This document summarizes the process undertaken by a committee at Vanderbilt University to develop recommendations for advancing digital literacy among faculty. The committee interviewed department chairs and developed a working definition of digital literacy. They recommended a badge system to recognize three prongs of digital literacy: critical thinking, digital production, and computational thinking. The badges could be earned through classes, workshops, or demonstrated skills. Additional recommendations included making digital tools and support available, producing instructional videos, and emphasizing digital literacy in faculty development programs. NSF Data Management Plan - Implications for Librarians

NSF Data Management Plan - Implications for Librarians

Organizational Implications of Data Science Environments in Education, Resear...
Data science (DS) poses key organizational challenges for academic institutions. DS is a multidisciplinary field that includes a range of research methodologies and fields of inquiry. DS as a domain is interested in many of the same issues as libraries: data access and curation, reproducibility, the value of ontologies, and open scholarship. At the same time, identifying opportunities to collaborate and deploy unified services can be challenging. The Data Science Environment (DSE) program, co-funded by the Gordon and Betty Moore and Alfred P. Sloan foundations, provides resources to help universities develop collaborations between researchers, develop tools in DS, and create new career paths for data scientists. Working groups within the DSE focus on reproducibility, career paths, education/training, research methods, space issues, and software/tools. This program has introduced new opportunities for libraries to explore how to engage with this community and consider how to bring the expertise in the DS community to bear on library missions and goals. In this panel, program members from each of the three partner universities, the University of Washington, New York University and the University of California, Berkeley, consider the research questions of the DSE and the organizational impact of these groups in the University as a whole and for the libraries specifically. The panel will employ a case-study presentation model framed through three lenses: the role of data sciences in information science, the
potential career paths for data scientists in libraries, and the potential
amplification of information services (e.g. data curation, institutional repositories, scholarly publishing).

Academic engagement - Carole Rhodes University of Liverpool
The University of Liverpool launched its Reading Lists @ Liverpool system in September 2013 with 1,700 imported reading lists. While library staff initially created the lists, the goal was to engage academics and faculty to take ownership of the lists. A success project from July 2013 to July 2014 engaged liaison librarians, provided training, and used advocates and marketing to encourage faculty adoption of the system. Evaluating early feedback found that students responded positively and faculty saw benefits when lists integrated with other university systems. Continued effort focused on gaining support from different subject areas and addressing varying challenges to wider reading list adoption.
Institutional Repository Exploratory Committee update 8/31/11
The Institutional Repository Exploratory Committee (IREC) at Mott Community College researched the concept of institutional repositories and their potential benefits. IREC is comprised of faculty and staff from various departments. They attended demonstrations of repositories at other Michigan universities to learn about software options, policies, and lessons learned. IREC will make a recommendation to the college president in November on whether MCC should implement a repository to showcase faculty, staff and student work and make it accessible worldwide. Key considerations include costs, stakeholders, and potential collections.

It is not new to say that the scholarly communication system is sick. One way to put it is that the publishers have built a paywall around the papers written by our faculty and make us librarians pay for it.
For years, Open Access via the green and gold route have been touted as a joint solution. To this end, as academic librarians, we focused on building institutional repositories and getting open access mandates. However, recently, many prominent members of the open access community have begun to express doubts about the viability of institutional repositories as a solution given the lack of success.
Some, like Stevan Harnad self-dubbed “Open Access Archivangelist” for Green Open access, claim to have given up, while others, like Eric Van de Velde, suggest that we rethink other ways to accomplish Green Open access beyond just institutional repositories. In this webinar, we will summarise all the arguments and attempt to give a librarian’s point of view about the future of IRs.I

Introducing BibApp 1.0

There are 4 phases of wound healing: hemostasis, inflammation, proliferation, and remodeling. This document also describes the mechanism of wound healing. Factors that affect healing include infection, uncontrolled diabetes, poor nutrition, age, anemia, the presence of foreign bodies, etc.
Complications of wound healing like infection, hyperpigmentation of scar, contractures, and keloid formation.

Angular Measurements: Instruments used; Introduction to Compass Surveying, Bearings and Longitude & Latitude of a Line, Introduction to total station.
Levelling: Instrument used Object of levelling, Methods of levelling in brief, and Contour maps.

Buildings: Selection of site for Buildings, Layout of Building Plan, Types of buildings, Plinth area, carpet area, floor space index, Introduction to building byelaws, concept of sun light & ventilation. Water Pollution: Water Quality standards, Introduction to Treatment & Disposal of Waste Water. Reuse and Saving of Water, Rain Water Harvesting.
