Technology Essay
Crafting an essay on the broad and ever-evolving subject of technology is undeniably
challenging. The difficulty lies in the vast scope of the topic, as technology encompasses a
myriad of aspects ranging from historical developments to current innovations, ethical
considerations, societal impacts, and predictions for the future.
Firstly, navigating through the historical evolution of technology demands a comprehensive
understanding of pivotal inventions and their implications. From the wheel to the internet,
tracing this intricate timeline requires meticulous research and the ability to discern significant
milestones.
Moving forward, discussing current technological trends involves staying abreast of the latest
advancements, which often change rapidly. The challenge here lies in the need for updated and
relevant information, as well as the ability to analyze and present these trends in a coherent and
engaging manner.
Addressing ethical concerns related to technology adds another layer of complexity. Delving
into topics such as privacy, cybersecurity, and the ethical implications of artificial intelligence
requires a nuanced understanding of both technology and moral philosophy.
Furthermore, exploring the societal impact of technology involves examining its influence on
communication, education, healthcare, and various other sectors. Drawing connections between
technological advancements and their real-world consequences necessitates a critical and
interdisciplinary approach.
Predicting the future of technology is an additional challenge, as it involves synthesizing
information from diverse fields and considering potential trajectories. This requires a blend of
foresight, research skills, and the ability to extrapolate current trends into future scenarios.
In conclusion, writing an essay on technology demands not only a deep understanding of the
subject matter but also the ability to synthesize information from diverse sources and present it
in a cohesive and compelling manner. It is a task that requires both analytical and creative
thinking, making it a formidable undertaking.
If you find yourself struggling with such assignments, it's worth considering external assistance.

Understanding Pro Social Behaviour Among Humans (
Cikara )
The ability for an individual to recognize another s suffering and experience the
same emotions to some extent is common in order to promote pro social behaviour
among humans (Cikara, Bruneau, Van Bavel, Saxe, 2014). This ability to empathize
with others begins early on and is motivated by the need to alleviate the distress in
another when they are suffering. As noted by de Waal (2008), empathyoccurs quickly
and automatically as a way to respond to the emotional states of others, in turn being
a major part of social interactions, coordinated activity, and cooperation toward shared
goals. Thus, de Waal (2008) discusses the three different levels of empathy, among
which are emotional contagion, sympathetic concern, and empathic perspective
taking. Firstly, emotional contagion is simply about automatic sharing as the
individual takes on the emotional state of another even without any understanding of
the other (de Waal, 2008). Next, de Waal (2008) suggests sympathetic concern is
when an individual attempts to understand and reduce distress in the other (i.e.
comforting behaviour), as there is knowledge that the response is about the other.
Lastly, empathic perspective taking occurs when an individual is dependent on
imagination and mental state attribution as it is entirely about the other and separate
from the self (de Waal, 2008).
There is much research done to suggest that there are failures in peoples ability to
empathize (Cikara et al. 2014; Brown, Bradley, Lang,
Claudia Gordon Research Paper
Claudia Gordon, the first deaf woman with African decent to be an attorney in the
United States was an important figure head. To talk about her, however, we have to
look deeper, towards some of her actions. She was born in Jamaica to a mother whose
education was as limited as a 13 year old s. Due to her poor education, her motherhad
to work as a house servant, along with taking care of laundry, both for money
Claudia s mother could use to support Claudia and her 2 siblings. To make a better
life for her family, she moved to the Bronx and left her kids with her oldest sister, a
schoolteacher named Mildred Taylor. Sadly, Claudia contracted otitus media, a
painful infection of the ear and had to be taken to the local clinic. With no doctors
on duty, the nurses had to make do with their own limited knowledge, which
resulted in Claudia not getting antibiotics for her infection, which causes her to
lose her hearing and part of herself in a matter of hours. Her life changed so rapidly,
going from outgoing to a shut in, laughed at due to her iniquities. Not wanted to
deal with the frustrations of public school, she decided to go to Lexington School

What Is The Timeline Of Renegotiations For The NFL CBA
I think first and foremost we must establish the timeline of renegotiations for the
NFL CBA. In the light of the current NFL landscape I believe it is in the best
interest of the NFL owner s and the players to establish good faith in these
negotiations, in order to do that I believe we should open negotiations at the end of
the 2017 season. The reason the NBA and MLB were able to renew their respective
CBA s smoothly was because the relationships between the playersand owners is
strong and both understand that working together will help both parties. The NFL
does not have that luxury right now and we at the NFL must work to improve those
relationships to make the game better for the owners, players and fans. By opening
negotiations now we... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The pie should be split more in favor of the players as there are only 32 owners but
there are 1,696 players who are on active rosters each week. So the players split their
portion of the revenues with more people and they need a large slice in order to give
each and every player a taste of the billion dollar business that the NFL is.
b.There needs to be a change in how disciple is handed down
i.One of the largest issues for the players is that Goodell has to much power. The
players want their to be a more transparent process in how fines and suspensions
are handed down ii. I believe the NFL should create a position (If they have not
already) that is responsible for all fines and suspensions. This could be Goodell,
but if the player appeals the suspension or fine then the NFL should create a three
person panel that will hear the appeal. The panel will consist of a member of the
league, NFLPA, and an independent arbitrator. iii. This will create a more fair and
honest process for both the players and owners in the long run
c.A review of the drug protocol
i.The NFL players have been outspoken about the use of medical marijuana and how
the affects of this drug could help them recover better in the offseason. ii. I believe
there has been enough medical evidence that this should be a topic discussed in the
next CBA iii. Marijuana should be a legal drug during the offseason, but I think
Imagination In Dante Alighieri s The Inferno Analysis
When you think of Hell, what do you see, perhaps a burning pit full of criminals
and crazed souls? Or maybe you re like Dante and have a well organized system of
levels in correspondence with each person s sins. In Dante Alighieri s epic The
Inferno, Dante and his real life hero, Virgil, go on an adventure through a rather
elaborate version of Hell. In this version of Hell numerous thoughts and ideals are
brought to the attention of the readers. Through Dante s use of both imaginative and
artistic concepts one can receive a great visual impression of how Dante truly views
Hell, and by analyzing his religious and philosophical concepts the reader can
connect with the work to better understand how rewarding this work was for the time
period.
Imagination is defined as, the act or power of forming a mental image of something
not present to the senses or never before wholly perceived by reality (Merriam
Webster). In The InfernoHell is just that, a creation of Dante s imagination. By
reading the epic a mental image of Hell is formed, but it can be viewed in various
ways due to Hell never being wholly perceived by reality. The whole novel is never
seen as less than real, but many of the events that occur are not life like. Having
suicidal souls trapped in trees with Harpies eating them until they bleed is far from
reality (Alighieri, 101). With an example of Dante s imagination comes the concepts
of art.
The words creative imagination are in the definition of art. Therefore,
The Independence Of The Judiciary
Introduction
The independence of the judiciary is based on the doctrine of separation of powers
which talks about the separation of power between the legislature, executive and the
judiciary which means that function of judicial system of country should be
independent from the executive, the legislature and from political pressure of
country. Originating in the writings of the French philosopher Montesquieu and the
American statesmen Madison , the notion of separation of powers stems from the
belief that the best way to control government power is to divide it among the various
branches of government the legislative, executive and judicial branches (Motala,
1995: 506). The three branches of government must be functionally separate and
refrain from interfering with the functions of one another. TAs per the doctrine of
separation of power all the three Executive, Legislation, and Judiciary should work
independently and should not encroach on function of each other. Judiciary should
be free from the influence of the executive so that justice can be provided to the
aggrieved parties. Executive should not interfere or exercise con¬trol over the
working of courts.
Independence of the Judiciary is the sine qua non of democracy. The purpose of
democracy is not served merely by getting laws enacted by democratically constituted
bodies. Machinery for the just interpretation of laws thus enacted is exceedingly
necessary. An independent judiciary alone can fulfill this task. With

Literature Review Of Sex Offender And Sexual Offences
Chapter 1 Literature Review 1.1Definition: Sex offender and Sexual offence A sex
offender is an individual convicted of a sex crime including such offences as rape,
sexual assault, offences related to prostitution, or against children, severe
pornography and the ownership and circulation of offensive images (The Crown

Through its cognitive behavioural approach, offenders are encouraged to develop
significant life goals and change cognitive and behavioural patterns to reduce the risk
of re offending once re integrated into the community (HM Prison Probation Service,

community have lower sexual reconviction rates compared to those who do not
receive treatment, which concurs with findings from an exploratory investigation of
twenty six research studies which showed a 27% reduction in sexual offending for
sex offenders receiving treatment (Schmucker Losel, 2009). Circles of Support and
Accountability schemes also operate throughout the country and work together with
sex offenders to help minimise isolation and support re integration back into the

We fully appreciate the great responsibility resting upon us. There has been no

The Tokyo trials lasted two and a half years, from May 1946 to November 1948.
Other war criminals were tried in the respective victim countries. Lastly, the war
crime trials were held at ten different locations in China.
The International Military Tribunal for the Far East (IMTFE) consisted of a large
variety of different persons representing different countries. The Tribunal s sheer
size and complexity is an example of an un needed redundancy that among today s
standards is unfathomable. When compared to its counterpart at Nuremberg, one
can determine the seemingly comprehensive and complete proceedings as oddly
overbearing. The Tokyo Trials lasted three times longer than the Trial of the Major
German War Criminals. It involved at least 230 translators and 237 Prosecution
and Defense lawyers. The hypocritical aspects involve the methods and procedures
in which the IMTFE operated. It was established in order to prosecute war
criminals, allowing for the justice system to take on its role. Yet the IMTFE has set
its own rules and standards, decided what evidence , however crucial, may or may
not be entered as exhibits. The lack of a complete and fair trial existed not only in

Reduction of the peak flows
This adaptation option aims at reducing the flood hazard through a reduction and a
delaying of peak flows during extreme events. Peak reduction is achieved by setting
up areas within aside the river network that can be flooded in a controlled manner
when the river stage reaches critical levels. In addition, peak flows are reduced by
reservoirs, sustainable urban drainage systems (SUDS, Pasche et al., 2008), retarding
basins, infiltration basins, and through targeted land management plans such as
afforestation and river restoration (Reinhardt et al., 2011).

