Jesus had a last supper with his disciples before his crucifixion, where he washed their feet to teach them humility, gave them a new commandment to love one another, and promised to send the Holy Spirit to be with them. He explained that he was preparing a place for them in his Father's house and that he was the way to the Father. Jesus then broke bread and shared wine with them, saying it was his body and blood, which would be poured out for the forgiveness of sins.
