I went to the Marshall M. Fredericks Sculpture Museum for my art experience
project. I was impressed with the amount of statues I was able to see in one place.
A majority of them seem to have been created and donated by the Fredericks family
themselves. As I said before the amount of statues in this little space is impressive,
however my first impression is the feelingof claustrophobia.
The statues are packed in fairly tight and the space overall doesn t seem to be well
utilized. The room it was in did however provide an ample amount of natural light
from the large windowed wall to the north. This coupled with the recessed lighting
did a good job of lighting the statues facing the northern wall. Unfortunately
though, some of the statues are facing the southern wall and lose a little detail to
not being as well lit from only the recessed lighting. The contrast between well lit
and dimly lit does lend to contrast in light and shadow for the statues facing the east
and west walls. The contours of these statues are much more defined because of the
line of contrast so they seem to draw me in the most. I also get this cold feeling,
even though the floors are more of a warm/neutral color. I believe this is due to the
lack of a large amount of the statues not being colored at all. The few that are
colored are just antiqued bronze so they are mostly that powder blue/green color.

Abstract United Airlines Flight 811 left Honolulu bound for Auckland, New
Zealand on February 24, 1989. A few minutes in the flight the cargo doors blew out
and because of the decompression, nine passengers were immediately sucked out of
the plane. The debris from the cargo door damaged the planes Number 3 and 4

There were reports that there disturbing problems with the forward cargo door
going right back to its original design. Instead of a plug door that gets jammed into
its frame as the aircraft pressure rises, Boeing opted for an outward opening door
which allows for more cargo space but the door is not failsafe like the plug design
so Boeing built was they thought was a fool proof locking mechanism. Boeing
built in multiple redundancies to make sure the door is properly latched and does
not open. They built it to a point where it is extremely improbable for the door to
open. The Campbell s discovered that the problem lies with the locking
mechanism. To lock the cargo door on the 747, electric motors rotate C shaped
latches around pins in the door frame. A handle then moves L shaped arms known
as locking sectors over the top of the C shaped latches to prevent them opening. But
as early as 1975, problems were found with the locking sectors. Kevin Campbell, an
experienced engineer, built a model to show the weakness of the Boeing design.
Initially the locking mechanisms were made of aluminum and in 1975 they did not
realize that it was not strong enough. The weakness of the aluminum drastically

biography on a cross country star and her rise to the top, but also her spiral
downward with her personal battle to win. Leslie Heywood was a long distance
runner with no weakness or fear. Heywood takes us through her early years filled
with eating disorders, sexual abuse, and an unhappy home life. It wasn t a drive to

changes in the population and economy. However, underneath the surface of the
seemingly improved society, many people were victims of corruption and unstable

A Summary On Action Plan
Summary of Action Plan
This information was gathered in an interview with Andrea Williams, Principal of
Theresa Bunker Elementary School. The action plan most recently implemented was
the Continuous Improvement Plan (CIP) for the 2015 2016 school year. This is the
strategic action plan that is required by the state each year. The district sets forth
goals each year with input from the principals in June. The schools in this district
start each year planning the CIP for the current school year. This plan has 5 goals
included in the plan. The first goal is that 75% of students in K 3 will score
proficient on the state s reading inventory assessment. A second goal is for 75% of
students in 3rd 6th to meet or exceed the state s percent proficient in the state s
ELA and Math standardized tests. A third goal is for students in 1st 6th to show
growth by having an SGP score of 40 or higher on the spring testing of the STAR
math and reading. A fourth goal is to have 100 percent of teachers participate in the
PLC process for 60 minutes per week to focus on the 4 essential questions. The final
goal is to have 85% of students being successful in school using only the Tier I PBIS
strategies used by the classroom teachers. This action plan included strategies, action
steps, and resources as well as a timeline for completing the implementation of this

In the United States and many other countries throughout the world, societal
structures have been created to place some in a position of power and others into
oppressed positions. These systems often remain unchallenged and force the
oppressed into silence for fear of becoming outcasts. These systems affect everyone
and can even go as far as making the oppressed internally believe that they are
supposed to stay in their second class state. One of these many systems is

Fish (2008) states some of these assumptions such as same sex couples cannot
provide the appropriate gender role models, same sex parents will raise their children
to be gay, and children will be bullied because they have parents who are both of the

Brennan, Craig, and Thompson (2012) state in their study that there is a link between
gay and bisexual men s obsession with thinness and muscularity and internalized
homophobia. In their study they linked gay and bisexual men to depression, eating
disorders, and internalized homophobia. Their experiment was based around the
theory that people adopt certain characteristics to have access to privileges in a
society and be accepted by the dominant group. Brennan et al. s (2012) results
showed that of the men who showed higher levels of internalized homophobia they
also exhibited higher drives for muscularity. This relates to heterosexism because gay
and bisexual men are not considered the norm. This is why many gay and bisexual
men have this obsession over being thin and muscular, partly because of internalized
homophobia. This stems from an overcompensation act to try and be more masculine
in an attempt to balance out their sexual orientation. It relates back to the idea of
acceptance. They are consciously or unconsciously rationalizing that this will make
them more accepted whether it is true or not.
