, the creative mathematician all acknowledge that

Although Descartes claims of the body s necessary existence follows from the cogito if the mind exists, then it must exist in contrast
to other, external things I presume that both Spinoza and Leibniz would take the opportunity to point out that Descartes presupposes
the existence of the god that necessarily created his body and mind before speculating on whether or not his body and mind exist.
Nice claim, bad explanation.
Spinoza s staunch, pantheistic monist view of the world establishes that the mind and body are not separate entities in themselves, but
only two of an infinite amount of attributes of the same and only substance in existence God. One can relate this reasoning to two
attributes of a red hot poker red and hot. Does this entail that red and hot are always dependent on a poker and that they are in essence
the same thing? Although this is not a likely conclusion, Spinoza raises the important question of how far we can analytically separate
parts of a world that are always interacting with each other. Try getting a metal poker to glow red without heating it, or heating a
poker without eventually having it glow red. This is improbable, albeit possible in theory. The mind and body may be two separately
identifiable things, but one will more than likely find the two cooperating with each other as attributes of the natural world.
Such cooperation

Neurodegenerative Disease Essay
Assignment
Neurological disorders often occur due to failure of proper brain development or appropriate maintenance of neuronal circuits.
CRISPR/Cas9 is now used extensively to genetically alter the genomes of various species. The ability of CRISPR/Cas9 to remove
DNA sequences and correct DNA mutations opens a new route to treat genetic diseases that are caused by DNA mutations. In this
assignment, I ll try to discuss how to apply CRISPR/Cas9 to establish animal models of neurodegenerative diseases, such as
Alzheimer s, Parkinson s and Huntington s disease (HD), and to treat these disorders that are caused by several of genetic mutations.
CRISPR/Cas9 is very recent addition to our tools for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
APPLICATION OF CRISPR TECHNOLOGY
Neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer s disease, Parkinson s disease(PD) and Huntington s disease (HD), have some
common characteristics like the age dependent gathering of misfolded proteins and selective neurodegeneration. Animal models are
highly valued and have been used widely to study neurological disorders and to find therapeutic aims for them. Because genetic DNA
mutations can cause several neurodegenerative diseases, the ability of CRISPR/Cas9 to directly target any gene in one or two alleles
of the embryonic genome opens a new route for using this new technology producing animal models of neurodegenerative diseases.
The traditional gene targeting technology made it difficult to establish large animal models of human diseases due to the lack of
embryonic stem cell lines. Since large animals are closer to humans, their disease models may more faithfully mimic the clinical
symptoms of patients and are important for exploring the mechanisms and treatment of both neuropsychiatric disorders and age
related neurodegenerative diseases. CRISPR/Cas9 was found to functionally disrupt the dystrophin gene in founder monkeys and
causes the same muscle atrophy phenotype seen in patients. Thus, when both alleles are mutated by CIRSPR/Cas9, the complete loss
of Parkin or Pink1will mimic the genetic mutations in PD patients. Also, because CRISPR/Cas9 can target multiple genes in the same
cells,

John Deere: The Start of an Empire Founded in 1837 by blacksmith and inventor John Deere, this now international multibillion

John Deere believed that without the trust and loyalty of his customers his company would not survive, a belief his successors still
hold true to this day. He also believed in helping those who were in need not just his customers but his employees. Deere and
Company have survived the Panic of 1852, The Great Depression, and several employee strikes, by knowing how people should be
treating and listening to what their employees wanted. Some examples how this vision was shared are, in 1938 during the Great
Depression although the company s sales slump and it is losing money, the decision is made to carry debtor farmers as long as
necessary. Today Deere and Company sponsors a several charitable events and organizations to help support under resourced areas,
such as the John Deere Classic, a PGA event that raised more than sixty two million dollars for local charities. There is also the
Citizen program, this philanthropy and volunteer program focuses on helping under resourced agricultural communities , build a more

Work Spouse Research Paper
What s a Work Spouse ?
It s that one person at work that you gravitate towards, to perhaps share a meme, or notify when there s cake in the conference room.
That one person you share an inside joke with via text during a pointless 40 minute meeting. C mon you know what I mean... you re
work spouse.
Now, it s cool when your single and it can develop into something. But what happens if you re already taken; might your relationship
with your work spouse give your significant other cause for concern?
No one wants to be cheated on: it s a ridiculing, heartbreaking, and energy draining to say the least. Being deceived is painful and if
you re not careful it can cause you to grow subsequently jaded about both future partners and relationships. ... Show more content on

