The American Dream Essay
Crafting an essay on the subject of "The American Dream" is no simple feat; it involves
navigating a complex landscape of historical, cultural, and socioeconomic nuances. The American
Dream is a multifaceted concept, encompassing diverse perspectives and evolving over time. As
a writer, one must delve into the origins of this ideal, explore its various interpretations, and
critically analyze its implications in different periods of American history.
One of the challenges lies in balancing optimism with realism. While the American Dream
traditionally embodies the belief in upward mobility and limitless opportunities, addressing the
harsh realities and disparities that exist is imperative. Striking the right tone requires a delicate
touch to avoid oversimplification or cynicism.
Moreover, the diversity of experiences within the American Dream adds another layer of
complexity. Immigrants, minorities, and different socio-economic groups have unique narratives
that contribute to the broader discussion. Acknowledging these perspectives while maintaining
coherence can be a tightrope walk, demanding thorough research and empathy.
The ever-changing nature of the American Dream introduces another layer of difficulty. Its
definition has evolved over time, responding to economic shifts, cultural changes, and global
events. A comprehensive essay should capture this dynamism, tracing the evolution of the
American Dream from the Founding Fathers to contemporary society.
Additionally, crafting a compelling thesis that not only encapsulates the essence of the American
Dream but also provides a fresh perspective or insight is a formidable task. Originality is key,
and avoiding clichГ©s while presenting a thought-provoking argument demands a deep
understanding of the topic.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the American Dream necessitates navigating a complex web
of historical, cultural, and societal factors. It requires a careful balance between optimism and
realism, an acknowledgment of diverse experiences, and an understanding of the concept's
evolution. Successfully tackling these challenges results in a nuanced and insightful exploration
of a fundamental aspect of the American identity.

America In Cambodia
Research Paper: America in Cambodia The international affairs and the involvement
of America during the Vietnam War was one of the greatest involvements in
American history. Not only was America involved with Vietnamese affairs, but the
U.S. was also involved in Cambodian affairs as well. The historical relevance of
Cambodiais often overlooked when discussing the war as a whole. The events in
Cambodia were events marked in history as side effects of the Vietnam War;
however, Cambodia is more that just a side effect of the war. The secret bombings,
the great Pol Pot genocide, the killing fields and the strict communist society that
developed should not be marked as a mere side effect of Vietnam War history. The

INTRODUCTION
The minerals are indispensable for the maintenance of industrial activity, since
products such as automobiles, machinery, tractors, cement, among others, are
manufactured from raw materials coming from this extraction and that these
activities are often energetically dependents on certain minerals, such as coal for
example.
However, the mining activity promotes direct impacts on nature, leading to
environmental degradation. It is an activity that extracts resources that are on the
ground or underground, from where various types of minerals (gold, silver, iron ore,
tin, bauxite, and many others) are removed.
Like all exploitation of natural resources, the mining activity causes impacts on the
environment both in the exploitation of natural areas and waste generation. It
intensely alters the mined area and the surrounding areas, where deposits of waste
and tailings are made. Furthermore, when we have the presence of harmful chemicals
in the ore processing stage, this could mean a serious problem from an environmental
point of view (de Freitas, 2014).
According to Souza Silva (2007), the main problems arising from the mining can be
grouped into five categories: water pollution, air pollution, noise pollution, land
subsidence, fires caused by coal and radioactive waste.

1. Why is Coca Cola so interested in Africa, which is typically regarded as part of the
base of the global economic pyramid?
Coca Cola is an organization that has been around since 1892. Coca Cola is looking
for new emerging growth markets and Africa has proven to be that. Combined, 12 of
the African countries have a GDP greater than that of Chine. Coca Cola has 29% of
the market share in Africa.

Sales in the United States are declining due to the public concern over sugar. Sales
in Europe and Japan are flat, while markets in China and India offer up strong
completion for Coca Cola. Africa s middle class population is growing at a steady
rate, so the disposable income is increasing. This creates an opportunity for Coca
Cola to tap into growth opportunities (Natalia Cheverri 2012).
How does it work?
Although there are areas in Africa lacking infrastructure, Coca Cola operates in every
country. Coca Cola utilized a franchising manufacturing model that works perfectly
for operating in Africa. Coca Cola partnered with local licensed bottling groups to
help create the product. Coca Cola manufactures the syrup concentrate and sells to
the bottlers. The bottlers add filtered water, carbonation, and sweetener to make the
final product. With this model, Coca Cola is sharing the wealth with local investors
/community members. This creates sustainable business and improves community
buy in with Coca Cola s existence in Africa (Maritz Jaco 2010). Because
partnerships are formed with local bottlers and local members of the community,
there is a vested interest by the locals to keep Coca Cola s business successful.
Through these partnerships, Coca Cola is able to help build the socio economic
system in different towns.

The Interview Session That I Had With Pastor
This paper will discuss my reflection to the interview session that I had with Pastor
Stephen Paulsen. Stephen Paulsen is the high school Pastor at Venture Christian
Church. He has been a high school Pastor for about 13 years. Stephen has started his
ministry at Venture Christian Church since August 2014. Before working at Venture,
He began his first ministry in serving the high schoolstudents in South Carolina. He
has four kids (three boys and one daughter) and a beautiful wife. This paper will
reflect on the answers that I got during the interview, according to his experience in
his ministry.
The Next Generation Ministry Stephen s tasks for his ministry at Venture is to lead
and pastoring the high school students that come to this church. He started to
respond to God s calling in his life by taking seminary in Moody Bible Institute,
Chicago. He noticed the calling of God in his life since he was young. Another task
in being the high school student Pastor at Venture is to be involved in the outreach
ministry on the weekdays. His vision for the ministry is to see these students grew in
their relationship with Jesus since they were little. Stephen believes in the power of a
healthy community. That is why, besides the regular service on Sunday at 11 am,
they also have a small group meeting for the students every Tuesday. The meeting will
focus more on building a deeper relationship with the students by spending the time
with them, to have a fellowship, and get to
The Journey Of Ibn Fattouma By Naguib Gibran s On
Crime...
Culture is a shared set of beliefs, values, goals, and attitudes within a social, racial,
or religious group. Someone s culture is easily shown, even if in only in the slightest
ways. The things people say, their specific beliefs, or the choices they make can give
a deep insight into someone s culture. I feel that culture, in one way or another, is
clearly presented in On Crimeand Punishment by Khalil Gibran as well as The
Journey of Ibn Fattouma , by Naguib Mahfouz. On Crime and Punishment by Khalil
Gibran discusses how crimes are committed, but there is almost always more to the
story. Even though this is Arabic literature, I feel that this applies to many cultures. In
most cultures, including mine, we are very quick to point the... Show more content on

On the way, he meets an old man who is supposed to help him get to the land of
Gebel, but first he must join the other followers to prepare for the journey. I feel
that culture is shown within this part of the text because all of the followers of the
old man sit with him each day to listen and sing. The groups shared behavior and
belief that by doing this, they will be prepared to go to the land of Gebel shows
culture within that community. Each day they do the same thing because it is
what they all know and believe and that is exactly what culture is. It also shows an
insight into how the culture teaches people to respect their elders. The people are
following and listening to the old man because he is old and considered wiser than
everyone else. This is a common belief among many cultures. In the end of the
text, I think it also shows how people can choose to break away from their culture.
It may be that it no longer benefits them or they are just tired of conforming to that
culture s standards. Specifically referring to the text, the group leaves to go to the
land of Gebel even though they are not fully prepared for the journey. Due to certain
circumstances, they are told to leave their land. However, they made that final choice
to leave, even though the old man said they were not yet ready. They made the
conscious decision to break away from what they know,
The Knowledge Argument By Jackson
The Knowledge Argument by Jackson is one of the main threats to Physicalism.
Physicalism says that everything that is or could ever exist is ultimately physical in
nature. The Knowledge Argument claims that there are truths about consciousness
that cannot be deduced from the complete physical truth. Lewis response on the other
hand, disagrees with the KnowledgeArgument. In this paper I will address the
Knowledge Argument and Lewis response to it.
The following is a thought experiment by Jackson to undermine Physicalism. Mary
is a brilliant scientist who is, for whatever reason, forced to investigate the world
from a black and white room via a black and white television monitor. She
specialises in the neurophysiology of vision and acquires, let us suppose, all the
physical information there is to obtain about what goes on when we see ripe
tomatoes, or the sky, and use terms like red , blue , and so on. She discovers, for
example, just which wavelength combinations from the sky stimulate the
retina...What will happen when Mary is released from her black and white room or
is given a colour television monitor? Will she learn anything or not? It seems just
obvious that she will learn something about the world and our visual experience of it.
But then it is inescapable that her previous knowledge was incomplete. But she had
all the physical information. Ergo there is more to have than that, and Physicalism is
false (Jackson 130). At this point of time, Mary supposedly

Valley Authority still remains the same as it did back in 1933. The statement of
purpose is To improve the navigability and to provide for the flood control of the
Tennessee River; to provide for reforestation and the proper use of marginal lands
in the Tennessee Valley; to provide for the agricultural and industrial development
of said valley...and for other purposes. (Our History, n.d.) The 2010s brought with
it some change and by 2014, the TVA achieved for the 15thyear, 99.999 percent
reliability and within the same year also saw a lower usage in gigawatt hours. (The

region and is mostly under control. An example was the rains in 1994, estimated
savings were approximately $1billion in damages that would have accrued through

