TexGen is open source software for modeling textile composites that was developed at the University of Nottingham. It was reimplemented in 2006 as a platform-independent code under an open source license to address limitations of the previous version. Releasing it as open source encouraged its use in research, resulting in over 5,000 downloads and supporting over $1 million in funded projects.

Concept extraction from the web of things (3)

It extracted terms from the ontologies and calculated term frequencies. It then used word embedding and k-means clustering to group related terms and identify popular concept clusters. The clusters were manually analyzed to assign concept names. The study found only low reuse of concepts across ontologies and aims to help standardize IoT vocabulary.

This document discusses a study that analyzed 14 popular Internet of Things (IoT) ontologies to identify commonly used concepts. It extracted terms from the ontologies and calculated term frequencies. It then used word embedding and k-means clustering to group related terms and identify popular concept clusters. The clusters were manually analyzed to assign concept names. The study found only low reuse of concepts across ontologies and aims to help standardize IoT vocabulary.

ViBRANT is a European project that aims to connect people, data, and science related to biodiversity. As part of this project, researchers developed IKey+, a new web service for automatically generating single-access identification keys. IKey+ allows users to submit taxonomic data in the standard SDD format and generates keys with various parameters. It was designed as a freely available open-source tool to help biologists identify specimens. Benchmark tests showed IKey+ can generate a key for 144 taxa in about 1.8 seconds on average.
