Washington Tsunami Scenarios
Scientists have projected possible tsunami scenarios for coastal Oregon and Washington, based on the
human impact of the 2004 Sumatra and 2011 Japan tsunami. An earthquake along the Cascadia
subduction zone could be as large as the one that hit Japan lastMarch, and the tsunami could reach the
coast in 20 minutes (National Geographic Society [NGS], 1996). The tsunami could create a massive
catastrophe killing over 10,000 people during the summer since the evacuation centers are sparse and
some people have lower access to high ground (NGS, 1996). For instance, a resort town named Ocean
Shores lies on a low ground narrow peninsula and 5,500 people live there year round (NGS, 1996).
According to the National Geography Society (1996), a catastrophic

Rank Group Defies Brexit With Impressive Profit Increase
Rank Group defies Brexit with impressive profit increase While Brexit has rocked a number of major
online gambling industry names, it seems that Rank Group has managed to remain strong. In fact, it
can even be argued that Rank Group has gone beyond what it was expected financially speaking, as it
posted a profit increase of 15% during the financial year. Coming about through a fresh digital focused
strategy, it appears that Rank Group is defying doubters across the board. The report, which details
final results for the year to 30th June, shows that their profit before taxation was a very healthy £85.5
million, which is a notable increase on the £74.5 million posted the year prior. Revenue for Rank
Group also increased by 2% to £753 million. The figures show that, generally speaking, Rank Group
had a great year, but there was a negative to note amidst the report, as there was 2% dip in the group s
operating profits, as it came in at £82.4 million before exceptional items . Considering the positivity
surrounding Rank Group, Henry Birch (Rank Group Chief Executive) has been quick to comment on
the report, he said I am pleased to report a solid set of results with group revenue up 2%, again
recording like for like growth across all brands and channels in the year. This year we have focused on
delivering significant projects to ensure we have the right platform in place for future growth. This
included the migration of our digital business onto a new platform, the roll out

Submitted on: November 26, 2014 Discuss the structural factors which contributed to the onset of the
Arab Spring in 2011. Based on what you learned about the origins of revolutions in this class, was this
wave of contention inevitable?
The term Arab Spring has emerged in academic literature as well as in the general media from about
early 2011. It refers to the awakening of some Arab nations and the movements to replace
authoritarian regimes with democratic ones. The theme of spring and awakening seems to have been
borrowed from the 1989 reform movements in the former Eastern block nations, such as in the former
German Democratic Republic or Hungary. However, this comparison has been criticised by some
analysts since both the circumstances which have led to these movements as well as the outcome of
these reform efforts seem to differ quite a lot. Yet, the Arab Spring term seems to be still widely used
and even found an extension in the creation of the term Arab Winter which refers to events that
happened in 2012 in some Arab countries during which these reform movements seemed to have
cooled off and particular nations, such as Egypt, attempted to go back to the status quo of the pre 2011
era.
The term Arab Spring has been

Team Reflection Paper
Introduction When I was a freshman in high school, I had one of my worst group experiences within
my entire educational career. I was assigned a project in my World History course and was assigned to
a group with one of my best friends and two boys who were known for their lack of goals in school. I
wouldn t call this a team project because, due to the situation, it s obvious that we were not a team. It
was clear to my friend and I that this was going to be a tough process because we knew the history
that these two boys had with contributing to the work needed by each teammate. Both boys were well
known to the teachers as well because they were two of the high school s biggest troublemakers. One
would assume the situation could have been helped, but that is not that case. We began our project and
noticed that the boys preferred to talk about things that did not matter to the assignment and not to
begin working on their half of the project. In an attempt to bring their attention back to the task at
hand, we tried many things over one class period. First, we tried multiple times, just telling the boys
that we needed to get our work done, which failed every time and resulted in arguments. Then, we
decided to tell our teacher that we felt the boys were not willing to participate and were worried that
their disregard for the class and our team s goals would affect our individual grades for the project.
Instead of addressing the boys, our teacher decided that we would need to

My Auto-Ethnography Analysis
My auto ethnography encompassed a three day stretch (Thursday afternoon to Saturday afternoon) in
which I visited Boston to help celebrate my rabbi s installation as the first woman rabbi in New
England s largest Reform Jewish Synagogue (Temple Israel of Boston). As points of reference: this
particular rabbi was also the person who oversaw my conversation to Judaism and was particular
influential with guidance during some very rough life events. Also, I have remain in close contact with
both the Temple (as an institution) and its congregation (as a common group and subculture). For
example, I will be traveling up there again later on in the year to do some teaching. So this return to
Boston the same city/region where I did my undergrad and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Although I spent most of the morning and afternoon engaged with schoolwork, it was impossible not
to feel a growing excitement. The event at the Temple was an emotional milestone not only for the
installation itself (which made both local and nationwide news) but for my own return, as I hadn t
been back for a year. Few knew I would be there, so my arrival was met by surprise and heartfelt
fondness. Each individual meeting with friends, acquaintances and clergy came accompanied by deep
emotional tugs. Indeed, by the time I could talk to the now senior rabbi I was nearly at a loss for
coherent speech. (That was okay, though; her smile told me she understood everything I was not
saying). I wanted to talk more, have another coffee with each and every old friend, stay swimming
within these powerful and powerfully emotional eddies and currents. My last day started out with a
vigorous Torah study (one of the aspects the Temple is known for) and then lunch with another old
friend who had one more surprise for me on an impulse, he was leaving his longtime job, apartment
and the congregation to move in with his boyfriend across the country in San Francisco. Not within a
year or even months but in the next 4 weeks. I was stunned (and apparently showed it with a very poor
poker face ). So a sense of loss along with small quiet heartbreaks were my traveling companions back
down to Connecticut and across the waters of the

