BBFC Certificate
Age 12
Our audience will be people aged 12+ however most likely be people aged 16-18 which is what our
survey showed.
Out film contains nothing which would not be suitable for children aged 12 however the subject matter is
mature and may be difficult to understand.
Audience feedback
Audience Gender
male female
This suggests that the majority of our
audience would be female and in the age
group 16-18.
Responses:
‘An equalist’
‘I am keen that everyone should vote’
‘Don’t agree with extreme feminism- just
think we should be considered equals even
when it isn't advantageous to women’
From these results it is clear that roughly
half of our audience would identify
themselves as a feminist, whilst a few say
they aren’t feminist but think equality is
important.
From this it is clear that the majority of our
audience clearly understood the genre of our
production ‘Because of them’.
These results show that 30% of our audience enjoy dramas.
Therefore suggesting ‘Because of them’ would be a film they
would enjoy seeing.
This question helped us determine what kind of secondary audience we would have. 35% of
people said that they would watch ‘Because of them’ with their mother, only 5% would go
to see ‘Because of them’ with their father or son.
10% would go with their wife. 3/10 people said they would go with a friend. This
information suggests to us that the majority of our secondary audience would likely also be
female with a few males.
40% of our audience said that the
character choice stood out the most to
them. 35% said it was the setting that
stood out to them and 35% said that the
music stood out to them the most.
70% of our audience believe that
everyone should vote. 15% said that it is
especially important for women to vote.
This suggest that our audience will be
people who believe in the importance of
our right to vote and the suffragette
movement.
What did you like about the ‘Because of
them’ film opening?
‘I liked the switch between past and present’
‘ I liked the black and white colour correction.’
‘The expression of two different times by the BW and colour images, the music made the suspense,
what is happening next! The two female characters were clearly juggling difficult lives.’
‘The background music and black and white.’
‘Good choice of music, great costume design. Well edited and filmed.’
‘Old house and photos setting the scene.’
‘Very atmospheric’
‘The start got my attention.’
‘It was quote moving in a way and very clear what sort of film it was for. I liked the fact you hat the
old compared to the new sections.’
‘Merging of past and present cultures- was done very effectively.’