Concurring, Partly Dissenting Opinion: Anton If she wants to kill three

We are told that there are about 6,000 people there (twice the number of Tormund s
group), so saving their lives and preventing them from turning into wights should
be a huge priority for the Night s Watch. Not to mention the intelligence that can be
gathered through this mission. Moreover, Jon has been very resourceful in
gathering the eleven ships he sent there under the command of Cottor Pyke.
However, he should have realized that sending this ragtag fleet wouldn t be
enough. Some ships wouldn t make it, and there wasn t enough room for 6,000
people to begin with. Instead of waiting for this attempt to succeed or fail, he
should have sent a small ranging party over there as well. He could have made it
one of the conditions in his negotiation with Tormund, that a group of wildlings be
sent to Hardhome (as well as to camps in the mountains beyond the Shadow Tower)
in order to convince the people there to come to the Wall. In the case of Hardhome,
this might have been successful. The people there might have lost faith in Mother
Mole after the visit of the Lyseni slavers, and be willing to come. The big land
ranging Jon proposes in his last chapter in ADWD is too late, and if it were to go
through, it s likely that the Others would corner them on Storrold s

ethical and moral code of conduct for the profession of medicine. Hippocrates

How Lean s Helps A Sustainable Print Company
How Lean Methodology Leads to a Sustainable Print Company
Continual improvement is a goal for all print companies looking for future success.
To become a sustainable company one needs to cut unnecessary costs and waste
generated by doing business. Removing cost and waste may seem like simple things
to do but finding the necessary changes and implementing these changes requires
time and effort. A method used to accomplish this goal is lean manufacturing.
Lean manufacturing is a continuous improvement practice that focuses on waste
reduction. Waste in its simplest form is anything that is excessive and consumes
resources. It can also be referred to as non value added activities that do not add
value to the end product (Rizzo, 2008, 58). Sustainability on the other hand
recognizes a print company s capability to satisfy the 3 dimensions: people, profit and
environment (Wirtenberg, 2013). These three dimensions are referred to as the triple
bottom line (TBL). Even when a business is making a profit, anything that does not
create value for customers, fulfill employees needs, and benefit the environment is
wasteful and must be restructured to eliminate non value added activities (Wandiga,
2013).This is the philosophy of lean manufacturing; a beneficial concept that can help
reduce the amount of wasted resources in a company and contribute to its
sustainability.
Knowing the theories behind lean and sustainability is not enough, print companies
need to know how to implement
The Ghost Map By Steven Johnson
The Ghost Map by Steven Johnson reflects on a widespread disease that began in
London in 1854. The story focuses on the cholera disease and the origin of where
the disease might have began. Dr. John Snow and Reverend Henry Whitehead play a
huge role in trying to prevent the disease from spreading and having a second cholera
epidemic. Dr. John Snowwas known as an intelligent physician who had a
background with anesthesia advancements. He believed that cholera was a
waterborne disease and that it was contaminated by the sewage. Snow s goal was
to convince others about the issue and stop it from spreading. His theory about the
intestinal disease, in which was published in 1849 in an article, was laughed at and
many doctors believed that his idea was wrong and they continued to believe that it
was airborne. He wanted to prove many wrong and begin to further research and
experiment the disease. The profession of a physician in 1854 and now has
dramatically changed and new advancements have come into play. The physicians in
1854 were quite close minded compared to they are now.Their systems weren t very
updated and the research was more manual. The professions in today s world that are
similar to John Snow s work are many. He conducted a lot of research and physically
went down to the water source himself to collect samples and further prove his point.
That relates to the position of an Environmentalist, more specifically state
environmentalist. Environmentalist usually

Due to rapid expansions in both transportation and communication technology,
terrorism has become an international threat and is now a serious global risk. Beck
(2002: 9) states that the risk of terrorism exponentially multiply with technological
advancement. With the technologies of the future genetic engineering,
nanotechnology and robotics, we are opening a new Pandoras box . This suggests
that as more sophisticated technology is introduced new terror risks proliferate at an
exceedingly fast pace. For Cronin (2002), international terrorism is not only a
reaction to globalisation; globalisation is also a facilitator of international terrorism;
suggesting that globalisation is a vital component in the structure and mechanisms of
international terrorism. With advances in technology and particularly transportation,
terrorist activity is no longer restricted to particular geographical jurisdictions.
For many academics, a new form of terrorism has emerged over the last thirty years,
not only has the locality of terrorism changed so too has the number of casualties.
Since the late 1960s, the number of casualties at the hands of terrorist attacks has
increased considerably; from 1968 through to 1979 the average amount of casualties

The Federal Reserve ( Fed )
The Federal Reserve (FED), is the central bank of the United States. It was created
by Congress to provide the nation with a safer, more flexible, and more stable
monetary and financial system (Federalreserve.org, 2016). The monetary policy of
the US is governed by the FED, which assist in regulating the supply and demand of
moneyin the market. Interest rates are a very important tool of monetary policythat
economists use to achieve the targets defined for the country s monetary policy.
Interest rates have a profound impact on the value of the country s currency, inflation,
export competiveness and imports into the country. Interest rates also impact the
inflow and outflow of funds into or out of the country. Due to their wide reaching
impact on the economy, if the Fed decides to raise the interest rates at the end of this
year it will definitely impact several aspects such as consumer financing, annuities
values, the NPV calculation, the WACC and corporate earnings.
Effect of rising rates on the following:
Consumer financing for big ticket items such as autos and homes
Rates on mortgages and other types of loans have been fairly low, creating more
access to capital for businesses and making big ticket purchases more affordable for
consumers. If the FED raises the interest rate it will have several effects on the
consumer. It will reduce their purchasing power and consumers shopping habits will
be influenced. The decrease in purchasing power leads to a decrease in

to this little girl and her grandmother, people desire life to have happy endings in

While this is the case for many people, Ernest Hemingwayrejected the ideas of hope,
happiness, and meaning, instead embracing loneliness, despair, and death. Lacking a
faith in God, Hemingway had nothing to provide hope or permanent joy, leading to
his view that life is ultimately worthless and that people should spend it however they

human loneliness. In his short story, A Clean, Well Lighted Place, the elderly

who art in nada, nada be thy name (5). In the story, the waiter finds comfort when he

he has a temporary something to console him. When he withdraws from the cafe, he
has to recognize and embrace the reality that there really is nothing. By upholding

Important to realize, that there are common grounds that allows an interfaith
understanding to take place between Eastern Orthodoxy and Roman Catholicism. To
emphasize, one doctrine that both the Eastern and Roman Christians agree is on the
seven Sacraments in order to obtain union with God; the seven Sacraments are
Baptism, Confirmation, Eucharistor Communion, Holy Orders, Marriage, penance,
and Holy Unction. Given that, Dr. James P. Eckman explained that Baptism,
however, is the primary sacrament for everything in the church flows out of the
waters of baptism: the remission of sin and life eternal. [4] For both the East and the
West churches baptism is necessary for the salvation of the adults and childs. Another
similarity of interfaith
Analysis Of Edward Scissorhands, By Tim Burton
In my essay I am going to reference two films, Edward Scissorhands (1990) and
Vincent (1982), directed by Tim Burton. Edward Scissorhands, is Tim Burton s take
on the Frankenstein story. We can clearly see the influences that have appealed to
Tim Burton in the classic Frankenstein (1931) was not the character s monstrousness
appeal but the sense of sad sorrow that audiences sympathized to in Boris Karloffs
performance. Whereas in Tim Burton s vision, we see a Special character as the
Frankenstein Monster, in the similar way that we call people with disabilities
Special. And then we have Vincent, a short stop motion animation. The short film
itself is an entertaining aspect of a suburban boy named Vincent who recites Edgar
Ellen Poe and categorizes with Horror filmstar, Vincent Price. With similarities to
Edward Scissorhands, the main character is a chance for Tim Burton to represent
himself on the screen as a tortured boy, outsider and artist. I am going to discuss how
cultural and psychological concerns are represented through characterization, art
direction, cinematography, and sound. I will support my discussion by analyzing a
reflection on both the similarities and differences between the two films, and whether
a distinctive Burton signature (aesthetics, cultural and psychological concerns) is
evident.
Cultural and psychological concerns is apparent through the use of characterization.
Isolation/Alienation in the suburban life plays a big role in both the films
My Responsibility To America
My responsibility to America is to be an informed voter when the time comes. In
this essay the talking points will be why it is important to vote, and how to be an
informed voter. According to Reference.com, Voting gives citizens a voice in the
government, allowing them to choose leaders and decide on issues. This is important
because when a person votes they are votingfor a candidate who they believe will
best represent the beliefs and values of the people, including themselves. Voting
allows the general population to elect a president, senators, judges, mayors, and
governors, therefore allowing everyone to voice their opinion. Also, if Americans
did not have the right to vote, we would be living in a society where one or a select
The Homeland Security And Homeland Defense Missions
Introduction The homeland security and homeland defense missions were
developed in the wake of the September 11, 2001 terror attacks. Designed to fill
gaps in intelligence sharing to defend against or response to terror attacks. This paper
will discuss the future success of the current homeland security and homeland defense
missions. It will also look into the role civil libertiesplays in that success.
Discussion
The missions held by homeland security and homeland defense are vital to the
protection of the country against acts of terror. While relatively young programs,
much has been achieved in the homeland security and homeland defense missions.
To continue this success, the programs must evolve as the world evolves, and more
specifically, the terrorists. To stay relevant, the Department of Homeland Security,
its subordinate agencies, and the Department of Defense must evolve with the
threats in a way that does not impede on civil liberties. The topic of civil liberties
and intelligence collection creates significant political debate and often threatens to
derail intelligence collection process. In a reply to the Governor of Pennsylvania,
Benjamin Franklin said [t]hey who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little
temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety . (1755, p. 255) While there is
debate on what Benjamin Franklin meant in this quote, there is no doubt that it is use
by many to argue against the collection of data from United States citizens.
Cause And Effect Of Deforestation