Rhetorical Analysis Mlk Letter from Birmingham Jail Essay
Martin Luther King s inspiration for writing his, Letter from Birmingham Jail was mainly to appeal to
an undeniable injustice that occurred during his time. His letter was in response tos eight white
clergymen, who objected to King protesting in Birmingham. Dr. King effectively crafted his
counterargument after analyzing the clergymen s unjust proposals and then he was able to present his
rebuttal. Dr. King effectively formed his counterargument by first directly addressing his audience, the
clergymen and then using logos, pathos and egos to present his own perspective on his opponent s
statements. The majority of the sentences in King s letter can be connected to logos, pathos or ethos
and his incorporation of appeals is masterful. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some of his examples are well known such as Hitler while others were not as popular. This appeals to
ethos because it demonstrates King s palate for quality education, proving his credibility. I began
thinking about the fact that I stand in the middle of two opposing forces in the Negro community. One
is a force of complacency, made up in part of Negroes who, as a result of long years of oppression, are
so drained of self respect and a sense of somebodiness that they have adjusted to segregation; and in
part of a few middle class Negroes who, because of a degree of academic and economic security and
because in some ways they profit by segregation, have become insensitive to the problems of the
masses. The other force is one of bitterness and hatred, and it comes perilously close to advocating
violence. It is expressed in the various black nationalist groups that are springing up across the nation,
the largest and best known being Elijah Muhammad s Muslim movement. Nourished by the Negro s
frustration over the continued existence of racial discrimination, this movement is made up of people
who have lost faith in America, who have absolutely repudiated Christianity, and who have concluded
that the white man is an incorrigible devil . In this passage, King s presentation of logos is genius. He
effectively shows the clergymen two sides of the community, the one of complacency and the other of
hatred and cynicism. In this excerpt he does not attempt

Fingerprinting In A Crime Scene
One of the most essential tools in a crime scene is fingerprinting. Jan Evangelista noticed different
ridges on peoples fingers in 1823 (UXL). When he noticed that people started to look into it and found
out that no two people have the same prints. Fingerprints are left because sweat and oils collect on the
ridges of your finger and then left on the item you touched in the exact same pattern. The FBI has a
library of fingerprints so they can see who commited the crime if they can find fingerprints (UXL).
Henry Faulds, an english doctor, was credited as the first person to use fingerprinting in crime scene
investigation. He used fingerprinting to catch a criminal that broke into his hospital. The most

Documenting the evidence before anything is moved not only helps solve the crime but also helps
prosecute the criminal in court. Crime scene photography documents the location of the victims body.
Photography also documents the location shell casings, footprints, and blood splatters. Findings such
as broken locks, weapons, and condition of the body are also photographed to use in court. Finding
blood is a major goal of any crime scene investigation. Blood types can be used as incriminating
evidence (Rae). Blood samples can identify the criminal and the victim. Modern DNA analysis is the
most important tool to identify criminals. Bloodstain pattern analysis (BPA) allows investigators to
recreate crime. BPA uses biology, physics, and mathematics. A blood pattern can give an idea of where
the blood came from. That information allows investigators to know if the body was moved. In some
cases there is no visible blood present and techniques to find hidden blood vary depending on the
situation. A chemical investigators use called luminol. When luminol comes in contact with blood it
reacts with the iron in the blood and the result is the blood starts to glow. Investigators also use
infrared camera that can see blood under 6 layers of paint. These techniques have solved many crimes
and put many

Cristal Zeas Professor Rogoff FYE 1320 April 1, 2014 Sharing is Caring In present day society,
individuals dedicate their time to social media on the internet and electronics, towards updating

The creator of SeaChanges, Eamon Bailey, tries to sugarcoat the necessity of having such gear when
he says, There needs to be accountability. Tyrants can no longer hide. There needs to be, and will be,
documentation and accountability, and we need to bear witness...All that happens must be known
(Eggers 67). With this device, any one is capable of hooking up a gadget anywhere they want, at any

Everything sounds idealistic so far. The common people will be able to view their possessions, make
sure everything is safe, take a vacation without actually leaving their household, and even check up on
family members on occasion. Even a politician can wear it on their shirt and have the whole world
keep tabs on how the politician negotiates and make deals. But agreeing with Margret Atwood with
her review of the book, this can lead to a very dystopian world, questioning How involved can
corporations and government be involved with the personal lives of individuals? (Atwood). How

world today because of Edward Snowden, former U.S. contractor of the National Security Agency,
who disclosed information of thousand classified

Medication Errors Common Type Of Medical Error
Medication errors commonly occur in healthcare facilities. According to the Joint Commission, these
medication errors are believed to be the most common type of medical error and are a significant
cause of preventable adverse events (The Joint Commission, 2008). Many experts agree with the
research that medication errors have the potential to cause harm within the pediatric population about
three times as higher than in the adult population. This is due to medication dosing errors that are
weight based dosing calculations, fractional dosing, and misplacement of the decimal point that can
lead to overdosing or under dosing (The Joint Commission, 2008). Children are at greater risk than
adults for medication errors because they have an immature physiology as well as developmental
limitations that affect their ability to communicate and self administer medications (The Joint
Commission, 2008). Another important factor is that the great majority of medications are developed
in concentrations appropriate for adults; therefore, pediatric indications and dosage guidelines often
aren t included with a medication, necessitating weight based dosing or dilution (The Joint
Commission, 2008). The need to alter the original medication dosage requires a series of pediatric
specific calculations and tasks, each significantly increasing the possibility of error (The Joint
Commission, 2008). Additionally, an observation of safety regulations and practices by Nemours

Twelfth Night Women
Women can easily fall in love as they are gullible and over trusting, whereas men are mindless and
foolish. In Twelfth Night, the characters who prove this are Olivia and Sir Andrew. Olivia has fallen in
love with the fake man Cesario , and Sir Andrew is deliberately trying to woo Olivia through foolish
and pathetic ways. Twelfth Night demonstrates that women are weak and are able to fall in love easily,
due to their gullibility when it comes to love. This was shown as Olivia was able to fall in love with
fake man Cesario , who was truly Viola in disguise. Although the Duke Orsino has real feelings for
Olivia, she refuses to love him back as her love is only for Cesario . Shakespeare conveys this
message through Viola s soliloquy, and is

My Friend Uploaded A Post On Facebook And It Got Me...
Recently my friend uploaded a post on Facebook and it got me contemplating. The question was
posed by a man named Alan Watts and he asked, What would you like to do if money were no object?
This inquiry seems to be wandering the internet a bit because this was roughly the third time that I
have regarded it, so I took it as a sign and I paused to direct this question to myself. Of course, there is
a multitude of things that I yearn to do. If money wasn t the issue like many of us make it out to be, of
course, there would be ample to do. I discern that this question is posed more for what type of work
would you do but I was thinking about stuff that I would love to do regardless. The most predominate
desire for me is to travel. I love to write and that will always be a constant thing, but I think it would
be great to do both.
I recognize that many people would have a similar response, yet my strong desire to travel made me
consider deeply as to why I had such a tenacious want for it. I believe one of the reasons why that
deep down, we still hold on to the ancient survival instinct of migration, which can never really be
satisfied. I believe that this could also hold true for me. As I think more about it, I find that it was not
really the destinations that I want to go to but the means of the journey that I wish to experience. My
husband is the one who made me conscious of this. He likes to travel and see places as well, but just
didn t understand the concept of people