Money s a touchy subject, and one that I ll get into eventually. However money spent on another that jeopardizes a couples financial
goals hat is earned shared and accounted for between money that is earned and accounted for between a couple, is wired to someone
else for their pleasure or needs, then the best interest of the couple as a unit becomes jeopardized. So paying for your work spouse s
lunches, or overly spending on a birthday or Holiday gift, would certainly pose a threat to an existing relationship. But it s a topic and
asset that should only be administered and spent by the couple needs/desires/plans, not the needs of others. Financial goals, even
future vacations planned together in a dating situation, create incentives for a couple to remain monogamous or exclusive, so any
leaks in the plan would sabotage a couple s plans, goals, and ultimate

Thomas Hobbes And John Locke
By the second half of the 17th Century, England would experience one of the bloodiest conflicts in its history, ultimately serving to
influence some of the most phenomenal political philosophers in Europe Thomas Hobbes, and John Locke. England was in constant
unrest, choosing new forms of government almost on a whim in desperate attempts to restore order in the Country. The English Civil
War in 1642 etched a legacy of dread in the people of England, and the war only appeared more disastrous and fruitless when it
became apparent the new Puritanical regime was just as irresponsible as the previous regime by Charles I and his predecessor James
I. Therefore, when the Glorious Revolution arrived in 1588, England was relieved that the Government was finally adapting to
advocate the toleration and the security of civil liberties on a grander scale. No longer would rulers attempt to mimic the authority of
Louis XIV and other absolute monarchs. However, without the historical events that had occurred in England, it is unclear whether
England s present form of government nor any Republic thereafter would be the same because the historical events which influenced
the political philosophies of Thomas Hobbes and John Locke were derived mainly from a combination of elements from the English
Civil War, The Leveller Movement, The Puritanical Dictatorship, or Louis XIV s reign.
Locke s own political notions were shaped by the principles of previous legislative support organizations

How Did Popular Music Affect The Civil Rights Movement
Music during the Civil Rights Movement of the 1960 s Music, and particularly cultural, social, and political songs, has remained an
essential facet of the longstanding tradition of uprisings and struggle for change in American culture. It is difficult to fathom the
passions and purposefulness of pop culture music in the civil rights movement of the 1960s; thanks to the freedom songs, whose
endeavor was to mobilize and reinforce collective participation in the civil rights campaigns, demonstrations, and protests (Stefani,
2015). The three songs from this period that exemplify popular music s role in calling for positive change regarding civil rights
included We Shall Overcome by Southern African American tobacco workers, Ain t Gonna Let Nobody Turn Me Round by Freedom
Singers, and People Get Ready by Curtis Mayfield. We Shall Overcome , performed by one of the musical ensembles Southern
African American tobacco workers was one of the popular freedom songs during the civil rights movement of 1960s. This song was
emblematic of the civil rights period. Fundamentally, the song accompanied the protests and explored the labor conditions for
Southern African American tobacco workers. The part of the song s lyrics that states I ll be all right someday is a clear illustration of
the hostile working conditions and thus the hope for a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

follows: Ain t gonna let nobody, turn me round/ Turn me round/ Turn me round. / I m gonna keep on walkin , keep on talkin / Walkin
into freedom land . From this part of the lyrics, the idea of remaining strong in the face of hostility is illustrated by the idea of keeping

Are Law Enforcement Cameras Invasion Of Privacy Essay
Are law enforcement cameras an invasion of privacy?
For law enforcement cameras are extremely important! The cameras will show the truth and nothing but the truth! It will also show
what actually happened, like if the cop got an accident on film then they can figure out what happened. With body cameras, it can
help decide what a person is convicted of because you get to see what the cop sees. Also, if the cops didn t have cameras and
microphones, then how can you tell that the person convicted of something is actually telling the truth? So how is showing and telling
the truth invading someone s privacy?
If the cop does have a camera on him or on the dash of his car, it will show what actually happened instead of what the criminal says.
The person convicted of whatsoever might try to lie and try to get out of it, but with a camera he can t get away with it! If you are a
cop in a car and pull someone over, you can use the film to show that they were being lied to if they found drugs or some other
substance in the car. For example, say that a cop was doing a drug bust, they run into ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But if that person has a warrant out for them, the cops can do anything to arrest them, such as invade their house. Cops will not go
into the house without a reason, if they know that the person is up to something they have the right to enter the house. They have a
reason and if they don t, then they will not enter the house unless if they have permission from the rightful owner of the property. So
if cops can t invade someone s privacy, then how can the cameras on the cops invade someone s privacy? One of the only reasons a
cop would just run into a house is if the person has a warrant or if the person is running from the cop and they run into their house.
With cameras it will show that they have a reason to be entering the house, so that prevents the cop from getting in

