This document summarizes a presentation about teaching in the age of collaboration. The presenter, Fiona Beal, is a passionate educator who has incorporated technology into her teaching. She provides examples of collaborative projects she has done with her students using tools like blogs, wikis, Skype and Google docs. These projects connected her students with classrooms around the world. She also describes projects done by other educators to provide ideas for ways to collaborate using tools she has not yet tried like Google sites and SchoolTube.

Port Elizabeth, England and the USA.

important 21st century skills as they use the internet.
A collaborative project leads to many valuable teachable
moments and allows student directed learning.

compounding realism of the game as well as the fantastical elements

Each class captures a monthly picture of the view from a classroom
window throughout the year and watch how the scenery changes.
They write descriptions of what they see change and to also share
with other classrooms about what they have observed. The
description includes the date, time of day, weather, and temperature.

Voices Of The World was created in June 2007 by Mrs. Tonner a
former ICT Specialist at The High School Of Dundee in Scotland,
United Kingdom and now a Lecturer in Primary Education at The
University Of Dundee. The project started as an eTwinning project to
connect children in Europe using their voice and their own language.
Since the project started in 2007, children from around the world
have 'Let Their Voice Be Heard'.

give others to
ensure that
projects run
smoothly?

Start with small, short projects. Join a project first
before creating your own.
Commitment and dedication are essential
Get to know the other educators prior to and
throughout the project, to gain confidence in each
other
Do not be frightened to ask for help or ask questions
of any nature.
Be prepared to work hard (as hard as you may have
ever worked in your life) and take risks
Work your blogs/wikis to the fullest giving step by step
instructions to classes where possible for each lesson
to clarify the tasks that need to be done in your own
mind and also for student reference.
Give out check list sheets to ensure that students
remain on track
