Assessing Your Current DesignOps Practice: A Heuristic Model - Dave MaloufWeb à Québec
Many companies are finding that they are being asked to add a DesignOps practice to their existing design organizations. This is great news, because by adding an operational mindset, and putting intentional design to one’s design operations, only better design will happen, which is the point, eh?
But how can I measure and communicate success? How do I even know what success is? How can I prioritize, and roadmap planning, and growth of my DesignOps practice?
In this lecture, I will propose a system that can be easily deployed and even customized so that as a design leader or a DesignOps leader you can show anyone in your company where you are at and where you are going to be working to mature practice and why.
Measuring & Evaluating Your DesignOps PracticeDave Malouf
This premiere version of this talk was given at WAQ in Quebec City on April 10, 2019.
It has a brief introduction to DesignOps and then goes into how to measure and understand value of designOps to the team and business.

UserZoom Webinar: How to Conduct Web Customer Experience BenchmarkingUserZoom
You can't manage what you can't measure, so... How do you actually measure user experience?
In this webinar we covered what, why, and how to conduct website user experience & usability benchmarking. We discussed how to effectively measure the quality of a website's user experience across various competitors, within one industry, across time, using an online quantitative research methodology commonly referred to as "unmoderated remote usability testing."
Alfonso de la Nuez's talk, "How to conduct global UX benchmarking", at BigDesign event, about what, why, and how to conduct website user experience & usability benchmarking.

- How to define clear features amidst complex requirements and business objectives.
- How to establish efficient UX processes across disjointed teams.
When it comes to design, everyone has an opinion! However, during reviews and discussions it’s those with more than an opinion that fair the best. Successful design solutions require a deep understanding of audiences, clear strategy, and good ole data.
In this session you’ll learn:
- common data sources for design,
- how to build a data-informed approach,
- what data-informed design looks like in the wild (aka case studies).
Whether you’re trying to prove a point, make an improvement, or discover something new, data-informed design moves your team from gut-feelings to fact-based decisions.
Business leaders everywhere are looking to data to inform their decision making. Accompanying this demand are misunderstandings of what it takes to transform data into something that can inform a decision. What is the data infrastructure required? In this talk, I'll dispel some of these misunderstandings and discuss what it takes to build good data infrastructure. I'll discuss the components of a good data infrastructure. The best practices and available tools for gathering data, processing it, storing it, analyzing it and communicating the results. The goal is for these components to create a data infrastructure which can evolve from simple reporting to sophisticated insights for decision making.

In this webinar we'll give you the power of data to say "ELMO!" (Enough, let’s move on!) and end the argument once and for all.
We collected this data by conducting 10 moderated and 10 unmoderated remote sessions across six tasks on Patagonia.com, in order to show how moderated and unmoderated remote studies compare in terms of the number and severity of usability issues surfaced.
Register for this upcoming webinar and discover the theoretical and actual strengths and weaknesses of various user research methods to stop the argument before it even begins.

Elevating Tactical DDD Patterns Through Object CalisthenicsDorra BARTAGUIZ
After immersing yourself in the blue book and its red counterpart, attending DDD-focused conferences, and applying tactical patterns, you're left with a crucial question: How do I ensure my design is effective? Tactical patterns within Domain-Driven Design (DDD) serve as guiding principles for creating clear and manageable domain models. However, achieving success with these patterns requires additional guidance. Interestingly, we've observed that a set of constraints initially designed for training purposes remarkably aligns with effective pattern implementation, offering a more ‘mechanical’ approach. Let's explore together how Object Calisthenics can elevate the design of your tactical DDD patterns, offering concrete help for those venturing into DDD for the first time!

A tale of scale & speed: How the US Navy is enabling software delivery from l...sonjaschweigert1
Rapid and secure feature delivery is a goal across every application team and every branch of the DoD. The Navy’s DevSecOps platform, Party Barge, has achieved:
- Reduction in onboarding time from 5 weeks to 1 day
- Improved developer experience and productivity through actionable findings and reduction of false positives
- Maintenance of superior security standards and inherent policy enforcement with Authorization to Operate (ATO)
Development teams can ship efficiently and ensure applications are cyber ready for Navy Authorizing Officials (AOs). In this webinar, Sigma Defense and Anchore will give attendees a look behind the scenes and demo secure pipeline automation and security artifacts that speed up application ATO and time to production.
We will cover:
- How to remove silos in DevSecOps
- How to build efficient development pipeline roles and component templates
- How to deliver security artifacts that matter for ATO’s (SBOMs, vulnerability reports, and policy evidence)
- How to streamline operations with automated policy checks on container images

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).
Speakers:
Bob Boule
Robert Boule is a technology enthusiast with PASSION for technology and making things work along with a knack for helping others understand how things work. He comes with around 20 years of solution engineering experience in application security, software continuous delivery, and SaaS platforms. He is known for his dynamic presentations in CI/CD and application security integrated in software delivery lifecycle.
Gopinath Rebala
Gopinath Rebala is the CTO of OpsMx, where he has overall responsibility for the machine learning and data processing architectures for Secure Software Delivery. Gopi also has a strong connection with our customers, leading design and architecture for strategic implementations. Gopi is a frequent speaker and well-known leader in continuous delivery and integrating security into software delivery.

“Qualitative research is multimethod in focus,
involving an interpretive, naturalistic approach

researchers study things in their natural settings,
attempting to make sense of, or interpret, phenomena
in terms of the meanings people bring to them.”
