The Crucible Essay Prompts
Writing an essay on the topic "The Crucible Essay Prompts" can present a considerable challenge
due to the multifaceted nature of the subject matter. The Crucible, a play by Arthur Miller,
explores complex themes such as mass hysteria, the consequences of false accusations, and the
abuse of power. Crafting an essay on this topic requires a deep understanding of the characters,
their motivations, and the historical context of the Salem witch trials.
To begin with, one must thoroughly analyze the provided essay prompts and discern the specific
angles or themes that need to be explored. This involves delving into the intricacies of the
characters' relationships, the socio-political climate depicted in the play, and the allegorical
elements that Miller employs. Juggling these various aspects while maintaining a coherent and
well-structured essay can be a daunting task.
Moreover, tackling the essay prompts of "The Crucible" requires the incorporation of relevant
quotes, examples, and textual evidence to support arguments. Extracting pertinent information
from the play and effectively integrating it into the essay necessitates careful consideration and a
keen analytical eye. It's not merely a matter of summarizing the plot but rather extracting deeper
meanings and connections.
Additionally, exploring the historical context and Miller's intentions in writing the play adds
another layer of complexity. Understanding how the events in Salem relate to McCarthyism and
the Red Scare requires a thorough examination of external sources and critical thinking skills.
This contextualization is crucial for providing a nuanced and comprehensive analysis.
In conclusion, writing an essay on "The Crucible Essay Prompts" is no easy feat. It demands a
blend of literary analysis, historical understanding, and critical thinking. It is not just about
recounting events but unraveling the layers of meaning embedded in Miller's work. A successful
essay on this topic requires time, dedication, and a genuine passion for exploring the depths of
the play's themes.

Role Of A Third Party For A Peace Operations Effort
Shamella Tribble PUBP 651 Analysis Paper The role of a third party in a peace
operations effort can be categorized as fragile and easily misconstrued. These groups
can include international governments, UN and even NATO just to name a few.
Their tasks mainly rely on incomplete data, inaccurate assumptions and the pressure
from the outside world to fix the conflict all within a span of a CNN news hour.
There are many factors which are taken into consideration by these groups. These
factors are used to determine the plan and ultimately the overall success of the peace
keeping mission. The plan can include funding, demobilization, reintegration and long
term peace. These issues when not properly analyzed can cause difficulty in the...

With increased access to what goes on around and the need for the next big story
to bump up the networks ratings the need to take action has become necessary.
Now this in itself is not necessarily a downfall of peace operations but the call for
immediate action and even faster resolution often is. The 10 minute segment we
see on the news channel on our way to work shows us the most gritty and violent
piece of information and we take our demands to the government in an effort to
stop the violence. Weak actors will want to socialize the conflict that is, to enlist
allies in their cause against a greater power and to increase the perception of
suffering (Bajraktari and Parajon 2007, par. 5). With this motivation the third party
must now gather the advisors and top personnel to devise a plan that fixes all
atrocities taking place on the nightly news. The international community would do
well to recognize the danger of calibrating its responses to the substance and timing
of the information it receives from media reports (Bajraktari and Parajon 2007, par.
6). There is no mistake that action should be taken as quickly as possible to diffuse
the conflict as much as possible but the overall goal that seems to be
A Study On The Mental Health Status
A STUDY ON THE MENTAL HEALTH STATUS
OF GYM GOING AND NON GOING STUDENTS
*Zamirullah Khan, *Shailendra Pratap Singh ** Naseem Ahmed
Abstract: The significance of various forms of physical activity and exercise for the
enhancement of health in general and mental health in particular is so distinct.
Keeping this in mind the present study aims to compare mental health status of gym
going (GG) and non gym going (NGG) students. Fifty students (25 GG and 25
NGG) of Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh were taken as the subjects of the study.
The age of the subjects ranged from 17 24 years. GG and NGG students were those
who are studying in undergraduate course at AMU, Aligarh. The mental health status
of the subjects was measured by using Mental health checklist (MHC) constructed by
Kumar (1992). The t test was used to compare the mean score of GG students and
NGG students. The result of the study indicated that significant difference exists
between GG students and NGG students at 0.05 level of significance.
Keywords: Gym going students, non gym going students, mental health.
Introduction
The mental health describes a level of psychological well being, or an absence of a
mental disorder. In recent years clinical psychologists as well as educationists have
started giving proper attention to the study of mental health. However, in India,

Copyrights And Other Legalities. Copyrights Are More
Limited
Copyrights and Other Legalities Copyrights are more limited in scope than patents.
They protect the original works of authorship, not the ideas they contain. In the
United States, original works include literary, drama, musical, artistic, and certain
other intellectual works. A computer program, for example, is considered a literary
work and is protected by copyright. A copyright gives its owner the exclusive right to
reproduce and distribute the material or perform or display it publicly. However,
copyright lawdoes permit limited reproduction of copyrighted works without the
owner s permission for fair use such as criticism, teaching, and news reporting. In the

The creators of works protected by copyright, and their successors (generally
referred to as right holders ), have certain basic rights under copyright law. They hold
the exclusive right to use or authorize others to use the work on agreed terms. The
right holder of a work can authorize or prohibit: its reproduction in all forms,
including print form and sound recording, its public performance and communication
to the public, its broadcasting, its translation into other languages, and its adaptation,
such as from a novel to a screenplay for a film. Similar rights that the right holders
may hold are: fixation (recording) and reproduction are granted under related rights.
Many types of works protected under the laws of copyright and related rights require
mass distribution, communication and financial investment for their successful
disseminations (for example, publications, sound recordings and films). Hence,
creators often transfer these rights to companies better able to develop and market
the works, in return for compensation in the form of payments and/or royalties
(compensation based on a percentage of revenues generated by the work). The
economic rights relating to copyrights are of limited duration as provided for in the
relevant World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) treaties beginning with the
creation and fixation of the work, and lasting for at least 50 years after the creator s
death. National laws may establish longer terms
Liberal Arts Institutions
Discussion
The specific focus of this article is looking at how likely liberal arts institutions
will adapt to their peer groups [similar liberal arts institutions in a consortium] by
offering and awarding degrees in professional areas of study (e.g. business,
communications, public affairs, etc.). The article also considers the influence of
other institutional variables that may be more or less likely to predict the adoption
of these professional programs. These additional variables seem to relate back to
two previous discussion points, resource dependency, and field level dynamics.
Kraatz (1998) does discuss both of these phenomena in his findings (p. 637) of how
resource dependence, and a prior history of change affected institutional ... Show

Similar to the previous two articles, this evolution of an institution s paradigm will
certainly take time. However, in order for institutional survival, the slow turning ship
analogy often used to describe universities will not serve institutions for very much
longer.
OVERALL SYNTHESIS
Each of the readings from week 9 play into each other, and themes emerge that can
help build new theories and expand the opportunity for future research in institutional
change. As referenced in Clark (2004), institutions are extremely complex, and
arguably increasing their complexity with every passing year. The notion that one
theory or framework can explain the best way for an institution to change is
delusional. The influences of so many factors at play make approaches and
explanations themselves just as complex as the organizations they are intending to
change.

Ergonomic Office Chair Essay
Ergonomic Workplace Chair Simply A Waste Of Loan Or Are They Genuinely
Beneficial?
There s been a buzz going around for a while now about ergonomic office
furnishings. Given that premium ergonomic desks and chairs cost a pretty penny,
exist any real health advantages to be had or is this just another method of duping the
un suspecting business owner out of their hard earned money?
Most of us understand that a happy worker is a productive worker. And to be
delighted a worker must at least be comfy within their office however are ergonomic
chairs that comfy? And can the rate charged for such a chair genuinely be justified as
an essential overhead?