Fa Mu Lan No Name Woman
The No Name Woman is a failure in Chinese society, but starkly contrasted by the
success and fulfillment of traditional expectations demonstrated in the woman
warrior, Fa Mu Lan. In the second section of Kingston s account, White Tiger, the
author controversially develops her own retelling of this famous myth with
herself as the legendary Chinese figure. Kingston initiates this section stating,
when we Chinese girls listened to the adults talk story, we learned that we failed if
we grew up to be but wives or slaves (Kingston 19). The words of her elders
engrained in Kingston and her female peers their place of women, enslaved to their
husbands and bound to housework. Yet Kingston does not accept this reality and
instead plunges into a powerful tale of a female who not only overcomes gender
roles but is the champion of the entire Chinese nation. Fa Mu Lan is a swordswoman,
who utilizes her physical and magical training to cause social justice. Despite her
occupations with valor and justice, however, Kingston s character also finds time to
nurture a child and attend the domestic duties traditionally assigned to women, a
challenge to ancient stereotypes and an affirmation of modern ideas of women
balancing families with their careers. Similarly, the weapons Kingston yields are her
words and the truth of her experience she artfully relates.

This emotional struggle is proven when the waiter says that the old man has
attempted to commit suicide. There is also a similar emotional struggle with the older
waiter who is dealing with loneliness and despair. This is shown throughout the story
as he continuously talks about the bare nothingness he has experienced.
6. There are three unnamed main characters in the story, the older waiter, the
younger waiter, and the deaf, old man. Through being introduced to these
characters and their personalities, we learn the similarities between the old man and
the older waiter, and the differences between the younger waiter and the two older
men. As the story unfolds we learn the internal struggle of unhappiness and
loneliness of the old man and older waiter. We also learn the impatience and
eagerness of the younger waiter. The main personality trait for the old man would
be sadness or depression because of his attempted suicide and desire to stay up late
and drink at the cafe. The main personality trait for the older waiter would be
loneliness because of his view on nothingness and the despair the comes with it. The
main personality trait for the younger waiter would be impatience because of his
outlook on the old man staying late on the cafe and his eagerness to return home to
his wife.

meaning. The main theme of the story is the condition of nothingness in the world and

P-type ATPases Essay
Describe the mechanism of P type ATPases; select one P type ATPase and examine
how its physiological role has been investigated.
The P type ATPases are a large family of membrane enzymes, with 476 different
subtypes categorised in the Swiss Prot protein information database. The P type or
E1 E2 ATPases were first discovered and categorised by Jens Christian Skou, a
Danish physician turned physiologist in 1957. Skou discovered the Na+/K+ ATPase,
and later shared half of the 1997 Nobel Prize for Chemistry in reward for his work
(Skou 1997).
As mentioned above, the P type ATPases have a broad range of interventions, for
example, the use of the Digitalis toxin in the treatment of heart failure (Rang et al.
2007). There are 5 broad ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
2 K+ ions then bind to their high affinity binding sites, and the enzyme is
dephosphorylated. This reduces the ATPase s K+ affinity, causing the release of K+
into the cell (Lehninger et al. 2000). It is the above process that is responsible for
approximately 25% of the bodies daily ATP breakdown and consequent energy usage
(Lehninger et al. 2000). The sodium and potassium ions, and the large concentration
gradients that exist, consist a vital physiological feature of the cell, and one that is
implicated in myriad cellular processes.
The main cellular process, as mentioned above, for which the Na/K ATPase is
responsible, is the maintenance of a membrane potential via the movements of its
bonding ions. It is the maintenance, and the presence of this potential that allow the
existence of the cell. The presence of a pre existing potential allows transport of
glucose and other molecules, such as Cl ions via the mechanism of secondary active
transport, harnessing the Na+ gradient into the cell caused by ATP breakdown (Skou
2004).
The P type ATPase is also important in the process of muscle contraction. The
sarcoplasmic reticulum Ca2+ ATPase (SERCA) constitutes 80% of the protein
content of the sarcoplasmic reticulum. The process of muscle contraction is

(find quote off the internet). With the way the system is set up, its getting these
youths ready to fail again. Most kids that go through the Juvenile Justice System
are more likely to go through the system again and then into the adult prisons. The
Juvenile System has become a preparation for prison. There is no reform, only
punishment, making these kids tougher and more prepared to further their career in
illegal activities that are much worse than those that have landed them in the
system in the first place. Time magazine reported in 2009 that detention centers
often increase bad behavior once incarcerated youths are released, a trend that
follows them into adulthood. The article states that those who ended up being
sentenced to juvenile prison were 37 times more likely to be arrested again as
adults (Surman 2017). Once in the system there is a much greater chance you will
enter the system again. These systems are flawed and must be changed in order to
change these kids ways of thinking toward life. These systems are not correcting or
rehabilitating any of the unlucky youths that end up in there. They are now just
getting prepared for further depth into criminal activities. Once changes are made to
place more programs to help these kids succeed in society we will see these numbers
decrease.
The United States And The Native Americans Essay
The United States and the Native Americans have a rich historical background.
Though on the surface it is filled with hatred and injustice, there are a lot more
complex interactions once thoroughly examined. The U.S, once a colony of the
Europeans, eventually grew into the strong standing nation that it is today.
Meanwhile the original inhabitants, the Native Americans, often received the
aggression and oppression of this growing nation, but they weren t the savages the
U.S. claimed them to be. In fact, the IroquoisConfederacy was the main influence of
the U.S Constitution. This paper will discuss the differences as well as the
similarities, which are thought to be controversial, between these two historical
documents.
The difference between the two groups has been very apparent for the hundreds of
years they cohabited. For the Native Americans everything about the American
culture clashed greatly with their own beliefs and systems within their own
community. An example would be how their community was mainly led by the idea
of equality and a voice for everyone, no matter how young or old. According to
Grinde s analysis, Iroquois political philosophy was transmitted through the social
education of the young and power [was] equally distributed male and female, young
and old [rather] than in European American society (236). The Iroquois also placed a
tremendous amount of importance in teaching the younger people about politics so
they had enough education to be able to
Taco Bell Vs Disneyland Case Study
Reflecting on my past few years in the food industry, I have realized I have been
hired on as an employee for various companies including well known large
companies and smaller mom and pop facilities. Even though it is typically
expected that each job differs from the last, one usually believes two jobs in the
same field, such as cashiering in a fast paced restaurant will have the same basis of
rules. However, when comparing a cashiering position at Taco Bell, to a cashiering
position at Disneyland, one will discover there are many more differences than
similarities. To begin, Taco Bell does not have any special vocabulary. A cashier is
called a cashier and customers are called customers. Disneyland on the other hand,
refers to employees as cast members, and customers as guests. Cast members are
required to learn other Disneyland vocabulary, or backstage lingo. To begin with,
backstage refers to the employee only areas, and on stage refers to the area where
Disneyland guests pay to visit. When walking on stage , every cast member needs
to be in full costume, or show ready . The application and interview process for
Taco Bell and Disneyland were the same, I applied online, and within a week
received notice of a scheduled interview time. The interview process was simple, I
went in, was asked questions regarding my availability and my ability to work
independently and with others. Disneyland asked me other questions such as Why
did I want to be a part of the Disney

human rights to which refugees are entitled wherever they are (Dauvergne, 2012, p.
1445). Refugees are talked about and handled in certain ways within different
discourses. Foucault s defines discourseas the rules and practices that produce
meaningful statements about a topic at a particular historical moment. He argues
that it constricts the topic . (Hall, 1997, p.44). This essay will analyse the
representation of refugees through a political and media discourse. A political
discourse on refugees is explored in Rocco Fazzari and Denis Carnahan s video
Stop the Boats (with cash) Tony . The video highlights the political language for
talking about refugees and the ways in which they are viewed by the Australian
government. In comparison the media discourse will be examined through Nilufer
Demir s (2015) photograph of a drowned Syrian child refugee. The image stresses the
pivotal role the media plays in constructing and circulating meanings (Hightower,
2014, p.336). By analysing refugees through these two texts, an understanding of the
different representation and meanings produced by separate discourses on the same
topic can be developed.
A political discourse allows the government s policies on refugees and the

consequences. The judge even attributed the start of the Korean war to their

Leopold Mozart Essay
Leopold Mozart
The rain poured down hard, flooding the suburban streets of Vienna. Thunder roared
all around the funeral procession on December 6,
1791, as it laboriously headed for St. Marx Cemetery. As it reached the city walls of
Vienna, the few friends who had accompanied Mozart on his last journey turned
back, due to the unusually bad weather conditions. Such a scene is sadly appropriate
in representing the tragic end of Mozart who had begun his life with such
immeasurable promise. On
January 27, 1756, Leopold Mozart paced up and down the hall of his home in
Salzburg, Austria, in anticipation of the arrival of his seventh child. His wife, Anna
Maria, had given birth to a boy: Wolfgang. Wolfgang and his only other... Show more

