The document discusses the various technologies used during the three stages of creating a film opening: planning and research, construction, and evaluation.
During planning and research, websites like IMDb, Box Office, and YouTube were used to find inspiration and examples from other films. Construction involved learning software like Movie Studio Platinum for editing and Photoshop for titles. Various websites were also used for the evaluation stage, including Prezi, Slideshare, Word, and PowerPoint.
Overall, creating the film opening required learning to use many multimedia tools like IMDb, YouTube, Photoshop, and Movie Studio Platinum, which provided valuable experience that can be applied to other subjects and future projects.

Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

1. Question 6
What have you learnt about technologies from the
process of constructing this product?
2. 3 stages of production
When creating our media product, there were 3 stages which included
Planning and Research
Construction
Evaluation
In this presentation, I will be discussing each technology I used to help me with each
stage of the process of creating a film opening.
3. Planning & Research
When planning our opening, we used different websites such as IMDb and Box Office
to find out more about our genre. Whether it is a popular genre and what ratings
different films had so we could get some inspiration. We also used YouTube which let
us watch other AS Media products so we could see what ideas they had and if it
worked and was a success.
These websites were easy to use, especially YouTube as I know how it works due to me
using it before we started our film opening. However, it was sometimes
temperamental due to some videos that we needed didn’t load so we had to find
alternatives.
4. Construction
At the beginning of the construction, we had to learn a variety of both hardware and
software. This includes the camera to film, the microphone and Movie Studio Platinum
so we could edit. As well as Photoshop to create our titles.
When first using these different types of software, I found it quite hard but because I
used Movie Studio Platinum to edit our preliminary task, I got used to using it due to
having used it previously. This was so we could take each shot we filmed and fit them
together to make it more effective. It was quite time-consuming and looked difficult
but I learnt that taking time on it would make it look much better. When using
Photoshop, I also found this quite difficult due to me not using it before however it
was pretty straight forward once you created one or two titles. As I was allocated to
create the titles for our opening, it gave me a chance to understand different effects
and techniques to use.
5. Photoshop
Using Photoshop allowed us to create titles for our film opening. We were able to
move them around to where we wanted them to be and we could also change the
fonts, size and add different effects such as a shadow to make it more creative and
unique. You can change anything to make it fit your genre which is what you want.
These are some of our titles we created for our film opening. We learnt how to change
the style of the text to what you want to again, fit your genre.
6. Movie Studio Platinum
We used Movie Studio Platinum to edit the footage we filmed for our opening.
This software is a quick, effective way to edit our work and make it look good when it
is completed also. When using Movie Studio Platinum, you can add filters and change
the lighting of the shots so it all looks the same and not odd with different lightings. I
also learnt how add and edit the sound of the shots. You can make it so it is quieter or
louder and you can add pieces of non-diegetic and diegetic sound to make it more
effective. Although I did learn that some sounds cannot be used due to copyright
reasons.
7. Evaluation
When all the previous stages have been completed, evaluating your work was a crucial stage in the course.
Therefore a lot of websites were used to be able to do this, such as:
Prezi
Slideshare
Word
PowerPoint Presentation
Blogger
E-maze
Youtube
Using these on a regular basis meant that I learnt a lot of from them and how to use them more which was
very useful. By knowing all these different types of software to use for evaluations, I used different ones for
different evaluation questions. For example, I used a Prezi for question 1 and a E-maze for question 4.
Using different ones made my work look much more professional than just having them on blank word
documents. As YouTube is listed, I used this to take screenshots from our TA Interviews, Preliminary Task
and our final product to use for different evaluation questions. I found all these websites very straight
forward and easy to use. As I have used Word, YouTube and PowerPoint before, I had no worries about it.
My main concern was with all the other sites but when using them regularly meant that I could learn more
each time I used them which then expanded my knowledge.
8. Conclusion
In stages of planning & research, construction and evaluation, I used a variety of
multimedia such as:
IMBd, YouTube, Blogger, Movie Studio Platinum, E-maze, Box office, Prezi,
Photoshop and Slideshare.
All of which helped me understand how different sites work which is very useful and
good to know. Therefore it has let me gain knowledge and able to use them for
perhaps other subjects and definitely in the next year in Media.