  • 2. The, A Fusion Of Animal And Machine In You Are a Cyborg (Harl, Kunzru, 2013), Donna Haraway claims that humans are cyborgs; a fusion of animal and machine . Not robots like artificial intelligence Ava in Ex Machina (Garland, 2015), but cybernetic organisms or information machines. Haraway s cyborg claim rests on a complex interaction between humans and technology and how this interaction is not co existing with one another, but as humans and technology incorporating one another. The Dictionary of Sociology defines cyborg as a, growing integration of human beings into mechanical systems (2012). Following Haraway s claim, I am a cyborg when I use technology, and more specifically when I use the social media application Instagram. Instagram is a social networking application ... • 3. Absurdity Of Human Existence By Albert Camus Albert Camus is a prominent existential philosopher from Algeria. Despite the fact that Camus believes that life is meaningless and absurd, Camus thinks that we should embrace the meaningless and absurd. I fully agree with his opinion on life because Camus is essentially saying that we should find meaning within a meaningless life and take on life head on. As stated in the ¨Absurdity of Human Existence by Albert Camus, Camus believes that ¨the one truly serious philosophical problem [is suicide].¨ Camus thinks that deciding whether life is worth living is the most fundamental question of philosophy and that ¨suicide is a solution to the absurd.¨ To be absurd is to be ridiculous and what is absurd in life completely depends on the interpreter. There are many absurdities in life Camus groups the biggest absurdities in life into five categories. The first of the absurdities is the repetition of life. We mindlessly repeat our schedules everyday until we realize that we are following an endless cycle that has no meaning that only ends in ¨suicide or recovery.¨ The second absurdity in life is the absurdity of life. Mrs. Wilson ran out of the Wilson s building, a garage structure for Mr. Wilson s business and the couple s house right on top. Simultaneously, a yellow car, (spectators disagree on the color of the car, and there have not been any confirmations on the true color of the car, however, Mr. Wilson claims to know the kind of car it was), was whizzing past heading back from New York, assumed to be driving at fifty to sixty miles per hour, while Mrs. Wilson ran into the road. In a tragic event, Mrs. Myrtle Wilson was killed instantly, with her left breast left unattached to her body and her red hair tangled with blood, and left for dead as the death car and its owners never stopped and continued on down the road. Mr. Wilson, absolutely distressed, was yelling in exclamations right after the death car s mowing down of his wife. Normally people in the North opposed slavery, while citizens of the South supported it. However, at the same time, many people were unconcerned with this heated topic and needed to be persuaded to join the fight against slavery. Northern citizens may have seen the practice slavery as neither good nor bad, but just part of Southern life going on for hundreds of years. It is a crime to take children away from their parents under most circumstances. Returning back to slave times, taking the slave children away from their parents is dehumanizing to the parents and children, by taking away the most important away from their lives. Without any familial connections to anyone, Douglass had to fend for himself like a person thrown into the jungle and try his best to survive every day. Douglass uses these descriptions in his narrative to convey how slaves were ripped apart from their families. With each slave being evaluated as property rather than a human being, the slaves felt like a good rather than a person with a family, who would feel so much emotional pain when they have to leave their children, siblings, or spouse behind. Through the progression of dehumanization, the white slave owners were able to keep their power over their slaves, who lost their dignity with each whip given. Douglass also puts the intense picture of dehumanization into the reader s head when he writes about the whippings slaves suffered. A young boy, Douglass witnesses for the first time a slave getting whipped, He took her into the kitchen, and stripped her from neck to waist, leaving her neck, shoulders, and back entirely naked. Argumentative Essay On Technology Technology Research When people think about the word technology, most people think about computers, cell phones, ipads, and the latest versions we are lucky enough to play with if we are willing to pay the high price. Technology such as computers, have been around since the early 1940 s. According to Spicer, the first computer made was called The Z3, built by German engineer, Konrad Zuse. The Z3 computer was used for aerodynamic calculations, but was later destroyed in a bombing in 1943. Technology has always been a benefit for physical education and special education classes. He later then stated that To meet these challenges, some educators are turning to technology to create more dynamic classes that work for students with a wide range of fitness levels. Physical education classes have been lucky to be able to use pedometers, heart rate monitors, stopwatches, etc to be able to physically see and record