Symbolism In Susan Glaspell s Trifles
Trifles is an amazing play filled with many subtle symbolizations of the recently widowed woman
named Mrs. Wright. The play starts when all the characters walk into the house of John Wright. The
characters are two women, Mrs. Hale and Mrs. Peters, and three men, a sheriff, county attorney and
Hale. They walk into a home to investigate the murder of Mrs. Wright s (Minnie Foster) husband who
was found strangled to death. There are many Symbolic messages that are all connected to Mrs.
Wright throughout the play. From the beginning of the play, you know that Mrs. Wright is angry and
depressed. Between a conversation with Hale, Mrs. Wright has no emotion about the death of her
husband; Hale: Can t I see John? No , she says, kind o dull like. ... Show more content on

Peters says Oh, her fruit; it did freeze (1394). She is talking about her bottle of fruit which represents

Mrs. Hale knows that this man locked up Minnie Foster (Mrs. Wright) who was a cheerful sweet
woman in that house, expected her to do everything and knew that after a while her heart would freeze
and she d stop singing. So just like the fruit froze and broke so did Mrs. Wright.
At the end of the play, Mrs. Hale finishes the play with the following statement; We call it knot it, Mr.
Henderson (County Attorney) (1401). Throughout the play the question of whether Mrs. Wright was
going to quilt it or knot it kept coming up. As the play progresses the women find clues and start to
realize that Mrs. Wright killed her husband which is why Mrs. Hale makes that statement. The men do
not realize this though as they always thought of the women s findings as

Japanese Value Honor And Family
To say the Japanese culture value family is an understatement. To say they value honor is a no brainer.
What many don t know is just how deep these values go, as well as how often they are reflected in
their literature. In the past the Japanese valued honor, now they call it saving face in our modern
times. Both terms mean the same thing and can be lost or earned almost the same way. The Japanese
value honor and family, both are equally displayed in various works of literature. The Tale of the
Heike gives prime examples of how the Japanese honor others and themselves. The tale also shows
how the Japanese culture values family of their own as well as others.
Honor, when one hears the word your chin rises and you re eager to show your face. This is why today
they use the term saving face . Japanese people ancient and modern are very big are bringing honor to
one s self and family. The Heike were considered great samurai in ancient times, today they are
compared to businessmen. The Japanese businessman is compared to a Samurai warrior (Basics of
Japanese Culture) like samurai they used a mask to hide their identity, only after a battle was the
winner able to reveal his opponents true identity. This is done in business today when two business s
come into negotiations neither know what the other truly wants. Only after usually nonverbal cues and
various questions worded in ways to get their opponent to reveal themselves do they reveal the other

Antisemitism And Racism
Throughout global history, there have been large debates pertaining to people that aren t accepted as
the ideal race. These debates are mostly about the ongoing injustices of non Caucasians and the
actions that should be taken to ensure the protection of white Christian values . Whether they are
brown, yellow, or blue, the majority has found horrible ways to prevent minorities from having equal
rights as human beings. I have found that people as high up as government officials have even
promoted these unjust actions. The holocaust is a prime example. Some of the most common ways
they ve robbed minorities of their humanity are through social exclusivity, which the oppressors have
justified through racial differences. Realistically, these types of justifications are simply filtered down
to racism. Not to mention, I ve realized that the Jewish community isn t new to this form of accepted
racism. In fact, they ve experienced such a vast amount of hate that the term antisemitism was coined
from their oppression. In my opinion, the terms antisemitism and racism relate through racial thought
based essentials such as their supporter s destructive actions toward people of a different race, their
systemic discriminatory nature, and prejudice principles. Furthermore, I have realized that
antisemitism and racism are comparable through their supporters racially based destructive actions
toward those of a different race. In general, there have been a tremendous amount of

Evolution Of Science Classes At School
Being raised in a Christian family, I have attended Catholic school my whole life. That being said, I
have grown up studying Bible stories since before I can remember. Probably the most prominent and
well known of these stories in Christian theology is, of course, the story of creation. To this day, I still
remember how the story goes. On the first day, God created the earth and daylight. For six days after,
he continued creation and included the sky, the ocean, plants, animals, and humans. Growing up, I
always believed in a literal interpretation of this story, and thought everything was created within an
exact week. However, as I got older, I learned about evolution in science classes at school. I soon
discovered that many of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While a large number of people in the scientific field strongly believe in evolution, a group of people
known as creationists and creation scientists seem to disagree. Creationism is the belief that the
biblical record of primeval history in Genesis 1 11 is factual, historical, and clearly understandable
and, therefore, that all things were created and made in six literal days (Morris). Creationists believe
evolution completely contradicts with their religious beliefs; therefore, they do not agree with it.
Creation science is a branch of creationism that focuses on providing scientific reasoning behind
creationism. Creation scientist Jack Wellman describes evolution saying it presents a world view
without God and that there is only survival of the fittest and that there is no real purpose for mankind.
In between evolutionists and creationists falls theistic evolutionists, who believe in both creation by
God and evolution. Since these people interpret the Bible in a metaphoric sense rather than literal,
they believe that religious teachings about creation do not conflict with evolutionary concepts.
For the most part, evolutionists and theistic evolutionists, aka people who believe in evolution, all
seem to agree that evolution should be taught in US public schools. Interestingly enough, I have not
yet found someone who is pro evolution and does not think it should be discussed in the classroom.
However, there are creation scientists who think

How Did Ho Chi Minh Influence Vietnam
Ho Chi Minh was the original leader of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, which is now the Social
Republic of Vietnam. He is well known for leading the Northern Vietnamese and National Liberation
Front to battle against the South Vietnamese and Americans up until his death in 1969. Ho Chi Minh
influenced world history by leading the first nation to completely defeat the United States, take control
of Vietnam and defeat international colonialism, and also unite the Vietnamese people under a new
blend of Nationalism and Communism.
Under Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam was able to defeat the colonial powers of France and Japan, and

The Vietnamese were being forced to work for the French, however they never received wages for
their work. In addition, the French heavily taxed the Vietnamese, which unnecessarily made the
Vietnamese poorer than they needed to be. The final important immorality which the French bestowed
upon the Vietnamese is no true control over their own people, with the French controlling all of the
political regimes in the north, south, and central sections of Vietnam. Notwithstanding, there is also
the major atrocities of the Japanese, which contributed to even more persecution of the Vietnamese
people. Once the France became absorbed by Germany during World War II, Japan took control of
Vietnam, which was known at this point as Indochina. The Japanese took most of Vietnam s resources,
with over two million Northern Vietnamese people dying due to starvation. With this all in mind, the
fact that Vietnam was able to declare independence is somewhat mind numbing, because it did not
appear that the Vietnamese could handle possibly fighting the French, the Japanese, or other Western
nations in arms. With Japan s defeat in World War II in 1945, Ho seized the opportunity and let it