I d have obtained the cash to buy it earlier rather of making do with that typist s

And to be delighted a worker must at least be comfortable within their office but

ergonomic office chair so I plumped for the next best thing: a typist chair. When the
typist s chair finally ended I chose to go the whole hog and I invested some of my

to make but, having actually lastly made it, when I took receipt and got the chair set

Judith Sargent Murray s On The Equality Of The Sexes
Analytical Essay: Judith Sargent Murray s On the Equality of the Sexes Judith
Sargent Murray was a revolutionary woman born into a socially prominent and
wealthy family during the start of the American Revolution, Murray was recognized
for her intellect at a young age and given an education along with her brother. Later
in life, she had her written works widely published and read during a time when
women s voices were seen as fundamentally inferior to those of men. In one of her
most influential and strongly opinionated works, On the Equality of the Sexes ,
Murray makes a strong case for the spiritual and intellectual equality of men and
women, arguing that women and men are born equal, but that men are simply given
more education and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Towards the end of On the Equality of the Sexes , Murray specifically invokes the
story of Adam and Eve, a story used for centuries to depict women as the sinners, to
turn the argument against itself and argue that Adam, or the men, are the real sinners
in the Bible, as Adam knowingly breaks the rules while Eve was innocently deceived
by the serpent. Adam could not plead the same deception, says Murray, nor ought we
to admire his superiour strength, or wonder at his sagacity , implying that people
overestimate the skills of men while dismissing the intellect of women as
commonplace. The bigger takeaway from Murray s invocation of Adam and Eve is
that it shows the audience that she is trying to make her argument more relatable by
putting gender equality in the framework of the Bible, a piece of work that was not
only a religious text, but a way of life for most people in Murray s time. By
analyzing the Bible through a feminist lens and swapping the roles of Adam and Eve,
Murray saved women s reputation as the repenting sinners, but in mentioning the
Bible to justify her point, Murray ultimately retreats back to the practice of relying on
others words to make her ideas worthy of public consumption. Murray also uses the
Biblical story of Job to turn the argument of male superiority against itself and to
strengthen the footing of her argument. At first, she concedes by recognizing that

Why Is Independence Day Important To American Culture
Independence Day is very important to the American culture. Americans celebrate
Independence Day on the fourth day of July every year. It is a day for loved ones to
come together with love and unity to celebrate our land. Independence Day is
recognized for its representation of the Declaration of Independence and the birth of
the United Statesof America as an independent nation. The United States has come a
long way since its independence in 1941, evolving and inspiring many other
countries to fight for their freedom. If it weren t for our strong willed native s we
may not have had the strong foundation of freedom, equality and human rights that
we have today.

Many countries became inspired by our valor, reaching for their own independence.
Among them were France, Greece, Poland, Russia and many countries from South
America. It takes a strong nation with grit and strong will to achieve such
accomplishments.
Traditional 4th of July celebrations include fireworks, parades, concerts, barbecues
and family gatherings. It is a very exciting day that draws out emotions of
happiness. Even before sunset and well into the evening the sky it lit up with
colorful displays of light. Children swing around sparklers, smiling as the trail of
light follows their wand. The smell off food cooked on the grill can be smelled in
the air. Many streets will be closed off and neighbors bring out lawn chairs and

Drug Use And Its Effects On Society
Despite the issues regarding the scientific studies, evidence has drawn positive
links suggesting people who use drugs are more likely to engage in criminal activity
than non users if simply because they are breaking the law to obtain the substance of
use. Research does support this contention as people who are arrested for various
crimes test positive to be under the influence of a drug at the time they committed
their offense. However, the evidence remains elusive as to whether the drug use led
to the crimeor the crime was separate from the drug use and related needs (i.e., money
to buy drugs, territorial wars, etc.). Because of inconsistent data and definitions in
reporting, statistical evidence is not empirical enough to draw hard conclusions
regarding the relationship between drugs, including alcohol, and crime, or to quantify
how much of that crime begins with the innocent seeming lighting up of a marijuana
cigarette. In addition, when more than one drug is present, it is difficult to assess
which of the two or more might have induced or inspired the criminal behavior, if
any. The association between alcohol and violence illustrated through various studies
makes it clear that correlations between drug use and crime are greater complicated
through the presence of other dynamics such as socio demographic and personality
characteristics.
Given these cautions regarding the research and studies then, it is interesting to note
that studies limited to marijuana only do not
The Origin Of The Jews After The Babylonian Exile
Chapter One Introduction
The word Diaspora derives from the Greek Diasperien i.e. dia (through) and
sperien (to scatter). According to Webster s dictionary, Diaspora refers to dispersion
so we can say that the word represents a centre called home from where the
dispersion occurs. In addition to it the dictionary it also associates the meaning with
the dispersion of the Jews after the Babylonian exile. Thus we get two meanings of
the word Diaspora as a spread of population and a forcible dispersal. However the
term Diaspora doesn t mean any nomadic existence, though it suggests a movement
from one place to another, but it s not a nomadic existence because it is somewhere
a journey, however that does not mean all journey can be understood as that of a
Diaspora. As in Diaspora does not mean causal travel, even though diasporic journeys
are mainly about settling down and about having roots elsewhere.
Thus, the concept of Diaspora has different meanings to different people according to
their different circumstances. For instance, when the Jews were exiled from the
Babylon, they were uprooted from their own homes and they had to rebuild their
community and culture all over again, for them the diaspora had different meaning
since it was forced. But today the meaning of Diaspora could be limited to any
community of a particular nation outside its own country, sharing some common
bonds that eventually give the community a new identity within their existing identity,
Staples Incorporation States On Their Sit Essay
Staples Incorporation states on their sit, We ve been helping businesses for nearly 30
years, and it s all thanks to a broken typewriter ribbon. (Staples Inc., 2014)
Tom Stemberg founded Staple Incorporation in 1985. Mr. Stemberg was a former
supermarket chain executive. Over the Fourth of July, Mr. Stemberg was working on
a business proposal when his typewriter ribbon broke. Due to it being a holiday
weekend most local supplies and stationary stores were closed. So he drove from
store to store looking for the correct ribbon and was not able to find it. Since Mr.
Stemberg had so much trouble over the holiday weekend trying to find the right
ribbon for his typewriter, it made him realized that the world was in need of a store
that provided office products.
Ten months later Mr. Stemberg opened up Staples Incorporation becoming the first
and only office supple store a round. Staples helped make office supplies more
accessible an affordable to customers in need of them. It was a one stop shop for
office supplies.
Since than, many things have changes for Staples, they grew in number of stores,
expanded their product selections and becoming a truly global company. But even
though Staples increase in size and products they kept one thing strong. Their
customers are always their number one priority and Staples is there to help them
make more happen no mater what it is they want to accomplish.
Today the business world changes all the time and Staples has learn to grow with it.
Examples Of Sinners In The Hnads Of An Angry God
In Sinners in the hnads of an angry God Jonathan Edwards reveals how God has
omnipotent power and howhe uses it to punish sinners. Jonathan Edwards proves
what God is capable of causing through imagery, alliteration, and similes. Jonathan
Edwards utilizes imagery to show sinners what will become of them in the hands
of God. It is mentioned, That world of misery, that lake of burning brimestone, is
extended abroad under you. This gives the reader an idea of what will one

Also, if Primrose didn t die, Katniss wouldn t have ended up in the hospital, too. All
of the lives lost caused Katniss to be swallowed in grief, and nearly killed. The
Capitol shouldn t have made her suffer just because of Peeta, and the Districts should
have united after President Snow and Coin were killed, and Katniss shouldn t have
ended up in the mental asylum. These are only a few things that I would ve changed

