Argumentative Essay On Mass Media
Writing an argumentative essay on the topic of mass media can be quite challenging for several
reasons. Firstly, the subject matter itself is vast and multifaceted, encompassing various forms of
media such as television, radio, print, and digital platforms, each with its own set of complexities
and implications. Navigating through this vast landscape requires a deep understanding of media
theory, communication studies, sociology, psychology, and even political science.
Secondly, the role and impact of mass media in society are constantly evolving due to
technological advancements and cultural shifts. What may be relevant and controversial today
could become outdated or trivial tomorrow, requiring the writer to stay updated with the latest
trends, research findings, and case studies.
Thirdly, the topic of mass media often sparks intense debates and conflicting viewpoints.
Different stakeholders, including media professionals, policymakers, academics, and the general
public, hold diverse opinions on issues such as media bias, censorship, freedom of speech, the
influence of advertising, and the spread of misinformation. Crafting a well-rounded argument
that acknowledges these various perspectives while presenting a coherent and persuasive thesis
can be challenging.
Moreover, writing an argumentative essay requires extensive research to gather credible evidence,
statistics, and expert opinions to support the claims made. Analyzing and synthesizing this
information in a clear and logical manner, while also addressing counterarguments effectively,
demands critical thinking and analytical skills.
Furthermore, communicating complex ideas effectively in writing requires strong writing skills,
including the ability to structure arguments coherently, use appropriate language and tone, and
adhere to academic conventions regarding citations and referencing.
In summary, writing an argumentative essay on the topic of mass media is a challenging task that
demands a deep understanding of the subject matter, ongoing research to stay abreast of
developments, critical thinking to navigate diverse viewpoints, strong writing skills, and
adherence to academic standards.

How Failures in Financial Engineering Influenced the...
In this paper, an analysis of how the failures in financial engineering and Corporate
Governance have been closely related with the recent Global Financial Crisis is
carried out.
The Real Estate Bubble in 2006 leaded to the Subprime Mortgage Crisis in 2007
which expanded from the United States to the whole world generating the biggest
financial crisis since the Great Depression of the 1930s. There are multiple factors
that originate a crisis like this, and will be explained and analysed later, but in order
to understand the global economic situation it is necessary to understand how the
changes in the Corporate Governance have been one of the reasons of this and how
this changes have been motivated by the Financial Globalization.

After this, the Corporate Governance of financial companies changed to adapt to the
new markets that they were now able to cover.
Regarding the liberalization of the economy, once again the Corporate Governance of
the companies needed to change in order to fit the variation in the policy concerning
the reduction in the barriers to the free transit, which was inevitably implemented in
order to allow the Financial Globalization, and can be sometimes considered as a
source of instability.
Either way, both the reduction in the regulation of the banking system and the
liberalization of the economy leaded to the Financialization of the Economy,
understood as the process in which financial markets take a bigger relevance over the
primary and secondary sectors of the economy. Once again, this has consequences in
the Corporate Governance of the different companies because of three different
factors:
With the decrease in the intensity of the regulations, now all the parts involved in the
financial markets can move their assets from one place to another more easily.
After the clear limits between Investment Banking and Commercial Banking
disappeared in the 80s, new sorts of institutions that manage different markets at the
same time have appeared.
The collective investment schemes, through investment management groups, have
increased their relevance in the executive boards of the companies they own.
These factors have been the natural
Texting Vs Calling Research
Texting vs. Calling
Which is better?
Franklin D. Roosevelt once said, If civilization is to survive, we must cultivate the
science of human relationships the ability of all peoples, of all kinds, to live together,
in the same world at peace. The foundation of a human relationship is communication
. Undoubtedly, without decent communication skills, the ability to form relationships
would be virtually non existent. Throughout the years, our means of communication
have graduated from snail mail to email, landline phone calls to mobile phone
communication, and most recently the evolution of texting. What on Earth would we
do without the ability to text? Would we send each other letters? Would we call
someone every single time we have a question? The convenience of texting appeals to
society, instead of developing relationships through the menial labor of talking. Both
forms of communication have its advantages and disadvantages, although some are
more prominent than others. While both are forms of communication, one might
argue which is more convenient than the other, which one conveys tone better, and
which one has a more positive societal impact. ... Show more content on

For instance, when texting, the person has to await a response from the person they
are messaging. On the other hand, when calling someone, the response is nigh
instantaneous. Of course, when talking, it is impossible to edit the current
conversation. Texting allows people to metaphorically think before they speak,
whereas when calling someone while angry, words might be exchanged that are
unable to be taken back, especially in the heat of the moment. Although numerous
things can be done with texting, contacting an emergency service provider is not
one of them. However, it is easy to call emergency operators with a quick dial of
911. Thus, convenience over safety is not

The greatest advantage of fine needle aspiration is safety. Fatal complications like

However, pneumothorax remains the most common complication of CT guided lung

ranging from 5 to 64% . Pneumothorax was noted in 36.2% patients of my study

chest tube placement. It was found that the amount of lung traversed by the needle

this study, lesions with diameters equal to or larger than 40 mm supplied larger
amounts of adequate material for analysis than lesions with diameters of less than

the distance between the lesion and the pleural surface did not influence the

significant difference in obtaining adequate material between the peripheral and deep

This issue is exacerbated by the way that the kin of lawmakers, officials and private

Four Chinese Inventions
Located in East Asia, China has been around for over 5,000 years and is known as
one of the four ancient civilizations. As China developed into a great nation, the
government began to form dynasties in which China is ruled by a specific emperor.
The first dynasty to have an emperor was the Qin Dynasty, established by Shi Huang
Di. This notorious name was self proclaimed by him and literally translates into the
First Emperor of China. At the end of the Qin Dynasty, Shi Huang Di was overthrown
and China became conquered by another. Furthermore, these events spawned a new
dynasty called the Han Dynasty, which ultimately fell and created the opportunity for
another dynasty and so on. This incessant succession in governing Ancient China
continued... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Likewise, China produced inventions that contributed to not only their culture, but
the vast world of our past and present. Particularly, The Four Great Inventions have
made a tremendous impact on our society as humans. These are the inventions of:
Papermaking, Printing, Gunpowder, and the Compass, developed during the Song
and Yuan Dynasties. Starting with the art of papermaking, this process created a
writing surface other than bones, silk, or bamboo. Using plant fibers, Cai Lun of
the Eastern Han created a lightweight and smooth textured piece of paper as
opposed to heavy, rough bones or expensive silk. Then, Bi Shang of the Northern
Song Dynasty invented movable type printing, which was later updated and
succeeded by Europe. By applying baked clay in which text could be composed,
Shang could print the frame onto paper. Therefore, paper and printing were used as
expected: creating a source of entertainment in books, information on news,
producing art, and more. Progressively, the compass was conceived shortly
afterwards. The initial compass had a magnetic rod among a bronze case with twenty
four directions etched into it and was used until the 8th Century. Its brother
instrument used water to suspend itself and minimize movement, thus allowing long
distance sea navigation. Finally, the introduction of gunpowder had revolutionized
China and the world. Gunpowder, which is made of sulfur, charcoal, and potassium
nitrate, was discovered to burn rapidly, releasing immense volumes of gases. At
first, this was used for firework displays, but was found to also be a powerful
weapon. With the advantage of gunpowder, China had become a callous adversary in
Management Accounting Statement
Evaluate the following statement: Managers should not focus on the current stock
value because doing so will lead to an overemphasis on short term profits at the
expense of long term profits. The current stock value reflects the risk, timing, and
magnitude of all future cash flows, both short term and long term. Management
continuously has economic incentive to increase share value for two reasons. First,
managerial compensation, particularly at the top, is usually tied to financial
performance in general and often to share value in particular. For example, managers
are frequently given the option to buy stockat a bargain price. The more the stock is
worth, the more valuable is this option.
The second incentive managers have relates ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

This could most certainly be used as an example where many executives used
unethical/illegal behavior to further the company. This caused many of Enron s
shareholders to become affected and file a $40 billion lawsuit.
3. Critics have charged that compensation to top managers in the United States is
simply too high and should be cut back. For example, focusing on large
corporations, Robert Kotick, CEO of Activision Blizzard, earned about $64.9 million
in 2013. Are such amounts excessive? In answering, it might be helpful to recognize
that superstar athletes such as LeBron James, top entertainers like Tom Hanks and
Oprah Winfrey, and many others at the top of their respective fields earn at least as
much, if not a great deal more.
Compensation to high profile names in the United States are indeed extremely high.
Although these high profile managers, entertainers, and athletes work hard for their
money that does not make them harder workers than an average American trying to
support their families. However, in this day in age we are a population of people
who like to be entertained and we are the ones supporting these celebrities. As long as
we keep attending sporting events, buying merchandise, and pouring our money into

