Violent Video Game Essay
Crafting an essay on the subject of "Violent Video Games" poses a unique set of challenges due
to the contentious nature of the topic. Firstly, the extensive body of research surrounding the
impact of violent video games on individuals, particularly on aggression and behavior, requires
careful consideration. Navigating through conflicting studies and expert opinions demands a
keen analytical eye to present a balanced and well-supported argument.
Moreover, the essay must delve into the cultural and societal aspects of video game consumption,
addressing concerns about desensitization to violence and potential implications on real-world
behavior. Balancing the exploration of these negative aspects with acknowledging the
entertainment and artistic value of video games requires a nuanced approach to maintain
objectivity.
Another layer of complexity lies in understanding and explaining the various perspectives on the
issue. Addressing the concerns of parents, educators, and policymakers, while also recognizing
the rights of gamers and the responsibilities of the gaming industry, adds depth to the analysis.
Striking a balance between freedom of expression and potential harm is a delicate task that
requires a thorough understanding of ethical considerations.
In terms of structure, an effective essay on this topic necessitates a clear introduction that sets
the stage for the discussion, a well-organized body that explores different facets of the argument,
and a compelling conclusion that summarizes key points and offers potential solutions or
avenues for further research.
Despite the difficulty, tackling the "Violent Video Game" essay provides an opportunity to hone
critical thinking skills and develop the ability to synthesize complex information. It challenges
the writer to engage with opposing viewpoints and present a well-reasoned stance while
acknowledging the gray areas within the topic.
In conclusion, composing an essay on the impact of violent video games is a challenging yet
intellectually stimulating endeavor. It demands a careful analysis of research, an understanding
of societal nuances, and a balanced presentation of diverse perspectives. However, navigating
these challenges allows for personal growth and the development of crucial analytical and
argumentative skills.

Nas The National Aeronautics And Space Administration
Our space program the National Aeronautics and Space Administration or NASA is
underfunded and should receive more funding from our government. Since NASA s
founding they have done many significant things in history, we have all heard of Neil
Armstrong the man on the moon and Apollo 12 a group of 12 astronauts successful
trip to the moon and back. It has not just been these feats of technology accomplished
either, the satellites in orbit around the Earth are something that they put up there and
these tools have been invaluable communication around the world and even
intelligence gathering for our country to keep it safe. So you see all these things,
research and development, deploying more people into space for maintenance on our
satellites require money and our government s funding has gradually fallen to about
half a percent in recent years according to CFR (Council on Foreign Relations)
Backgrounds, this means NASAonly has enough for critical operations and little
remaining for else (Steven Markovich, Space Explorationand U.S. Competitiveness).
NASA needs more funding if they want to continue approaching new frontiers of
science and keep up with the rest of the world in space exploration. The Obama
Administration budget proposal for NASA is $17.5 billion which is below the $17.7
billion appropriated for FY 2014 this may seem like a lot of money but it is only half
a percent of the total budget (Markovich). NASA used to be able to contract for

The Effects Of Socioeconomics On Children s Children
Imagine a boy that has been teased mercilessly by his peers throughout his schooling
because of his clothes and his free and reduced lunch status. He is constantly under
pressure from peers to have the newest and niftiest gadgets; nevertheless, his mother
cannot afford to provide food and permanent housing, much less, these extra luxuries.
Therefore, he has to comprise with what his mother can afford. She tries to provide
for her children and wants to offer them the world. Nonetheless, due to her economic
situation, she cannot provide her for children adequately; they are forced to ask for
aid from the government, close family, and friends. This situation brings light to the
turmoil that socioeconomics brings upon children and that they need to endure to
survive in this society. When it comes to socioeconomics, children are the utmost
affected. Socioeconomics has long term effects, prevalently distresses children in
school and in development. Through my friend s experience that he has shared with
me, it has allowed me to notice the harrowing effects that socioeconomics has on
children. First, one may ask exactly what is socioeconomic statusand other terms that
surround this issue? Socioeconomic status can be defined as an overall ranking of a
person s position in society based on income, education, and occupation (Benokraitis,
2014, p. 142). Socioeconomic status can further be simplified in saying it is a
classification system that is forced upon all people within a
Dracula And Dracula
Imagine a movie is being shown of a person who is casually minding their own
business while taking a stroll through the woods somewhere. Suddenly, there is
eerie and suspenseful music playing in the back of the character s mind and they
think, What in the world is that? They think A. It must be a song they heard a long
time ago, B. Some cute and fuzzy cartoon characters are about to come out and
start singing, or C. They re about to run into a scary monster or murder. Odds are,
if the watcher know how suspenseful movies and novels go, they would probably
pick C. People are able to pick out certain aspects of a novelor movie and know that
something bad is about to happen. Same as in the movie Pride and Prejudice and
Zombies, originally written by Seth Grahame Smith, and then produced into a
movie by Burr Steers. Vampires and zombies, such as in these novels and movies,
would make someone scared, mostly because of how strange and different they are
from us, also known as The Other. The ideas of suspense, monstrous or scary beings,
and The Other shown throughout Pride and Prejudice and Zombies were all
influenced by the classic novel Dracula, written by Bram Stoker.
The idea of suspense is represented differently depending on what the movie or
novel is about. Movies that have characters that are considered to be fictional would
more likely have stronger suspense than a movie that has characters that were living
in real times. An article relating to the movie Pride and
Human Rights Violations In Australia
Human rights violations occur all around the world whether it s the genocide of
millions because of beliefs or if it s the fact that people are left with restrictions that
others are not affected by, similar to the segregation that previously existed in the
United States . One violation of human rights that occurred in Australia that has
caused controversy was the sterilizationof disabled women in Australia. This
sterilizationcaused an uproar because of the violation of a woman s right to produce
offspring, regardless of her mental status. This forced sterilization on the mentally
disabled women of Australia became a situation in which the UN became involved
because of the violation of human rights. Globally, it it considered inhumane to...

Elizabeth Proctor Conflicts
The Crucible
The witch hunt was not, however, a mere repression. It was also, and as importantly,
a long overdue opportunity for everyone so inclined to publicly express his guilt and
sin, under the cover of accusations against the victims. (Page 7 of Act One). These
conflicts result and produce even more tragic occurrences. These conflicts are
between either those have sinned and been accused John Proctor, those who have
been sinned against and accused out of jealousy and fear Elizabeth Proctor, and those
who conducted an act of rage, jealousy, ignorance, and hatred, as Abigail Williams
had. The two relationships between the Proctors and then John and Abigail and the
conflict that tie in with all three situations make up the ... Show more content on

John knows he did wrong and had repented his ways, while Abigail only wished to be
with him and refused to repent or forget what happened between her and John. After
John admits that he wants nothing to do with her, she stirs up a revenge plan and
accuses both John and Abigail of dealings with the Devil. Through jealousy, revenge
and resentment, Abigail cooks up chaos in Salem the sort of chaos that could have
been easily prevented considering the contributions to the event.
The conflicts between Elizabeth Proctor and Abigail are quite evident in the fact
that Elizabeth is fully aware of John s affair with Abigail. Abigail hates Elizabeth
for firing her and taking her away from the close proximity to John. So, essentially,
the conflict between the two derives from the love they both have for John, causing
great animosity between the two. Elizabeth is conflictingly threatened by Abigail s
youth and beauty and the assumption that she may still desire her husband. From
that obsessive desire, Elizabeth s life, along with her husband s life, may be at
stake. Clearly, because of Abigail s desire, Elizabeth was accused, causing John to
involve himself in the case to save his wife, but then losing his one.
John wants to get over his mistakes, to do just that he has decided to refuse Abigail s
love. He is dealing with relationships with two women, which is a huge crime under
the strict rules of the Puritans. In regards to
Plato Republic And Video Games Essay
Both Plato s Republic and videogames offer people a unique outlook on Justice.
Video Games especially role playing games allow players to create their own justice
(or lack of justice). Through the player s choices justice either reveals itself in
unexpected ways or it simply does not exist, and all is controlled by what the player
chooses. The same can be said for The Republic it may not be a videogame in the
same sense but it is still a mind game. Socrates and the interlocutors are creating a
city with their minds, to find justice on a much smaller scale, being the soul. Plato
makes it clear that the city is not real and should be treated as such. The same goes
for a videogame, one must take every action and consequence with a grain of... Show

In the sick city things become a lot more complex, the city now needs an army. Not
only to protect itself from invaders but to also keep the city thriving since the city
needs resources. The only way to get those resources and by going out and fighting
for them. Video Games like Mass Effect offer one aspect of the portrayal of justice
in videogames. There is a lot of power in letting the player choose their destiny. If
the player doesn t like a decision that they made then it only intensifies the
importance of their actions. Socrates also tries to explain this to the interlocutors
when he says, Then the city must be made bigger again. This healthy one isn t
adequate any more (Plato 373B). The whole city needed to be revamped because
the consequence of Glaucon wanting a city with more stuff has changed the city
itself. Each action that is made whether in videogames or in The Republic has its
consequence. As a result of that the player or the characters have to plan
accordingly to the changes they make, and value what is really important to them.
Justice can also be portrayed in videogames through it being integrated into the
story. Developers of the game may choose to instead depict acts of justice or
injustice the way they view them instead of giving the player a choice. The goal in
the end is to connect with the player and show them a different way to view justice.

