a) Trends and Projections Today s on line travel market is succeeding because the companies are
using a more software centric, online business model termed E commerce. This has become the
popular avenue for businesses as it mirrors the ideas of mobility. The sheer amount of data
available, coupled with the advanced operating systems and social media platforms, have created
new possibilities for E commerce organizations. The infrastructure of E commerce has expanded
into platforms such as peer to peer networking, crowd sourcing, social websites, and mobile
devices and media. E commerce trends are findings ways to incorporate every aspect of our daily
lives into an online package associated with our everyday needs (Fishbein, 2013). Following the
invention of Online Transaction Processing (OLTP), primarily used by the airline, banking, and
retail industries during the late 1960s, the introduction of E Commerce progressed towards a global
enterprise design which incorporated commerce for web, mobile and the business to customer and
business to business models. Such designs became more useful as they increased the ability to
manage and provide powerful tools to aid potential customers with searching, merchandising, master
data management, order management, and web content management. Such designs present a great
benefit to companies because the platforms make

Online Dating Disadvantages
Adult life today is filled with lots of responsibilities and busy schedules. Some adults feel that it is
hard to find time to meet new people of interest for dating the old fashioned way that you get to
meet new people through friends, family or at work, and also it costs more. Since technology has
become a huge part of our everyday life and the internet is easy to access, people are starting to
communicate through the internet online more nowadays. In other words, single adults turn to the
internet to find a person of interest. Online datingsites such as ourtime.com, match.com, zoosk.com,

new people and find love as it is easy to access and convenient to use. The internet has made dating
more convenient. The users of online dating will get a chance to do screening, see pictures and talk
with someone before actually meeting. As only some online sites screen users and running them
against a National Sex Offender Database but some sites don’t screen at all which mostly
those are the free sites. People face many different types of dangers when they use online dating
sites as a way to meet new people as anyone can create a false profile. This false profile lead to
letdowns, criminals and predators use these sites to find victims.
Online dating sites such as match.com, dating.elitesingles.com, eHarmony.com, ourtime.com and

Mandala Religion Essay
The beliefs and symbols illustrated in my mandala are positioned in a way that they connect to
each other. The first Hindu belief is Brahman. I put the symbol of Brahman on the bottom of the
mandala to show that it controls and connects to the other four beliefs. Next, the belief of multiple
gods will be placed on the right side of Brahman because he is one of the many gods that the
Hindus believe in. On the other side of Brahman will be Dharma because they both have to do with
balancing society and the universe. On top of Dharma will be Karma. I will put it in this position
because Dharma affects your Karma. If you follow rules then your Karma will be good, and if
you don t follow the rules then your Karma won t be as good. Lastly, Samsara will be placed
next to Karma and Dharma. Samsara would be placed next to these beliefs because your Karma
is what you will receive or be like in your next life. Dharma connects to Samsara because the
release called Moksha will be achieved if you follow certain spiritual and ritual practices to have a
good relation and personal experience with Gods. There are many other ways that all these beliefs
connect to each other, but the ways I just talked about relate to the illustrations I have drawn on the
mandala.
I illustrated the belief of Brahman by using the Earth, Sun, and water droplets as symbols. I choose

what they were. The social class triangle represents each of the levels of social class that the
Hindus are recognized as. If you follow your dharma which is performing and following duties
and rules of your social class, then you will contribute to a better world and a stronger social class.
I drew the rocks balancing to represent that they believed that as you follow your dharma, they

CONTROL PARADIGM
This move toward abstinence, sobriety, moderation, and puritanical thoughts about sex is more
than a trend. It s a practical program that expands the limits of law enforcement, the authority of
employers, and ultimately its own parameters. Big Brother IS looking over your shoulder. Across
American society one sees effort after effort to restore social cohesion, re assert authority, and
basically get a grip on the energies that have been unleashed over the past quarter century.
Universities are re imposing curfews as well as rules on cohabitation, unsupervised parties,
fraternity hazing, and sexual conduct. Legislatures across the country are controlling Internet smut,
tobacco advertising, and labeling violent TV programming, video games, and rock and rap lyrics
as bad. Cities across the nation have imposed controls on panhandling, vagrancy, public drinking,
and littering. Community policing programs have given law enforcement more day to day
authority in high crimeareas. Cameras and scanners are everywhere. Are these the benign acts of a
civilized society, or have the authorities taken their powers too far?... Show more content on

It usually begins with an actual problem, for example, teen pregnancy or the real dangers of drugs,
but while an obvious response might be sex and drug education (and not the lies perpetrated by
programs such as DARE), or birth control and teaching safe drinking habits. Instead, we are told
that the best way to solve teen pregnancy is abstinence (which instills guilt about sexual activity),
or that the best way to curb drug use is to scare people and to lie to them. Real healthproblems,
such as AIDS and STDs become the occasion for wholesale sexual purges, and real problems
with drugs are couched in an abuse paradigm, as if to do drugs means only to ABUSE them, and
to talk about safe drug use is profane. Something else is going

THE IMPORTANCE OF CULTIVATING A LIFESTYLE OF CONSISTENT HEALTH CHECKS
The term lifestyle can denote the interests, opinions, behaviors, and behavioral orientations of an
individual, group, or culture. More interestingly, a healthy or unhealthy lifestyle will most likely
be transmitted across generations. The way we live our life touches the comfort of our immediate
and external environment. Immediate environment in this context are the people we are living
together with in our various homes and neighborhood (i.e. Siblings, spouse, parents and
children).External environment are our offices, social gatherings, churches, mosques etc. Parents
are the first teacher for every child. Everything that parents do will be very likely transferred to
their children through the learning process. When a 0 3 year old child has a mother who
practices a healthy lifestyle, this child will be 70% more likely to become healthy and adopt the
same lifestyle. For instance, high income parents are more likely to eat organic food, have time to
exercise, and provide the best living condition to their children. On the other hand, low income
parents are more likely to participate in unhealthy activities such as smoking to help them release
poverty related stress and depression Today, deskbound and unhealthy lifestyle is the routine in