The banking industry also involves the practice of offering varied products which are
necessary to ensure that they are able to maintain the advantage in a highly
competitive field and the globalization has brought in different players who are vying
for the same number of customers and this forces the banks and financial institutions
to look for various avenues to meet the customer needs. However, it needs to be
understood that the Automatic Teller Machines (ATMs) had the most penetration in
the environment in comparison to other measures like phone banking, mobile
banking, and internet banking. There has been an exodus of offers with which the
banks have penetrated in the economy and this sea change has been made possible
by the availability of technology. However, there is a still a percentage of customers
who would believe in the concept of conventional banking in comparison to the
modern banking methods which are confusing and at times intrusive for the
conventional customer who would still rely on the bricks and mortar banking system
which works on hard physical currency being transacted over the counter. (Yaha and
Laura, 1990) There are many reasons for the deep distrust towards the advancement
that has been witnessed in the technology front, like the old age people who are not
adept at the system feel that it has nothing new to offer to them. However, the

It is necessary for caregivers to put their own needs first, before they take on the
responsibility of looking after a loved one affected by dementia. Offering a long

tending to older adults affected by dementia, can be extremely helpful for those who
are wanting to strive through this time in their life. The goal of this group is to help
participants gain a better understanding on how to handle stress, get them to
recognize and encounter their own needs, and decrease their isolation, by building

Confucian Scholar Dong Zhongshu And The Mandate Of
Heaven
Confucian historical texts provide pragmatic solutions to political projects, although
they operated in a culture that was seasoned with value laden principles from a
hybridization of Confucian, Daoist, and Buddhist schools of thought. This paper
focuses on the Confucian Scholar Dong Zhongshu; specifically, I will analyze his
thoughts on the Mandate of Heaven, the connection between the state human body,
and his expectations of rulership. As I proceed with this analysis, I will demonstrate
that Dong Zhongshu had a pragmatic political motive with his desire to be a member
of educated elites known as the junzi. To begin with, I press the rhetorical: question
was Dong Zhongshu a philosopher or an aspiring civil servant with philosophic
tendencies?... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This essay builds on what he has already said on the importance of the Mandate of
Heaven. Section one of the essay speaks to it being the role of the ruler to know
the true substance of things which Dong Zhongshu refers to as the practice of
eliminating obstructions (DeBary pp. 298 300). Rulers do this by becoming the
foundation of all state policy. Leading well necessitates a balance of virtue in
between two extremes. Having the responsibility to lead is a heavy burden that
mirrors the character of the ruler. Section two on responsibilities of rulership delves
deeper into the character of rulership. At this point Dong Zhongshu has established
that the heart of any successful state is the virtuous rulership of a sage leader
(DeBary pp. 298 300). Through the ruler the people either for better or for worse
transformed nevertheless that transformation is disseminated by the ruler. Sage rulers
will lead by strong example with inspiration derived from the three foundations of
heaven, earth and humankind. Reflecting on all of that it is apparent to me at least
that what we can see Dong Zhongshu doing in his essay concerning the
responsibilities of rulership advocates for the rulership, propagating political
influence by means of Confucian justification. Once again reiterating the point that to
oppose the rulership is to oppose the heavens. By fusing cosmology with the
Violence In Chinua Achebe s Things Fall Apart
Every author writes a book to depict a lesson or meaning. Things Fall Apart talked
about the various things that cease to exist. There were two main things that fell
apart in this book: the main character Okonkwo and religion. The meaning of this
book was to show that life is full of conflicts and if they are not confronted or
solved correctly, something or someone will collapse. Several scenes of violence
were found in this book. These scenes existed to contribute to the overall meaning
of the complete work. One scene of violence made a significant impact to Okonkwo.

Okonkwo s gun exploded and a piece of iron pierced through a boy s heart. The boy

This scene contributed to the meaning of the novel by showing how just one act
will change everything. Okonkwo fought to kill the missionaries and defended his
clan and their beliefs. However, he fell into disappointment when he found that no
one backed him. Everyone was in an uproar instead of preparing to fight. Okonkwo
saw that Umuofia had changed and felt sorrow. He found that the men who were
once strong and brave were now weak and scared. The clan was hopeless. The
messengers who ran away will possibly come back with more men and Umuofia will
end up like Abame. Finding it pointless to stay in a place in which there was
femininity in men and in which his beliefs were abandoned, Okonkwo killed himself.
This scene portrayed not only the destruction of Okonkwo, but the destruction of the
entire clan. The missionaries brought change and successfully converted some Ibo to
Christianity. Eventually, everyone will be Christian because no one was brave
enough to confront the missionaries and defend their religion. Change and the clash
of cultures caused things to fall

Top 10 Worst Roman Emperors
The Roman Empire was vast at its peak and its influence is still felt today in our
forms of military, government, and society in general. Ruled over for a time by
emperors, the empire had periods of greatness and periods of decline. This list
looks at ten of the emperors who have left their mark on history for being so
dreadful. Thesis statement? 10. Domitian: was born October 24, 5 in Rome with
his uncle Flavius Sabinus. When Vitellius forces besieged Rome and set fire to the
temple where Domitian was hiding, he was able to escape with 1 CE on
Pomegranate Street in the sixth district of Rome, youngest son of the future emperor
Vespasian (64 79 CE); his mother, Flavia Domitilla Major, died in his youth. Unlike
his much older brother, Titus, he did not share in the court education, although many
considered him bright. According to historian Suetonius, his rather degraded youth
was spent in poverty. In December of 69 CE while Vespasian was battling in the
eastern provinces in an attempt to secure the throne away from Emperor Vitellius,
Domitian was a friend across the Tiber to safety.

specification will result in different F 150 setups. The exterior of the F 150 is loaded
Gigli s Grand Theft Auto
Gigli s paper predicted the smash hit video game Grand Theft Auto pretty well
when describing low quality entertainment featuring violence, sexual content,
undesirable role models and lack of diversity . However, I thought much of her
paper is outdated and sees the ideal world through the eyes of her generation. The
Hunger Games (the books and the films) is a vision of the world through the eyes
of our generation. I will use this to address Gigli s concerns about the lack of
quality in and control over modern media. Before I do that, I would like to recap on
four of Gigli s concerns: The decreasing role of traditional sources of influence The
rise of individualism over collective achievement Young people thinking less for

Our generation is not, and we trust family, friends and even strangers in digital
networks. Our generation does not trust advertising any more. We are most
influenced by each other. We have to make our own decisions. Gigli s paper did
not predict how the Internet would change lives. Young people created Facebook
and YouTube and all of a sudden we were the ones creating the media. When we
want to know what a word means, we look it up straight away on Urban Dictionary.
If the entry is not there, we create it. Katniss in the Hunger Games faced many
dangerous situations but the children did work together they shared information
and food. They cared for each other even though they knew that would have to kill
or be killed in the end. We look to our peers, not authority, for advice. The Hunger
Games is a very uplifting portrayal of youth. It is also very violent, disturbing and
disrespectful of authority. It echoes the way we use new media we don t trust, but
we share with others and learn from their experience. Gigli is overall wrong: yes,
there is a total lack of quality control now in media, but it works in the same way the
brain works. We belong to neural networks that provide uswith experience and advice
from there we make our own decisions. The society that Gigli feared was not being
protected has changed. Values she thought were important are not as useful
An Analysis Of The EGP, Border Gateway Protocol
Moving away from IGP, now I will discuss the one and only EGP standard used
over the Internet, the BGP, Border Gateway Protocol, each version is just a slight
enhancement over the previous one. As mentioned before an EGP s purpose is to
connect one autonomous system to a different autonomous system and version 4
has been updated to accept classless domains as well as support for IPv6. It also
introduces a system to cut back on the amount of routing tables needed for a network
and can support most polices due to the internet being a hop count like routing
model, and BGP 4 supports hop counts. Not only that, it is a reliable protocol because
it uses the Transmission Control Protocol from the Transport Layer, which eliminates
the need for... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The autonomous systems use BGP to be visible to networks outside of it s on AS,
each AS is allowed to create its own policy, allowing for the way in which the
information should be routed. And lastly, because each autonomous system has its
own set of protocols, the IGP, where one or more is used to discover the
connections inside that network. (Lammle 928) I see it as everything as its own
responsibility within, allowing for BGP which is both versatile and flexible to
meet the demands of the packets that need to be forwarded, because everything has
its own task and its own set of rules making the procedure orderly and efficient. The
only similarity that RIP and BGP have is that they are routing protocols and route
information by using an algorithm to send the packets, otherwise they are
different in many aspects. One of the biggest differences between RIP and BGP is
that RIP is an IGP and BGP is an EGP, but you can say they work together to get
their task done. If information from an autonomous system that has RIP needs to
send information to another autonomous within its limit of 15 hop counts, BGP
helps to bridge that gap. The other biggest difference is RIP is a simple protocol
meant for the use of a small network, while BGP is vast and a highly complex
protocol that can be considered as the management system of transferring data of
numerous amounts of autonomous systems. BGP can also be seen as the major
backbone
Immanuel Kant s Categorical Imperatives
Immanuel Kant was an eighteenth century moral philosopher who disliked the values
of the popular ideals of utilitarianism. Thus, he created his own philosophy known as
Kantian ethics. According to Kant, the most important factor in determining if an
action is ethical is an individual s motive. In his teachings, Kant describes that the
true rightness of an action depends on whether or not an individual fulfills his or her
duty to be moral not, the consequences of the actions taken. Kant seems to deem that
a moral action is not based on human emotions nor is it based on self interest but
rather, a moral action is taken due to a sense of duty.
The greatest issue with this method of thought involves motives. Due to the fact that
Kantian ethics ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Kant explains this law with the shopkeeper example. The shopkeeper who acts out
of compassion is not cheating his customers but is not acting morally since the
action is taken out of self interest. The shopkeeper who acts out of duty is acting
morally. The action taken is only right and has moral worth if it is taken due to moral
duty regardless of the whether or not the outcome is positive or negative.
There are several arguments against Kantian ethics. One of the issues with Kant s
ideas is that it does little to explain how to act when in a situation where moral
duties will conflict. What should an individual do when there are conflicts of
duty? For example, if an individual is forced to choose between telling the truth
but, kill his or her family or to lie and save his or her family what should the person
do? Kantian ethics states that telling a lie is always wrong. It also considered bad
for a person to not follow the moral duty towards one s
Giovanni s Room By James Baldwin
The two novels Giovanni s Room by James Baldwin published in 1956 and Price of