After three years of monotony with an occasional commission, the twenty year old
musician had no more to hope for from life in the provinces and reached the
decision: he would leave Salzburg. Mozart felt he could breathe again as he set off
from Salzburg sure that his genius was about to be acknowledged by the world at
large. In 1777, Mozart traveled with his mother to
Mannheim, where he remained and composed, ignoring the looming financial
problems he was facing. In the meantime, he had fallen madly in love with the young
singer Aloysia
Weber. Leopold was aghast, Aloysia was the daughter of a lowly copyist and member
of the chorus at the court theater, this match seemed disastrous. Mozart s father
resorted to emotional blackmail to get him out of Mannheim and into
Paris where he could take on pupils. It seems that Mozart did pay heed and set off
with his mother for Paris on March
13, 1778. In Paris, everything seemed to be going well until
Anna Maria was struck down by a fever and fell into a coma. Her death on July 3rd
left Mozart grieving and in isolation. He reluctantly returned to Salzburg full of
dread, and was greeted by his father with these words: If your mother had come
back home from Mannheim, she would not have died... You would have got to Paris
at a better time... and my poor wife would still be (alive) in Salzburg.

Medieval Oppression Of Women
Over the medieval period oppression of women has been a problem and has not
been solved up to now. Various movements have taken place against these dilemmas
but they still exist in our nation and while they prevail they ve given an upswing to
problems and instances of obnoxious behavior.
Women have been unjustly held back from achieving full equality for much of
human history. In the novel The Palace of Illusions , Princess Panchali said He
was always trying to discourage me from attending Dhri s lessons and he wasn t the
only one. At first, no matter how much I begged, King Drupad had balked at the
thought of me studying with my brother. A girl being taught what a boy was
supposed to learn? Such a thing had never been heard of in the royal family of
Panchal! Dhai Ma denied Panchali of accessing the lessons that Dhri was learning as
she believed that they were making her argumentative and too manlike in her speech.
Practices followed during the medieval period showed us the predominant injustice of
our times is the widespread, tyrannical oppression of women. The feudal society of
the time encouraged Sati which meant self immolation of the widow. By burning
herself on the pyre of her husband, she proves her loyalty. Even the child widows
were not spared from this gruesome ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many women face discrimination throughout all stages of their life, beginning at (or
even before) birth continuing as an infant, child, adolescent, and adult. While in the
educated, urban middle class women s rights continue to improve, there remains a
strong bias against gender equality in those societal parts of India, where patriarchal
traditions prevail; her self image was torn into shreds by the patriarchal family which
denied her basic freedom. Indian womanhood was mercilessly locked in the echo
Stereotypes About Skinny
Stereotypes About Skinny People Many people assume that the only reason
people are skinny is because they want to look better or they starve themselves.
Others consider them to be healthier than others. That there is a stereotype, a
stereotype is when something is said about a group of people that is based on
some truth, but it is exaggerated. Maybe there was a time when that was true, but
now there are other reasons to why people are skinny. People all over the world are
constantly labeling and/or judging other people based on appearances. But they don
t stop there they also have to judge how one speaks, walks, or acts and assume that if
someone shares similar qualities as someone else they label them and fit them in
small groups. The reason... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I personally have not experienced this type of stereotype, but I do know someone very
close to me who has and still is going through it.. Yuliza Chavez, a freshman in high
school, has agreed to being interviewed and the first thing I asked her was if she
knew what stereotypes were and she said that she didn t so then I explained to her
what it was. Then I asked her, Can you tell a stereotype that you may have
experienced? Yuliza, When people tell me that anorexia is not a disease and that I
just choose not to eat. Even though she has told many people about her eating
disorder they don t believe her or choose not to. Another thing that people tell her
is that the only reason she s skinny is so that she can be pretty and be like all the
other pretty girls. Because of her eating disorder she finds that being skinny makes
her unhappy because she has to constantly check how many calories and fat food
contains and she can t really enjoy eating. Another thing that affects her is that at
least every morning, afternoon, or at night she says that she has to check her weight
or she won t be satisfied with herself the good thing is that she has family to help and

Appalachian Mountains And Appalachians
Appalachians
The Appalachian Mountains region is roughly 360,000 km squared, taking up about
3.6 percent of Canada s land surface. This region locates itself on the islands of
Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and a bit of Quebec, with
Moncton and Halifax as some of its major cities. The rocks, most of which are mostly
sedimentary, were changed drastically when Europe and North America collided,
causing its geography to be uneven, with many jagged peaks. Forestry, agriculture,
fishing, tourism, coal mining, logging, and manufacturing are their main
industries.Their overall population lands at a bit more than 25 million. Some
interesting facts are that they have the oldest mountains and the richest fishing.
Canadian Shield Despite covering 5 million km squared of land (over 50 percent) it
does not have ideal soil for crops while having the richest area for mining. The
Canadian Shield occupies most of Quebec, much of Ontario, Nunavut, Saskatchewan,
and the Northwest Territories and a small portion of Alberta. Some of the jobs in this
area of only 7 million are lumbering, mining, and manufacturing. Their land contains
mostly igneous and metamorphic rock plus many minerals (gold, nickel, lead,
copper, zinc,). When the tectonic plates collided the mountains, later eroded to
flatland or rounded hills. Its geography also contains rivers and lakes from glaciers.
Some of their largest cities are Montreal and Kugluktuk.

Research Paper On Lawn Mower
The annual tradition of pulling your lawn mower out of winter storage should
include a new ritual: taking it to your local servicing dealer for an annual tune up.
To many, the idea seems unnecessary. Why have a professional do it when you can
do it yourself? After all, there are plenty of do it yourself shows out there that show
you how to sharpen a mowerblade or change out a spark plug. Unfortunately, what
these shows fail to tell you is that your mower needs much more care than that, and
you could be risking serious injury by working on a mower yourself. Walk behind

While an electric lawn mower is one way to reduce your gasoline consumption, a
push reel mower is really the best alternative of all. Most of us remember pushing a
reel lawnmower as a kid. Those heavy old machines took some real effort to push
and resulted in both splinters in our hands and a pretty raggedy looking turf.
Unlike those heavy old push mowers our grandparent s used to own, today s
modern push reel mowers are so much easier to use. These newer styled models are
lightweight, easy to push, and do a superior job of cutting the grass. The many
benefits of using a reel mower as opposed to a gas powered lawn mower may
surprise you. Here are just a few benefits our family discovered in over seven years
of using a Scotts Classic Push Reel Mower. 1. For green gardeners, a push reel
mower is the most environmentally friendly way to mow a lawn. Push mowers
don t use gas, oil, and spark plugs, nor produce exhaust to pollute the air. 2. Lack of
a motorized engine also means less maintenance is required to keep the push
mower running. After mowing, we brush off the blades of our reel mower to
remove grass and dirt particles, and then lube the bearings and cutting edge with a
little WD 40. Mower maintenance doesn t get much easier than that! 3. Unlike a
gas model which can take up a whole corner of the garage, a push mower takes very
little room since it can be hung up by the handles from a wall. Compact storage is
a definite plus for people with limited space. 4. Because the blades are pushed
manually, a reel mower is a much safer machine for children to use. When my (then)
11 year old daughter started cutting the neighbor s lawn for spending money, we felt
perfectly comfortable letting her use the push mower, knowing that she won t be able
to accidentally hurt herself. 5. One

Essay On Roanoke Colony
The Lost Colony of Roanoke
Everyone loves a good mystery, especially one that no one can solve. It gives one
satisfaction to imagine that they can decipher it and become a hero, and it s even
more intriguing when it has lasted a few years. Some missing cases have even
lasted several decades, but none have persisted as long as a case of a certain lost

of The Lost Colonists of Roanoke Island has remained for over 400 years (History),
and it continues to baffle historians, investigators, and archeologists alike.
Preceding Events Besides the doomed colony, England had previous failures on

Bigger Thomas And Invisible Man
In the twentieth century, Monk encountered different kind of racial invisibility
than Bigger Thomas or Invisible Man did. As an African American he was not
condemned for his skin, nor was he denied rights white folks had. Thelonious
Ellison was acknowledged as an African American citizen and enjoyed the rights of
equality and freedom. Nevertheless, the stereotypical blind thinking and
associations to a black man, have come to light when Monk being a black writer
became invisible to the society when he did not write about typical black life .