The Niger Delta And The Oil Companies
The Niger Delta is a region of Nigeria that is very rich in crude oil and gas. Crude
oil and gas make up 70% of the country s revenue and 95% of it s export earnings
(Ezekoli, 5608). Those percentages are incredibly high and represents large
amounts of money that can be found in the region. However, the people of the
Niger Delta never see the wealth that comes from their natural resources. The wealth
instead goes to the oil companies set up in the area as well as the pockets of a few
elite government officials. The disconnect between the people of Nigeriaand the oil
companies and governments is incredible (Ezekoli, 5609). The effects are slum
turned neighborhoods, increased poverty, and job loss. In order to improve the
conflict in the Niger Delta, the government and oil companies need to allow more
involvement of women and people as voters and elected officials, and create or
adhere a sustainable environmental regulations plan. The poor relationship
between the oil companies and the communities in the Niger Delta is not sudden,
it s historical context dates back to as early as the 1930 s and 1950 s. It was 1937
when two British oil companies merged into what today is known as Shell. Shell
replaced the initial German oil company in the area from 1908 (Umejesi, 117). Shell
set up impressive human and material forces and conducted their first drilled oil well
in 1951 in the city of Iho. Worry quickly struck everyone in Nigeria. Shell worried

The Personification of For all vices, for all victims :
In her poem, For all voices, for all victims, Antjie Krog makes use of the metaphors
in lines four through eleven to bring life to the redeemed South Africa in a post
apartheid time: it breathes becalmed after being wounded in its wondrous throat
in the cradle of my skull it sings, it ignites my tongue, my inner ear, the cavity of

The idea of the line, it breathed becalmed, (Krog, in Carolin, 2014: l. 4) Antjie
Krog creates a sense of relief with, as the feeling of calming is one felt only by
humans, she makes use of the comparison to personify South Africa. The image
created by a calming country can only take place if to one that has previously been
harmed, hence the line, after being wounded, which further explains the image that
South Africa is calmed after the severity of the wound which was caused by the
apartheid era. The following lines, it sings, it ignites/ my tongue, my inner ear, the
cavity of heart/ shudders towards the outline/ new in soft intimate clicks and

Essay about Scene Analysis of David Lynch s Film, Blue
Velvet
Blue Velvet: Scene Analysis
The opening scene in David Lynch s Blue Velvet portrays the theme of the entire film.
During this sequence he uses a pattern of showing the audience pleasant images, and
then disturbing images to contrast the two.
The first shot of the roses over the picket fence and the title track Blue Velvet
establishes the setting (Lumberton) as a typical suburban town. The camera starts on
a bright blue sky with birds chirping and flying by and then tilts down to bright red
roses over a bright white fence (red, white and blue symbolizes the American dream
maybe?). Both the visual and audible aspects of this shot gives a pleasant feeling of
safety and serenity.
The next shot is of a bright red fire truck slowly ... Show more content on

The next shot is an establishing shot of a house in the neighborhood. It cuts to a
man watering his lawn with a hose and then to a woman inside watching a crime
film (ironic that crime is a theme of this film) on the television and drinking
coffee. It cuts back to the man outside and to the spigot and snake like hose. The
hose is leaking and the man struggles to untangle the hose from the branch. It cuts
back and forth between the hose and branch and then back to the man as he grabs
his neck and collapses to the ground. As he lays there having a stroke (maybe?) on
the ground with the hose in his hand, a dog playfully bites the stream and a baby
eating a popsicle walks up. It zooms in on the dog twice and the frame rate is
lowered. This in a way symbolizes how ignorance is bliss. The dog and the baby
have no idea what has happened to the man, just like the people in the town have no
idea what happens behind closed doors.
After the dog it cuts to a close up of the grass in begins to zoom in, closer and
closer. The score becomes non existent and the churning noise begins and becomes
louder as the grass gets closer. The camera moves through the grass and the
disturbing sound of bones breaking becomes prominent. The lighting becomes darker
and darker and the beetles are revealed. The beetles are shot with very low key
lighting
Children Must Become Competent in Reading Before They

Introduction
Writing has existed as far back as the 7th millennium BC and the 4th millennium BC,
it first started with mnemonic symbols which later became a system of ideograms.
In the early days people wrote on different things, such as silk, rocks, wood, papyrus etc.
It wasn t Until the 15th century were parchment or vellum (calfskin) were used as
pages for the first books.
A book can be said to be a set of written or printed made of ink and paper usually
fastened together or coupled electronically (e books) for the purpose of storing or
recording information. Collins and Cheek (1999) explained that reading involves a
complex thought process in order to understand a writing or printed message.
According to Rubin (2002), reading is a total integrative process that starts with the
reader and includes the affective, perceptual, and cognitive domains. Okebukola
(2004) affirms that,by reading books, humans have the tools to transmit knowledge
from one generation to another; it allows one to listen to the wisdom of those who
have lived in the past and so on. This even expressed by religious prophets. The
Apostle Paul in the bible admonished Timothy study to show yourself approved unto
God (11 timothy 2:15). Islam values acquisition of knowledge (literacy, reading, etc.)
As very important The holy Qur an reveals that the first communication ( between

Academic Freedom
Academic freedom in Kenya
Freedom is a basic to education in modern democracies. Freedom in education can
be categorized in the various aspects such as; Freedom of the child, academic
freedom and freedom to read. Mc Garry and Ward, (1966) puts it: A free society
and a free world imply a free educational system and a freedom within the
framework of maximum control. In such a closed society they maintained, freedom
in education may consist of ability to say or do in consequential things. The legal
idea of academic freedom originated in Germany in 1850. The Prussian Constitution

exercise of these rights must respect the rights and limitations of others and must

Academic freedom consists in protecting the intellectual independence of professors,
researchers and students in the pursuit of knowledge and the expression of ideas from
interference by legislators or authorities within the institution itself. This implies that
no political, ideological or religious orthodoxy will be imposed on professors and
researchers through the hiring or tenure or termination process, or though any other
administrative means by the academic institution. Nor shall legislatures impose any
such orthodoxy through their control or the university budget. This protection
includes students.

Examples Of Doublethink In 1984 By George Orwell
Throughout the novel, Orwell makes it clear that The Party needs doublethink to
abstain the amount of power they have. Doublethink is where one believes in two
contradictory beliefs or opinions. The way the Party fulfills their need of the people
using doublethink is with constant propaganda and sayings. The slogan Ignorance
is Strength is especially controlling. If the people are kept ignorant, the Party
remains it s strength. Another example of doublethink and propaganda would be
the slogan Freedom is Slavery . The people believe they are free, but in reality, they
are slaves to the Party; they do as they are told or consequences are present. As long
as people use doublethink, the Party will remain intact. While Winston is being

The Plug-In Drug by Marie Winn Essay
In an article The Plug In Drug the author Marie Winn discusses the bad influence of
television on today s society. Television is a drug that interfere with family ritual,
destroys human relationships and undermines the family.
Marie Winn claims that television over the years have effected many American family
life. Since television is everyday ritual, many American tend to spent more time with
television than they do with their family and this result in unhealthy relation in
family. She also acknowledge that television destroy family unique quality that they

of the television.
But, for most part, author feel television is drug ; that is corrupting today s society.
Many of us fail to recognize how it has caused the decline of family rituals, the
avoidance of relationships and the destruction of the family. Our addiction to this
daily habit cause us to escape the real world.
Although Marie Win had her point, I tend to disagree that television is a bad
influence on our lives. Television does not destroy family value; it is us who
destroy family value. For example parents who have little or no time for their
children often substitute television as a baby sitter and parents blame television as
child bad conduct. But it is parents who should to be blame for the child s bad
behavior because not providing proper care and guide for the child. Parents should set
limitation and boundaries for themselves to cope with the television addiction.
Family matter should be their number one priority in family.
Like all drugs television can be helpful in our life. Only if we learn to utilize
television in a properly regimented manner will it enhances our life. It is wise to
learn and balance or time spent at home. It is wise to learn and balance our time

