2. Some challenges before a Scrum Master
 Ensuring transparency of artifacts
 Organizing inspections
 Sensing patterns in either the work being executed or team behavior
 Listening closely to words not being said by the team
 Removing impediments

3. Sprint Planning
 The Sprint Plan typically lasts for 8 hours for a 1 month sprint
 During planning the team crafts out a sprint goal
 Sprint Backlog = Product Backlog items selected for the sprint

All that needs to be done to deliver the items
 At the end of planning the team has a plan as to who will do what or how the
team would self organize
 The team is expected to meet after the Daily Scrum for more detailed discussions

4. Definition of Done
 Criteria which determines whether a backlog item is ready for Production
 Even if there are multiple teams there is only a single “Definition of Done”

5. Additional Scrum Master duties
 Coaching other teams in the organization
 Finding ways and means to increase a team’s productivity and value
 Working with other Scrum Masters
 Striving to create a truly self-organizing team where the Scrum Master presence is
not always essential
 Creating a perfectly cross-functional Scrum team
 Getting out of the Project Manager mindset and becoming a Servant-Leader

6. Characteristics of the Sprint Backlog
 It can change throughout the Sprint
 Only the Sprint team can modify it
 Work can get added or removed from it
 The Sprint goal cannot change if true Scrum is being followed

7. Product Backlog Refinement
 Getting Product Backlog items ready for a sprint
 An item is made ready by doing the following:
 Adding more detail to Product Backlog items
 Adding estimates to Product Backlog items
 Ordering the items

8. Sprint Reviews and Retrospectives
Sprint Review
 4 hours duration for a 1 month sprint
 Attendees include the team and all
stakeholders
 Occurs at the end of the sprint
 Feedback is gathered on the product
under development
 Product backlog pruning and prioritizing
could happen
Sprint Retrospective
 3 hours for a 1 month sprint
 Attendees include the Scrum team and
those whom the team invites
 Occurs after the demo
 Feedback is gathered on the process used
by the Scrum team
 The “Definition of Done” is refined