As it was in the case of Bigger Thomas or Invisible Man, they both struggled to find
equality in American society. They fought to be recognized as something more than a
nigger . Nearly 70 years later, Monk an African Americanwriter found himself on
very similar grounds. He too was struggling to be heard and appreciated for what
he did rather than be judged by his skin color. We see that our three protagonists
lead three different lives. We notice that their situations are slightly better as the
years pass. Bigger Thomas in 1930 was not as lucky as we could say Invisible
Man, in 1950, was. He could not go to school; he was unable to see perspectives for
himself. He was reminded of his inferiority everywhere he went, he lived separated
from the white world and was dependent on the goodwill of rich white men.
Invisible Man though did not succeed the way Monk did. Living twenty years after
Thomas, the narrator stood better chances for a decent living, however, it was still
impossible for him to enjoy freedom and equality. In comparison to the previous
two, we can say, Monk was in the best social position. He was highly educated, did
what he liked and desired all his life being a writer, he had got the acceptance as an
African American in the society. In 2001, he was living the life Bigger Thomas and
Invisible Man had dreamed about. What bounded our
The Contributions Of Death In Dante s Inferno
In the Inferno, Dante journeys along the path that will eventually lead him to God by
first passing through Hell. As he goes through his journey in Hell with Virgil, Dante
encounters several sinners who are being punished based upon the sins each
individual committed. Dante s attitude towards the sinners punishment changes from
sympathy to hostility as he goes through his path towards God. At first, Dante is to
feeling sympathy for the souls that reside in the Second Circle of Hell, whose
punishment is to be constantly blown by wind. These sinners are punished
specifically for lust. Many individual souls are named by Virgil, but Dante starts to
show signs of sympathy when Francesca voluntarily steps forward to explain her love

I agree with Poggiolo s statement involving sympathy for Francesca because this
means that even though Dante feels sympathy for both Francesca and Paolo, it
does not erase the fact that they did commit the sin of adultery. Dante can feel
sorry for their situation, but there is no way he can forgive them of the sin they
committed. God did put them there so no matter how much pity Dante feels for
them there is nothing he could do about their punishment in Hell. As Dante travel
deeper along Hell, he needs to become stronger to complete his journey. In the
beginning of his journey, he encounters sinners who did not commit a sin as bad as
the sinners in the Ninth Circle of Hell. That is why he feels sympathetic to
Francesca and Paolo, who is in the Second Circle of Hell. Now that he is at the last
Circle of Hell, he needs to be fiercer and stronger to get through his journey. Virgil
says to Dante that Thy soul attained is with cowardice, / Which many times a man
encumbers so, / it turns him back from honored enterprise (Canto II, 45 46). Virgil
is helping Dante become more courageous in his journey, which leads him to
become hostile. Dante arrives in the Ninth Circle of Hell which is known to harbor
traitors. The punishment for theses traitors is to be frozen in a lake to represent the
coldness of their hearts and how they do not have any feelings of remorse for
betraying others and their own families. The traitors being frozen and
The Peace Corps Stereotypes

white, brown, and black. Women tended to wear more brown or white pants while
men deviated more towards black colored pants.
When we arrived at Breckenridge, students grouped together with their friends got

Monitoring Assisted Reproductive Technology ( Icmart )
INTRODUCTION
1.0 BACKGROUND
The world has witnessed a marked increase in patients presenting to infertility clinics
in the past three decades.1 Nigeria lies within the infertility belt where prevalence of
infertility is at the highest.2 Infertility has been found to be the leading reason for
gynaecological consultations (accounting for about 60%) with a prevalence of about
15% in Nigeria.3 According to the World Health Organization (WHO) and
International Committee for Monitoring Assisted Reproductive Technology
(ICMART), infertility is defined clinically as a disease of the reproductive system
characterized by a failure to achieve successful pregnancy after twelve months or
more of regular unprotected sexual intercourse.4
Reproduction either in vivo or in vitro is dependent on the presence of viable gametes
(sperm and ovum), a successful sperm to ovum interaction; fertilization and an
effective implantation of the fertilized ovum onto the endometrial wall of the
uterus.3 In a study carried out in south western Nigeria, the common causes of
infertility were: tubal factor (39.5%), uterine factor (30%), and ovarian factor
(13%).5 Other causes included cervical factor (3%), pelvic inflammatory disease PID
(5.5%), and endometriosis (2.5%).5
In vitro Fertilization (IVF) treatment offers the highest pregnancy rate irrespective of
the cause of infertility.6 The first successful IVF procedure was documented by Dr
Edwards and Dr Steptoe in 1978, where ova and sperm were
The Veterinary Science Class At Belen High School
The Veterinary Science class at Belen High School is one of the classes that I am
taking. I have this class once every other day, and only on the weekdays. All the
students that are in my agriculture class can access it. The class is offered during
4th period. I have two Agriculture classes, but I will only be reviewing my
veterinary science class. I have had an Agriculture class since Freshman year, and I
am enrolled in FFA through this class. My genre for my subject is a high school
classroom. My agriculture class teaches lessons students can carry on for life in a
hands on classroom setting and has a teacher who is willing to teach students so they
can learn to the best of their abilities.
Students need lessons that they can carry on for the rest of their life. In this class I
learn many of those types of lessons. I learn many things about the vet science
world. I do not want to be a vet, but I want to be a doctor. In this class I learn many
things about the anatomy of animals, a lot of which applies to what I will need to
know when I am a doctor. I also learn everyday life lessons. No teacher understands
that they teach their students more from what is not in the lesson. They teach
students so much about themselves that the students could not understand without
these teachers. An article I read by Huffpost Education stated it is vital that students
learn how to connect what occurs in the class with their lives and the world outside
of the classroom. I agreed
Brief Summary Of The Book Redemption By Nicholas
Lemann
Redemption During this time the only thing predictable about politics in
Reconstruction was its unpredictability. Colfax massacre being one of the bloodiest
encounters of Reconstruction, serves as the base to Nicholas Lemann s book.
Redemption is a story that shows the violent overthrow of Reconstruction in
Louisiana and Mississippi in the 1870s. Brief knowledge is known to historian, but
very little is known by the general public. In Lemann s demonstration of the Civil
War and Reconstruction, redemption is a very ironic term, and a huge play on words.
Redemption was a term white supremacists used to commemorate the destruction of
what they thought to be the vile imposition. Lemann s way of embracing the white
supremacist nomenclature, he made the paradoxes and the contradictions much more
vivid. The Radical Reconstruction would be the start of something that white
supremacists would want to come to an end soon after starting. The white
supremacists thought this to be the most breathtaking democratic revolution in the
nineteenth century world. In the chaos of the Civil War, the largest and most
powerful slave regime in the Americas was defeated militarily, and slavery was
abolished. This alone distinguished the American experience from every other servile

Gender Roles Of Mulan
Mulan is a Disney classic that depicts gender stereotypes, socialization of gender
roles, and the consequences of over stepping one s gender role. Like American
cultural, in the Chinese society men and women have specific gender roles that they
must follow. Mulan broke the gender roles and was brave enough to pretend to be a
man to go to war with the Huns in the place of her father. Knowing that she would
face major consequences if she was caught, Mulan still was committed to going to
war. The Chinese society in Mulan exemplifies the typical genderroles of males and

the society expected in males and females in characteristics and attitudes.
As a young woman in china, Mulan tried to honor her family by the doing the
expected and trying to find a husband. She was expected to be like any other young
lady in chine, delicate, polite, reserved, and obedient. Unfortunately, Mulan didn t
share majority of those traits with the rest of the young women in China. She was
considered a disappointment, she showed up late to her meeting with the match
maker that would potentially pair her up with her husband. Mulan couldn t pour tea
the right way women learn, or the right way to bare children because of the way her
body was shaped. The Match Maker , who believed Mulan would never honor her

The Four Literary Tools
The Top Ten Tools are the essential key to critically analyzing literature. With these
tools, including The Four Topos elements, The Three Matter of Facts, and The
Three Appeals, literature can be broken down into segments allowing the reader to
get a complete understanding of the purpose for that specific piece. Throughout the
course, we have navigated through various essays that could all be examples of
these top ten tools. However, certain essays better illustrate specific tools, which
can be used as examples to define the true meaning of a literary tool. Pertaining to
The Four Topos, the first literary tool of Definition can be defined as the displaying

The Three appeals define the idea of persuasion throughout a piece of literature.
Throughout an argument, the elements of Logos, Ethos and Pathos are present in
some fashion. The use of Logos focuses on the persuasion through evidence aspect.
An author who understands that they have the Matter of Fact and Policy on their
side typically uses logos. Logos is typically not something an author strives to use,
but is apparent to the reader. An example for a logos essay would be Susan
Brownmiller s essay, Let s Put Pornography Back in the Closet . One way that this
essay provides logos type qualities is by the clear reasoning that she gives, along with
the evidence she provides to defend her side. She effectively acknowledges the
opposing side of the argument as well as providing reasonable claims that address
specific cases such as the Miller v. California case in
Barber Clipper Research Paper
Have you ever wondered how often a black male visits the barber? Before 2007 the
males in my family visited the barber every two weeks. At that time, it was $10 for
a cut hair and a shape up without tip. However, during the recession (2007 2009)
was a very uneasy time where job security was uncertain so many individuals were
trying to save or cut cost and so was my family.
Barber visits gradually decreased from twice a month to once a month to self shave
and barber visits every 5 to 6 weeks. Initially a decision was made to purchase a
clipper to maintain the clean look without going to the barber frequently. But over
time my dad became good with the clipper and barber visits became a special
occasion visit for a new look or style.