The Family Tree Short Story
The Family Tree
Our story begins in Greece, many years ago. A baby was born in the city of Athens.
Her name was Oakley. Oakley had brown, long hair with big hazel eyes. Her parents
adored her.
Eighteen years passed by and there was a big riot going on in Athens in protest of
Zeus letting Hades capture Persephone. Zeus wanted to teach the citizens of Athens a
lesson by sending them terrible storms. Innocent Oakley didn t know about the
threats from Zeus, but her parents did.
Her parents didn t want Oakley to fear of the storm coming their way, so they didn
t tell her. Her parents also didn t want to leave Athens themselves, they knew they
didn t have the energy to do so. In result, they had to try and get Oakley to move by
herself, without letting her know of the great dangers ahead. Oakley was in her
room, sewing a new blanket for her bed. Her mother called for her to come
downstairs. So of course, she made her way downstairs and saw her parents sitting
on the couch, with a depressed look on their face. What s wrong? said Oakley.
Honey, we have some news for you. We are sending you off to Corfu. said her
mother. Oakleys face turned red. She seemed like she had smoke coming out of
her ears. Are you trying to get rid of me? said Oakley. What did I ever do to you?
Nothing, nothing, said her father. This is for your own safety darling. What is going
on? I m completely happy here in Athens! You must tell me why you are shipping me
off to another city! said
Humor And Alcoholism Essay
Humor and Alcoholism
Introduction
When I think of alcoholism, the first thing that comes to my mind of course is
alcohol and then an addiction to some extent that cannot be broken or a disease that
may be hereditary that has been carried from generation to generation. I never
would think to add humor in the equation when explain or trying to figure out
exactly how it fits into the category of alcoholism. However, after some research I
ve found that alcoholism is definitely considered to be an addiction when the person
is suffering from depending on alcohol in order to get by (Farrand, 1896). From prior
knowledge, I understand that when a person drinks alcohol it blurs vision, slurs
language, and can even alter the thought process in other ... Show more content on

There are also other diseases that humor can be effected in certain areas of the brain,
including Parkinson s Disease and even Autism. Because humor is considered to be
an emotional state of mind, I m sure that the other diseases also share the same region
of the brain, the frontal lobe (prefrontal lobe) may also be effected when a disease
takes over the body because the brain keeps the whole the body functioning, no
matter what the disease is. Earlier in the article I explained that there was a low
percentage of Alcoholism in the human population, but it has risen over time
because in most years getting alcohol has become easier over the years; especially
when it comes to college campus and minors. There have been countless programs
executed as well in order to reduce the incidents that have occurred and the programs
also raise awareness when it comes to informing the general public about the negative
consequences that may come from alcohol. In the end we have to break habits early
so that they do not turn into
Core Competencies Essay
1.Introduction Planning skills are any skills that allow someone to look ahead and
accomplish goals or avoid emotional, financial, physical or social hardship
(Thibodeaux, 2017). Especially for the leaders, planning skills let them make and
implement right decisions. Planning skills relate to seven areas of core competencies.
The first is to set goals. To do this, someone must have a concept of what they want to
do or a holistic vision. The next areas of competence are organization, analysis and
data collection. Other capacities include diagnosing problems and causes; Predictions
and projections; Communication; Evaluation and comparison; And implement and
monitor actions. (Power, 2017). Competency is defined as a manifest constellation...

According to Hays survey: 58 percent say strategic planning skills is the most
important attribute for a CFO to have; Interestingly, CFOs are also increasingly
business partners who work in close contact with the sales function. They agree that
strategic planning is the most important skill for a CFO to possess, followed by
people management, reflecting the CFO s role as a leader, influencer and negotiator
(Sharp, 2016). Current time utilisation revealed that CFOs spend most of their time
on strategic planning, advice and management, and a great deal of time on attracting
and retaining skills, coaching and mentoring staff, investor, stakeholder and market
liaison and communication, and merger and acquisition activities. CFOs felt that the
two most important hard skills for them now and five years down the line, are
general business knowledge and trend analysis, and strategic planning skills (D.,
2013). In short, there is plenty of evidence to show the trend of focusing on the
planning skills of CFOs today and it s time to consider the importance of these skills.
Importance of planning skills to CFOs In this section, the discussion will point to
the importance of planning skills to CFO s job. Planning skills are an indispensable
skill of the leader, especially for CFOs. They must build a strategic vision for the
company, while also managing and planning the financial goals

concerns and complaints 2.1 Explain why individuals might be reluctant to raise
concerns and make complaints In a care home setting a relative may feel like they
are putting their loved one (service user) at risk of further maltreatment or
prejudicial treatment if they complain. They might fear that they will be identified
as being the one whom complained and then, as a result, that the young person
might be the target of a rebellious staff members emotional response. Conversely, a
lot of relatives see how hard the staff are working and feel that they don t want to
complain because they sympathise with the difficult job that the carers have to
carry out, so they might feel like they are being ungrateful for the care their loved
one receives. A relative might also not be aware that they can complain (although
this is in the welcome back and checked by social services and that it has been
given) or might not know what the expectation are for the care of their loved one.
They may assume that what has given them cause for concern is the norm and that in
complaining they will be told that is just the way it is . A relative might not think

Prostate Cancer Research Paper
While many illnesses and diseases are well understood, prostate cancer is one of the
remaining cancerous conditions that is shrouded in misunderstanding. There are
several main reasons for this, not the least of which is that men as a group, simply do
not want to deal with this very common no cancerous condition.
For many men, prostate cancer affects the very core of how they define their own
manhood. The prostate is a key component in the sexual performance and ability of
men. Prostate cancer than strikes at the very heart of how many men view themselves.

Why High School Basketball Players Should Go To College
What would you do? Spend at least one year in college and go to the NBA, or play
overseas in Europe and Asia, play with seasoned veterans, earn a paycheck then go
to the NBA? In the year 2006, the NBA and the National Basketball Players
Association (NBPA) agreed to a rule that would only allow players that were at least
one year removed from high schooland were at least 19 years of age. This rule caused
much controversy among fans, players, and league executives. I believe players
should spend at least one year in collegebefore declaring for the NBA draft.
The first reason a high school basketball prospect should go to college instead of
going overseas is because, they would have to adjust to a totally new culture. ESPN

Playing well on a good college team in the tournament could increase your draft
stock tremendously. Rather than being a backup on a bad Euroleague team
scoring 5 points per game. Take Malachi Richardson for example. Malachi
Richardson, a wing for the Syracuse Orange, his team made the tournament, but
most thought they would not make it very far. Richardson was not considered a
first rounder in the 2016 draft, but after many wins and Richardson leading
Syracuse to the Final Four his draft stock skyrocketed and was seen by some to be
a potential lottery pick in the draft (lottery is within the first 14 picks). He eventually
ended up getting picked at No.22 overall by the Charlotte Hornets. Bottom line is
that, going to college can help because then NBA scouts don t have to go to a
different country.
And the third reason is, if you do not think realistically that you will be drafted, you
still have your scholarship and can stay all 4 years and study for a degree. If you are
considered a high draft prospect, then fail to live up to expectations, you can then
stay more years in college. You can stay more years and improve at basketball for
next year s draft. Or you can do both, stay all four years declare for the NBA draft,
and get your college degree. This is the best reason to go to college instead of going
overseas, because college is a privilege. Not
The Organization Of Symmetry Financial Essay
This analysis is on the organization of Symmetry Financial. This essay will discuss
the attitudes, leadership, managerial policies, and practices used by them. By using
this data, I will provide a list of recommendations on how to improve the company.
This analysis will describe the culture, nature of the company, motivational
techniques, and modes of communication used. I will provide information about the
company to ensure that the readers understand all of the different categories used to
analyze the company. I will provide information on how individuals, and groups of
people behave within the organization. I will also be evaluating their leadership
techniques and how the owners assist in the day to day running of the business.
One of the most important things a business needs to be successful is happy
employees. It is important for employees and managers have an established plan to
deal with critical matters. Managers must study the behavior of their employees to
decide how they will achieve their desired goals. Organizational behavior is the study
of human behavior in organizational settings, the interface between human behavior
and the organization, and the organization itself. (Griffin, 2012) We can divide
organizational behavior in 3 separate categories. The first one is the individuals
within the organization. The second is the work group which is made by placing
workers into specific groups. The last one is how the organization itself behaves.

