The NAP Technical Working Group will engage the national team of Malawi as well as other countries, to work through practical aspects of the application of the development-centred approach, integrating sectoral issues into a national plan, and synergy with relevant processes. The session will discuss the Open NAP case study of Malawi. This will be followed by a panel discussion of the countries that have completed their NAPs, to learn about their process for the formulation, best practices and next steps.

Open approaches to OER impact research Robert Farrow
In this session the work of OER Research Hub is outlined and the merits of open approaches to understanding impact are discussed. OER Research Hub(funded by the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation) works internationally in collaboration with a range of research partners to assess impact across different education profiles. This often requires rethinking methodological assumptions or working in adaptive and responsive ways in order to facilitate sharing of impact data. OER Research Hub thus uses open methods to investigate the impact of OER on education and learning. Open forms of dissemination employed include open access publication, blogging, open release of research data and research tools, open online courses and the OER Impact Map, which draws together data relating to our research hypotheses and shows how a plurality of content can be brought together through data visualisation and graphical mapping. In addition to discussing how some of these techniques might be used to assess impact in other areas I will present some of the headline findings from the project.

The Knowledge Exchange is a partnership of six national
organisations within Europe. As part of its ambition to make
Open Scholarship work, the Knowledge Exchange has developed
a Framework for Open Scholarship. This sets out the different
phases in the research life cycle against a variety of perspectives
that present barriers/challenges for Science/Scholarship to
be open, at the same time acknowledging that there are many
levels of stakeholders, reaching from individual researchers to
institutions to national governments. In this talk the presenters
will explain the partnership and share their recent report and
current work around Open Scholarship.
