Using icons is a great way to add visuals to your presentation. There are many ways to get icons online, some are even free. But if you need a specific icon that you can’t find or if you want a special spin to your icon (color, shadow etc) – you can use PowerPoint’s great (and somewhat hidden) “Merge Shapes” commands to create your own icons.
Using these commands you can combine basic shapes into other shapes. You can union and subtract shapes. You can intersect and combine. All while still working natively inside PowerPoint. Once you have created an icon you can change the color, filling and add shadows as needed.
It is just as fun as building with Lego blocks! Well, almost..
This is a guide in 15 steps showing you how you can use these commands to create your own icon - the example we are using is a calendar icon.

A TEDx University of Piraeus 2015 Presentation
A personal story of how I managed to overcome my fears and proceed to changes that finally helped me to overcome these fears and turn my hobby into a profession.
Everyone needs to change if he wants to succeed. But almost everyone is afraid of changes. This is the first thing to change and the biggest obstacle to overcome: the fear of change itself.
This presentation will help you to do just that. Thank you for reading (and hopefully, changing).
Welcome to the Program Your Destiny course. In this course, we will be learning the technology of personal transformation, neuroassociative conditioning (NAC) as pioneered by Tony Robbins. NAC is used to deprogram negative neuroassociations that are causing approach avoidance and instead reprogram yourself with positive neuroassociations that lead to being approach automatic. In doing so, you change your destiny, moving towards unlocking the hypersocial self within, the true self free from fear and operating from a place of personal power and love.
3. Each person has hobbies and one of mine is to create
presentations :)
4. So, Having more free time on my hands than usual
during my summer vacations, I set out to create a
presentation about my favorite subject...
5. Coming to think of it, it's very easy to create a
presentation.
6. However it's really difficult to create a presentation
that will keep your audience engaged,
without making it yawn their jaws off
till the slides run out.
8. 1. Plan your Presentation
2. Kill Bullet Points
3. Use Photos
4. Differentiation is Everything
5. Keep audience at the edge of their seats
6. Rehearse it
7. Use examples and stats
8. Look into the eyes of your audience
10. 1
Plan your presentation
beforehand
Think about what point you want to make before starting todump
information intoa powerpoint file. It's better to create a word file withwhat
you want to say, divide your presentation in sections and thenget started.
This will certainly keep things tothe point while simultaneously saving you a
bit of effort later on.
12. 2Try to create slides withsmall amounts of text, as listeners are generally not
inclined tofollow a massive presentation and learn it by heart.
However, they will easily remember quotes or short sentences.
Kill bullet points
14. 3No photos from Google though. Either buy stock photos or use freely
provided ones in good quality. A nice picture always gives a bit of extra
flair to any presentation. However, donot forget that in case that you do
use free photos you have to give credit to their creator.
As the saying goes, a picture = 1000 words!
Use photos
16. 4You surely have seen lots of presentations adorned withamazing
pictures.Nonetheless, this doesn't necessarily mean that all of them
are good, or that they can keep the audience engaged.
This is mainly because eachpresentation must come witha story and
the proper structure.
Think about jokes for example. Each joke has a very specific structure
that helps expand the storyline.
Differentiation
is everything
18. 5Try to structure your presentation in a way that will keep your audience
engaged from the beginning till the end.Start by presenting the subject
of your presentation, analyseit and expand it gradually and keep some
of the best bits for the end.
Keep your audience at
the edge of their seats
20. 6No matter how well you thinkyou know your presentation, rehearsing it
will help you put things in the right order and get confident. It's almost
imperative that you learn at least the main points by heart.Try not to
leave it last minute if you want to make the impression you intended to
from the beginning.
REHEARSE IT
22. 7Always try to use examples. It's much easier for your audience to
understand what you want to say through a well placed example and
properly presented statisticaldata, than through tons of theory. In case
you present case studies from previous projects, try to pick the ones
you know you can explain and analyse best.
USE EXAMPLES AND
SHOW SOME STATS
24. 8Visit the venue earlier than the time of your presentation tofeel more
comfortable withthe space.
In case of conference, attend all previous presentations soas to
understand the type of the audience and how it reacts.
LOOK INTO THE EYES
OF YOUR AUDIENCE
