This document provides information about a technology workshop for English language teaching. The workshop will be held on Saturday, August 9, 2014 at Teachers College, Columbia University. It will introduce participants to various technology tools for language learning, including Wikis, Twitter, Skype, student blogging, and digital storytelling. Participants will actively engage with different technology tools and learn how to effectively integrate them into ESL or EFL classes.

Participants will be actively engaged as they work with the different technology
tools for language teaching and learning.
The goal of this workshop is to help the participants refine their understanding of,
and skills in, using the Internet for English language teaching. In this 5-hour
workshop, Farah will demonstrate how technology can be integrated effectively
(and painlessly) in an ESL or EFL class. Participants will be introduced to the
concept of multi-literacy skills and a variety of different ways to foster such
skills through technology tools for language learning. Various Social Media and
Web 2.0 (synchronous and asynchronous) tools will be explored with particular
focus on Wikis, Twitter, Skype, student blogging, and digital storytelling
(e.g., VoiceThread). We will also explore the powerful collaboration tools in
Google Apps. Participants will design technology-based and computer-
mediated materials for their target student population.