Swot Analysis Netflix
Netflix is a company known around the world. It started with humble beginnings, and popped on the
scene and not only reinvented the way we watch movies at home, but took over the industry. In this
case I will analyze the Video On Demand or VOD industry using Porter s Five Forces Model and
conduct a SWOT analysis on Netflix. I will also discuss why Netflix has been so successful, what
their competitive advantages are, some of my personal recommendations, and finally any strategic
advantages CEO Reed Hastings should pursue on the future. Using Porter s Five Forces Model I am
going to analyze the VOD industry, Porter s model is made up of economic powers of customers,
economic power of suppliers, direct competitors, potential competitors, and finally firms that offer
substitutes. In the VOD industry I believe the customer have a high economic power. The top three
streaming services in the industry are, Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Video Services. If the customer
deems the price too high they can simply leave, and because customers aren t required to sign a
contact they can simply stop services. Which will cause the number of users to fall and profits to
decrease as well. Next in Porter s model is economic power of suppliers. The industry as a whole is
very large, Netflix had 76 million users in 2016, Amazon had 44 million in 2015, and Hulu had 9
million in 2015. The suppliers (Netflix, Amazon, and Hulu) don t have a huge power, across the board

Egypt Expulsion Of The Hyksos
The Egyptians eventually dealt with the Hyksos through a campaign of attacks that displaced them
from Egypt. Seqenenre Tao II is originally thought to have commenced the Egyptian s battle for
liberation. Kamose then retained this campaign through his use of medjay mercenaries to attack
Nefrusi and Avaris. However, Ahmose I completed the expulsion of the Hyksos through his likely use
of Hyksos weaponry to subjugate Avaris and Sharuhen. Thus, the Hyksos were displaced from Egypt
through a series of attacks.
Seqenenre Tao II is believed to have initiated the campaign to expel the Hyksos. This is due to
Seqenenre s believed quarrel with the Hyksos king Apophis. However, this altercation is unsure to be
historically accurate and is discontinuously attested on the Papyrus Sallier I. The account asserts that
the Hyksos ruler Apophis sent a letter to Seqenenre protesting the noise of hippopotami in Thebes.

The Hyksos were then pursued to Sharuhen, where it also capitulated to Ahmose I. After this victory,
Ahmose I sought to attack Hyksos supporters, including rebels within Egypt and their Nubian

rivals. Thus, Ahmose I completed the expulsion of the Hyksos through his likely adoption of Hyksos
weaponry to besiege Avaris and Sharuhen.
Hence, the Hyksos were expelled consequent to the Egyptian s campaign of attacks against them.

What Is Everything To Be Automated Essay
Everything to Be Automated
Free trade kills jobs. You hear it everywhere, but is this statement true? It s far from that. The real job
killer is automation. Just as the automobiles made horses obsolete, newer and better technology will
do the same to humans. But some argue this fact, saying we aren t horses . They believe humans to be
special snowflakes whose complexity machines can never match. Or they say it will only be low
paying jobs that machines take over. They are wrong. Whether you have the intelligence that s on par
with Einstein or artistic ability of Da Vinci, you can be replaced. Nobody is irreplaceable. Sooner or
later every job in the world is going be automated. But why are robots a better alternative to humans?

Let s take Uber for example. The company was under heavy fire and even had their services shut
down in London because of the lack of background check on the drivers. As popular as their
accommodation is, many people don t trust Uber because of the drivers. They can t trust a random
stranger to drive them somewhere. However, if driverless vehicles were to provide service like Uber, it
would be much safer. Those who don t trust driverless cars will conclude that it s safer than human
drivers. An automated vehicle doesn t drink and drive. Doesn t text and drive. Doesn t get distracted
while driving. These driverless automobiles don t need to be perfect. They simply need be better than
humans and they already do that. Not only in automobile, but in factories and other industries where
humans can get hurt, it s better for employers to replace them with robots. Robots breaking is far less
of a worry than a person getting injured. Our mistake prone bodies aren t as safe as the errorless
machines. In manufacturing, there are less human workers than there were forty years ago. You would
think that they would be less productive but amazingly, the productivity has gone up. This is all thanks
to better, faster and stronger technologies. These mechanical muscles never get tired, never take a
break, and work at a rate that is beyond what we are capable of. To emphasize my point further, let s
use cars as an illustration. Before, they used to be made humans and

Henry Ford
Intro Who is he? Henry Ford ( 1863 1943 ) was one of America s foremost industrialists. He
revolutionized production of the automobile/transportation. Ford was born on July 30, 1863, in a place
near Dearborn, Michigan. Over the years, he worked as an engineer for the Edison Illuminating
Company in Detroit. His first developed/built form of transport was gasoline powered. He built a
gasoline powered horseless carriage called the Quadricycle, in the shed behind his home. Years later,
Ford developed and built the Ford Model T car in 1908. He then developed the assembly line made of
production, revolutionizing the industry. Resulting in millions of cars sold and becoming a world
famous company head. The company s market dominance was lost, but there was a lasting impact on
other technological development and U.S. infrastructure. Enormously influential in the industrial
world, Henry Ford was also outspoken in the political realm. He drew controversy for his pacifist
stance during the early years of World War 1 and earned widespread criticism for his anti Semitic
views and writings.