Communities can create opportunities for youth to participate in activities where
they have choices, decision making power, and shared responsibility. Such
experiences help them to develop new skills, increase self confidence and offer a

The next level is Family level factors. It as been proven that children or youth that
have been physically abused or neglected are more likely than other children to
commit violent crimes ( Risk and Protective ). Research has determined that family
dynamics and parental or caregiver involvement are significantly correlated with an
individuals propensity to engage in violent behavior ( Risk and Protective ). A lack
of parental interaction and involvement increase the risk for violence ( Risk and

The last level is Individual Level Factors. The Individual level factors are identified

Analysis Of Yiyun Li s A Thousand Years Of Good Prayers
Yiyun Li s A Thousand Years of Good Prayers has a recurring theme among its
protagonists. Several characters have not met certain emotional needs which leaves
them searching for ways to meet these needs wherever possible. Oftentimes,
characters enter a one sided relationship and give themselves completely to a person
with nothing in return because it fulfills whatever needs the character has. These
relationships are most evident in Extra and A Thousand Years of Good Prayers
.
In Extra, Granny Lin s emotional deficit comes from her lack of relationships
throughout her life. Her whole life she was never married, never had any children,
and cooped up in a factory all day. After Granny lin was forced to retire, Auntie Wang

The one sidedness of the relationship is physical as well. Granny Lin looks out for
Kang by supplying him with socks to save him embarrassment (Li 19).
The way Granny Lin describes her relationship with Kang also shows how she has
been deprived of romantic love her whole life. She wonders if this is the love she
missed in her younger years, hand and hand with a dear boy and in the closing lines
of the story she calls her time with Kang her brief love story (Li 18, 22).
While I concede that Granny Lin s relationship with Kang is problematic given the
age difference, I contend that, knowing what the reader knows about Granny Lin s
lonely past, the relationship takes on a new light. The life Granny Lin led prior to
her factory retirement left her emotionally starved and put her romantic and
emotional desires in a state of dormancy. These buried and dormant desires were
awoken by Old Tang, the object around which her feelings were able to manifest.
After Tang s death, those feelings may have left Granny Lin feeling even more
empty because now she was aware of them but had nobody to love. Her relationship
with Kang arose because they were both the most vulnerable in the school. She was
vulnerable due to her emotional and romantic cavities, while Kang was vulnerable
because of his familial issues. Some might call Granny Lin s love for Kang
predatory, but it comes
Mercury Surface
Mercury
The surface of Mercury is littered with craters. These craters are believed to have
been created by collisions from debris. Mercurys craters range from small circular
craters to multi ridged impact basin. These basin are formed either when there was
a large collision followed by a few small collisions or from many smaller collisions.
The largest known crater on Mercury is called the Caloris Basin. This crater has a
diameter of approximately 1500 kilometres across and surprisingly resides in a rather
flat part of Mercurys surface.
However we see that the full surface of Mercury is not cratered and that there is
sections of Mercurys surface that looks untouched we call these sections smooth

Mercurys surface.

The And The Syrian Migrant Crisis Essay
The nation of Hungary has had a troubled past. From allying with the wrong side in
both World Wars, to being oppressed by the Soviet bloc, Hungary s newly democratic
government has the challenge of passing legislation that would benefit its citizens for
the future, both near and far. In 2004, the Hungarian people, with approval from
Brussels, joined the European Union. This event had unforeseen complications that
would unveil themselves when the World s overall security was questioned.
Within the last few years, the European Union has been faced with the unique
challenge of determining how each nation should be handling the Syrian Migrant
Crisis. Being on the border of the EU, Hungary has been bombarded with migrants
seeking asylum in the EU s member states. Brussels saw the large influx of migrants
and proposed quotas, which in a very recent referendum, the Hungarian citizens
rejected. Along with the threat to national sovereignty in the physical sense, many
European Union economic policies have had a negative impact on the national
economy of Hungary. The constraints and requirements placed on Hungarian business
have not completely benefited the economy, like they have in other EU nations.
Although not blatantly stated, the legislators in Brussels have made decisions that
one could attribute to unfair treatment of Hungary and its people. This can be see

the College. Finney s writing reflects a lot about revival; that it is a method for saving
souls as well as changing people and, eventually, the society. Through revivalism, the
church would introduce the millennial kingdom to the world. Finney acknowledges
that revival brought good change radically and also that Christians ought to be
effectively involved in transforming all areas of community.
This paper will aim to involve a close reading on Reflection on Revivals by Charles
G. Finny, We will be discussing seven different letters which He has address to the
Ministers of the Gospel and brothers. He talks about revival but he designed his
religious theology to fit his revivalist practices. His unique perspective of original sin
incorporated an improvement, the general nature of depravity, and a lack of teaching
of attribution. Three
Humanity Exposed In Joseph Conrad s Heart Of Darkness
In Joseph Conrad s racially and ethnically charged book Heart of Darkness more
questions about the barbarity of humans are raised than answered. Conrad manages
to showcase Europeans lack of civility by creating a world where prejudice and
ignorance toward the African people run rampant. Protagonist Charles Marlowleaves
England to go to the Congo to work in trade. Before Marlow s departure, a British
Doctor posits that when people go to Africathey become mentally and emotionally
challenged. He further states that some people who go to Africa do not ever come
back because they become mad. Marlow is the voice of the Europeans as a collective
throughout the book. Conrad s descriptions of the African people shows that the

Nothing but black shadows,of disease and starvation, lying confusedly. (page 19)
Black shadows of disease and death effectively takes away the humanness of the
individual. One who is lying confusedly is clearly an ignorant and unimportant
person. The colonial perspective on the Africans was extreme and unforgiving. are
they are not human because the Europeans haven t seen a person with black skin
they think they re different and have ignorant views on them. They judge them
based on their appearance rather their personalities, customs, traditions and political
structures. Cannibals...after all they did not eat each other before my face. (p.42)
Marlow sees them hungry and is wondering why aren t they eating each other s
faces in front of me. As human instinct if you have a lot of hunger you would go to
extreme means to get your source of food. This proves the thesis because they
constantly judging them from the outside not who they are and what they re
actually capable to do as they did before they were colonized before the Europeans.
Black figures strolled about listlessly, pouring water on the glow. (p.30) Marlow
describes the Black men as objects rather than men or what he would classify white
people (men, woman, boy and girl). This shows Conrad s perspective on the
Europeans to be ignorant and racist against the Africans because they judged them
based on what they looked like but on who they

CHAPTER 1: INTRODUCTION
1.1 Introduction
For many years, engineers have transformed life and technology. Engineers are
scientists, mathematicians, inventors, and project planners combined. An engineer
takes information from various fields and applies that information to solve problems.
Engineers invent solutions and products in every field, including disciplines like
aerospace, software, biomedical, chemical, civil, mechanical, and electrical
engineering. All engineers are given a similar basic education, but they also choose
one of these specific disciplines to be trained in. As for chemical engineers, they are
responsible for manufacturing chemicals and developing processes for doing so.
Along with researching the issues, the chemical engineer must
Response To Teresa Feldhausen s Article About Global
Warming
Teresa Feldhausen s article about global warming focused on the various opinions
or beliefs people form based on where they reside in the world. The excess of
carbon dioxide in the atmosphere and oceans, as well as other threats to the
environment, has been studied by scientists for many years. Large numbers of
people, however, are either unaware of the issue or simply do not agree with the
scientific evidence. Everyone in the world does not have access to education and
technology, which leaves many societies at a disadvantage and prevents them from
staying up to date on global concerns.
For instance, the majority of people living in underdeveloped countries are oblivious
to the fact that such an idea as global warming exists. Contrariwise, Faldenhausen
suggests that people living in more advanced areas of the globe, around ninety
percent, have heard of climate change. Furthermore, Feldhausen reported that Lee et