Splendid Little War Essay
A Splendid Little War A Splendid Little War was an alternative title to the Spanish American
War named by Ambassador John Hay to his good friend Theodore Roosevelt. This war was one
of the shortest wars of all time, lasting only about four months. Surprisingly, the main cause of
death in this war wasn t by being shot, but by dying of diseases such as Yellow Fever, Malaria
and other diseases. Only 9,413 Spaniards were killed by wounds and combat and 53,540 were
killed by many diseases. In this Splendid Little War America was able to free Spain s overseas
empire which included Cuba, Puerto Rico, and the Philippines. The United Stateswas also hungry
for foreign good that weren t available to them in the homeland. After an easy victory over
Spain, American was able to control islands in the seas such as Cuba, The Philippines and
Guam. After this war, Spain was no longer a world power and the United States was on its way
to the top. America was very eager to go in this war because they noticed how countries in Europe
were becoming imperialists. America thought in order to become a world power, they had to do the
same. They saw the opportunity to do so with Cuba. Although Spain was controlling Cuba at the
time. The United States found the perfect excuse to go to war with Spain at the time.... Show more

The Analysis of Catholicism and the Artist Essay
James Joyce s novel A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man illustrates the confused state of a
generation split by religious divergence and thus lack of ability to evolve towards modernism. With
the incorporation of Protestant belief and ceremony by the English, traditional Catholic faith within
Irelandwas challenged with alteration. This abrupt integration of Protestant worship illuminates the
strange inability of a post English Irish culture to advance into a modern more spiritual world,
mostly unrestricted by religious philosophies. Joyce illustrates how Irish culture has been ripped
apart by its own faith, not by that of the English. Through the incorporation of an opposing faith,
England created a sense of alertness within the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, it was not long after that Henry would enforce a systematic four step process aimed at
bringing him more power over the Roman Catholic domination in which he had dissociated
himself earlier in his life. Such process started with the infiltration of a large British army of
2,300 soldiers into Ireland, followed by the killing of all men within the Fitzgerald family.
Furthermore, in 1536, Henry enforced the Reformation upon Ireland, hoping to create a
Protestant province loyal to the Crown. And in 1541, whilst declaring himself King, Henry
specified that all lands were to be submitted to the Crown only to be returned if owners pledged
their loyalty. Following King Henry s reformation, Ireland underwent a series of misfortunes
which daunted its most devote Catholics. In 1608, King James I allowed Protestants to take over
catholic lands, in 1690 the battle of Boyne took place, marked by William of Orange s conquering
over Catholicism, 1692 brought with it laws against catholic voting rights, the physical practice of
the religion and ownership by its followers. And within the years of 1845 49, those whom conjured
the strength to stay devote would challenge the existence of God when one million perished by
way of the Great Potato Famine. In an almost inevitable manner, after hundreds of years of
suppression, the Easter Rising

Sandy Hook Conspiracy Theory
Alex Jones, famous for his far right rhetoric and his conspiracy theories, has been presented with a
golden ticket.
On Sunday, NBC News released a promo for an interview between Jones and former Fox News
anchor Megyn Kelly to be aired on June 18, showing that all you need to do for a national platform
is to be a generally awful human being.
While the nation mourned the tragedy of the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre in 2012,
Jones spun vile theories about how the murders of 20 young children and six adults were actually
an elaborate performance by the United States government. According to Jones, there was no
Sandy Hook.
Jones has carved out a niche for his insanity in the dark nooks and crannies of the internet and
radio, and he reportedly has big fans in the White House, too. If people want to hear what Jones ...

Sandy Hook? Kelly asks Jones, not even giving those murdered in the shooting the respect of
speaking in full sentences, revealing that it s merely a talking point to her. Kelly knows full well
what Jones will say, but she asks anyway to give millions the chance to hear it, among them the
grieving families of the Sandy Hook victims.
Sandy Hook is complex because I ve had debates with devil s advocates that the whole story is
true, then I ve had debates when I ve said that none of it is true, Jones tells Kelly, right on cue.
When you say parents faked their children s death, people get very angry, Kelly replies vaguely.
Kelly s role through the entire promo seems less like that of a journalist and more like that of a
frustrated, but indulgent, parent. She responds to Jones with light slaps on the wrist and obvious
observations instead of fierce journalistic questions backed by commitment to the truth. If the
promo is any indication of what the full interview is to be, it won t be journalism on air, but a talk

Arthur Koestler s Darkness At Noon, By George Orwell
The Russian Revolution in 1917 was a major event that captured the attention of several people
around the world. In an attempt to portray this occurrence, George Orwell wrote Animal Farm.
Through Secker Warburg, Orwell published various books that explore important topics such as
poverty, an individual s role in society, and politics. Even though nowadays people consider
Animal Farm a literary classic, the population did not receive the book well when Secker
Warburg published it in 1945. The facts that the Modern Library List of Best 20th Century Novels
placed Animal Farm on 31st place, the novel won a Retrospective Hugo Award in 1996, and the
Great Books of the Western World included Animal Farm in its selection, prove Animal Farm s

Another book that explores topics that revolve around occurrences in the USSR, which also ranked
on Modern Library List of Best 20th Century Novels, is Arthur Koestler s Darkness at Noon, a
novel set during the Stalinist Great Purge and Moscow Trials, which expresses the author s
disillusionment over the communism that the Soviet Union practiced. Along with corruption of
power, Animal Farm demonstrates how easily people start believing that the government is doing
the right thing to protect them when it is, in fact, doing bad things. This is why everyone should
read Animal Farm. People need to be aware that when someone rises to power in a moment of
instability, the population feels afraid to question his/her attitude, since the public wants things to
become better. However, by not doing so, the government ends up deceiving and taking advantage
of society. The consequences of letting government mislead people is another imperative topic that

who are ambidextrous. But, can you imagine being able to play the guitar either right or left
handed? This biography essay is about a guitarist who is an icon in the world of music by the
name of Johnny Allen Hendrix or Jimi Hendrix. According to the Rolling Stones, Hendrix had
plenty of talent to take a right handed Fender Stratocaster and play it upside down with his left

Summary Of Miss Mabel s School For Girls
First of all, I would love to thank the author for sending me a copy of this book so soon after I
finished the Miss Mabel s School for Girls. Let it be known that I absolutely loved Miss Mabel s
School for Girls, the first book in Katie Cross Network Series. It had wonderful characters,
beautiful imagery, and much more. It whisked you to a place of mysterious magic that you can t
quite get over even after you finish the book. It enraptured me and made me an instant fan. It
seems rare that I love a sequel just as much as the original, and it has only happened a few times
before but Antebellum Awakening has just joined that short list.I found the first, Miss Mabel s

all my other social media platforms, the author offered me a copy of the second novel as well as
a novella which I can t wait to dive into, by the way. I loved that in this book we had an entirely
new setting, it no longer takes place at Miss Mabel s but rather at Chatham Castle which is
basically the capitol of the Central Network. We get to explore so much more in this book, we
even travel to another Network in Antebellum. I also loved the addition of the new characters and