characters having trouble publicizing their sexual orientation due to the way
society would view them. There location of living have a big impact on their
actions of expressing their sexuality towards other people or themselves. During
the 1950 s, homosexual activity was prohibited. People who were found having an
affair with the same sex was often given a consequence for their actions. Even

He met Giovanni in a gay bar that was owned by one of his friends named
Guillaume. David kindly offered to buy Giovanni a drink and they hit it off with
each other since then. Paris was known for having a high population in the LGBT
community. There was a lot of bars, clubs, restaurants, and shops (Wikipedia 2015,
para. 2). When David bought Giovanni drinks at Guillaume s bar, other men took
notice of their interaction with each other. It wasn t hard to tell that they had an
instant attraction towards each other. Once he noticed that people were looking at
them, he stopped instantly. Though David was already publicizing his sexual
orientation from being in the bar, he couldn t come to realization for himself nor to
others. As he stated to Giovanni, It is a crime in my country, and, after all, I didn t
grow up here, I grew up there (Baldwin 45). Though David was in Paris where it
wasn t looked upon as much, he still believed that it was morally wrong for two
same sex genders to be together; especially since he knew his family wouldn t accept
him for it. David showed his lack of acceptance through the rejection of Giovanni s
affection.
Since Paris was known for city life and being accompanied by a lot of people, there

The National Socialist Party And The Downfall Of The...
From the beginning of the National Socialist Party s rise to power to the downfall
of the conquering Nazi regime, the ideology of a racially and biologically superior
Germany was a large motivating force for the actions taken by the regime s leaders
and its people. National Socialist supporters saw the fictitious Aryan raceas the pure,
master race of Germany, while minority races and religions, namely Jews, as well
as any subculture that did not follow Nazi ideology or social norms, were deemed
as inferior sub humans. Despite the connection of race superiority between Aryan
men and women, however, women, somewhat similarly to racial minorities, were
perceived as submissive, lesser humans to the Nazi political leaders when compared
to the supposedly influential and flawless Aryan men. Men, according to Nazi
ideology, are who make history and will devote [their] powers towards the victory of
Germany and the domination of the Aryan race over Europe. Yet, for the Aryan race
to successfully rule Europe, a new and large generation of pure Aryan Germans must
come into fruition, thus the need for Aryan women s compliance in bearing many
children was essential.
Great importance was placed on the preservation of traditional gender roles,
specifically the role as a mother, and the separation and segregation of the worlds of
men and women. Women were continuously told that they are biologically different
from men to rationalize why their worlds, careers, and activities should

Outline
This is the reflective essay of my overall team experiences during the Managing
organisations and people course this trimester. Reflecting upon the past and its
experiences will enable me to broaden my communication, ability in solving
conflicts and enrich my future expertise. To look back at my group work all this
while helped me in gaining the knowledge to face the real world. Frankly saying
never did I work in a group or a team before, so it was a different experience
altogether. This paper will give me an opportunity to explore through various
aspects of my role in our team. My role being a key speaker perfectly suited my
personal character. I found this job interesting as matching our personal traits with

In contrast diversity in a group will help the members come up with non identical
ideas and views thereby finishing the task with better efficiency (Leonard, Graham,
Bonacum, 2004). All the members started feeling important in the team, which
therefore overpowered the negatives arising due to the diversity. According to
Waller (2004), Gupta (2004) Giambatista (2004), proper communication without
any deviations play a key role in boosting the productivity of the overall team.
Nixon (2014), Johnson and Wiggs (2011) claimed that effective speaking is key
for a good team. Also the research (Wu Xiao, 2011; Peterson, 2012) supports my
argument. It says that the individuals in a team should be frank in their approach
and should stand by their own arguments until completely convinced by the logic.
Hence I tried not to give up on my opinion as Danks (2012, p24) categorized a clear
and reasoned thinker and communicator . Clear communication and open expression
of views and ideas will build up the cohesiveness of team. This in turn also develops a
better understanding which is a must to work together.
Later on, the work was delegated within us to improve the self, show courage,
persistence and effective determination (DuPont 2013, p.69). Here I should also
mention about the challenges and the way we handled them. However improper

Golden Age Of Absolutism Essay
The Age of Absolutism, ranging from 1550 1800, was a period of time where
monarchs successfully gathered wealth and power of states thus allowing the
world to witness the emergence of the Absolute Monarch . The beginning of the
absolutism unarguably originated in Spain with King Philip II who remained in
power for 42 years, claiming he ruled by divine right. Philip II not only extended
Spain s power during his time as an absolute monarch but also led Spain through a
Golden Age from the years 1550 1650. Philip II founded academies of both
mathematics and science leading to an increase in education and was also an avid
patron of the arts which helped Spain prosper during this golden age by allowing
famous writers such as Lope de Vega to emerge.... Show more content on

rights of the French nobility. The palace of versailles acted as a possible housing

Louis XIV also pressured the whole senior nobility to spend copious amounts of
time at Versailles as a means of political control in order to contain them and help

The American Civil War was Unavoidable Essay
The American Civil War was unavoidable. Because of regional and political disputes
the country would have continued to boil even if the extremists on both sides were
kept under control. No matter what was done politically a conflict was necessary to
eradicate slavery from this continent. Anger in the South was becoming a growing
trend. The Southerners were angered by the fact that, in their view, the North was
trying to dissolve their way of life. CongressmanRobert Toombs of Georgia says, if
by your legislation you [northerners] seek to drive us from the territories...I am for
disunion . This Congressman from the South is so intent on making slaves legal in

In the North opposition to slavery and the belief that the country can not survive
divided were becoming the more dominant train of thoughts. Abraham Lincoln
said that a house divided can not stand . He felt that either the country would be all
slave or all free, but he knew fully that abolitionists would not give up. He also felt
though that this issue would be resolved and that he did not expect the Union to be
dissolved . He obviously thought that the South would give up easier, but he was
wrong. In Uncle Tom s Cabin by Harriet Beecher Stowe she shows how evil slavery
was in Document C by basically showing the cruelty that slaves had to endure and
that Southern slave holders were evil with no remorse. She shows that slaves are
mistreated and that this can not go on (P C). With political leaders such as Lincoln
believing that someone, particularly the South, would give in and authors such as
Stowe showing the evils of slavery people in the North were bound to believe that
slavery should be abolished. With more and more people feeling strongly about this
in the North a conflict was bound to occur. In conclusion the question why...can we
not withdraw this vexed question [of slavery in the US] from politics posed by
Stephen Douglas can be answered in this way. The reason why the US could not just
forget about the slavery issue and let people decide for themselves if they wanted

Galileo s Condemnation Of Grace Summary

The Catholic Church s Authority vs. Galileo s Correctness
In his Letter to the Grand Duchess Christina and Ballarmine, Galileo s disagreement
about the relationship between Copernicanism and Scripture was rooted in Galileo s
views of the separation between theology and astronomy. The purpose of this letter
was to show that the Catholic Church s condemnation of Conpernicanism is
inappropriate since Galileo claims that arguments about the physical world have no
bearing on church authority, as it was properly understood. I will argue that the
Catholic Church s rejection of Galileo s ideas was because of the Church s desire for
control.
As a religious man, Galileo concluded that for the physical conclusions of celestial
motions (in astronomical and geometrical aspects), the Bible alone cannot explain
the physical meanings, I do not feel obliged to believe that the same God who has
endowed us with senses, reason and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When Galileo s astronomical claims became public, it was a large blow to The
Church. The Church claimed that he was undermining the power of Scripture. If it
had publically accepted Galileo s claims, the Church s authority would be further
questioned. By suggesting that the earth revolved around the Sun, Galileo was
questioning centuries of what people regarded to be the truth, and this did not sit
well with the Church leaders. However, he did explain that he was not questioning
the Bible itself, but questioning the interpretation of the Bible by those in positions
of spiritual authority. In all likelihood, there were people within the realm of the
Church who believed Galileo. They were not able to assert their views because of
the poor image of diminishing authority. Interestingly, there was no solution to not
being able to speak out about one s views if they were opposing the
Jack O Lantern Research Paper
Are you tired of the messy and exacting process of carving out Jack O Lanterns?
While it s easier to place several un carved pumpkins around your deck, you know
this short cut will disappoint your kids. Halloween is a special time for them and
although the candy is an important part of it, Jack O Lanterns glowing in the dark

create this most classic of seasonal deck decorations that will glow in the dark
without any carving.
How to Make Jack O Lanterns with No Carving Required
With this technique, the pumpkins are painted with either a luminescent paint that