The National Coal Mining Museum is based at the site of Caphouse Colliery in
Overton; once a fully functioning mine. The museum has an area, 140 meters
underground, which has been adapted to demonstration the development and
revolution in mining techniques through out the ages. It presents mining techniques
from the early 19th century all the way through to the present day. The museum also
houses an array of mining machinery and vehicles that has been conserved since its
use, which are kept in a gallery above ground. Such machinery includes locomotives,
BJD coal cutters, and a seventeen tonne Dosco Roadheader that was used to cut
roadways underground. (National Coal Mining Museum, 2014)
Equipment Types
Coal had been in use far long before the 19th century, however, the arrival of the
industrial revolution saw a boom in the demand for coal and as a result coal mining
became an enormous and lucrative industry. Nonetheless, the equipment used in the
early 19th century was still exceptionally primitive and working conditions were also
very harsh.
Shockingly, in those days it was not unusual for entire families to be
Adversity
Mark Haver March 5, 2012 Period 3 MW AP English
Argument Essay
Adversity has a way of bringing up challenges unexpectedly, most people shrink away
from it and get consumed, but when they push through it people come out stronger
than they were before.
Throughout history there has always been adversity, even today there are people
who struggle to cope with it in their everyday lives, but some are able to overcome it
as individuals and move on. But sometimes there are situations so adverse it takes
more than one person to overcome mentally and/or physically.
One of the greatest examples of more than one person coming together and over
coming adversity would be the Romans. They started out as a small group ... Show

When in the doctor s office it can be a really tense situation for the patient. But that is
why doctors describe the many benefits of getting a shot, to administer medicine or
a vaccine to keep people from getting sick and prevent infections or diseases. After
the patients know that a shot isn t that bad, they are more mentally prepared for
the next time and will not be afraid. Driving also can be adverse because it puts a
person in control of an object that has an incredible amount of force, and has varied
velocity and if they should crash, it could mean serious injury or worse to both the
driver and/or other people. So it s up to the driver to stay focused and pay attention
which can be very stressful and kind of scary. But a driver must push through their
fears of driving in order to stay focused; after these fears are pushed aside they are
much stronger mentally than they were before
Adversity is something that many people are able to over come, most people can
by themselves, others it requires a lot of help and if they work together and set aside
petty fears it will be overcome. When they come out to the other side they will be
stronger that before both mentally and/or
Alternatives to Dhaka Traffic Jam
ACKNOWLEDGEMENT This research paper is part of my course requirement
Eng105 that was assigned to me for this fall semester 2007.The research paper is
based on the most happening concern of Dhaka city Traffic congestion. The research
paper titled Alternatives to control traffic jams in Dhaka city is done with the
constant help and sincere contribution of many people. First of all I would take this
platform to thank my Course instructor Ms. Melissa Hussain; she had been a
constant support and directed us the various steps that are required in completion of
this project. Next the people who patiently corresponded to my questionnaire and also

The U.N. statistics projected that Dhaka would be the most populous city after
Tokyo by year 2015. According to a recent Japanese environmental report, Dhaka
city is beset with a number of socio environmental problems. Traffic congestion,
flooding, solid waste disposal, black smoke from vehicular and industrial emissions,
air and noise pollution, and pollution of water bodies by industrial discharge.... With
the increasing growth in population the other variables for living like food, shelter
and demand for better roadways have increased in recent years. The main cause for
traffic congestion is the mismanagement of the government to regulate a healthy
traffic in the city, followed by the slow non motorized moving vehicles like
rickshaw, the building of multistoried buildings without adequate parking facilities.
But presently caretaker government has put RAJUK (RAJUK is one of the lead
Construction Actor in the development process of Dhaka. The main activities
include construction of roads, box culverts/culverts and bridges and also
development, excavation and filling of land) in the move to actively handle and
demolish the structures that were illegally occupied by people which were public
owned property this demolishing act by RAJUK gave Dhaka more space for
movement for people and construction of roads. Thus the inadequate and inefficient
form of transportation system has led the whole

Question 2.
Use an extended example to critically discuss how a company s annual report and
accounts are useful in understanding and analyzing its market, productive and
financial performance.
Annual report and accounts like the income statement, the cash flow statement and
the balance sheet, are financial accounting statement. They comprise numerical data
over the past year and indicate the company s prospect for future financial
performance. The information would allow user groups to understand and analyse the
company s performance and to make decisions of their own interests. Through
looking at the annual reports and accounts of Nokia, I ll explain how the report can be

Let s compare the figures in chart 1.6 and 1.7; in 2007, Nokia s had a market share
of 35.1% in the China mobile phone market (2G) which dominated the market. But
in 2009, its market share dropped by 7% to 28.4%. Although Nokia s sales in
China have increased, but the rate of increase of its sales is slower than the market
itself, hence the decrease on market shares. Like the CEO of Nokia, Olli Pekka
Kallasvuo said in 2010, the global market has continued to grow at a healthy pace;
the only problem for Kallasvuo is that while the market might be growing at a
healthy pace, Nokia s sales aren t. Since resources are limited, it is vital to maximize
output using the least amount of labour and capital. Like measuring market
performance, we can use data on the annual report to measure a company s productive
performance physically and financially.

The Republic Of Ireland And The United Kingdom
The Republic of Ireland and the United Kingdom
An Analysis of Governments, Politics, and Society in the Region
Conall P. MacKenzie
FP230 Short Paper
LCDR Rachael Gosnell
24SEP2015
Western Europe has grown exponentially since the colonial period, and the
emergence of the Republic of Ireland and a unified United Kingdom has clearly
shown that Europe s boarders are constantly changing. Each nation has evolved in
its own ways over the course of its existence, but both show many similarities that
are highly visible in governing styles, political parties, and the societies
themselves. These differences are what separate the two states from one another.
Since Ireland received independence from Great Britain in 1922, its governmental
processes and political parties have changed entirely from what they were before,
thus causing a massive shift of the public view of Ireland, and the United Kingdom
from the early 20th century to present day. Now, it is readily apparent that even
though they are incredibly different countries both are successful and in no worry
of becoming a failed state. However, there are dissimilarities between the governing
styles as well as the types of party platforms in each region that have aided their
successes. Ireland was not always its own country. For a long period, it fell under the
jurisdiction of Great Britain. Throughout the early 20th century, Ireland looked to
secede from Great Britain, leading to its eventual success in the act by

A Pacific Penelope s Web?
Margaret Jolly
In her review of the significance of cloth in Pacific polities, Annette Weiner has
evoked the persona of Penelope, weaving by day, and unweaving the same fabric
by night, in order to halt time (1986, 108).[1] This image of a Pacific Penelope
halting time was inspired by Weiner s reanalysis of the Trobriand islands. In her
monograph (1976), in several subsequent papers (1980, 1982a, 1983a, 1986) and in
her shorter text (1988) she conclusively demonstrated that Malinowski and a host of
other male observers had failed to see women s central place in Trobriand exchange:

Not far from this gravesite, another stone marks the grave of Mitakata, successor to
Touluwa and Powell s informant in 1950. Mitakata died in 1961, and Vanoi became
his heir. (1976, xix)
The rhetorical device that Weiner uses in Women of Value, Men of Renown, namely,
heading each section with a quotation from Malinowski, does, as she suggests,
highlight their historical relation, but, again, ultimately it stresses the consistency of
their ethnographic questions and the constancy of Tro

is made explicitly in a later essay.
What initially astounded me upon my arrival in Kiriwina was the striking similarity
between a Kiriwina village in 1971 and Malinowski s descriptions and photographs
of the same village in 1922. Although superficially some things had changed (an
airstrip, tourists, some Western clothing) everything else was as if nothing was
changed. (Weiner 1980, 272)
The introductory notes to this later essay situate the Massim in Melanesian colonial
history cataloging the successive influences of whalers, pearlers and bГЄche de mer
traders, gold prospectors, and labor recruiters from the 1850s; Christian missions
from 1894; and the controls of government from the establishment of a British

Nora Foil
Henrik Ibsen personifies his personal beliefs through his choice of characters in A
Doll s House. Ibsen describes his main character, Nora, as someone who is
innocent, childlike, very much so content with life and protected by her husband
(Gassner xiii). Her actions lead readers to believe that she is someone with no
power in her relationship and is someone with very little control over her own
actions and life. This initial character would easily be considered a foil to the latter
version of her character. She changes herself entirely throughout the play and the
opinions of herself and loved ones goes to prove this character change. Nora

self dependent upon her husband. She plans to continue to be his Sweet little song

doesn t amuse him any longer to see me skipping about, and dressing up and acting
(Ibsen 13), their conversation does makes it clear that Nora enjoys the little
independence she has gotten from her secret life. Her two lifestyle options are
balanced out in front of her as she then explains that she knows supporting herself
would be a difficult task. She is forced to choose between these two lifestyles as her
husband finds out about her forgery (Gassner