Essay On Early Jamestown Settlers
Before the colony of Jamestown first rooted its foundations in the swampy, disease
ridden James riverbanks of Virginia in 1607, the Pamunkey tribe of Native Americans
had already gathered a century of knowledge and expectations of the would be
English conquerors that settled Jamestown. However, the Jamestown settlers proved
an unexpected rival for the Pamunkeys and their powerful emperor Powhatan, and a
force he could not have reckoned with based on his early information. Both the
English and Native leaders met on the James with somewhat condescending
assumptions about each other that led to a long history of wary truce and mutual
prosperity as well as vengeful rivalry and all out war. About a century before the
arrival of the first inexperienced... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although incompetent and struggling at first, and expecting to rely on the natives
for food and assistance in their settlement in their early years, the English still
expected to overpower the Pamunkeys eventually; an event they saw as an
inevitability due to their rapid expansion as a colony. They expected a thriving and
powerful community of natives upon their arrival but also knew they had the
superior weapons and technology. The English wanted to keep their advantages of a
surprising lack of assistance and superior military force, and they trained with
weapons in secret to avoid the Indians gauging their true potential for danger.
As one can imagine, the assumptions on both sides that the other party would be
easily dominated and controlled was grounds for an unstable yet mutually
beneficial relationship at the best, and an all out bloody fight for survival at the
worst. At first, the demand for trade in furs, gold, and pearls in Europe as well as
the Pamunkeys demand for glass beads and useful tools allowed for a truce lasting
for two years that was strengthened by John Smith s and Powhatan s leadership
capabilities and mutual
Harley Davidson Annual Report
Introduction:
Harley Davidson Inc is the leading motorcycle company in the United States, with
an approximate 46% market share. It derives its revenue from the sale of
motorcycles to dealers, the sales of parts and Harley Davidson accessories, and the
financing of approximately 53% of its U. S. Consumer motorcycle purchases. Harley
Davidson stock sold for P12.70 per share in late March 2009, down from a high of
$70 in October 2007. Harley Davidson like manufacturers of big ticket items has

Obierika and Okonkwo are best friends but they are completely opposite. That is
called foil. Foil is where one character is completely different than the main
character. Even though the are opposites, there are still many similarities and
differences. Obierika is similar because they are both men and they are about the
same age. Both men like palm wine. Also, both men have a couple of wives and
some children. Okonkwo s first wife soon finished her cooking and set before their

Martin Luther King I Have A Dream Speech
The dreadful day of April 4, 1968 was not only when many cities grieved the loss
of one of the most influential Americans, but also the day that the Civil Rights
Movement suffered a major setback. In his 39 years of life, Martin Luther King Jr
transformed into a powerful activist for the Civil Rights Movement. He spoke
passionately as an advocate for African American civil rights and he continuously
advanced the Civil Rights Movement. One of the most prominent events that
allowed the Movement to rise and conquer was his delivery of the I Have a Dream
speech on August 28, 1963 which affected more than half the country (Gregory,
43). The Civil Rights Movement had many other activists, but King s work was so
influential that he was seen as the face of the Movement. In 1963 Time magazine
named King man of the year and then a year later at 35 years old he was the
youngest to ever win a Nobel Peace Prize where he then donated the about $54,000
reward to different civil rights organizations (Manheimer, 67). He believed that the
best way to achieve the goal of civil rights was through peaceful protest and non
violence which many people either resented or admired. The life of this famous
leader was cut short on the complicated day of April 4, 1968. King was shot and
murdered on the balcony of the Lorraine Motel, located in Memphis, Tennessee,
while talking with his colleagues in the parking lot below him (Malito). The bullet

Analysis Of The Movie Network
Right now, it s an industry dedicated to one thing. Profit. This quote by author,
Paddy Chayefsky, perfectly sums up the motives behind the movie Network. From
hiring soothsayers to risking a man s mental heath for the sake of a successful
television program, the characters in Network have truly been blinded by fame and
top ratings. This satire fiercely describes just how far a televisionnetworkwill go to
achieve such accomplishments. In the 1950 s, television changed American
entertainment from showing sitcoms to serious news broadcasts. In the movie
Network, the setting revolves around a news station, where the ratings are
suffering and the workers are growing desperate for attention. Television executive,
Diana Christensen, is tirelessly racking her brain for the next big hit, and her ideas
are deemed crazy by more than just one coworker; however, in desperation, her
ideas are put to the test on live television. Even after news anchor, Howard Beale,
has a mental breakdown on camera, Christensen fights to keep him on the air
because of the rising success the network found in his entertaining yet uncontrollable
rants about a failing society (Ebert). Eventually, Christensen manages to secure
Howard Beale s very own television series featuring a soothsayer to predict future
shows and Beale himself to demand people to take control of their lives. Almost all
of his shows ended in him falling flat on the ground from fainting; this reveals the toll
that the program is
Warriors Don t Cry By Melba Pattillo Beals
On May 17th, 1954, the Supreme Court ruled in favor of Brown v. Board of
Education of Topeka, Kansas, officially making the separation of blacks and whites in
public schools unconstitutional (Beals 12). This ultimately led to a constant struggle
in the South to keep schools segregated. The most notable situation occurred in the
town of Little Rock, Arkansas during the 1957 school year. Nine black students
volunteered to integrate into Central High. This constant struggle to turn the
Supreme Court ruling into a societal norm was documented by one of the Little Rock
Nine. Melba Pattillo Beals s novel, Warriors Don t Cry, depicts the forces in favor of
integration, forces opposing integration, and the constant adversity faced by the Little
Rock Nine.
The multiple forces in favor of integration were determined to gain access to Central
High School and integrate public schools in the south. Before any integration was
possible in the United States, the NAACP, or the National Association for the
Advancement of Colored People, was forced to file a lawsuit in the Federal District
Court to integrate public schools immediately due to the public and state backlash
towards integration (Beals 20). Judge Ronald Davies declared that Governor Faubus
had thwarted the court approved plan of integration furthering the movement to
integrate Central High (Beals 68). After the lawsuit was settled, the Little Rock Nine
was scheduled to integrate into Central High School. However, even after these
Elephant Man Essay
Ashley Montagu tells John Merrick amp;#8217;s unusual story in the book that
studies human dignity, The Elephant Man. The Elephant Man, an intriguing book
that captures the heart of the spirit, is the story of a simple, yet unfortunate, man. It
causes one to think about life amp;#8217;s precious gifts and how often they are
taken for granted. As the sad and unique story of John Merrick, amp;#8220;the
elephant man, ; unfolds, all are taught a lesson about strength and courage.
When Sir Frederick Treeves first discovered John Merrick in 1884, he could only be
described as, amp;#8220;a huddled mass of loneliness ;(14). Merrick had a horrible

With the help of his new friend Frederick Treeves, he even attended plays and went
for walks. He lived happily at the hospital for almost seven more years where
compassionate people frequently visited him. Even people of royalty paid him visits.
No matter how ill treated he may have been, no one ever heard John Merrick
complain about his hideous looks or his horrible life. With outstanding endurance, he
proves to the world what a truly heroic person can do.
The Elephant Man, an intriguing and well written book, also captures the true
essence of John Merrick amp;#8217;s life. The context of the book asserts
descriptiveness and easily captures the interest of the reader. When Treeves first
viewed the amp;#8220;elephant man, ; he states:
The showman pulled back the curtain and revealed a bent figure crouching on a
stool and covered by a brown blanket. In front of it, on a tripod, was a large brick
heated by a Bunsen burner. Over this the creature was huddled to warm itself . . . this
hunched up figure was the embodiment of loneliness (47).
Descriptions such as these paint the sad but vivid picture of the life John Merrick
led. While writing his story, Montagu made a point of using photographic words to
set up the scene he wanted to describe. His detailed writings helped the story move
along. In addition to the viewpoint of Frederick Treeves, Montagu included many