The, Songs Of The Foxes, And Clear Autumn By Goldberg
Slyly
Gestalt Goldberg
The sum of the parts does not always equal the whole, especially in poetry. In the
anthology On the Blossoming, Lea Goldberg explores the concept of desire. On the
surface, this idea seems well analyzed and discussed. However, by carefully tracking
words, symbols, and images across the poems Dialogue , Songs of the Foxes , and
Clear Autumn, Goldberg slyly elucidates the ephemeral nature of desire, the
dichotomy between actions and emotions, and all the while exposes an over arching
narrative. Word choice plays a crucial role in understanding the poem Dialogue. The
words love , body , bore , shape , and lips are all used in this short poem.
Immediately, this keens the reader into a commentary about love between the two
speakers, He and She. The conflict in the poem arises from He being bound to
love full of abundance and splendor and She being inhibited, by an immense
barrier, to love. She even exclaims how without love, She s blind, and that if this
[love] were to occur She d be resurrected. Furthermore, She mentions how currently
nothing remains to survive, that her present is banal. The poem thus takes on the
form of a warning call about how a romance can only truly come to fruition through
requited love. This reciprocation enables a healthy open mind, as opposed to a
singular lens of a He or She. The idea of a requited romance and selection of lustful
words are not unique to Dialogue , similar motifs and techniques occur throughout
Biomechanics Of The Tympanic Membrane
Darisha Jhutty

BIOE 154: Introduction to Biomechanics
Professor Norman
Biomechanics of the Tympanic Membrane
Background: Over the past years, bioengineers have applied different methods for
modelling the human ear. The human ear is an intricate biomechanical system with
its primary function to sound perception and reception. The ear is divided into 3 main
components, each with its own unique functions: the outer ear (pinna), the middle
ear, and the inner ear. The outer ear, or the pinna, consists of the auricle, the skin
covered cartilage of the ear visible on the outside of the head, as well as the
opening to the auditory canal. The middle ear refers the air filled hollow space
(tympanic cavity) behind the eardrum or tympanic membrane. The tympanic
membrane is a thin, cone shaped membrane that separates the outer ear from the
middle ear (Figure 1a). The tympanic membrane is made up of two main parts: the
fragile pars flaccida (upper region) and robust the pars tersa (lower region). The pars
tersa, composed of three layers: skin, fibrous tissue, and mucus, makes up the
majority of the tympanic membrane. The pars flaccida is often associated with
eustachian tube malfunctions and choleostomas, whereas the pars tersa is associated
with perforations. There are 3 bones, the malleus, incus, and stapes, in the middle ear
(Figure 1b) that vibrate when exposed to the vibrations of the sound waves. The
malleus is attached to the medial surface of the tympanic
change in macbeth character
Macbeth s character shows us the tragedy of over ambitious people; it also shows us
that negative aspects can overwhelm the good side of our personality.
Throughout this piece of writing I will be showing the changes within Macbeths
character, which is the only character within the play that has visible changes in his
character. I will be describing these points by inspecting the asides and soliloquies,
which are both dramatic ironies that place the audience in a privileged position as
they are introduced to the characters thought pattern that gives them an insight to
how he may be feeling. All of which is unbeknown to other characters in the scene.
In Act I, Sc iii, when Macbeth is told that he is the Thane of Cawdor, he is ... Show

and this explains how double faced and furtive devious he becomes.
Act IV, Sc I shows how Macbeth believes only in the witches, he trusts them and
makes all his plans and arrangement according to their prophecies. This doesn t only
show us a mental change but also how Macbeth lost his morality, honesty, and
nobility and became more frenzied, no more mercy to be thought of or shown and
decides, The firstlings of my heart shall be
The firstling of my hand.
Comparing this to the first soliloquy in my piece of writing we perceive a
tremendous development of his personality and attitude. He is not hesitant about
killing any more and will do any thing to keep his throne and power.
Following his meeting with the witches they tell him to be ware Macduff and
macbeth acts upon this warning by sending murderers to kill His wife, his babes, and
all unfortunate souls this act shows in depth how immoral he becomes.
It didn t stop with killing the king, his friend, Lady Macduff and her children;
Macbeth has lost even the sense of what does love and family mean and becomes
more selfish. In Act V, Sc v, the servant informs Macbeth of the distressing sorrowful
news about the death of Lady Macbeth But he replies with cold nerves: She should
have died hereafter;
There would have been a time for such a word
His wife is not one of his main concerns; he does not even respect the sanctity
Compare And Contrast Qin Dynasty And Han Dynasty
In many respects, the Qin Government (256 210 BC) and the Han Government (210
BC 220 AD) played a monumental role in the history of China. Throughout the Qin
and the Han dynasties, not only did China witness policies that standardized various
forms of measurement, but also the strengthening of the central government and the
rise of a bureaucratic empire. Although some posit that the Han and the Qin
governments were completely different, the Han did follow the Qin precedent to
some extent. Differences in ideologies set aside, the Han followed the Qin precedent
in terms of policy, continuing to strengthen the central government after the fall of
the Qin.
During the Qin Dynasty, one of the most notable acts done was the standardization of

The main goal of the Qin was to increase the power of the central government.
Some of the policies incorporated in order to achieve such goal were the
enforcement of standardized laws and punishments, provision of education only
by officials to future government officials, and the movement of wealthy families
to the capital, Xianyang. By keeping wealthy families close to the government in
the capital city, Qin was able to keep them under control and reduce their power.
Private possession of arms was also made illegal. Moreover, the Qin believed that
knowledge should be suppressed in order for the government to be strong. This
ideology led to the burning of books, the suppression of scholars, and education
provided only to future officials for training purposes. Qin ideology also stated that
the emperor and the subjects should have a direct relationship. The First Emperor,
believing in direct rule of subjects by the emperor, was extremely determined, toured
the country to inspect various regions, and was adamant on not being just a
figurehead. Following Qin s precedent, the Han government also focused on
strengthening the central government. Similar to the Qin, the Han used the policy of
direct rule by emperor of subjects. Taxes were levied directly on the subjects
according to age, gender, and imperial rank, as opposed to families or communities.

Research Paper On Gallium
The discovery of such an element as gallium does not come as just any accidental
discovery. Gallium or Ga, atomic number 31 was in a long research process for
fifteen years by Lecoq de Boisbaudran. He had been meticulously studying the spectra
of several chemical elements, Lecoq knew that each and every element produces its
very own and distinct pattern of lines when heated, or spectra. As Lecoq de
Boisbaudran continued his drive to learn more of the distinct element spectra, he
distinguished that the element on the periodic table between indium and aluminum
was yet to be discovered. Lecoq de Boisbaudran theorized that with gallium
supposedly having an atomic numberof 31, it could be that gallium is contained within

Measuring the Cost of Living

Measuring the Cost of Living
Introduction
1931 Year of Great Depression in the USA. But in spite of this fact some people
contrived to earn $80 000, it was famous baseball player Babe Ruth. Even the
President Herberd Hoover had a lesser salary of $75 000. When Ruth was asked if
he thought it was right that his salary was higher than President s he replied that he
had a better year.
Year of 2007 describes a different picture. The average baseball player gets paid
$4.8 million. We consider the fact that the cost of living, products and services has
grown in recent decades. But it does not give us any explanation if Babe Ruth had a
better standard of living than the average baseball player now, because prices for