Group Dynamics In The Devil Wears Prada
All companies have slight to significant culture that effect various dynamics among individual s
interactions. Those interaction may involve nonverbal or verbal communications. The communication
between individual s can create both a positive or negative result, small to large groups. A platform is
formed from a diverse team generating potential for creativity and innovation. The organization could
have expediential advantage to build continuous success from collaboration. For the structure, it
would allow the necessary flexibility to create good and/or unhealthy practices, in which, could result
in the toxic high turnover and stressful environment or enriching environment for individuals to thrive
an organization. The management and leadership has vital role in the creation of these customs thus
creating a culture allotting successful atmosphere. In fact, some organizations thrive in a traditional
culture while other usually depends on several factors such as industry, competition, and location. In
the movie The Devil Wears Prada, there are plenty of examples that demonstrate good and bad
practices. What I will be mainly focused on is the bad. Those practices result in various outcomes
from communication styles, downward and upward, and other specific behaviors. I will be reviewing
few organizational behaviors dynamics that will be cited examples found throughout the movie. Some
may see the film as a successful story of Andy and while others could cite negative

species to control our own emotions. This self reflection led me to closely examine the origin of my
racist values and the environment which shaped them. As I reflect on my own family and upbringing, I
am astonished by certain remembered dialogues of my past pertaining to the belittlement of
minorities. I vividly remember my first introduction to White Castle burgers when I was a child. I
came home with my mother and explained to my grandmother where we had come from. My
grandmother had remarked to me that I shouldn t eat from that restaurant as that s where all the black

Obviously, there is nothing wrong with interracial marriages, culturally or scientifically. My closest
friends who I ve fought in war with have gone on to marry white women and I ve even danced at their
weddings. What is most troubling to me is why I sometimes still feel that instant aggression when
seeing strangers in public. Feelings which I have to immediately curtail and address within my mind
and resultantly leave me feeling very shitty and self loathing for the rest of my day. I think the best
approach to deal with this problem is to continue questioning myself during those moments and
training my mind through repetition. I don t have a strong racist identity and I consider myself
aggressively anti racist but the road to expelling the taught racist values which have been instilled into
me is long and challenging. Another event which needs to be addressed is the feelings of imminent
danger I feel when browsing a convenience store and a hooded black man walks in. I believe this
feeling is another result of my society s demonization of black males as criminals. This is obviously
not the case for all black males wearing hoodies. However, as of now, I do not know

Accounting, Accountability And Governance Practices Of...
This thesis sets out to examine the accounting, accountability and governance practices of the
Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (hereafter, NCDMB) and the International Oil
and Gas Companies (hereafter, IOCs) in the implementation of, and compliance with, local content
sustainability rules in petroleum contracts in Nigeria. The aim is to apply an accountability based
conceptual framework of accounting to address three major accountability issues within the context of
the broader natural resource governance practices. Firstly, to critically establish, within the context of
the Nigerian oil and gas industry, the relationship between local content and the three tenets of
sustainability (social, economic and environmental), the issue that has received relatively little
attention from scholars. Secondly, to evaluate the extent of the NCDMB s accountability by assessing
its ability to enforce compliance with the local content sustainability rules as provided by the law.
Finally, to investigate the extent of accountability of the IOCs operating in Nigeria by their ability to
comply with and align between the mandatory and the voluntary local content reporting practices in
their attempt to support sustainability through oil and gas contracts.
Historically, the Nigerian oil and gas sector like that of many other developing countries, has been
dominated by the powerful IOCs resulting into a massive outflow of resources for the payment of
training and procurement

An Imaginary Life By David Malouf
An Imaginary Life by David Malouf is a first person point of view story, narrated by Ovid himself. It
is set in 8 BC when Ovid was exiled from Rome to Tomis. His exile forced him to face many barriers,
where language, knowledge and time of the setting were most crucial. Although Rome and Tomis
were fairly close, Tomis was behind in inventions and knowledge. Even thought Ovid learned a lot
about Tomis culture, he faced many barrier from his exile, in which the language and the tribe s
limited knowledge about the world made his stay more difficult. Malouf was excellent at explaining
language as a symbol in An Imaginary Life . the Tribe s language was productive and difficult to

he didn t know how to communicate, and because of that his life was completely changed. Where
Latin is described as beautiful and poetic while the tribe s language of Tomis was described as
productive. In the beginning, when he was exiled, he compared himself as a newborn, he was not able
to communicate but as his spend more time in Tomis he slowly mastered the language. In An
Imaginary Life Ovid s exile was a challenge for him. Where Rome was one of the modernized places
at that time, Tomis was backward. In Metamorphoses (Book I) Ovid writes, He puts away those bolts

Culture, Race, and Gender in Sports Essay
Culture, Race, and Gender in Sports When a person of a specific gender enters a non traditional sport
for their gender/sex, many social and moral issues will arise challenging that person involved in that
particular sport. The intentions of the individual will be questioned as well as their personal interest in
the sport. Before any of these questions are asked, there must be a redefinition of gender roles,
femininity, and masculinity. In order for a person to enter a non traditional sport for their gender/sex
without being criticize about gender morality, society must set flexible definitions for femininity and
masculinity. Society must begin to accept the variety of sports both men and women can compete in

Through the movies viewed in this course this semester, we saw women who were able to play against
men and still keep their femininity. Nothing is lost when playing sports not traditionally meant for a
particular race or gender. Society must become more understanding when it comes to the sports
different types of people play and hinder from stereotyping anyone when they participate and perform
well in that sport. When women decide to participate in sports traditionally for men such as
bodybuilding, they risk the chance of being socially stereotyped as lesbians, or simply viewed as less
feminine then say women figure skaters. For example, Venus Williams is seen as criticized for being
very masculine in build and judged on that by her performance. The media has commented on how
well she plays, and has compared her to men in her sport. She receives fewer endorsements than many
other tennis players do because of her looks (but mainly due to her race). Men place themselves in the
same situation when they chose to perform/participate in traditional female sports like field hockey,
socially stereotyped as gay or less masculine than hockey players. There has been a change in the way
certain gender sports were viewed when women/men attempted to challenge the boundaries.
Gymnastics for example began as an all male sport. It was believed that women did not have the build
nor strength to compete in this sport. In 1928 were women allowed to compete in the Olympics in

embryonic stem cell research be allowed? Throughout my essay I will be describing both sides of this

individuals think it is either the killing of an infant, and others believe it is a door opening chance for

Banks use all types of advertisement such as n ewspaper, radio, television, magazines and hoardings.
Also, sales promotion device such as Point of Purchase material, brochures and advertisement
specialties like ball pens, calendars, diaries, etc. Publicity is a major strength as a promotion tool than
advertising as customers tend to believe a news item rather than an advertisement. Word of promotion