Sweater Weather Analysis
Very few songs retain the inimitable aptitude to tell a story, let alone create a
platform in which the central idea of that story is juxtaposed between the lofty
heights and the crushing depths of the presence and absence of that idea. Unlike
most of its contemporaries, Sweater Weather by The Neighbourhood, tells its own
story that of a fleeting romance, and provides a stage to contrast the facets of love
that are both exalted and despised. The Neigbourhood s Sweater Weather, utilizes a
unique mix of quick paced music and clever lyrics to create an atmosphere in which
the evanescence of love can be examined and by extent scrutinized. The music
possesses a unique ability of conveying the message of how quick and tragic love

The lyrics of the main body of the song are rapid and roll off the tongue as lead
singer Jesse Rutherford swiftly rattles off the lines, creating an enveloping sense
of the lust that is present at the beginning of a relationship. However, as the song
progresses, Rutherford s poignant vocal talents seep through as the song becomes
less of a praise of love and more of a lamentation of it, and the deep scars it leaves
behind as it comes to a close. The beginning of the song is riddled with
juxtapositions like, Head in the clouds but my gravity s centered which provide a
unique insight into two component of love, the pure ecstasy of lust coupled with
the grounding force of complacency and reality that cements the relationship. While
the lyrics often exalt the conquest of love, as it evolves the song provides a
evocative lamentation of that lost in the pursuit of love. The lyrics become darker
and more cacophonous, shifting from the upbeat, The goose bumps start to raise to,
it too cold, it s too cold. The protracted feeling that creeps into Rutherford s voice
conveys a demeaning view of that lost, and leaves a lasting impression of
hopelessness that persists long after the song finishes. While simple syntactically, the

resolutions is I want to appreciate my second semester of my senior years. The
previous year is extremely awful year of my life because I was stresses out and lot
of important things going on in my life at the same time. The junior year is the
most important year of every student s life because college mostly cares about the
student grade from the junior year. I have the hardest class schedule because I was
taking three AP classes than I was taking plenty of honors classes and it was
extremely difficult for me to maintain high GPA in school and time management.
Additionally, I also have to worry about SATexam and my future are depending on

I was over loaded with the homework. When I was done with my junior I feel

At the same time I have to worry about applying to college and I wrote plenty of

have overcome all the challenges I encounter last year. I desire to make my second
semester of senior year memorable by going to all the school trip and taking less
stress, so this memorable year can remind of my high schoollife. My second New

to socialize more with other people who I don t know because fall semester I am

main justifications for punishments being designed and implemented. Justice for the
victim is one justification. For example, punishments such as an eye for an eye aim
to make criminals suffer to the degree that their victims have suffered. Deterrence is
another justification. For example, hanging someone in public was intended to serve
as a warning to potential criminals about what would happen if they too broke the

The scope of diagnostic radiology can include a basic radiograph or X ray to more

However, the film/screen radiograph is considered the gold standard against which
all the newer imaging technologies are measured (McKinnis, 2014). Additionally,
each imaging procedure will differ in tissue specific sensitivity, pathology, structural

The Role Of Censorship In Music
How much is too explicit? Music has been around since forever, dated back from
the late 1800s (music censorship debate). Music has become an important element
of our life, and we are affected by it because there has come a point where we cannot
eat, sleep, nor breath without its existence. Music has always been in our hearts.
However, music has its own downside, this happened to be the controversy that
surrounds it. Controversy often comes from the creative control of the artist s work
which are reflected in music videos, lyrics which are express openly with contents
containing profanity, use of sexual innuendos, or even an act of Satanism. On the

How Has Christianity Impacted My Life
Ultimately, it was through the work of the early Church, Christianity had been able
to have its magnitude. It makes one wonder, what did they bring up that brought
multitudes to Christ? Well, it was a very simple tool that it is in the hand of every
believer today the testimony. Their testimony and our testimony centers around the
Resurrection and the transformative power of Christ. Yet, what makes each
testimony unique is God s unique plan for everyone s life. Our lives and how God
intervened in them provides an avenue for us to relate to the struggles of others
showing them that God can change their life too. All my blessings and struggles
have been beautifully woven into a testimony that I can share with those that need to
hear the Gospel, yet there wouldn t be a testimony if God didn t save my life.... Show

booklet. The text, The double life of a slippery axolotl (Appendix A), explores the
scientific discovery of the metamorphosing of axolotls into salamanders. The
activities are created in line with NSW Stage 4 Learning Syllabus to aid English as
an Additional Language or Dialect (EALD) or low literacy students with
comprehension. Through this text, students will examine how classification, survival
and reproduction of axolotls/salamanders are affected by their structure and function
(Board of Studies, 2012). The double life of a slippery axolotl is a scientific text that
predominantly uses active language. This is beneficial for EAL/D and low literacy

This final part of the K W L activity gives students a chance to ask questions about
concepts or words that they didn t grasp through the activities. If students have
unanswered questions or new questions, the class will have a discussion. This allows
students to self monitor their work to ensure its completion (Ogle, 1989). Students
should ensure all their questions from what I Want to know have been satisfactorily
answered, and that they have filled out as many new or interesting facts as they can
in the what I Learnt column. Recaps and summaries of lessons are useful as students
reiterates what they have just learnt, reinforcing the acquired knowledge. It also
allows the teacher to check that all students understand the text. EAL/D and low
literacy students are also encouraged to copy the formulated answers from their
margin questions directly into the Learned column. Answers from the margin
questions activity may overlap with questions students created for the Know column.
By completing this activity, students will have an easily accessible worksheet
containing all of the information learnt from this class. Both activities (Appendix C
and D) give the students an opportunity to express their prior and learnt knowledge in
various modes of communication. The range of literacy activities provided to the
Competitive Sports
There has been a big argument about the injuries of competitive sports and if kids
should be playing them. There is a lot of opinions on if kids should play
competitive sports or if they should not be allowed to play competitive sports.
Some people argue about the injuries and risk that sports give to young children and
the pressure that goes with them. Others argue that sports give more than just
injuries like life skills such as motivation and commitment. According to the New
York Times ( 2015 ), over 50% of high schoolers get a concussion in competitive
sports. However, in this essay, I will be talking about some the life skills that
competitive sports give you and how they outweigh the pressure and injuries in
competitive sports give.
My first reason for why competitive sports help kids with life skills is that kids gain
self confidence when playing sports. One reason sports help with self confidence is
it helps with setting goals. According to Muhealth, ( 2017 ) Watching your hard
work pay off and achieving your goals develops self confidence. Achieving a sport or
fitness goal encourages you to achieve other goals you set. This is a rewarding and
exciting learning process. This is showing that setting and then eventually achieving
your goals in sports and helps a lot with the self confidence of children. My second
reason is that when kids play sports they help kids be themselves and helps the kids
view themselves in a good way. This is supported by Margaret Talbot,
Comparison Of Steven Spielberg And War Horse
The movie that I choose for my final discussion post is War Horse. It is an American
British war drama film released in 2011. (Wikipedia) It takes before and during World
War I and is told from Joey s, the horse and main protagonist s, point of view. The
director of the movie, and co producer, was Steven Spielberg. He was born on
December 18, 1946 in Cincinnati, Ohio. He works in Hollywood, California. Steven
Spielbergis undoubtedly one of the most influential filmpersonalities in the history of
film. In addition, he is Hollywood s best known director and one the wealthiest
filmmakers in the world. (Steven Spielberg) His context for creation of this work

