Agile at Newsweaver (Agile Cork March 2016)Pierre Vincent
Agile is about continuous improvement, not only for the product we are building but for own process as well. In this talk, Pierre will go through the evolution of the processes used over the last few years at Newsweaver (https://www.newsweaver.com/email-overview), from a large iteration based development approach, to Scrum and more recently Kanban, DevOps and Continuous Delivery.
Talk given at Agile Cork on March 15th 2016
Learn the basics of the agile way-of-life that has helped many companies realize their potential in the market. The agile secret sauce was once a thing that was only enjoyed by software organizations on the East and West coasts, but is now invading Indianapolis -- increasing productivity, making teams empowered (and happier!), and helping managers focus less on the taskmaster role and more on the important stuff.
The Future Present of Scrum (Agile Tour Dublin 2016)Gunther Verheyen
Scrum starts with Done. The Future Present of Scrum is to start enacting Scrum.
At the Agile Tour Dublin 2016 Gunther Verheyen, seasoned Scrum practitioner, discussed the past and current challenge of Scrum of creating Done Increments, and the future challenge to start enacting Scrum.

Session Abstract: The success of an agile transformation is embedded when “doing agile” shifts to ” being agile”. This is when the true power of agile teams and execution is experienced. It not limited to increased velocity or improved quality but the outcomes are far more meaningful. The deliveries are business focused with faster value unlock, the solutions and designs are robust and sustainable to meet the needs of an ever-changing environment & the teams are self-organized units thinking cohesively, sensing collectively and responding to change. The session will focus on how to unleash this hidden power of agile!
Key Takeaways:
1. What does Being agile truly means?
2. Doing agile and Being agile are different and how?
3. What to consider when driving transformations to unlock the power of agile teams for exponential outcomes?
4. What to practice to unlock the power of agile teams
5. How to build and sustain exponential outcomes – its a culture not a practice.

How to reduce product release cycles down to 4 weeks – Youssif AsfourAgile Tour Beirut
At one company, we were asked to re-architect our business and operations support system to invoice clients “in advance” instead of “in the arrears” – and we succeed in doing that – despite the complexity of the business – in less than four weeks. At another software company, we were able to reduce the product release cycle from 2 years down to 4 weeks. In this talk, I will share the “tricks” and techniques we used to create an agile environment – people, process and systems – to deliver high quality products in 4 week cycles

The introduction of re-vers-ify at the Agilia 2017 conference in Oloumoc (Czech Republic).
About re-vers-ify:
When working with people and organisations, I always revert to the simplest and most core basics of Scrum, regardless how Scrum has, or has not, been adopted, or the scale of operations. It takes a lot of imagination to picture Scrum being employed according to its design while exciting people greatly at the same time. Over and over I observe how imagination can set an organisation apart. I believe that any organisation can be re.imagined, re.vers.ified using Scrum, to exploit its intrinsic potential to innovate.

Revolut is known for its fast product development. Vaidas learned the way they work while leading Revolut Business. They did not "use LeSS". But for sure they used many practices that LeSS advocates for. When he joined Uncapped as a Chief Product Officer, he had a chance to build organizational structure, culture, and ways of working from scratch. Vaidas summarized it in this article early days of this journey. In this talk, he will share more details of the lessons learned, LeSS practices they used (without calling them LeSS), and why everyone willing to build a Unicorn should learn LeSS as early as possible.

The case study discusses the potential of drone delivery and the challenges that need to be addressed before it becomes widespread.
Key takeaways:
Drone delivery is in its early stages: Amazon's trial in the UK demonstrates the potential for faster deliveries, but it's still limited by regulations and technology.
Regulations are a major hurdle: Safety concerns around drone collisions with airplanes and people have led to restrictions on flight height and location.
Other challenges exist: Who will use drone delivery the most? Is it cost-effective compared to traditional delivery trucks?
Discussion questions:
Managerial challenges: Integrating drones requires planning for new infrastructure, training staff, and navigating regulations. There are also marketing and recruitment considerations specific to this technology.
External forces vary by country: Regulations, consumer acceptance, and infrastructure all differ between countries.
Demographics matter: Younger generations might be more receptive to drone delivery, while older populations might have concerns.
Stakeholders for Amazon: Customers, regulators, aviation authorities, and competitors are all stakeholders. Regulators likely hold the greatest influence as they determine the feasibility of drone delivery.

3. It is a scaled up one Team scrum framework, that can
be applied to multiple agile teams consisting of
hundreds or even thousands of individuals which are
focused towards building one large or small sized
products.
4. It is a simple, minimalistic, lean and transparent
framework that has less enforcement of rules,
processes and maintains focus on having visibility
into the work being done to create the solution.
5. Participants Cross-functional and self-

6. Execution
in LeSS
There is a single Product Backlog
from where items are selected.
The selected items are
discussed by the team.
Planning is done on how to
complete those items in order to
achieve the sprint goals.

3
4 Sprints are started that could
last for 1-4 weeks. A deliverable
product is created in every
sprint iteratively and
incrementally.
7. A product backlog refinement
session is done where the
customer and the teams discuss
how the existing requirements
can be improved or if new
requirements should be added.
DevOps and Continuous
Integration ensures smooth
delivery to the customer where
a deliverable is a shippable
increment at the end of every
sprint.

8. Highlights
One Definition of Done for all
teams.
There are two types of
implementing LesS.
Basic LeSS that has up to eight
teams (of eight people each).
and LeSS Huge is for up to a few
thousand people on one
product. Items are in basic LeSS
while Epics exist in LeSS Huge.

9. Teams are feature-oriented and
regularly integrate their work
with one another that helps in
reducing dependencies.

Daily Scrum is held
independently by each Team,
though a member of Team A
may observe Team B’s Daily
Scrum, to increase information
sharing.
4
10. There are design and
architecture workshops to align
synergy across all the teams and
focus towards the end product.

Frequent retrospectives and
inspect and adapt sessions
done to ensure continuous
improvement.
6
11. 7 There is also a retrospective
where all the teams, product
owners, scrum masters and the
management work to
understand any impediments
that affect the delivery of the
product. Teams regularly have
their own retrospectives,
reviewing what is done to
continuously improve.
