The project aims to establish an afterschool English club in the local community. It would provide educational opportunities to help students improve their English skills and prepare for exams through activities, games, and workshops. Students would use English online to connect with international partners and learn about other cultures. The project would be implemented in stages, starting with surveying community interest and researching foreign programs. An afterschool program would then be developed and launched, involving regular meetings, workshops, and local events. Progress would be evaluated through student and volunteer feedback to ensure the project's sustainability. The final stage would involve students creating presentations and a blog documenting their experiences in the international project.

Portfolios, Blogs, and Websites: Using the VIUBlog Platform for Student Assig...Michael Paskevicius
Do you want students to share their learning more visibly with their peers?
Are you interested in creating assignments that allow students to collaborate, remix multimedia, and develop literacies for contributing to the open web?
The VIUBlogs service can be used by faculty and students to communicate with peers and/or the community, write collectively, build a portfolio, or engage in reflective writing. An increasing number of faculty are developing learning designs which integrate VIUBlogs as part of student learning activities.
In this session, we will showcase some of the possible ways which you might integrate VIUBlogs into your teaching practice and consider how doing so may make student learning more visible, collaborative, and authentic.

It has been 20 years since the first major publications on online intercultural interaction and exchange began to appear in the CALL literature(Cummins & Sayers, 1995; Eck, Legenhausen & Wolff, 1995; Warschauer, 1995). Since then, we have seen telecollaboration go on to become one of the pillars of CALL research and practice.
Therefore, it is appropriate that the 20th anniversary of these publications coincides with this Eurocall conference calling on us “…to unpack and examine some of the assumptions that may have become ingrained in our practice, and also to reflect on the state of CALL and language pedagogy”. As telecollaboration begins to enter the mainstream of university education, it is indeed high time thatweask ourselves some challenging questions regarding the principles which underlie our practices, the effectiveness and impact of what we do,and the potential value of our work for other areas of university teaching and learning.
In this plenary Itake a critical look at both research and practice of telecollaboration over the past 20 years
The Christopher Stevens Youth Network/CE2.0 –iEARN Jordan Workshop
February 23rd, 2013
iEARN-Jordan conducted a training workshop on February 23rd, 2013 as part of the Christopher Stevens Youth Network: Global Connections 2.0. Fifteen educators from Jordan, Kuwait and the USA participated in the workshop. Ms. Khitam Al-Utaibi, iEARN-Jordan Representative delivered the training on two parts. The first part of the workshop was about learning what is iEARN and take a tour in some of the 300 online projects. After teachers were introduced to iEARN, they had hands on training on some of the essential aspects in Project-Based Learning as well as engaging teachers in some activities related to building skills in grouping strategies, debate strategies and tuning protocols in projects. iEARN International celebrates this year its 25th Anniversary and iEARN-Jordan celebrated this occasion with all participants in the presence of all attendees with a cake that has the logos of the US Department of State, iEARN-Jordan, GCE and the iEARN International logo for the 25th Anniversary.

Conversations with native speakers present the second‐language learner with an incredible opportunity to practice and acquire a language. By using software programs such as Skype, students
can improve their language proficiency as well as have access to a new cultural experience beyond the borders of the classroom. This can be seen as the closest way to give the students a travel abroad experience using the advantages of technology. - Presented by Maria del Pilar Melgarejo-Acosta, Department of Spanish & Portuguese, University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee

This is a presentation by Dada Robert in a Your Skill Boost masterclass organised by the Excellence Foundation for South Sudan (EFSS) on Saturday, the 25th and Sunday, the 26th of May 2024.
He discussed the concept of quality improvement, emphasizing its applicability to various aspects of life, including personal, project, and program improvements. He defined quality as doing the right thing at the right time in the right way to achieve the best possible results and discussed the concept of the "gap" between what we know and what we do, and how this gap represents the areas we need to improve. He explained the scientific approach to quality improvement, which involves systematic performance analysis, testing and learning, and implementing change ideas. He also highlighted the importance of client focus and a team approach to quality improvement.

ENGLISH– equipping for life
1. Project template
1. Project Title: ENGLISH– equipping for life
2. Project idea: Pupils in my community lack the variety of opportunities to spend their
afterschool time in a reasonable way. Except for a taek-von-do club, children, after classes,
are tempted to hang out in the neighbourhood, or surf the net without being supervised by
adults. Thus, “English – equipping for life” afterschool brings a needed and a useful
alternative for the students, as the English Language is a must-have in the modern life: to
apply for a job, to grow both professionally and personally, to foster partnerships. Studying it
is the best way to connect with the world, learn with and about it and have free access to
information. Missing the chance of organizing the “English – equipping for life” afterschool,
deeply cuts off pupils’ chances to a better future life.
3. Driving Question: How can English help to globalise learning and improve my
fellow citizens’ lives?
4. Content skills and standards: Developing students’ speaking skills by using oral
interaction in real life situations with peers from their community as well as those from
abroad as a manner of globalised learning
5. Collaborative Final Product: workshops, videos, photos, presentations, video
conferences, posts on the blog as a proof of involving in international educational non-
profit projects.
6. Local & Global Audience: students from my community, parents, teachers, (native)
English speakers (from the area)
7. Goal(s): - to bring English outside the classroom and improve it by practicing trough
different activities, games, trainings, workshops, journeys;
- to provide equal educational opportunities for students from rural areas and
help them prepare for the final exams( gymnasium graduating exam and BAC);
- to increase peoples’ chances to become highly informed citizens by using
English on-line web-tools and media sources;
8. Procedure (you have to show in the table which are your steps for implementing the
project):