Cause and Effect of Deforestation Deforestation is a problem that does not concern
many people, but it is an issue that the people of Earth need to deal with. In the past
50 years deforestation has increased a significant amount, but people around the
world have been removing the forests since the 1600s. The forests remaining are in
danger as the human population goes up, the need for resources will also increase
and this will make the deforestation of the last forests come quicker before humans
realize it is too late. Unless the people address this threat to the world, it will be too
late because this is something that can be fixed, the forests can be rebuilt but it has
to start right now before there is nothing people can do. There are many causes for
deforestation such as, clearing space for urbanization, making areas available for
houses, or harvesting the lumber for goods and other consumer items and all of
these have an effect on the world. The consequences of deforestation can affect all
aspects of life on Earth, including the water cycle, the soil, and the life quality of
species around the world. Deforestation around the world has not only affected the
forests in which species live in but now is being recognized as one of the main
causes of climate change. Since the destruction of the rainforests has sped up in
recent years, a cooling band around the equator forms and those emissions can
outweigh any
Man Utd Research Paper
There are loads of amazing footballers all over the world. Messi, Rooney, Kaka and
many more, check out www.ilemi.com to watch their games. For me though one man
stands out. The thing is the man in question does not make me like him, neither do I
feel comfortable in acknowledging his greatness. The facts of the matter are, that he
has everything. A constant threat going forward and dangerous in a number of
positions. For me that man is Cristano Ronaldo which I say through gritted teeth. The
one man that can make a team it seems. Both at Man Utd and Real Madrid were he
is playing now, has he brought something extra to the team. In teams full of stars he
is still the man that stands out. He has a tremendous amount of skill with such

It could be from shirt sales alone without even looking at the other revenue he
generates for the club. You can be sure that Man Utd would not have sold Ronaldo
had he himself wanted to stay. For me though this was good business from both
teams. A good return for Man Utd (by the way were has that money gone?) but at
the same time a good investment and exceptional talent to add to an already
ridiculous side. So although I may think he is arrogant and not the most likable
person I would put this aside. At the end of the day I m a winner too and with this
man in your team you would be half way there if not the whole way to success.
When the Olympics are in London it would be lovely to think there could be a British
football team. The grim reality is this is unlikely to happen. In this article I will
discuss the arguments and suggest what could be done to overcome the obstacles.
The three main arguments against the team is the disruption to the Premiership,
voting rights for the four countries that make up Great Britain and the complexities in
selecting a team. Firstly the Olympics takes place in early August the same time the
Premiership starts. The conflict is clear, but representing your country is a great
honour.
The Production Possibilities Frontier
1. A reduction in trade barriers has two effects on the economy. The production
possibilities frontier will move outward, and the economy will move closer to the
production possibilities frontier. Both outcomes are related. Freer trade creates more
markets for the country for its goods and services. This allows companies to produce
more, but it does not directly change the production capacity of the nation. Thus, the
economy moves closer to the production possibilities frontier (Rittenberg Tregarthen,
2009). The reason that the production possibilities frontier also moves owes to the
theory of comparative advantage. Freer trade allows the country to focus production
on those goods and services in which it has comparative advantage. Thus, the
economy s production becomes more efficient. Given that the factor resources
(people, capital) have not changed, an increase in efficiency will push the production
possibilities frontier outward. This is because the total capacity is going to be
higher. Note that there is a difference between producing the same things more
efficiently, and producing goods that are more efficient. The total capacity of the
economy is changed when the mix of product and services is changed, marking a
shift in the curve to go along with moving production closer to the curve. In addition,
trade encourages technological transfer. Firms in each country learn from one
another, and the transfer of knowledge and technology is one way that this occurs.
The Abolitionist Movement. The Abolitionist Movement
Started
The Abolitionist Movement The Abolitionist movement started around the 1830s and
lasted until 1865. This movement was a huge step toward our country s future,
attempting to end slavery and racial discrimination. People like William Lloyd
Garrison, Frederick Douglass and Harriet Beecher Stowe persuaded others in their
cause and elected those with the same views as them in political positions. William
Lloyd Garrisonstarted an abolitionist newspaper called the Liberator, Frederick
Douglas also wrote a newspaper, called the North Star, and Harriet Beecher Stowe
published a novel called Uncle Tom s Cabin. These advocates, while they did not
cause the Civil War, they contributed to this war by bringing attention to one of the

These different views allowed people to view slavery from a new perspective. Many
people who were proslavery soon felt sorry for their actions and saw their actions as a
sin.
William Lloyd Garrison, a white man from Massachusetts became a part of the anti
slavery movement, or abolitionist movement, in 1830. Right away, William Lloyd
Garrison published a weekly paper called the Liberator, which directly stated the
need for immediate and complete emancipation of all slaves. William Lloyd
Garrison saw that the only way that slavery could end was by persuading those
who would read his pieces. Garrison realized the only way to prove how bad
slavery is, was to show how immoral and unjust it was for there to be slavery in our
country. He felt so strongly about his views, e once burned a copy of the
Constitution because this documented stated the right to own slaves. Garrisons
paper had received very harsh responses and many states wanted to charge against
Garrison for a felonious crime and would reward others who found those who
distributed his paper. (28a. William Lloyd Garrison and The Liberator) The reason
why Garrison had received such severe reactions from people was because of his
non government theories and his idea that the government was a form of
compromise, explaining how slavery would not end with compromise. He also wrote
in the Liberator and denounced the Compromise of 1850, condemned the
The Influence Of The Local Youth Culture In Santa Fe...
In this paper, I will examine the article, Speak My Language. Specifically, I am going
to explain some of cultural components and influences such as cultural norms,
expectation, and expressions of the local youth culture in Santa Fe community. Also,
beside the graffiti wall, I will figure out some of good strategies for keeping
connection and relationships with youth in this community. According to the article,
local artists encourage to paint the legal wall in Santa Fe. It does not mean just a
painting but also mean the opportunity to speak their voice to the community. The
influences of the local youth culturein Santa Fe are enormous in the society. First of
all, the tendency of young people that they turn to alcohol, drugs, or anti social
behaviors have been shifted to a positive way. Also, the legal graffiti wall gave...

In doing so, people in this community started to make their own cultural norms. It
happens because they have been built their own set of values. The graffiti
community is a place where people feel free to speak their voice. Also, it is the place
where many do not feel discourage of expressing their views into painting. It became
a natural place where people can be involved and embraced even with others who
have different culture background. With that being said, there are some of
expectations of this youth culture in Santa Fe. According to the article, one of the
member of the committee said that she sees the possibility for a combination of a
permanent mural and a curated rotation of artists work, an evolving piece of artwork
that continues to reflect and communicate with the community. In other words, one
of the biggest expectation from doing it is that combination of cultural innovation
would happen while respecting and honoring their community. When considering the
expectation of the society, there are two things that they aimed to make the
The United States And The Great Depression
To Americans, Australia may seem like a completely distant and disconnected land
just because of how far it is and because it is technically and island. However, the
fact of the matter is that Australia, just like most of the places colonized by Great
Britain, is still considered a western country. That along with the interconnectedness
of a globalized economy makes it so that Australia is still affected, both positively
and negatively, by the changes of the United States and Britain. Such was the case
when the United States suffered what is now known as the great depressionin 1929.
The great depression spread throughout most western countries and beyond and
Australia was no exception. Australia was hit with the depression not long after the
United States and it reached its peak in 1932. The depression hit Australia quite
hard and the economic recovery was fairly slow and lasted until just about the
beginning of the Second World War. This was partly due to having a number of
badly implemented policies by a disputing government. While some say that it was
the Premiers Plan that led the country out of the depression others argue that there
was no one single policy or plan responsible but rather a combination of many. One
act that had a hand in leading Australia out of the great depression was the
devaluation of the currency.
Explanation of chosen theory:
To first understand the situation that Australia was in during the great depression and