  • 2. Washington Tsunami Scenarios Scientists have projected possible tsunami scenarios for coastal Oregon and Washington, based on the human impact of the 2004 Sumatra and 2011 Japan tsunami. An earthquake along the Cascadia subduction zone could be as large as the one that hit Japan lastMarch, and the tsunami could reach the coast in 20 minutes (National Geographic Society [NGS], 1996). The tsunami could create a massive catastrophe killing over 10,000 people during the summer since the evacuation centers are sparse and some people have lower access to high ground (NGS, 1996). For instance, a resort town named Ocean Shores lies on a low ground narrow peninsula and 5,500 people live there year round (NGS, 1996). • 3. Rank Group Defies Brexit With Impressive Profit Increase Rank Group defies Brexit with impressive profit increase While Brexit has rocked a number of major online gambling industry names, it seems that Rank Group has managed to remain strong. In fact, it can even be argued that Rank Group has gone beyond what it was expected financially speaking, as it posted a profit increase of 15% during the financial year. Coming about through a fresh digital focused strategy, it appears that Rank Group is defying doubters across the board. The report, which details final results for the year to 30th June, shows that their profit before taxation was a very healthy £85.5 million, which is a notable increase on the £74.5 million posted the year prior. Revenue for Rank Group also increased by 2% to £753 million. The figures show that, generally speaking, Rank Group had a great year, but there was a negative to note amidst the report, as there was 2% dip in the group s operating profits, as it came in at £82.4 million before exceptional items . Considering the positivity surrounding Rank Group, Henry Birch (Rank Group Chief Executive) has been quick to comment on the report, he said I am pleased to report a solid set of results with group revenue up 2%, again recording like for like growth across all brands and channels in the year. This year we have focused on delivering significant projects to ensure we have the right platform in place for future growth. • 4. Questions On The Arab Spring Fall term 2014 University of Windsor Department of Political Science 45 130 Seminar in Comparative Politics Instructor: Dr. Elena Maltseva The Arab Spring Written by Kevin Bernklau Student Nr.: 103957678 Email: bernkla@uwindsor.ca Submitted on: November 26, 2014 Discuss the structural factors which contributed to the onset of the Arab Spring in 2011. Based on what you learned about the origins of revolutions in this class, was this wave of contention inevitable? The term Arab Spring has emerged in academic literature as well as in the general media from about early 2011. It refers to the awakening of some Arab nations and the movements to replace authoritarian regimes with democratic ones. The theme of spring and awakening seems to have been borrowed from the 1989 reform movements in the former Eastern block nations, such as in the former German Democratic Republic or Hungary. However, this comparison has been criticised by some analysts since both the circumstances which have led to these movements as well as the outcome of these reform efforts seem to differ quite a lot. Yet, the Arab Spring term seems to be still widely used and even found an extension in the creation of the term Arab Winter which refers to events that happened in 2012 in some Arab countries during which these reform movements seemed to have cooled off and particular nations, such as Egypt, attempted to go back to the status quo of the pre 2011 era. The term Arab Spring has been ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Team Reflection Paper Introduction When I was a freshman in high school, I had one of my worst group experiences within my entire educational career. I was assigned a project in my World History course and was assigned to a group with one of my best friends and two boys who were known for their lack of goals in school. I wouldn t call this a team project because, due to the situation, it s obvious that we were not a team. It was clear to my friend and I that this was going to be a tough process because we knew the history that these two boys had with contributing to the work needed by each teammate. Both boys were well known to the teachers as well because they were two of the high school s biggest troublemakers. One would assume the situation could have been helped, but that is not that case. We began our project and noticed that the boys preferred to talk about things that did not matter to the assignment and not to begin working on their half of the project. In an attempt to bring their attention back to the task at hand, we tried many things over one class period. First, we tried multiple times, just telling the boys that we needed to get our work done, which failed every time and resulted in arguments. Then, we decided to tell our teacher that we felt the boys were not willing to participate and were worried that their disregard for the class and our team s goals would affect our individual grades for the project. Instead of addressing the boys, our teacher decided that we would need to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. My Auto-Ethnography Analysis My auto ethnography encompassed a three day stretch (Thursday afternoon to Saturday afternoon) in which I visited Boston to help celebrate my rabbi s installation as the first woman rabbi in New England s largest Reform Jewish Synagogue (Temple Israel of Boston). As points of reference: this particular rabbi was also the person who oversaw my conversation to Judaism and was particular influential with guidance during some very rough life events. Also, I have remain in close contact with both the Temple (as an institution) and its congregation (as a common group and subculture). For example, I will be traveling up there again later on in the year to do some teaching. So this return to Boston the same city/region where I did my undergrad and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although I spent most of the morning and afternoon engaged with schoolwork, it was impossible not to feel a growing excitement. The event at the Temple was an emotional milestone not only for the installation itself (which made both local and nationwide news) but for my own return, as I hadn t been back for a year. Few knew I would be there, so my arrival was met by surprise and heartfelt fondness. Each individual meeting with friends, acquaintances and clergy came accompanied by deep emotional tugs. Indeed, by the time I could talk to the now senior rabbi I was nearly at a loss for coherent speech. (That was okay, though; her smile told me she understood everything I was not saying). I wanted to talk more, have another coffee with each and every old friend, stay swimming within these powerful and powerfully emotional eddies and currents. My last day started out with a vigorous Torah study (one of the aspects the Temple is known for) and then lunch with another old friend who had one more surprise for me on an impulse, he was leaving his longtime job, apartment and the congregation to move in with his boyfriend across the country in San Francisco. Not within a year or even months but in the next 4 weeks. I was stunned (and apparently showed it with a very poor poker face ). • 7. Rhetorical Analysis Mlk Letter from Birmingham Jail Essay Martin Luther King s inspiration for writing his, Letter from Birmingham Jail was mainly to appeal to an undeniable injustice that occurred during his time. His letter was in response tos eight white clergymen, who objected to King protesting in Birmingham. Dr. King effectively crafted his counterargument after analyzing the clergymen s unjust proposals and then he was able to present his rebuttal. Dr. King effectively formed his counterargument by first directly addressing his audience, the clergymen and then using logos, pathos and egos to present his own perspective on his opponent s statements. The majority of the sentences in King s letter can be connected to logos, pathos or ethos and his incorporation of appeals is masterful. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Some of his examples are well known such as Hitler while others were not as popular. This appeals to ethos because it demonstrates King s palate for quality education, proving his credibility. I began thinking about the fact that I stand in the middle of two opposing forces in the Negro community. One is a force of complacency, made up in part of Negroes who, as a result of long years of oppression, are so drained of self respect and a sense of somebodiness that they have adjusted to segregation; and in part of a few middle class Negroes who, because of a degree of academic and economic security and because in some ways they profit by segregation, have become insensitive to the problems of the masses. The other force is one of bitterness and hatred, and it comes perilously close to advocating violence. It is expressed in the various black nationalist groups that are springing up across the nation, the largest and best known being Elijah Muhammad s Muslim movement. Nourished by the Negro s frustration over the continued existence of racial discrimination, this movement is made up of people who have lost faith in America, who have absolutely repudiated Christianity, and who have concluded that the white man is an incorrigible devil . In this passage, King s presentation of logos is genius. He effectively shows the clergymen two sides of the community, the one of complacency and the other of hatred and cynicism. • 8. Fingerprinting In A Crime Scene One of the most essential tools in a crime scene is fingerprinting. Jan Evangelista noticed different ridges on peoples fingers in 1823 (UXL). When he noticed that people started to look into it and found out that no two people have the same prints. Fingerprints are left because sweat and oils collect on the ridges of your finger and then left on the item you touched in the exact same pattern. The FBI has a library of fingerprints so they can see who commited the crime if they can find fingerprints (UXL). Henry Faulds, an english doctor, was credited as the first person to use fingerprinting in crime scene investigation. He used fingerprinting to catch a criminal that broke into his hospital. Documenting the evidence before anything is moved not only helps solve the crime but also helps prosecute the criminal in court. Crime scene photography documents the location of the victims body. Photography also documents the location shell casings, footprints, and blood splatters. Findings such as broken locks, weapons, and condition of the body are also photographed to use in court. Finding blood is a major goal of any crime scene investigation. Blood types can be used as incriminating evidence (Rae). Blood samples can identify the criminal and the victim. Modern DNA analysis is the most important tool to identify criminals. Bloodstain pattern analysis (BPA) allows investigators to recreate crime. BPA uses biology, physics, and mathematics. A blood pattern can give an idea of where the blood came from. That information allows investigators to know if the body was moved. In some cases there is no visible blood present and techniques to find hidden blood vary depending on the situation. A chemical investigators use called luminol. When luminol comes in contact with blood it reacts with the iron in the blood and the result is the blood starts to glow. Investigators also use infrared camera that can see blood under 6 layers of paint. These techniques have solved many crimes and put many ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It s only been 25 years since Tim Burners Lee invented the world wide web and it s no secret that it is one of the most progressive and influential invention of our time. With this device, any one is capable of hooking up a gadget anywhere they want, at any moment, and anyone can become transparent (as the book calls it) without even knowing it. • 10. Medication Errors Common Type Of Medical Error Medication errors commonly occur in healthcare facilities. According to the Joint Commission, these medication errors are believed to be the most common type of medical error and are a significant cause of preventable adverse events (The Joint Commission, 2008). Many experts agree with the research that medication errors have the potential to cause harm within the pediatric population about three times as higher than in the adult population. This is due to medication dosing errors that are weight based dosing calculations, fractional dosing, and misplacement of the decimal point that can lead to overdosing or under dosing (The Joint Commission, 2008). Children are at greater risk than adults for medication errors because they have an immature physiology as well as developmental limitations that affect their ability to communicate and self administer medications (The Joint Commission, 2008). Another important factor is that the great majority of medications are developed in concentrations appropriate for adults; therefore, pediatric indications and dosage guidelines often aren t included with a medication, necessitating weight based dosing or dilution (The Joint Commission, 2008). The need to alter the original medication dosage requires a series of pediatric specific calculations and tasks, each significantly increasing the possibility of error (The Joint Commission, 2008). • 12. Twelfth Night Women Women can easily fall in love as they are gullible and over trusting, whereas men are mindless and foolish. In Twelfth Night, the characters who prove this are Olivia and Sir Andrew. Olivia has fallen in love with the fake man Cesario , and Sir Andrew is deliberately trying to woo Olivia through foolish and pathetic ways. Twelfth Night demonstrates that women are weak and are able to fall in love easily, due to their gullibility when it comes to love. This was shown as Olivia was able to fall in love with fake man Cesario , who was truly Viola in disguise. • 13. My Friend Uploaded A Post On Facebook And It Got Me... Recently my friend uploaded a post on Facebook and it got me contemplating. The question was posed by a man named Alan Watts and he asked, What would you like to do if money were no object? This inquiry seems to be wandering the internet a bit because this was roughly the third time that I have regarded it, so I took it as a sign and I paused to direct this question to myself. Of course, there is a multitude of things that I yearn to do. If money wasn t the issue like many of us make it out to be, of course, there would be ample to do. I discern that this question is posed more for what type of work would you do but I was thinking about stuff that I would love to do regardless. The most predominate desire for me is to travel. I love to write and that will always be a constant thing, but I think it would be great to do both. I recognize that many people would have a similar response, yet my strong desire to travel made me consider deeply as to why I had such a tenacious want for it. I believe one of the reasons why that deep down, we still hold on to the ancient survival instinct of migration, which can never really be satisfied. I believe that this could also hold true for me. As I think more about it, I find that it was not really the destinations that I want to go to but the means of the journey that I wish to experience. My husband is the one who made me conscious of this. He likes to travel and see places as well, but just didn t understand the concept of people ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The play starts when all the characters walk into the house of John Wright. The characters are two women, Mrs. Hale and Mrs. Peters, and three men, a sheriff, county attorney and Hale. They walk into a home to investigate the murder of Mrs. Wright s (Minnie Foster) husband who was found strangled to death. There are many Symbolic messages that are all connected to Mrs. Wright throughout the play. From the beginning of the play, you know that Mrs. Wright is angry and depressed. So just like the fruit froze and broke so did Mrs. Wright. At the end of the play, Mrs. Hale finishes the play with the following statement; We call it knot it, Mr. Henderson (County Attorney) (1401). Throughout the play the question of whether Mrs. Wright was going to quilt it or knot it kept coming up. What many don t know is just how deep these values go, as well as how often they are reflected in their literature. In the past the Japanese valued honor, now they call it saving face in our modern times. Both terms mean the same thing and can be lost or earned almost the same way. The Japanese value honor and family, both are equally displayed in various works of literature. The Tale of the Heike gives prime examples of how the Japanese honor others and themselves. The tale also shows how the Japanese culture values family of their own as well as others. Honor, when one hears the word your chin rises and you re eager to show your face. This is why today they use the term saving face . Japanese people ancient and modern are very big are bringing honor to one s self and family. The Japanese businessman is compared to a Samurai warrior (Basics of Japanese Culture) like samurai they used a mask to hide their identity, only after a battle was the winner able to reveal his opponents true identity. • 16. Antisemitism And Racism Throughout global history, there have been large debates pertaining to people that aren t accepted as the ideal race. These debates are mostly about the ongoing injustices of non Caucasians and the actions that should be taken to ensure the protection of white Christian values . Whether they are brown, yellow, or blue, the majority has found horrible ways to prevent minorities from having equal rights as human beings. I