For example one year pizza Margarita costs $10 and pizza Pepperoni costs $12,
consumers will buy more Margarita then Pepperoni. But the next year the price of
pizza Margarita rises and Pepperoni s price falls, in this way consumers will buy
chipper pizza. But when computing CPI the number of goods is fixed and in this
way the index will show rise of the cost of living, but in reality the increase is lower.
Introduction of new goods since consumer have the variety of goods to buy every
dollar becomes more valuable. In reality introduction of new goods causes a
decrease of the cost of living, but CPI overstates real changes in the cost of living.
Unmeasured quality change some types of goods and services improve their quality
over time, what increases its price. It is difficult to measure quality of the good or
service that is why CPI is overstated, because economists try to adjust the price to its
quality.
The GDP Deflator versus the Consumer Price Index
Two measures of inflation the GDP Deflator and CPI are usually move together, as it
is shown on the graph (http://www.ritholtz.com/blog/2008/08/variation on the

within the country and CPI reflects goods and services consumed within a country.
The CPI increases if price of any imported good rises, but it happens vice versa with
GDP Deflator. We can see it on the example of imported oil. When the price of oil
raises the
Analysis Of Joe Garland s In The Mood
The Jazz era was a time period in which the definition of music began to diverge;
composers were able to express themselves in a sense that was soulful and vibrant,
where any door of possibility became obtainable. In The Mood was a piece by Joe
Garland composed in the 1930 s during the swing era. The iconic Jazznumber had
been arranged by many artists; however, it was not until Glenn Millerorchestrated this
piece so perceptively that In The Mood became so well renowned. It was in 1939
when Miller seamlessly altered the Jazz piece that In The Mood was sent to number
1 on the U.S. charts for 13 weeks in 1940. It can be stated that Glenn Miller
thoughtfully manipulated In The Mood in the swing style that has in effect redefined

Even through imitating the form, melody and rhythm, the piece still transformed into
a diverse jazz piece in comparison to the original. Once more, it is expressed that
Glenn Miller thoughtfully manipulated In The Mood that has in effect redefined this
piece; this is proven through the exploration of three key terminologies: Assimilate,
Innovate and Imitate. Fundamentally, Jazz was a powerful era that essentially
changed the notions of music; Glenn Miller successfully explored this convention
and reformed In The Mood that completely altered its definition as a Jazz
Easy Rider And The Counterculture Movement
The 1960 s ushered in the beginning of a cultural anti establishment movement in the
United States which had become a cultural phenomenon, which spread across much
of the Western World. The counterculture movement gained momentum at the
establishment of the Civil Rights movement, and heavily expanded in protest of the
Vietnam War. The 1960 s was a new decade that greatly shifted away from the
traditional societal authority. The 1960 s highlighted many social issues such as
sexuality, woman s reproductive rights, differing interpretations of the American

hostility towards political authority. The countercultural movement was a new age of

Service Gaps In Little Haiti
Service Gaps. One of the gaps in services and resources in Little Haiti identified is
in education. All of the public schools in Little Haiti have a grade of either C or D (
Miami Dade County Public Schools, n.d.). These schools with below average
achievement scores do not benefit the children attending who are coming from a
community that has a below average high schooldiploma rate. As the workforce
continues to become more competitive, college educationis going to begin to replace
high schooldiplomas as a prerequisite for the majority of jobs. If the public education
system does not begin to provide education that not only aids these youth in obtaining
high school diplomas but additionally supports their advancement through college,
than this community will not be able to move ahead with society. There is a high
concentration of Haitian Americans holding low skill, low wage jobs. Understanding
that Haiti is one of the poorest countries and that immigrants came to the United
States with no formal education, necessary steps need to be taken to ensure that each
generation has an opportunity to advance obtain this education and advance their
community a bit more (Sohmer, Jackson, Katz, Warren, 2005). There are a couple
ways this writer would begin to address this gap. First, the schools need to initiate or
strength their parent association programs. Parents should receive ongoing education
on student progress, areas needing improvement, and ways to best support

It is considered that photography only became widely available to the public when
the Kodak Eastman Company introduced the box shaped Brownie Camera in 1900.
(Baker, n.p.) Its features became more refined since its original placing on the

meaning six photographs could be taken before the slides needed removing. The first
Brownie used a six exposure cartridge that Kodak processed for the photographer.

(Bellis, 2009) Nevertheless, the main selling point of digital cameras was the
convenient way that they could be stored. Every exposure is almost instantly saved
to a removable disk drive, which remarkably expired the use of darkroom
processing. It was convenient, less time was needed to produce an image, making it
particularly appealing to journalism. The photograph has since then become an
instant process. Combined with the invention of the Internet, and booming industry
of personal computers, the newer technology would expire its predecessor. There
are billions of photographs on the Internet, comprising the largest most diverse
photo collection ever assembled. We have access to imagery from all over the
world, using key words and hash tags to catalogue imagery and content; we can see
what is happening without being there. The introduction of digital photography has
enabled photographers to record terabits of imagery which can be stored in minute
places, meaning the coverage that we have of the modern world is greater than ever.
Unlike the formats that Henri Cartier Bresson used, where each roll of film, or
negative slide needed storing in a large physical place, under controlled conditions, an
archive of objects. Automation came with digital photography, its combination of
digital components allowed the camera to automatically detect light qualities, and
Analysis Of The Play After Seeing Mary Stuart
I was really looking forward to watching this play after seeing Mary Stuart. I came
into the play only knowing that the play was about couples. I liked coming into to
the play not really knowing what to expect from the storyline. I thought that the play
was going to be about the couples interacting more with one another as opposed to
interacting in the individual couples. Since the play is named cul de sac I assumed
that there would be more interaction from the cul de sac all together other than the
few awkward encounters. I think I thoughtthat the play was missing a climax. I am
not sure when the climax or the height of the play was reached. I think that the lack
of a climax comes from the vagueness of the character objectives. I... Show more

Johnson character could have been looking for happiness in his job, in his own
personal life, or in his marriage. However, the only true happiness seeking action
we see him do is chase his wife around the kitchen. I also thought there was a lot
going on in the play at that at times it was hard to follow. I felt that there was just a
lot going on and a lot of inferences that had to be made, which took away from the
actors. I also did not like how it seemed that the scenes with the couples were
supposed to be happening simultaneously and it seemed like the day was starting
over every time a new couple would take the stage. I wish there was a more fluid
way those scenes could have been run where you could see the Joneses dancing
while the Smith s were taking the breaks in between the argument. When the
Johnson s switched to the stage, I originally thought that it was a new day because
at the end of the smith scene they were ordering dinner and the lights seemed dim.
It wasn t until Mr. Smith made the comment about making the salmon until I
realized it was still that same day, just being shown from a different house. Again I
wish there was a way the audience could have at least seen a small portion of the
two couples simultaneously just to give the audience an idea of the time frame.
Also I felt like half the time I didn t really know what was going on or that I missed
something. For example when Mrs. Johnson was so appalled that Mr. Johnson had
gotten out of bed
Research Paper On Gay Adoption
Same sex parents are constantly getting rejected by a variety of adoption agencies
because of who they choose to marry. Adopting agencies state that kids growing up
in that type of environment would be unhealthy for the development of the child.
They fear that the child would end up getting bullied by their peers, other
concerning parents, and by the community which they live on. They also fear that
the child will end up making the same life choices as their parents. Ultimately, same
sex parents should be allowed to adopt for the reasons that: gay parents have the
same basic human rights as everyone else, the child would benefit from growing up
in a same sex home, and it would reduce the amount of orphans that are in need of a
loving family.
Are Prozac And Similar Antidepressants Safe And
Effective...
Are Prozac and similar antidepressants safe and effective for children and
adolescents?
Approximately ten percent of our youth suffer from a deppresive/anxiety disorder.
The youth of our society are being treated with anti depressants such as prozac;
which, carry a black box warning. The FDA has required that boxed warnings be
placed on all antidepressant medications warning they may result in increased risk
of suicidal tendencies in children, and young adults aged 18 24 years old. The
black box warning is the highest warning that can labeled on any medication. It
means there has been significant research completed to show a legitimate concern
for the well being of the population who is prescribed the medication. It is
scientifically proven that children s bodies do not absorb and process drugs the
same way that a fully grown adult can, and their brains may critically be affected
as well. Society, parents, doctors and adolescence themselves are forced to make;
what could be, a life changing decision on whether to medicate with the potential for
disaster or not medicate and allow the child to continue suffering from a
psychological disorder. It is clear that both the risks of medicating and not
medicating are suggestively the greatest during the early years of life. The question
that arises is whether we should or shouldn t take the risk. A child s response to a
medication cannot be determined with one hundred percent certainty. It is very
difficult to isolate
Roman Religion And The Roman Empire
The Roman Empire is one of the most well known countries in recorded history. And
this is primarily because it continues to awe people via it s architecture, military, art,
philosophy, and technology. But one of the greatest footprints Ancient Rome has left
for us to study and admire is its culture. As in any society, culture in the Roman
Empirewas of great importance. The Romans had many beliefs, behaviors, and
customs, but one of the things that stood out the most in their culture was their
religion. Roman religion is no longer in practice (Scheid and Lloyd 1). However, the
enthusiasm that it s followers had still exists today. Ever since the time that Roman
religion was just the religion of one city in the Mediterranean region (RГјpke 3),
people have always been marveled by the interesting and spectacular uniqueness of
Rome s religion that has survived throughout the decades of human curiosity.
The Roman religion, as most other religions, was based entirely on the gods.
Therefore, to understand the Roman religion one has to understand the Roman
beliefs concerning the gods. Out of all the gods in the Roman religion, Jupiter was
the most important one (Cavazzi). Jupiter was the ruler of the gods and the major
god of the Romans, and was known to hold thunderbolts which he could use as a
weapon from the sky (Cavazzi). Next to the most respected entity was Juno, or the
wife of Jupiter, she was known as the goddess of women and as the goddess of
fertility (Cavazzi). A
Animal Cruelty In The World Today
There is so much animal abuse/cruelty happening in the world today. There are so
many types of abuse. For example, one type of abuse is neglect. Neglect is not
taking care of a pet, like not feeding them or giving them water. Another type of
abuse is physical abuse. Physical abuse is when someone hitting them, physically
hurting them. Other ways people physically abuse your animal is when there collar
is so tight that it has caused a neck wound or has become embedded in the pet s neck,
Open wounds, signs of multiple healed wounds or an ongoing injury or illness that
isn t being treated, and when they have untreated skin conditions that have caused
loss of hair, scaly skin, bumps or rashes. (Www.humansociety.org)... Show more