how healthy their body is. When physical education classes started, teachers were lucky enough to have a pencil, notepad, and a clock on the wall that they used for a stopwatch. In order to improve DSCA and the domestic relationships between federal, state, and local partnerships, the DOD introduced initiatives to clarify the framework for providing military support. This includes the creation of the Emergency Preparedness Liaison Officer (EPLO) to facilitate the allocation of DOD resources in support of civil authorities upon a declared disaster/emergency. Moreover, ambiguity found within the IRA provision undermines the ability for commanders to provide assistance in lieu of DSCA approval methods. Thus, Hurricane Katrina sparked the DOD s review of the IRA provision, in order to close the federal response gap for providing immediate disaster support by identifying current legislative barriers. For instance, military leadership did not fully comprehend the authority obtained under the IRA provision, which delayed military aid and assistance during Hurricane Katrina (Leshinsky, 2006). This poem was written following the disastrous Battle of Balaklava, between the British Light Brigade forces and the Russian forces (Connors 3). Alfred Lord Tennyson wrote this poem to commemorate the lives lost, and it seems to be littered with Biblical allusions. Specifically, this poem has striking diction similarity to Psalm 23 from the King James Version of the Bible. This discovery spurs the question of whether Alfred Lord Tennyson was directly influenced by the Psalm, and if so, in what way? The Charge of the Light Brigade was written when Lord Tennyson learned of the carnage at the decisive and devastating Battle of Balaklava for the British. The battle was initiated when the overall commander of British forces, Lord Raglan, ordered the Light Brigade to follow but not to attack the Russian enemy. Through the chain of command, this message was distorted and then one of the commanders, Lord Nolan, drove the final nail in the coffin as he ambiguously ordered the troops to seize the Russian guns as he gestured in the general direction of both the hilltop redoubts and the adjacent valley (Connors 2). • 25. Leno Amendment Research Paper 6902 families have been evicted from San Francisco in 22 years. This isn t counting the hundreds of other cities across California, and the number of families is only rising, and the Ellis Act is to blame. Established in 1985, is a California law that allows landlords to evict tenants when they are close to becoming bankrupt, or are currently bankrupt. However, the landlords who utilize the law are often in neither situation. Due to the growing controversy, Senator Mark Leno has proposed an amendment to the original act in order to combat the blatant greed that amassed over 30 years. Despite its flaws, the Leno Amendment is the right step for California, as it will not only please the landlords, but their tenants as well. In 1985, California ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Leno Amendment can help solve some of the issues that surround the act, by imposing new restrictions and regulations that will hopefully reduce the number of casualties . In imposing fines for violations of the act and limiting the number of times the act can be enforced, California is headed in the right direction. However, it has some missteps, such as the lack of time extension for evicted tenants to find new homes. Despite this, the Leno Amendment is the right choice for California. As the Leno Amendment attempts to aid the financial situation of the tenants by giving them more time to relocate, as well as being paid relocation fees, the state of California is attempting to even out the wealth gap. The landlords gained the most money and made up smaller, but wealthier end of the spectrum, whereas the tenants gained the least, and made up the poor majority while the Ellis Act is in place. However, with the aid of the Leno Amendment, California is not only addressing the issue of greed and high tenant evictions, it is also taking a progressive step forward in the fight against the wealth ... The Forbidden City, one of the most famous and important buildings in China, was the imperial palace from the Ming dynasty to the end of the Qing dynasty (1420 1912). It is located in the centre of Beijing, China, now serves as the Palace Museum. When Hongwu Emperor s son Zhu Di became the emperor, he moved the capital from Nanjing to Beijing and began to build the Forbidden City in 1406[1]. As a palace, the Forbidden City is incredibly huge, it is 961 metres (3,153 ft.) from north to south and 753 metres (2,470 ft.) from east to west [1], it consists 980 buildings [2] and was designed to be the centre of the old city of Beijing. The Forbidden City has a huge impact on the cultural and architecture development in the eastern world, as the culmination of the two thousand years development of Chinese architecture culture and one of the most important symbols of China, it impacts the eastern Asia or even the entire eastern world. • 34. Examples Of Materialism In A Perfect Day For Bananafish John Steinbeck suggests that to a monster the norm must seem monstrous, since everyone is normal to himself . Just as some people are born missing limbs or with another physical birth defect, such as a