Uwe Richter discusses key technology trends in networking including continuous innovation to keep up with bandwidth demands, the shift to cloud computing, security challenges, and the rise of automation and virtualization. Network capacity has increased 1000-fold in 25 years and will need to continuously innovate further to support bandwidth growth from sources like video and IoT. Security also needs new approaches like software-defined secure networks as traditional perimeter-based models are insufficient. Automation and orchestration will be required to manage vast numbers of devices and workloads across cloud infrastructure.