For example, make them feel loved and needed. Also to help them do not force
anything on them. Allow them to adapt to their new family and life at their own
pace. And create opportunities for them to success and build
confidence.(healthypets.mercola.com). Every sixty seconds an animal is being
abused. Illinois is the worst about animal abuse. The top five states for animal
abuse is Kentucky, Iowa, Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming. Over one hundred million
animals are abused and killed each year. Also if you know of someone or know
someone who abuses their pets you can call animal control. If you make a report of
alleged animal cruelty, the responding agency is required to investigate. dialing 911
is the quickest route to get a response, but it is also useful to have the proper welfare
number on hand. Be prepared: Do an online search to identify the agency, your local
animal control department, animal shelter or humane society , in your area, and
program the number into your cell

  • 1. Violent Video Game Essay Crafting an essay on the subject of "Violent Video Games" poses a unique set of challenges due to the contentious nature of the topic. Firstly, the extensive body of research surrounding the impact of violent video games on individuals, particularly on aggression and behavior, requires careful consideration. Navigating through conflicting studies and expert opinions demands a keen analytical eye to present a balanced and well-supported argument. Moreover, the essay must delve into the cultural and societal aspects of video game consumption, addressing concerns about desensitization to violence and potential implications on real-world behavior. Balancing the exploration of these negative aspects with acknowledging the entertainment and artistic value of video games requires a nuanced approach to maintain objectivity. Another layer of complexity lies in understanding and explaining the various perspectives on the issue. Addressing the concerns of parents, educators, and policymakers, while also recognizing the rights of gamers and the responsibilities of the gaming industry, adds depth to the analysis. Striking a balance between freedom of expression and potential harm is a delicate task that requires a thorough understanding of ethical considerations. In terms of structure, an effective essay on this topic necessitates a clear introduction that sets the stage for the discussion, a well-organized body that explores different facets of the argument, and a compelling conclusion that summarizes key points and offers potential solutions or avenues for further research. Nas The National Aeronautics And Space Administration Our space program the National Aeronautics and Space Administration or NASA is underfunded and should receive more funding from our government. Since NASA s founding they have done many significant things in history, we have all heard of Neil Armstrong the man on the moon and Apollo 12 a group of 12 astronauts successful trip to the moon and back. It has not just been these feats of technology accomplished either, the satellites in orbit around the Earth are something that they put up there and these tools have been invaluable communication around the world and even intelligence gathering for our country to keep it safe. So you see all these things, research and development, deploying more people into space for maintenance on our satellites require money and our government s funding has gradually fallen to about half a percent in recent years according to CFR (Council on Foreign Relations) Backgrounds, this means NASAonly has enough for critical operations and little remaining for else (Steven Markovich, Space Explorationand U.S. Competitiveness). NASA needs more funding if they want to continue approaching new frontiers of science and keep up with the rest of the world in space exploration. The Obama Administration budget proposal for NASA is $17.5 billion which is below the $17.7 billion appropriated for FY 2014 this may seem like a lot of money but it is only half a percent of the total budget (Markovich). NASA used to be able to contract for designs and
  • 3. The Effects Of Socioeconomics On Children s Children Imagine a boy that has been teased mercilessly by his peers throughout his schooling because of his clothes and his free and reduced lunch status. He is constantly under pressure from peers to have the newest and niftiest gadgets; nevertheless, his mother cannot afford to provide food and permanent housing, much less, these extra luxuries. Therefore, he has to comprise with what his mother can afford. She tries to provide for her children and wants to offer them the world. Nonetheless, due to her economic situation, she cannot provide her for children adequately; they are forced to ask for aid from the government, close family, and friends. This situation brings light to the turmoil that socioeconomics brings upon children and that they need to endure to survive in this society. When it comes to socioeconomics, children are the utmost affected. Socioeconomics has long term effects, prevalently distresses children in school and in development. Through my friend s experience that he has shared with me, it has allowed me to notice the harrowing effects that socioeconomics has on children. First, one may ask exactly what is socioeconomic statusand other terms that surround this issue? Socioeconomic status can be defined as an overall ranking of a person s position in society based on income, education, and occupation (Benokraitis, 2014, p. 142). Socioeconomic status can further be simplified in saying it is a classification system that is forced upon all people within a

Suddenly, there is eerie and suspenseful music playing in the back of the character s mind and they think, What in the world is that? They think A. It must be a song they heard a long time ago, B. Some cute and fuzzy cartoon characters are about to come out and start singing, or C. They re about to run into a scary monster or murder. Odds are, if the watcher know how suspenseful movies and novels go, they would probably pick C. People are able to pick out certain aspects of a novelor movie and know that something bad is about to happen. Same as in the movie Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, originally written by Seth Grahame Smith, and then produced into a movie by Burr Steers. Vampires and zombies, such as in these novels and movies, would make someone scared, mostly because of how strange and different they are from us, also known as The Other. The ideas of suspense, monstrous or scary beings, and The Other shown throughout Pride and Prejudice and Zombies were all influenced by the classic novel Dracula, written by Bram Stoker. The idea of suspense is represented differently depending on what the movie or novel is about. Movies that have characters that are considered to be fictional would more likely have stronger suspense than a movie that has characters that were living in real times. An article relating to the movie Pride and