Media Influences On American Culture
Media Influenced in American Culture Back in the 1920s people had receive news
and entertainment through the radio, which then in turn out shined newspapers
and magazines. Now day s social media sites have become the most popular form
to get the news and information. The biggest tool in the media that generates
revenue by the millions every day, is advertising. The media has its way of
showing us constructive information when it comes to news channels, travel and
other educational shows. Kids benefit from watching these, since it can boost self
esteem, heighten interest levels in a particular subject, or encourage them to ask
relevant questions. We have a sense of what is happening around us, with a fair
insight about how things work elsewhere on the globe. We can view the world
through the television, even if we are rooted in one spot the whole time. It is a
getaway to places unknown, foreign, and magical with knowledge of what goes on
around us without being physically present in that place. The media in all its forms
can introduce us to creative outlets that can help us better ourselves in different
ways, be it in our personal or work lives. It can change our perspectives and push us
to do more than what we limit ourselves to. It can also help us engage with other
people around the world, and be more open and understanding towards other cultures.
The ability to create relationships based solely on mutual understandings and shared
common interests have fed the social
Immigration Of Hispanics And Hispanics
National Identity and Loyalty
I selected to highlight immigration of Hispanics and Latinos, since it is a relatively
young (compared to the national average), diverse population with many subgroups,
with complicated socioeconomic factors, and shares a troubled history with the
United States (U.S. Census Bureau, 2006). The largest group of immigrants that
came from Mexico has settled in Arizona, California, Texas and New Mexico. These
areas of the United States also happen to share a significant historical grievance with
the United States. The cities of Los Angeles, San Diego and San Antonio all share
Hispanic roots as evidenced in the origin of their names. Those areas were once
considered a territory of Mexico, but annexed from Mexico during the Mexican
American war and The Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo in 1848.
In 2000, nearly 13 percent of Americans claimed Hispanic ancestry (US Census
Bureau, 2000). Accounting for more than 20 million people, the Mexican origin
population surpasses the sum of all nonblack minority groups combined . The
Mexican origin population also surpasses every white ethnic group except for
German Americans (US Census Bureau 2008). It is projected that non Hispanic
whites will no longer be the majority of the population in 2042 according to the US
Census Bureau.
In 2008, UCLA sociology professors Edward Telles and Vilma Ortiz found that more
than 25% of fourth generation Mexican Americans did not graduate from high school
and that between the

3.Personal: ask your self:
How did I feel in this situation?
What internal factors were influencing me?
During the whole situation from the moment we pulled up out side the house I
was very nervous and wanting to give a good impression only made this worse.
Once we had entered the house and met Tom I calmed down a little. I was surprised
at my own reaction of distaste when I entered the house and encounter a grumpy
drunk so early in the morning; I had no prior knowledge of his situation (Claire later
informed me that his wife had recently divorced him and he was having difficulties
coping).
When Claire asked me to do the drops I declined, at the time I was annoyed with
myself for missing the opportunity to practice my clinical skills.
4.Ethics: ask yourself:
Did my actions match with my beliefs?
What factors made me act in incongruent ways?
In refection my actions did not match the beliefs I held about myself before coming
on community. From my time on my ward placements I thought I had built up a
good professional attitude and could work my way around difficult situations. What
I was not prepared for was how much; the lack of familiar surroundings would affect
my actions and how nervous I felt about giving a good impression to Claire and the
patients.
The main factors that made me act in such a way were, nervousness, lack of

Holland Tunnel History
The Holland Tunnel was built in 1920 1924 by pushing cylindrical shields through
the river bottom. The shields not only dug through mud but also served as the shell
beneath which the actual tunnel walls were constructed. The tunnel walls were built
of iron rings filled in with concrete making sure it was not hollow. Two shields were
used; one began on the New York shore and the other on the New Jersey shore. They
finally were able to meet in October 1924. The 1.6 mile span of the Holland Tunnel
was the first tunnel under the Hudson River that allowed for the passing of vehicles.
When it was finally opened, it was the longest underwater and mechanically ventilated
tunnel in the world. The tunnel was an amazing achievement that pioneered the
solution to many engineering problems. (Holland Tunnel Construction) By the early
1920 s, many ferries crossed the Hudson River, which was the only mode of
transportation between New... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Entering compressed air into the tunnel was one of the harder areas on the creation of
the tunnel along side the ventilation systems. Because they had to balance the
compressed air with the pressure of the water that was trying to enter into the tunnel,
this made working conditions extremely hard. In October 26, 1922 compressed air
was introduced into the shield chamber on the New York side and the actual
tunneling began. Each shield weighed around 400 tons with all of the equipment in
place weighing everything down. Tunnel construction workers in this project were
called sandhogs and are credited for saying Think twice, you only live once.
(Scientific American) This quote pretty much summed up the danger of working in
the tunnel. Teams of sandhogs followed the two massive 400 ton shields removing
mud, blasting through rock, and were bolting together the iron
The Illuminati and the New World Order Conspiracy Essay
The Illuminati is a secret society that was established in the late 18th century. Not
long after it was created, it was supposedly abolished completely. However, many
people believe that the Illuminati still exists today. While the Illuminati is an
exceedingly broad topic with many conspiracies involved, the supposed actions of the
modern day Illuminati and the New World Order conspiracy theory are the main
topics.
Whether someone believes the Illuminati exists today or not does not change the fact
that the Illuminati did, in fact, exist in the late 18th century. The Illuminati, a secret
society, was founded in 1776 by Adam Weishaupt ( The Illuminati par. 1). Adam

Quite a few people believe that, contrary to what historians say, the Illuminati still
exists today in a stronger form. According to the Illuminati, the Napoleonic Wars
were caused by the Illuminati even though, by this time in history, they were
supposedly non existent ( History of the Illuminati par. 3). Other areas that people say
the Illuminati affects or controls today might include: music, world banking,
economy, the United Nations, and even the United States itself. The Illuminati tactic
is to divide and conquer by supplying arms and money to both sides and instigating
people to fight and kill each other in order to be able to achieve their objectives ( The
Illuminati Cult par. 3). According to this source, the Illuminati gives reason to attack
another country or group by causing some sort of catastrophic event and then giving
each side what they need to just fight against themselves. ...the Illuminati worked out
a blueprint for three world wars throughout the 20th century that would lead to a one

Drug Cartel Control in Columbia
The situation between government agencies and the drug cartels in Mexico is
similar to the one in Colombia 20 years ago. As I have previously said, throughout
the 1990s the Cali and Medellin drug cartels dominated the world cocaine trade. Both
cartels were made up of several different drug trafficking organizations, each
containing its own specific organizational structure. These cartels hid their cocaine
production labs in remote, jungle regions, where Colombian insurgent groups
provided them cover. In exchange for this cover, rebel groups such as the
Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombiaderived much of their funding from the
cartels. The cartels were also strong advocates toward bribing. Whether it is police,
judges, or politicians, those who did not agree to the varying bribes were often
threatened and held captive. Looking back, the situation regarding the drug cartels in
Colombia seemed daunting and undefeatable. Colombia was on the verge of political
and economic failure due to the two quasi military drug cartels increasing the rates of
political violence, criminality, and the national homicide rate. During a recent Rand
report on Colombia draws a relationship between the Colombian drug trade and
violence: Current instability in Colombia derives from the interaction and resulting
synergies stemming from two distinct tendencies: the development of an underground
criminal drug economy and the growth of armed challenges to the state s authority...

objective of video games is to entertain people by surprising them with new
experiences. Since, the early 1990 s, there has only been two heavy weight

tremendously evolved into impressive gaming consoles. A gaming console is a
device which outputs a video image onto a screen. The term gaming console is
used to distinguish them from arcade machines and computers. Currently, the

being released on November 22, 2013. When it first launched in the United States,
the original price was 100 dollars more than that of the PS4 s original price of 400
dollars. In todays society, people or perhaps only me, tend to buy the cheaper

