Selling Medical Ultrasound Technology in Asia
A surprising ethical dilemma arose for a young engineer during his first business trip to Asia to work with customers of his company’s ultrasound imaging technology. On the
long airplane ride, Pat was dutifully reading a travel book to learn more about Korean and Chinese cultures when he was shocked to learn how ultrasound technologies were
being used in these countries. A technology that he had always considered to be a way
to help people by diagnosing disease was being commonly used to intentionally
identify and terminate pregnancies when the fetus was female. As an engineer, Pat had
been trained to be passionate about innovation and problem solving. He was used to
thinking about these technologies as innovative high-tech solutions to serious health
problems. He was also committed to developing higher-quality, more efficient,
affordable devices so that they could be used more widely. It had never occurred
to him that in some Asian cultures, where overpopulation combined with a strong
patriarchal culture led to a preference for sons over daughters, this technology that he
considered to be innovative, helpful, and supportive of people’s well-being might be
used to eliminate female lives.
As ultrasound technology has advanced and become more available, it has been
used more widely in decisions to abort female fetuses in favor of sons. After some

According to the 'Longevity gene' responsible for more efficient DNA repair, the longevity gene consists of SIRT6 which is a protein found within the DNA of different organisms. In mice, the protein is weaker than in a beaver, which is why a beaver lives longer than a mouse. With this finding, researchers are trying to see whether species like whales, that can live up to 200 years, have stronger SIRT6 proteins than humans. Many scientists aren't using their findings to live until 200, but instead to delay diseases like cancer and dementia. That being said, gene transplants may not cure diseases but may delay them. I think gene manipulation could have consequences because it allows mutations to be made within DNA which would present new health problems. Also if it did work, I imagine the process would not be cheap and people who had degenerative diseases wouldn't be able to get it done when they are the ones who need it most. Other than safety and equality, other ethical considerations include, consent. Many families may have children with disabilities and some will begin to think that swapping around genes is what's best for the child, but isn't like changing clothes it is something that would affect the entire being. In addition to this, scientists may want to experiment with embryos rather than adults or children. There are many different beliefs surrounding human embryos for experimentation though. I feel that some resources should be devoted to gene resources to become more familiar with the idea of gene manipulating, but I do think that there should still be sufficient funds to provide Medicare to people who aren't able to get good health insurance. I think the possibility to help people live longer and postpone degenerative diseases would be a breakthrough in the health and science industry. I think if it worked out, there could be a reduction in expenses for nursing care because people would be able to live longer and healthier lives. Although at some point, there would be just as many people in nursing homes due to the fact that people don't live forever even with gene manipulation. There just may be a few decades that the numbers decrease greatly in nursing homes before they even back out to what they were before the breakthrough. The idea of helping others live longer healthier lives sounds great, but this is a lot of reasearh and experimentation that needs to be done. Also those who need the procedure should be granted access to it rather than only the wealthy.

What is Polyamory?
Polyamory is a form of consensual non-monogamy that emphasizes emotional and sexual intimacy with multiple partners simultaneously. It emphasizes consciously choosing how many partners one wishes to be involved with rather than accepting social norms which dictate loving only one person at a time.
An open relationship is a relationship where the parties are free to take new partners. The terms both fall under the heading of “ethical non-monogamy,” but they are not synonymous.

Things You Need to Know About Cervical Health Awareness MonthDr. Martha Tara Lee
January is Cervical Health Awareness Month. ❤️
We think it’s important to share information about how one can protect themselves from HPV (human papillomavirus) and cervical cancer.
HPV is a very common infection that spreads through sexual activity, and it causes almost all cases of cervical cancer.
✔️ Get vaccinated against HPV.
The most common form of the vaccine protects against two types of HPV that cause 70% of cervical cancers: types 16 and 18. The vaccine also protects against four other high-risk types (6, 11, 16, and 18).
✔️ Talk with your doctor or nurse about the HPV vaccine.
The HPV vaccine is recommended for those aged 11-12. It is given in three doses over six months. The vaccine protects against most types of HPV that cause both cervical cancer and genital warts. It’s safe and effective when given at the recommended age.
👉 Early detection is key to preventing cervical cancer.
We hope this post has given you a better understanding of what cervical health awareness month is, why it’s important, and how to take control of your own health. The more informed we are, the more we can do for ourselves. And remember: don’t be afraid to ask questions!