Merrick but it is hardly a blossoming romance or anything of the sort, especially when compared

Information Security For The Energy Sector
Information security for the energy sector is an important and necessary responsibility for the
government institutions in the United States if the nation is to continue enjoying peace. After the 9
/11 attacks, every citizen of the United States is always in fear of what could happen if an attack is
waged. Going by the magnitude of the 9/11 attacks, any new attack would catch the country any
time and from any quarters. Having this in mind, the securityapparatus tasked with securing
information in the energy sector should be very keen as the different critical infrastructures in the
energy sector could be the next target for a terrorist attack. If a terrorist would have access to
critical information on the energy sector, the waging of an attack on or using the critical
infrastructure in the United Stateswould be rather easy and much more detrimental. Industry players
and all concerned parties that have legal access to sensitive information should work together in
implementing highly proofed security protocol on the access and use of information. Regular and
coordinated changes should be made on levels of access and times of access to sensitive
information to reduce the predictability of information flow in the different energy sectors. There
are many things that can be done to secure information in the energy sector besides what has
already been mentioned. Investment should be done by the government of the United States into
threat analysis measures and the implementation

Rock And Roll Or Roll
Shake and roll (frequently composed as rock and roll or shake n roll) is a classification of
mainstream music that started and developed in the United States amid the late 1940s and mid
1950s,[1][2] from a mix of African American sorts, for example, soul, boogie woogie, hop soul,
jazz, and gospel music,[3] together with Western swing and nation music.[4] Though components
of rock and rollcan be heard in soul records from the 1920s[5] and in nation records of the
1930s,[4] the class did not obtain its name until the 1950s.[6][7]

The Properties Of Life In Plants And Plants
The properties of life that plants and animals should possess include heredity and growth,
homeostasis, cellular organization, metabolism and responsiveness. Merriam Webster defined the
transmission of such qualities from ancestor to descendant through the genes. Therefore, heredity is
the power of an organismto reach data about itself onto its young. As well, growth is included as a
property of life because all living things originate and some may develop much quicker than others.
Another attribute of life is homeostasis. This is when living things possess a stable internal
environment regardless of any alterations in their external environment. In summation, the cellular
organization is another attribute of animation where all living things are composed of cells where
some have unicellular organisms and some have multicellular organisms. Furthermore, metabolism
is needed to provide organisms with energy and responsiveness must do with outside
environmental changes. Lastly, reproduction is not necessary for the survival of organisms, but is
necessary for there to be a prolongation of life. Not only do organisms require the properties of
spirit for survival but also molecules that are important for the prolongation of life. These molecules
include carbohydrates, lipids, proteins and nucleic acids. Carbohydrates contain sugars and starches
that provide and store energy for cells. Also, carbohydrates serve as the construction material for the
physical structure of plants.

Essay about Joseph Conrad s The Women of Heart of Darkness
Joseph Conrad s The Women of Heart of Darkness
The novella Heart of Darkness illustrates readers with three different types of depictions that men
had of women during the late 1800 s; also known as the imperialistic era. These depictions were as
follows; the naive woman, the mistress, and the wealthy widow. The naГЇve woman was
personified by Kurtz intended. The mistress was personified by the native African woman. The
wealthy widow is personified by Marlow s aunt. This assumption can be made on various levels.
The most obvious level is how Joseph Conrad never gave these characters names. Also when they
are mentioned it is very brief.
Kurtz s intended is the naГЇve character. She is alone and waiting for Kurtz for as long ... Show

The small part that she has in this novella she manages to sound like a naГЇve woman.
The second character that we are introduced to is Kurtz s African mistress. The mistress is a
beautiful woman who seems to evoke some sort of control over the men. Whenever she is
mentioned the men just stand there as if in awe. She never speaks in the novella. During the late
1800 s it was acceptable for men to have mistress , I believe that is what Conrad tried to show.
That s why Kurtz s intended never questioned why he was taking so long. She probably knew he
had a mistress and couldn t really say anything against it. The mistress managed to gain some type
of control over Kurtz, and that is why he hadn t left yet. Even Marlow was in awe when he saw
the beautiful native woman with jewelry on. Perhaps she was a wealthy woman, and that s why the
people respected her.
The last female character that I will examine is Marlow s aunt. She is perhaps a wealthy widow,
who also has nothing better to do with her money. She believes strongly on the topic of
imperialism. She thinks that it helps people progress. She was the one who got Marlow this
opportunity. Marlow s aunt is the combination of both characters. She was naГЇve and controlling
at the same time. Conrad probably used this character to show readers how older women were in
the past.
Its amazing to see how men stereotyped women in the past it hasn t

Persuasive Essay On My Life Of The Zoo
Earth is home to about 1.7 million discovered species. The most glorious group on the planet is the
animal kingdom. Unfortunately, more and more animals are being hunted to the point of
endangerment and eventually become extinct. I believe zoos are a wonderful place to protect
animals and give the public a chance to learn about them. Mr. Dewan I would be an excellent
zookeeper at the Philadelphia Zoo. I believe any and every animal is lovable. I have experience with
different species. I would be a dedicated and devoted employee. First, I adore and loveevery animal

connection with it. In an article called Don t destroy the tiger, pleads family of dead zookeeper,

they understand it. For example, I like to think furry and feathered animals are my friends. There

Indian Mascots Vs. Racial Discrimination
Indian Mascots vs Racial Discrimination Do you feel having Indian mascots for sports teams take
part in racial discrimination? In the sports world, representing a Native American is showing honor
and respect. In society, communities take it as offensive and racist towards Native Americans. The
government recognizes the positive representation of Indians and has given them more rights than
state citizens. Considering the history, what it means, and general attitude, Indian mascots should
be allowed. A common question about this topic is, Insult or Honor? Professional clubs aren t the

tradition started from tribes and chiefs back in the settlement time. Everything now is respect for

hidden picture is seeing that the sports side of our world has the biggest appreciation for Native

