I AM
John 14:1-6
John 14:1-6 - “Don’t let your
hearts be troubled. Trust in
God, and trust also in me.
2There is more than enough
roomin my Father’s home. If
this were not so, would I have told
you that I am going to prepare a place
for you? 3When everything is ready, I
will come and get you, so that you will
always be with me where I am.
4And you know the way to
where I am going.” 5“No,
we don’t know, Lord,”
Thomas said. “We have no
idea whereyou are going, so how can we know
the way?” 6Jesus told him, “I am the
way, the truth, and the life. No one can
come to the Father except through me.

Why Was Jesus Comforting
His Disciples?
1. A Lesson in Humility
John 13:4-5 - So he got up
from the table, took off his
robe, wrapped a towel around
his waist, 5and poured water into a
basin. Then he began to wash the
disciples’ feet, drying them with the
towel he had around him. NLT

1. A Lesson in Humility
2. Jesus was Troubled and
announced a Betrayer
John 13:21-22 - Now Jesus
was deeply troubled, and he
exclaimed, “I tell you the
truth, one of you will betray me!" 22The
disciples looked at each
other, wondering whom he could
mean. NLT

3. He is leaving and they can’t
follow Him now
John 13:33 - Dear children, I
will be with you only a little
longer. And as I told the
Jewish leaders, you will search for
me, but you can’t come where I am
going. NLT

3. Jesus is leaving and the
disciples can’t follow
4. Jesuspredicts Peter’s denial
John 13:36-38 - Simon Peter
asked, “Lord, where are you
going?” And Jesus replied,
“You can’t go with me now, but you
will follow me later.” 37“But why
can’t I come now, Lord?” he asked.
“I’m ready to die for you.”
38Jesus answered, “Die for
me? I tell you the truth, Peter
—before the rooster crows tomorrow
morning, you will deny three times
that you even know me. NLT
Matthew 6:33-34 - Seek the
Kingdom of God above all
else, and live righteously, and
he will give you everything
you need. 34“So don’t worry about
tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its
own worries. Today’s trouble is
enough for today. NLT
Jesus’ separation would not
be permanent
John 14:2-3 - There is more
than enough room in my
Father’s home. If this were not
so, would I have told you
that I am going to prepare a place for
you? 3When everything is ready, I will
come and get you, so that you will
always be with me where I am. NLT
John 17:24 - Father, I want
these whom you have given
me to be with me where I am.
Then they can see all the glory you
gave me because you loved me even
before the world began! NLT
Revelation 21:3-4 - I heard a
loud shout from the throne,
saying, “Look, God’s home is
now among his people! God
himself will be with them. 4He will
wipe every tear from their eyes, and
there will be no more death or sorrow
or crying or pain. All these things are
gone forever.” NLT
Jesus’ coming back to take
us home is the
Rapture
1 Corinthians 15:51-54 - But
let me reveal to you a
wonderful secret. We will not
all die, but we will all be
transformed! 52It will happen in a
moment, in the blink of an eye, when
the last trumpet is blown. For when
the trumpet sounds, those who have
died will be raised to live forever.
And we who are living will also
be transformed. 53For our
dying bodies must be
transformed into bodies that will never
die; our mortal bodies must be
transformed into immortal bodies.
54Then, when our dying bodies
have been transformed into
bodies that will never die,
this Scripture will be fulfilled: “Death
is swallowed up in victory. NLT