Leading Their Authentic Lives 😍
Many years ago before I began my training to be a Sexologist, I was on a movie date with my Australian boyfriend.
We were riding on a downward escalator when two men who looked like a couple came towards us on the side of the upriding escalator.
I nudged my date to get his attention and to take note of the two men. When he ignored me, I nudged him again.
When they passed us, he turned to me and asked: "Why did you do that?"
Me: "What do you mean? I was trying to get you to notice that gay couple."
Him: "So what? So what if they're gay? Leave them alone. Let them lead their lives."
The moment he said that, I felt like I was slapped in the face and I asked myself this for a long time after: "Yeah why did I do that?" 😥
I did it without any thought. I did it because I've had people do that to me as if it's a joke.
Why would being gay be a joke?
Even if they were dressed funny, it's not right to make other feel uncomfortable. But of course, their lives are not a joke to them.
Making fun of others is not funny. It's rude and cruel.
Those two men would have wanted to go about their day without having people point, stare, laugh, mock, or talk behind their back just as I wouldn't want to happen to me.
So why did I do that to others?
When did I become the bully?
I realised I was so wrong but I didn't know what to say or how to redress it.
Years later, when my now ex-boyfriend and I caught up, I recounted that incident and thanked him for calling me out on my unconscious behaviour and promised him that I have learned since and don't do that anymore.
If anything it helped me realise we are all leading programmed and unconscious lives not questioning if what we were brought up to do and say is still right, fair or relevant. If anything that incident helped me realise my privilege of having had more exposure and fueled my desire to advocate for LGBT people.
To that date, I remain embarrassed about my behaviour in that incident, but I feel it is important to share this story. We do hurt others in our micro aggressions and it's not ok to hurt others. We are all humans sharing similar human experiences, and what we can do is be kind to one another - not just tolerate, be kind and loving. Because being loving is in our nature.
I encourage you to work through your LGBT bias and ignorance if you can as I have been. LGBT people aren't people from an alien planet. ❤
They are all around us. They are our friends, family members and esteemed members of our society. When one suffers, we all suffer.

I’m glad and relieved! During the National Day Rally on 21st August 2022, Singapore’s Prime Minister announced that the government will repeal Section 377A! Homosexuality has been a long-standing issue, and this historic news is a huge win for the LGBTQ+ community.
Sexual orientation or gender identity does not make one any less than heterosexuals nor dangerous.
Nobody should be made to feel as such.
🌈 LGBT people come from families just like heterosexuals.
🌈 LGBT people want, need and deserve love from their families just like heterosexuals.
🌈 LGBT people do express love and do support their families just like heterosexuals.
🌈 Some LGBT people can and do stay in committed relationships and marriages just like heterosexuals.
🌈 Some LGBT people can and do want to have children just like heterosexuals.
🌈 Some LGBT people might choose to use birth surrogates just like heterosexuals.
🌈 Some LGBT people might choose to adopt children just like heterosexuals.
🌈 Some LGBT people can and do make good parents just like heterosexuals.
🌈 Above all else, LGBT people are people.
The ability to lead our lives the way we want is part of being part of any independent state.
Just as heterosexuals want to have the freedom to eat, live, breathe, work, love, and mate so do our LGBT friends. 🌈
Finally! 😍 Singapore’s Prime Minister announced that the government will repeal Section 377A! Homosexuality has been a long-standing issue, and this historic news is a huge win for the LGBTQ+ community.
Love is Love ❤
Many years ago when Pink Dot Singapore was in its first few years, I asked a friend if he was going.
He shared that he was just about to donate towards Pink Dot when a friend asked him, "Would you support Pink Dot if your child was gay?"
He revealed that question made him pause and think about whether he should support Pink Dot because apparently it's one thing to support others yet another when it directly affects him or his family.
I didn't say anything then but I do wonder to this date what I could or should have said.
Perhaps I should have asked:
"Do you think being LGBT is a choice?" and left it as it was.
Maybe I could invite him to consider:
"The same reasons you would support Pink Dot would be the reasons you would support your child."
Or maybe something more vague like:
"Love is love. Does it matter?"
Would your stance be different outwardly (others) vs internally (at home)?
What would you have said?
Do you identify as an ally?
Do you proactively educate yourself on how to be one?

