The Mayans were an ancient civilization that have a huge influence in the world.  They were formed near 2400 BC and sadly ended near 900 AD. They Mayans started something that would help the world and make it better for the future.
The Mayans praised many different gods and goddesses.  They believed in the gods of nature to help them grow crops and make their life better. They had gods for everything.  They believed in the heavens and the underworld.  They usually do ceremonies to keep the demons away.  The priest played a high role in religion by deciding who to sacrifice, who to marry and when to grow crops.
 
The Mayans had a noble for every city.  He chose his warriors and councilmen.  The nobles and priest ran the city basically together.  If the noble died, the son was take over.
The Mayans lived in what is now southern Mexico, western Honduras, northern El Salvador, Guatemala and Belize.
The Huastecan language was spoken in the Mexican states and is one of the modern languages. It’s similar to Chicomuceltec.  The Quichean-Mamean languages were spoken at near the Guatemala highlands.  Ch'olan was spoken in what is now El Salvador and western Honduras.  The Mayans had many different languages that were all connected to each other.
The social class was divided into three main classes. One was the royalty, the other was wealthy and the poor class.  The royals would live in huge palaces and the would the wealth class.  The poor class with live in hut in the town.  They had many different people like priests, nobles, nobles, craftsmen, and warriors.  The nobles and priest were the ones on top.  The middle class was the craftsmen, traders and warriors. They poor class had farmers, slaves and other workers.
The agriculture of the Mayans was very different.  They believed that once they used a field or land and they’re finished with it, they would shift to another place.  No one really knows why they did that but some people believe it’s not true, too.  The Mayans always had food and were good at planting and farming.  They had food for everyone.
The Mayans constructed many things, Most of them can be seen today.  They had several of construction work like ceremonial platforms which were 14 feet long.  They would have many different religious ceremonial there. It was usually made from limestone.  The palaces were very decorated.
They were usually big and the center of the whole city. The pyramids played a big part in the Mayan culture.  They were used for burials.  They pyramids would usually be pointed to the sky because it usually meant so the person in there can reach heaven.