First, it shares similar classifications to director Sergei M. Einstein s Battleship
Potemkin, made in 1925. They both share aspects and qualities that give it an
appearance of a documentary film, which is a film that attempts to record actuality
using primarily either a sociological or a journalistic approach. However, both of
the films are narrative in classification. They both tell a story, and follows the rules
of literary construction in that it begins with expository material, adds levels of
complications, builds to a climax, and ends with a resolution of all the plot
elements. (Sporre) War Horse demonstrates actions of tension build up and release
like those seen in the film Jaws. The filmmakers build into their film a tension
release that deliberately draws laughter from the audience, but at a place in the
film where they wish them to laugh. (Sporre) In War Horse an example is seen
when, in the middle of an intense battle between both sides of the war, a
representative from both sides come together to rescue Joey , a horse and the main
protagonisnt, from No man s land . And the two surprisingly engage in ideal chit
chat about where they are from and How the ladies are in their respective countries.

It uses jump cuts during some of the action scenes for shock effect or to call attention

As a student of marketing, what can you say about these factors? As a student of
marketing I can say that these five elements are the key to do everything you want
to do in the world of business. There is never a right time for anything that is why
you have to analize well each and every one of this elemets. People, when you
think of the people element you think which is your target market, you ask
yourself which one of the people such as young, old, teens, married couples, you
ask yourself which of the many group of people you are going to choose to work
with. Product, you ask what does the consumer need? What needs does it satisfy?
Which are the differences versus your competitors products? Place, you ask yourself
where are the consumers going to look for the product? Which distribution channel
are you going to use? Price, what is the value of this product to the consumer that is
going to buy it? Promotion, when you think of promotion you are going to think
when is the right time to promote your product, where to promote it, how to promote
it, these kinds of things. All of these factors combined can tell us how to put the right
product in the right place at the right time and having the right price targeting the
right people for the right product.
Is it realistic to expect that McDonald s or any well known company can expand

Old Testament Exegetical Paper В– Isaiah 62
The prophet Isaiah lived in the Southern Kingdom of Judah in the 3rd century B.C.
He had a reputation as an uncompromising prophet who did not soften his words of
condemnation and urge to make changes (Stafford 616). The nation of Judah stood
in a precarious position: the wickedness of the people, the civil war which divided
the Israelites into two kingdoms of Judah and Israel, the neighboring countries which
stood by, threatening war and the dilemma that faced the leaders about whether or
not they should take on allies all indicated the downfall of the nation of Judah if the
people did not heed his words and change their ways. According to The Interpreter s
Bible, Isaiah62 was written in the later part of the prophet Isaiah s life. By... Show

Most references to Zion take place in the books of Psalms, Lamentation and Isaiah.
Its first appearance is in 2 Sam 5:6 as the stronghold of Zion . G.A. Barois points
out that it need not be interpreted restrictively as a single building, but rather as the
fortified crest of the hill between the valleysВ… (959). The name В‘Zion has been
suggested by many to designate the entire walled town that covered the southeast
hill of Jerusalem. During the exile however, the whole of Judah came to be known
as Zion. В‘Zion occupies synonymous parallelism with the noun В‘Jerusalem (not
just the southeast hill) while sons of Zion and daughters of Zion implies the
inhabitants of Jerusalem (Lam. 4:2, Isa. 10:32). In 1Kings 8:1,2 we read, В…out
of the City of David which is ZionВ… Hence we can correctly assume that both
refer to the same place, which is Jerusalem. Since my chosen passage is about
В‘Zion , it is good to be sure what exactly is being spoken about.
Now that I ve mentioned Zion the city, I d like to cover another important aspect
concerning cities that s mentioned several times in the BibleВ— watchmen.
According to The NIV Exhaustive Concordance, the word В‘watchmen has been used
13 times in the Old Testament (the singular form, В‘watchman , has been used 16
times). This word is often used figuratively in the Bible, hence it is important to
understand its particular meaning in the passage chosen. В‘Watchmen is mostly

The Benefits of Youth Sport Essay
One thing almost every young child looks forward to is the activity of play. Kids
love nothing more than to go outside, run around with friends, and get dirty. If
children are already active at a young age, why not encourage them to continue by
enrolling them in an organized youth sport program? Young people will gain many
positive experiences by participating in organized physical activities, but none as
important and influential as the social skills, physical skills, and mental skills
developed and nurtured during their time in youthsport. As a result, the young
participants can continue to build upon and cultivate these skills which will

A prosperous restaurant needs greeters, servers, cooks, and so forth, as well as the
managers. Their ability to work as a team is crucial to its success. You may not
have the same interests or beliefs of those you work with, but that cannot stand in
the way of carrying out your job. The same principles and strategies are relevant
and important in sports, and they can be started and nurtured through involvement
in organized youth sports activities. Many youth sports are part of community
organized after school programs. There are many different types of these
programs such as T Ball, Little League Baseball, Pop Warner Football, soccer,
martial arts, cheerleading, and so forth. There are over 40 million youth

choices and can play a sport year round (Le Menestrel and Perkins 13). Communities
use youth sport as an outlet to encourage social activity, a healthy lifestyle, and skill
development for that particular sport. For example, Participation in organized sports
can provide opportunities for youth to learn more about specific skills and exercises
associated with a particular sport (Perkins and Noam 76). These programs offer
opportunities to boost skills and connect positively with others. Without these
activities, parents will have to find another developmental setting that may not give
similar or beneficial outcomes as those of organized youth sport. Studies found that,

Civil Rights Act of 1964 Essay
The Civil Rights Act of 1964 resulted from one of the most controversial House and
Senate debates in history. It was also the biggest piece of civil rights legislation
ever passed. The bill actually evolved from previous civil rights bills in the late
1950 s and early 1960 s. The bill passed through both houses finally on July 2, 1964
and was signed into law at 6:55 P.M. EST by President Lyndon Johnson. The act
was originally drawn up in 1962 under President Kennedy before his assassination.
The bill originated from two others, and one of which was the Equal Opportunity
Act of 1962 that never went into law. This bill made up the core of the Civil Rights
Act of 1964(Bureau of National Affairs 18 20).
There were many groups ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The bill then went to the senate where there was much debate and procrastination.
Many senators opposed to the bill tried to use the filibuster technique, which
basically is an extended talk for the purpose of killing a bill or getting drastic
modifications. In fact, it was the longest debate in Senate history lasting 534 hours
in total. The final vote in the Senate was 76 to 18 to pass their version of the bill
since they made minor amendments to it (Bureau of National Affairs 18 21). A
quote from Senator John Lesinski, democrat, showed why some were opposed to
the bill, There are still many private rights in America that under our Constitution
are beyond the power of government to regulate and one of these is the right to
pick and chose one s associates, one s friends and one s customers in a private
business (Calls Bill Unconstitutional 33). The final vote in the House over the
amendments the senate made was 289 to 126. This set the way for the bill to be
signed by the President to become a law.
The Civil Rights Act of 1964 contained eleven titles, or parts, that made the act
complete. The first title, Voting Rights , made sure that there was no discrimination
in literacy tests when determining voting ability. The Public Accommodations title
said there would be no discrimination or segregation in hotels, motels, restaurants, gas
stations, places that served food,
A Real American Hero
Analysis of Is the Wolf a Real American Hero? Arthur Middleton is a postdoctorate
at the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies. Her article represents
both the nature and process of scientific studies because she believed that the
wolves of Yellowstone story was misleading and she took steps to look for a more
accurate representation of the ecological changes in Yellowstone. The story of
Yellowstone was made popular because it made a lot of sense at the time, but she
realized that there was more to the story. The scientific knowledge we have from
Yellowstone was collected throughout many years of observation and trials, but it is
not the final say. Science is tentative and can be proven wrong or right if there is

influence as everyone thinks it is. She realizes the importance of the wolves of
Yellowstone and the effect it had on the public. It has raised interest in wildlife and
gave attention to efforts to conserve wildlife. She says this story also distracts from
some of the bigger problems at Yellowstone. After all, science is not about what
story will create the most buzz. In this case, it is about how we can raise awareness
for climate change, fungus and beetle infestations, natural gas drilling, killing of

that Middleton does not agree with, she used her knowledge and studies to educate
people on what is really going on in