Human Rights Violations In Australia Human rights violations occur all around the world whether it s the genocide of millions because of beliefs or if it s the fact that people are left with restrictions that others are not affected by, similar to the segregation that previously existed in the United States . It was also, and as importantly, a long overdue opportunity for everyone so inclined to publicly express his guilt and sin, under the cover of accusations against the victims. (Page 7 of Act One). These conflicts result and produce even more tragic occurrences. These conflicts are between either those have sinned and been accused John Proctor, those who have been sinned against and accused out of jealousy and fear Elizabeth Proctor, and those who conducted an act of rage, jealousy, ignorance, and hatred, as Abigail Williams had. John knows he did wrong and had repented his ways, while Abigail only wished to be with him and refused to repent or forget what happened between her and John. After John admits that he wants nothing to do with her, she stirs up a revenge plan and accuses both John and Abigail of dealings with the Devil. Through jealousy, revenge and resentment, Abigail cooks up chaos in Salem the sort of chaos that could have been easily prevented considering the contributions to the event. The conflicts between Elizabeth Proctor and Abigail are quite evident in the fact that Elizabeth is fully aware of John s affair with Abigail. Abigail hates Elizabeth for firing her and taking her away from the close proximity to John. So, essentially, the conflict between the two derives from the love they both have for John, causing great animosity between the two. Elizabeth is conflictingly threatened by Abigail s youth and beauty and the assumption that she may still desire her husband. From that obsessive desire, Elizabeth s life, along with her husband s life, may be at stake. Clearly, because of Abigail s desire, Elizabeth was accused, causing John to involve himself in the case to save his wife, but then losing his one. John wants to get over his mistakes, to do just that he has decided to refuse Abigail s love. He is dealing with relationships with two women, which is a huge crime under the strict rules of the Puritans. In regards to
  • 7. Plato Republic And Video Games Essay Both Plato s Republic and videogames offer people a unique outlook on Justice. Video Games especially role playing games allow players to create their own justice (or lack of justice). Through the player s choices justice either reveals itself in unexpected ways or it simply does not exist, and all is controlled by what the player chooses. The same can be said for The Republic it may not be a videogame in the same sense but it is still a mind game. Socrates and the interlocutors are creating a city with their minds, to find justice on a much smaller scale, being the soul. Plato makes it clear that the city is not real and should be treated as such. The same goes for a videogame, one must take every action and consequence with a grain of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the sick city things become a lot more complex, the city now needs an army. Not only to protect itself from invaders but to also keep the city thriving since the city needs resources. The only way to get those resources and by going out and fighting for them. Video Games like Mass Effect offer one aspect of the portrayal of justice in videogames. There is a lot of power in letting the player choose their destiny. If the player doesn t like a decision that they made then it only intensifies the importance of their actions. Socrates also tries to explain this to the interlocutors when he says, Then the city must be made bigger again. This healthy one isn t adequate any more (Plato 373B). The whole city needed to be revamped because the consequence of Glaucon wanting a city with more stuff has changed the city itself. Each action that is made whether in videogames or in The Republic has its consequence. As a result of that the player or the characters have to plan accordingly to the changes they make, and value what is really important to them. Justice can also be portrayed in videogames through it being integrated into the story. Developers of the game may choose to instead depict acts of justice or injustice the way they view them instead of giving the player a choice. The goal in the end is to connect with the player and show them a different way to view justice. For example, most notably the game franchise Grand Theft Auto
  • 8. The Niger Delta And The Oil Companies The Niger Delta is a region of Nigeria that is very rich in crude oil and gas. Crude oil and gas make up 70% of the country s revenue and 95% of it s export earnings (Ezekoli, 5608). Those percentages are incredibly high and represents large amounts of money that can be found in the region. However, the people of the Niger Delta never see the wealth that comes from their natural resources. The wealth instead goes to the oil companies set up in the area as well as the pockets of a few elite government officials. The disconnect between the people of Nigeriaand the oil companies and governments is incredible (Ezekoli, 5609). The effects are slum turned neighborhoods, increased poverty, and job loss. In order to improve the conflict in the Niger Delta, the government and oil companies need to allow more involvement of women and people as voters and elected officials, and create or adhere a sustainable environmental regulations plan. The poor relationship between the oil companies and the communities in the Niger Delta is not sudden, it s historical context dates back to as early as the 1930 s and 1950 s. It was 1937 when two British oil companies merged into what today is known as Shell. Shell replaced the initial German oil company in the area from 1908 (Umejesi, 117). Shell set up impressive human and material forces and conducted their first drilled oil well in 1951 in the city of Iho. Worry quickly struck everyone in Nigeria. Shell worried they would not find

  • 11. Essay about Scene Analysis of David Lynch s Film, Blue Velvet Blue Velvet: Scene Analysis The opening scene in David Lynch s Blue Velvet portrays the theme of the entire film. During this sequence he uses a pattern of showing the audience pleasant images, and then disturbing images to contrast the two. The first shot of the roses over the picket fence and the title track Blue Velvet establishes the setting (Lumberton) as a typical suburban town. The camera starts on a bright blue sky with birds chirping and flying by and then tilts down to bright red roses over a bright white fence (red, white and blue symbolizes the American dream maybe?). It cuts back to the man outside and to the spigot and snake like hose. The hose is leaking and the man struggles to untangle the hose from the branch. It cuts back and forth between the hose and branch and then back to the man as he grabs his neck and collapses to the ground. As he lays there having a stroke (maybe?) on the ground with the hose in his hand, a dog playfully bites the stream and a baby eating a popsicle walks up. It zooms in on the dog twice and the frame rate is lowered. This in a way symbolizes how ignorance is bliss. The dog and the baby have no idea what has happened to the man, just like the people in the town have no idea what happens behind closed doors. After the dog it cuts to a close up of the grass in begins to zoom in, closer and closer. The score becomes non existent and the churning noise begins and becomes louder as the grass gets closer. The camera moves through the grass and the disturbing sound of bones breaking becomes prominent. The lighting becomes darker and darker and the beetles are revealed. The beetles are shot with very low key lighting

  • 20. The Family Tree Short Story The Family Tree Our story begins in Greece, many years ago. A baby was born in the city of Athens. Her name was Oakley. Oakley had brown, long hair with big hazel eyes. Her parents adored her. Eighteen years passed by and there was a big riot going on in Athens in protest of Zeus letting Hades capture Persephone. Zeus wanted to teach the citizens of Athens a lesson by sending them terrible storms. Innocent Oakley didn t know about the threats from Zeus, but her parents did. Her parents didn t want Oakley to fear of the storm coming their way, so they didn t tell her. Her parents also didn t want to leave Athens themselves, they knew they didn t have the energy to do so. In result, they had to try and get Oakley to move by herself, without letting her know of the great dangers ahead. Oakley was in her room, sewing a new blanket for her bed. Her mother called for her to come downstairs. So of course, she made her way downstairs and saw her parents sitting on the couch, with a depressed look on their face. What s wrong? said Oakley. Honey, we have some news for you. We are sending you off to Corfu. said her mother. Oakleys face turned red. She seemed like she had smoke coming out of her ears. Are you trying to get rid of me? said Oakley. What did I ever do to you? Nothing, nothing, said her father. This is for your own safety darling. What is going on? I m completely happy here in Athens! You must tell me why you are shipping me off to another city! said

However, after some research I ve found that alcoholism is definitely considered to be an addiction when the person is suffering from depending on alcohol in order to get by (Farrand, 1896). Core Competencies Essay 1.Introduction Planning skills are any skills that allow someone to look ahead and accomplish goals or avoid emotional, financial, physical or social hardship (Thibodeaux, 2017). Especially for the leaders, planning skills let them make and implement right decisions. Planning skills relate to seven areas of core competencies. The first is to set goals. To do this, someone must have a concept of what they want to do or a holistic vision. The next areas of competence are organization, analysis and data collection. Current time utilisation revealed that CFOs spend most of their time on strategic planning, advice and management, and a great deal of time on attracting and retaining skills, coaching and mentoring staff, investor, stakeholder and market liaison and communication, and merger and acquisition activities. CFOs felt that the two most important hard skills for them now and five years down the line, are general business knowledge and trend analysis, and strategic planning skills (D., 2013). In short, there is plenty of evidence to show the trend of focusing on the planning skills of CFOs today and it s time to consider the importance of these skills. They might fear that they will be identified as being the one whom complained and then, as a result, that the young person might be the target of a rebellious staff members emotional response. Conversely, a lot of relatives see how hard the staff are working and feel that they don t want to complain because they sympathise with the difficult job that the carers have to carry out, so they might feel like they are being ungrateful for the care their loved one receives. Spend at least one year in college and go to the NBA, or play overseas in Europe and Asia, play with seasoned veterans, earn a paycheck then go to the NBA? In the year 2006, the NBA and the National Basketball Players Association (NBPA) agreed to a rule that would only allow players that were at least one year removed from high schooland were at least 19 years of age. This rule caused much controversy among fans, players, and league executives. I believe players should spend at least one year in collegebefore declaring for the NBA draft. The first reason a high school basketball prospect should go to college instead of going overseas is because, they would have to adjust to a totally new culture. ESPN s college basketball ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Playing well on a good college team in the tournament could increase your draft stock tremendously. Rather than being a backup on a bad Euroleague team scoring 5 points per game. Take Malachi Richardson for example. Malachi Richardson, a wing for the Syracuse Orange, his team made the tournament, but most thought they would not make it very far. Richardson was not considered a first rounder in the 2016 draft, but after many wins and Richardson leading Syracuse to the Final Four his draft stock skyrocketed and was seen by some to be a potential lottery pick in the draft (lottery is within the first 14 picks). He eventually ended up getting picked at No.22 overall by the Charlotte Hornets. Bottom line is that, going to college can help because then NBA scouts don t have to go to a different country. And the third reason is, if you do not think realistically that you will be drafted, you still have your scholarship and can stay all 4 years and study for a degree. If you are considered a high draft prospect, then fail to live up to expectations, you can then stay more years in college. You can stay more years and improve at basketball for next year s draft. Or you can do both, stay all four years declare for the NBA draft, and get your college degree. This is the best reason to go to college instead of going overseas, because college is a privilege. Not