The Film Moonlight By Barry Jenkins
It s more than difficult living in a drug plagued, impoverished community. These places are often
ignored, but just as important as anywhere else. The film Moonlight, directed by Barry Jenkins, is
meant to demonstrate the hardships of living in a difficult community. Thematically, it highlights
the already difficult nature of being black in modern America, while simultaneously showing the
hardship of also being gay in said tough community. The film is comprised into three acts
surrounding the development of the protagonist, Chiron (in order of acts: Alex R. Hibbert, Ashton
Sanders, and Trevant Rhodes). Following him as he struggles with his own sexuality.
Consequentially, each act circles back to Chiron at a local beach, which for him, is... Show more

The blocking in this scene is also a foreshadow for the rest of the movie. In the beginning, Chiron
is scared and unsure of who he is, turning to the help of others like Juan and his girlfriend, Teresa.
However, after trial and tribulation, Chiron learns how to swim on his own. He slowly starts
understanding how to cope with his sexuality even if he s not accepted. And unfortunately, for most
of the film, Chiron is subjected to the sad realities that engulf everyone around him.
As expected, this happy scene is cut short as Chiron is dropped off at home to find his mother
with drugs and a stranger in the house. The scene is meant to immediately draw the viewer back to
the real world, the one Chiron has grown up in. In actuality, Chiron can t just escape the situation he
was born into. The mise ГЁn scene used in this moment is meant to demonstrate how the mother is
quickly losing grasp of a happy life; trying to escape their reality by any means necessary. The
blocking of Paula portrays her as anxious and angry, grabbing what appears to be drugs from her
dining table. The lighting is also dark and the house is dirty, reinforcing the idea that her life is
slipping away. This is just one of many situations in which Chiron is snapped back into reality after
feeling accepting for who he is.
Act two cuts to Chiron as a high schooler. Like before, his quiet nature seems to get the best

Education Should Be A Reflection Of The Context
According to the New Zealand Curriculum (Ministry of Education [MOE], 2007), education
should be a reflection of the context, which caters to all students regardless of background, ability
and gender to create a diverse learner that is provided with equal opportunity to succeed. However,
if we reflect on the history of education, it has favored one culture over the other. Statistics is a
testimony to this as it shows us 35 percent of Maori gained NCEA level 3 qualification or above in
comparison to 57 percent of non Maori who gained NCEA level 3 qualification or above (MOE,
2009). As of June 30 2012, statistics show that 51 percent of all prisoners were of Maori ethnicity
(New ZealandStatistics, 2012). In 2014 it was revealed that Maori had the second highest
unemployment rate (New Zealand Statistics, 2014). In order to understand the meaning of these
statistics one must look at the history of New Zealand education and ask thought provoking
questions such as why is there a disparity of achievement between Maori and non Maori? What
happens to those who fall through the cracks of education? How have Maori come to be at risk ?
This essay will attempt to answer these questions by looking at the important changes in the
education system and how they affected Maori education. These influential changes include the
introduction of schooling systems such as 1867 Native Schools and the establishment of the 1877
Education Act. I will then look at the effects of assimilation

How does he use descriptive imagery to establish the setting . This is a story by edgar allan poe

Qualitative Research and Data Analysis
2.1.6 Data analysis
In qualitative research, data analysis is a process of making meaning where the researcher has to
actively create meaning out of the raw materials (Esterberg, Kristin G., 2002). The process of
making meaning out of qualitative data is often iterative, meaning that there is a repetitive interplay
between the collection and analysis of data (Bryman and Bell, 2007).
Altogether 5 interviews were conducted with the tour operators in Denmark that are selling
travel packages to Nepal. Firstly, interview was conducted with Kipling travels (31ST March,
2014) and then interviews were made with Dagama travels (2nd April, 2014), FDM travels (2nd
April, 2014), Albatros travels (24th April, 2014) and lastly C C travels (29th April, 2014). All of
the interviews were conducted on different days except interviews with Dagama travels and FDM
travels. The findings from the first interview were also used to ask questions in the following
interviews and there was constant interplay between the data analysis of the previous interview and
the data collection from the next interview. In this way, information gained from the first interview
and the subsequent interviews were used, to ask questions, in the interviews done later on. Figure

Analysis Of The Story The Jilting Of Granny Weatherall

Another theme is being abandoned. She was left at the altar and for years wondered why she
was not good enough to marry. The final theme is mortality. Granny kept saying how she did not
fear death but towards the end of her life she felt as if she was not done living life, yet time had
run out. The story had some humorous moments but the jolting of thoughts got to be a bit
annoying. After I read the story, it made sense to have it written that way. After all, she was a
sick old woman who was dying and at that age, it is expected for thoughts to be mixed up. I at
first was confused as to who was talking and thought maybe the story was told in the first person
but as I kept reading I realized it was not. Although it is a little weird not to know who is telling
this story, it may have been beneficial because then we can then get a clear understanding of how
Granny was feeling without being interrupted by someone else s personal input. The line in the
story that says, She could not remember any other sorrow because this grief wiped them all away
makes me feel that it may have been mortality as the narrator, which I think would have been neat.
Sixty years prior her ex fiancГ© George left her at the altar without an explanation. This led to
Granny wanting to prove that she could be a good wife. Bitterness crept in and she let it eat at her
for the rest of her life.

Taking a Look at Resource Utilization
The Earth is a closed system with finite resources which can be utilized; However polarized views
of the limit in the functional availability of non renewable resources exist between the
Cornucopians and Neo Malthusians. Regardless of the disparity between the views of the
Cornucopians and Neo Malthusians, both ideologies are valid in their rationalization and their
arguments are augmented with strong supporting arguments drawn from historical facts. Despite
arguments being drawn from a shared history the Cornucopians and Neo Malthusians have
developed conflicting views that share no commonalities. In essence the Cornucopians may be
described as optimist or idealists whereas the Neo Malthusians would be considered pessimists or
realists.
The Cornucopians believe that human ingenuity and technological advancements will solve global
resource issues. The combination of the discovery of new reserves, technological evolutions
providing substitutes for presently declining resources, and improved efficiencies in resource
extraction, manufacturing and other processes will continually provide solutions to emergent
issues. Furthermore, as it is believed that technology will continue to evolve and provide solutions
to satisfy the needs of the human species, the environment therefore imposes no real limits to
growth.
Cornucopians such as Sir John Maddox argue that resource depletion is an unfounded issue as
classic economic philosophies of supply and demand would result in an

location, the first stop until immigrants could make enough money to move elsewhere. However,
times have always been tough and discrimination has always had a way of making people feel lost
even in a place that should have been their home. Eventually a community began to flourish and
Segundo Barrio became an extension of Mexico, a home away from home, or as my mother tells
me a community inside of a community, which is most likely where the first part Segundo
comes from. Home is what you make of it, and El Paso was home to many, but a community is
what develops over time and is a connection made between people and place. My neighbor and
friend, Margarita Martinez, would joke with me about how no matter where her brother goes in
the U.S. whenever he wears a shirt from a local and long established restaurant he always gets
people that come up to him and talk with him as if they were old friends that were catching up
with each other. They would talk about where they grew up and the connection they have with the
city, it s so weird how excited some people get about this place says

