The film Fast Girls is about a British female sprint relay team who win gold at the Olympics against all odds. The original idea came from producer Damian Jones who was fascinated by athletics competitions. Three production companies helped produce the film- Aegis Film Fund, Ealing Metro International, and DJ Films. The film was distributed by Studio Canal and released in June 2012 in the UK to capitalize on enthusiasm for the Olympics happening that summer in London. The film received positive reviews from critics and audiences.
