Equipment I got to use various types of equipment during filming. The camera that I used was a Panasonic HDC SD10 and also a tripod with adjustable legs so that the height could be changed. I got to know how to use these things more like attaching the camera to the tripod, tilting the camera and changing the tripod’s height.
I also used a shoulder strap like this one for a few scenes. As holding the camera on it’s own was a bit shaky, this was a better way to film and it was a more comfortable and efficient way to aim and move the camera. I also found out how to attach the camera on and off from this and how to change the adjustments of it.
I used Blogger in order to describe each of the tasks that I did. I learnt how to do things like add posts to a blog, and then edit or delete posts if I needed to. I also learnt how to embed videos from YouTube and my phone, and also upload interactive PowerPoint presentations onto it.
I used Adobe Photoshop in order to get the individual elements of the production logo together. I learnt how to import images on to different layers so that I could save them individually, and I also managed to make some of the images transparent which got rid of their white backgrounds. I also got to know how to move the images around on the page to get the right composition.
Final Cut Express was essential for the editing of our film. Initially I found it confusing to use as there were a lot of options on the page, however I gained a better understanding of it after editing on it a few times. I focused on making the title and production logo so I learnt how to trim images if they were too long, add music on to the timeline and animating things on the screen (e.g. fading in and out).
iMovie HD was used to put my commentary voiceover over my short film. I was taught how to record on a specific place on the timeline and how to save some parts of the film as still frames, so that what I am describing fits what is being shown on the film.
YouTube was our primary way of making sure that our short film could be seen as people. We also had to upload other videos like presentations and commentaries. This taught me how to upload videos and change the format if necessary. I also learnt how to embed the code to put on Blogger so that people can view it from there.