Microsoft must have thought their gaming console was far superior than Sony s

1868, just after the end of the Civil War and the official end of slavery. A gifted
scholar, formal education played a much greater role in DuBois s life than it did in
Washington s. After becoming a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Fisk and Harvard, he
was the first Black to earn a Ph.D. from Harvard in 1895. DuBois wrote over 20
books and more than 100 scholarly articles on the historical and sociological nature
of the Black experience. He argued that an educated Black elite should lead Blacks
to liberation by advancing a philosophical and intellectual offensive against racial
discrimination. DuBois forwarded the argument that The Negro problem was not and
could not be kept distinct from other reform movements. . . DuBois favored
immediate social and political integration and the higher education of a Talented
Tenth of the black population. His main interest was in the education of the group
leader, the man who sets the ideas of the community where he lives. . . To this end,
he organized the Niagara movement, a meeting of 29 Black
Preferential Treatments in Juvenile Justice System.
Chapter 15 in the textbook focuses mainly on juvenile justice. There are many
subtopics under this chapter however, there was one topic in particular that
attracted my interests. This topic was also touched on several times in the
discussions board and it is the Preferential Treatments in Juvenile. These
controversial treatments were specifically created and developed with a child s
best interests as a primary objective. The concept of this was introduce from the
philosophy parens patriae which allowed the states to step in and take control of the
problematic child. This philosophy was later developed and addressed by the
Supreme Court around 1960 s and become today s juvenile justice system. In this
paper, I will discuss about the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While the preferential treatments were designed to help and better children however,
there are issues that we need to be aware of. In Kent versus U.S (1966) , a 14 year
old Morris Kent was arrested and placed on probation from burglaries and
attempted purse snatching charges, he then was released on probation back to his
mother s custody. Two years later, Morris Kent entered a woman s apartment, took
her wallet and raped her. Morris Kent was sent to adult court system, he then was
sentenced 5 15 years in prison in each count. Morris Kent however, was only 16 year
old at the time. From this case, I couldn t help but noticed that Morris Kent was one
of the people who slipped through the cracks of the system. I feel that the authority
should have noticed and discovered Kent s psychological problems in the first place
and thus, preventing the incidents from happening in the first place. In my opinion,
the preferential treatments could have been one the reasons why Morris Kent was
released without a through evaluations and investigations. I strongly feel that Kent
should and could have been treated early.
Another issue with the preferential treatments is that it may encourage repeat
offenders due to a soft juvenile disposition. In the textbook Criminal Justice Today ,
Schmalleger (2010) states Most judges decide not to confine juveniles. Statistics
indicate that in nearly two thirds (62%) of all adjudicated delinquency cases,
juveniles are placed on
A City In Winter And A Complicated Kindness Analysis
The Necessity of Sacrifice in the Lives of the Innocent
The innocence of youth is often romanticized as being has days filled with laughter
and energy; it is oblivious of the stress and responsibilities of this world. In such a
picturesque world, however, it becomes easy to forget the many limitations of
youth:. nNo right to vote, to make decisions, to own property or to even stay up
past a specified bedtime. The idyllic life of a child is easily disagreeable to those
youth who want know what they want; to those youth with great aspirations. Many
children both real and in fictional literature experience great struggles while trying to
achieve goals by their own accord. Western North American authors Mark Helprin
and Miriam Toewseffectively portrayed this plight of a willful child in their novels
A City in Winter and A Complicated Kindnessrespectively. Mark Helprin s A City in
Winter is the tale of an extraordinary young girl reclaiming her kingdom. Yet even
with her wit, charm and innocence, her progression is ultimately unsuccessful until
her surrogate father swoops in quite literally to save the day knowing it is at the
expense of his life. Likewise, Miriam Toews A Complicated Kindness is about a
young girl who knows exactly what she wants, but lacks the moral strength and
maturity to obtain it. Her father, who is both morally strong and mature, must
eventually sacrifice his comfortable way of life for his daughter. In both novels the
girls lack power due to
Santa Cruz Biomes
Earth is always constantly changing and developing, especially the organisms that
habitat on Earth. As a result, Earth is very biodiverse and has many different types of
ecosystem. For instance, Earth has eight ecosystems (Tropical forest, Savanna,
Desert, Chaparral, Temperate Grassland, Temperate Deciduous forest, Coniferous
forest, and Tundra) and seven biomes (Wetland, Lakes, River and Streams, Intertidal
zones, Oceanic pelagic biome, Coral reefs, Benthos). In these many different areas on
Earth, there are many organisms, life, and valued nature. For example, Santa Cruz s
ocean are immensely important and valuable to the Cruz community because of its
beautiful cinematic views and sea animals. Therefore, there are environmental justice
The Successful Treatment Of Malaria
The successful treatment of malaria infections solely dependent upon the use of the
most effective anti malaria drugs to eradicated the parasite from the individual s
blood. The treatments differ for complicated and uncomplicated infections. The
greatest obstacle healthcare workers face is the increased resistance of the
Plasmodium parasite to drug therapy. The Plasmodium falciform species has become
increasingly resistant in the regions affect by the strain (1).
In an effort to avoid drug resistance, the current recommendation of the World Health
Organization is the use of two more anti malaria drugs for the treatment of
uncomplicated P. falciform malaria infections. In order to achieve the desired effect
the drug combinations must have different modes of action. The formal name for this
form of therapy is artemisinin based combination therapy (ACT) (1). Artemisinin
defines the group of drugs that have the most rapid action in the treatment of P.
falciform malaria. The drug has been shown to eradicate both the resistant and
susceptible stains P. falciform (2). The idea is use an artemisinin along with a drug
from a different class to maximize the treatment outcomes (2).
In complicated malaria cases, the WHO recommends intramuscular injection of a
water soluble drug name artesunate. It is a synthetic derivative of the artemisinin that
is more biologically active. The drug is capable of stopping parasite development and
preventing the adherence of erythrocytes to other

Jordan Brand continues to defy technological advances with their new innovative
sneaker the Jordan B. Fly. I was blessed enough to test out this one of a kind
sneaker at Terminal 23 with special guest Michael Kidd Gilchrist. If you re a
defensive minded player like Gilchrist, then this sneaker is for you. This sneaker is
specially designed for lateral quickness and a quick first step. One of the things I
admire the most about these sneakers is the injected pylon in the middle. That gives
the sneaker a lightweight cushioning.

When you re making quick first steps or spur of the moment defensive moves its
important to have good lockdown and support. I like the way it wraps around my
foot. I like the rubber, it seems like it ll last a lifetime. This sneaker is best for indoor
courts.
Cushioning
The cushioning is absolutely incredible. This is one of the most lightweight and
comfortable sneakers I ever worn.
FIT
This sneaker is true to size, I like that it has no dead space within the shoe. As I stated
earlier the asymmetrical lacing system gives this shoe a nice snug fit and the good
lockdown support.
Conclusion
Pros Good traction, and lightweight, and excellent lateral containment.
Cons The shoe has a basic color way and design which might not make it a cool
sneaker or a must have, however if you re interested in on the court performance then
this sneaker is for you.
Sizing True to size
Best for The basketball player who depends on defense who places emphases on the
lightweight ability of the sneaker rather than the look of it.

Meeting the customer requirements (Oakland 2003) is a reasonable definition of
quality.
Meeting the Customer s requirements is a tough challenge as the requirements of
customer are like the water of a tide; it s likely to change at any point of time. So
identifying the expectations of the customer and performing service in accordance to
it is a task that requires great skill. But at the end of the day if customer s expectation
is met and the customer is satisfied with the product, we could say that quality has
been achieved.
For example; A Customer wanting a house to be built for him had come to my uncle s
construction company. Based on his expectations and the trend that was in style

Explaining my plans to the guide helped me get constructive ideas from him. It also
helped me understand the priorities of my project better and define it clearly.
The second type of communication in this scenario is operational communication.
This involves communicating about the progress of the project; passing information
about its development and if there are any changes in priorities. During this stage,
my customer (guide) was regularly informed about my progress. He would then
suggest particulars that increased the overall quality of my work and made it a better
product.
Through such communication, my project was successfully completed on time in the
way my guide preferred. Excellent communication had become my key to increased
quality, which in turn taught me how vital it was for the success of any given project.

Quality work and commitment from every single employee plays an important role in

My Adversities Give my Life Purpose
My adversities are the catalysts to the enhancement of my virtues in life. I believe
that my life is constricted with great purpose. A purpose that has caused the
hardships I have endured to be the core of my considerably various achievements,
opened a door for me to support others and gave me the hope of an influential and
resourceful future.
When I was four years old, I was diagnosed with high myopia, an eye condition that
causes severe nearsightedness. Three years after my diagnosis, My hospital
referenced me to to be treated abroad as my condition was proven to be fetal. But,
my parents couldn t afford the cost, so they tried to get me a sponsor by entering me
into a non for profit German Church School. I had finished first grade but I had to
stay back because the school only accepted students beginning from first grade.
With me as an inspiration, my sister, KeAbnesh Girma Zewdie, established New

which focuses on bringing medical attention to disadvantaged children with sever
visual impairment. As a result, I became the spokesperson of the foundation. After
nine years, of having been entered into the German school, she found me a sponsor

school year, I was entered into the Honor Roll of the High School. I also applied for

Superstition In Macbeth Research Paper
Good Morning Gentlemen, today I would like to share my opinion about Macbeth.
Shakespeare s tragedy, Macbeth is a play that has been studied for centuries due for
the main part because of the timeless nature and the fact it can be applied to any
context. In Macbeth, Shakespeare explores and provides arguments surrounding the
themes of superstition, appearance versus reality and ambition.
Firstly, through Macbeth s exploration of the theme of superstition, Shakespeare
successfully argues that superstition effects human behaviour. In Macbeth
superstition is represented as the irrational fear of what is unknown and mysterious.
This is of particular importance in Shakespeare s context where almost everyone
believed in superstitions. One such superstition ... Show more content on

