SUBJECT : TEACHER EDUCATION
TOPIC : PRESENTATION ON DIFFERENT TECHNIQUES FOR
HIGHER LEARNING I.E. WORKSHOP
Submitted to : Dr. Neelam Mam
INTRODUCTION
The workshops are organised to
develop the psychomotor aspects of
the learner regarding practices of
new innovations in area of education
under this technique participants
have do some practical work to
produce instructional teaching and
testing material.
MEANING OF WORKSHOP
 A workshop is a period of discussion or
practical work on a particular subject in
which a group of people share their
knowledge or experience.
 A group of people engaged in study or
work on a creative project or subject.
 A workshop is a building which contains
tools or machinery for making or repairing
things, especially using wood or metal.
 A brief intensive educational program for a
relatively small group of people that
focuses especially on techniques and skills
in a particular field.
DEFINITION OF WORKSHOP
 Workshop is defined as assembled group of
10 – 25 persons who share a common
interest and problem. They meet together to
improve their individual and skills of a
subject through intensive study, research,
practices and discussion.
 A small establishment where manufacturing
or handicrafts are carried on.
 Workroom.
 A usually brief intensive educational
program for a relatively small group of
people that focuses especially on techniques
and skills in a particular field.
I think that, in principle, a workshop
is such a beautiful idea – an
environment in which writers who
are collectively apprenticed to the
craft of writing can come together
in order to collectively improve.
-Eleanor Catton -
WHEN WOULD YOU WANT TO
CONDUCT A WORKSHOP
• The beginning of something new.
• The initial training of staff or volunteers.
• The in-service or ongoing training of
staff or volunteers.
• Staff development.
• The demonstration of a new concept.
• The explanation of something to the
public.
OBJECTIVES OF WORKSHOP
There are two
objectives
Cognitive
objective
Psychomotor
objective
• To solve the problems of teaching
profession.
• To provide the philosophical and
sociological background for instructional
and teaching.
• To identify the educational objectives in
the present context.
• To develop an understanding regarding
the problem.
Cognitive Objectives
Psychomotor Objective
• To develop skills to perform a task
independently
• To train the persons for using different
approaches of teaching.
• Workshop technique is used to seek
explore and identify the solution to a
problem.
• It is used for in – service teachers for
giving awareness and training of new
practices in education.
SCOPE OF WORKSHOP TECHNIQUE
 New formal of lesson – planning
 Writing objectives in behavioural terms.
 Preparing objective type test which are objective
centred
 Action research project for classroom problem.
 Preparing instruction material or teaching model.
 Workshop of microteaching.
 Workshop for interactional analysis technique.
 Workshop for task construction.
 Workshop for preparing research synopsis or proposals.
 Workshop for non formal education.
 Workshop for designing problem for teacher education
are any level.
Procedure of Workshop
Generally workshops are organized for three to ten days. The
experts are invited to provide the awareness and understanding
of the topic. Paper reading is done to discuss the different
aspects of the theme. Trainee or participants are giving
opportunities to seek clarification. Experts provide suitable
illustration and steps for using it in classroom teaching or
education. This stage continues first two days of the schedule.
Now the group – is divided into small groups. Every participant
has to work individually and independently. Every trainee has to
complete his task within the given period. At the end they meet
in their groups and discuss and present their reports of work
done at second stage. The participants are given opportunities
to comment and give suggestions for further improvement.
Experts also provide suggestions on different aspects of the
reports.
IMPORTANCE OF WORKSHOP
 It helps in making the class learning
environment mature and productive.
 It develops qualities like original thinking,
learning while doing and co-operative with
others.
 It helps to develop cognitive, psychomotor
and cognitive domains of an individual with
improvement in overall personality.
 It encourages collective work in fulfilling the
cause of exploration and consolidation of
information in a specified area.
ADVANTAGES OF WORKSHOP
TECHNIQUE
* It is used to realize the higher cognitive and psychomotor
objectives.
* It is a technique which can be effectively used for
developing understanding and proficiency for the
approaches and practice in education
* It is used to developing and improving professional

to understands and use the new practices in
their classroom.
# The workshop cannot be organized for large

# The effectiveness of a workshop depends on
the follow-up programme. It requires a lot of
time from participant and staff. It also
demands special facilities and materials
which are usually not available.
