Knitting is the method of creating fabric by
transforming a continues strands of yarn into a series of
interlocking loops, each row or such loops hanging by
the one immediately preceding it.
There are two types of knitted fabric:
1) Single jersey knitted fabric.
2)Double jersey knitted fabric.
a)Rib Structure knit fabric
b)Interlock Structure knit fabric
• Plain structure:
• Plain is produced by the needles knitting as a single set drawing the loops away from
technical back and towards the technical face side of the fabric.
• Example:Jersey,lily,Jersey blister, Single lacoste etc.

• The structure which requires 2 sets needle operating in between each other so that
wales of face side and wales back side of the fabric is called rib structure.
Interlock structure: Inter lock is another 1*1 rib variant structure which is
produced on specially designed m/c. these m/c process two sets of needles in
both cylinder and dial and at least two process.
Interlock fabric purl fabric.
Purl structure: The 4th family of knit structures is the purl knit. As with rib
structures, it requires the participation of both needle beds for the production
of the loops. Purl fabric are knitted on machines with special equipment (one
set of needles),which are double-ended latch needles and special devices of
drive them, allowing loops to be intermeshed in two directions.
The circular Interlock machine is a very commonly used machine
in country to make Interlock knitted fabric. Interlock structure is a
double faced Interlock structure which consists of two 1×1
Interlock structures. These two 1×1 Interlock structures are joined
by interlocking sinker loops and thus produce interlock structure.
Interlock structure is produce by special cylinder dial circular
machines. Double system V-bed flat knitting machine also used to
produce interlock structure.

m/c with the help of the guide & tensioner.
With the help of feeder yarn is feed to the
needles of cylinder & dial. Then yarn in fabric
from comes to take down roller & lastly cloth
In Interlock circular knitting machine, The motor
gets power from electricity and motor pulley
connect to m/c pulley with Belts and m/c pulley
also connect to Bevel gear, which is also connect
with cylinder gear as a result cylinder revolves &
Helical gear connect with bevel gear, When
motor revolves, by these pulley & gear, motion
transfer to cylinder & Dial as a result cylinder &

Yarn Package career: yarn package Career contains the yarn cone/packages.
Needle: An element which forms loops and wales.
Tricks: Slots which guide needles during knitting
Cylinder: a cylinder drum which contains slots, needles and sinkers.
Dial: a horizontal plate which contains slots and horizontal needles
Yarn guide: Its guide the yarn from package to Dial/Cylinder.
Dial Cams: Its Helps in the movement of dial needle
Cylinder cams: Its Helps in the movement of Cylinder needle
Oiling: Oiling needs in knitting m/c because of abrasion free movement of needle in cylinder & dial
Sensors: Sensors used in knitting m/c to find out the yarns breakage during knitting process.
Motor: Motor is the top most important parts of knitting m/c. Motor is used to transfer the motion to
cylinder & Dial.
Roller: Rollers are used to take up the fabric.
Belts: Belts are used to connect the pulley to each other.