Technology Essay

  • 1. Technology Essay Crafting an essay on the broad and ever-evolving subject of technology is undeniably challenging. The difficulty lies in the vast scope of the topic, as technology encompasses a myriad of aspects ranging from historical developments to current innovations, ethical considerations, societal impacts, and predictions for the future. Firstly, navigating through the historical evolution of technology demands a comprehensive understanding of pivotal inventions and their implications. From the wheel to the internet, tracing this intricate timeline requires meticulous research and the ability to discern significant milestones. Moving forward, discussing current technological trends involves staying abreast of the latest advancements, which often change rapidly. The challenge here lies in the need for updated and relevant information, as well as the ability to analyze and present these trends in a coherent and engaging manner. Addressing ethical concerns related to technology adds another layer of complexity. Delving into topics such as privacy, cybersecurity, and the ethical implications of artificial intelligence requires a nuanced understanding of both technology and moral philosophy. Furthermore, exploring the societal impact of technology involves examining its influence on communication, education, healthcare, and various other sectors. Drawing connections between technological advancements and their real-world consequences necessitates a critical and interdisciplinary approach. Predicting the future of technology is an additional challenge, as it involves synthesizing information from diverse fields and considering potential trajectories. This requires a blend of foresight, research skills, and the ability to extrapolate current trends into future scenarios. In conclusion, writing an essay on technology demands not only a deep understanding of the subject matter but also the ability to synthesize information from diverse sources and present it in a cohesive and compelling manner. It is a task that requires both analytical and creative thinking, making it a formidable undertaking. • 2. Understanding Pro Social Behaviour Among Humans ( Cikara ) The ability for an individual to recognize another s suffering and experience the same emotions to some extent is common in order to promote pro social behaviour among humans (Cikara, Bruneau, Van Bavel, Saxe, 2014). This ability to empathize with others begins early on and is motivated by the need to alleviate the distress in another when they are suffering. As noted by de Waal (2008), empathyoccurs quickly and automatically as a way to respond to the emotional states of others, in turn being a major part of social interactions, coordinated activity, and cooperation toward shared goals. Thus, de Waal (2008) discusses the three different levels of empathy, among which are emotional contagion, sympathetic concern, and empathic perspective taking. Firstly, emotional contagion is simply about automatic sharing as the individual takes on the emotional state of another even without any understanding of the other (de Waal, 2008). Next, de Waal (2008) suggests sympathetic concern is when an individual attempts to understand and reduce distress in the other (i.e. comforting behaviour), as there is knowledge that the response is about the other. Lastly, empathic perspective taking occurs when an individual is dependent on imagination and mental state attribution as it is entirely about the other and separate from the self (de Waal, 2008). There is much research done to suggest that there are failures in peoples ability to empathize (Cikara et al. 2014; Brown, Bradley, Lang,
  • 3. Claudia Gordon Research Paper Claudia Gordon, the first deaf woman with African decent to be an attorney in the United States was an important figure head. To talk about her, however, we have to look deeper, towards some of her actions. She was born in Jamaica to a mother whose education was as limited as a 13 year old s. Due to her poor education, her motherhad to work as a house servant, along with taking care of laundry, both for money Claudia s mother could use to support Claudia and her 2 siblings. To make a better life for her family, she moved to the Bronx and left her kids with her oldest sister, a schoolteacher named Mildred Taylor. Sadly, Claudia contracted otitus media, a painful infection of the ear and had to be taken to the local clinic. With no doctors on duty, the nurses had to make do with their own limited knowledge, which resulted in Claudia not getting antibiotics for her infection, which causes her to lose her hearing and part of herself in a matter of hours. Her life changed so rapidly, going from outgoing to a shut in, laughed at due to her iniquities. Not wanted to deal with the frustrations of public school, she decided to go to Lexington School for the Deaf. She exceled there (well rounded) and was valedictorian her last 2 years ... She has even worked with Ralph Lauren Polo, the brand known for its nice clothes, to sell certain jeans with a slogan of G.I.V.E., which means to ( Get Involved, Volunteer, and Exceed ). You can believe her when she says she doesn t have that much time for socializing for
  • 4. What Is The Timeline Of Renegotiations For The NFL CBA I think first and foremost we must establish the timeline of renegotiations for the NFL CBA. In the light of the current NFL landscape I believe it is in the best interest of the NFL owner s and the players to establish good faith in these negotiations, in order to do that I believe we should open negotiations at the end of the 2017 season. The reason the NBA and MLB were able to renew their respective CBA s smoothly was because the relationships between the playersand owners is strong and both understand that working together will help both parties. The NFL does not have that luxury right now and we at the NFL must work to improve those relationships to make the game better for the owners, players and fans. By opening negotiations now we... So the players split their portion of the revenues with more people and they need a large slice in order to give each and every player a taste of the billion dollar business that the NFL is. b.There needs to be a change in how disciple is handed down i.One of the largest issues for the players is that Goodell has to much power. The players want their to be a more transparent process in how fines and suspensions are handed down ii. I believe the NFL should create a position (If they have not already) that is responsible for all fines and suspensions. This could be Goodell, but if the player appeals the suspension or fine then the NFL should create a three person panel that will hear the appeal. The panel will consist of a member of the league, NFLPA, and an independent arbitrator. iii. This will create a more fair and honest process for both the players and owners in the long run c.A review of the drug protocol i.The NFL players have been outspoken about the use of medical marijuana and how the affects of this drug could help them recover better in the offseason. ii. I believe there has been enough medical evidence that this should be a topic discussed in the next CBA iii. Marijuana should be a legal drug during the offseason, but I think
  • 5. Imagination In Dante Alighieri s The Inferno Analysis When you think of Hell, what do you see, perhaps a burning pit full of criminals and crazed souls? Or maybe you re like Dante and have a well organized system of levels in correspondence with each person s sins. In Dante Alighieri s epic The Inferno, Dante and his real life hero, Virgil, go on an adventure through a rather elaborate version of Hell. In this version of Hell numerous thoughts and ideals are brought to the attention of the readers. Through Dante s use of both imaginative and artistic concepts one can receive a great visual impression of how Dante truly views Hell, and by analyzing his religious and philosophical concepts the reader can connect with the work to better understand how rewarding this work was for the time period. Imagination is defined as, the act or power of forming a mental image of something not present to the senses or never before wholly perceived by reality (Merriam Webster). In The InfernoHell is just that, a creation of Dante s imagination. By reading the epic a mental image of Hell is formed, but it can be viewed in various ways due to Hell never being wholly perceived by reality. The whole novel is never seen as less than real, but many of the events that occur are not life like. Having suicidal souls trapped in trees with Harpies eating them until they bleed is far from reality (Alighieri, 101). With an example of Dante s imagination comes the concepts of art. The words creative imagination are in the definition of art. Therefore,
  • 6. The Independence Of The Judiciary Introduction The independence of the judiciary is based on the doctrine of separation of powers which talks about the separation of power between the legislature, executive and the judiciary which means that function of judicial system of country should be independent from the executive, the legislature and from political pressure of country. Originating in the writings of the French philosopher Montesquieu and the American statesmen Madison , the notion of separation of powers stems from the belief that the best way to control government power is to divide it among the various branches of government the legislative, executive and judicial branches (Motala, 1995: 506). The three branches of government must be functionally separate and refrain from interfering with the functions of one another. TAs per the doctrine of separation of power all the three Executive, Legislation, and Judiciary should work independently and should not encroach on function of each other. Judiciary should be free from the influence of the executive so that justice can be provided to the aggrieved parties. Executive should not interfere or exercise conВ¬trol over the working of courts. Independence of the Judiciary is the sine qua non of democracy. The purpose of democracy is not served merely by getting laws enacted by democratically constituted bodies. Machinery for the just interpretation of laws thus enacted is exceedingly necessary. An independent judiciary alone can fulfill this task. With

Certainly we are not a Senate or a House of Peers met for the impeachment of a Verrus or a Hastings, but a court of our respective countries. Lastly, the war crime trials were held at ten different locations in China. The International Military Tribunal for the Far East (IMTFE) consisted of a large variety of different persons representing different countries. The Tribunal s sheer size and complexity is an example of an un needed redundancy that among today s standards is unfathomable. When compared to its counterpart at Nuremberg, one can determine the seemingly comprehensive and complete proceedings as oddly overbearing. The Tokyo Trials lasted three times longer than the Trial of the Major German War Criminals. It involved at least 230 translators and 237 Prosecution and Defense lawyers. The hypocritical aspects involve the methods and procedures in which the IMTFE operated. It was established in order to prosecute war criminals, allowing for the justice system to take on its role. Yet the IMTFE has set its own rules and standards, decided what evidence , however crucial, may or may not be entered as exhibits. The lack of a complete and fair trial existed not only in the admittance or the one sided

  • 11. Fa Mu Lan No Name Woman The No Name Woman is a failure in Chinese society, but starkly contrasted by the success and fulfillment of traditional expectations demonstrated in the woman warrior, Fa Mu Lan. In the second section of Kingston s account, White Tiger, the author controversially develops her own retelling of this famous myth with herself as the legendary Chinese figure. Kingston initiates this section stating, when we Chinese girls listened to the adults talk story, we learned that we failed if we grew up to be but wives or slaves (Kingston 19). The words of her elders engrained in Kingston and her female peers their place of women, enslaved to their husbands and bound to housework. Yet Kingston does not accept this reality and instead plunges into a powerful tale of a female who not only overcomes gender roles but is the champion of the entire Chinese nation. Fa Mu Lan is a swordswoman, who utilizes her physical and magical training to cause social justice. Despite her occupations with valor and justice, however, Kingston s character also finds time to nurture a child and attend the domestic duties traditionally assigned to women, a challenge to ancient stereotypes and an affirmation of modern ideas of women balancing families with their careers. Similarly, the weapons Kingston yields are her words and the truth of her experience she artfully relates.