The face should consist of cut out sections. These can be sections for the eyes, nose,
and mouth for example.
Step 2 With a pair of scissors, cut out the sections. This will leave you with the cut out
sections themselves and the contact paper that s left behind.
Step 3 Now you will pull the backs off the contact paper and place the paper on the
pumpkin. Make sure the pumpkin s surface is clean so that the paper will stick. At
this point, you have a choice. You can either cover the pumpkin with the contact
paper left behind that has holes for the eyes, nose, and mouth, or you can stick the
cut out sections themselves on the pumpkin. The first choice will give you a
pumpkin that has glowing eyes, nose, and mouth. The second option will give you
the negative of the first. That is, the eyes, nose, and mouth will be dark while the rest
of the pumpkin will glow.
Step 4 Apply the luminescent or black light paint to the pumpkin (on the sections not
covered by the paper). The paints can be purchased at a store or online. Avoid using
spray paint because this requires an area with lots of ventilation and a paint mask.
Paints that brush on are much simpler to

Parallelism Between Education And Science In Carl Sagan

Parallelism between Education and Science
With education and scientific evidence, individuals still deny science on the premise
of their own pre conceived thoughts while religion has the ability to divide and make
a conversation political. These differences in beliefs often lead to an elephant in the
room, or someone feeling uncomfortable and as though they cannot vocalize their
perspective. Carl Sagan made it his life s mission to defend the world of science. He
compiles thoughts that the reader must digest and formulate hypotheses. Sagan,
vocalizes his strong support for science while remaining epistemologically neutral to
some extent allowing the reader to hear the inverse argument between the two sides.
In the New York Times Bestseller, The Demon Haunted World, Carl Sagan talks
about the importance of science and ultimately the benefits it has for everyone. He
further elaborates on his life experiences and critiques how many Americans think,
reflecting his belief that science is a worldview and many who attempt to legitimize
pseudoscience. By definition, epistemology can be defined as the theory of
knowledge, epically with regard to its methods, validity, and scope. Epistemology is
the investigation of what distinguishes justified beliefs from opinion (Mastin, 2008).
Sagan argues that science works so well is partly that built in error correcting
machinery. There are no forbidden questions in science, no matters too sensitive or
delicate to be probed, no sacred

The Shaping Of North America
UNIT ONE: Terms and Concepts
I. The Shaping of North America
1.History was beginning first recorded 6,000 years ago. 500 years ago Spaniards
discovered the Americas and soon started colonizing the new lands.
2.The theory of Pangaea suggests that the continents were once stuck together into
one huge continent. Eventually they started drifting into separated landmasses, which
gave birth to the modern continents.
3.Geological forces by the continental plates created the Appalachian and Rocky
Mountains. The continental plates collided with each other, forming mountain chains.
4.The last Ice Age was spread heavily throughout North America, especially the
modern Midwestern United States.
II. Peopling the Americas

The three main Native American peoples included the Incas of Peru, the Mayas of
Central America, and the Aztecs of Mexico. The Incas built a large network of
roads and bridges linking their vast empire, which now composes the Andean states.
The Mayas were mainly in the Yucatan Peninsula, but also in modern day Guatemala
and Belize. They built magnificent pyramids. The Aztecs also built pyramids and
practiced ritual sacrifices of captive peoples. The Aztecs would cut the heart out of
the captive peoples as an offering for their gods.
III. The Earliest Americans
1.The development of corn, also known as maize around 5,000 B.C. in Mexico was
a great success for their people, for they didn t have to be hunter gatherers anymore,
they could settle in a certain area and become farmers. Towns and cities quickly grew
throughout Mexico, and corn arrived in the modern day United States around 1,200
B.C.
2.The Pueblos Indians were the first American corn growers. They lived in adobe
houses and pueblos. Pueblos are villages of cube shaped adobe houses, stacked one
on top the other and often beneath cliffs. They had advanced irrigation systems to
divert water away from rivers to grown corn.
3.The so called mound builders built big ceremonial and burial mounds that were
located in the Ohio Valley. Cahokia, near East St. Louis today, had a population of
about 40,000 people.
4.The Eastern Indians grew corn, beans, and squash in a system. Three sister farming

Pros And Cons Of Offshore Drilling
In today s world, oil plays a very important role in our everyday lives. It is used
daily for various things which includes: transportation, electricity, heat etc. Most of
the oils we use either came from underground drilling or came from other
countries. But because of the decrease of supply in oil, people started to look for
alternative ways to find oil. Offshore drilling became the new way of oil drilling. It
is an oil extraction technique that extracts oil from the sea bed. There are both pros
and cons to offshore drilling. In my opinion, the cons outweighs the pros. One of
the most obvious pro of offshore drilling is that it greatly increases the amount of
oil we use for fuel and energy, which in terms helps out our economy. It also allows
us to not rely on other countries to supply the oil. This can help us reduce the oil
price because if the oil is produced in our own country, other countries don t have a
say on the oil price. Another pro of offshore drilling is that it creates more job
opportunities for people. Many skilled people are needed to operate the equipment,
which opens up doors for new workers.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are many risks involved in this job which includes fires and drowning. Since
the rigs are in the middle of the water, it is difficult to escape in case of an
emergency. Offshore drilling also leads to a lot of environmental problems. One of
the problem is carbon emissions. High amounts of carbon emission is put into the
atmosphere causes by the drill that is used to drill the seabed. This contributes to the
global warming problem. Another major problem is oil spill. Oil spills causes a lot
of damage to the marine life. It also contaminates the water. All the fishes in the ocean
can be contaminated and it can go up the food chain affecting all other organisms
Female Foeticide

The term female foeticide means killing the female foetus in the mother s womb.
How cruel? The practice has been followed in India for ages, a country that once

why? Just for the mere want of a boy, mothers don t feel bad in strangulating their
daughters in their wombs. Can anyone be more cruel? In India, sex ratio stands at a

National Girl Child Day The Voice of Tomorrow
Forty Six years ago, on January 24, India got her First Lady Prime Minister Mrs.
Indira Gandhi. The nation of male dominance stood standstill in the awe of the
power of this one lady whose determination spoke volumes. Today, India stands high
in the race of urbanization but in the genre of social development, it is away behind.
It is an irony in this country that where mother is worshipped as Mother Divine, there
is domestic violence. In a country where Kumari Puja is done, there is female
foeticide.
It is in this need to raise public awareness, the United Progressive Alliance (UPA)
government declared to observe January 24 as the National Girl Child Day in 2009.
This day will be celebrated every year till there is a gender balance in the country and
till the time we match the required sex ratio, said Renuka Chowdhury, then Minister
of State for Women and Child Development1.
According to a United Nations survey in 2007, about 2000 unborn girls are
illegally aborted each day in India. The national average of sex ratio is 927 females
to 1000 males with states like Punjab (799) and Delhi (850) being the worst2. With
this fearing declining rate, the gender gap seems difficult to be achieved. The
importance of the Girl Child should be on the national agenda for nation building and

Black Death In Western Asia
The Black Death was tragic there was not much to do but just hope that everything

Asia. The Western Asian countries were devastated by the epidemic of the Black

The bubonic plague is known as the Black Death, Between the years 1346 to 1353, a
terrible disease swept over Western Asia, The Middle East, North Africa and Europe,
causing catastrophic losses of population everywhere, both in the countryside and in