In particular, he argues that unchecked ambition is the root of all evil and human
demise. This is of particular significance due to Macbeth, in essence, being written for
King James, and Shakespeare s caution in not encouraging the overthrow of a King.
Shakespeare s compelling argument that unchecked ambition results in losing one s
humanity to evil is displayed in Macbeth s soliloquy in Act 1 Scene 7. Here Macbeth
tries to rationalise killing Duncan. Shakespeare uses the technique of listing counter
arguments, to emphasise the supreme number of arguments against killing Duncan
and contrasts this with the one argument; ambition. Here Shakespeare uses extended
imagery to argue that unchecked ambition causes evil and a loss of humanity, I have
no spur to prick the sides of my intent, but only Vaulting ambition which o erleaps
itself and falls on th other. Here Shakespeare compares Macbeth to a horse rider, and
says that he has not reason to get on the horse, to dig in the horse with his spurs, than
vaulting ambition. This notion is further discussed in that this vaulting action may
result in him going too far over and crashing on the other side of the horse. This in
essence also foreshadows the negative consequences of murdering Duncan that are
explored later in the play. Through this extended imagery, Shakespeare argues that
ambition is the only justifiable reason for killing Duncan but then counters this
A Brief Note On Patients With Diabetic Lower Leg Ulcers...
Wounds related to Diabetic Neuropathy Patients with diabetic neuropathy generally
ended up with wounds, since they have reduced ability to feel pain and temperature.
The problem that the guideline addresses is patients with lower extremity
neuropathic disease (LEND) with or at risk for wounds (National Guideline
Clearinghouse, 2012, para. 1). The purpose of the guideline is to support clinical
practice by providing consistent, research based information with the goal of
improved cost effective patient outcomes as well as to stimulate increased wound
research (National Guideline Clearinghouse, 2012, para. 9). This paper will present a

practice; also,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the final analysis, the APC treatment was concluded that it is a safe medication for
leg ulcers, and provides evidences for larger clinical trial. Overall, the results show
that APC treatment of lower leg ulcers in patients with diabetes improves wound
healing, with a subsequent improvement in patient quality of life and no deleterious
effect on patient safety (Kaley et al., 2013, p.5).
Qualitative Article Living with leg ulceration: a synthesis of qualitative research is a
study that analyzes twelve research studies about patients experience of living with a
leg ulcer. The authors used a method called Qualitative Assessment and Review
Instrument (QARI). This tool is designed to assist researchers to manage, appraise,
analyze and synthesize textual data and provides a structure for the synthesis (Briggs
Flemming, 2007, p.320). Additionally, they used different database to gather the
records and ended up with twelve studies that met the criteria. In summary, the topic
that was most mentioned, with the most volume of data, was physical effects like
pain, odor, itch, leakage and infection. Also, the least mentioned was psychological
impact (Briggs Flemming, 2007). Even though psychological impact was the least
theme mentioned, that does not mean that it is not as important. Reasons could be
that physical effects overwhelmed the psychological ones.
The authors described the problem as the leg ulcer journey. It explains as two routes,
Argumentative Essay On Dogfighting
While many dog owners walk, play, and love their pet dogs, some dog owners use
the sweet and loyal creatures to fight and make money. Povey and F.E.D.S. agree
with Dog Breeds Expert when it was stated, where you find dog fights, you ll often
find a whole many more criminal activities taking place too. ( DogFighting Breeds )
Povey continues this thought with saying dogfighting is often associated with drug
dealing, gambling, and other criminal activities related to gangs. (Povey) It is
agreeable that any activity associated with such a high number of other illegal
activities should be outlawed. While it is outlawed in the United States, it remains a
popular sport illegally in the United States and in numerous other countries. Because
dogfighting is such a popular sport, the trainers are typically very picky about the

However, F.E.D.S. discusses that different breeds are combined to create the ideal

by claiming Pit Bulls are the most common dogs used because they possess such a
strong drive to fight that they will often fight to the death instead of backing down
when injured or overpowered. (Povey) Pit bulls are known for their aggressive
nature, but in F.E.D.S., Roland Fox claims the animals will act how they are trained to
Frederick Jackson Turner Frontier Thesis Summary
The American Frontier consisted of a vibrant and expansive land made for the
opportunity ofAmerican settlement until the late 19th century. Unfortunately, the age
of exploration of the Frontier officially ended in 1890 with the U.S Census Bureau
declaring that here can hardly be said to be a frontier line. A historian, Frederick
Jackson Turner, claimed that the Frontier shaped American culture and the attitude of
Americans. By evaluating U.S Census Bureau statistics, he famously wrote the
Frontier Thesis. Along with the Frontier Thesis, Turner contributed to the field of
New History, primarily analyzing the West and Sectionalism of the United States.

Summary Of The Devil And Miss Prym
Comparison between Hero and The Devil In Miss Prym The book The Devil And
Miss Prym by Paulo Coelho and the movie Hero starring Jet Li even though in
different languages, share a plethora of similarities. The Devil And Miss Prym tells
the story of a young woman from the village of Visco, Chantal Prym. Her life was
very simple and seemed so innocent, until the Devil walked into Visco and offered
her something she so strongly felt she deserved a way out of Visco. Of course there
was a small price to pay, somebody had to die. After this day Chantal lived with a
devil on one shoulder and an angel on the other, constantly fighting to win her over.
In the end Gods light shined brighter and Chantal was able to make the right
decisions, saving herself and her village. The movie Hero by Jet Liwas about an
orphaned, nameless, assassin who blamed the King for the death of his family,
and wanted revenge. He was able to get within 10 paces of the restless King
making him believe he killed the 3 assassins that had been after him. The king soon
realized that Nameless s story did not add up and he had to be an assassin. Even so,
he chose a different fate, because of what broken sword had taught to him. This was
his highest ideal, and with that knowledge the desire to killno longer existed, only
peace, not revenge. When not blinded by hate he was able to see the King s mission
to unite all of China, and Spared, his life only after passing on these wise words.
Each main character dealt a with a Person Versus Self battle, both stories had common
archetypes with some playing the innocent and others the Sage, and both stories share
a philosophy that is utilitarianism.
In both of these stories the biggest battle of all was fought within the mind of the
main character. Chantal faced this throughout much of the story as she questioned
whether should she steal the gold? Should she tell the villagers of the message the
devil shared with her? Should she help Berta? It was a tough battle between her
morals, her ego and what she felt she deserved after living her whole life in Visco,
even though she was different than everyone else there. In the end she ended up
realizing she wasn t so different from them after all. She was able
Montaigne – of Cannibals
Acceptance and understanding into a persons society is one of the major goals that
people strive to achieve. There is a natural tendency for the individual to be
compelled to join the majority. Many times, however, a person will change
themselves to fit into the group instead of having the group change itself for the
person. This forces a person to take action, form opinions or adopt customs that do
not reflect their own beliefs. Montaigne addresses the differences between two
distinctly different forms of society in his essay Of Cannibals. Montaigne s
comparison between the recently discovered aborigines of the new world and his
European society compels a person to reconsider what an ideal society should be.
Should a natural state be the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The absence of vices also means an absence of a more comfortable living standard.
A more comfortable living standard creates more vices. I believe the inhabitants of
the new world could live out their lifestyle because they were ignorant to their own
possibilities. However, these possibilities were discovered and utilized by the
Europeans. With more knowledge and understanding the basic society that Europe
once belonged to grew into the society that discovered the new world.
The possibility of discovering what an ideal society would be portrayed as is an
impossible feat. This is impossible because the ideal society is all subjective. I
agree with Montaigne that the basic society, that is ignorant of their potential
creativity and imagination, can create an ideal society. I do not agree however, that
a complex society is only the things he says it is, brutal and greedy. I believe that he
has overlooked all the good qualities that a basic society can

The American Dream Essay. How to Easily Create a Perfect American Dream Essay

  • 1. The American Dream Essay Crafting an essay on the subject of "The American Dream" is no simple feat; it involves navigating a complex landscape of historical, cultural, and socioeconomic nuances. The American Dream is a multifaceted concept, encompassing diverse perspectives and evolving over time. As a writer, one must delve into the origins of this ideal, explore its various interpretations, and critically analyze its implications in different periods of American history. One of the challenges lies in balancing optimism with realism. While the American Dream traditionally embodies the belief in upward mobility and limitless opportunities, addressing the harsh realities and disparities that exist is imperative. Striking the right tone requires a delicate touch to avoid oversimplification or cynicism. Moreover, the diversity of experiences within the American Dream adds another layer of complexity. Immigrants, minorities, and different socio-economic groups have unique narratives that contribute to the broader discussion. Acknowledging these perspectives while maintaining coherence can be a tightrope walk, demanding thorough research and empathy. The ever-changing nature of the American Dream introduces another layer of difficulty. Its definition has evolved over time, responding to economic shifts, cultural changes, and global events. A comprehensive essay should capture this dynamism, tracing the evolution of the American Dream from the Founding Fathers to contemporary society. Additionally, crafting a compelling thesis that not only encapsulates the essence of the American Dream but also provides a fresh perspective or insight is a formidable task. Originality is key, and avoiding clichГ©s while presenting a thought-provoking argument demands a deep understanding of the topic. In conclusion, writing an essay on the American Dream necessitates navigating a complex web of historical, cultural, and societal factors. It requires a careful balance between optimism and realism, an acknowledgment of diverse experiences, and an understanding of the concept's evolution. Successfully tackling these challenges results in a nuanced and insightful exploration of a fundamental aspect of the American identity. America In Cambodia Research Paper: America in Cambodia The international affairs and the involvement of America during the Vietnam War was one of the greatest involvements in American history. Not only was America involved with Vietnamese affairs, but the U.S. was also involved in Cambodian affairs as well. The historical relevance of Cambodiais often overlooked when discussing the war as a whole. The events in Cambodia were events marked in history as side effects of the Vietnam War; however, Cambodia is more that just a side effect of the war. The secret bombings, the great Pol Pot genocide, the killing fields and the strict communist society that developed should not be marked as a mere side effect of Vietnam War history. Nixon had illegally bombed a neutral country, without the consent of the Cambodian government or the consent of Congress; therefore, making Nixon s actions unacceptable to most of the American public. However, these actions should have been deemed as acceptable according to Nixon s Administration because: The President was acting under his Constitutional authority as Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces to assure the security of the troops under his command, and also under his Constitutional authority as Chief Executive for the conduct of foreign affairs (Williams et al. 287). The Administration argued that Nixon had the right to do as he did for the good of the American troops, as well as for the good of the Cambodian people (Williams et al. 287). But in actuality, the bombings were perhaps one of the greatest factors leading to the rise of one of the worst communist groups in history, the Khmer Rouge. ... The almost constant thunder of the American bombing, which the population has become injured to, has been joined by the sound of small arms fire along the city s perimeter and, on one occasion, rockets and