  • 2. Role Of A Third Party For A Peace Operations Effort Shamella Tribble PUBP 651 Analysis Paper The role of a third party in a peace operations effort can be categorized as fragile and easily misconstrued. These groups can include international governments, UN and even NATO just to name a few. Their tasks mainly rely on incomplete data, inaccurate assumptions and the pressure from the outside world to fix the conflict all within a span of a CNN news hour. There are many factors which are taken into consideration by these groups. These factors are used to determine the plan and ultimately the overall success of the peace keeping mission. The plan can include funding, demobilization, reintegration and long term peace. These issues when not properly analyzed can cause difficulty in the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With increased access to what goes on around and the need for the next big story to bump up the networks ratings the need to take action has become necessary. Now this in itself is not necessarily a downfall of peace operations but the call for immediate action and even faster resolution often is. The 10 minute segment we see on the news channel on our way to work shows us the most gritty and violent piece of information and we take our demands to the government in an effort to stop the violence. Weak actors will want to socialize the conflict that is, to enlist allies in their cause against a greater power and to increase the perception of suffering (Bajraktari and Parajon 2007, par. 5). With this motivation the third party must now gather the advisors and top personnel to devise a plan that fixes all atrocities taking place on the nightly news. The international community would do well to recognize the danger of calibrating its responses to the substance and timing of the information it receives from media reports (Bajraktari and Parajon 2007, par. 6). There is no mistake that action should be taken as quickly as possible to diffuse the conflict as much as possible but the overall goal that seems to be

Fifty students (25 GG and 25 NGG) of Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh were taken as the subjects of the study. The age of the subjects ranged from 17 24 years. GG and NGG students were those who are studying in undergraduate course at AMU, Aligarh. The mental health status of the subjects was measured by using Mental health checklist (MHC) constructed by Kumar (1992). The t test was used to compare the mean score of GG students and NGG students. The result of the study indicated that significant difference exists between GG students and NGG students at 0.05 level of significance. They protect the original works of authorship, not the ideas they contain. In the United States, original works include literary, drama, musical, artistic, and certain other intellectual works. A computer program, for example, is considered a literary work and is protected by copyright. A copyright gives its owner the exclusive right to reproduce and distribute the material or perform or display it publicly. However, copyright lawdoes permit limited reproduction of copyrighted works without the owner s permission for fair use such as criticism, teaching, and news reporting. The creators of works protected by copyright, and their successors (generally referred to as right holders ), have certain basic rights under copyright law. They hold the exclusive right to use or authorize others to use the work on agreed terms. The right holder of a work can authorize or prohibit: its reproduction in all forms, including print form and sound recording, its public performance and communication to the public, its broadcasting, its translation into other languages, and its adaptation, such as from a novel to a screenplay for a film. Similar rights that the right holders may hold are: fixation (recording) and reproduction are granted under related rights. Many types of works protected under the laws of copyright and related rights require mass distribution, communication and financial investment for their successful disseminations (for example, publications, sound recordings and films). Hence, creators often transfer these rights to companies better able to develop and market the works, in return for compensation in the form of payments and/or royalties (compensation based on a percentage of revenues generated by the work). The economic rights relating to copyrights are of limited duration as provided for in the relevant World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) treaties beginning with the creation and fixation of the work, and lasting for at least 50 years after the creator s death. • 5. Liberal Arts Institutions Discussion The specific focus of this article is looking at how likely liberal arts institutions will adapt to their peer groups [similar liberal arts institutions in a consortium] by offering and awarding degrees in professional areas of study (e.g. business, communications, public affairs, etc.). The article also considers the influence of other institutional variables that may be more or less likely to predict the adoption of these professional programs. These additional variables seem to relate back to two previous discussion points, resource dependency, and field level dynamics. However, in order for institutional survival, the slow turning ship analogy often used to describe universities will not serve institutions for very much longer. OVERALL SYNTHESIS Each of the readings from week 9 play into each other, and themes emerge that can help build new theories and expand the opportunity for future research in institutional change. As referenced in Clark (2004), institutions are extremely complex, and arguably increasing their complexity with every passing year. The notion that one theory or framework can explain the best way for an institution to change is delusional. The influences of so many factors at play make approaches and explanations themselves just as complex as the organizations they are intending to change. Judith Sargent Murray s On The Equality Of The Sexes Analytical Essay: Judith Sargent Murray s On the Equality of the Sexes Judith Sargent Murray was a revolutionary woman born into a socially prominent and wealthy family during the start of the American Revolution, Murray was recognized for her intellect at a young age and given an education along with her brother. Later in life, she had her written works widely published and read during a time when women s voices were seen as fundamentally inferior to those of men. In one of her most influential and strongly opinionated works, On the Equality of the Sexes , Murray makes a strong case for the spiritual and intellectual equality of men and women, arguing that women and men are born equal, but that men are simply given more education and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Towards the end of On the Equality of the Sexes , Murray specifically invokes the story of Adam and Eve, a story used for centuries to depict women as the sinners, to turn the argument against itself and argue that Adam, or the men, are the real sinners in the Bible, as Adam knowingly breaks the rules while Eve was innocently deceived by the serpent. Adam could not plead the same deception, says Murray, nor ought we to admire his superiour strength, or wonder at his sagacity , implying that people overestimate the skills of men while dismissing the intellect of women as commonplace. The bigger takeaway from Murray s invocation of Adam and Eve is that it shows the audience that she is trying to make her argument more relatable by putting gender equality in the framework of the Bible, a piece of work that was not only a religious text, but a way of life for most people in Murray s time. By analyzing the Bible through a feminist lens and swapping the roles of Adam and Eve, Murray saved women s reputation as the repenting sinners, but in mentioning the Bible to justify her point, Murray ultimately retreats back to the practice of relying on others words to make her ideas worthy of public consumption. Murray also uses the Biblical story of Job to turn the argument of male superiority against itself and to strengthen the footing of her argument. At first, she concedes by recognizing that there are many passages in