That might be the reason to why it came back later on in the 1300 s. Others

frightened people desperately sought somebody to blame for the spread of the

Winners Catcher In The Rye
On the contrary to phonies, there are of course winners to this game of life.
However, the winners aren t alway really winners especially through Holden s
eyes. On that note, there are many characters in the novel that I would consider we
as readers would believe them to be the winners . The first character is Stradlater.
Stradlater, Holden s roommate, is the sort of boy that schools like Pencey are
made for: good looking, athletic, well rounded, and above all else, absolutely
normal (10 Pinsker). Stradlater is destined to become one of the very Joe Yale
looking guys whom Holden feels almost obliged to hate, partly as a matter of
overcompensation and partly because this is how smooth talking, terribly sincere
sounding prep school Romeo ends... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Much like when you lose a game, you move on from it and let it go, Holden lost
Jane but he cannot move on from her nor let her go. Moreover, the game of
checkers is a big scene that relates the two characters in the story and possesses
many symbolizations to who Jane is, or to what Holden believes she is. Jane as
with Holden...has problems with the common sense of competition; she doesn t
have a bloodthirsty bone in her checker moving hand (11 Pinsker). Jane Gallagher
s kings in the back row are rather like the purity of snow in winter: white, unsullied,
and, in Holden s word, nice (11 Pinsker). What Holden fears is that Jane will move
her kings out if the back row and that Stradlater will jump her, that she will no
longer be the sad, virginal girl she once was (12 Pinsker). In the arithmetic of
Salinger s symbolism, they suggest an aversion to risk, a need to be protected for
if Jane moves her king onto the playing field of a checker board, it might, after all,
be jumped (11 Pinsker). All in all, the game of checkers symbolizes the innocence
and Holden s fear that if she moves her kings or plays the game, then she will
become just another player in the game of
Morality In Bertrand Russell s The Happy Life
The first virtue, honesty, is essential to a life free of selfish morality. Having an
honest motivation for one s actions is what defines the morality of the action itself.
To do the right thing for the sake of doing the right thing is what makes it right. If
an action is performed by virtue of the fact that it is what is perceived as moral
rather than what is personally moral to the individual it becomes a false moralityor
selfish altruism. Bertrand Russell gives a perfect example of this in his literary
work, The Happy Life when he expounds that saving a drowning child for the sake
of a direct impulse to help versus a calculated desire to be seen as virtuous denotes
two contrasting moral values (Source 1).The person who saves a... Show more content

The same holds true for humans. A man s legacy is nothing without others to honor
it. A man s legacy is the people that he touches and the impacts that he makes to
benefit his fellow man, stupendous or minute. A man is nothing without his legacy.
The next virtue, generosity is as important to the happiness and well being of a
man s mind as a hearty meal and exercise are to a man s body. Without selflessness
comes a loss of community and consequently, with a loss of community comes a
decline in quality of life. With generosity, however, comes selflessness. The
fulfillment that is gained from helping another human being is one of the purest
forms of happiness that can be achieved. It is a broad, communal happiness that
enriches the hearts of all involved. To live the good life is to be morally upright

obstructs happiness and delayed one s chance to taste the good life. from a
utilitarian perspective a dismissal of generosity when generosity is possible can be
akin to murder. Peter Singer gives a bright example of this when he equates not

Research on Density Essay
Density: Using Experimental Techniques to Solve an Inquiry based problem
ABSTRACT
The topic of this experiment is Density. The objective is to find two ways in which
the density of a given object can be determined, and to find out which of the two
ways is more accurate and hence better to use in such a case. The two methods used
in this experiment are finding the dimensions of the object and water displacement.
These are two ways of finding the volume of an object, and they were chosen since
the density of an object may be found using its mass and its volume. The experiment
yielded two different density values, however when error analysis was conducted, the
water displacement method was proven to be more accurate.

Repeat measuring the mass of the object three (3) more times; ensuring that the
balance is re zeroed after each measurement. Tabulate data gathered. Procedure 2:
Find the mass of the object given, as done in procedure 1. Ensure that the object is
dry when it is being placed on the balance, as this will yield an inaccurate reading.
Get a clean 1000milliter beaker. Fill the beaker to approximately half its capacity.
Note the exact volume of water placed into the beaker. When reading the volume of
the water, ensure that this is done at eye level, and that it is read at the bottom of the
meniscus. After noting the initial volume of water, place the object carefully into the
water. DO NOT SPLASH. Note the final volume of water in the beaker. Tabulate data
gathered.

Narrative Essay On Bullfrog
Nearly every kid at some point in their childhood has had a certain toy or item they
would do anything to have. That one item consumes every thought in that kid s
mind and if that kid was like me, they will not stop trying until they have it in their
possession. During part of my first grade year, this one item was the bullfrog
Webkinz. Why a bullfrog you may ask? That was the one my brother was asking for
on his birthday in a few weeks and I was up for any possible way I could beat him or
compete with him, no matter what it was. Nearly all of my friends and classmates
already had multiple Webkinz and I didn t have a single one.
Now it came to the hard part: how I was going to get it. I had already begged and
pleaded for it from my parents to the point I annoyed them so much i m pretty sure
my mom wanted to scratch her eyes out every time I spoke a word about that
Webkinz. She even refused to let me go to the store with her, knowing I would
quickly escape to the Webkinz rack and I would glue my feet there until she
practically had to drag me out the doors. She then proceeded to tell me that the only
way I was going to own it was if I saved up my money and that doing so was a good
lesson for when I was older . ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Practically the only time I got money was my birthday and Christmas and I was a
very impulsive kid, I definitely did not save any of it. I earned a couple dollars
from a lemonade stand where the only customers were my parents and the lady that
lived next door whom we pressured into getting a cup. My solution finally fell into
place the following weekend when we went to the park in downtown Plymouth for
some kind of concert. After setting up all of our chairs, I left the group to go throw a
coin into the massive, prodigious fountain which has always been my favorite feature
of the park. My wish before casting it into the water was pretty predictable: I wished

Physical activity is vital for the healthy growth and development of toddler and
infants. For toddlers, play is an essential part of learning. It s how they develop
physical skills, confidence and life skills for the future. There are many available
options for infants to go and play and develop those skills, like GymbaROO or Kids
Aquatic Survival School (KASS) that provide lots of opportunities and benefits for
the kids.
The GymbaROO provides many benefits for young infants as they offer a range of
physical activites and appropriate exercises that enable toddlers aged 0 5 to explore,

When a child I young and between the ages of 0 5, they are very shy and reliant of
their parents, so not allowing them in the water to hold their hand, help them or
encourage them is consequently letting the infant not reach it s full potential.
Physical activity can also be identified in dancing, which is what OZ TOTS tries to
embody whilst still making it fun and enjoyable for the toddlers. OZ TOTS embraces
all the elements of music movement whilst incorporating preschool skills, it is a fun
and playful environment that integrates specially tailored classes in different dance
styles coached by older students. The program not only encourages your child to
develop their coordination through music and dance. It also makes significant
contributions to, developing creativity, building social skills and enhancing their
physical development. On the other hand, there are many faults to the physical
activity that OZ TOTS provides including the fact that the staff members are older
students, not specially trained professionals who can deal with very young children.
Older students cant provide the learning capability and techniques needed to teach the
young students, control them behavior wise as well as provide them with a healthy
and active activity.
To conclude, I believe that there are many sufficient options provided for this age
group that will help the toddlers
Animal Testing Persuasive Essay
Throughout history, animal experimentation has played an important role in leading
to new discoveries and human benefits. However, what many people tend to forget
are the millions of animals that are tortured or killed during the process of these
painful, deadly experiments. Many people seem to misunderstand animal nature and
the laboratory procedures and techniques that are executed on the animals. The
procedures are cruel, unreliable, and harmful. Luckily there are more humane
alternatives that have also proved to be less expensive. I assume many of you have
pets including cats, dogs, rabbits, and mice. Imagine yourself as your pet, but
instead of living in a warm home with a caring family, you live locked up in a small
metal cage,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some might even consider it abuse. It is something that goes unnoticed every day
because of the benefits that humans gain from it. Animal testing is overshadowed by
advancements in the medical field. However, no product or medicine makes it
acceptable. Just because humans are considered a more powerful species, doesn t
give us the right to treat animals as if they are nothing. Would you want to be treated
that way by a more dominant species just for their benefit? It is clearly unfair. If you
pull your cat s tail, it yells because it hurts. Animals experience pain. They go through
the same pain that we would if we were subjected to painful, deadly experiments.
Whether it s a dog, cat, rabbit, mouse, chimpanzee, or human, pain is something we
all feel. However, when you compare the anatomy of a cat to that of a human, you can
find numerous differences, making animal testing unreliable and sometimes even
dangerous. Some might say that animal testing is crucial to scientific research but
how can something be so crucial if the results are not even completely accurate?
Luckily, there are alternatives for animal testing including computer models, cell
structures, and human testing. Although some may argue that computer models and
cell structures are unreliable, so is animal testing. You are given the choice between
two unreliable methods, except in one, you are not killing an innocent creature.
Human testing is also a more just method. If the results are