A Study of Four Classical Chinese Poems
One subject that seems salient in the four classical Chinese poems included in the reading is
social status. I use this term loosely because in The Charcoal Seller and On the Birth of His Son
social status is probably best understood by the western designation of social class, but in Woman
and Mei Yao Ch en social status is better understood as part of genderrelations. However, I think
that the more generalized designation of social status is appropriate in approaching these four
poems, because of the way it illustrates the Confucian concept of ren, usually translated as
goodness or virtue . This is very different, however, from most western notions of goodness or
virtue because in Confucianism the concept is defined in terms of social relationships: for
Confucius, there were five specifically defined social relationships in which one should exhibit
ren . These are the relations of a parent to a child, of an older sibling to a younger sibling, of a
husband to a wife, of an older person to a younger person, and of a ruler toward a subject. In
other words, relationships which might risk a potential power imbalance are governed by right
rules of conduct. In these terms, we can see the workings, or failings, of the socially defined ren in
these four poems. This is most clear and obvious in The Charcoal Seller (Waley 1919), which
demonstrates the failure of ren in the final category, the virtuous or right relationship between a
ruler and his

Captain Ahab Dialectical Journal
The next day, the Pequod kills 4 whales and 1 of them was killed by Captain Ahab. Ahab is
mesmerized by one dead whale that is sunbathing in the sun. He believes that whales react to the
sun the same way humans react to the sun. The 4 whales that were killed that day were very much
far apart from each other. They were able to get three of the whales killed the same day but had to
wait until the next day for the fourth whalethat was killed. Every day when Ahab would get out of
his cabin, he would calculate the latitude of the ship based on the sun. The instrument he used to
find the latitude of the ship was called the quadrant. Ahab orders for the ship to turn around because
he could not get any results for the current direction they were... Show more content on

Ishmael explains that typhoons can come out of nowhere while sailing at sea. Many different type
of signs occur that night when the typhoon occurred. Initially, the main idea whalers would do
during a storm was that they would set up lightning rods but Ahab believes that a typhoon is a
sign that Moby Dick is near saying that the white flame is the way to the white whale. Starbuck
sees on the ship that Ahab s harpoon blade starts to ablaze. Starbuck believes that this little sign
is a sign of God presenting the consequences of hunting down a creature like Moby Dick. The
resilience of Starbuck continues with Ahab when Starbuck thinks that the crew should take down
one of the main sails but Ahab thinks that it should stay there. This causes disbelief among
Starbuck and cannot believe that Ahab would do this, this leads to a strained relationship among
the two. Stubb and Flask believe that Ahab is a little crazy and is putting the whole crew in
danger. After a long rocky night on the ship, the worst parts of the typhoon is now over. Because
of this the crew is relieved and even singing song of happiness and joy. Starbuck discovers below
the cabin a rack of muskets

Letter To The Massachusetts Bay Colony By John Winthrop
In a letter written by John Winthrop he explains to a friend his vision of the settlement in the
Massachusetts Bay Colony. Winthrop discusses the difficulties in establishing a self governing and
self sustaining settlement as well as the conflicts the colonists amount to with the Indians.
Early New England s colony totaled to above 4,000 colonists. Winthrop describes them as all being
in good health and well provided of all necessarys: so hath not died about 2 or 3 grown persons .
This means that the colonists are overall healthy with only a few deaths. This is of much
importance for him to mention because it shows the well being of the colonists as well as the
colony s capabilities of providing good health. Winthrop furthers onto this idea of health by
saying it being verye rare to heare of any sick of agues or other diseases , meaning these diseases
and sickness in New England are rare which is also positive and advantageous. As far as supporting
themselves goes, everyone makes a contribution in different work fields. Winthrop says that this

Winthrop says the civil Government is mixt and all assist the magistrates making laws, imposing
taxes, and disposing of lands . Within this government our Churches are governed by Pastors,
Teachers ruling Elders and Deacons, yet the power lies in the whole Congregation . This means
that the Churches became the center for political social and order because the Puritans were very
spiritual and their beliefs were of much importance to them. This means that those Puritan colonists
are very much included because of this belief system, whereas the non puritans and natives are
more excluded. Winthrop mentions the natives towards the end when he says they are all dead of
the smallpox meaning the diseases introduced by the colonists reduced the Indian s population and
caused a lesser role in New

Humorous Weddings
I can still remember my brother s weddings, seeing them go off with their significant others, and
always wondering if and when I would eventually do the same. Who would I marry? Who would
I eventually call my spouse and grow old with? I always knew someone was out there and from
the moment that I met your daughter, I knew it was her. I honestly do not know how I got so
lucky. Hayley is perfect in every single way imaginable and I cannot stress to you how
appreciative i am of that. From the very bottom of my heart, thank you for raising her the way that
you did, surrounding her in the stable, loving environment of your home and for instilling in her
the values that I hold dear. As I am writing this letter, I remember being so nervous when

Great Depression Essay examples
The Great Depression was a difficult time for all the American people. It was a time of
unemployment, falling wages, and hope for recovery ( Chapter 27 ). Some of the causes of the
Great Depression were government policies, economic factors, and the gold standard ( Chapter 27
). Other reasons included the fall of the stock market, overseas investments, and the investments in
Florida real estate (Farless). The president at the time of this difficult time was President Herbert
Hoover. When the Great Depressionstarted, Herbert Hoover took matters into his own hands.
President Herbert Hoover came up with multiple recovery attempts.