  • 10. Drug Use And Its Effects On Society Despite the issues regarding the scientific studies, evidence has drawn positive links suggesting people who use drugs are more likely to engage in criminal activity than non users if simply because they are breaking the law to obtain the substance of use. Research does support this contention as people who are arrested for various crimes test positive to be under the influence of a drug at the time they committed their offense. However, the evidence remains elusive as to whether the drug use led to the crimeor the crime was separate from the drug use and related needs (i.e., money to buy drugs, territorial wars, etc.). Because of inconsistent data and definitions in reporting, statistical evidence is not empirical enough to draw hard conclusions regarding the relationship between drugs, including alcohol, and crime, or to quantify how much of that crime begins with the innocent seeming lighting up of a marijuana cigarette. In addition, when more than one drug is present, it is difficult to assess which of the two or more might have induced or inspired the criminal behavior, if any. The association between alcohol and violence illustrated through various studies makes it clear that correlations between drug use and crime are greater complicated through the presence of other dynamics such as socio demographic and personality characteristics. Given these cautions regarding the research and studies then, it is interesting to note that studies limited to marijuana only do not
  • 11. The Origin Of The Jews After The Babylonian Exile Chapter One Introduction The word Diaspora derives from the Greek Diasperien i.e. dia (through) and sperien (to scatter). According to Webster s dictionary, Diaspora refers to dispersion so we can say that the word represents a centre called home from where the dispersion occurs. In addition to it the dictionary it also associates the meaning with the dispersion of the Jews after the Babylonian exile. Thus we get two meanings of the word Diaspora as a spread of population and a forcible dispersal. However the term Diaspora doesn t mean any nomadic existence, though it suggests a movement from one place to another, but it s not a nomadic existence because it is somewhere a journey, however that does not mean all journey can be understood as that of a Diaspora. As in Diaspora does not mean causal travel, even though diasporic journeys are mainly about settling down and about having roots elsewhere. Thus, the concept of Diaspora has different meanings to different people according to their different circumstances. For instance, when the Jews were exiled from the Babylon, they were uprooted from their own homes and they had to rebuild their community and culture all over again, for them the diaspora had different meaning since it was forced. But today the meaning of Diaspora could be limited to any community of a particular nation outside its own country, sharing some common bonds that eventually give the community a new identity within their existing identity,

Several characters have not met certain emotional needs which leaves them searching for ways to meet these needs wherever possible. The way Granny Lin describes her relationship with Kang also shows how she has been deprived of romantic love her whole life. She wonders if this is the love she missed in her younger years, hand and hand with a dear boy and in the closing lines of the story she calls her time with Kang her brief love story (Li 18, 22). While I concede that Granny Lin s relationship with Kang is problematic given the age difference, I contend that, knowing what the reader knows about Granny Lin s lonely past, the relationship takes on a new light. The life Granny Lin led prior to her factory retirement left her emotionally starved and put her romantic and emotional desires in a state of dormancy. These buried and dormant desires were awoken by Old Tang, the object around which her feelings were able to manifest. After Tang s death, those feelings may have left Granny Lin feeling even more empty because now she was aware of them but had nobody to love. She was vulnerable due to her emotional and romantic cavities, while Kang was vulnerable because of his familial issues. Some might call Granny Lin s love for Kang predatory, but it comes

In his 39 years of life, Martin Luther King Jr transformed into a powerful activist for the Civil Rights Movement. He spoke passionately as an advocate for African American civil rights and he continuously advanced the Civil Rights Movement. One of the most prominent events that allowed the Movement to rise and conquer was his delivery of the I Have a Dream speech on August 28, 1963 which affected more than half the country (Gregory, 43). • 30. Analysis Of The Movie Network Right now, it s an industry dedicated to one thing. Profit. This quote by author, Paddy Chayefsky, perfectly sums up the motives behind the movie Network. From hiring soothsayers to risking a man s mental heath for the sake of a successful television program, the characters in Network have truly been blinded by fame and top ratings. This satire fiercely describes just how far a televisionnetworkwill go to achieve such accomplishments. In the 1950 s, television changed American entertainment from showing sitcoms to serious news broadcasts. In the movie Network, the setting revolves around a news station, where the ratings are suffering and the workers are growing desperate for attention. Television executive, Diana Christensen, is tirelessly racking her brain for the next big hit, and her ideas are deemed crazy by more than just one coworker; however, in desperation, her ideas are put to the test on live television. Even after news anchor, Howard Beale, has a mental breakdown on camera, Christensen fights to keep him on the air because of the rising success the network found in his entertaining yet uncontrollable rants about a failing society (Ebert). Eventually, Christensen manages to secure Howard Beale s very own television series featuring a soothsayer to predict future shows and Beale himself to demand people to take control of their lives. Almost all of his shows ended in him falling flat on the ground from fainting; this reveals the toll that the program is

Board of Education of Topeka, Kansas, officially making the separation of blacks and whites in public schools unconstitutional (Beals 12). This ultimately led to a constant struggle in the South to keep schools segregated. The most notable situation occurred in the town of Little Rock, Arkansas during the 1957 school year. Nine black students volunteered to integrate into Central High. This constant struggle to turn the Supreme Court ruling into a societal norm was documented by one of the Little Rock Nine. Melba Pattillo Beals s novel, Warriors Don t Cry, depicts the forces in favor of integration, forces opposing integration, and the constant adversity faced by the Little Rock Nine. The multiple forces in favor of integration were determined to gain access to Central High School and integrate public schools in the south. Before any integration was possible in the United States, the NAACP, or the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, was forced to file a lawsuit in the Federal District Court to integrate public schools immediately due to the public and state backlash towards integration (Beals 20). Many senators opposed to the bill tried to use the filibuster technique, which basically is an extended talk for the purpose of killing a bill or getting drastic modifications. The final vote in the Senate was 76 to 18 to pass their version of the bill since they made minor amendments to it (Bureau of National Affairs 18 21). A quote from Senator John Lesinski, democrat, showed why some were opposed to the bill, There are still many private rights in America that under our Constitution are beyond the power of government to regulate and one of these is the right to pick and chose one s associates, one s friends and one s customers in a private business (Calls Bill Unconstitutional 33). The final vote in the House over the amendments the senate made was 289 to 126. This set the way for the bill to be signed by the President to become a law. The Civil Rights Act of 1964 contained eleven titles, or parts, that made the act complete. The first title, Voting Rights , made sure that there was no discrimination in literacy tests when determining voting ability. The Public Accommodations title said there would be no discrimination or segregation in hotels, motels, restaurants, gas stations, places that served food,
  • 52. A Real American Hero Analysis of Is the Wolf a Real American Hero? Arthur Middleton is a postdoctorate at the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies. Her article represents both the nature and process of scientific studies because she believed that the wolves of Yellowstone story was misleading and she took steps to look for a more accurate representation of the ecological changes in Yellowstone. The story of Yellowstone was made popular because it made a lot of sense at the time, but she realized that there was more to the story. The scientific knowledge we have from Yellowstone was collected throughout many years of observation and trials, but it is not the final say. She asks the question, Does it really matter? that the wolves are not as big of an influence as everyone thinks it is. She realizes the importance of the wolves of Yellowstone and the effect it had on the public. It has raised interest in wildlife and gave attention to efforts to conserve wildlife. She says this story also distracts from some of the bigger problems at Yellowstone. After all, science is not about what story will create the most buzz. In this case, it is about how we can raise awareness for climate change, fungus and beetle infestations, natural gas drilling, killing of bison, and the invasive lake trout at Yellowstone. Instead of insulting the scientists that Middleton does not agree with, she used her knowledge and studies to educate people on what is really going on in

Even though this game is a great must own classic for the 7th generation of consoles, this game has loads of bugs and glitches. There are a lot of points in the game where you can just skip hours of game time with abusing the glitches. Like in Fallout 3 I got power armor and was able to use it on level eight because I walked through a boulder and encountered this random guy. This has always been a problem with all Bethesda games, the have grand open worlds, but have some many bugs and glitches in these worlds. Skyrim, however has the most enjoyable glitches and is definitely a time consuming game, you could spend hours, days, weeks or even months on completing this game. One big factor to getting this game or not is how important story is to you since like Fallout 3, the story is not always present and usually you have to look around the world to get a grasp on it. The real factor is if you like medieval themes since that is what sets this game apart the most from the Fallout series. No matter what I say though, is going to ruin this game since it able to overcome all issues of Skyrim. (Nitpick