In the anthology On the Blossoming, Lea Goldberg explores the concept of desire. On the surface, this idea seems well analyzed and discussed. However, by carefully tracking words, symbols, and images across the poems Dialogue , Songs of the Foxes , and Clear Autumn, Goldberg slyly elucidates the ephemeral nature of desire, the dichotomy between actions and emotions, and all the while exposes an over arching narrative. Word choice plays a crucial role in understanding the poem Dialogue. The words love , body , bore , shape , and lips are all used in this short poem. Immediately, this keens the reader into a commentary about love between the two speakers, He and She. The conflict in the poem arises from He being bound to love full of abundance and splendor and She being inhibited, by an immense barrier, to love. She even exclaims how without love, She s blind, and that if this [love] were to occur She d be resurrected. Furthermore, She mentions how currently nothing remains to survive, that her present is banal. The poem thus takes on the form of a warning call about how a romance can only truly come to fruition through requited love. This reciprocation enables a healthy open mind, as opposed to a singular lens of a He or She. The idea of a requited romance and selection of lustful words are not unique to Dialogue , similar motifs and techniques occur throughout
  • 28. Biomechanics Of The Tympanic Membrane Darisha Jhutty April 27, 2015 BIOE 154: Introduction to Biomechanics Professor Norman Biomechanics of the Tympanic Membrane Background: Over the past years, bioengineers have applied different methods for modelling the human ear. The human ear is an intricate biomechanical system with its primary function to sound perception and reception. The ear is divided into 3 main components, each with its own unique functions: the outer ear (pinna), the middle ear, and the inner ear. The outer ear, or the pinna, consists of the auricle, the skin covered cartilage of the ear visible on the outside of the head, as well as the opening to the auditory canal. The middle ear refers the air filled hollow space (tympanic cavity) behind the eardrum or tympanic membrane. The tympanic membrane is a thin, cone shaped membrane that separates the outer ear from the middle ear (Figure 1a). The tympanic membrane is made up of two main parts: the fragile pars flaccida (upper region) and robust the pars tersa (lower region). The pars tersa, composed of three layers: skin, fibrous tissue, and mucus, makes up the majority of the tympanic membrane. The pars flaccida is often associated with eustachian tube malfunctions and choleostomas, whereas the pars tersa is associated with perforations. There are 3 bones, the malleus, incus, and stapes, in the middle ear (Figure 1b) that vibrate when exposed to the vibrations of the sound waves. The malleus is attached to the medial surface of the tympanic

All of which is unbeknown to other characters in the scene. In Act I, Sc iii, when Macbeth is told that he is the Thane of Cawdor, he is ... Comparing this to the first soliloquy in my piece of writing we perceive a tremendous development of his personality and attitude. By keeping wealthy families close to the government in the capital city, Qin was able to keep them under control and reduce their power. Private possession of arms was also made illegal. Moreover, the Qin believed that knowledge should be suppressed in order for the government to be strong. This ideology led to the burning of books, the suppression of scholars, and education provided only to future officials for training purposes. Qin ideology also stated that the emperor and the subjects should have a direct relationship. The First Emperor, believing in direct rule of subjects by the emperor, was extremely determined, toured the country to inspect various regions, and was adamant on not being just a figurehead. Following Qin s precedent, the Han government also focused on strengthening the central government. Similar to the Qin, the Han used the policy of direct rule by emperor of subjects. Unlike the formats that Henri Cartier Bresson used, where each roll of film, or negative slide needed storing in a large physical place, under controlled conditions, an archive of objects. Automation came with digital photography, its combination of digital components allowed the camera to automatically detect light qualities, and
  • 41. Analysis Of The Play After Seeing Mary Stuart I was really looking forward to watching this play after seeing Mary Stuart. I came into the play only knowing that the play was about couples. I liked coming into to the play not really knowing what to expect from the storyline. I thought that the play was going to be about the couples interacting more with one another as opposed to interacting in the individual couples. Since the play is named cul de sac I assumed that there would be more interaction from the cul de sac all together other than the few awkward encounters. I think I thoughtthat the play was missing a climax. I am not sure when the climax or the height of the play was reached. I think that the lack of a climax comes from the vagueness of the character objectives. I... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Johnson character could have been looking for happiness in his job, in his own personal life, or in his marriage. However, the only true happiness seeking action we see him do is chase his wife around the kitchen. I also thought there was a lot going on in the play at that at times it was hard to follow. I felt that there was just a lot going on and a lot of inferences that had to be made, which took away from the actors. I also did not like how it seemed that the scenes with the couples were supposed to be happening simultaneously and it seemed like the day was starting over every time a new couple would take the stage. I wish there was a more fluid way those scenes could have been run where you could see the Joneses dancing while the Smith s were taking the breaks in between the argument. When the Johnson s switched to the stage, I originally thought that it was a new day because at the end of the smith scene they were ordering dinner and the lights seemed dim. It wasn t until Mr. Smith made the comment about making the salmon until I realized it was still that same day, just being shown from a different house. Again I wish there was a way the audience could have at least seen a small portion of the two couples simultaneously just to give the audience an idea of the time frame. Also I felt like half the time I didn t really know what was going on or that I missed something. For example when Mrs. Johnson was so appalled that Mr. Johnson had gotten out of bed
  • 42. Research Paper On Gay Adoption Same sex parents are constantly getting rejected by a variety of adoption agencies because of who they choose to marry. Adopting agencies state that kids growing up in that type of environment would be unhealthy for the development of the child. They fear that the child would end up getting bullied by their peers, other concerning parents, and by the community which they live on. They also fear that the child will end up making the same life choices as their parents. Ultimately, same sex parents should be allowed to adopt for the reasons that: gay parents have the same basic human rights as everyone else, the child would benefit from growing up in a same sex home, and it would reduce the amount of orphans that are in need of a loving family.
  • 43. Are Prozac And Similar Antidepressants Safe And Effective... Are Prozac and similar antidepressants safe and effective for children and adolescents? Approximately ten percent of our youth suffer from a deppresive/anxiety disorder. The youth of our society are being treated with anti depressants such as prozac; which, carry a black box warning. The FDA has required that boxed warnings be placed on all antidepressant medications warning they may result in increased risk of suicidal tendencies in children, and young adults aged 18 24 years old. The black box warning is the highest warning that can labeled on any medication. It means there has been significant research completed to show a legitimate concern for the well being of the population who is prescribed the medication. It is scientifically proven that children s bodies do not absorb and process drugs the same way that a fully grown adult can, and their brains may critically be affected as well. Society, parents, doctors and adolescence themselves are forced to make; what could be, a life changing decision on whether to medicate with the potential for disaster or not medicate and allow the child to continue suffering from a psychological disorder. It is clear that both the risks of medicating and not medicating are suggestively the greatest during the early years of life. The question that arises is whether we should or shouldn t take the risk. A child s response to a medication cannot be determined with one hundred percent certainty. It is very difficult to isolate
  • 44. Roman Religion And The Roman Empire The Roman Empire is one of the most well known countries in recorded history. And this is primarily because it continues to awe people via it s architecture, military, art, philosophy, and technology. But one of the greatest footprints Ancient Rome has left for us to study and admire is its culture. As in any society, culture in the Roman Empirewas of great importance. The Romans had many beliefs, behaviors, and customs, but one of the things that stood out the most in their culture was their religion. Roman religion is no longer in practice (Scheid and Lloyd 1). However, the enthusiasm that it s followers had still exists today. Ever since the time that Roman religion was just the religion of one city in the Mediterranean region (RГјpke 3), people have always been marveled by the interesting and spectacular uniqueness of Rome s religion that has survived throughout the decades of human curiosity. The Roman religion, as most other religions, was based entirely on the gods. Therefore, to understand the Roman religion one has to understand the Roman beliefs concerning the gods. Out of all the gods in the Roman religion, Jupiter was the most important one (Cavazzi). Jupiter was the ruler of the gods and the major god of the Romans, and was known to hold thunderbolts which he could use as a weapon from the sky (Cavazzi). Next to the most respected entity was Juno, or the wife of Jupiter, she was known as the goddess of women and as the goddess of fertility (Cavazzi). A