What You Need to Know about Sexual Harassment in SingaporeDr. Martha Tara Lee
Research has shown a quarter of Singaporean women and one in ten men have experienced sexual harassment, while only half reported the incident or even mentioned it to another person.
If you are a victim, it’s important not to let any feelings of embarrassment or fear of repercussion prevent you from seeking help and justice. While sexual harassment is not explicitly defined by the law, it is covered by the broader Protection from Harassment Act.

Getting a tattoo is like purchasing art, and it could also be an extension of themselves. Also, the type of work or how largely it spans all over the body can also be an attention grabber to some. Drivers behind the fascination of acquiring a tattoo may fall into four main groups, namely healing, affiliation, art and fashion.
Why We Shouldn't Judge People with Tattoos
1. Having a tattoo is never a factor of intelligence, worth, or value.
2. Tattoos are beautiful and considered art.
3. A tattoo shouldn't stop you from getting a job because it doesn't stop your performance.

As somebody who works with Vaginismus clients since 2009, I was very excited when I first saw then was able to test this vibrator.
It is smaller than one smallest finger/ bullet vibrator. The body is rigid. This vibrates but the vibration isn't too strong - can also be used on/off.

2 Case Reports of Gastric Ultrasound
The prostate is an exocrine gland of the male mammalian reproductive system
It is a walnut-sized gland that forms part of the male reproductive system and is located in front of the rectum and just below the urinary bladder
Function is to store and secrete a clear, slightly alkaline fluid that constitutes 10-30% of the volume of the seminal fluid that along with the spermatozoa, constitutes semen
A healthy human prostate measures (4cm-vertical, by 3cm-horizontal, 2cm ant-post ).
It surrounds the urethra just below the urinary bladder. It has anterior, median, posterior and two lateral lobes
It’s work is regulated by androgens which are responsible for male sex characteristics
Generalised disease of the prostate due to hormonal derangement which leads to non malignant enlargement of the gland (increase in the number of epithelial cells and stromal tissue)to cause compression of the urethra leading to symptoms (LUTS

June 2015 - A group of scientists of the famous State Research Center of Virology and
Biotechnology VECTOR, based in Koltsovo, Russia, announced this morning that they
had successfully given life to the first human baby grown entirely in vitro and created
from reprogrammed stem cells.
“This is a very exciting advance and it’s also very tantalising in terms of the wider fields
of medicine and science,” says the famous genetician, Dr. Аlexei Nicolaïevitch Ivanov,
who directs the project. “The ability to create an entire human being from simple cells,
in a lab, is definitely one of the ‘holy grails’ in medicine. This is a major breakthrough!
For the first time, we literally created intelligent life from scratch!”

large numbers of us conceive of our children.”

32. Testosterone Levels in Men Decline
Over Past Two Decades, Study
Shows
• Testosterone levels in American men have been declining
steadily over the past two decades, a new study in the
Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism
concludes.
• The reasons for this decline are unclear; the study
suggests that neither aging nor changes in certain health
factors, such as obesity or smoking, can completely
explain the phenomenon.
• Testosterone levels in men peak around their late 20s, and
then begin a gradual decline from age 30 onward.
Testosterone also is present in women,
but at significantly lower levels.
34. • A decade, it is quite likely that the patient
seeking to alter their gender would start
by seeing their surgeon, who would take
a complete scan of the person.
• This scan would then be entered in to a
program that would allow the patient and
the surgeon to transform the patient’s
body into the precise appearance
desired. Once the body shape has been
defined, the program would determine
what changes would be needed, the
amounts and types of stem cell stocks
needed, the minimal surgery needed to
reroute the urinary tract, nerves, etc. and
then would proceed to extract the
samples needed to create stem cell
stocks.
Total Gender Change within a Decade

35. • It’s a vitally important area
of research, and as Wired
points out, with such
“frivolous” uses as breast
enhancement, and the
eventual penile
enhancement so close to
market, it’s going to be the
biggest medical money-
maker of the next decade.
Total Gender Change within a Decade
36. • Of the boys and girls seen in clinics
like Dr. Zucker’s, a high percentage—
up to 80% in a study of 44 gender-
dysphoric boys—grow up to be not
transgender, but bisexual, gay or
lesbian adults.
• Consider a 2011 study of 25
adolescents who had been gender
dysphoric as children, published in the
academic journal Clinical Child
Psychology and Psychiatry.
• Two girls who had undergone social
transitioning to boys—by taking on
male-typical appearances—regretted it
and struggled to detransition.