A Brief Note On Transportation And Logistics Management
In the vast industry that is transportation and logistics management, has a lot of
influence on the economy of the United States. One of the reasons for the close
connection of the industry and U.S economy is because of globalization, and in the
content of this paper we will examine different segments of the industry, and how
they affect the economy in different ways. Addressing specific segments of the
industry tells us just how important each segment is to the economy, instead of
speaking of the industry in general. Throughout this research paper we will be
looking at five specific transportation and logistics operation within the industry. The
airlineindustry is very important to the many cities within the United States, creating a
number of jobs because of the ability that airports have to connect cities to the rest of
the world. Job created through the air transport systems that help boost a cities
economy is tourisms and airport jobs, which can help to transform a city. The cruise
shipindustry also help boost cities, which operates port of call for the cruises that
operate from them. Cruises also generates many jobs in the tourism sector as people
sometimes have to fly and overnight from different cities to board these cruises.
Another major factor that is affecting the industry is globalization and how it is able
to create jobs and help improve the economy. Other areas in the transportation and
logistics industry that has an affect on the economy is the overuse of
Book Report On Fenn Valley Vineyards Essay
Fenn Valley Vineyards
On September 9th, a group of friends (Charlotte Fung, Renee Swartz, and Anthony
Dilernia), and I travelled to Fennville, MI to tour Fenn Valley Vineyards. For the
tour, our guide was Todd, who is a graduate from Michigan State University with a
degree in horticulture. Besides being a tour guide at Fenn Valley, Todd is also the
Vineyard Manager, his job responsibilities are trying to get the highest quality grape,
obtain the highest grape yield given the limitation during the growing season and try
to improve the leaf to grape ratio.
About Fenn Valley
Fenn Valley is a 43 year old vineyard that operates on a 240 acre farm. Even though
it has 240 acres only 83 acres are currently cultivated. The manager mention that the
vineyard could possibly expand another 5 acres if needed, but after that, all the land
has been used. Because Fenn valley has reached capacity on their farm, they are
receiving grapes from three other farms in South West Michigan through contracts.
Contract are agreements between wineries and grape growers. Everything in these
contracts are laid out: the number of years they will be doing business together, the
price quantity of fruit produced each year, the manner in which the grapes are grown,
and who will be doing actual work. (the farmer, the winery, a vineyard management
firm) An interesting fact given on the tour about these contacts is that each party
involved is require either to give a three year notice before ending the
Personal Values Beliefs And Values
Personal values, beliefs, and principles are necessary for individuals to know about
themselves. However, when asked the question, what are your personal values,
beliefs, and principles the first responses are often a laundry list of characteristics
with the assumption that the three words are synonymous. From my experience,
when asked this question the list grew longer and I started to wonder what the
differences existed between each of these terms. Recognizing these differences is a
major component of discovering how I make decisions when facing ethical
dilemmas involving directives that may be morally unsound. Hence, I began the
search of how the terms relate, their meaning and what my answer is to this question.
Since I invested time to find the differences in principles, beliefs and values my long
list became more defined. So, the essay will encompass the definitions of the terms,
explain two elements for each category, how they relate to one another and how the
knowledge influences tough decisions. Values
What are values and what makes these different from principles and beliefs? Various
references agree that values are the motivations and behaviors used to determine
priorities of what one sees as important in life and work (MindTools.com, 2017;
Atkins, 2017; Value, n.d.). The definition applied my list of characteristics illustrated
how I desire to represent myself and what I value most. First, I value commitment to
my principles, which my faith as a Christian
Key Elements Of Rhetorical Analysis
Key Elements of Rhetoric
Rhetoric is always situational and always has context context is the occasion or time

Rhetoric also includes a purpose, a goal that the speaker or writer wants to achieve
Lou Gehrig s purpose was to keep positive and always look on the bright sides of
situation
Gehrig maintains focus, giving the word rhetoric a definition of sincerity
Identifying purpose and context in more complex situations can be very difficult
We first ask about the context then consider the purpose
Context can also arise from cultural bias

Logos
Writers and speakers appeal to logos for logic and reason. Logos is very rational with
a clear, main idea
The main idea must be logical
Counterargument is another way to appeal to logos, anticipating and opposing views
In an argument you first agree, then refute, strengthening your argument
Pathos
Pathos can be very powerful, targeting emotion
Writing that consists of mainly pathos is hardly effective logically, but adds an
important dimension
Strong, positive connotations are more effective to pathos for an audience
Pathos is propagandistic and polemical, evoking the emotions of the audience
Emotional appeals include vivid, concrete details, and a lot of

Typical solutions to this issue, according to Badenhorst, Moloney, Rosales, Dyer,

Statement of the Problem
As an increasing number of non native English speaking post secondary students
enroll in United States post secondary institutions, research shows that faculty are not
well prepared to address their academic writing errors. Based upon the background of
the problem, non TESOL trained native post secondary faculty lack both the
knowledge and the sense of agency regarding assessment and treatment of their non
native English speaking students academic writing errors. As such, non TESOL
trained faculty may not even address errors when assessing typical NNES student
academic writing, potentially stunting the NNES students academic writing
progression (Haswell, 1998; Janopoulos, 1992; Jenkins, Jordan, Weiland, 1993).
These faculty members may also overlook or have an inconsistent view of NNES
plagiarism consequences, or even viewed as a developmental stage in NNES
writing or that NNES writers have not been normed to the academic standards of the
United States (Park, 2003; Keck, 2006; Ellery, 2008). Some faculty disagree over the
penalty that should be assigned to plagiarism, particularly when it comes to students
who have not
Martin Luther And The Reformation Of The Protestant...
Martin Luther became one of the most influential figures in Christian history. He
began the protestant reformation in the 16th century. He also called into question
some of the basic tenets of Roman Catholicism and eventually his followers soon
split from the Roman Catholic Church to become protestant. He was known to be a
very controversial man not just for his writing of the ninety five thesis but for others
and in his later years his feeling about the Jews. His teaching of the bible is what lead
to the reformation of the Protestantism. Martin Lutherwas born on November 10,
1483 into a peasant household. Luther at a young age attended school at a church
where he grew up and was baptized. At this school he studied Latin, religious
education, ten commandments, the Lord s Prayer, and the children s creed. When
Luther got a little older his parents sent him to a monastery to continue his
education. After the monetary he continued his education at Eisenach where he
excelled and rose to the top of his class. He was very smart so he was able to move
on to Erfurt where he could study law. His parents hoped that with this high up in
society profession that he would be able to get out from under the peasantry life. At
Erfurt he received his bachelors in 1502 and his masters in 1505. Both would
prepare him for studying law and a doctorate in jurisprudence.
In January 1505 Luther made a trip home and on his way back to his school Erfurt
he was caught in a very dangerous
The Position Of Women In The Ancient World Have Always
The position of women in the ancient world have always been portrayed in a bad
light. Women were thought to be manipulative, submissive, and weak compared to
men. These roles of women have been handed down history. Women bought into
this because it was a way for them to gain power. Power in the ancient world was a
means for securing a safe life for women and their family. Women would manipulate
others in order to gain power for their sons and husbands. The reason for this was
because if their male relative was associated with power, they too would have power
and security. The portrayal of witches fed into the idea that women were manipulative
and only sought to gain power. Witches transgressed traditional ideas of femininity.

In book 10 of Homer s Odyssey, he describes Circe as being a fail locked women
who lived on the island of Aaia. When Odysseus and his men arrive on the island,
they encounter Circe and her home. Homer describes the house of Circe as built
with polished stones, in a sheltered place. Around it were wolves of the mountain
and lions, which Circe herself had enchanted, for she had given them evil drugs (
Ogden 95). The enchanting of the wolves around Circe s home suggests that she
inherited the powers of Hecate. Hecate, too, was associated with animals like
wolves and dogs. Circe was also powerful enough to turn Odysseus men into pigs.
She did this by blending baleful drugs into the food, so that they should forget their
homeland completely. But when she had given it to them and they had drunk it
down, she immediately struck them with her wand and shut them into pigsties
(Ogden 95). Circe, just like Hecate, had the power to bring the dead back to life in
order to learn about things. Circe also went by the name pharmakeia, which is the
greek word for witchcraft and the act of making drugs. Therefore, it would only
make sense that Circe had gained all the powers and qualities of Hecate because she
was her daughter. Medea too attributed her magical powers from Hecate. Most of