birthmark, others could be born missing a trait vital to communicate with the world around them or lose a trait throughout the course of their life. Although this missing trait is not visible to others in society, does not mean it is any less serious. For instance, Seymour has a severe case of PTSD after returning from war that causes his actions to seem abnormal to those around him, even his family. Furthermore, Seymour finds that the actions of those around him, the materialistically obsessed, are difficult for him to cope with. In J.D. Salinger s A Perfect Day for Bananafish , Salinger depicts how life is for the monsters like Seymour in such a materialistic society. Seymour, a seemingly normal man to the naked eye, is secluded from the world around him. Searching for an escape from such an uninviting society, Seymour takes some big grasps for help before committing to his eventual demise. Salinger begins his depiction of Seymour through disdain before he brings the audience to his heart breaking conclusion. According to the research in 2011, Mashau learned that a person would be seen as stupid, rural, and sophisticated without participating in premarital sex as his/her peers. The Benefits Of Geothermal Energy Throughout history, society has been looking for ways to increase renewable energy to provide better resources to replace fossil fuels to reduce carbon footprints. The earth is a great source of natural energy therefore thermal energy is one of the most abundant resources. There are many types of renewable energy, such as sunlight, wind, rain, tides, waves, and geothermal heat. Geothermal heat renewable energy converts natural heat into electricity resources. Geothermal energy represents the inner heat of the earth s core. Geothermal energy is mainly produced by decays of radioactive elements in the mantle and the center of the earth s layers. Heat is constantly flowing from the Earth center to the surface creating a great source of natural energy. These geothermal power plants drill wells into geothermal tanks to transfer hot water and steam from the earth s core to the surface. One great advantage of geothermal energy is that using the resources of water and steam, you are able to reuse and pump back the supplies into the ground. Another perk of using geothermal energy is that the energy is clean. Geothermal energy is environmental friendly because the power plants don t use fossil fuels. Nice claim, bad explanation. Spinoza s staunch, pantheistic monist view of the world establishes that the mind and body are not separate entities in themselves, but only two of an infinite amount of attributes of the same and only substance in existence God. One can relate this reasoning to two attributes of a red hot poker red and hot. Does this entail that red and hot are always dependent on a poker and that they are in essence the same thing? Although this is not a likely conclusion, Spinoza raises the important question of how far we can analytically separate parts of a world that are always interacting with each other. Try getting a metal poker to glow red without heating it, or heating a poker without eventually having it glow red. This is improbable, albeit possible in theory. APPLICATION OF CRISPR TECHNOLOGY Neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer s disease, Parkinson s disease(PD) and Huntington s disease (HD), have some common characteristics like the age dependent gathering of misfolded proteins and selective neurodegeneration. Animal models are highly valued and have been used widely to study neurological disorders and to find therapeutic aims for them. Because genetic DNA mutations can cause several neurodegenerative diseases, the ability of CRISPR/Cas9 to directly target any gene in one or two alleles of the embryonic genome opens a new route for using this new technology producing animal models of neurodegenerative diseases. The traditional gene targeting technology made it difficult to establish large animal models of human diseases due to the lack of embryonic stem cell lines. Since large animals are closer to humans, their disease models may more faithfully mimic the clinical symptoms of patients and are important for exploring the mechanisms and treatment of both neuropsychiatric disorders and age related neurodegenerative diseases. CRISPR/Cas9 was found to functionally disrupt the dystrophin gene in founder monkeys and causes the same muscle atrophy phenotype seen in patients. England was in constant unrest, choosing new forms of government almost on a whim in desperate attempts to restore order in the Country. The English Civil War in 1642 etched a legacy of dread in the people of England, and the war only appeared more disastrous and fruitless when it became apparent the new Puritanical regime was just as irresponsible as the previous regime by Charles I and his predecessor James I. The three songs from this period that exemplify popular music s role in calling for positive change regarding civil rights included We Shall Overcome by Southern African American tobacco workers, Ain t Gonna Let Nobody Turn Me Round by Freedom Singers, and People Get Ready by Curtis Mayfield. This song was emblematic of the civil rights period. Fundamentally, the song accompanied the protests and explored the labor conditions for Southern African American tobacco workers.