have found that people as high up as government officials have even promoted these unjust actions. The holocaust is a prime example. Some of the most common ways they ve robbed minorities of their humanity are through social exclusivity, which the oppressors have justified through racial differences. Realistically, these types of justifications are simply filtered down to racism. Not to mention, I ve realized that the Jewish community isn t new to this form of accepted racism. In fact, they ve experienced such a vast amount of hate that the term antisemitism was coined from their oppression. In my opinion, the terms antisemitism and racism relate through racial thought based essentials such as their supporter s destructive actions toward people of a different race, their systemic discriminatory nature, and prejudice principles. Furthermore, I have realized that antisemitism and racism are comparable through their supporters racially based destructive actions toward those of a different race. • 18. Evolution Of Science Classes At School Being raised in a Christian family, I have attended Catholic school my whole life. That being said, I have grown up studying Bible stories since before I can remember. Probably the most prominent and well known of these stories in Christian theology is, of course, the story of creation. To this day, I still remember how the story goes. On the first day, God created the earth and daylight. For six days after, he continued creation and included the sky, the ocean, plants, animals, and humans. Growing up, I always believed in a literal interpretation of this story, and thought everything was created within an exact week. However, as I got older, I learned about evolution in science classes at school. I soon discovered that many of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While a large number of people in the scientific field strongly believe in evolution, a group of people known as creationists and creation scientists seem to disagree. Creationism is the belief that the biblical record of primeval history in Genesis 1 11 is factual, historical, and clearly understandable and, therefore, that all things were created and made in six literal days (Morris). Creationists believe evolution completely contradicts with their religious beliefs; therefore, they do not agree with it. Creation science is a branch of creationism that focuses on providing scientific reasoning behind creationism. Creation scientist Jack Wellman describes evolution saying it presents a world view without God and that there is only survival of the fittest and that there is no real purpose for mankind. In between evolutionists and creationists falls theistic evolutionists, who believe in both creation by God and evolution. Since these people interpret the Bible in a metaphoric sense rather than literal, they believe that religious teachings about creation do not conflict with evolutionary concepts. For the most part, evolutionists and theistic evolutionists, aka people who believe in evolution, all seem to agree that evolution should be taught in US public schools. Interestingly enough, I have not yet found someone who is pro evolution and does not think it should be discussed in the classroom. However, there are creation scientists who think ... He is well known for leading the Northern Vietnamese and National Liberation Front to battle against the South Vietnamese and Americans up until his death in 1969. Ho Chi Minh influenced world history by leading the first nation to completely defeat the United States, take control of Vietnam and defeat international colonialism, and also unite the Vietnamese people under a new blend of Nationalism and Communism. The Vietnamese were being forced to work for the French, however they never received wages for their work. In addition, the French heavily taxed the Vietnamese, which unnecessarily made the Vietnamese poorer than they needed to be. The final important immorality which the French bestowed upon the Vietnamese is no true control over their own people, with the French controlling all of the political regimes in the north, south, and central sections of Vietnam. Notwithstanding, there is also the major atrocities of the Japanese, which contributed to even more persecution of the Vietnamese people. Once the France became absorbed by Germany during World War II, Japan took control of Vietnam, which was known at this point as Indochina. The Japanese took most of Vietnam s resources, with over two million Northern Vietnamese people dying due to starvation. With this all in mind, the fact that Vietnam was able to declare independence is somewhat mind numbing, because it did not appear that the Vietnamese could handle possibly fighting the French, the Japanese, or other Western nations in arms. It started with humble beginnings, and popped on the scene and not only reinvented the way we watch movies at home, but took over the industry. In this case I will analyze the Video On Demand or VOD industry using Porter s Five Forces Model and conduct a SWOT analysis on Netflix. I will also discuss why Netflix has been so successful, what their competitive advantages are, some of my personal recommendations, and finally any strategic advantages CEO Reed Hastings should pursue on the future. Using Porter s Five Forces Model I am going to analyze the VOD industry, Porter s model is made up of economic powers of customers, economic power of suppliers, direct competitors, potential competitors, and finally firms that offer substitutes. In the VOD industry I believe the customer have a high economic power. The top three streaming services in the industry are, Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Video Services. If the customer deems the price too high they can simply leave, and because customers aren t required to sign a contact they can simply stop services. Which will cause the number of users to fall and profits to decrease as well. Next in Porter s model is economic power of suppliers. The industry as a whole is very large, Netflix had 76 million users in 2016, Amazon had 44 million in 2015, and Hulu had 9 million in 2015. The suppliers (Netflix, Amazon, and Hulu) don t have a huge power, across the board all three services are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This thesis sets out to examine the accounting, accountability and governance practices of the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (hereafter, NCDMB) and the International Oil and Gas Companies (hereafter, IOCs) in the implementation of, and compliance with, local content sustainability rules in petroleum contracts in Nigeria. The aim is to apply an accountability based conceptual framework of accounting to address three major accountability issues within the context of the broader natural resource governance practices. Firstly, to critically establish, within the context of the Nigerian oil and gas industry, the relationship between local content and the three tenets of sustainability (social, economic and environmental), the issue that has received relatively little attention from scholars. Secondly, to evaluate the extent of the NCDMB s accountability by assessing its ability to enforce compliance with the local content sustainability rules as provided by the law. Finally, to investigate the extent of accountability of the IOCs operating in Nigeria by their ability to comply with and align between the mandatory and the voluntary local content reporting practices in their attempt to support sustainability through oil and gas contracts. Historically, the Nigerian oil and gas sector like that of many other developing countries, has been dominated by the powerful IOCs resulting into a massive outflow of resources for the payment of training and procurement ... Nothing is lost when playing sports not traditionally meant for a particular race or gender. Society must become more understanding when it comes to the sports different types of people play and hinder from stereotyping anyone when they participate and perform well in that sport. When women decide to participate in sports traditionally for men such as bodybuilding, they risk the chance of being socially stereotyped as lesbians, or simply viewed as less feminine then say women figure skaters. For example, Venus Williams is seen as criticized for being very masculine in build and judged on that by her performance. The media has commented on how well she plays, and has compared her to men in her sport. She receives fewer endorsements than many other tennis players do because of her looks (but mainly due to her race). Men place themselves in the same situation when they chose to perform/participate in traditional female sports like field hockey, socially stereotyped as gay or less masculine than hockey players. There has been a change in the way certain gender sports were viewed when women/men attempted to challenge the boundaries. Gymnastics for example began as an all male sport.