Environmental Management Of Mining From New Acland Coal Mine ENVM3305 Environmental Management in Mining Field report New Acland Coal Mine Name: SГўmara Oliveira Student number: s4338824 INTRODUCTION The minerals are indispensable for the maintenance of industrial activity, since products such as automobiles, machinery, tractors, cement, among others, are manufactured from raw materials coming from this extraction and that these activities are often energetically dependents on certain minerals, such as coal for example. However, the mining activity promotes direct impacts on nature, leading to environmental degradation. It is an activity that extracts resources that are on the ground or underground, from where various types of minerals (gold, silver, iron ore, tin, bauxite, and many others) are removed. Like all exploitation of natural resources, the mining activity causes impacts on the environment both in the exploitation of natural areas and waste generation. It intensely alters the mined area and the surrounding areas, where deposits of waste and tailings are made. Furthermore, when we have the presence of harmful chemicals in the ore processing stage, this could mean a serious problem from an environmental point of view (de Freitas, 2014). According to Souza Silva (2007), the main problems arising from the mining can be grouped into five categories: water pollution, air pollution, noise pollution, land subsidence, fires caused by coal and radioactive waste. Through this report will be made a specific of the

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Sales in the United States are declining due to the public concern over sugar. Sales in Europe and Japan are flat, while markets in China and India offer up strong completion for Coca Cola. Africa s middle class population is growing at a steady rate, so the disposable income is increasing. This creates an opportunity for Coca Cola to tap into growth opportunities (Natalia Cheverri 2012). How does it work? Although there are areas in Africa lacking infrastructure, Coca Cola operates in every country. Coca Cola utilized a franchising manufacturing model that works perfectly for operating in Africa. Coca Cola partnered with local licensed bottling groups to help create the product. Coca Cola manufactures the syrup concentrate and sells to the bottlers. The bottlers add filtered water, carbonation, and sweetener to make the final product. With this model, Coca Cola is sharing the wealth with local investors /community members. This creates sustainable business and improves community buy in with Coca Cola s existence in Africa (Maritz Jaco 2010). Because partnerships are formed with local bottlers and local members of the community, there is a vested interest by the locals to keep Coca Cola s business successful. Through these partnerships, Coca Cola is able to help build the socio economic system in different towns. Distribution

Stephen Paulsen is the high school Pastor at Venture Christian Church. He has been a high school Pastor for about 13 years. Stephen has started his ministry at Venture Christian Church since August 2014. Before working at Venture, He began his first ministry in serving the high schoolstudents in South Carolina. He has four kids (three boys and one daughter) and a beautiful wife. This paper will reflect on the answers that I got during the interview, according to his experience in his ministry. The Next Generation Ministry Stephen s tasks for his ministry at Venture is to lead and pastoring the high school students that come to this church. He started to respond to God s calling in his life by taking seminary in Moody Bible Institute, Chicago. He noticed the calling of God in his life since he was young. Another task in being the high school student Pastor at Venture is to be involved in the outreach ministry on the weekdays. His vision for the ministry is to see these students grew in their relationship with Jesus since they were little. Stephen believes in the power of a healthy community. That is why, besides the regular service on Sunday at 11 am, they also have a small group meeting for the students every Tuesday. The meeting will focus more on building a deeper relationship with the students by spending the time with them, to have a fellowship, and get to
  • 7. The Journey Of Ibn Fattouma By Naguib Gibran s On Crime... Culture is a shared set of beliefs, values, goals, and attitudes within a social, racial, or religious group. Someone s culture is easily shown, even if in only in the slightest ways. The things people say, their specific beliefs, or the choices they make can give a deep insight into someone s culture. I feel that culture, in one way or another, is clearly presented in On Crimeand Punishment by Khalil Gibran as well as The Journey of Ibn Fattouma , by Naguib Mahfouz. On Crime and Punishment by Khalil Gibran discusses how crimes are committed, but there is almost always more to the story. On the way, he meets an old man who is supposed to help him get to the land of Gebel, but first he must join the other followers to prepare for the journey. I feel that culture is shown within this part of the text because all of the followers of the old man sit with him each day to listen and sing. The groups shared behavior and belief that by doing this, they will be prepared to go to the land of Gebel shows culture within that community. Each day they do the same thing because it is what they all know and believe and that is exactly what culture is. It also shows an insight into how the culture teaches people to respect their elders. The people are following and listening to the old man because he is old and considered wiser than everyone else. This is a common belief among many cultures. In the end of the text, I think it also shows how people can choose to break away from their culture. • 8. The Knowledge Argument By Jackson The Knowledge Argument by Jackson is one of the main threats to Physicalism. Physicalism says that everything that is or could ever exist is ultimately physical in nature. The Knowledge Argument claims that there are truths about consciousness that cannot be deduced from the complete physical truth. Lewis response on the other hand, disagrees with the KnowledgeArgument. In this paper I will address the Knowledge Argument and Lewis response to it. The following is a thought experiment by Jackson to undermine Physicalism. Mary is a brilliant scientist who is, for whatever reason, forced to investigate the world from a black and white room via a black and white television monitor. She specialises in the neurophysiology of vision and acquires, let us suppose, all the physical information there is to obtain about what goes on when we see ripe tomatoes, or the sky, and use terms like red , blue , and so on. She discovers, for example, just which wavelength combinations from the sky stimulate the retina...What will happen when Mary is released from her black and white room or is given a colour television monitor? Will she learn anything or not? It seems just obvious that she will learn something about the world and our visual experience of it. But then it is inescapable that her previous knowledge was incomplete. But she had all the physical information. Ergo there is more to have than that, and Physicalism is false (Jackson 130). At this point of time, Mary supposedly

  • 12. How Lean s Helps A Sustainable Print Company How Lean Methodology Leads to a Sustainable Print Company Continual improvement is a goal for all print companies looking for future success. To become a sustainable company one needs to cut unnecessary costs and waste generated by doing business. Removing cost and waste may seem like simple things to do but finding the necessary changes and implementing these changes requires time and effort. A method used to accomplish this goal is lean manufacturing. Lean manufacturing is a continuous improvement practice that focuses on waste reduction. Waste in its simplest form is anything that is excessive and consumes resources. It can also be referred to as non value added activities that do not add value to the end product (Rizzo, 2008, 58). Sustainability on the other hand recognizes a print company s capability to satisfy the 3 dimensions: people, profit and environment (Wirtenberg, 2013). These three dimensions are referred to as the triple bottom line (TBL). Even when a business is making a profit, anything that does not create value for customers, fulfill employees needs, and benefit the environment is wasteful and must be restructured to eliminate non value added activities (Wandiga, 2013).This is the philosophy of lean manufacturing; a beneficial concept that can help reduce the amount of wasted resources in a company and contribute to its sustainability. Knowing the theories behind lean and sustainability is not enough, print companies need to know how to implement

Dr. John Snowwas known as an intelligent physician who had a background with anesthesia advancements. He believed that cholera was a waterborne disease and that it was contaminated by the sewage. Edward Scissorhands, is Tim Burton s take on the Frankenstein story. We can clearly see the influences that have appealed to Tim Burton in the classic Frankenstein (1931) was not the character s monstrousness appeal but the sense of sad sorrow that audiences sympathized to in Boris Karloffs performance. Whereas in Tim Burton s vision, we see a Special character as the Frankenstein Monster, in the similar way that we call people with disabilities Special. And then we have Vincent, a short stop motion animation. The short film itself is an entertaining aspect of a suburban boy named Vincent who recites Edgar Ellen Poe and categorizes with Horror filmstar, Vincent Price. With similarities to Edward Scissorhands, the main character is a chance for Tim Burton to represent himself on the screen as a tortured boy, outsider and artist. I am going to discuss how cultural and psychological concerns are represented through characterization, art direction, cinematography, and sound. I will support my discussion by analyzing a reflection on both the similarities and differences between the two films, and whether a distinctive Burton signature (aesthetics, cultural and psychological concerns) is evident. Cultural and psychological concerns is apparent through the use of characterization. Isolation/Alienation in the suburban life plays a big role in both the films

The forests remaining are in danger as the human population goes up, the need for resources will also increase and this will make the deforestation of the last forests come quicker before humans realize it is too late. Unless the people address this threat to the world, it will be too late because this is something that can be fixed, the forests can be rebuilt but it has to start right now before there is nothing people can do. There are many causes for deforestation such as, clearing space for urbanization, making areas available for houses, or harvesting the lumber for goods and other consumer items and all of these have an effect on the world. The consequences of deforestation can affect all aspects of life on Earth, including the water cycle, the soil, and the life quality of species around the world. • 27. The Production Possibilities Frontier 1. A reduction in trade barriers has two effects on the economy. The production possibilities frontier will move outward, and the economy will move closer to the production possibilities frontier. Both outcomes are related. Freer trade creates more markets for the country for its goods and services. This allows companies to produce more, but it does not directly change the production capacity of the nation. Thus, the economy moves closer to the production possibilities frontier (Rittenberg Tregarthen, 2009). The reason that the production possibilities frontier also moves owes to the theory of comparative advantage. Freer trade allows the country to focus production on those goods and services in which it has comparative advantage. Thus, the economy s production becomes more efficient. Given that the factor resources (people, capital) have not changed, an increase in efficiency will push the production possibilities frontier outward. This is because the total capacity is going to be higher. Note that there is a difference between producing the same things more efficiently, and producing goods that are more efficient. The total capacity of the economy is changed when the mix of product and services is changed, marking a shift in the curve to go along with moving production closer to the curve. In addition, trade encourages technological transfer. Firms in each country learn from one another, and the transfer of knowledge and technology is one way that this occurs.