Some of the farmers harassed bank agents who were sent to foreclose their homes. Another
thing that the farmers in the Farm Holiday Association did was dump their farming goods
(Farless). Another protest that emerged was the Veterans Bonus Army. The Veterans Bonus
Army clash in 1932 proved to be the most damaging for Hoover (Farless). The Veterans Bonus
Army consisted of 15,000 World War I veterans who traveled to Washington D.C. to demand
their early payment of their 1945 planned bonus (Farless). President Herbert Hoover believed
that they were anarchists, so he called in troops to break up the army (Farless). This incident was
captured on film and it changed President Herbert Hoover s popularity for the worst (Farless).
After the decrease of President Herbert Hoover s popularity, someone else became the public s
favorite Franklin D. Roosevelt.
Franklin D. Roosevelt came from a wealthy family and was a distant cousin of Teddy Roosevelt
(Farless). Many of the American voters had confidence in Franklin D. Roosevelt ( Chapter 28 ).
Franklin D. Roosevelt told the American people that he would make a new deal for them ( Chapter
28 ). He also promised relief for the unemployment and that he would address the problems of
businesses (Farless). Although he seemed like a man that made his own decisions, Franklin D.

Pericles Funeral Oration Essay
Pericles of the Funeral Oration outlines his ideal of Athens, and what makes an Athenian, which
was his ideal person. Plato in the Apology, Crito, and the Phaedo describes the trial and execution
of Socrates. Athens after the second Peloponnesian War is cling to an unstable democracy, and
extremely fearful of anything that threatens their way of life. Pericleswould view this Athens as a
shell of its former self. This can be best seen through the trial and execution of Socrates. Socrates
could be described as the ideal Athenian, he strove to make Athens and its people better, yet he was
executed for having different ideas. Pericles given the opportunity to evaluate Athens and Socrates,
during this time, could make the argument that Socrates is akin to his ideal of Athens and that
Athens, as it stood, was more closely related to Sparta.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They had suffered defeat in the second Peloponnesian Warand were grappling with the struggle of
stabilizing their fragile democracy. They believed that something like political philosophy could
destabilize Athens beyond repair. This is part of what drove them to execute Socrates. Socrates was
brought up on charges of corrupting the youth, making the worse argument better, and teaching
things of the earth and the sky. During the trial, Socrates had every justification, but in the end, it
was not enough to save his life. Socrates argues that the laws are intended to make Athenians better
people and that if an old man wandering around asking questions can corrupt the youth, then what
sort of youth must they be. He argues that if Athens is so unstable that they cannot withstand
questions then they are already

Analysis Of The Boat By Alistair Macleod
The setting of Alistair Macleod s short story, The Boat, complements the setting of Alden Nowlan
s poem, Warren Pryor. Each of these writing pieces contain the element of a smaller town with a
tight knit community. In the short story The Boat, our community is a Nova Scotian community
whose primary industry is fishing. This results in most of the members of the community
partaking in the fishing lifestyle. Another influential location this writing piece takes place in is
inside of the house, which was one of about fifty that marched around the horseshoe of [his]
harbour, (Macleod 263). Most of the homes in this town are situated close to the water as it is
there where most of the men work as fishermen. Inside the house was his father s room where
magazines and books covered the bureau, (Macleod 265). It was in their father s room where the
children discover their love of reading and become more dedicated to their schooling. Both the short
storyand the poem contain the setting of a school, which is symbolic as it is their education that
allows the characters to be free of their obligations and the way of their town. Finally, the setting
takes place on the Jenny Lynn, she was what Nova Scotians called a Cape Island boat and was
designed for the small inshore fishermen, (Macleod 262) and it is on this boat where the father and
son make their final journey out to sea. Likewise, the poem Warren Pryor takes place in another
resource based community, however, this

Bacteria And The Human Body
Bacteria plays an important role in our bodies and in the environment. In the human body, bacteria
helps us remain healthy by fighting off infections, aiding in digestion, reinforcing intestinal barrier
effects and enhancing intestinal cell health and growth. Not only is bacteria important for our
health, but they are also important for the Earth s environment. In these environments, bacteria
plays a pivotal role in helping to keep organisms healthy and to help maintain the balance and
control that are needed in these environments. In this research paper, I am going to talk about what

Inside of bacteria, there are many cells within them that each form a specific function that helps to
aid bacteria. One of these components is the basal body.
The basal body helps to anchor the flagellum and allow it to rotate. The capsule is the layer that is
located outside of the cell wall and not all bacteria come with this feature. The cell wall is a
membrane that is located outside of the cell membrane. Another feature is the bacteria s DNA
(Deoxyribonucleic Acid). The DNA of bacteria contains all of the information that bacteria needs
for growth and development and it is located in the cytoplasm.
Cytoplasm is a substance that is located inside of the plasma membrane. From the use of the
bacteria s cytoplasm, proteins, amino acids, sugars, nucleotides, salts, vitamins, enzymes, DNA,
ribosomes, and the bacteria s internal structure which are all important to the bacteria s survival
floats around the cell through the use of cytoplasm. The flagellum is an object that bacteria use to
help propel themselves through liquid substances. Not all types of bacteria have a flagellum. Only
rod shaped bacteria or spiral shaped bacteria have a flagellum.
Bacteria spherical (cocci) does not have a flagellum rendering them incapable of movement. Some
types of bacteria not only have just one flagellum, in fact some types of bacteria may have multiple
flagellums each in different patterns. A single flagellum is