The P type ATPases are a large family of membrane enzymes, with 476 different subtypes categorised in the Swiss Prot protein information database. The P type or E1 E2 ATPases were first discovered and categorised by Jens Christian Skou, a Danish physician turned physiologist in 1957. Skou discovered the Na+/K+ ATPase, and later shared half of the 1997 Nobel Prize for Chemistry in reward for his work (Skou 1997). This reduces the ATPase s K+ affinity, causing the release of K+ into the cell (Lehninger et al. 2000). It is the above process that is responsible for approximately 25% of the bodies daily ATP breakdown and consequent energy usage (Lehninger et al. 2000). The sodium and potassium ions, and the large concentration gradients that exist, consist a vital physiological feature of the cell, and one that is implicated in myriad cellular processes. The main cellular process, as mentioned above, for which the Na/K ATPase is responsible, is the maintenance of a membrane potential via the movements of its bonding ions. It is the maintenance, and the presence of this potential that allow the existence of the cell. The presence of a pre existing potential allows transport of glucose and other molecules, such as Cl ions via the mechanism of secondary active transport, harnessing the Na+ gradient into the cell caused by ATP breakdown (Skou 2004). The P type ATPase is also important in the process of muscle contraction. The sarcoplasmic reticulum Ca2+ ATPase (SERCA) constitutes 80% of the protein content of the sarcoplasmic reticulum. The process of muscle contraction is

With the way the system is set up, its getting these youths ready to fail again. Most kids that go through the Juvenile Justice System are more likely to go through the system again and then into the adult prisons. The Juvenile System has become a preparation for prison. There is no reform, only punishment, making these kids tougher and more prepared to further their career in illegal activities that are much worse than those that have landed them in the system in the first place. Time magazine reported in 2009 that detention centers often increase bad behavior once incarcerated youths are released, a trend that follows them into adulthood. The article states that those who ended up being sentenced to juvenile prison were 37 times more likely to be arrested again as adults (Surman 2017). Once in the system there is a much greater chance you will enter the system again. These systems are flawed and must be changed in order to change these kids ways of thinking toward life. These systems are not correcting or rehabilitating any of the unlucky youths that end up in there. They are now just getting prepared for further depth into criminal activities. Once changes are made to place more programs to help these kids succeed in society we will see these numbers decrease.
  • 16. The United States And The Native Americans Essay The United States and the Native Americans have a rich historical background. Though on the surface it is filled with hatred and injustice, there are a lot more complex interactions once thoroughly examined. The U.S, once a colony of the Europeans, eventually grew into the strong standing nation that it is today. Meanwhile the original inhabitants, the Native Americans, often received the aggression and oppression of this growing nation, but they weren t the savages the U.S. claimed them to be. In fact, the IroquoisConfederacy was the main influence of the U.S Constitution. This paper will discuss the differences as well as the similarities, which are thought to be controversial, between these two historical documents. The difference between the two groups has been very apparent for the hundreds of years they cohabited. For the Native Americans everything about the American culture clashed greatly with their own beliefs and systems within their own community. An example would be how their community was mainly led by the idea of equality and a voice for everyone, no matter how young or old. According to Grinde s analysis, Iroquois political philosophy was transmitted through the social education of the young and power [was] equally distributed male and female, young and old [rather] than in European American society (236). The Iroquois also placed a tremendous amount of importance in teaching the younger people about politics so they had enough education to be able to

Taco Bell Vs Disneyland Case Study Reflecting on my past few years in the food industry, I have realized I have been hired on as an employee for various companies including well known large companies and smaller mom and pop facilities. Even though it is typically expected that each job differs from the last, one usually believes two jobs in the same field, such as cashiering in a fast paced restaurant will have the same basis of rules. However, when comparing a cashiering position at Taco Bell, to a cashiering position at Disneyland, one will discover there are many more differences than similarities. To begin, Taco Bell does not have any special vocabulary. A cashier is called a cashier and customers are called customers. Disneyland on the other hand, refers to employees as cast members, and customers as guests. Cast members are required to learn other Disneyland vocabulary, or backstage lingo. To begin with, backstage refers to the employee only areas, and on stage refers to the area where Disneyland guests pay to visit. When walking on stage , every cast member needs to be in full costume, or show ready . The application and interview process for Taco Bell and Disneyland were the same, I applied online, and within a week received notice of a scheduled interview time. The interview process was simple, I went in, was asked questions regarding my availability and my ability to work independently and with others. A refugee is someone who is outside his or her country of origin and is at risk of being persecuted if he or she returns . The Convention Relating to the Status of Refugees establishes the basic human rights to which refugees are entitled wherever they are (Dauvergne, 2012, p. 1445). Refugees are talked about and handled in certain ways within different discourses. Foucault s defines discourseas the rules and practices that produce meaningful statements about a topic at a particular historical moment. He argues that it constricts the topic . (Hall, 1997, p.44). This essay will analyse the representation of refugees through a political and media discourse. A political discourse on refugees is explored in Rocco Fazzari and Denis Carnahan s video Stop the Boats (with cash) Tony . The video highlights the political language for talking about refugees and the ways in which they are viewed by the Australian government. In comparison the media discourse will be examined through Nilufer Demir s (2015) photograph of a drowned Syrian child refugee. The image stresses the pivotal role the media plays in constructing and circulating meanings (Hightower, 2014, p.336). By analysing refugees through these two texts, an understanding of the different representation and meanings produced by separate discourses on the same topic can be developed. A political discourse allows the government s policies on refugees and the

As it reached the city walls of Vienna, the few friends who had accompanied Mozart on his last journey turned back, due to the unusually bad weather conditions. Such a scene is sadly appropriate in representing the tragic end of Mozart who had begun his life with such immeasurable promise. Mozart felt he could breathe again as he set off from Salzburg sure that his genius was about to be acknowledged by the world at large. In 1777, Mozart traveled with his mother to Mannheim, where he remained and composed, ignoring the looming financial problems he was facing. In the meantime, he had fallen madly in love with the young singer Aloysia Weber. Leopold was aghast, Aloysia was the daughter of a lowly copyist and member of the chorus at the court theater, this match seemed disastrous. Mozart s father resorted to emotional blackmail to get him out of Mannheim and into Paris where he could take on pupils. It seems that Mozart did pay heed and set off with his mother for Paris on March 13, 1778. In Paris, everything seemed to be going well until Anna Maria was struck down by a fever and fell into a coma. Her death on July 3rd left Mozart grieving and in isolation. He reluctantly returned to Salzburg full of dread, and was greeted by his father with these words: If your mother had come back home from Mannheim, she would not have died... You would have got to Paris at a better time... and my poor wife would still be (alive) in Salzburg. With this sad

This region locates itself on the islands of Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and a bit of Quebec, with Moncton and Halifax as some of its major cities. The rocks, most of which are mostly sedimentary, were changed drastically when Europe and North America collided, causing its geography to be uneven, with many jagged peaks. Forestry, agriculture, fishing, tourism, coal mining, logging, and manufacturing are their main industries.Their overall population lands at a bit more than 25 million. Some interesting facts are that they have the oldest mountains and the richest fishing. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While an electric lawn mower is one way to reduce your gasoline consumption, a push reel mower is really the best alternative of all. Most of us remember pushing a reel lawnmower as a kid. Those heavy old machines took some real effort to push and resulted in both splinters in our hands and a pretty raggedy looking turf. Unlike those heavy old push mowers our grandparent s used to own, today s modern push reel mowers are so much easier to use. These newer styled models are lightweight, easy to push, and do a superior job of cutting the grass. The many benefits of using a reel mower as opposed to a gas powered lawn mower may surprise you. Here are just a few benefits our family discovered in over seven years of using a Scotts Classic Push Reel Mower. 1. For green gardeners, a push reel mower is the most environmentally friendly way to mow a lawn. Push mowers don t use gas, oil, and spark plugs, nor produce exhaust to pollute the air. 2. Lack of a motorized engine also means less maintenance is required to keep the push mower running. After mowing, we brush off the blades of our reel mower to remove grass and dirt particles, and then lube the bearings and cutting edge with a little WD 40. Mower maintenance doesn t get much easier than that! 3. Unlike a gas model which can take up a whole corner of the garage, a push mower takes very little room since it can be hung up by the handles from a wall. Compact storage is a definite plus for people with limited space. 4. Because the blades are pushed manually, a reel mower is a much safer machine for children to use. When my (then) 11 year old daughter started cutting the neighbor s lawn for spending money, we felt perfectly comfortable letting her use the push mower, knowing that she won t be able to accidentally hurt herself. 5. Dante can feel sorry for their situation, but there is no way he can forgive them of the sin they committed. God did put them there so no matter how much pity Dante feels for them there is nothing he could do about their punishment in Hell. As Dante travel deeper along Hell, he needs to become stronger to complete his journey. Like American cultural, in the Chinese society men and women have specific gender roles that they must follow. Mulan broke the gender roles and was brave enough to pretend to be a man to go to war with the Huns in the place of her father. Knowing that she would face major consequences if she was caught, Mulan still was committed to going to war. The Chinese society in Mulan exemplifies the typical genderroles of males and females, the consequences of displaying the opposite gender role, and showed what the society expected in males and females in characteristics and attitudes. As a young woman in china, Mulan tried to honor her family by the doing the expected and trying to find a husband. She was expected to be like any other young lady in chine, delicate, polite, reserved, and obedient. Unfortunately, Mulan didn t share majority of those traits with the rest of the young women in China. She was considered a disappointment, she showed up late to her meeting with the match maker that would potentially pair her up with her husband. Mulan couldn t pour tea the right way women learn, or the right way to bare children because of the way her body was shaped. The Match Maker , who believed Mulan would never honor her family. Mulan did not display the characteristics that the Chinese society expected a woman to have and was looked at