  • 30. The United States And The Great Depression To Americans, Australia may seem like a completely distant and disconnected land just because of how far it is and because it is technically and island. However, the fact of the matter is that Australia, just like most of the places colonized by Great Britain, is still considered a western country. That along with the interconnectedness of a globalized economy makes it so that Australia is still affected, both positively and negatively, by the changes of the United States and Britain. Such was the case when the United States suffered what is now known as the great depressionin 1929. The great depression spread throughout most western countries and beyond and Australia was no exception. Australia was hit with the depression not long after the United States and it reached its peak in 1932. The depression hit Australia quite hard and the economic recovery was fairly slow and lasted until just about the beginning of the Second World War. This was partly due to having a number of badly implemented policies by a disputing government. While some say that it was the Premiers Plan that led the country out of the depression others argue that there was no one single policy or plan responsible but rather a combination of many. One act that had a hand in leading Australia out of the great depression was the devaluation of the currency. Explanation of chosen theory: To first understand the situation that Australia was in during the great depression and all of the events that lead to

Now day s social media sites have become the most popular form to get the news and information. The biggest tool in the media that generates revenue by the millions every day, is advertising. The media has its way of showing us constructive information when it comes to news channels, travel and other educational shows. Kids benefit from watching these, since it can boost self esteem, heighten interest levels in a particular subject, or encourage them to ask relevant questions. We have a sense of what is happening around us, with a fair insight about how things work elsewhere on the globe. We can view the world through the television, even if we are rooted in one spot the whole time. The largest group of immigrants that came from Mexico has settled in Arizona, California, Texas and New Mexico. These areas of the United States also happen to share a significant historical grievance with the United States. The cities of Los Angeles, San Diego and San Antonio all share Hispanic roots as evidenced in the origin of their names. Those areas were once considered a territory of Mexico, but annexed from Mexico during the Mexican American war and The Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo in 1848. In 2000, nearly 13 percent of Americans claimed Hispanic ancestry (US Census Bureau, 2000). Accounting for more than 20 million people, the Mexican origin population surpasses the sum of all nonblack minority groups combined . The Mexican origin population also surpasses every white ethnic group except for German Americans (US Census Bureau 2008). It is projected that non Hispanic whites will no longer be the majority of the population in 2042 according to the US Census Bureau. The shields not only dug through mud but also served as the shell beneath which the actual tunnel walls were constructed. The tunnel walls were built of iron rings filled in with concrete making sure it was not hollow. Two shields were used; one began on the New York shore and the other on the New Jersey shore. They finally were able to meet in October 1924. The 1.6 mile span of the Holland Tunnel was the first tunnel under the Hudson River that allowed for the passing of vehicles. When it was finally opened, it was the longest underwater and mechanically ventilated tunnel in the world. As I have previously said, throughout the 1990s the Cali and Medellin drug cartels dominated the world cocaine trade. Both cartels were made up of several different drug trafficking organizations, each containing its own specific organizational structure. These cartels hid their cocaine production labs in remote, jungle regions, where Colombian insurgent groups provided them cover. In exchange for this cover, rebel groups such as the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombiaderived much of their funding from the cartels. The cartels were also strong advocates toward bribing. Whether it is police, judges, or politicians, those who did not agree to the varying bribes were often threatened and held captive. When it first launched in the United States, the original price was 100 dollars more than that of the PS4 s original price of 400 dollars. In todays society, people or perhaps only me, tend to buy the cheaper options of things. So of course, people brought the PS4 over the Xbox One. Two years later, Morris Kent entered a woman s apartment, took her wallet and raped her. Morris Kent was sent to adult court system, he then was sentenced 5 15 years in prison in each count. This is of particular significance due to Macbeth, in essence, being written for King James, and Shakespeare s caution in not encouraging the overthrow of a King. Shakespeare s compelling argument that unchecked ambition results in losing one s humanity to evil is displayed in Macbeth s soliloquy in Act 1 Scene 7. Here Macbeth tries to rationalise killing Duncan. Shakespeare uses the technique of listing counter arguments, to emphasise the supreme number of arguments against killing Duncan and contrasts this with the one argument; ambition. Here Shakespeare uses extended imagery to argue that unchecked ambition causes evil and a loss of humanity, I have no spur to prick the sides of my intent, but only Vaulting ambition which o erleaps itself and falls on th other. Here Shakespeare compares Macbeth to a horse rider, and says that he has not reason to get on the horse, to dig in the horse with his spurs, than vaulting ambition. This notion is further discussed in that this vaulting action may result in him going too far over and crashing on the other side of the horse. This in essence also foreshadows the negative consequences of murdering Duncan that are explored later in the play. Through this extended imagery, Shakespeare argues that ambition is the only justifiable reason for killing Duncan but then counters this

(Povey) Pit bulls are known for their aggressive nature, but in F.E.D.S., Roland Fox claims the animals will act how they are trained to

Unfortunately, the age of exploration of the Frontier officially ended in 1890 with the U.S Census Bureau declaring that here can hardly be said to be a frontier line. A historian, Frederick Jackson Turner, claimed that the Frontier shaped American culture and the attitude of Americans. By evaluating U.S Census Bureau statistics, he famously wrote the Frontier Thesis. Along with the Frontier Thesis, Turner contributed to the field of New History, primarily analyzing the West and Sectionalism of the United States. • 58. Summary Of The Devil And Miss Prym Comparison between Hero and The Devil In Miss Prym The book The Devil And Miss Prym by Paulo Coelho and the movie Hero starring Jet Li even though in different languages, share a plethora of similarities. The Devil And Miss Prym tells the story of a young woman from the village of Visco, Chantal Prym. Her life was very simple and seemed so innocent, until the Devil walked into Visco and offered her something she so strongly felt she deserved a way out of Visco. Of course there was a small price to pay, somebody had to die. After this day Chantal lived with a devil on one shoulder and an angel on the other, constantly fighting to win her over. In the end Gods light shined brighter and Chantal was able to make the right decisions, saving herself and her village. The movie Hero by Jet Liwas about an orphaned, nameless, assassin who blamed the King for the death of his family, and wanted revenge. He was able to get within 10 paces of the restless King making him believe he killed the 3 assassins that had been after him. The king soon realized that Nameless s story did not add up and he had to be an assassin. Even so, he chose a different fate, because of what broken sword had taught to him. This was his highest ideal, and with that knowledge the desire to killno longer existed, only peace, not revenge. When not blinded by hate he was able to see the King s mission to unite all of China, and Spared, his life only after passing on these wise words. Each main character dealt a with a Person Versus Self battle, both stories had common archetypes with some playing the innocent and others the Sage, and both stories share a philosophy that is utilitarianism. In both of these stories the biggest battle of all was fought within the mind of the main character. Chantal faced this throughout much of the story as she questioned whether should she steal the gold? Should she tell the villagers of the message the devil shared with her? Should she help Berta? It was a tough battle between her morals, her ego and what she felt she deserved after living her whole life in Visco, even though she was different than everyone else there. In the end she ended up realizing she wasn t so different from them after all. She was able
  • 59. Montaigne – of Cannibals Acceptance and understanding into a persons society is one of the major goals that people strive to achieve. There is a natural tendency for the individual to be compelled to join the majority. Many times, however, a person will change themselves to fit into the group instead of having the group change itself for the person. This forces a person to take action, form opinions or adopt customs that do not reflect their own beliefs. Montaigne addresses the differences between two distinctly different forms of society in his essay Of Cannibals. Montaigne s comparison between the recently discovered aborigines of the new world and his European society compels a person to reconsider what an ideal society should be. A more comfortable living standard creates more vices. I believe the inhabitants of the new world could live out their lifestyle because they were ignorant to their own possibilities. However, these possibilities were discovered and utilized by the Europeans. With more knowledge and understanding the basic society that Europe once belonged to grew into the society that discovered the new world. The possibility of discovering what an ideal society would be portrayed as is an impossible feat. This is impossible because the ideal society is all subjective. I agree with Montaigne that the basic society, that is ignorant of their potential creativity and imagination, can create an ideal society. I do not agree however, that a complex society is only the things he says it is, brutal and greedy. I believe that he has overlooked all the good qualities that a basic society can