  • 4. Mandala Religion Essay The beliefs and symbols illustrated in my mandala are positioned in a way that they connect to each other. The first Hindu belief is Brahman. I put the symbol of Brahman on the bottom of the mandala to show that it controls and connects to the other four beliefs. Next, the belief of multiple gods will be placed on the right side of Brahman because he is one of the many gods that the Hindus believe in. On the other side of Brahman will be Dharma because they both have to do with balancing society and the universe. On top of Dharma will be Karma. I will put it in this position because Dharma affects your Karma. If you follow rules then your Karma will be good, and if you don t follow the rules then your Karma won t be as good. Lastly, Samsara will be placed next to Karma and Dharma. Samsara would be placed next to these beliefs because your Karma is what you will receive or be like in your next life. Dharma connects to Samsara because the release called Moksha will be achieved if you follow certain spiritual and ritual practices to have a good relation and personal experience with Gods. There are many other ways that all these beliefs connect to each other, but the ways I just talked about relate to the illustrations I have drawn on the mandala. It s a practical program that expands the limits of law enforcement, the authority of employers, and ultimately its own parameters. Big Brother IS looking over your shoulder. Across American society one sees effort after effort to restore social cohesion, re assert authority, and basically get a grip on the energies that have been unleashed over the past quarter century. Universities are re imposing curfews as well as rules on cohabitation, unsupervised parties, fraternity hazing, and sexual conduct. Legislatures across the country are controlling Internet smut, tobacco advertising, and labeling violent TV programming, video games, and rock and rap lyrics as bad. Cities across the nation have imposed controls on panhandling, vagrancy, public drinking, and littering. Community policing programs have given law enforcement more day to day authority in high crimeareas. Cameras and scanners are everywhere. This war was one of the shortest wars of all time, lasting only about four months. Surprisingly, the main cause of death in this war wasn t by being shot, but by dying of diseases such as Yellow Fever, Malaria and other diseases. Only 9,413 Spaniards were killed by wounds and combat and 53,540 were killed by many diseases. In this Splendid Little War America was able to free Spain s overseas empire which included Cuba, Puerto Rico, and the Philippines. The United Stateswas also hungry for foreign good that weren t available to them in the homeland. After an easy victory over Spain, American was able to control islands in the seas such as Cuba, The Philippines and Guam. After this war, Spain was no longer a world power and the United States was on its way to the top. America was very eager to go in this war because they noticed how countries in Europe were becoming imperialists. America thought in order to become a world power, they had to do the same. The Analysis of Catholicism and the Artist Essay James Joyce s novel A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man illustrates the confused state of a generation split by religious divergence and thus lack of ability to evolve towards modernism. With the incorporation of Protestant belief and ceremony by the English, traditional Catholic faith within Irelandwas challenged with alteration. This abrupt integration of Protestant worship illuminates the strange inability of a post English Irish culture to advance into a modern more spiritual world, mostly unrestricted by religious philosophies. However, it was not long after that Henry would enforce a systematic four step process aimed at bringing him more power over the Roman Catholic domination in which he had dissociated himself earlier in his life. Such process started with the infiltration of a large British army of 2,300 soldiers into Ireland, followed by the killing of all men within the Fitzgerald family. Furthermore, in 1536, Henry enforced the Reformation upon Ireland, hoping to create a Protestant province loyal to the Crown. And in 1541, whilst declaring himself King, Henry specified that all lands were to be submitted to the Crown only to be returned if owners pledged their loyalty. Following King Henry s reformation, Ireland underwent a series of misfortunes which daunted its most devote Catholics. In 1608, King James I allowed Protestants to take over catholic lands, in 1690 the battle of Boyne took place, marked by William of Orange s conquering over Catholicism, 1692 brought with it laws against catholic voting rights, the physical practice of the religion and ownership by its followers. • 10. Sandy Hook Conspiracy Theory Alex Jones, famous for his far right rhetoric and his conspiracy theories, has been presented with a golden ticket. On Sunday, NBC News released a promo for an interview between Jones and former Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly to be aired on June 18, showing that all you need to do for a national platform is to be a generally awful human being. While the nation mourned the tragedy of the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre in 2012, Jones spun vile theories about how the murders of 20 young children and six adults were actually an elaborate performance by the United States government. According to Jones, there was no Sandy Hook. Sandy Hook is complex because I ve had debates with devil s advocates that the whole story is true, then I ve had debates when I ve said that none of it is true, Jones tells Kelly, right on cue. When you say parents faked their children s death, people get very angry, Kelly replies vaguely. Kelly s role through the entire promo seems less like that of a journalist and more like that of a frustrated, but indulgent, parent. Even though nowadays people consider Animal Farm a literary classic, the population did not receive the book well when Secker Warburg published it in 1945. The facts that the Modern Library List of Best 20th Century Novels placed Animal Farm on 31st place, the novel won a Retrospective Hugo Award in 1996, and the Great Books of the Western World included Animal Farm in its selection, prove Animal Farm s popularity. Along with corruption of power, Animal Farm demonstrates how easily people start believing that the government is doing the right thing to protect them when it is, in fact, doing bad things. This is why everyone should read Animal Farm. People need to be aware that when someone rises to power in a moment of instability, the population feels afraid to question his/her attitude, since the public wants things to become better. • 16. Information Security For The Energy Sector Information security for the energy sector is an important and necessary responsibility for the government institutions in the United States if the nation is to continue enjoying peace. After the 9 /11 attacks, every citizen of the United States is always in fear of what could happen if an attack is waged. Going by the magnitude of the 9/11 attacks, any new attack would catch the country any time and from any quarters. Having this in mind, the securityapparatus tasked with securing information in the energy sector should be very keen as the different critical infrastructures in the energy sector could be the next target for a terrorist attack. If a terrorist would have access to critical information on the energy sector, the waging of an attack on or using the critical infrastructure in the United Stateswould be rather easy and much more detrimental. Industry players and all concerned parties that have legal access to sensitive information should work together in implementing highly proofed security protocol on the access and use of information. Regular and coordinated changes should be made on levels of access and times of access to sensitive information to reduce the predictability of information flow in the different energy sectors. Merriam Webster defined the transmission of such qualities from ancestor to descendant through the genes. Therefore, heredity is the power of an organismto reach data about itself onto its young. As well, growth is included as a property of life because all living things originate and some may develop much quicker than others. Another attribute of life is homeostasis. This is when living things possess a stable internal environment regardless of any alterations in their external environment. Essay about Joseph Conrad s The Women of Heart of Darkness Joseph Conrad s The Women of Heart of Darkness The novella Heart of Darkness illustrates readers with three different types of depictions that men had of women during the late 1800 s; also known as the imperialistic era. These depictions were as follows; the naive woman, the mistress, and the wealthy widow. The naГЇve woman was personified