Argumentative Essay On Mass Media. ESSAY 6 - THE MEDIA 1 Mass Media Advertising

  • 1. Argumentative Essay On Mass Media Writing an argumentative essay on the topic of mass media can be quite challenging for several reasons. Firstly, the subject matter itself is vast and multifaceted, encompassing various forms of media such as television, radio, print, and digital platforms, each with its own set of complexities and implications. Navigating through this vast landscape requires a deep understanding of media theory, communication studies, sociology, psychology, and even political science. Secondly, the role and impact of mass media in society are constantly evolving due to technological advancements and cultural shifts. What may be relevant and controversial today could become outdated or trivial tomorrow, requiring the writer to stay updated with the latest trends, research findings, and case studies. Thirdly, the topic of mass media often sparks intense debates and conflicting viewpoints. Different stakeholders, including media professionals, policymakers, academics, and the general public, hold diverse opinions on issues such as media bias, censorship, freedom of speech, the influence of advertising, and the spread of misinformation. Crafting a well-rounded argument that acknowledges these various perspectives while presenting a coherent and persuasive thesis can be challenging. Moreover, writing an argumentative essay requires extensive research to gather credible evidence, statistics, and expert opinions to support the claims made. Analyzing and synthesizing this information in a clear and logical manner, while also addressing counterarguments effectively, demands critical thinking and analytical skills. Furthermore, communicating complex ideas effectively in writing requires strong writing skills, including the ability to structure arguments coherently, use appropriate language and tone, and adhere to academic conventions regarding citations and referencing. In summary, writing an argumentative essay on the topic of mass media is a challenging task that demands a deep understanding of the subject matter, ongoing research to stay abreast of developments, critical thinking to navigate diverse viewpoints, strong writing skills, and adherence to academic standards. • 2. How Failures in Financial Engineering Influenced the... In this paper, an analysis of how the failures in financial engineering and Corporate Governance have been closely related with the recent Global Financial Crisis is carried out. The Real Estate Bubble in 2006 leaded to the Subprime Mortgage Crisis in 2007 which expanded from the United States to the whole world generating the biggest financial crisis since the Great Depression of the 1930s. There are multiple factors that originate a crisis like this, and will be explained and analysed later, but in order to understand the global economic situation it is necessary to understand how the changes in the Corporate Governance have been one of the reasons of this and how this changes have been motivated by the Financial Globalization. It ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After this, the Corporate Governance of financial companies changed to adapt to the new markets that they were now able to cover. Regarding the liberalization of the economy, once again the Corporate Governance of the companies needed to change in order to fit the variation in the policy concerning the reduction in the barriers to the free transit, which was inevitably implemented in order to allow the Financial Globalization, and can be sometimes considered as a source of instability. Either way, both the reduction in the regulation of the banking system and the liberalization of the economy leaded to the Financialization of the Economy, understood as the process in which financial markets take a bigger relevance over the primary and secondary sectors of the economy. Once again, this has consequences in the Corporate Governance of the different companies because of three different factors: With the decrease in the intensity of the regulations, now all the parts involved in the financial markets can move their assets from one place to another more easily. After the clear limits between Investment Banking and Commercial Banking disappeared in the 80s, new sorts of institutions that manage different markets at the same time have appeared. The collective investment schemes, through investment management groups, have increased their relevance in the executive boards of the companies they own. These factors have been the natural
  • 3. Texting Vs Calling Research Texting vs. Calling Which is better? Franklin D. Roosevelt once said, If civilization is to survive, we must cultivate the science of human relationships the ability of all peoples, of all kinds, to live together, in the same world at peace. The foundation of a human relationship is communication . Undoubtedly, without decent communication skills, the ability to form relationships would be virtually non existent. Throughout the years, our means of communication have graduated from snail mail to email, landline phone calls to mobile phone communication, and most recently the evolution of texting. What on Earth would we do without the ability to text? Would we send each other letters? Would we call someone every single time we have a question? The convenience of texting appeals to society, instead of developing relationships through the menial labor of talking. Both forms of communication have its advantages and disadvantages, although some are more prominent than others. While both are forms of communication, one might argue which is more convenient than the other, which one conveys tone better, and which one has a more positive societal impact. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For instance, when texting, the person has to await a response from the person they are messaging. On the other hand, when calling someone, the response is nigh instantaneous. Of course, when talking, it is impossible to edit the current conversation. Texting allows people to metaphorically think before they speak, whereas when calling someone while angry, words might be exchanged that are unable to be taken back, especially in the heat of the moment. Although numerous things can be done with texting, contacting an emergency service provider is not one of them. However, it is easy to call emergency operators with a quick dial of 911. Thus, convenience over safety is not
  • 4. Pneumothorax Essay The greatest advantage of fine needle aspiration is safety. Fatal complications like systemic air embolism , haemorrhage or pericardial tamponade have been described. However, pneumothorax remains the most common complication of CT guided lung FNAC. Review of the existing literature reveals variable rates of pneumothorax, ranging from 5 to 64% . Pneumothorax was noted in 36.2% patients of my study population. In three patients (5.2%) moderate pneumothorax was seen requiring chest tube placement. It was found that the amount of lung traversed by the needle size of the lesion is significantly associated with development of pneumothorax. Size of the lung masses of inadequate sample groups (37.7В±5.3) were significantly smaller statistically (p value=0.01) compared to the group where sample was adequate (54.69В±3.49). This is in agreement with the study by GuimarГЈes et al In this study, lesions with diameters equal to or larger than 40 mm supplied larger amounts of adequate material for analysis than lesions with diameters of less than 40 mm. This study also stated that the superior lobe lesions supplied a proportionally larger amount of adequate material for analysis when compared with other locations. However this finding was not noted in my study. Layfield et al. reported that the location of thoracic lesions affect the sample adequacy of CT guided FNAC of the lung lesions, with peripheral and larger lesions providing more adequate sample. However Yankelevitz et al. GuimarГЈes et al23 both showed that the distance between the lesion and the pleural surface did not influence the probability of obtaining adequate sample. In my study also, there was no statistically significant difference in obtaining adequate material between the peripheral and deep seated

  • 6. Four Chinese Inventions Located in East Asia, China has been around for over 5,000 years and is known as one of the four ancient civilizations. As China developed into a great nation, the government began to form dynasties in which China is ruled by a specific emperor. The first dynasty to have an emperor was the Qin Dynasty, established by Shi Huang Di. This notorious name was self proclaimed by him and literally translates into the First Emperor of China. At the end of the Qin Dynasty, Shi Huang Di was overthrown and China became conquered by another. Furthermore, these events spawned a new dynasty called the Han Dynasty, which ultimately fell and created the opportunity for another dynasty and so on. This incessant succession in governing Ancient China continued... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Likewise, China produced inventions that contributed to not only their culture, but the vast world of our past and present. Particularly, The Four Great Inventions have made a tremendous impact on our society as humans. These are the inventions of: Papermaking, Printing, Gunpowder, and the Compass, developed during the Song and Yuan Dynasties. Starting with the art of papermaking, this process created a writing surface other than bones, silk, or bamboo. Using plant fibers, Cai Lun of the Eastern Han created a lightweight and smooth textured piece of paper as opposed to heavy, rough bones or expensive silk. Then, Bi Shang of the Northern Song Dynasty invented movable type printing, which was later updated and succeeded by Europe. By applying baked clay in which text could be composed, Shang could print the frame onto paper. Management Accounting Statement Evaluate the following statement: Managers should not focus on the current stock value because doing so will lead to an overemphasis on short term profits at the expense of long term profits. The current stock value reflects the risk, timing, and magnitude of all future cash flows, both short term and long term. Management continuously has economic incentive to increase share value for two reasons. First, managerial compensation, particularly at the top, is usually tied to financial performance in general and often to share value in particular. For example, managers are frequently given the option to buy stockat a bargain price. The more the stock is worth, the more valuable is this option. The second incentive managers have relates ... For example, focusing on large corporations, Robert Kotick, CEO of Activision Blizzard, earned about $64.9 million in 2013. Are such amounts excessive? In answering, it might be helpful to recognize that superstar athletes such as LeBron James, top entertainers like Tom Hanks and Oprah Winfrey, and many others at the top of their respective fields earn at least as much, if not a great deal more. Compensation to high profile names in the United States are indeed extremely high. Although these high profile managers, entertainers, and athletes work hard for their money that does not make them harder workers than an average American trying to support their families. This paper focuses on the Confucian Scholar Dong Zhongshu; specifically, I will analyze his thoughts on the Mandate of Heaven, the connection between the state human body, and his expectations of rulership. As I proceed with this analysis, I will demonstrate that Dong Zhongshu had a pragmatic political motive with his desire to be a member of educated elites known as the junzi. To begin with, I press the rhetorical: question was Dong Zhongshu a philosopher or an aspiring civil servant with philosophic tendencies?... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This essay builds on what he has already said on the importance of the Mandate of Heaven. Section one of the essay speaks to it being the role of the ruler to know the true substance of things which Dong Zhongshu refers to as the practice of eliminating obstructions (DeBary pp. 298 300). Rulers do this by becoming the foundation of all state policy. Leading well necessitates a balance of virtue in between two extremes. Having the responsibility to lead is a heavy burden that mirrors the character of the ruler. Section two on responsibilities of rulership delves deeper into the character of rulership. At this point Dong Zhongshu has established that the heart of any successful state is the virtuous rulership of a sage leader (DeBary pp. 298 300). Through the ruler the people either for better or for worse transformed nevertheless that transformation is disseminated by the ruler. Sage rulers will lead by strong example with inspiration derived from the three foundations of heaven, earth and humankind. Reflecting on all of that it is apparent to me at least that what we can see Dong Zhongshu doing in his essay concerning the responsibilities of rulership advocates for the rulership, propagating political influence by means of Confucian justification. It also introduces a system to cut back on the amount of routing tables needed for a network and can support most polices due to the internet being a hop count like routing model, and BGP 4 supports hop counts. The autonomous systems use BGP to be visible to networks outside of it s on AS, each AS is allowed to create its own policy, allowing for the way in which the information should be routed. And lastly, because each autonomous system has its own set of protocols, the IGP, where one or more is used to discover the connections inside that network. (Lammle 928) I see it as everything as its own responsibility within, allowing for BGP which is both versatile and flexible to meet the demands of the packets that need to be forwarded, because everything has its own task and its own set of rules making the procedure orderly and efficient. The only similarity that RIP and BGP have is that they are routing protocols and route information by using an algorithm to send the packets, otherwise they are different in many aspects. One of the biggest differences between RIP and BGP is that RIP is an IGP and BGP is an EGP, but you can say they work together to get their task done. If information from an autonomous system that has RIP needs to send information to another autonomous within its limit of 15 hop counts, BGP helps to bridge that gap. The other biggest difference is RIP is a simple protocol meant for the use of a small network, while BGP is vast and a highly complex protocol that can be considered as the management system of transferring data of numerous amounts of autonomous systems. BGP can also be seen as the major backbone