Throughout the course, we have navigated through various essays that could all be examples of these top ten tools. However, certain essays better illustrate specific tools, which can be used as examples to define the true meaning of a literary tool. Pertaining to The Four Topos, the first literary tool of Definition can be defined as the displaying of the major idea of the essay. By definition, the reader can analyze the true... Throughout an argument, the elements of Logos, Ethos and Pathos are present in some fashion. The use of Logos focuses on the persuasion through evidence aspect. An author who understands that they have the Matter of Fact and Policy on their side typically uses logos. Logos is typically not something an author strives to use, but is apparent to the reader. An example for a logos essay would be Susan Brownmiller s essay, Let s Put Pornography Back in the Closet . One way that this essay provides logos type qualities is by the clear reasoning that she gives, along with the evidence she provides to defend her side. She effectively acknowledges the opposing side of the argument as well as providing reasonable claims that address specific cases such as the Miller v. California case in

At that time, it was $10 for a cut hair and a shape up without tip. However, during the recession (2007 2009) was a very uneasy time where job security was uncertain so many individuals were trying to save or cut cost and so was my family. Barber visits gradually decreased from twice a month to once a month to self shave and barber visits every 5 to 6 weeks. Initially a decision was made to purchase a clipper to maintain the clean look without going to the barber frequently. But over time my dad became good with the clipper and barber visits became a special occasion visit for a new look or style. Now 2018,

The museum has an area, 140 meters underground, which has been adapted to demonstration the development and revolution in mining techniques through out the ages. It presents mining techniques from the early 19th century all the way through to the present day. The museum also houses an array of mining machinery and vehicles that has been conserved since its use, which are kept in a gallery above ground. Such machinery includes locomotives, BJD coal cutters, and a seventeen tonne Dosco Roadheader that was used to cut roadways underground. Adversity Mark Haver March 5, 2012 Period 3 MW AP English Argument Essay Adversity has a way of bringing up challenges unexpectedly, most people shrink away from it and get consumed, but when they push through it people come out stronger than they were before. Throughout history there has always been adversity, even today there are people who struggle to cope with it in their everyday lives, but some are able to overcome it as individuals and move on. But sometimes there are situations so adverse it takes more than one person to overcome mentally and/or physically. One of the greatest examples of more than one person coming together and over coming adversity would be the Romans. They started out as a small group ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After the patients know that a shot isn t that bad, they are more mentally prepared for the next time and will not be afraid. Driving also can be adverse because it puts a person in control of an object that has an incredible amount of force, and has varied velocity and if they should crash, it could mean serious injury or worse to both the driver and/or other people. So it s up to the driver to stay focused and pay attention which can be very stressful and kind of scary. According to a recent Japanese environmental report, Dhaka city is beset with a number of socio environmental problems. Traffic congestion, flooding, solid waste disposal, black smoke from vehicular and industrial emissions, air and noise pollution, and pollution of water bodies by industrial discharge.... With the increasing growth in population the other variables for living like food, shelter and demand for better roadways have increased in recent years. The main cause for traffic congestion is the mismanagement of the government to regulate a healthy traffic in the city, followed by the slow non motorized moving vehicles like rickshaw, the building of multistoried buildings without adequate parking facilities. But presently caretaker government has put RAJUK (RAJUK is one of the lead Construction Actor in the development process of Dhaka. The main activities include construction of roads, box culverts/culverts and bridges and also development, excavation and filling of land) in the move to actively handle and demolish the structures that were illegally occupied by people which were public owned property this demolishing act by RAJUK gave Dhaka more space for movement for people and construction of roads. Use an extended example to critically discuss how a company s annual report and accounts are useful in understanding and analyzing its market, productive and financial performance. Annual report and accounts like the income statement, the cash flow statement and the balance sheet, are financial accounting statement. They comprise numerical data over the past year and indicate the company s prospect for future financial performance. The information would allow user groups to understand and analyse the company s performance and to make decisions of their own interests. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Let s compare the figures in chart 1.6 and 1.7; in 2007, Nokia s had a market share of 35.1% in the China mobile phone market (2G) which dominated the market. But in 2009, its market share dropped by 7% to 28.4%. Although Nokia s sales in China have increased, but the rate of increase of its sales is slower than the market itself, hence the decrease on market shares. Like the CEO of Nokia, Olli Pekka Kallasvuo said in 2010, the global market has continued to grow at a healthy pace; the only problem for Kallasvuo is that while the market might be growing at a healthy pace, Nokia s sales aren t. Since resources are limited, it is vital to maximize output using the least amount of labour and capital. Like measuring market performance, we can use data on the annual report to measure a company s productive performance physically and financially. | Finished Good (EUR m)| Employees| Finished Goods per Employee (EUR)| 12 /2010| 1119| 132427| 8450 | 12/2009| 775| 123553| 6273 | 12/2008| 1270| 125829| 10093 | 12/2007| 1225| 112262| 10912 | (Table 2.1) (Source from 08/09, 09/10 Nokia annual report) | Value Added (EUR m)| Employees| Value Added per Employee (EUR)| 2010| 12817| 132427| 96785 | 2009| 13264| 123553| 107355 | 2008| 17373| 125829| 138068 | 2007| 17277| 112262| 153899 | (Table 2.2)(Source from 08/09, 09/10 Nokia annual report) In table 2.1, it shows
  • 46. The Republic Of Ireland And The United Kingdom The Republic of Ireland and the United Kingdom An Analysis of Governments, Politics, and Society in the Region Conall P. MacKenzie FP230 Short Paper LCDR Rachael Gosnell 24SEP2015 Western Europe has grown exponentially since the colonial period, and the emergence of the Republic of Ireland and a unified United Kingdom has clearly shown that Europe s boarders are constantly changing. Each nation has evolved in its own ways over the course of its existence, but both show many similarities that are highly visible in governing styles, political parties, and the societies themselves. These differences are what separate the two states from one another. Since Ireland received independence from Great Britain in 1922, its governmental processes and political parties have changed entirely from what they were before, thus causing a massive shift of the public view of Ireland, and the United Kingdom from the early 20th century to present day. Now, it is readily apparent that even though they are incredibly different countries both are successful and in no worry of becoming a failed state. However, there are dissimilarities between the governing styles as well as the types of party platforms in each region that have aided their successes. Ireland was not always its own country. For a long period, it fell under the jurisdiction of Great Britain. Throughout the early 20th century, Ireland looked to secede from Great Britain, leading to its eventual success in the act by

Margaret Jolly In her review of the significance of cloth in Pacific polities, Annette Weiner has evoked the persona of Penelope, weaving by day, and unweaving the same fabric by night, in order to halt time (1986, 108).[1] This image of a Pacific Penelope halting time was inspired by Weiner s reanalysis of the Trobriand islands. In her monograph (1976), in several subsequent papers (1980, 1982a, 1983a, 1986) and in her shorter text (1988) she conclusively demonstrated that Malinowski and a host of other male observers had failed to see women s central place in Trobriand exchange: that in fixating so totally on men s exchanges of yams in urigubu and of shell valuables in the ... (1976, xix) The rhetorical device that Weiner uses in Women of Value, Men of Renown, namely, heading each section with a quotation from Malinowski, does, as she suggests, highlight their historical relation, but, again, ultimately it stresses the consistency of their ethnographic questions and the constancy of Tro [pic] ― 40 ― briand culture despite the gap in time and interpretation. The same point is made explicitly in a later essay. What initially astounded me upon my arrival in Kiriwina was the striking similarity between a Kiriwina village in 1971 and Malinowski s descriptions and photographs of the same village in 1922. Although superficially some things had changed (an airstrip, tourists, some Western clothing) everything else was as if nothing was changed.