by Kurtz intended. The mistress was personified by the native African woman. The wealthy widow is personified by Marlow s aunt. This assumption can be made on various levels. The most obvious level is how Joseph Conrad never gave these characters names. The mistress is a beautiful woman who seems to evoke some sort of control over the men. Whenever she is mentioned the men just stand there as if in awe. She never speaks in the novella. During the late 1800 s it was acceptable for men to have mistress , I believe that is what Conrad tried to show. That s why Kurtz s intended never questioned why he was taking so long. She probably knew he had a mistress and couldn t really say anything against it. The mistress managed to gain some type of control over Kurtz, and that is why he hadn t left yet. Even Marlow was in awe when he saw the beautiful native woman with jewelry on. Perhaps she was a wealthy woman, and that s why the people respected her. The last female character that I will examine is Marlow s aunt. She is perhaps a wealthy widow, who also has nothing better to do with her money. She believes strongly on the topic of imperialism. She thinks that it helps people progress. She was the one who got Marlow this opportunity. Marlow s aunt is the combination of both characters. She was naГЇve and controlling at the same time. Education Should Be A Reflection Of The Context According to the New Zealand Curriculum (Ministry of Education [MOE], 2007), education should be a reflection of the context, which caters to all students regardless of background, ability and gender to create a diverse learner that is provided with equal opportunity to succeed. However, if we reflect on the history of education, it has favored one culture over the other. Statistics is a testimony to this as it shows us 35 percent of Maori gained NCEA level 3 qualification or above in comparison to 57 percent of non Maori who gained NCEA level 3 qualification or above (MOE, 2009). As of June 30 2012, statistics show that 51 percent of all prisoners were of Maori ethnicity (New ZealandStatistics, 2012). In 2014 it was revealed that Maori had the second highest unemployment rate (New Zealand Statistics, 2014). In order to understand the meaning of these statistics one must look at the history of New Zealand education and ask thought provoking questions such as why is there a disparity of achievement between Maori and non Maori? What happens to those who fall through the cracks of education? How have Maori come to be at risk ? This essay will attempt to answer these questions by looking at the important changes in the education system and how they affected Maori education. These influential changes include the introduction of schooling systems such as 1867 Native Schools and the establishment of the 1877 Education Act. Qualitative Research and Data Analysis 2.1.6 Data analysis In qualitative research, data analysis is a process of making meaning where the researcher has to actively create meaning out of the raw materials (Esterberg, Kristin G., 2002). The process of making meaning out of qualitative data is often iterative, meaning that there is a repetitive interplay between the collection and analysis of data (Bryman and Bell, 2007). Altogether 5 interviews were conducted with the tour operators in Denmark that are selling travel packages to Nepal. Firstly, interview was conducted with Kipling travels (31ST March, 2014) and then interviews were made with Dagama travels (2nd April, 2014), FDM travels (2nd April, 2014), Albatros travels (24th April, 2014) and lastly C C travels (29th April, 2014). The combination of the discovery of new reserves, technological evolutions providing substitutes for presently declining resources, and improved efficiencies in resource extraction, manufacturing and other processes will continually provide solutions to emergent issues. Furthermore, as it is believed that technology will continue to evolve and provide solutions to satisfy the needs of the human species, the environment therefore imposes no real limits to growth. Cornucopians such as Sir John Maddox argue that resource depletion is an unfounded issue as classic economic philosophies of supply and demand would result in an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, times have always been tough and discrimination has always had a way of making people feel lost even in a place that should have been their home. Eventually a community began to flourish and Segundo Barrio became an extension of Mexico, a home away from home, or as my mother tells me a community inside of a community, which is most likely where the first part Segundo comes from. • 40. A Study of Four Classical Chinese Poems One subject that seems salient in the four classical Chinese poems included in the reading is social status. I use this term loosely because in The Charcoal Seller and On the Birth of His Son social status is probably best understood by the western designation of social class, but in Woman and Mei Yao Ch en social status is better understood as part of genderrelations. However, I think that the more generalized designation of social status is appropriate in approaching these four poems, because of the way it illustrates the Confucian concept of ren, usually translated as goodness or virtue . This is very different, however, from most western notions of goodness or virtue because in Confucianism the concept is defined in terms of social relationships: for Confucius, there were five specifically defined social relationships in which one should exhibit ren . These are the relations of a parent to a child, of an older sibling to a younger sibling, of a husband to a wife, of an older person to a younger person, and of a ruler toward a subject. In other words, relationships which might risk a potential power imbalance are governed by right rules of conduct. In these terms, we can see the workings, or failings, of the socially defined ren in these four poems. This is most clear and obvious in The Charcoal Seller (Waley 1919), which demonstrates the failure of ren in the final category, the virtuous or right relationship between a ruler and his ... Winthrop discusses the difficulties in establishing a self governing and self sustaining settlement as well as the conflicts the colonists amount to with the Indians. Early New England s colony totaled to above 4,000 colonists. Winthrop describes them as all being in good health and well provided of all necessarys: so hath not died about 2 or 3 grown persons . This means that the colonists are overall healthy with only a few deaths. This is of much importance for him to mention because it shows the well being of the colonists as well as the colony s capabilities of providing good health. Winthrop furthers onto this idea of health by saying it being verye rare to heare of any sick of agues or other diseases , meaning these diseases and sickness in New England are rare which is also positive and advantageous. • 48. Analysis Of The Boat By Alistair Macleod The setting of Alistair Macleod s short story, The Boat, complements the setting of Alden Nowlan s poem, Warren Pryor. Each of these writing pieces contain the element of a smaller town with a tight knit community. In the short story The Boat, our community is a Nova Scotian community whose primary industry is fishing. This results in most of the members of the community partaking in the fishing lifestyle. Another influential location this writing piece takes place in is inside of the house, which was one of about fifty that marched around the horseshoe of [his] harbour, (Macleod 263). Most of the homes in this town are situated close to the water as it is there where most of the men work as fishermen. Inside the house was his father s room where magazines and books covered the bureau, (Macleod 265). It was in their father s room where the children discover their love of reading and become more dedicated to their schooling. Both the short storyand the poem contain the setting of a school, which is symbolic as it is their education that allows the characters to be free of their obligations and the way of their town. Finally, the setting takes place on the Jenny Lynn, she was what Nova Scotians called a Cape Island boat and was designed for the small inshore fishermen, (Macleod 262) and it is on this boat where the father and son make their final journey out to sea. Likewise, the poem Warren Pryor takes place in another resource based community, however, this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The basal body helps to anchor the flagellum and allow it to rotate. The capsule is the layer that is located outside of the cell wall and not all bacteria come with this feature. The cell wall is a membrane that is located outside of the cell membrane. Another feature is the bacteria s DNA (Deoxyribonucleic Acid). The DNA of bacteria contains all of the information that bacteria needs for growth and development and it is located in the cytoplasm.