In his teachings, Kant describes that the true rightness of an action depends on whether or not an individual fulfills his or her duty to be moral not, the consequences of the actions taken. For example, if an individual is forced to choose between telling the truth but, kill his or her family or to lie and save his or her family what should the person do? The purpose of this letter was to show that the Catholic Church s condemnation of Conpernicanism is inappropriate since Galileo claims that arguments about the physical world have no bearing on church authority, as it was properly understood. I will argue that the Catholic Church s rejection of Galileo s ideas was because of the Church s desire for control. Step 3 Now you will pull the backs off the contact paper and place the paper on the pumpkin. Make sure the pumpkin s surface is clean so that the paper will stick. At this point, you have a choice. You can either cover the pumpkin with the contact paper left behind that has holes for the eyes, nose, and mouth, or you can stick the cut out sections themselves on the pumpkin. The first choice will give you a pumpkin that has glowing eyes, nose, and mouth. The second option will give you the negative of the first. Parallelism between Education and Science With education and scientific evidence, individuals still deny science on the premise of their own pre conceived thoughts while religion has the ability to divide and make a conversation political. These differences in beliefs often lead to an elephant in the room, or someone feeling uncomfortable and as though they cannot vocalize their perspective. Carl Sagan made it his life s mission to defend the world of science. He compiles thoughts that the reader must digest and formulate hypotheses. Sagan, vocalizes his strong support for science while remaining epistemologically neutral to some extent allowing the reader to hear the inverse argument between the two sides. In the New York Times Bestseller, The Demon Haunted World, Carl Sagan talks about the importance of science and ultimately the benefits it has for everyone. He further elaborates on his life experiences and critiques how many Americans think, reflecting his belief that science is a worldview and many who attempt to legitimize pseudoscience. By definition, epistemology can be defined as the theory of knowledge, epically with regard to its methods, validity, and scope. Epistemology is the investigation of what distinguishes justified beliefs from opinion (Mastin, 2008). Sagan argues that science works so well is partly that built in error correcting machinery. It is used daily for various things which includes: transportation, electricity, heat etc. Most of the oils we use either came from underground drilling or came from other countries. But because of the decrease of supply in oil, people started to look for alternative ways to find oil. Offshore drilling became the new way of oil drilling. It is an oil extraction technique that extracts oil from the sea bed. There are both pros and cons to offshore drilling. In my opinion, the cons outweighs the pros. One of the most obvious pro of offshore drilling is that it greatly increases the amount of oil we use for fuel and energy, which in terms helps out our economy. It also allows us to not rely on other countries to supply the oil. This can help us reduce the oil price because if the oil is produced in our own country, other countries don t have a say on the oil price. Another pro of offshore drilling is that it creates more job opportunities for people. Many skilled people are needed to operate the equipment, which opens up doors for new workers.... Jane as with Holden...has problems with the common sense of competition; she doesn t have a bloodthirsty bone in her checker moving hand (11 Pinsker). • 37. Morality In Bertrand Russell s The Happy Life The first virtue, honesty, is essential to a life free of selfish morality. Having an honest motivation for one s actions is what defines the morality of the action itself. To do the right thing for the sake of doing the right thing is what makes it right. If an action is performed by virtue of the fact that it is what is perceived as moral rather than what is personally moral to the individual it becomes a false moralityor selfish altruism. A man s legacy is the people that he touches and the impacts that he makes to benefit his fellow man, stupendous or minute. A man is nothing without his legacy. The next virtue, generosity is as important to the happiness and well being of a man s mind as a hearty meal and exercise are to a man s body. Without selflessness comes a loss of community and consequently, with a loss of community comes a decline in quality of life. With generosity, however, comes selflessness. The fulfillment that is gained from helping another human being is one of the purest forms of happiness that can be achieved. It is a broad, communal happiness that enriches the hearts of all involved. To live the good life is to be morally upright and to be morally upright is to help those around you simply in debt to the fact they need help, even if it is at some cost to you. Putting generosity on the backburner shows a wanting of concern for the well being of the community and therefore obstructs happiness and delayed one s chance to taste the good life. from a utilitarian perspective a dismissal of generosity when generosity is possible can be akin to murder. The objective is to find two ways in which the density of a given object can be determined, and to find out which of the two ways is more accurate and hence better to use in such a case. The two methods used in this experiment are finding the dimensions of the object and water displacement. These are two ways of finding the volume of an object, and they were chosen since the density of an object may be found using its mass and its volume. Would you want to be treated that way by a more dominant species just for their benefit? It is clearly unfair. If you pull your cat s tail, it yells because it hurts. Animals experience pain. From my experience, when asked this question the list grew longer and I started to wonder what the differences existed between each of these terms. Recognizing these differences is a major component of discovering how I make decisions when facing ethical dilemmas involving directives that may be morally unsound. Hence, I began the search of how the terms relate, their meaning and what my answer is to this question. Since I invested time to find the differences in principles, beliefs and values my long list became more defined. So, the essay will encompass the definitions of the terms, explain two elements for each category, how they relate to one another and how the knowledge influences tough decisions. Values What are values and what makes these different from principles and beliefs? Various references agree that values are the motivations and behaviors used to determine priorities of what one sees as important in life and work (MindTools.com, 2017; Atkins, 2017; Value, n.d.). The definition applied my list of characteristics illustrated how I desire to represent myself and what I value most. First, I value commitment to my principles, which my faith as a Christian

Restriction Digestion of Unknown Vector An unknown vector (0.1 Вµg/ВµL) was assigned to the group for restriction enzyme digestions. The vector could be either pUWL 500 or pUWL 501.Three enzymes, Pst I, Bgl II, and Eco RV, and their combinations were used to single, double and triple digest the unknown vector. A total of nine tubes of digestion mixtures were made for this experiment. Each digestion mixture contained 5 ВµL of unknown plasmid, 1.5 ВµL NEB Buffer, 1 ВµL of the restriction enzymeor 1 ВµL of each enzyme if the mixture was a double digestion, and distilled water to a total volume of 15 ВµL. • 48. The Importance Of Education In Post-University Students proficiency issue because these communities vary and each discipline has its own standards and traditions (Angelova Riazansteva, 1998). As NNES students come from all over the world, their relationship with texts, data, and information sources vary due to each individual student s influence circle, type of media they have (or have not) been exposed to, and the cultureand history of their country (Fox, 1994). Typical solutions to this issue, according to Badenhorst, Moloney, Rosales, Dyer, and Ru (2015), have been to require students to enroll in add on classes in academic writing or speaking, or to direct them to workshops to help improve their linguistic proficiency. Avery and Bryan (2001) suggested that the add on instruction for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Statement of the Problem As an increasing number of non native English speaking post secondary students enroll in United States post secondary institutions, research shows that faculty are not well prepared to address their academic writing errors. Based upon the background of the problem, non TESOL trained native post secondary faculty lack both the knowledge and the sense of agency regarding assessment and treatment of their non native English speaking students academic writing errors. As such, non TESOL trained faculty may not even address errors when assessing typical NNES student academic writing, potentially stunting the NNES students academic writing progression (Haswell, 1998; Janopoulos, 1992; Jenkins, Jordan, Weiland, 1993). These faculty members may also overlook or have an inconsistent view of NNES plagiarism consequences, or even viewed as a developmental stage in NNES writing or that NNES writers have not been normed to the academic standards of the United States (Park, 2003; Keck, 2006; Ellery, 2008). Some faculty disagree over the penalty that should be assigned to plagiarism, particularly when it comes to students who have not

  • 50. The Position Of Women In The Ancient World Have Always The position of women in the ancient world have always been portrayed in a bad light. Women were thought to be manipulative, submissive, and weak compared to men. These roles of women have been handed down history. Women bought into this because it was a way for them to gain power. Power in the ancient world was a means for securing a safe life for women and their family. Women would manipulate others in order to gain power for their sons and husbands. The reason for this was because if their male relative was associated with power, they too would have power and security. The portrayal of witches fed into the idea that women were manipulative and only sought to gain power. Witches transgressed traditional ideas of femininity. They were... When Odysseus and his men arrive on the island, they encounter Circe and her home. Homer describes the house of Circe as built with polished stones, in a sheltered place. Around it were wolves of the mountain and lions, which Circe herself had enchanted, for she had given them evil drugs ( Ogden 95). The enchanting of the wolves around Circe s home suggests that she inherited the powers of Hecate. Hecate, too, was associated with animals like wolves and dogs. Circe was also powerful enough to turn Odysseus men into pigs. She did this by blending baleful drugs into the food, so that they should forget their homeland completely. But when she had given it to them and they had drunk it down, she immediately struck them with her wand and shut them into pigsties (Ogden 95). Circe, just like Hecate, had the power to bring the dead back to life in order to learn about things. Circe also went by the name pharmakeia, which is the greek word for witchcraft and the act of making drugs. Therefore, it would only make sense that Circe had gained all the powers and qualities of Hecate because she was her daughter. Medea too attributed her magical powers from Hecate. Most of
